i gotta deal w people's shitty comments on my lisa video so you also have to deal with my (not actually shitty) thoughts on joyful again just bc i want to vent after seeing those comments lmao

there was one especially that was stating the new end dialog at Buzzo defeats to purpose of why he is biting himself during battle in order to avoid fighting Buddy. like. Buddy may have absolutely beat him near death with her words but like. so much of his problems arent about Buddy and how he reacted to her, him attacking himself has to do with how he blames himself so hard for so much of what happened too. I don't think he's necessarily avoiding attacking Buddy (to some level i would say yes) he is just literally breaking down and hates himself so much.

Which also is where my thought goes towards why the dialog exists and why she talks that way at him. i want to wholly say i dont love the dialog even if i think some parts are good... overall i probably wouldnt have wanted all that? much like all of Joyful, its poorly paced, and i think that just added to the bad pacing, its very sudden and also very long. but in the original buzzo completely blames himself for everything and with little else happening it kinda comes out like it is supposed to be his fault. they dont say much else. and i was less of a fan of that because it didnt feel right to brush off all of everyone's actions (esp brad's) because apparently it was buzzo's fault for starting a lot of it. you could assume again that its just him blaming himself and to not take it seriously, but there just isnt much done at the end to make that the intent.

this dialog does that... to the extreme i guess. when i think about it being some kind of outlet for the dev, i say that in the sense that it kinda feels like backtracking to give a proper verbal beat down on how you shouldnt have taken it that way. and dare i say it feels like commentary to how fans took it too. not in the way that its insulting fans for not liking the game. but going through old topics forums etc i noticed a ton of people after this game took lisa as being horrible. which was a shock to me. sure, buzzo's secret showed how their relationship was, and the epilogue showed some awful stuff buzzo had to do. to me the new dialog feels like an attempt add what couldnt be said, and to say 'no actually you shouldnt assume this about lisa--' to buzzo as a character and also projecting out to fans reacting the same.

its a shame this game is still hindered by its pacing because if it was slowed down to tackle all these ideas, i think itd be a good game. bc i dont mind the ideas, plot, and even characterization.

You’d been worried that when you had been sucked into Devildom, you wouldn’t be able to access the game due to, yknow, realm differences, but luckily that wasn’t the case thanks to Levi, and hence why the moment it dropped, you had been spending your life savings simping for characters on every banner.

But Lucifer does smile the smallest of smiles as he sighs, finding it silly to really get jealous over such a small thing and says

Well you kinda deserve it, so it wasnt long before both his work and your phone had been ditched

( After a while you do kinda see him quite similar to Diluc and it just makes you smile everytime you think about it, seems you have a thing for the strict cold men huh?)

He also goes out of his way to memorize locations for materials for you, and when youre sick or busy, he pilots your account

Ok so,,, I basically just lurk and admire things in my own little corner. I dont use socials. I haven't been on tumblr for a loooong long while. Twitter is,,, scary. But I have to have a place to grieve about this where I can find others who understand. So I'm here. To vent. To find comfort. Let go.

I never formally got to interact with the fandom since I never built up the courage to try (I'm very socially anxious on the internet 💀), but Ranfren has seriously been something special to me over the past year I knew of it and has brought me immense joy in my own small corner.

And I'm Beyond Devastated that this has all come out about Captian.

It was funny!! It was spooky!! It was super funky!! It had anime !!! Its was just the right meld of these elements and god it was a vibe. The level of inspiration I was drawing from their work specifically was on a level I haven't felt before. I dont think another artist has ever griped me with their style like that, given me that "a-ha!" Moment about what direction I wanna take my own style in. It actually was so inspirational it was part of what helped me get back on track last year trying to pursue art school again. Captain's weird and wonderful characters and surreal artworks went on my vision board cause I felt that strongly about wanting to find a style like that. I wanted to try and get the courage to thank Captian one day for seriously giving me hope again, maybe after I got in and refined my own style so I had something to show for it. maybe I would have even cried happy tears and did the whole dreams do come true bit standing in my dormroom.

And then this.

I'm now not crying happy tears. Just normal ones.

I'm still going to go forward to art school believe me - this is not the only thing that has been pushing me onwards as my household isnt a safe place. Fending of depression and trying to keep all the emotions at bay long enough so I can focus on moving forward, moving twoards living, has taken longer than I'd want to admit. But I seriously didnt need another bullet in my heart through this already trying time.

As much as I dearly love the webcomic, I absolutely cannot condone the harmful actions that have been carried out. and I can't continue enjoying the comic in good conscience when I know these things. And the way it's being handled leads me to believe there likely wont be a satisfactory conclusion to all of this, if there was any hope of one to begin with. Yes, people can change, people make mistakes, but if they can't see the clear pain its causing and realize its vitally important to at least give a small unofficial apology before they make a bigger one, and have the audacity let their friends deflect the blame for them ? When the bloods on their hands? Reguardless of what the truth is I'm doubting they sincirely care based on how it's being handled. And that makes me so sad. So so so so so very sad...

I hope they eventually do the right thing and make an actual apology soon? But I know I will not be able to look at Ranfren with the same soarkle in my eyes. And with all things considered that just fucking sucks.

hey from one nd person to another the comic where fm gordon says a slur seems kind of in poor taste. ik ur not intentionally making light of it and tht occurring in fm should be criticized but while you dont make it out to be a good thing making jokes about it and calling him a "slurboy" is kind of questionable? it makes it seem more like a plotpoint and angst rather than the creator of fm genuinely fucking up in the past (and having moved on from it)! i think exploring fm coming to terms with being nd is a good idea but this isnt the best way to do it. if you want me to explain my point more lmk if/when u post this and i will! someone already made a post abt it but it was kinda strongly worded and i wanted to approach you more calmly because i genuinely dont want to call you out or start drama or anything ;-;

i would like to know how is it in poor taste when freemind explicitly gets clocked at the very end for saying it. the entire point of the comic was to show that saying the r slur has existed in his source and is bad

im not sure how much more direct i can get, with the disclaimer/warning list growing longer and longer and out there for a huge sign that says “this au can get dark as fuck and these subject matters are treated seriously/not something to mess around with.” Like yes, there are some jokes in the asks and other comics, but that specific comic is not supposed to be “haha thats funny”. it has a serious tone using a rough sketch style bc i was super tired and wanted to vent

was it just the direct reference to it that just made people uncomfortable? because thats 100% understandable, and i made sure i tagged it appropriately (although admittedly, a little bit late since i thought the filter would catch at least the main thing)

i think what some people somehow got from it is “exploring sensitive content = endorsing said content” which! that is not the intent! i absolutely do not want people saying that word! I don’t want people thinking that is any way okay for this character to say

its more of a damned if i do address it, damned if i dont.

