Angel getting knocked off balance after a few grueling weeks at the studio (because stress makes them worse), but like with the kind of vertigo that makes you feel like you're floating and untethered, but not spinning

Husk notices when something's off because Angel will stand up from the bar and pause with a hand outstretched before he starts walking, like he needs to recalibrate real quick

he lays on top of Husk with his face in Husk's chest because it's dark and then he'll forbid Husk from moving because that makes it worse, so Husk just kinda rests a hand on his back while they cuddle

i  don't  believe  al  is  touch  averse  for  any  particularly  traumatic  reason,  and  while  i'm  sure  he  likes  to  use  the  fact  that  he  generally  doesn't  allow  other  people  to  initiate  physical  contact  as  another  vehicle  to  convey  a  sense  of  superiority  (  he  can  touch  you,  but  you  don't  have  the  right  to  touch  him  )  i  think  ultimately  he  just  finds  it  kind  of  icky.

TDI Advice wanted!

Hi TD fans! I'm planning a rewrite of TDI, the cast will be 18 for in-universe reasons (think legal contracts, I'm not gonna be weird about them). I'm aiming to make it more realistic and in line with the 2007 aesthetic, i.e era appropriate lingo & references, mobile phones are rare, homophobia is a bigger concern etc, but I'm wondering how far I should take it?

In the end I'll write what I enjoy, but should I lean more heavily into the gritty side of reality TV both on and behind the screen, include more notable sexism, potential slurs and creepy behaviours etc? The point is for there to be believable drama in-universe and the topics planned all have some merit to be present. I have some hard lines I'll never cross (see last tags on the post for those curious) and I want people familiar with the themes to feel seen rather than exploited reading it.

At the end of the day the cast are just youngsters getting to know each other and themselves. I want to humanize them and write believable conflicts without demonizing anyone, it is intended as a character driven story after all. But I also want to know what others think would make for an enjoyable read/take on the show.

The cast will inevitably diverge from their canon counterparts, but I am unsure how to handle certain characters, an example being LeShawna. She's clearly based on a racist stereotype, but her personality, background and lingo are a huge part of her appeal and I'd rather portray her in a better light than change her from the ground up. If you have any pointers I can keep in mind for her or anyone else you think is often portrayed poorly in canon or fanon then please let me hear your takes! This goes for non-TDI castmates as well, even if they don't show up in the story I wanna know what people think does and doesn't work for them and their tropes/traits cause it might still be relevant!

am i the only one who thinks that sirius isn't as impulsive as people think he is? he doesn't really give me vibes of someone who goes into stuff without thinking . i think he is pretty reckless and likes to do dangerous things for the adrenaline rush, but he doesn't seem impulsive to me. he knows the consequences but doesn't really care 1/2

friend, ur absolutely in the right space bc i hate the ‘reckless impulsive sirius!!’ characterisation lol. i don’t think i’d mind it so much if it didn’t feel like—sirius’ is invalidated for it? if that makes sense?

but as we see him in canon, def don’t think he was reckless or impulsive, at least not much than the average person in some extraordinarily non-average circumstances.

re the trauma response thing, hmmm. can u elaborate why u think that? 👀 i’m curious now bc i think i hc the opposite—he became more ‘mature’ and introspective bc of his trauma. the nature vs nurture is interesting bc the only place i can see that is perhaps when he was sorted gryffindor? and there’s like a—general culture of being headasses so he joined in ykwim?

i poke fun at michael a lot for not hitting the fucking bricks but i do spin around thoughts about how he DID plan on exactly that and tried for about a few years probably— i still need to figure out where and settle on the exact time frame but i think once he was old enough he moved for a bit. probably not VERY far, definitely still in the state with plans to work and save money for awhile before either going to school or finding a better job further away. that is, until he got that message (call, letter, lost tape, what have you) calling him for sister location and just couldn’t ignore it… so he went back to hurricane. stayed in their abandoned house. finally found out the full truth about the possession and was left with no purpose but to end what his father started.

I don’t know, the thing that really bothers me about Greta Gerwig’s films is that there is just this gaping hole where gay women should be. Like, when you’re making these movies about the trap of heterosexual marriage, breaking free of that, and the only concrete answer is to be a single woman over and over and over again, it feels like an intentional absence. You can watch the movie with a queer lens, but it is egregious that you may only consider homosexuality in her movies in this way. It ought to be in them. There is no reason for it not to be there. Women don’t fuck women in Greta Gerwig’s feminist liberations. Often, they don’t have sex at all.

Thoughts on Grumbo?

I would kill for them. I think they might be the biggest hyperfixation ship in my life, I don't remember this level of insanity with any other fandom before.

I guess it’s not that visible from me, because I prefer to keep my socials blogs kinda clean from rebloging stuff*, AND I don’t draw them so often because I have so much projects on me and no time, it’s kinda sad.

honestly, if I had started, there would have been a huge lecture about grumbo, they have had so much going on for several years, and all the details fit so perfectly into an incredibly interesting dynamic that includes not only the interaction between the two of them, but also the essence of each of them, some character traits, daily habits, traumas and etc.

I'm going to say something that really upsets me. the problem of grumbo's non-popularity is very much based on the fact that their ship does not lie on the surface. it’s not as accessible as other popular ships in this fandom, and this is extremely painful, considering what their history really is.

grumbo are built on much bigger things than just silly interactions between characters that you might notice in episodes, even bigger than scripted lore moments on hermitcraft and life series. everything goes from their very first collabs to this day for several years already, and some micro fragments/clips from their videos are simply NOTHING compared to the context of the whole story. and just a disclaimer: I'm talking about the characters here, not about real people, the whole story only falls on their characters.

I often see that people may not understand grumbo’s ship dynamic at all simply because they watch only one pov (mostly grian). in this case, I beg you to watch both povs, you miss a lot if you watch only one person. in general, you can also watch third-party people with them! last life grumbo are also built on martyn's pov, for example.

I am so happy that their story started spinning again at the end of the hc s9 due to mumbo’s return, now in hc s10 + WHATEVER IS GOING ON in life series (especially in life series, because mumbo has NEVER had such possessive moments about grian before).
