somthing is happening that I don't think Nintendo or the games industry (indie excluded) at large seems to have considered:

If somthing is going to start costing more, people start scrutinizing the thing way more than they previously would have

I'm seeing a lot of people saying that they've looked Mario Kart World over and decided that its lacking, that there ain't enough content to justify the price of play

And I mean, yeah? If this was a $60 game people would be over the moon, they'd be singing its praises for how new and cool and fun it looks, but now? A game thats $10/$20 shy of $100 depending on what version you get?

Everyone's expectations get jacked up along with the price. We were grimly expecting GTA 6 to be a $90/$100 game because its fucking GTA, the game series that everyone fucking knows even if they don't know a thing about vidya gaems

GTA means an incredible gaming experience like no other, huge dense and full of enough content to last you for months or even a full year and more. People will buy it and goshdammit they darn will justify the price by it being the fucking video game, and Rockstar knows it

but Mario Kart? At launch? With bare bones everything? Almost a hundy dollars???

I think if GTA6 had come out first at a hundy bucks, it would have sold like hotcakes and normalized the idea of higher prices because GTA is the video game. Right now there are a ton of casual game players that do not follow game news (the kind of people Nintendo failed to account for when they were marketing the WiiU) who have no fucking clue about the looming intent to sell GTA6 for more than $60

They'd show up on release day, get smacked in the face with the price, then justify it to themselves with "inflation" or whatever and swallow the cost because its fucking GRAND THEFT AUTO BAYBEE

but because Nintendo rushed out ahead exuberantly, like a screeching wide eyed 4 year old into the street after a ball, the whole thing is now fuckled

Every game that isn't GTA is going to get looked over with a microscope and a fine toothed comb. wheres the $90 of content? Why should I buy this luxury priced game?

The industry willfully ignores the fact that AIN'T NO ONE GOT NO MONEY and going forward, if game prices do go up? That means your average Johnny Jerkoff is probs only gonna be able to buy one major big release every few months, which means that they're going to be waaaay more discerning when it comes to the games they choose

Higher Prices: Less game sales

a game that would have done gangbusters at $60 will now languish at $80/$90 because its still being made with the same about of content as a 60 smackers game, and people will always want more bang for their buck

so in summation Nintendy has screwed over the industry, tariffs be damned, they were still planning high prices well before orange man took office

People from all walks are fucking pissed about the new prices of one of the few previously affordable forms of escapism, and that anger is going to carry to every new game related announcement from now on. I'm really interested to see what the reaction to GTA6's release date and price announcement will be by the above mentioned casual gamers, now that they've gotten good and outraged by the whole Nintendo shitshow

But why does the Player becomes Hatred (often) at night? Well...Its because...they're tired, thats it, if they are too tired, they turn into Hatred, they didn't even realize it themself that was happening until Kyoko pointed it out.

like idk i just always found it odd when people act like nintendo is the company that kills ips. i mean these are the guys who just made a new famicom detective club game. the ones that were pushing for fire emblem and pikmin to become mainstream and now they are.

i kinda feel like nintendo is the only company that DOESNT kill off ips and if they do its for a very strong reason (star fox being very outdated arcade-esque game design and selling poorly, f-zero being outdone by mario kart to a point of being redundant and selling nothing, advance wars due to being a less fun fire emblem, earthbound due to itoi refusing to let the series continue, kid icarus due to sakurai refusing to go back to the series and nobody could fill those shoes, etc)

and a lot of the times a series isnt even Dead its just their devs are busy. like rhythm heaven is made by intelligent systems who make fire emblem, warioware, and paper mario, so theyve kinda just had their hands way too full making sure these series have a steady flow on switch (because then people would call them dead)

mario kart wii is my favorite of the mario karts, its just so fun to play (though funnily enough, i dont normally use a flame runner, i usually do a medium sized character on the mach bike :P)

im pretty excited for the switch 2, mainly for the new mario kart, which is what led me to do something mario kart related for this day ^^

i will start by introducing my cat, tomato first since she’s the real star here, obviously 🙄.