if it never comes up, people are gonna assume that ‘oh this character says slurs and is shit, surely the creator or fan-creator MUST be okay with it and woobifies freemind and absolves him of any mistakes’ or something like that. no. this asshole has an arc and i want to do it right. its serious and i think it shouldn’t be shoved under the rug

and people just. dont want to read for context for whatever reason. theyll start watching it and get taken aback by the slur and start blaming me ‘hey you never warned for this’ when very early on i keep mentioning over and over ‘you dont have to watch it if you dont want to! This has slurs and 2000s internet brand humor/style’ You really dont, I’m not forcing you to watch it- Literally all you need to know is either canon half life or hl/vrai. thats it. fm mostly follows hl1 with very slight changes.

so i had to make something that:

1. warns people who arent aware and dont want to go through my asks or about/warning pages (for whatever reason) and just want to see the art

2. also NOT downplay freemind’s canon assholery. listen, i kinda despise writing mean and cruel characters, theyre hard to do, and a lot of people get shit for doing it wrong or people going “character = author”

i’ve also considered leaving the bubbles blank, but then people could fill it with whatever they want, then blame me for being vague. or they’d fill it in with a different kind of slur that freemind has never used, even if he MIGHT be the type to do that. I needed to explicitly mention that it is ableist slur. There are shitty racist and other problematic jokes, but never those kinds of extreme racial slurs to my knowledge.

Although I do see your point that maybe joking about it outside of the serious stuff might not be the best route. The slurboy jokes are getting stale, and I will try a better way to remind people.

The thing that gets to me is that it feels people are more than ready to defend either Ross Scott or Gordon Freeman the fictonal character himself. I don’t??? really care for Ross Scott, so I don’t know if he’s ever brought it up specifically. I’m not really calling him out or cancelling him. Idc for some white man’s feelings, im only bringing the timeframe of That era and reworking it to fit in This current era.

And I hate to break it to people: Gordon Freeman is a blank slate character, you can project whatever the hell you want on him as long as it’s not freakshit illegal garbage. The machinimas (fm, hl/vrai) do have SOME characterization that I want to nail down. It fucking sucks when characters are ooc, and I’m trying not to do that, even if it means sacrificing some comfort. But still mostly staying in my comfort zone if that makes sense

Dean and the Writers

Why do the writers always target Dean with being the bad guy? Seriously, I want to know. First, Davy Perez bought and gassed up that bus and aimed it straight at Dean. They made him lie to Amara. But given the nature of the storyline, God wants to destroy the entire planet. To stop God they also have to stop Amara. They can't just suddenly decide to lock up God because that makes Sam look bad that he bought into God's lies that it destroyed the balance. Either Sam was easily manipulated or Amara doesn't get a choice. She has to be on boaard whether she liked it or not. Otherwise the planet is dead. No way the show is going to send that message about 'Chief' so lets get make Dean the bad guy by refusing to mention or remind the auidence that there is no option but for Amara to be on board and they have to secrure her cooperation by any means necessry but can't remind fans of that. Then Dabb's assistant shoved Dean into traffic, with the whole lying to Sam thing. Not to mention teen Dean's treatment of ppor wooby Sammy. The secret wasn't even that big. Dean said just the week before that a sacrifice would be required and when isn't one but at least it wasn't them. Who do you think he was talking about Sam? Sam is so wishy washy he makes a token objection but refuses to take a stand. Its not like he was bending over backward to find another way. The secret Dean held onto for what a day or two changed absolutely nothing. They also bring out that old tired, 'Dean doesn't trust San argument as justification for the lie. It why the show framed it as Dean somehow making this major revelation and being meen to Sam. Then they had Dean get angry and yell and make selfish statements about how he wants off the hampster wheel. Conviently forgetting to mention that destroying Chuck also saves 6+ billion people. Then Sam totally over reacts but no one really cares becasue they can cheer Sam on because the writing once again framed Dean as in the wrong. Even though Sam could have taken a stance any time he wanted. (Sam with Cas. he was bragging to Dean just a few weeks ago about Jack being a weapon). Then we have Glynn who scored a direct hit this week. Despite, just a few eps ago we had Dean say he was trying to forgive Jack and baking him birthday cakes, they had him shout Dean wasn't family. She had to know the reaction that was getting from the fandom. To back that bus over him some more, of course Jack over hears. Dean pulling a gun on Sam and cocking it. Punching and head butting Sam. That ice cold speech he made to Jack in the car. But nothing once again about the fate of the world being at stake. Then we have Cas and Sam polishing each other's halos when their motivation is just as selfish as Deans'. Sam wants to save his girlfriend and Cas wants to save Jack. Okay, I get that, but at the same time they have no alternative and Chuck can squash them like a bug any time he wants. Sam and Cas are risking 6 billion+ peopple to safe a few. The writing frames this as Sam and Cas being morally right while Dean is wrong. WHen they are literally all doing this for personal gain. Berens is the worst of all when it comes to Dean hate. Dean hate has gone expontially since Mary died. Dean (and Sam) should be the victims here, not Cas and most certainly not Jack. But every controversial deciion that came up the show made Dean do it. (More wishy washy Sam over the Malak box. He made a token objection but took no real stand). But the show realized it went to far and Jack couldn't be this pure innocent soul after killing Mary so he did the next best thing. He shifted blame by having Dean annouce Cas was dead to him. Now suddenly the audience is made at Dean (WHich is what Berens wanted). Then instead of letting Dean be rightfully angry at Cas for lying about the snake, they had Cas flounce and act like the injured party and then validated Cas's actions by having Dean grovel on his knees. (Once again proving my point, because Dean kept a very minor secret for a day or two and got yelled at. Cas kept a secret that lead to Mary's death but yet Dean is still public enemy number one in the fandom. ) So I'm honestly and truly wondering, why do the writers feel this need to frame Dean in such a negative light while they keep framing Sam and Cas in a postitive one for the exact same actions. (Lying, secret keeping, and selfish motivations). What makes all this worse that the there is no time to build the character back up. When to they start showing us al lthe traits Dean had before Dabb took over. Dean's heart, his compassion, his ability to think outisde the box, his never say die attitude. How can people say Dean has had character growth when he only became this angry bitter person after Mary's death This week they seem determined to heap more grief and guilt on Dean. There is basically 1 ep left and that will be some big battle that I'm sure they will give the "lets all be friends" speech to Sam. I ask again when do they build Dean up? There is more to "character growth" then just pointing out flaws. This is why I'm dreading the next ep. Im fully expecting Berens to keep reversing that bus to run over Dean again and somemore After all if he is killing Cas he won't want the audience made at him. He'll want to shift blame and make it Dean's fault. I'm expecting Dean to come up the plan, insist on it, despite objections and it all goes wrong and Cas has to sacrifice himself to bail them out and everyone can be mad at Dean again. Why did the writers think that this character who is beloved by so many would be okay with them trashing the character this way right at the end, so that Dean isn't remembered as the complex, layered 3-D character, but a selfish, bitter and angry person. That isnt' character growth. Its character destruction. No wonder Jensen was so concered about Dean's legacy and said he would change how they got to the final episode. No wonder he mentioned specifically a 6 episode renewal on a streaming service. (Kind of specific and take on a whole new meaning with Jensen's produciton company. basically, yes i do feel the same so long as its not hurting the dog (i dont know if the collie folds are detrimental or not, if they arent then same to that) personally i greatly value agency over all aspects of life and that includes my pets. for things that are exclusively aesthetic in nature i do think its a little ridiculous to get judgmental and upset at buyers for that

