Sleep Awake is my only partially posted wip, but I have many unposted wip documents that I intend to post next year (or whenever I finish them)! These include wips with document titles such as: siskarak strip poker, Sub Rosa sloanshir, soulmate sloanshir, aphrodisiac sloanshir, Inquisition in the Abscess 'verse, julian jealous of imagined siskarak, and garak jealous of imagined sloanshir. :) (P.S. - Anyone can always feel free to ask me about any of those and I will immediately go write/edit at least a sentence on it. Trick me into making incremental progress on my shit, please!)

Populations of the 7 nations + Khaenri'ah

I love giving things numbers so I wanted to do that with the nations. My reasoning are based in the real-life nations and in game lore. Rough estimations

Liyue: 350 M, by far the most populated nation in Teyvat. As one of the safest nations (under the watch of the Millelith, the adepti, and Zhongli until recently) they tend to die less often. That and they are one of the more prosperous nation and have around for a long time under a singular rule. And 500 years ago while they lost a lot of their soldiers the civilian areas were protected, so their population wasn't hit as hard. This makes their population numbers relatively stable with low births, but low deaths as well.

Fontaine: 300 M, a big drop in pop. compared to Liyue but still the second largest in terms of pop. in Teyvat. This is due to similar reasoning, they are a generally safe nation. While there is large wealth inequality this wouldn't really harm the pop. much. With poorer families tending to have more kids while those living in the court tend to have only 1 or 2 kids. Fontaine was also kept relatively safe from the fallout of 500 years ago making the population not take a significant hit.

Snezhnaya: 250 M, the 3rd largest, but this is mainly due to their military culture. As in this nation, they have high birthrates (see Childe having a large family) but also to have a bit of a higher death rate as casualties for being a fatui member. But regardless, the numbers a militarized nation would need to make all these fatui members would be high, even if those fatui also come from other nations.

Inazuma: 20 M, this is where the drop in pop. numbers gets a bit high, but much in real life there are nations that billions and nations that don't. Inazuma has a stable pop. rate with low births and low deaths until recently and 500 years ago. Knowing that civilian centers were targeted and harmed 500 years ago, the populations would have but badly lowered which would take a while to recover. But the other thing making the nation have a lower pop. is the civil war and isolation they have from other countries.

Mondstadt: 13 M, a small nation with not much outside reach would have a bit of a lower pop. with a culture of having 1-2 kids and the nations size Mondstadt use to be the nation with the lowest population in all of Teyvat. Their pop. rate is stable with the birth rate and death rate being roughly equal to each other showing that not much is expected to change in pop. numbers. 500 years ago their was the fight where a lot of soldiers die, but it seemed civilians were manly protected.

Sumeru: 10 M sharing this spot with Natlan, Sumeru has the problem of having high death rates and low birthrates. Due to being effected 500 years ago with a bad case of Eleazar and withering and unfornulautly being above Khaenri'ah the pop. suffered heavily from the events of 500 years ago, with a good chunk of population dying from it. Afterward, diseases and the withering would cause high infant mortality and a high general death rate. This pop. count also includes the desert, which has equally similar problems. But as of recent these issues have gone away meaning Sumeru population is likely to skyrocket in the next few generations.

Natlan: 10 M same thing with sumeru, just replace it with the abyss. Even with the ode to resuressuction many die in abyss attacks or from the corrosive effects of the abyss. And just like Sumeru the nation loss a huge amount of their people 500 years ago and have yet to come back to their original pop. size. sadly the last great war with the abyss means that they lost a lot of people as well (although not as bad as 500 years ago) but now with the abyss unable to attack anymore they're pop. should also start to increase in the fallowing generations.

Khaenri'ah: 1 B, once the nation boasted about having more people than all the surface of teyvat. Which they did. But then the nation was destroyed. And only a hand full remain. The chances of the nations pop. returning to what it once was are less than 1%

Mini rant because someone asked me to elaborate on my disliking for the twst reward system.

I probably sound stupid but this is what I can think of off the top of my head.