Tomato showed up after my beloved mother passed away. i found her living under my shed infront of my home and i decided what better way to cope than to make a new friend, and so i did. heres a picture of our first introduction;

as you can see, tomato and me have became best friends since we have met eachother, now im going to give you the whole backstory of how me and her became best friends.

it all started the week of November 13, 2023. my beloved mother had just passed away and there was a kitty hanging around our shed for months prior, so i decided what better way to cope than to make a new friend! and so i did! i started by leaving food and water for her and i took a picture and posted her on my local fb group to see if she belonged to anybody, to my surprise, this very sweet and loving cat had no home. she was also really tiny when i met her. A lady reached out and helped me get her up to date with shots and spayed, so they tipped her ear. I also found 2 more kitties but i let my roommates claim them. ever since Tomato moved in, me and her have been best friends. She loves to watch me play games on my PC, and sleep on my bed, she evem meows at me when she sees me grabbing my shoes coat and purse, and she meows when i come home and doesnt hesitate to jump into my arm for me to hug her, and she loves tight hugs! everyone of my friends loves her and its just because she’s so sweet amd affectionate and she really helped me cope with my mothers passing, and she came in my life at the perfect time. I hope you guys love tomato just as much as i do as she is truly so so special to me. she evem has her own theme song she replies to (classified information)!!

Asking about your old boss

She was the general manager of the Kiehl's i used to work at before I landed this job. I was the operations manager so she was less my BossTM and moreso a colleague since we were both on the management team.

I have also never met someone more magnetically attracted to abusive relationships than her.

When I met her, she had been in a relationship with abusive boyfriend number 1 for 7 years already. He was like, 6 years older than her but thats not a red flag on its own. It's what else he did that made the age gap a red flag in his specific case.

Let's call him John. John was a loser. That's the best way I can describe him. He had lost his job at a clothing store because the company went under and had to lay off their entire workforce so, that initial part is not his fault and could happen to anyone. However, John took this to mean that he could sit on his ass all day and freeload off of her indefinitely. He didn't try to look for other jobs, he didn't do the housework, he didn't run errands, nothing. He shoved everything on her and then would cry and scream and wail that he was "overwhelmed" whenever she would ask him to look for another job or like, vacuum. He was also emotionally abusive and incredibly manipulative to the point where she would often call me crying that she had "upset him." He could not get a grip on his anger and broke their Nintendo switch because he launched it at their wall after getting frustrated by Mario kart.

I met him a few times in person but people like him are always on their best behavior around people who could potentially call the cops on them for their treatment of their partner. There was always something a bit off about him when I would talk to him. John then got a knock on their door from a federal agent telling him to knock it off with the CP before they charge him for it out of nowhere, and turns out he was pursuing actual CSAM in his free time. It was that that finally made her break up with him, but because they were common law it wasn't easy to do that without legal papers. John proceeded to use the common law argument to come over to her apartment and take half of everything. Literally, EVERYTHING. He took half of the measuring cups. The end of John was also the end of me working there and jumping ship to the airport.

Abusive boyfriend number 2 was a guy we will call Chris. Chris actually started fine, at least we both thought. She had grown up in a hardcore evangelical cult in her Ojibwe reservation as a kid, and Chris was in the same cult as her when they were kids. I had begged her to stay single for at least a year after John, but she hooked up with Chris within 2 months of breaking up with John. Chris had a dog and ran his own business in home renovation. Chris was also, we would discover, the biggest alcoholic either of us had ever met. Like, I am confused how he is still alive. He would drink at least 20+ cans per day, often accompanied by multiple bottles of wine. And then he would drive like this. And when either of us would tell him he was going to fucking drop dead in the next 5 years if he didn't change his lifestyle he would flip shit and tell us we just hated addicts.

