“Well look who we have here.”

Alistair turned to look in surprise as Ramona creeped up behind him, her fangs growling in the faint light. He softly gulped as she now stood before him, meeting his eyes in an intense gaze.

“The little bunny isn’t with you? I’m shocked.”

Henry eyes danced with mischief as she started to circle him as if he were her prey. Alistair turned on the spot to watch her movements. He thought he’d feel uneasy, maybe even scared that the next big bad wolf was prowling him.

Yet as they continued to watch each other through the darkness of the moonlight forest, he found not a trace of fear or unease. In fact he thought never felt more comfortable with someone. Not with Bunny or Lizzie or anyone.

“So what brings you out here?” Ramona raised an arched brow at his question, looking at him as if he was dumb. Alistair felt himself getting embarrassed as she continued to stare at him before a teasing, wolffish smile crossed her face.

“I live here…” that made sense. Alistair mentally slapped himself as he realization dawned on him. Obviously she lived here, daughter of the big bad wolf and all that. He could practically here Kitty mocking him for his silliness.

“And what about you. What brings you in this part of the fores?”

Alistair heart pounded as she leaned in, her teeth glinting in the light and her breaths matching his own. For a second he lost track of thought as he couldn’t help but get lost in the abyss of her eyes, mesmerizing and captivating beyond repair.

“Oh umm… I was supposed to meet with Lizzie here but I guess she ran of with her mystery boyfriend.” Ramona chuckled at his cluelessness. She’d seen the Wonderland princess running through the forest and into the arms of a certain Charming prince.

But hey she wasn’t any Cedar Wood to spill the tea.

“And now that’s she’d ditched you? What are you planning to do?” The boy shrugged and pointed to his pants pocket that had a piece of parchment sticking out. Ramona vaguely saw the outline of a map as he took it out and pointed around.

“Well I made all that effort to sneak out so why waste it.” Just as he was about to start walking down to whatever path that mao said, Ramona grabbed it from his arms, using her wolf speed to ran behind a thick oak tree.

“Ramona! Come on give it here!”

“Catch me if you can!”

Her voice was like a sing song as Alistair sighed and followed the echo. She watched him with her enhanced vision and darted to a different tree as he rounded the corner of the one she was previously on.

He thought that he should be annoyed, that he should yell at her and not treat this an other puzzle piece to reaching the end. But he wasn’t, in fact he didn’t remember the last time he felt so alive as he chased her to tree after tree.

Maybe it was something about her free and uncaring nature that drew him in. He didn’t know what it was but what he did know was that he wanted this moment of laughter and excitement to last forever. As long as it was with her.

“Your slower than I thought Alistair. Shouldn’t you be quick on your feet to catch that white rabbit?”

Akisitar smirked as he came up behind her, leaning down against her shoulder and ear as he whispered, “oh I am.” Ramona jumped in surprise, stumbling back causing both of them to lose their footing. Alistair landed on the grass with a thud, feeling the air knock out his lungs twice.

Once from the impact, second from the girl laying ontop of him. “How did- what-.” Alistair smirked as he held the map ontop of his head. Yet as she stared at him with such shock he couldn’t help but move a piece of lose hair from her face.

His fingers grazed her forehead and Ramona sucked in a silent breath.

What was going on with her? Why was she acting like some… some princess! She was supposed to be a villain. Villains didn’t act all sappy and let boys get the better of them.

And yet, as she and Alistair gazed into one another’s eyes, she didn’t know what possessed her to lean down. He met her halfway through, their lips meeting in a surprisingly gentle kiss. His lips were soft and tasted faintly of tea, it was something she thought she could get drunk on.

But just as soon as the kiss started, it ended. Ramona pulled apart first with a dazed look on her face before she schooled her features. Alistair was much the same, confused and fuzzy minded as she suddenly sprung to her feet.

“If- if you tell anyone about this… I’ll shred you to pieces!”

Alistair faintly nodded, shock still overriding all his other emotions as he watched with a feeling he couldn’t describe in his heart as she ran off. And as he watched her fade away he couldn’t help but touch his lips, were her own had just been.

She'd freak out internally, both out of excitement and pure, "ohmyGOD they're so CUTE!!" vibes. Would be absolutely try to grab a blanket to be romantic and cover MC but would probably fail so miserably that she wakes up MC by accident.

Eden

Something tells me he'd be the one to fall asleep first. Buuuut if he isn't, I think Eden would probably wrap his arm around MC to steady them and then fall asleep, too. Upright cuddling or something. He and MC would both wake up with pain in their backs, though, because the position would not end up being comfortable.

Aena

Aena would freeze at first, but she'd get over the initial shock much faster than Harlowe. Would try to grab a blanket or nearby jacket or something so that MC isn't cold and can be comfy. She'd 1000% tease them about it when they wake up.

He'd be the only one to move MC away from him. But more out of respect for MC, ya know? Being in the crushing stage, Alistaire wouldn't want to accidentally cross any boundaries. Your pairing for Fenris made me think of one of my pairing for him. One of my Amells for a darker angst storyline taking place between the Blue Wraith comics and DAI. The Tevinter Grey wardens begged Fenris to find my Amell to protect them and help them find a cure for the Calling or at least the next step closer to create it. They'll likely have a tragic short lived romance because my Amell is sick from the taint inside them and close to their Calling. If Fenris has to take Amell out of Tevinter to the location of the Deep Roads for Amell to do the Long Walk to die a Grey Wardens deaths and be put out of their misery.