I know of course if Twisted Wonderland handed out tons and tons of gems or keys then EVERYONE would have an ssr from an event and it wouldn't be fun to play for them, but oh. My. God. The grinding system is hardly even worth it because most rewards just result in 5 or 10 gems. This hardly causes a dent in getting 300 gems. While yes, there's weekly missions and the shop boxes, there's still problems. The weekly missions are helpful and easy, in fact I get through them in one day most of the time (Twst is on my tablet instead of phone so it's easier to play whenever) and getting 80 gems is great. But it's still hardly ever helps me when I need to get 300 gems. And the chests aren't that helpful. There's hardly a chance of getting a key from them even if you cash in all your supplies. Not really a reward system complaint but I don't like that if we have ten single keys we can't make them a ten pull but I understand why this might be avoided. Another feature is story/events. Upon completing certain events or parts to a story you're rewarded with 10 gems and around 1000 thaumarks (I think) but here's the thing. You can complete a part of the story and get this reward and also complete the whole BOOK and still get this. I'm not saying to get a thousand gems from one book, but I think it should be something like 50. Most of the time I barely scrape by with 300 gems and I have to make decisions if I really wanna try and get an SSR this event and have a large possibility of not getting one the next because events usually just last a week or two. Most of my saving grace is the 250 gem deal in the SHOP. There's also bingo cards but they don't do much. If I'm missing something I want someone a point it out to me. I'm not an expert on game design at all and I won't dictate how the devs make the game or how you feel.

I went to the lake to see the eclipse at the museum where I've been volunteering for my entire adult life (the big white house in the lower right). The weather was mostly clear and relatively mild. It was a ticketed event so there were probably 250-300 people there (this helps protect the site, which is also a conservation area). This place is special to me. You look through the glasses for two hours watching the moon eat away bigger and bigger chunks of the sun with almost no perceptible change in the light or air around you. One of the first things I noticed when not looking through my glasses was the strange shadows of the islands out in Lake Erie. I have looked at these islands a lot in my life and I can usually pick them all out, but the creeping strangeness expressed itself by taking the islands and making a reflection that stretched out and merged until they looked like one big mass, as if I was seeing a contiguous opposite shoreline.

Once it hits a certain point, everything happens very fast. A rainbow appears around the sun, and any jet trails crossing the sky get their own drop shadow. Clouds move in as the temperature drops, it gets dark rapidly, the shorebirds start to go still. It becomes very damp, to the point that my hair frizzed out intensely. The light drops right off and you can't see a thing through the specs anymore.

When you look at the totality, it's not black like the pictures show. It's silver. There is this moment, when the totality has just slid into place and you see the moon in a really big way. Like, its the Moon. I was not prepare for how Moon it would be. Stars come out. People around you go bananas and all you can think is oh shit oh fuck look at that. A firework goes off in the distance. There's a sort of reflection of the corona offset, like a lens flare, that I can't find the name for but for a moment it seems to double the totality. It lasts for the most intense 90 seconds imaginable before the diamond appears and you rush to put your glasses back on. People are crying. You understand for a moment the unadulterated terror that people must have felt when they couldn't understand what was happening. You understand why someone who could predict an eclipse would seem like a goddamn wizard.

I'm trying really hard not to look at too many pictures for fear they will override my memory of what it looked and felt like to be there in one of my favourite places next to my favourite person and experience this thing that for a moment abstracts your sense of all proportion and place. You are outside of normal for those brief seconds. I'm still not sure how to really express the feeling. Anyway see an eclipse if you can, I guess.

The question wasn't out of the blue, especially from Bedo, but the time was a bit off. You both were supposed to be on a trip just to hang out. I guess this is what bedo views as hanging out.

Albedo's words were cut off by the feeling of your lips lingering on his, he was hoping for a good outcome but this is much better than anything he could have imagined.

▸🧼 This man has tried to sneak up on you many times and failed, failed so hard. He could be in a whole different room and you'd still be able to sense his presences.

▸🧼 Brags about your skills to the other harbingers all the time, They probably have your name memorized by this point. They value your skills to be honest, they even tried to get you to join the harbingers at one point. Childe was so against the whole idea, talked you out of it even though you weren't going to take the position anyway.

It's been awhile, childe said he was going to be here soon and know you're sitting at the harbingers base with a mad man who experiments on kids, a sad widow who hates everything and a whiney purple haired brat.

Ugh now the purple one is speaking could childe please hurry up with his mission. But I mean the man is waiting for a response, maybe he'll shut up if you give him one.

"Yes childe is my husband, and he's not as intolerable as you make him seem."