Here's the thing man. You are not attempting to address how your addiction is putting yourself and others in danger (DONT FUCKING DRIVE HOLY SHIT), and you're using the "waaa you just hate addicts!!" shit as an excuse not to. He was also really good at hiding when he had been drinking. I had been in the car with him one time and when my apartment was 200 meters away he pulled out a beer and started drinking and then went "aw, I'm out already, I just bought this case today :(("

He had also been caught cheating multiple times. Both with other women and men, and by going to strip clubs and hiring sex workers without her knowledge or consent. When confronted he would claim that she "wasn't letting him explore his sexuality" and that because he was so repressed in the cult they grew up in she "couldn't expect him to act right all the time." Mein gott.

And then he turned violent. When she had confronted him about his alcoholism and serial cheating with an ultimatum, he decided the best course of action was to get physical. That night I woke up to my phone giving me my emergency text chime at 3am to her telling me she was gonna off herself because of him. We lived half a block away from each other at this point and had each other's spare keys in case we locked ourselves out, so i ran through sketchy downtown alleyways in my pajamas half asleep to get to her building in time. I found nothing and no one there except a world class mess. She had already called an ambulance to get herself hospitalized, which i didn't know until she was allowed to have her phone back.

She told me that she was done with him then. I told her if she didn't leave him then I was done with this shit too.

And then she moved in with him. She broke her lease and moved in with him. Because "but I love him 🥺." I have only been that mad at someone a few times in my life, but needless to say I did not talk to her for months and gave her a final "good luck, I'm not dealing with your codependent bullshit anymore."

I only talked to her again when she called me to say that she had finally broken up with Chris and wished she had listened to me the entire time I told her to stay out of relationships and that any major red flag like cheating and violent alcoholism is a one-and-done situation, not an endless second chances situation. I was still mad at her for ignoring my pleading for years up to this point and continuously clinging to abusive men over and over, but she promised me that she would stay single now.

2 weeks later I got a text saying she had a boyfriend again. And "but he's so mentally stable 🥺 and I love him though 🥺"

I have never properly verbally yelled at my friends before that day that I called her immediately and let her fucking have it.

Yeah plenty of the ebverse fellas play video games, most of them are gen z kids (kb leti and doris being the exceptions) after all lol! And some of them dabble in board games and puzzle type activities! I think itd be easier if I just listed them off so:

Raina - Shes a streamer! And she's a quite famous one too! She loves video games, they're her soul lmao. She mostly specializes in fighting games as thats her fav genre.

Hoana - Shes also a famous streamer like Raina! She specializes in Rhythm Games and Horror Games.

Ebony - Eb rarely plays video games, but she likes stuff like Tetris and Mario Kart! The types of games she plays most often though are puzzle activity type games, and the occasional card game here and there.

Kind Boy - Considering his whole arm situation, KB stopped play video games when he died, and now mainly enjoys board games and card games with Eb! He also likes puzzles, as well as things like crosswords n the like. Real dadmaxxing

Neco - She also loves video games! She mainly plays RPGs and 3d Platformers.

Ben - He's not too much of a gamer but he can fuck up a round of CoD no problem. He mainly plays FPSs and Hero Shooters (yes he plays overwatch pensive emoji). He also dabbles in board games.

Allison - Allison is a fucking loser that hates fun so she doesn't play games, however she will play a card game with people if there's some sort of bet involved with it. She mainly likes doing puzzles by herself. However, she Will check out a video game if it sounds interesting enough to her, and by interesting I mean she's the type of mf that only plays really dark and heavy video games because she wants to hurt herself with the stress of the themes.

Leti - Leti really likes racing games! Shes also the queen of board games!

Gem - Gems not much of a gamer but they like trying out any game that they know has accessibility options that allow for them to have a good enough time with them. They prefer to listen to Jade play through video games for the most part. They also like most board and card games.

Jade - Jade loves video games! She mainly plays platformers and metroidvanias. She isn't too much of a fan of board games but she has a fun time playing them with Gem and Doris.