if it were something like a breeder wanted a dog to be shown and was open about that, but the owner made an alteration like that to the animal, then the issue isnt so much the alteration as it is the conflict of interest and breech of trust. im not trying to advocate for peoples right to go behind their breeders backs or anything. im specifically wishing breeders didnt mind it at all

i already do think that there are many things about breed standards i dont agree with, in particular over-emphasis on arbitrary aesthetics. i think its odd to believe that dogs can and should have their ears altered one way, but not the other, when neither shape serves any purpose to begin with (and there is already lots of variety to crop styles)

As you said we don’t have to agree on this point, but I do disagree with some of what you’ve said.

Dying a dog’s fur is a ridiculous thing to be upset about because that is temporary. Same with cutting the hair- for the most part, unless it damages the coat beyond repair. Hair grows back. Deliberately changing a dog’s ears (or any other form of their presentation) is permanent. That means there is no way to fix it if shit hits the fan.

I do think it is a breeder’s right (responsibility even) to care about how their dogs turn out, and someone who deliberately changes what that dog is supposed to look like because they thought it looked nice without telling the breeder would definitely be considered a breach of trust in my book (if I bred, which I don’t, so grain of salt time). There are plenty of dogs out there that look that completely out of standard and the response really is that if you wanted that look why not go with that dog (general you) instead of buying a dog that was going to look a certain way before you changed it.

Additionally while you may not put a lot of value into cropping styles, there is less variance in correct crops for a doberman than you might think. This is why doberman breeders who are decent crop their puppies prior to going home- to prevent people from getting a shitty crop from a vet that doesn’t know the correct style. They teach new owners how to train the ears to stand and provide help in person whenever possible. You may see dobes with a lot of variance but that is not what is intended. And we have found that dobes without perfectly standing cropped ears have a seriously reduced chance of being adopted if their first home doesn’t work out, whether in rescue or from a breeder. I’ve spoken on this blog before about how if the ears aren’t nice cropped or natural, then the dog is that much less likely to generate interest. A friend of mine ended up with a dog that was missing half his natural ear due to an injury specifically because no one wanted him due to the cosmetic defect. So yes, arbitrarily deciding that (general) you like the natural-but-standing look is great until you have to rehome your dog for whatever reason and suddenly no one is interested and your dog languishes in a rescue environment for years because of (general) your choice to permanently change (general) your dog’s ears.

Cropping also used to have a purpose, back when it was more commonplace and the style was drastically different, and while today’s modern crops are much longer and no longer functional you cannot say there is absolutely no reason for them to be done. Just because I specifically would not crop my dog if I had a choice in the matter doesn’t mean I don’t recognize the history and function behind the procedure, even if I think it’s silly to continue to rationalize today’s looooooooooooooong crops with the same thinking.

I understand what you’re saying as well- many people are not comfortable with a breeder of a dog having a say in what they can or cannot do with their dogs, and for the most part I totally empathize. This is one thing, however, that I would not blame a breeder for being upset over. Even if Sushi and Fae were not show dogs, their breeders would not be happy with me if I just decided to post Sushi’s ears or glue Fae’s down just because I thought they’d look cuter that way. Their immediate responses would likely be why not get a panda shepherd or a chi mix from a shelter if I wanted that type of look, I’m sure. Keep in mind that Fae I own outright so technically whatever I do with her IS my decision and legally speaking there’s really nothing her breeders can do about whatever I decide except if I don’t want her anymore I have to give her back to them. But we formed that relationship and trust in order for them to trust me with her, and doing something that drastic would be going back on that trust.

Something I find a bit... missing... on tumblr and no this is not just @ you here I promise, is that people really do not understand what it’s like to have that type of connection with the person who produced your dog. They trusted you with a dog they did not have to sell to you, a dog they loved before it was born, a dog they have high hopes for... and I think a lot of people on here are a little too caught up in wanting the freedom to do whatever they want whenever they want however they want without realizing that there is someone who loved that dog before you were in the equation that would like some form of say over big decisions like that.