I want to explore the tragic side of Heroism of the Grey Wardens mainly the HOF.

While I do find there is some good potential for angst between a mage de riva and fenris, the self indulgent side of me wants to explore the sillier and more fun aspects of their relationship too and not just the angst!

In this world’s state Hawkeye stayed behind in the Fade and Fenris was lost for some time. I don’t remember the Blue Wraith comics that well so Im not sure canonically how.. okay he is with mages, but given that he was able to work with Francesca I feel he’s more okay with them now compared to when we first meet him in DA2. Ofc he would most likely have an issue w/ a mage who kills for money, but I think he’d be at least more willing to get to know De Riva and not just shut down immediately?

Magic is ultimately a tool as much as a sword or a mace. Can be wielded for good, or bad. Val hopes she can convince him that she can use her magic for good too, like Hawke did.

7. Why does Rook agree to join the Veilguard?

Initially he joined Varric because it seemed like a good idea, and then meeting Harding? And realizing the pair of them knew Inquisitor Jay? He was happy to follow along on their wild dog chase if it meant he could get closer to the inquisitor to fulfill his own contract and assassinate her. (this mean Ettore and Harding had a strained relationship mostly on Ettore’s end)

8. What makes Rook a good leader?

Steph is the main leader between the two. But Ettore has worked with the Crows long enough to pick up a thing or two. He keeps his promises and will see things through. He’s good at thinking on his feet and fast and trying his best to ensure any collateral damage (if it were to happen) is kept to a minimum. He does not dwell on past mistakes and pushes forward for ensure the job is done.

9. What is Rook like on the battlefield?

Flexible and agile. The battlefield is a playground for him to play in. He is a rogue and dual daggers are his bread and butter, however with training from Steph, he has over time been able to harness some of his innate electrical magic prowess from his mother. While this usually manifests as an extension of his blade, when he gets into heavy combat his whole body begins to spark. Eventually he learns to unleash it in an area around him like his mother could do so effortlessly. Except he can't pinpoint where the focal will be, he is the focal.

10. Does Rook know their history? Do they know of the HoF, Hawke, the Inquisitor?

The Hero of Ferelden is his mother so he knows her very well haha. He knows next to nothing about Hawke and only heard bits from his mother regarding what happened in Kirkwall. The Inquisitor tho? Oh he knows of her all too well. His personal contract and revenge mark for leaving one of his fathers in the Fade during the Inquisition’s reign.

11. Does Rook keep up with current events? (How aware of the situation are they at the start of the game?)

More or less, he’s kept up with what Varric has told him and being a Crow you hear a bunch, pick up a bunch from marks and general gossip.

12. Does Rook have any family? Do they keep in touch?

For Ettore’s family, his mother The Hero of Ferelden is dead, his father Alistair was lost in the Fade, his other father Zevran is living in secrecy in Antiva to which Ettore makes any visits he can very carefully so not to bring down the wrath of the Crows upon him. His godmother, Morrigan, is vibing in the game, he very much enjoys getting to see him. His half-brother Kieran is somewhere?? He hasn’t seen much of him since he moved to Antiva and hopes their paths will cross at some point. He’s harder to track down than Morrigan is lol.

14. What does Rook see when they look in the mirror?

A handsome elf! :D

15. What’s the first thing people notice when Rook enters a room?

That their room with Stephen is a big ole mashup between their interests. Papers and books and trinkets being worked on by Steph. Trinkets and knick knacks from missions from Ettore. The more stand out pieces is a terrarium dodecahedron-like structure Ettore got for Steph which is neatly decorated and usually houses the one wisp that is particularly fond of Steph. The most notable piece that’s for Ettore himself, is a tapestry depicting the end of the fifth blight, a rendition that depicts his mother.

18. Their fondest childhood memory:

An spring day in the Free Marches. His parents had taken him down to a lake. His mother was sitting up on the shore finishing up a letter, Ettore was in the water with Zevran and their mabari, Fronzworth (same boy from origins) trying to get Alistair to jump in and join them. His dad refusing cause the water was too cold! Cue his mother calling their mabari to tackle his dad firm behind with an unholy noise as he fell in. His mother joining them in the water a short time afterwards. To him it was perfect. 

19. What is Rook’s love language? What love languages do they respond best to?

His love language is primarily through action. Care, attention and it’s the love language he appreciates a lot in return. While he indulges passing fancies and flirts, when he genuinely cares, he will take note of your favourite foods, he’ll make you your favourite foods and bring you snacks and gifts, he will spend more time just in parallel play instead flirting. Ironically words sometimes fail him when he genuinely cares so he will show you instead.

20. What’s it like to see them smile? Their laugh?

Very rarely does Ettore not smile in some degree. He’s optimistic and cheerful and friendly and 99% of the time it's genuine! Is it still a coping mechanism? Absolutely. I don't know how to describe it but if I had to explain his laugh, it would be a Ferelden laugh, like his Ferelden comes through the usual Antivan edge to his tone so much when he laughs. He sounds a lot like Alistair when he laughs.

21. What does Rook’s voice sound like? One of the voice options available, or do they have a different accent/voicecast?

Whoops answered this in the previous one. After spending so many years in Antiva, the accent absolutely stuck. But there is moments his Ferelden comes through, primarily when he laughs or gets a bit tipsy. He doesn’t drink much or often but when he does that Ferelden comes back into his voice. Threw Viago off the first time he heard it. 