"Blinded by your so-called love I see? And here I thought you were a better one."

Better one? Thankfully you could sense childe was in the building, although it felt like something was off with his movements you ignored it.

Strangely enough all the harbingers started starting at you, is there something wrong? I mean yeah childe's standing behind you trying and emphasis on trying to scare you but this wasn't irregular behavior for him at all he tried to sneak up on you at least once a week, his efforts always went to waste though.

"Boo!"

Childe came from behind you now standing in front of you staring at him with a blank expression on your face and a rather disappointed look on his, his attempts to scare you were futile again I see.

"Aww why aren't you scared?"

"Childe I knew you were here since you stepped in the building."

"Did you all hear that? Isn't my lover so impressive!"

They all looked at you with a 'it's the third time this week, we get it your in love' type of look, but there was the purple one who looked as if he had something else to say.

"No no no! They are not joining I prohibit it, never ever will that happen!"

I promise I'm not trying to be annoying about this /g, but I'm wondering if an allowance/new category can be made for non-prose forms of writing. I'd really like to participate, and songwriting is my primary means of producing fan art (and I daresay that's what people would expect from me if I were to do this). But there's no way I could write a 3K word song. (Just as a point of reference, the 6-minute rap I did about the Inversion was 1073 words. The next longest one after that was about 450. It looks like my average word count for songs is around 250-300.) I would gladly meet a minimum word count + minimum song duration (minimum 3 minutes?) if that seems acceptable. Thank you for reaching out! Because your situation is quite unique, a new 'category' isn't much viable. But after some thought, this is the conclusion that was reached:

Using the text as counting for one part of the 'minimum', and the melody and recording for the other part, it is possible to say that you can participate in this manner!

However, we would have to communicate with your partner to see if they were willing to accept this form of gift, which would take away some of the surprise element, but would be necessary to ensure that they would be satisfied by the end result. As long as this was met, and as long as you were able to in some way fill the prompt you were given, there would be no problem with submitting a song as your entry.

As far as other non-prose forms of writing go, given enough individuals a new category could be made, but would once again require the approval of the person who would be receiving this content. This is not a problem that is insurmountable, thankfully, so it shouldn't be an issue if more people want to submit in that kind of category.

Other than this, there are events that are not dependent on wordcounts and such like the Winter Solstice Week that will provide less complicated chances to participate with non-prose and non-drawing forms of fanart! We aspire to let everyone participate in their own way.

When my Mom complains " you need to talk more/you never talk. " but with some spice.

-Also mom : abusive my whole life. -Everytime i expressed emotion or anything it would be shut down, shamed, or yelled at, and even beaten up or threatned with physical violence. -Everytime id share an event or experience id be received with judgment and order ( why did you dot this? /who told you , you could do that ?) -Gets used against me ( ex : me wanting to move out, at the time she didnt let me and threatned with me physical violence and verbal / me expressing wanting to go live somewhere and her replying being : i dont like that place, you will never have money for it - true, she was taking almost 500 of my paycheck every month,so now i have no life savings , me talking about wanting to fix my teeth when i get a stable job - her response being : well you cant) -Me talking - her telling me to shut up. -Me going to an event - her asking how much is it, then demanding more money at the end of the month for rent ( lets say rent was 250, shed found out about me going to the event, next month shed be charging me 300 ) -Me getting a tatoo - her response - its rlly ugly i wish you hadnt done that, looks rlly bad. Also her , 5 mins ago : Me applying for jobs, but my cellphone not working ( because im unemployed and dont have 20-40 euros to spend on phone bills ) so using the house phoen to get responses. So i end up carrying the phone everywhere when im at the house, to the bathroom to the kitchen etc. One afternoon i happend to not hear the phone when i went to the bathroom because i forgot, so i lost the call. But i called back and the lady said shed call me the next day. So my mom then treated me like shit because i shouldve gave her contact in my job application, also her : monitoring everything about my life and finances my whole life, and taking my whole paychecks, leaving me with less than 200 euros , me having ptsd because of that, the control she had and has over my money and life. Me wanting to keep some sense of control on my existence and life so i dont kill myself. Telling her that its her phone not mine, and that i should have the house phone because its the fucking house phone, and commenting that the job companies are rutheless and un-human, she immediatly says with a strong loud voice " No, it's your fault that they arent gonna call anymore ", me replying " no, its not, its because companies treat ppl like shit " , her replying again, the same shit " no , it's your fault !" Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia Shinryu Quests with Sephiroth Part 7

The Shinryu fights (level 300; currently the hardest kind of fight in the Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia (DFFOO) mobile game) in this post feature Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII as part of the team lineup.

My Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII (#ad) is Level 90 and Crystal Level 90. His 15cp, 35cp, Ex, LD, and BT are fully MLB. His Ex is at Ex+ 3/3 or Purple. His Burst weapon has been upgraded to BT+ 3/3 or Green.

Seph’s currently equipped with a Level 5/5 Greatsword Ultima Weapon (UT). His High Armor’s been upgraded to Blue. All of his Boards have been completed. He has his Bloom Stone.

He has 3 Attack 108 with Max Brave 330 Artifacts and 3 Attack 108 with One-Winged Angel Boost★★ (Raises INT BRV, MAX BRV, ATK, DEF by 5% if HP is MAX at start of last wave) Artifacts.

Sephiroth is equipped with the following A Spheres:

Edgar Roni Figaro’s (from Final Fantasy VI) Debuff Power

Increases BRV damage dealt by 10% while an enemy is debuffed

Cloud Strife’s (from Final Fantasy VII) Critical Power

Raises BRV damage dealt with critical hits by 10%

Vayne Carudas Solidor’s (from Final Fantasy XII) Broken Power

When attacking target afflicted with Break: • Increases BRV damage dealt by 10%

I talk more about this in other posts, but I’ve been using Sephiroth for Lufenia (level 200) and Lufenia+ (level 250) quests basically ever since I got his LD and BT even back when he wasn’t that good at all. I’d like to keep using him even for Shinryu quests.

Freya Crescent from Final Fantasy IX

My Freya Crescent from Final Fantasy IX is Level 90 and Crystal Level 90. Her 15cp, 35cp, Ex, and LD are fully MLB. Her Ex is at Ex+ 3/3 or Purple.

Freya’s High Armor has been upgraded to Blue. All of her Boards have been completed. She has her Bloom Stone. I’ve unlocked her Force Enhancements up to Level 10.

She has 3 ATK 108 with Dragon Knight of Burmecia Boost★★ (Raises party’s MAX BRV, ATK by 5% with active buff) Artifacts.

Freya is equipped with the following RF Spheres:

Yang Fang Leiden’s (from Final Fantasy IV) Critical Attack Boost Up Shorter RF A Sphere

When dealing critical hit: • Raises own MAX BRV and ATK by 4% for 3 turns *Does not stack with same sphere

Maria’s (from Final Fantasy II) HP Heal Base Attack All Shorter RF C Sphere

After recovering HP: • Raises party’s INT BRV, ATK by 2% for 3 turns

Hope Estheim’s (from Final Fantasy XIII) Buff Success Attack Boost All Shorter RF D Sphere

After granting buff: • Raises party’s MAX BRV, ATK by 2% for 3 turns *Does not stack with same sphere

Freya is a support and healer with pretty good buffs and auras. She can also deal pretty decent damage. Her LD allows her to leap or fly up into the air where she can evade basically anything.

Until her next turn, every time a char moves, she’ll automatically follow that up with an attack of her own. She’ll also battery and heal the party. On her next turn, she’ll do an attack before landing back on the ground.

Red Comet Shinryu Quest

Also known as Red Comet SHINRYU. This fight has 1 wave with 2 enemies, the Crystal Armors.

Red Comet is a global-original event. The Shinryu quest that came with it can be really difficult. For starters, it’s near impossible to use the current best Force weapon on this stage.

The Force weapon in question belongs to Kam’lanaut from Final Fantasy XI. With the proper setup, it’s possible to get a really high HP damage bonus when using his FR.

This requires an enemy to be launched while they are paralyzed. Your DPS should also be dealing ice damage and the rest of the party needs to participate in these launches.

You can’t do any of that on the Red Comet Shinryu quest though because the Crystal Armors are immune to launches and they have a 100% BRV damage resistance to all elements except for holy and non-elemental BRV damage.

They are immune to Freeze and other such debuffs that prevent action. They are also immune to turn deletes and delays, including via breaks.