Anon bless, thank you for giving me an exuse to info dump about my au. Also just a warning this is going to mix characters from all 3 canons and its gonna be pretty long. So this au takes place in pleasent pines Connecticut (based on peaceful pines from the show) that is a paranormal hotspot of sorts. Its seen as a town curse and while many of the townsfolk are vaugley aware of the cryptids,ghosts,monsters,ect. That are apart of the town they tend to turn a blind eye/ignore it. This also has to do with the witch trials that took place in Connecticut hundreds of years ago which raises the towns superstitions. Beej, adam, babs are paranormal investigators who live out of their van with lydia who doesnt live in the van with them but helps them hunt the paranormal Beetlejuice/bj/beej (Lawrence beetlejuice Shaggoth) (23) is one of the local paranormal investigator, at a young age he learned he could see ghosts due to the death of his father which was thought to be him leaving his family. After that beej started to see ghosts anywhere they were and tried to tell people around town and attempt to help ghosts as much as he could. This sparked beej's interest in becoming a paranormal investigator and he attempted for years to tell people and town and get them to pay attention but he ended up gaining the reputation as being the "crazy wierd kid who thinks he can see ghosts". Over the years as beej started to humant and investigate the paranormal more and more in town with the rest if the gang the town started to resent him more and he was also seen a making their "curse" worse not to mention breaking into buildings and generally "causing trouble" around town to do his job. Juno, mother to beej and his twin brother Donny hated this and for years tried to shut down his belief in the paranormal and discourage him from hunting ghosts. The fact that beej insists that he says he kept seeing his father as a ghost around made it worse. Juno is a successful buisness woman in town obsessed with her image and status in town and often pits donny and bj against eachother and cares more about they make her look than her own children. She made it clear all bj's life he was a disappointment and always insulted and berated him but favored donny, she even attempted to have beej institutionalized because of his ability to see ghosts and also undiagnosed mental illness she never took seriously, but since beej was always deemed "mentally healthy" it was never sucessful but gave him a fear of being institutionalized and asylums. When beej turned 18 she kicked him out of the house and beetlejuice dropped out of highschool, after this beetlejuice officially started his parnormal investigation buisness out of his van traveling around town and even out of town or out of state at times. Juno still lets him and the rest of the gang in the house at times or atleast let them sleep in the van in their driveway because donny begs her. Beetlejuice often steals food and supplies from his mom's place but donny replaces it for him and attempts to help beej out financially but of course beej is too stubborn to take it. Barbara(21) lived on a farm her whole life with a deeply religious family and was homeschooled, she often went into town to read books at the library where she learned about witchcraft and immediately took a liking to it, secretly practicing at home. Her parents unfortunatly found out multiple times and each and everytime threw out or destroyed any altars, books, herbs, ect. She had anything she had to do with witchcraft. When she was 18 a monster/crpytid started hunting down and killing local farm animals. Baraba who is an animal lover and also a very young witch secised to try and bring the animals back but failed and while doing so was kicked out of their home, blamed for the murders of those farm animals even after she insisted and begged it wasnt hrler and that it was somwthing else out there but none of her family believes her instead she is called the devil and various other insults. After this she moves in with adam for the time being who's parents reluctantly take her in temporarily. Adam (21) used to go to school with beej and donny back in middle/high school. For a long time he kind of saw beej how everyone else saw beetlejuice, and thought he was a crazy trouble making wierdo not wanting anything to do with him until one day barbara brings beetlejuice around telling adam they should help him hunt the paranormal, withadam being the tech guy since his love for fixing and building things carries over into more modern tech in this au. Adam doesnt believe beej at first but on their first job that quickly changes and the 3 of them eventually become paranormal investigation team, barbara being their witch/mystic and adam ad their tech/research/ and camera guy. Adam's parents eventually kick adam and barbara out because they don't approve of Barbara's witchcraft but also that both of them are working with the "town menace" beetlejuice so after that they live with beej out of the van. Often struggling to turn a profit or make ends meet . all of them become infamous around town and ans are mostly hated especially since they're rivaling otho. Otho(early to mid 30's) is the town's medium,exorcist ,paranormal investigator and rival of our mystery gang. Most of the town looks up to him and he's seen as the savior of pleasant pines when he's actually a fraud. He rarely actually solves any actually problems or finds a cheap/half assed way of doing it while pretending to this all powerful mystic. He also tends to just straight up exorsize ghosts even low level ones that arent demons or poltergeists when beetle juice tries to help these spirits and they down need to be exorsized. Otho is assisted by vanessa (She is the magician's assistant from the film)(24/25) his loyal assistant who enjoys having power in town and living ontop working for otho uaually willing to do whatever he says to help them rise to power of course she is very independent and will speak her mind, still often doing what she wants. They both along with otho's other followers want the mystery gang gone. Delia (early to mis 30's) is one of the the many deticated followers to otho in town, being one of his closest friends and wants to help in anyway she can. Delia is also a witch or a witch in training under otho but very new to witchcraft and since she is taken under otho's wing she doesn't really know alot of proper witchcraft. Delia is more naive and thinks otho is actually helping, wanting to assist him and the town in anyway possible. Lydia (13), Charles' daughter and delia's stepdaughter is fascinated with the paranormal and runs a blog "pleasant pines paranormal" documenting all things weird in town. Lydia is also obsessed with the mystery gang and desperately wishes to join them despite being so young and a job like this will put her in alot of danger. She eventually convinces them to hire them because of her father's connections to certain buildings and lands around town since charles has a job in real estate and is pretty successful/well off giving them leads ahead of otho. With her step mother's close friendship with him this also gives them a chance to one up him. Lydia can see ghosts loke beej but keeps it mostly a secret to not be ostracized even more by the town like beej is, and eventually learns witcraft under barbara. Through out the story lydia is also trying to look for emily's ghost around town or find her in some kind of after life. Charles (late 30's) as mentioned works in real estate in town inadvertently helping the gang with leads and investigation. Charles is more neutral toward otho and the mystery gang, he doesnt really see otho as a great saviour of the town like everyone else but luts up with all the otho stuff because of delia. He also doesn't hate the mystery gang just see's them as a bunch of kids making money the same way otho is although he isnt thrilled his daughter is following them around. This is the main cast and story for now, there are more characters like: tina (miss argentina) (24) who is childhood friends with beej and donny she like charles is more neuteral toward bith parties although since she ia friends with beetle juice she is more on their side, often trying to help them with food, essentials, somwetimes lets them sleep in her apartment and use her shower. She unfortunatly doeant areally believe that beej can see ghosts like the town and thinks its "delusions" which puts a strain in their friendship especially since tina thinks they should find a real job, this isnt malicious she's just worried about her friends and hates seeing them struggle. Tina Secretary/assistant to juno in this au and the ex girlfriend to vanessa. Tina doesnt really like otho and broke up with vanessa after she became closer and more loyal to him. Claire (13) lydia's classmate (and crush) like in the cartoon bullies lydia for being "weird" and helping the mystery gang, claire's parents are rich followers of otho. Sometimes acts as a spy/informant for otho to prove her loyalty to him and her parents. I think this is all the basic info and main cast stuff for the au im probably missing some stuff tho. Theres also alot of things i have developed already and alot more world building i want to do so if y'all wanna hear more about this au hmu in asks, I'll probably even draw some stuff for this au.

The Big Five (Bran, Arya, Jon, Dany, Tyrion) who will survive is only something that George R. R. Martin wrote in a letter about the upcoming series in 199-fucking-3. It was supposed to be a trilogy. There was supposed to be a love triangle between Tyrion, Arya and Jon. Also dany wasn’t supposed to have dragons in that outline so STOP using the big 5 to justify that Sansa isn’t an important character! It’s getting old and transparent.

I’m cracking up. Have you people even READ the original outline? No? I highly suggest you check it out before sending me asks on it again. You can see the original photos and transcribed texts HERE.

But let’s go through it because it’s a glorious Friday afternoon and I feel like taking some people down a notch.

The things I seem most about GRRM’s original outline as reasons why it shouldn’t be taken seriously are: 1) it was supposed to be a trilogy and 2) there was supposed to be a love triangle between Jon, Arya, and Tyrion. I don’t know where you got the whole, “Dany wasn’t supposed to have dragons” thing anon because according to the outline, there be dragons:

But let’s take a look at the letter. George states, “There are three major conflicts set in motion in the chapters enclosed. These will form the major plot threads of the trilogy, intertwining each other in what should be a complex but exciting (I hope) narrative tapestry. Each of the conflicts presents a major threat to the peace of my imaginary realm, the Seven Kingdoms, and to the lives of my principal characters.”