23. What does Rook wear in the off hours? Do they like dressing up?

Tight pants, billowing shirt, tiddies out <3

24. Does Rook have any nightly rituals before bed?

Ettore and Steph have an elven lantern that sits on their bedside table that they use to communicate if one of them gets up in the night/wanders off. So he always makes sure it’s set to the equivalent of ‘here’ when he gets into bed. 

While the Lighthouse feels safe, Ettore can’t sleep without doing a perimeter check just to be sure, and prior to Lucanis and Spite getting along, would check if the wards were up on the pantry door on the rare occasion Lucanis had actually retired for the night.

25. How does Rook like to spend their free time?

Parallel play! He likes being around people!! He finds most comfort around them! Doesn’t matter what he’s doing, if he’s tending to his armour, his blades, reading Bellara’s stories, messing with recipes (yes he is someone who will take a recipe and then mess with it, cookbook with tabs all over it) if someone else is there then he’s happy. 

Very infrequently, he will go to Antiva alone tho and just go for a run across the rooftops and enjoy the night sky/beauty of Antiva.

26. Rook is in charge of the grocery list. What’s on it?

Everything everyone needs plus his own stuff. Antiva shopping run with Lucanis is a frequent endeavor.

27. When was the last time they cried?

He doesn’t often cry, but 10/10 easiest way to make him cry is just let him sit with his parents’ gravestones in the memorial garden. He used to be very unnerved by the place but now it is a great sense of peace for him.

28. Does Rook have any pets/animal companions?

Steph has a wisp that won't leave him alone lmao. I guess that counts. 

Given a chance, Ettore would adopt all the cats. He does miss having a mabari sometimes.

43. Is Rook the type to gossip?

Absolutely, he loved chatting and getting the latest gossip. When Taash starting having feelings for Harding he was there in an instant like heeeeey :D (and then Harding… kjdbgksdg)

46. What does it take to earn Rook’s trust?

Ettore is fairly easy to trust, but he lives with one foot out the door, and if you betray him it’s gonna take a very long time to earn it back. Talk the talk and walk the walk. Words are one thing but if you don't back it up with action. If you are not loyal or true to your morals you won’t get far and he will stay one foot out the door, or shut you out entirely. 

47. What’s Rook’s temper like?

Calculated and malicious. Ettore’s temper is like a slow acting poison. There is a chance you will see the sparks of electricity dance over his body when he’s angry, but at the same time, you’d probably look down and see you’ve been stabbed.

4. What does Solas think of Rook?

A little bird daring to torment a wolf. He did not appreciate the jabs/saw Ettore was trying to test the limits of what he could get away with. He played into that, allowed the Crow to play and exchange words. Ultimately he still believed Ettore a pawn for his personal gain. Something Ettore was not happy about particularly cause it involved trapping Steph in the Prison of Regret too. He would have accepted the consequence if it was just him (even tho his partners still would have been mad/happy when he came back)

14. Do any romances bloom between the other Veilguard companions? What does Rook think of the pairings?

Taash and Harding do get together and Ettore is very supportive of it and supportive when Harding makes the ultimate sacrifice.

15. Who else has a crush on Rook?

Davrin and Ettore did the whole predator/prey flirting dance and they both enjoyed it immensely but Ettore didn’t feel the click and ultimately broke off their little crush session not wanting to lead Davrin on to which he was disappointed but understanding it wouldn’t be a long term thing. At least for now.

Ettore was sweet on Bellara, thinks she is wonderful and deserves so much kindness. She had a bit of a crush on Ettore but Ettore sees her more as a sister rather than a potential lover. Bellara found it a little awkward and found it hard to look at Ettore for a while but they’re good~

Taash and Ettore are a mess (affectionate), while they both thought taamlok was where they were at and they were for a while, ultimately the two decided they enjoyed being friends with benefits rather than actively pursuing a committed relationship, especially when Taash started having feelings for Harding.

Ettore had a one sided crush on Emmrich for a short while and enjoyed flirting with him and enjoyed his attention but circumstance didn’t give him time to explore it as his relationship with Lucanis became more serious. Doesn’t mean they didn’t exchange a kiss ohoho.

18. Does anyone notice Rook talking to Varric? Do they say anything?

For better or worse Stephen and Ettore go into the infirmary to talk to Varric and the team don’t really think much of it. If anyone notices anything, it’s noticing Stephen there. To which Ettore would just say Steph struggles with not having Varric’s guidance and the team doesn't press. Ettore does get a strange inkling something isn’t right. Maybe it's the wards Neve put in his mind to push Solas out?? Who knows! 

21. What’s Rook’s relationship with Assan? What about Manfred?

Assan is his feathery son. He loves that griffon so damn much. He wants a griffon lmao. Manfred and Ettore have a good relationship, Manfried and Steph get along better. When Emmrich becomes a lich, Ettore advises to Steph that the deal only said Emmrich couldn’t bring Manfred back, nothing about someone else finding him. One of many reasons Steph goes to train with the Mourn Watch. (spoiler: he will succeed)

22. In Rook’s opinion, was the best meal Bellara prepared? And Lucanis?

As much as he enjoys cooking he also enjoys not having to cook lmao. He loves trying Dalish recipes from Bellara. Lucanis makes the best desserts.

