blame the “hitting on your mom as a punishment” tiktok i just saw that literally blew my brain up. established because they’re disgustingly in love and because i say so
Eddie would normally consider himself pretty immune to the roar of arguing teenagers. Chaos surrounds their little Party. They’re not a quiet bunch when all together. It’s all shoving and yelling, giggling and roughhousing. Carpet-burned battle scars from the floor of Steve’s living room.
Lord knows Eddie himself wasn’t an inside-voice kind of person. He was certainly wont to standing on coffee tables and screeching demands for the remote when it was unjustly stolen away by villainous hands.
Eddie loved these people to death, and they were a lot of fucking fun to hang out with, it’s just this...this was an unreal level of noise. A normal sleepover night turned a little too rowdy, the adolescents celebrating the start of Summer with a bang.
Steve had already asked them to keep it down four times this evening. Nothing seemed to calm them. Not requests. Not threats of being sent home. Usually their Dungeon Master threatening their characters’ souls did the trick, but no go.
Getting teenagers to listen? A feat more impossible than defeating creatures from an alternate universe.
Dustin and Erica were in a bitching match about the best D&D class. Lucas and Mike had been fighting over movie choices for the last half hour. Eddie’s money was on the VHS player breaking before that, the constant mishandling and shoving of tapes had the poor thing practically smoking.
Will, ever the diplomat, was trying to be an impartial party when asked his movie opinions. Which, of course, caused more yelling.
Max and El had been the only ones being semi-quiet, but that quickly ended when they followed through on their surprise attack pillow fight, pummeling the boys senseless and causing the already unbearable volume to kick into overdrive. Eddie could practically feel Steve’s migraine building, even from where the dude had retreated to the kitchen. Dinner had been pizza. Quick. Easy. Clean. Or, it would have been if it hadn’t had been for the food fight. Steve was still in there scrubbing cheese out of his parents’ tiled backsplash. Dishes clattered in the distance when the cacophony hit its crescendo.
It was the proverbial straw.
“Alright, that’s it! Hey. Come on, guys. Knock it off,”
Nothing.
“HEY!”
He maybe overdid it that time, but the absolute ear-splitting boom of a yell he let out stopped the ruckus dead.
Silence rang for a beat.
Huh. Maybe Eddie should try out incorporating that into his music. He honestly hadn’t known he could get to that range.
The teenagers in the room stared at him, not cowed in the slightest, but curious enough to know what the hell Eddie’s problem was. Max was the first one to quirk an eyebrow at him.  “Geez, need attention much?”
Eddie folded his arms to show he meant business. “Steve has asked you guys to tone it down. You’re waking the fucking dead. Why don’t you guys, like, actually go be good human beings and help him clean up your mess you all made in the kitchen, huh?”
Lucas snorted. “Yeah, okay, mom. Why don’t you go help him, you guys will probably just make out in there, anyway.”
It was a teasing comment. Meant to jokingly rib before getting back to doing whatever the hell they wanted to do.
But, see. That just gave him an idea.
Never let it be said Eddie couldn’t be creative with his punishments. He was a DM after all.
“Alllllllright. New plan. Listen up or suffer, ankle biters,”
He really didn’t appreciate the snickers that brought about when he was trying to be intimidating. Rude.
“You going to send us to our room or something? I’m real scared,” Erica’s scathing, dry wit was unparalleled, truly.
“Nope. Better. It’s a new rule: You little shitheads give me attitude and don’t listen, I hit on your babysitter.”
It was silent for a minute, brains audibly computing that statement and coming up ERROR. Will hesitantly spoke up.
“Uh, Eddie, I really don’t think that’s--”
“Yeah, what the fuck?” Mike interrupted. “Why would you beating up Steve hurt us? I mean, like, I guess it would emotionally, but that’s fucked up, man.”
Eddie rolled his eyes, still smirking wickedly as his plan solidified.  “Oh, I don’t mean that kind of hitting, young Wheeler. Though, it may yet get physical--Hey, Steve?” He called out. The sink in the kitchen shut off after a second.
“Yeah?”
“Can you come here?”
The kids shuffled around on the floor warily as the other man walked into the living room. The energy had obviously shifted, it was probably an odd vibe to walk in to, but Eddie cut Steve off before he could ask any questions.
“You tired?”
“Uh, no. I’m fine--”
“It’s just you just keep on runnin’ through my mind constantly. I figured you’d be exhausted, sweetheart,” Eddie purred, the words cloyingly sweet and full of exaggerated charm.
There was a countdown, three, two, one...
A collective groan let out. A few uncomfortable laughs.  “Dude, what the hell?”
“You guys agreed not to be gross in front of us!”
“Oh, my god, can I actually get sick from how cheesy that was?”
Eddie had to work at keeping in character when his very first line had pulled the intended reaction. He was already reaching forward to curl an arm around Steve, pulling him in in a slow, sultry attempt at being smooth.
“What? Can’t I be sweet on my guy? You all will understand when you’re in love one day. Right, sugar?”
Fake gags and retching sounds, too dramatic to be real protests, but still indignant and annoyed. Eddie was pretty sure Dustin slapped a hand over his eyes.
“Uh...yes?” Steve, who had previously looked like a car accident had happened directly in front of him, was catching on to the play. He eyed the disgruntled floor-children with a growing grin and let Eddie snuggle up to him.
God, his baby was so clever. He always knew what Eddie was thinking.
Too busy having a non-verbal conversation with Steve on how to best annoy the kids, Eddie didn’t see Mike turning his attention back to the tv. He did, however, hear him telling the others to “Just ignore them, they’ll get all gushy and leave us alone.”