The first threat, George says, is the Lannister/Stark conflict.

The second threat is the Dothraki invasion, led by Daenerys in what George thought would be his second novel - A Dance With Dragons.

And the Third and final threat to Westeros would be the Others in his presumed last novel - The Winds of Winter.

Now, right off the bat, George has already used all the book titles, with TWOW in progress. On the show, we’ve already seen the play out and conclusion of the Lannister/Stark war. Daenerys/Dothraki invasion of Westeros has happened in the show. And the Others had begun invading the Seven Kingdoms at the end of Season 7.

So all of what George first said has come to pass, just eight seasons and seven books, not a trilogy.

In AGOT, things George said would happen was that Ned and Cat were doomed (✓), things for the Starks would get worse before they got better (✓), Ned would find out what happened to Jon Arryn (✓), Robert would have an accident and the throne would pass to Joffrey (✓), Ned would be accused of treason (✓), and Ned would help Arya and Catelyn escape to Winterfell (did not happen). HOWEVER - Cat never needed escaping from King’s Landing AND Arya did escape King’s Landing after Ned’s beheading - she just didn’t receive help from him.

George says of Sansa: she will wed Joffrey (no) and bear him a son (no), “and when the crunch comes she will choose her husband and child over her parents and siblings, a choice she will later bitterly rue” (✓ - Sansa DOES choose Joffrey over her family in the Riverlands and then again in King’s Landing by going behind Ned’s back to tell Cersei of his plan to send them back to Winterfell and willingly volunteers to write the letter to Robb so that she can still marry Joffrey (not because Cersei made her write it, she did it for Joffrey). Tyrion befriends Sansa (✓) and Arya (no) and becomes disillusioned with his own family (✓).

I’m just going to quote the whole letter from now on because I’m too lazy to type…

“Young Bran will come out of his coma (✓), after a strange prophetic dream (✓), only to discover that he will never walk again (✓). He will turn to magic, at first in the hope of restoring his legs, but later for its own sake (✓). When his father Eddard Stark is executed, Bran will see the shape of doom descending on all of them, but nothing he can say will stop his brother Robb from calling the banners in rebellion (✓) . All the north will be inflamed by war (✓). Robb will win several splendid victories (✓), and maim Joffrey Baratheon on the battlefield (no), but in the end he will not be able to stand against Jaime and Tyrion Lannister and their allies. Robb Stark will die in battle (no), and Tyrion Lannister will besiege and burn Winterfell (no - kinda).” - Winterfell does get besieged and burned, only not by Tyrion, by Theon and Ramsay. And of course, Robb will die during his war against the Lannisters, just not in battle.

“Jon Snow, the bastard, will remain in the far north (✓). He will mature into a ranger of great daring (✓ - kinda), and ultimately will succeed his uncle as the commander of the Night’s Watch(✓ - kinda). When Winterfell burns, Catelyn Stark will be forced to flee north with her son Bran and her daughter Arya (no - kinda). Wounded by Lannister riders, they will seek refuge at the Wall, but the men of the Night’s Watch give up their families when they take the black, and Jon and Benjen will not be able to help, to Jon’s anguish (no). It will lead to a bitter estrangement between Jon and Bran (no). Arya will be more forgiving … until she realizes, with terror, that she has fallen in love with Jon, who is not only her half-brother but a man of the Night’s Watch, sworn to celibacy (no - kinda). Their passion will continue to torment Jon and Arya throughout the trilogy, until the secret of Jon’s true parentage is finally revealed in the last book (no - kinda).” - though Jon isn’t a ranger, he goes on a ranging and is pretty daring. He does become LC but not succeeding Benjen, succeeding Mormont. Bran does flee to the Wall, but to go beyond it. Arya tries to flee North/to the Wall but doesn’t make it. Jon is tormented by a love because of his NW vows of celibacy - Ygritte - and does develop feelings for his kin - Daenerys.

“Abandoned by the Night’s Watch, Catelyn and her children will find their only hope of safety lies even further north, beyond the Wall (no - kinda), where they fall into the hands of Mance Rayder, the King-beyond-the-Wall, and get a dreadful glimpse of the inhuman others as they attack the wildling encampment (no - kinda). Bran’s magic, Arya’s sword Needle, and the savagery of their direwolves will help them survive, but their mother Catelyn will die at the hands of the others (no - kinda).” - as stated, Bran does go beyond the Wall, Jon is the one who falls into the hands of Mance Rayder, Jon does get a glimpse of an Other attack on a wildling encampment (Hardhome), and Bran’s magic and direwolf do save him from the Others (The Door - Hodor).

“Over across the narrow sea, Daenerys Targaryen will discover that her new husband, the Dothraki Khal Drogo, has little interest in invading the Seven Kingdoms, much to her brother’s frustration(✓). When Viserys presses his claims past the point of tact or wisdom, Khal Drogo will finally grow annoyed and kill him out of hand, eliminating the Targaryen pretender and leaving Daenerys as the last of her line (✓). Danerys [sic] will bide her time, but she will not forget (✓). When the moment is right, she will kill her husband (✓) to avenge her brother (no), and then flee with a trusted friend into the wilderness beyond Vaes Dothrak (✓ - kinda). There, hunted by Dothraki bloodriders (✓) [unclear]  of her life, she stumbles on a cach***e of dragon’***s eggs (✓ - kinda) [unclear] of a young dragon will give Daenerys the power to bend the Dothraki to her will (✓). Then she begins to plan for her invasion of the Seven Kingdoms (✓). - Daenerys does wander the wilderness beyond Vaes Dothrak (after she hatches her dragons) with her Khalasar in the Red Waste. She does get dragons eggs, just given to her at her wedding instead of stumbling upon them (really, that’s just better storytelling on George’s part. If she had just randomly found them, it would feel too coincidental). Dany did kill Drogo but not to avenge Viserys; it was to put him out of his misery. Dany does use her powers to bend the Dothraki to her will (burning the Khals to become TSWMTW).

“Tyrion Lannister will continue to travel, to plot, and to play the game of thrones (✓), finally removing his nephew Joffrey in disgust at the boy king’s brutality (no - kinda). Jaime Lannister will follow Joffrey on the throne of the Seven Kingdoms (no - kinda), by the simple expedient of killing everyone ahead of him in the line of succession and blaming his brother Tyrion for the murders (no - kinda). Exiled (✓), Tyrion will change sides (✓), making common cause with the surviving Starks to bring his brother down (✓ - kinda), and falling helplessly in love with Arya Stark (✓ - kinda) while he’s at it. His passion is, alas, unreciprocated (✓ - kinda), but no less intense for that, and it will lead to a deadly rivalry between Tyrion and Jon Snow (yet to be seen).” - Joffrey is killed and Tyrion is accused though he wasn’t guilty. Cersei follows her son to the throne after Tommen’s death (which was her fault so she essentially killed him), Tyrion joins Daenerys to bring down Cersei, he falls in love with Dany (according to all of Peter’s interviews about his feelings for Daenerys), as Dany is in love with Jon, it seems Tyrion’s affections are reciprocated, and we don’t yet know if Tyrion and Jon will fight to the death. It’s possible.