23. What does Isabela think, when she meets Rook? What’s their relationship?

Isabela swears his face looks familiar but cannot place where she has seen it (two decades prior, at the Pearl, she may or may not have slept with all of Ettore’s parents, at once! She also may or not have been the reason Ettore is here now lmaooo) they have a good relationship, and Isabela SWEARS she recognizes those blades. Ettore knows who she is but says nothing on purpose lmao.

24. What were the thoughts growing through Rook’s head, at D’Meta’s Crossing? What did they decide to do with the mayor?

He absolutely hates the blight. He’s never really seen much of it before. But now he has he hates it. It’s so much worse than what his parents described and it terrifies him that his parents faced that, But it also gives him strength. He’s furious at the mayor and if the blight wasn't holding him up he would have killed the mayor himself.

25. Does Rook save Minrathous or Treviso? How did they decide?

Treviso is home. Treviso is a merchant city with no military. Minrathous has a force, he trusts they could hold out/be less worse off. It's a no brainer to him to go to Treviso. The true surprise was Stephen coming with him instead of going home to Minrathous.

26. What does Rook tell Emmrich, when he asks them about funerary rite preferences?

Ettore tries real hard not to think of his own death. But he would want to be buried with his family or with his partners if they all agree on a specific place. (Tbh still probably in the memorial gardens. Caterina would be rolling in her grave for Lucanis breaking traditions/what she wants lmao)

27. Dorian’s opinion of Rook:

This lil guy is hilarious, my son could do so much better but if he’s happy I’m happy. Having a Crow as a bodyguard is a very good thing too. He also finds it hilarious watching Ettore try and get his husband’s approval. 

28. What does Rook think of Dorian?

He likes Dorian a lot. Of Stephen’s dads, Dorian actually likes him better too so he wants to keep that good relationship.

He absolutely gives them little gifts. Whenever they go he will look at the merchant shops, he'll toss a coin to those in need. If he sees something he thinks a companion will like he'll probably buy it. Snacks/ingredients for cooking are the biggest go to tho.

He does however leave a bunch of little notes tucked in the pages of books his partners are reading, and sometimes the other companions too as a fun lil surprise. ‘You thought i wasn’t thinking about you when I was away on a mission? Think again!’

31. Which locations (Docktown, Arlathan etc) does Rook like to visit the most? And the least?

Nothing beats Antiva/home in Ettore's mind. But Arlathan is a close second cause it reminds him of being in Ferelden. 

Least favourite is Kal-Sharok or anywhere that is near the Deeproads. He'll go there if he has to but he will not be happy about it. Enclosed space with darkspawn and blight? Big no.

33. What does the Inquisitor think, when they first meet Rook?/34. What’s Rook’s opinion of the Inquisitor? What’s it like, working together?

This and 34. Go hand in hand so. The inquisitor he hoped to see was Jay so he could assassinate her. The Inquisitor he got was Soren (Steph's dad) who has OPINIONS about him. Ettore is always on his best behaviour around him. He's screaming internally. Meanwhile Soren still thinks his son deserves better and while he has come to accept Steph is madly in love with Ettore and will respect that, he likes messing with Ettore just to keep him on his toes.

36. Does Rook support Emmrich’s aspirations of lichdom?

Ettore does, he sympathizes and understands how badly Emmrich wants this and knows how much happier he'd be and how good of a protector of the necropolis he'd be. Steph thinks it's not worth it for the sake of Manfred coming back or not. Ettore wins Steph over on it by pointing out a loophole in the deal that would mean they both win.

37. Who does Rook find themself turning to for advice?

Out of Viago and Teia, he will go to Teia lmao. If she's not available or he only has the team to turn to, it's usually Lucanis, Neve, or Davrin depending on the circumstance.

38. Which companions best compliment Rook’s abilities on the battlefield?

Lucanis is a no brainer, the Crows find their rhythm and tandem much like Viago and Teia.

39. What’s it been like, living in the Lighthouse?

He likes it purely for it being a bridge amongst the Eluvians that means he gets to stay at Steph's side. He's not a big fan of the lack of day/night cycle but it's fit for purpose and its safe and Solas can fight him for it cause he's very much a this is our home now. It's free real estate.

40. What was going through Rook’s head, facing down the first archdemon at Weisshaupt?

‘Oh shit oh fuck oh shit oh fuck, concentrate,  fuck fuck fuck’ <- basically summed it up. He latched onto Lucanis's dark humour and matched it with his own, it kept him focused enough not to panic seeing an actual archdemon in his lifetime. That's what his parents faced during the fifth blight!

41. Who does Rook choose to bring down the wards, Neve or Bellara? How do they feel about the outcome?

Neve. And part of him is like jfc not again. But he's also a until I see a body I wont be entirely convinced so seeing her again was the best and hurt seeing her blighted but mad respect to her for taking back her city by any means necessarily. He's also incredibly relieved to see her blight disappeared.

42. Who leads the second charge, Lace or Davrin? What is Rook’s response, at the end?

Harding takes the charge. He is sad about what happened to her but they all knew the cost and what everyone was prepared to do. If he regrets anything it would be not knowing her personally much earlier. Steph however takes it much harder.

43. What does Rook do if they can’t sleep?

Bother someone who is awake or go for a jog (aka freerunning until he feels like he can sleep)

48. Does Rook have any unfinished personal business that needs to be resolved? (What’s their loyalty quest?)

Ettore’s loyalty quest is allowing himself to accept his parents’ deaths and that killing inquisitor Jay would help absolutely no one. His revenge isn’t worth it. He needs Steph to drag him to the Necropolis, and he needs Emmrich to teach him about the mourn watch, about the rituals for the dead. He needs to talk to Emmrich about losing parents, not having bodies to bury, and finding peace by talking to the gravestones. Once that happens Ettore’s anger towards inquisitor Jay mellows. He doesn't trust he wouldn’t try and assassinate her if they met in person, but it’s no longer a high priority. Just don’t tell the Crows.