As the force gauge of the enemies increases, the brave gain, turn rate, and max brave of your chars will decrease. This goes as high as -80% brv gain, -50% turn rate, and -300% max brave once the enemy’s force gauge reaches 80%.

Once the force gauge of the enemies reaches 100%, one of the Crystal Armors will warp their turn to the front and gain a total of 3 instant turns.

The enemies will then get 5 turns of force time with the following effects: they will retain 50% of their brave every time they use an HP attack, they will regen 50% of their max brave after their turn, and they’ll use an attack that lets them recover from break and deal single target HP damage unless their recast bar is fully charged in which case they’ll use their recast ability instead.

Once the enemies drop down to 49% HP, they will warp their turns to the front and get a total of 3 instant turns. This will not trigger during a char’s BT phase or inside a summon but it will happen immediately afterwards.

For this fight, my team was Freya, Sephiroth, and Gabranth (Noah fon Ronsenburg) from Final Fantasy XII with Odin as my summon. My Calls were Prishe’s from Final Fantasy XI, Raijin’s from Final Fantasy VIII, and Seymour Guado’s from Final Fantasy X.

Instead of the usual take x or less amount of HP damage mission, this one wants us to clear this fight using at least 1 Green Crystal char. Good thing both Gabranth and Sephiroth can fulfill this mission requirement.

Gabranth is also synergy for this fight. Have Gabranth’s 15cp, 35cp, Ex, FR, and LD fully maxed out. Missing his Burst weapon.

All of his Summon Boards have been completed. He has his Bloom Stone. Bought his High Armor and Realized it to 0/3. He also has triple perfect Artifacts and 1 RF Sphere.

Unlocked parts of his Character Enhancement Boards, particularly the tiles that would give me his LD Call and LD extension passive. Also unlocked his Force Enhancements up to Level 3.

Gabranth can debuff enemies and battery the party. He deals decent enough damage although he’s definitely more of a debuffer with a bit of support than a DPS.

Brought Gabranth because I need a Force weapon for this battle. Too bad neither Freya nor Sephiroth have one yet. At least Gabranth’s FR actually has pretty good synergy with Sephiroth.

Gabranth’s FR has the following force time effects:

HP damage bonus +30% when party member inflicts Break

HP damage bonus +15% when party member selects attack on debuffed enemy

Sephiroth inflicts a gold-framed debuff called Cellular Erosion whenever he uses his LD. Gold-framed debuffs can never be cleansed no matter what.

One of the effects of Seph’s BT+ is that it will set the brave of all enemies to 1 for 4 turns. As long as said enemy isn’t immune to delays via break, then it’s possible to just keep on breaking and pushing their turns back until Sephi’s BT+ effect ends.

I have a Level 5 of 5 Spear Ultima Weapon that’s currently equipped to Kain Highwind from Final Fantasy IV. Removed that Spear from Kain and gave it to Freya for this quest to further boost her damage.

A few turns after the fight started, decided to quit so I can unlock the rest of Freya’s Force Enhancements up to the max Level of 30.

Didn’t do this before because the resources needed to do this is still really scarce. That’s also why I didn’t bother to get all of Gabranth’s Force Enhancements.

Don’t know how long I’ll keep using Gabranth. Besides, I don’t even have his BT. But at least I have all of Freya’s weapons and I did Blue her High Armor and even completed all of her Boards and such already.

Plus, Freya’s a support and a pretty good one at that so I’m more likely to use her often enough when compared to Gabranth who isn’t as fully built.

This fight sucks. Absolutely hate it. Maybe if I’d brought different chars here, it wouldn’t be so bad. But I want to run Sephi through this quest. And my next best Force weapon after Kam’lanaut’s that could work with Seph as my main DPS is Gabranth’s.

The Crystal Armors love to give themselves framed buffs which is annoying. I do have Seymour’s LD Call which can dispel all buffs but that can only be used once.

Raijin’s LD Call will render all HP damage to 0 for like 2 turns so that helped me with the force attack of the enemies. His and Seymour’s Calls can inflict some debuffs too while Prishe’s Calls can increase the damage dealt by its Caller.

The Crystal Armors getting and retaining a lot of brave during their force time was annoying to deal with too, especially when they also end up being able to move multiple times in a row.

Freya really needs to be up in the air while this is happening so she can break or, at the very least, reduce the brave of the enemies and battery and heal the party.