So anon, I’d say so far as George’s predictions go for the entire series, he’s gotten it closer to his original outline than not. So please, for the last goddamn time, leave me alone with this bullshit that the Original outline doesn’t mean anything so far as Sansa’s character and I should stop referring to it. Almost everything George predicted he’d write, has come to pass. Perhaps not how he originally thought…but largely, it’s all happened. 

Wanna know why Sansa’s a “major character” in the show? Look:

And it’s because of Turner’s strength, Benioff continued, that it made sense to give Sansa a dramatic storyline this season and to use Ramsay’s engagement for that very purpose. In fact, the showrunners first thought about putting Sansa and Ramsay together back when they were writing season 2. “We really wanted Sansa to play a major part this season,” Benioff said. “If we were going to stay absolutely faithful to the book, it was going to be very hard to do that.

D&D wanted it. It’s not George’s story or George’s plan. Dan and Dave like Sophie’s acting and wanted her to play a more major role. So they gave her that. It has absolutely nothing to do with the series as a whole or the endgame. Sansa is not a main character and she will matter very little to the endgame.

sorry i think ive been more prone to anger than sincerity throughout this and thats not my best look.

abuse is a horrible, horrible thing. emotional, physical, sexual, etc. its devastating and a heavy criticism to make of someone. in real life i think it is always important to take these accusations very seriously. this may not mean always believing them without doubt - accusing of abuse can even be an abuse tactic in itself to deflect blame - but that it should be taken seriously and with the benefit of the doubt more often than not.

in fictional scenarios it gets a little different, because these characters arent real people, the fans are. and from my perspective, i think to list characters who dont meet the criteria as an Abuser as abusive to be trivializing and harmful. it feels hurtful to me.

but also, it comes back to the issue of - you never wanna tell someone their trauma wasnt traumatic. thats cruel and is often wrong. and so even with this i worry that im encouraging victims to minimize their own abuse to themselves. which isnt my intention.

but there... has to be a line? on what we do and dont qualify as abuse? and so i get very frustrated. emotional abuse is a very specific phenomenon that needs to have its meaning be somewhat specific ij order to prove useful at all. and. hm. im not sure where to go with this now. anyways its naruto sorry yall

The WWE Superstar Shake-Up Review - Smackdown Live

After a quick break I present to you the write up of the SD Live side of the superstar shake-up, the slight wait for this brands review has been welcome as things have greatly changed on SD in terms of were people have been slotted and the new feuds that have developed. So with any further wait, wagons roll....

Kevin Owens

The former Universal Champion and current US Champion makes his way to the blue brand, my first thought was that this would be a great move for Kevin in being able to get straight back to the top of the card on SD Live like he was as Universal Champ on Raw but that sadly hasn't developed so far. 

He had the US Title, dropped it to Chris Jericho solely so that Jericho could also move brands, then won it back from him the same week solely so that Jericho could leave to do some touring with Fozzy over the summer. Thankfully he is now in a feud with one of the best guys in the company in AJ Styles and involved in the MITB match, if he wins the briefcase then everything will be roses for him otherwise he faces a longer stay as the secondary title holder which is a waste.

In terms of future feuds for Owens more of Styles is a given, then id love to see feuds with Shinsuke Nakamura, Randy Orton and Luke Harper, the later of which would be much welcome for Harper as it would bring him along alot in development as well as providing fresh matches for Owens.

Charlotte

‘The Queen’ moves over in a swap with Alexa Bliss, she really is the main focus of the company when it comes to the Women’s Division so was a little surprise that they went along with moving her to SD Live. 

The first thing ill say about her move is that I predict alot of turns from her, due to the lack of good opponents and lack of faces. She came in a heel and is now a kind of face working with Naomi and Becky until she gets a title match where she’ll be back a definite heel. Depth is sooo going to be a killer for most of the good women wrestlers, as there is none, so they’ll be stuck feuding with the same people for too long or will get stuck in mini feuds with women who cant lace their boots.

The New Day

Anything new for this group was more than welcomed, after holding the belts for the longest reign in the company to only hosting Wrestlemania and not even being able to get a match there these guys needed something fresh, they needed SD Live.

Sadly for this review there’s nothing to actually....review, as Kofi needed surgery and had to have time off, Woods and his partner welcomed a new addition to their family and Big E, well Big E married a couple, legit.

But now they are back with this week seeing their debut for SD Live, kinda, by appearing Talking Smack with the beautiful Renee Young and Shane McMahon, something ive wanted since they announced the move/ trade as Big E/ Big Wool live with Renee is always great.

Now they are back we sadly cant look forward to the group gaining revenge on The Revival, who in storyline injured Kofi, as they their-selves are also facing time on the sidelines with injury. When it comes to the blue brand we can look forward to them getting ring time and feuds with The Uso’s, American Alpha, The Fashion Police, hell maybe even the Colon’s if the company decide to build them more first with wins and actual character development.

One of the other things I want with this team after the shake-up is to have one of Kofi or Big E to go more into the singles ranks, with the depth issue after the brand split it could be very vital elsewhere outside of the tag division. Let Big E be the one to do so, while still keeping the group together, and have him be a strong beast around the US Title and if things go well give him a chance higher up around the World Title.

Sami Zayn

The man that before the shake-up was the one everyone was saying needed the move the most, lost and under-valued on Raw this would provide a great re-start for him and allow him to show his skills more and move up the card with great crowd reactions. Geez how wrong were fans to get their hopes up for that, just before the move Sami somehow annoyed someone important backstage and was known for being someone who kept yapping on and talking rubbish backstage which quickly became something he had to do on tv, some kind of punishment if you will for something he did no wrong in. 

He’s now seen as someone on this show the same as Raw where whenever he loses he still stays over exactly the same with the fans, so why not have him lose more and put over newer talent. Hence the feud with Boring Baron Corbin and loses to others who needed the odd win, in truth its going to take something big for management to decide to use him in something more worthwhile in making an impact for SD Live and the company overall. I see that being a injury bug affecting 2 or 3 top names possibly and that being the opening he would need for them to strap the rocket to him.

Rusev + Lana

One of my favourite superstars in the company had kind of reached his peak with people on Raw and was stuck losing to Roman Reigns and feuds with Enzo and Cass so again a much needed move, but again he was injured so we dont really have much to go on.