Doris - Doris isn't much of a gamer, but she likes a lot of party games! (And some of her alters prefer stuff like platformers, horror games, and even RPGs) She, like Leti, is a queen of card games for the most part though!

if its not already a thing to the side, i do HIGHLY suggest nintendo to add the entirety of wuhu island with the main focus being a side story/mission island. yes it could have a cup or two and a few battle courses, but theres more that could be done with it if they focus on missions. the first cup could include wuhu loop and maka wuhu, a track that includes this route and one that includes this route. the battle courses could be wuhu town, the lake, and the volcano. maybe they can throw in some wii fit locations to add more tracks. i honestly think they could do a lot more with it than what ive come up with and maybe they could add even more to it. who knows. i dont know how knockout tour could work with this, they may have to exclude it or cut it short, but i do know this game is a perfect opportunity to bring back wuhu. as for characters, there's not much outside of miis, sportsmates, wii fit trainer, nintendogs and maybe cats, and maybe characters from mii plaza and miitopia.

another one that i think would be really good is a tour dlc. now now, i know what youre thinking, but its not all that bad. lets say nintendo gave the existing city tracks a make over, slapped them on a small scale world map, and extended the city idea by giving more popular some tracks. they could give us brazil, egypt, parts of russia, antarctica, turkey, mexico, china, india, korea, saudi arabia, new zealand, etc. thats just scratching the surface. if they want to be really ballsy, they could make it incredibly accurate and charge a good bit of money for it. it wouldnt be like flight sim where the world map is taken straight from public domain sources and licensed works and uploaded to a cloud, this would be a unique recreation of the world as we know it and made into a mario kart style open world environment. it would be almost an entirely new game added as dlc for an already massive game. it may take a lot of time, but they already have some assets, so theoretically it could be done.

Alright enough time has passed and I slept enough heres my brief thoughts on the nintendo switch 2 direct ill make this brief.

Console Overall Thoughts:

It's definitely a better switch. I'll admit having it expensive at launch with no oled screen is disappointing. I think its fine in the US but in Canada it's the equivalent of half a college student's rent which is definitely a choice. I think the fact its so much graphically intense and can get 120 fps support on even Prime 4 is a great sign for how graphically intense its gonna be though. Games look so much better on the switch 2 like I think being able to play switch 1 games and make them look better is great for me alone. Download play being back is a major plus for me with gamesharing its a great investment. I can definetly imagine myself getting back on third parties for the next system for a good long while. They did not do shit with mouse mode but I see it being a game changer, ik the basketball game is cool and all and great for disabled users but it would be cool to see some pc games like (i cant believe im saying this) league of legends on it to see how big its gonna be. I did not care for the C button. I'm going to use discord anyway. Close enough though, welcome back Wii U Chat. NSO getting gamecube games is cool but no melee definetly makes me not wanna get it for a while. If ever cause that shit is expensive.

First Party Games:

I think the amount of first party games they revealed is concerning but its only because they revealed 4 first party games and theres still a couple switch 1 games on the way. Theyre treating switch 1 editions as theyre own games which ig makes sense but some are like botw/totk which has a next gen upgrade, and others are like forgotten land which is essentially an expansion to the old game. So yeah, ig there is alot of content to get. I still wanted more games but whatever. In terms of the reveals though. Oh my fucking god. This has to be the most what the fuck this is what we wanted in terms of like games in general and I cant believe it came from this direct. Especially for me specifically. Mario kart world may be expensive as fuck but goddamn that game looks incredible. It looks so big and expansive and the fact its like forza but mario kart guarrentees so much content out of it. Theres like a billion characters with 24 character racing, the open world and theres like a billion gimmicks, the courses look incredible. I'm gonna put like 100 hours in this game in like the first week and theres gonna be so much content to put in. I can imagine myself getting that and Donkey Kong when the console comes out, which is also looking to be a bop. It looks alot more like the Rare games which is awesome and the gameplay looks super cool and meaty. This is definetly the next gen showcase for sure and im looking foward to getting it. Hyrule warriors I wont be getting but its cool were getting a game based on the imprissioning war. KIRBY AIR RIDE 2. I am happy were getting a next gen upgrade with new content for the switch for forgotten land but it looks super small so far which is a shame. AIR RIDE 2'S GOT ME HYPE THOUGH. A long requested sequel to a Kirby game people have been waiting on is enough. THE FACT WERE GETTING A NEW AIR RIDE BY THE SAKURAI HIMSELF AFTER 20 YEARS OF NOT MAKING A NEW KIRBY GAME IS ENOUGH TO MAKE A MAN CRY. I never thought wed see sakurai make a kirby game again and the fact were still seeing the franchise move forward with kumazaki is so comforting. Were getting a double of new Kirby game styles and its fucking awesome.