50. What ending does Rook choose for Solas?

He’s so fkn bitter, he wants to just fight the wolf and put him down but he’s not foolish enough to think he can actually kill Solas even if he’s wounded without dire consequence. And fixing the world needs Solas to cooperate. So with his godmother’s (Morrigan) help, Ettore and Steph convince Solas for redemption.

It sadden me to know Gale is not really a loved character outside of tumblr, the man is a gem - a husband material all the way (to me at least) - He loves animals: has a cat and plays with Scratch (he keeps the ball in his tent TT-TT) - He is a nerd, a fine cook, has a house with a sea view. The way he looks at Tav would make anyone melt - He is an honest guy and a very supportive friend and lover, holds tav in very high regard, values their opinions and puts them in his top priority. He was the perfect companion for an altruistic adventurer! (At least i'm glad he's being truly respected here on tumblr)

38. What would be their ideal evening in?

Sitting by the fire in Eury's quarters with the pillows and blankets on the floor, the balcony doors open to let in the night air. There's books, Eury's crafts, maybe a chess board strewed about them, with a plate of food and wine within easy reach. Maybe Eury's fox Yappers has decided to join them, curled up in a ball by Cullen's stomach. There's not much talking; not much noise in general. Just the two of them quietly enjoying each other's company. They don't have to perform for anyone when they're alone like this.

86. Who gives the best gifts? Who gives the more thoughtful? Who goes for expensive?

So here's the thing; part of me thinks neither of them really has a concept of money. Cullen didn't have to pay for anything for seventeen long years and all his paychecks go off to his family. Eurydice had little interaction with human merchants prior to DAI and during DAI most of her financial transactions were handled by Josie. So, who has the most expensive? Both? Neither? They don't know they just get it and go. Let me tell you living on their own for the first time after Inquisition is going to be a ride what do you mean you gotta pay taxes??? I digress: Cullen is the one who buys gifts for Eurydice because he doesn't know how to make things (although later in life he takes up knitting and makes her a sweater with a poorly made mabari that looks like a potato on it). She told him a few times that she likes hair ribbons and it was the only thing she ever really wanted from shem merchants because they were so pretty, but she would get self conscience when she went up to stalls and never pick anything out. Her excuse is that a strip from one of her skirts work just as well, and she wouldn't want to get them dirty anyway. Cullen started picking her up spools of fine ribbon when ever he passes through markets. Of course, there are whispers about why the Commander has to buy boxes full of lady's hair ribbons, but its just for fun. It's not it isn't an open secret when the Inquisitor wears those very same ribbons in her hair the next day. Eurydice makes her gifts and they usually come in the form of woven leather bracelets. She's a perfectionist when it comes to those and so she's always fretting about them when she gives them to Cullen, muttering that it isn't good enough and it will break. Cullen wears every single one and those he can't wear, he keeps in a box by his bedside. That perfectionist nature comes through in other gifts as well: for one of his birthdays (prior before their courtship) Eurydice made him a sword that was meant to be for his exact skillset and enchanted against demon attack. She gave it to him three months later because went through four different prototypes before she decided it was good enough.

Alistair/Seren/Morrigan

16. Who is the better caretaker? Does their S/O like being taken care of?

Alistair. Seren doesn't know how to take care of someone outside their emotional needs and Morrigan is...well, she's Morrigan. She wasn't liable to take care of anyone before Kieran. Alistair isn't exactly great at either but I think out of the three he had the most emotional maturity to know what to do. Morrigan doesn't like to be taken care of either so even when Seren tried, it would be like trying to get a cat in a bath. Seren acts like she wants to be pampered but she actually bristles when people start to dig too deeply with her. Alistair needs to be coaxed into being taken care of because he feels like he's so undeserving sometimes and he brushes it off with a joke. Obviously that changes when they're older but these three kids are far too traumatized by the time of Origins to take care or be taken cause of because both require vulnerability--and that's asking a lot for them when all they've ever done is wear masks.

29. What's an insecurity they hold about their relationship?

Alistair has little to no self esteem from his upbringing and thinks Seren is too good for him. Seren is so afraid of the world taking Morrigan and Alistair away that she works to lock them away in order to protect them. Morrigan has been so emotionally abused by Flemeth that she's convinced Seren will eventually hurt her and thus is ready to leave Seren first at the first sign because Morrigan would rather be the one doing the hurting. And all of them have experienced lose and death in such violent ways that even long after Origins, they're worried that one day the world is just going to slaughter their lovers and leave them alone. I think the Origins crew might be the most emotionally fucked up of all my kids, but to be entire fair, Origins is the most fucked up game in my opinion SOOOO.

52. Who cooks? Who does the dishes?

Alistair cooks. Morrigan cooks. Seren burns foods and does the dishes, but goes ew ew ew ew ew when she touches wet left over food.