But, saying that we can still asses their plans and lack of follow up on them. Afew weeks back he appeared in a pre tape interview somewhere talking about he deserves a title shot at MITB and would turn up the following week on SD Live to demand it from Shane McMahon. So the new week came and no Rusev, and sign of him since sadly.

My hope is that he returns and gets added to the MITB match and wins the briefcase, then have him destroy Jinder Mahal for the World Title for a huge pop and face turn which would be so fresh and the fans are dying to cheer for him. Have him become an American Patriot after the turn and title win, which will then lead to an awesome feud with Kevin Owens to take back the US Title from the Canadian for Rusev’s adopted America.

The thing I dont get though is the seeming split of Rusev and Lana, she’s been having video packages of her wearing different dresses every week whilst making love to a chair, if they plan on making her a wrestler good luck, otherwise why even bother splitting the pair, its never worked before as they work so well together.

Sin Cara

Seriously.

They realised that Kalisto needed to be on Raw so that he could be included in 205 Live (he still isnt) and to do so they had to come up with someone to bring the other way, and chose Sin Cara, that’s it, no future plans/ideas for the guy, enjoy the few tv appearances you get and jobs you have to do fella.

The Shining Stars

Straight away lets make it clear that they dropped the Shining Stars name and have gone back to just calling them The Colon’s, good move, dropped the time share gimmick, good move, had them debut and attack American Alpha, good move.......Just nothing more since then?

Don’t get me wrong I dont expect them to be the champions instantly as they need ALOT of work to reinvigorate them and make them a solid and believable threat for the fans. Its just that after a solid start to do so they have done near enough nothing with them which is really disappointing as both are very solid wrestlers and can be very useful. I guess the spot of developing a team into a bigger threat has gone to Breezango at the moment, so imagine they will be re-focused on in a month or two’s time possibly?

Jinder Mahal

Now this, this is the reason ive delayed this piece, imagine how stupid I would have looked reviewing his trade straight after the shake-up as a jobber moved over to take loses and that’s it...............and he is now World Champion, yeah that’s right.

The real story at hand here is that the company are moving into the Indian market more this year, with a tour in the last quarter of the year and needed to focus on an Indian talent to help them move into the market easier. They dont have much in the way of options when it came to that requirement so Mr Mahal was, well, ‘it’. A quick unwarranted push as well as a quick title win with his new cronies the Singh Brothers, as well as the rumour that he will be inline for a long title run. 

This really brings Smackdown down in being taken seriously, but at the same time we all want new people focused on and given the big opportunity or rocket, its just that this wasn't the guy we wanted was it, but still we should give him the time to see if he improves and runs with the ball. Then, I dont mind shitting on his run after a month or two if its just boring promo’s and poor matches/ feuds.

Good luck to the guy’s that have to work with him and try to carry him to something good, as long as he fails epic-ally he will shoulder the blame for it.

Tamina

Really not sure how she has survived in the company for so long, even with her father being Jimmy Snuka she has in no way warranted keeping her job for so long. She debuted in 2010, yeah that’s right, now how many great matches or great feuds can you name her being in???????

Poor wrestler, has been inured a fair few times, cant talk on the mic, was kept off of tv for a long time while her father was taken court then passed away, now she has been brought back as part of the Welcoming Committee (poor poor name) and you’ll soon notice who gets to stand at ringside most weeks without wrestling again, yeah stealing a living, Tamina

Byron Saxton

Near enough the same as David Otunga, employed in this position because of his skin colour, extreme lack of talent for the announcing position, he fulfills other roles in the company and should be doing those off camera and not wasting a seat at the announce booth. In a company that employs Nigel Guinness and Steve Corino there should be zero space for Saxton/Otunga/Booker/Percy Watson.

Overall SD Live won the shake-up in comparison with Raw by a mile, its just that they have handled alot of the picks badly, in trying to reshuffle their brand after losing names they seem to have slotted people completely wrong. As ive mentioned before I like seeing them giving opportunities to fresh wrestlers to see what they can do and of they can make a big impression over some of the long standing main eventer’s, but we shouldn't just be forcing those new talents who are’nt ready into those positions.

Nakamura being called up as well is a HUGE move for the brand, as well as potentially picking up another 2 or 3 of the top talents there in NXT would help do wonders for them, as long as they get used correctly that is, which sadly is now a big factor.

In talking about NXT and their top prospects I think that’s the next article ill be approaching and looking at the top 5 that should be getting the call up next.

SCRAPPED BEGINNING, FIRST PLOT STRUCTURE

-bellow includes the first structure plan of the game and first rendition of the beginning of the game, planned and written but eventually rewritten. The structure was also changed as the game proved to be much longer and aiming to complete it all in the time set was impractical.-

- the reason it was rewritten was the beginning felt too slow, so it was cut and redone to be more interesting and mysterious.- It was actually produced in the game engine also before it was scrapped-

- there is also a scene attempting to improve on the previous idea, trying to highlight a characters gender identity and including some issues they have to overcome. this was also scrapped as it still felt unnatural and advantageous. in the final script a simple mention is all that is included so far in the final game. The reason why was to make it more ‘normal’, to make sure his identity is mentioned but not taken advantage of or introduced with an uncomfortable situation/traumatic situation.”

I'm now aiming to complete one act of the game by the due date set by the class, bellow is a break-down of act 1 split into the major scenarios and decisions/consequences of each scene

I've also managed to get through a lot of the artwork, I'm trying to have an array of sprites with different facial expressions for different emotions to work with each scene. Lastly I have coded part of the first scene and put it together in the game engine in order to make sure it works properly with what I had planned- I learned that due to some coding barriers I had to rework how the scene worked, and this has helped me realise what borders I need to work under.

  There's a silence that passes over the car, not uncomfortable, mostly uncertain. You indicate left and line the car up with the sidewalk and turn the key to silence the engine.

[prue]: the car? I don’t know. Maybe. There's a chance he didn’t even notice yet.

[jones]: would he call it in on you?

[prue]: he's done it before, this isnt the first time I've taken his car out1

[prue]: what about your mum?2

[jones]: how far did you get

[prue]: like 30km out of town, I was about 16 though, maybe he thought if he didn't he'd get in trouble

[jones]: what do you mean?

[prue]: 16 year old driving off, that’s two illegal things. All I'm doing now is stealing, can't get in trouble for letting an adult run away.

Jones response is measured silence, and looking at him you can tell he's still guessing himself.

[jones]: not the stealing, but she might call you in

[prue]: for the car or kidnapping her innocent son

[jones]: maybe both, she'd probably blame sil for everything though.

[prue]: heh, all she did was enable me, shes as guilty as you

 Your eyes sting, with even the faint reflections of the street lamp making them burn. Your body is begging for sleep, and there's no way to fight it off. Jones was right, another 10 minutes and you'd be sleeping in a ditch after being jettisoned through the windscreen.