If Freya isn’t up in the air when the enemies turn warp, then it’s basically game over which was what happened on my first run. Should have summoned a turn or 2 ago but I miscalculated.

The Crystal Armors dropped down to 49% HP while I hadn’t been able to get Freya to jump yet. So the enemies warped their turns and kept on attacking, causing one of my chars to die. Eff!

On my next try, I dropped Raijin’s and Prishe’s Calls and brought in Balthier’s (Ffamran mied Bunansa) from Final Fantasy XII and Faris Scherwiz’s (Sarisa Scherwil Tycoon) from Final Fantasy V instead.

Faris’s Calls inflict a lot of framed debuffs while Balthier’s Calls dispel buffs.

Initially, I thought this try was going pretty well. I borrowed a friend support Kain and I brought him in when I activated Sephiroth’s Burst+ phase. Kain can also fly up into the air like Freya. He deals more damage than her, especially since he also has a BT but he can’t heal or battery the party.

So while Sephi was in his BT+ mode, Freya and Kain were up in the air and dealing off-turn damage every time Seph moved.

After Sephiroth’s Burst+ phase ended, spammed Kain’s LD, which is instant turn rate, so I could get Gabranth back in the field. Had Gabranth use his Force ability then a few turns after that, I got a message that “an unexpected error has occurred. Please make sure you are connected to the internet before trying again.”

There was a whole bunch of numbers after that message. Had no choice but to restart the fight after checking on my wi-fi. This was really freaking annoying and frustrating, especially when it happened again not long after I started the fight again. Argh! WTF is going on here? Eff this fight.

Tried again and, thankfully, there were no more connection errors. Faris’s Calls helped in keeping the enemies from buffing themselves. If they do manage to buff themselves, then at least I have Balthier’s Calls and Seymour’s LD Call to dispel those buffs.

By turn 30, I’d already used up my Odin summon, the friend support Kain that I borrowed, and Sephiroth’s BT+ phase.

Had also activated Gabranth’s FR. Currently have 1 turn of my force time left and the HP damage bonus was at 445%. It was Sephiroth’s turn. His BT+ effect just ended a turn or 2 ago. 

The Crystal Armors were down to 48% and 55% HP. Their force gauge was currently at 52.0%. In retrospect, shouldn’t have used Gabranth’s FR yet. Should have waited until the force gauge of the enemies was at a really low number before using Gabranth’s Force ability. 

Because that max brave down aura was really annoying. Without it and even the brave gains down aura, my chars could have dealt more damage.

Still, I thought things were going well enough seeing as the enemies only had around half of their health remaining or thereabouts.

But the next time my force gauge charged back to 100%, ended up doing it again. Had Sephiroth use his BT+ finisher then had Gabranth use his Force ability. This time the force gauge of the enemies was at 74.0%.

Ugh. Really shouldn’t have used Gabranth’s FR yet. If I’d just waited until the force gauge of the enemies went down to 0, would have been able to deal more damage and maybe the fight would have ended already. 

As it was, after my second use of Gabranth’s Force ability, can’t use it anymore even if my force gauge charged back up to 100%.

The fight was far from over though. The health bars of the Crystal Armors were down to the red but they still felt so freaking tanky. It still took forever to lower their HP without being under the effects of a char’s force time.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, my chars nearly died to the attacks of the enemies while their force time was up. Can only be glad that they didn’t actually die.

And thanks to Freya, was able to get everyone back to full health soon enough. But still. This quest was now such a slog to get through. Basically just kept on spamming everyone’s skills, hoping the battle would just end already.

Unfortunately, that didn’t happen before the Crystal Armors got their force gauge to 100% again. One of them warped to the front of the turn order. Their target was Freya.

If only she was currently up in the air. Was all out of uses of Freya’s LD though. Her LD would instantly give her 3 stacks of her overhead buff. This will allow her to instantly fly up into the air. 

Since I can’t use her LD anymore, have to wait for like 3 turns before getting her overhead buff to max stacks. Right now, she has 2.

The Crystal Armor attacked Freya. To my surprise and relief, the attack missed. The next attack didn’t miss though. The enemy was still targeting Freya. She provides party-wide Last Stand though so when the attack hit Freya, her HP just dropped to 1.