Hawke/Fenris

18. They've had a major blowout. How do they handle it?

Well in the days of old, they'd just drop it and let it simmer between them. That doesn't quit work out when Garrett lets Fenris 'be' for three years because they're both afraid of a broken heart. Not talking about it doesn't help either of them so that was one of the first thing Garrett put down when they got back together: Fenris can't run, he has to talk about it with him. No matter how much it hurts or where it takes him, he can't just blow up and decide he'll deal with alone. And Garrett can't make his jokes and say he'll shoulder it himself, he also has to sit down and listen. Running away doesn't work, fighting it doesn't work, so facing it head on is what they do.

87. If they ever lost one another in a public place, how do they find the other?

Garrett climbs the nearest post and starts surveying the area and when that doesn't work, he starts calling Fenris' name through his cupped hands. Fenris just needs look for a 6'3 ft dumbass hanging from a roof top and drag him down by his boot.

The fact that every single thing in life feels muted, (Name) thinks, might be her saving grace.

It’s keeping her from fighting back; keeping her alive, at least for the time being. Every touch on her skin is dull, like she can feel she’s being touched but sensation itself is missing. Her captors have bathed her, dressed her, bound and caged her, and she can’t describe their touches as positive or negative. They just are.

It means she doesn’t retaliate to stop them, because nothing about this is causing her pain, is it? On the other side of the coin, however, it also means that in her whole life, she’s never felt anything good. Everything seems grey at best. She’s gone through life feeling absolutely nothing, no spark of joy nor weight of sadness. Although she’s felt the hint of those things, or what they should be, nothing has come close to the way she sees other people live once they’ve found their soulmates.

The chattering of the crowd, clinking of wine glasses, and the auctioneer selling off the other ladies might as well be a low hum.

Her attention is only pulled when the footsteps of low-heeled boots approach her cage, followed by the auctioneer addressing whoever is interested. “I see this one has caught your fancy, my lord! “May I?” The other voice is low and smooth, with an undertone of something playful beneath the darkness of anyone who would intend to purchase another human being.

The man who’s interested in her doesn’t hesitate. (Name) can feel his hands behind her head, untying the black lace cloth which blinded her for the auction. When it falls down, she’s staring into the violet eyes of a man who threatens to take her breath away by his very appearance alone. She’s never seen anyone so gorgeous, dressed all in elegant white with soft blonde hair that gathers around his shoulders like a crown of feathers.

What startles her more is that when he puts his hand on her face, she can feel it. It isn’t the dull pressure of knowing that someone is touching her. It’s the texture of his glove, the gentle way he cradles her cheek, the snap of someone being suddenly awaken after walking around dead.

It’s him. The one her heart has been looking for is right here, breathing life into her world with a single touch of his hand.

Who is he? Why is her intended here? What is he doing in a seedy place like this, seeking to buy a person? If he pays the auctioneer for her, if he leads her out of here, what will the next cage he leads her into be like?

For the first time in her life, her emotions are clawing at her chest to get out, a wonderful and terrible mix of fear and adoration.

Those eyes of his stand out more than anything. They sparkle at her like precious jewels, reflecting the same desire that she can feel. The sensations of her, of the rest of the world, are finally taking form for him too. Incredible and overwhelming and threatening to swallow him whole, just as is happening with her.

He seems to fall for her in a single instant. She thinks she could drag him to his knees right now and he would have no complaint. That makes her feel powerful and wanted, but it also frightens her.

Someone so devoted to her after knowing her for just a moment ― what is a man like that capable of? What will he do with her? What will he do?

His touch travels to her neck, tracing delicate lines. He doesn’t appear to want to hurt her, does he? That doesn’t mean he’s harmless. She arches her head back anyway, exposing her throat for him as if he can be trusted with it.

At last, he utters three words that seal her fate: “I’ll take her.”

In the blur that follows, the auctioneer is paid, (Name)’s new owner finishes his wine, and he holds her delicately as he leads her down the stairs. Even though she’s out of her cage, she doesn’t think she’s actually free.

“Come along, lovebird,” he murmurs into her ear. “I can’t wait to get to know the one who lit up my world.”

She isn’t sure what to think; too many new, fully blossomed emotions make her feel like they’re going to burst her open at the seams.

She leans against him regardless, somehow content in his embrace.

He doesn’t seem cruel, at least toward her.

Maybe that’s enough for her heart to settle.

ysolt cousland: ended up queen of ferelden (❤alistair❤), brokered peace between dalish and wolves, killed isolde, bhelen rules, supported mages, urn not poisoned, alistair had baby w morrigan

alden hawke: bethany died. basically always support the mages and act against the templars. carver became a templar. started romancing fenris but it ended. pines for varric. all allies alive and well <3

helle lavellan: heartbroken (thanks solas🫶), leliana is divine, blackwall left, saved the chargers, allied w the mages, allowed stroud to die (might change in future, depending on varric's fate in datv🤪), exiled the wardens, celene rules w briala

7. Which character from the previous games or other media are you most hoping will make an appearance in DAV?

i'm very fortunate to be blessed with basic taste so my two faves (solas, varric) have already appeared lol. i am 🤞hoping🤞 that merrill will be somehow involved and perhaps fenris! they could have plot relevant reasons for being there but!!!! i just really wanna see my beloved krem😭 i won't hold my breath tho lol

11. What's one thing you'd really like to see in this next game?

solavellan reunion that's properly explored and given enough attention and time 🫶 and!!! elven lore!! i wanna see the evanuris and all the fucked up shit they did (maybe not all....... yikes) but i wanna see solas have a bad time and then just have an ending for him that feels satisfying

Headcanons for me myself & I because I’m the only one who cares

Jack Sparks has few friends & isn’t close with very many people. In fact, you might call him an insufferable narcissist. Dude truly never shuts the fuck up, & he basically only ever talks about himself. So those he is close with absolutely have to resort to tickling him if they ever wanna get a word in edgewise

It’s the best way to humble him, so he desperately tries to keep his sensitivity a secret. Can’t let all the people know the great Jack Sparks is *gasp* ticklish!