[jones]: night prue, we'll figure it out in the morning

[prue]: figure what out?

[jones]: every fuck up from today

[prue]: that’s a loooot to deal with

[prue]: night

 Your eyelids are shut for the last few exchanges, and you fall into sleep in a matter of moments.

You see no faces and hear only the distant sound of a motor, with pricks of rain hitting your feet. A hand takes yours in the most gentle hold you've ever felt, with soft skin smooth against yours. Her hand is a contrast to yours, soft white and with maintained oval nails too short to hurt as she grips tighter. The motor sound gets louder, and her grip gets tighter. The pricks of rain start to hit your head and the feel like nails that drill into your head with the noise of the engine now blaring in your ears. She lets go and you look up to see a mound of flesh, with lumps and bumps and holes that could only be formed from extreme weather. As you take in the details you can make out a nose, cheekbones, and other facial features. As you make the connection the eyes burst open and stare into you, a person living with a rotting face. They howl and scream and you see rotting teeth that are bared and lunge at your face.

The glass stops them from reaching you.

[sybil]: PRUE!]

You blink again and the face is still screaming and starting to leave marks on your window, a hand grips your right shoulder

[sybil]: PRUE DRIVE!

You reach down without taking your eyes off him, fumbling until you find the key. The engine comes alive with a roar and you slam your foot on the accelerator. You screech down the street and stare straight ahead as you fell Sybil clamber into the back see to watch him from the back window.

 [sybil]: He fell! Oh shit he isn't getting up. Who the hell was that creep?

[Jones]: I don't know but he must have been drunk, maybe he was a homeless guy with like?

[jones]: a skin disease?

[Prue]: god I think I'm going to be sick

Your body is frozen, you can't move as he keeps clawing at the window and starts to slobber as he yells. Instead of words all you can manage is a weak scream, you've never experienced a genuine scream of terror before.

 [sybil]: GOD. MOVE!

Sybil shoves you even closer to the window as she forces herself beside you, turning the key and slamming her foot on the accelorator. You burst forward and you see the mans face skid against the glass with torturous detail, leaving snot, spit and blood along the side of the car

When your fist hits the glass he flinches and staggers back holding his nose, but as he looks up you see he is unharmed. There's a tiny crack visible in the fog on the glass, and your hand feels like someone tried to crack your knuckles until they heard the bones break.

    VISIONS

THE SAME PARTY- things go badly for everyone involved, who you pick decides whose point of view scene you see. All end with prues sister and then kit brings them back

 Sybil and jones- childhood friends, seperated when jones was homeschooled and because his mum hates sybil

They reconnected online and sybil found out where he'd moved and turned up at the house one day, climbing into the window and dragging him outside to hang out with her

Vision of the party, his first actual party with sybil, he gets disoriented and freaks out

 Jones: you told her?

s: told her what?

J that I'm

J I don’t know

im very conflicted about that video going around of markiplier talking about the people who react negatively or ‘faux’ negatively to all the ego stuff because

straight off the bat he’s completely valid in feeling the way that he does about it, im the last person who’s going to invalidate someones feelings on that. its an audience reaction to his content that weighs on his mind and if anything, i have massive respect for him to acknowledge that and say that it wont actually effect his content in any way. its difficult to be honest about how you’re feeling creatively, and very brave to be able to compartmentalise and still go ahead with what you’re making because you believe in it. 

however, theres some context missing here. because mark has said before that he doesnt mind the whole ‘fishfuck’ names and the like, i remember a post he put on tumblr saying that he didnt care. which may be irrelevant in fairness because maybe its actually starting to grate on him now which is more than understandable. people change, words over time can wear you down.

but im also curious to know what content hes referring to that is causing this reaction thats obviously getting him down. it cant be wkm, there was an outpouring of love for that. so i can only think that its everything in between then and now, all the suspeeshy stuff he’s been doing and the van videos and honestly, mark? i think you may have to take on a bit of responsibility here.

you did spooky livestreams during tour and then the whole mask thing happened, you never addressed how out of hand it got (or at least ive never seen it addressed) and then admitted that it was all bullshit that wasnt going anywhere. you’ve poked fun at theorists in ways that toe the line of just joking, to the point where several theorists made open comments about it and had to encourage other people to not let it dishearten them.  

when you have ego content, when you tease things in a build up, if you do it again people are obviously going to be let down when it turns out that actually this time it was nothing. so its not that they dont trust you, its that they dont believe you and they’re more likely to be cynical about any potentially ego related content.

the bottom line is, how are your fans, your most passionate and engaged fans who are theorists, supposed to take your ego content seriously when they feel as though you dont take them seriously?

its a two way street, and when you act suspicious and then give no payoff, whilst also saying that you have thick skin and that being called names doesnt bother you, what are people supposed to think?

(and i want to repeat because that last bolded paragraph makes me sound like im ‘victim blaming’:  people change, words over time can wear you down. if these kinds of comments are getting mark down, thats completely valid. i just want him to think about the things he says. he’s reblogged art with not flattering captions at the bottom. if he’s thick skinned then fine, but be honest with us, goddamit. we love you and we want to take your content seriously. thats the most frustrating part of this whole situation for me, we do! or at least, from what i see we do. but that could just be one perspective, which i can appreciate.)

now. this is NOT an excuse for anyone in the fandom who’s taken it too far. but thats an extreme that mark himself didnt touch upon so i dont want to get into it. just know that you cant use this post to justify being an outright dick to mark, he’s still a human being at the end of the day, and im not making this to call him out. i dont even think him or anyone of note will see it.

im making this to shed some light on the other side of the fence, and to get my thoughts out there because all this miscommunication can get upsetting. especially as someone who loves marks content and the egos and is really inspired by marks work ethic. 

ego content, the idea of characters on youtube channels isnt a new concept, but the way that mark has implemented it is something wholly new that i dont think he’s quite mastered yet. gone are the days, unfortunately, where he can do scary shit for the hell of it. because unless he says so (which would be fine! i dont think anyone would mind him saying ‘hey this has nothing to do with any ego’ if he wanted to do something spooky, we could and can appreciate it for what it is) the immediate suspicion is going to be that its ego content. that communication is all we need. 

anyway. ive come from fandoms where creators seemed to just not care about their fans unless they were blindly following their work, which is NOT whats happening with mark let me make that ABUNDANTLY CLEAR. so i just wanted to hammer home the point that communication with your audience is so, so important. and it doesnt need to be a big thing! it can be a small comment, doesnt need to be a 10 minute video or a wall of text on tumblr. let the respectful ones of us spread the word and go back to working as hard as you do. trust us so we can trust you.