If the Crystal Armor just targeted someone else next - but no. Of course, he ended up targeting Freya again. And of course, the attack didn’t miss this time.

Which means I gotta start all over again. Argh! Was so close already. The Crystal Armors were already down to 4% and 6% HP. Sigh. Eff this fight!

For my next try of this Shinryu quest, my team was Sephiroth, Freya, and Gabranth with Odin as my summon. My Calls were Seymour’s, Faris’s, and Yuffie Kisaragi’s from Final Fantasy VII.

Yuffie’s Calls can dispel buffs while also inflicting debuffs.

In previous runs, I’d been borrowing a friend support Kain then having him and Freya fly up into the air to deal off-turn damage during Sephiroth’s BT+ phase. Without an active force time though, this barely put a dent on the health bars of the enemies.

Also, I’d end up spamming Kain’s instant turn rate LD soon after the end of Sephi’s BT+ mode so he’d leave already. Wanted Gabranth back so I can use his Force ability while the effects of Seph’s BT+ was still up.

This was a waste though. I could have kept Kain in the field longer so he could have helped deal more damage. 

And it would have been better to activate Sephiroth’s Burst+ phase while under the effects of a char’s Force ability.

So on this try, decided to borrow a friend support Tidus from Final Fantasy X. Tidus’s FR has the following force time effects:

HP damage bonus +30% when party member acts with instant turn rate (excluding consecutive attacks from Burst mode)

HP damage bonus +15% when party member selects attack on debuffed enemy

Sephiroth doesn’t have any moves that are instant turn rate other than his Additional Ability which he’s never using inside his BT+ phase. So he was never able to increase the HP damage bonus by 30%.

The enemies were already afflicted with a lot of debuffs though so Sephi was able to get the 15% HP damage bonus every time he attacked during his BT+ mode.

When I brought in Tidus, had him use his BT+ finisher and his FR ability. Also ended up having him use his LD and Ex.

By the time I activated Sephiroth’s Burst+ mode, the enemies were down to 74% and 72% HP. Their force gauge was at 22.1%.

Have 7 turns of force time left and the HP damage bonus from Tidus’s FR was currently at 237%.

Had Sephi use his Ex on his previous turn so when I activated his Burst+ phase, he has a free skill.

By the time Seph was about to cast Heaven’s Light, his finishing Burst+ move, the enemies were down to 52% and 56% HP. Have 1 turn of force time left and the HP damage bonus was at 327%.

Sephi was able to deal 37576589 total HP damage during his Burst+ mode.

Gabranth returned soon after since I’d already used up all of the turns I had with Tidus. Still had to wait for my force gauge to charge back to 100% again though before I could use Gabranth’s Force ability.

Before that happened, the enemies got to go in their force time. Made sure to wait until the force gauge of the enemies was really low before activating Gabranth’s FR.

By turn 46, the Crystal Armors were down to 18% HP and their force gauge was at 15.7%. Have 1 turn of my force time left and the HP damage bonus was at 464%. Also have 1 turn of Seph’s BT+ effect left.

Afterwards, was once again back to waiting for my force gauge to charge to 100% again.

When I summoned Odin, the enemies were down to 5% and 6% HP and my force gauge just got back to 100%. The force gauge of the bosses was at 10.4%.

As soon as it was Gabranth’s turn, had him use his Force ability already. Soon, the enemies were down to 1% HP. Have 8 turns of force time left and the HP damage bonus was at 184%.

It was Sephiroth who dealt the killing blow, finishing off both enemies at the same time and ending the battle on turn 57.

Got the score and all the other mission requirements. So glad to finally be over and done with this fight. 

Really hated this quest but at least I was able to get through it and even got to make Sephi work here. Bringing in that friend support Tidus and using his FR really helped.

Bachelor Number 9

“Nell Jones, how the hell did you talk me into this?” Deeks muttered as he peered through the curtains to the stage beyond where a man was standing in a three piece suit. The auctioneer had intruded him as Kevin Bailey, DEA’s offering for the night’s charity event.

It was the night of the 10th annual Federal Agency Charity, open only to federal and military personnel. Somehow the Office of Special Projects had escaped participating in most of the festivities in previous years, usually because they were out of the country or in some form of distress.

This year though, Deeks and Sam hadn’t been so lucky. Sam had already been bought by a nice looking woman who vaguely resembled Roberta.