Even tho he’s not in touch with his brother Alistair anymore, when they were growing up, he was always the loser in their tickle fights. Just comes with being the younger sibling

Whenever they would meet up, Alistair likes to rag on him & tickle him when he’s not expecting it. Because sometimes he needs to be reminded he’s his brother & not only the acclaimed journalist

Bex’s only defense against Jack’s endless blabbermouth & pompous, holier than thou personality is to tickle him senseless. & this really doesn’t help with his hopeless crush on her

Since she’s he’s roomie, she’s basically the only one who tickles him anymore, which he tries not to think about because wtf he should be happy no one does that to him anymore…

He’s already an unreliable narrator so you know he’s in such denial about how ticklish he is. At first he flat out denies it in the most matter of fact tone he can muster. But if you manage to get him to crack he concedes that he might be just a wee bit ticklish, but barely. He just really tries to downplay it

Next thinks it’s the funniest thing in the world & loves nothing more than to rub it in. Sometimes he’ll just be watching tv or trying to work & she pops out of nowhere & wrecks him just for the fun of it. She says just living with him is justification enough

Because he’s investigating the supernatural for this book, he stays in a few haunted hotels & b&b’s to see if he experiences anything. At one of these places, he was woken up in the middle of the night by something tickling him. & not a light tickling either, his room got a noise complaint. The staff were sympathetic & amused because this shit just happens sometimes but he is SO huffy & flustered & is a dick to them all because their ghosts can’t keep their hands to themselves

He does NOT put that in the book. Not only is his entire world view recently shattered because holy shit ghosts are real, but he cannot grapple with the humiliation that he was tickled by one. He’d rather die than put that in his book (HA!)

amell is already a harrowed mage, around anders age, and he is primarily a primal mage like most circle mages. hes a massive dick tho, cos hes my 'evil' playthrough character of sorts. to the point that anders fights to not mention how horrible it was to know amell cos he's such an ass. he wants to go to tevinter for the mage freedom part, but refuses to 'lose' by becoming a blood mage, and the slavery part wouldn't necessarily be a deal breaker. dies during uldreds uprising. Would have romanced morrigan and recruited loghain and sent alistair away to be a drunk :(

mahariel was my take on a dalish elf scared and distrustful of humans cos she's seen them hurt her people so much. dies from the taint, but shes surrounded by her family and friends in her final moments and gets told about what happened to her parents. Would have romanced no one, she would have did the ultimate sacrifice and died cos while she didn't like being a warden or never being able to go home, she still respected them

tabris is a devout andrastian and was looking forward to her wedding day, but that's not to last ofc. She tries despite her hardships to find the good in people, or else her suffering made her worse. she gets executed by hanging, probably either in the alienage or they dump her body there, but either way those scumbag humans are dead that hurt her and her cousin. Would have romanced leliana and killed the archdemon herself w the dark ritual cos shes afraid of death

brosca gets caught in the proving and dies in a cell next to her friend, that's canon we See the dead body (bones?) but she cared for her sister and sometimes her mom, and leske and she was so gnc. doesn't regret what she did but hopes her sister makes it and is happy. Would have romanced zevran and refused the dark ritual and sacrifice alistair

aeducan is similar to trian and everything wrong w dwarven society so bhelen never felt bad about killing his brother. would have been a deadbeat dad to that kid he has too. dies fighting a hurlock in the deep roads ofc, and wouldn't have romanced anyone cos there aren't dwarf female companions in dao and done an ultimate sacrifice death

cousland is a rich snotty noble who im torn on making a man or woman, but either way they don't respect other people especially those below them and would have been another evil run and they r devout andrastian as well, but the shitty kind unlike tabris, so they're v much a 'rich waspy christian' stereotype and they also suck, and had a one night stand w that one guy in the prologue I forgor his name. incredibly selfish. would have tried romancing zevran as a side piece and leliana as a main course so to speak. becomes king and kills alistair cos he's a theirin :( oh I guess I made him a guy lol

i love the idea that their character arcs are sort of going in...opposite directions? if that makes sense? like despite the fact they have similar brands of tragic backstory, the actual circumstances of the tragic backstory diverge such that zev is recruited into an order that makes him distrust people and alistair is recruited into an order that, in his mind, is the only people he CAN trust, but in the game itself zev is "softening"/opening up and alistair (in more interesting characterization directions lol) is hardening/losing his naivete its So Cool

attempted murder is ? because that's more the warden than alistair but it's close enough that i think it'd be a bit for them LMAO

the specific combo of zev being super forward sexually/a bit harder to reach romantically (iirc i need to replay origins Stat) and alistair being very forward romantically but inexperienced sexually is...Very Good for ship dynamic/conflict purposes...