Third Party:

Who killed me, I died and went to heaven. Dont need to speak much on these cause its teases but fucking deltarune getting a confirmed a release date man. Even if I dont get the switch 2 on launch day I know deltarunes got me for a long while. I cant fucking wait to play that game. Silksong as well, no date but still glad to hear thats coming out this year. Fucking from software getting an original ip exclusive game is fucking insane, idk how much nintendo had to pay to get that, but I thought we'd see gta getting an appearence and not fromsoft. Cool as shit though, love the steampunk aesthetic!! And the gameplay looks sick, not sure about it being a multiplayer game but its gonna look sick so we gucci.

And then the prices hit:

Now for non americans its fine, 500 dollars is a bit on the pricer side but its expected with it being a next gen upgrade and with the game. Its the same price as the ps5 and you can bring it on the go its good. For us Canadians it's 700 dollars which makes me wanna commit suppuku. Granted I'll find a way to get it but its not just the console. Games are genually so much expensive now, theyre all 70 dollars at least, i hear physicals are gonna be a 10 dollar increase but I cant confirm. Game upgrades are 10 to 20 dollars, the fucking manual costs money, NSO. And worst of all on its own mario kart world costs 80 dollars, over 100 dollars here. Even when you take in to account the cost of living not improving at all over the past 30 years and shit, idk man I just think nintendo is greedy and all the pissing over nintendos business practices are for once justified. I think there needs to be a backlash for this, not just nessacarly for nintendo cause lets be honest were all gonna get this shit at some point, but for the rest of the industry cause this shit is unbelievable.

Final Thoughts:

Yeah I'm getting it this year. Ill admit though pricing and the discourse around made this go from a IM GETTING IT RIGHT NOW, to a, ill wait later on in the year to get it. I have a massive backlog of games to complete after the semester so im definetly good on content. I really really want the switch 2 though. Not just cause its the nintendo console (though that is a big reason), but also it looks like a good big upgrade on the switch with loads of cool shit on it. I definitely will get it on some points, but how and when is another story now

but the funniest thing is joe views Patrick as like his baby and tries to play with him likes he literally a baby doll tries to dress him up and pretends to give him his baba tries to carry him around joe wants to be the one to put patrick down for a nap pete and andy think its funny that joe goes into little space to pretend to be older but its cute and innocent and little joe trying to act out being patricks parent

and patrick can sometimes get annoyed because hes a “big boy joe” and he doesnt need a baba anymore (he uses a sippy cup) and he can walk sometimes andy or pete have to intervene because patricks extra fussy that day and they really dont need him or joe or both crying or because joe tries to carry him into another room or upstairs and thats just so so so dangerous

but patrick also wants to spend all his time with joe because that’s his big brother and he like worships him

joe shows him really cool stuff like how to play mario kart (patricks really really bad at it but joe lets him win ever like 5th game) and pokemon and joe even lets patrick tell him about blues clues and the backgardigains and they both love ninja turtles and hot wheels so it all works out