“Because you know it’s for a good cause,” Nell answered from behind him. “That and Kensi and I bugged you so much you finally said yes to make us shut up.”

Deeks turned to glare at her and gestured to the curtains.

“I think it’s interesting that neither of you have ever participated in one of these things.”

“We’re just mere women. How could we possibly compare with LA’s most eligible bachelors?” Nell attempted an innocent expression and he squinted at her skeptically.

“You are a troublemaker,” he decided, taking another look out the curtain. Someone made a final bid on Kevin for $200 and he walked off stage to join the lucky recipient. Pulling in a deep breath, he squared his shoulders. “Here we go.”

Nell squeezed his shoulder encouragingly.

“You’ll be fine. I’m sure it’ll be just like the old days for you.” Before he could question that troubling comment, Nell gave him a remarkably strong push and he was on the other side of the curtain. “Now put all those muscles to good use.”

“And introducing bachelor 9, Marty Deeks!” The auctioneer announced loudly, smiling as he walked to the center of the floor. “Marty is an NCIS Investigator who has worked with his agency for over a decade. He enjoys surfing, spending time with his retired police dog, and eating tacos on the beach.”

Kensi and Nell had insisted he remove any part of his bio that mentioned marriage. He had done so very reluctantly. The auctioneer squeezed his bicep and added,

“And you probably can’t see it from here, ladies and gentleman, but let me tell you, Marty has the most beautiful blue eyes. They match his shirt perfectly.”

Somebody in the audience whistled and he glanced out into the sea of faces. Kensi was near the center, clearly holding back a smile, and sitting right next to her was none other than Talia Del Campo. He would bet anything that she was the one who wolf whistled.

When she saw him looking, she winked at him, something about her expression causing a hint of alarm to run through him.

“Alright, so who would like to make the first bid?”

“$10,” a woman towards the back called out.

The bids slowly increased, spurred on by the announcer’s encouragement and assurance that his “muscles were as fabulous as they looked”.

“$250,” Talia called out loudly, holding up her little sign with a giant grin. Deeks glanced at Kensi, but she seemed completely at ease.

“Make that $300,” blonde agent in a short blue dress countered, her expression fierce enough that Deeks decided he might not mind Talia winning after all.

“$350.”

“$400.”

Deeks felt a little faint as they spit out bids at rapid fire pace. The announcer looked a unnerved too as she lost control of the auction and her role became unnecessary. Talia and the other agent didn’t need any encouragement.

“$650,” Talia said defiantly, making it clear she wasn’t anywhere near backing down. The blonde wavered for a second, glancing up at Deeks, and then reluctantly lowered her sign.

“Well, wasn’t that exciting?” the auctioneer commented awkwardly. “Bachelor 9 goes to bidder 24.”

There was one more bachelor after Deeks and he waited impatiently for the auction to finish so he could find Kensi and Talia. They were chatting by the refreshment table, a far cry from when they’d first met and been in danger of killing each other.

“Oh, there he is,” Talia sang, noticing him first. “My date.”

“Hey Deeks,” Kensi greeted him, leaning over to kiss his cheek. He accepted it distractedly as Talia joined him on his other side.

“Talia, you just bet over $600 on me,” he said.

“I know. That was pretty fun.”

“Why?”

“Um, you didn’t want to go out with that blonde chick from the FBI, did you?” Talia asked.

“No, I don’t want to go out with any of these women,” Deeks said honestly.

“I won’t take offense cause I know you’re only joking.” Smiling up at him, Talia looped her arm through his, and kissed his cheek. He leaned away with a frown.

“Kens, are you ok with this?” Kensi just shrugged at his question.

“Sure. I know Talia so I have nothing to worry about.”

“Exactly,” Talia agreed. She ran her hand down traveled higher, squeezing along the way, and she nodded in apparent approval. “Very impressive. I can’t wait to see what else is hiding under this shirt.”

“Plus, Talia knows that if she did try anything, I would dismembered her,” Kensi added with a warning look.

“Noted.” If Talia was bothered by the threat and patted Deeks’ shoulder. “I will take very good care of Marty.”

“That doesn’t reassure me at all,” Deeks muttered as Talia started to tug him away. “Kensi, don’t let her take me.”

“Have fun, guys. Remember Talia, you can look, but don’t touch.”