besides that tho they're just silly. like they both make jokes and do the hahas. what more could you want

so full disclosure i've never done a playthrough of origins (or at least not gotten to the landsmeet with a warden that had this as the plan of action) with alistair and anora co-ruling which may be coloring my opinions A Lot but i'm glad you asked about it because i've been meaning to think up a scenario that i'd want to use it for (ive kept alistair as a warden, married him myself, and had him rule alone hardened fwiw)

my ideal scenario/conception of this is absolutely a like. starts literally Zero romantic interest. probably some degree of contempt, even. but through a comical series of events they end up doing pretty much everything couples do besides really "having feelings" in such a way that they're like. ticking off boxes on the Businesslike Relationship List and Getting a Good Grade in Marriage. like ok honey great work out there today. we had a functional discussion about what dishware we want to purchase, planned our next ten years of children, and practiced a polite amount of public affection while negotiating with a diplomat. here's what's on the docket for tomorrow. and through that practicality they become fond for each other? sort of? idk i still think lingering contempt is a Hallmark of their vibes and what makes it work for me as a concept

i can...sort of see them developing proper romantic feelings for each other on like Year Fifteen of Marriage maybe but tbh its more a hard-earned-despite-the-circumstances-respect flavor of romance like. you are a Stable Feature in my life. and not so much "storybook" romance which tbh would be really interesting for a character like alistair to have to work through considering How He Is in his warden romance (and iirc you Have to harden him to even do this so itd be...neat to dovetail that with that element of his development specifically re: i have to call up the desire for romance i had before i Lost My Innocence as a mask for the public to idealize re: our marriage/rule and its legitimacy but also i do not believe in it anymore. we love a lil cognitive dissonance)

probably obvious from how i talk about it but tbh not something i "ship" LOL not even in a "they're so toxic it's fun" type of ship way...idk they are a narrative device to me. the most fun they can have is a divorce arc

What was the first Dragon Age game you played? Dragon Age: Origins in 2011, I didn't know shit, I didn't understand shit, but I LOVED IT. It was dark and grimy and waaayyy to hard for me at the time, and I've fucked up so many things I'm sure, but I mostly can't remember it.

Which Dragon Age game is your favorite so far? It's DA2. I've played through it at least seventeen times, with full playthroughs being like seven, six or seven. I have my Hawke's story down to every little minute detail and I absolutely adore the story and the companions and EVERYTHING. Sure, it has some flaws, but eh. I love it nonetheless.

Do you usually play as a warrior, mage, or rogue? Which class are you planning to try first this time around? Which subclass? Oh, mage, mage all the way. And yes, I do play blood mage Hawke (trailer canon!) but I never use the sacrifice spells because it feels wrong. Technically in my HCs she only started using blood magic after the events of Kirkwall, so eh. And my Inqui is a riftmage. My Warden is a dalish elf, so she's an assassin duelist - and I don't really know mage classes in DAO whoops.

What does your worldstate look like going into DAV? Uhhhhh I can't possibly state every single choice, but. Alistair is king, Kieran is his son. Hawke supported mages. Inquisitor drank from the well and promised to talk Solas out of his bad choices.

Do you typically use a preset character and name or spend hours in the character creator coming up with a custom one? I customized my elves, but I love the default Hawke so damn much she is as she is. I will customize my Rook though, that's for sure.

Do you have your Rook(s) planned out to any degree? If so, would you share some details or ideas you have? Not yet, to be honest, but I'm glad we have n/b options! Lately I've been loving non-binary protags (the remaster of Saints Row and Baldur's Gate 3 have blessed me with those options).

Which character from the previous games or other media are you most hoping will make an appearance in DAV? Dorian is a given, Fenris too. I hope for DAA cameos - like Miriam! And Qwydion!!

What faction are you most excited to learn more about? Veil Jumpers, most probably, although Shadow Dragons sound cool as fuck. Hell yeah, resistance!!

Which romance, if any, do you plan to pursue first? To be honest, as much as I love all the companions already, I'm not looking forward to any romances. I've joked about my love for elven boyfriends and Lucanis looks pretty sick, but so does Bellara. So, we'll see! Maybe I'll go the CBP route and pick an NPC who can't be romanced to headcanon our relationship lol.

Which location are you most excited/hoping to explore in-game? Minrathous looks SICK. I can't wait to run around this dark and gloomy magic city like DAMN. Also the nevarran Necropolis!!

What's one thing you'd really like to see in this next game? Not sure there is anything in particular, I'm just excited about the game itself. Unexpected cameos would be banger tho.

What's one thing you're hoping we DON'T see in this next game? Erasure of past historical events to smooth out the plot. Like. Please.

What's one thing you've seen confirmed so far that you're a fan of? The battles. I know people like strategy and tactics, but the flashy battles are amazing. Also mages can MOVE WHILE CASTING FINALLY.

What's one thing you've seen confirmed so far that you're NOT a fan of? Uhhh there was something, but it was so miniscule that I can't even remember it right now.

Do you have any unpopular opinions about DAV so far? Nope, not that I know of.

What's one crack theory you subscribe to (yours or someone else's)? That Solas sucks with his plans and we'll have him as an ally yet again lmao. Does that count?

Are you interested in all the lore and speculation or do you focus more on the games and stories themselves? I don't read books/comics myself, but I enjoy reading theories of people that do. I mostly am interested in the plot of the games.

Which aspect of fandom are you most looking forward to? (e.g. reading/writing fic, the bounty of gorgeous art, getting to know new people, etc.) NEW ARTWORK. I don't read much DA fanfiction, but ARTWORK.

Are you planning to replay any of the previous games, watch Dragon Age: Absolution, or read any of the books/comics/short stories, or are there other games you want to play in the meantime? I am currently replaying DA:I :)