Oh, Michael, Michael. Wrong move.
“How you doing, babygirl?” Steve flushed, deep and red and--huh. Okay. Revisiting that one in the future. “You good? You need anything? Your head hurting, sweet thing? I can kiss it better,”  Eddie ducked forward to kiss Steve’s cheek. It was chaste, a sweet little thing...that Eddie made infinitely worse by the smacking, obnoxious kissy sounds he emulated there. The chorus of groans and protests started up again. He didn’t even pull his face away to call over to them.
“I’m sorry, is that attitude? Am I hearing more attitude?”
“Dude, Eddie, noooo!”
“Jesus, it’s like watching your parents make out, oh my god.”
“You guys, let’s just go already,”
“Yeah, I’ll take washing dishes over this,”
The grossed out teenagers whooshed past them. Grumbling and glaring--except Eleven, who smiled up at them sweetly--leaving Steve and Eddie standing in the living room, still wrapped up together.
It was too tempting then, with the kids safely out of range, for Eddie to resist the temptation to drop his kisses a little lower down Steve’s neck. To let them get a little less chaste. Just a little.
What can he say? He’s a weak man.
“That was evil,” Steve hummed. His shoulders dropped, though, relaxing into Eddie’s hold, the closest thing they’ve had to quiet all night settling in.
“Hey, I accomplished two things. Got them to chill out and I get the perk of feeling you up in the middle of sleepover night. It’s a win-win.”
A crash and a muffled argument broke out in the kitchen before Steve could respond to that.
The audible scuffling was cut off by Eddie calling out “Your ass looks great in these jeans tonight, Harrington!”
The fierce whispers and shushing were enough to get both of the older boys cackling loudly.

It was no wonder why Spencer had kept his family to himself. When he had faced killers like Cat Adams and Tobias Hankle, he knew what humans were capable of - if he dared to even compare them to anything humane. So, he made the decision when he met Y/n to forever keep her a secret from his work. And when they started growing a little family with two children, he kept them a secret too.
Sometimes it killed him inside. As much as he loved his team, risking the lives of his family just wasn't enough for him. He had lost his first love, had his mother held captive, he wasn't about to risk his family too. He had learnt from his past - at least he thought he had done.
"Morgan, hey, no, you can't-" Y/n called towards their seven year old daughter whose sticky fingers had grasped a hold of a copy of fifty shades of grade. When she thought taking the kids on a day trip out to the book store would be easy, she hadn't imagined her seven year old reading smut. "You can't read that." She scolded before placing the book back on its shelf.
The bushy-haired girl gazed up at her mother, "Why not?" She huffed.
Her arm wrapped around Jay, their more reserved, four (and a half) year old. "Because it's an adult book. When you're old enough, you can read it."
"I am old enough, Daddy said I've got an advanced reading age!" Of course, she did - she was the daughter of the guy who could read 20,000 words a minute. Not to mention, she was going through the 'I'm old enough to do what I want' phase.
"Ask me again when you're 18, how about that?" She suggested before the child wrapped at her torso and stared up at her.
"Will Dada be home?" He asked.
Jay always liked coming home from their day trips to find Spencer already there, his head deep in another book or a case file. But days like that were rare - as much as both the parents hated such. "Erm-" Before she could give her son an answer, her phone started to ring. "That should be him." She gave the boy a smile before pulling out her mobile and seeing Spencer's contact staring back at her.
The man, from the moment they made it official, had always made sure to call her at the end of his working day. Whether he was in a hotel somewhere in the country, on the jet or if he was simply in his car, travelling home. "Hey, Spence, you should hear what Morgan wants to read-"
She could barely finish her breath, "Where are you?" He asked, his tone ever so stern that it was already making her nervous.
"The bookstore down town." She answered, already glancing around like she suddenly felt as if she was being watched. "Why?"
The girl could hear his uneven breaths on the other side of the phone, "I- Shit-" That's when Y/n knew something was wrong - her husband never swore...ever. "Can you come to the office? With the kids, we need you here."
"The office? Spencer, what are you talking about? I thought they didn't know."
"Yeah, well something's changed." Her heart started beating so fast that she wondered if Jay would be able to feel it. "Please, I need to know you're all safe."
She nodded and gazed over at her two children whom were waiting to hear about what Daddy had told her. "We'll be right over," She assured.
"And Y/n," He spoke, "In your car, in the glove compartment, there's a pistol, please, take it." What the hell had happened? Spencer could barely use a gun himself, never mind her. "I put it in there just in case and, just keep it on you until you get here."
"Okay, yeah." She didn't like the idea but, if someone was threatening them, if someone was putting her and her children at risk, she would do whatever was needed.
"I'll see you soon." Spencer huffed, "I love you."
"I love you too."
And with that, she ended the call. Only a single exhale dared to leave her lips before she stood. "Is Dada home?" Jay nagged.
She scooped the boy up into her arms, "No, but we're gonna visit him at work, okay?" Jay didn't seem happy about the idea but she'd rather the boy be safe than happy. "Come on," With her free hand, she grasped Morgan's finger tips tightly. "We need to go."
She rushed her and the kids into her parked car outside, making sure to look over her shoulder. Once she was seated in the driver's seat with the engine running, her gaze glanced to the glove compartment. Y/n needed to. Her hand leaned over, pushing it open and finding the gun stuffed behind a thick car manual. She grasped it for a moment before placing it on the passangers seat for easy access.
From there, she didn't take her foot off the gas. She was usually an ulta-safe driver. But, tonight, everything was different.
When they arrived to the BAU, Y/n pressed the button for the sixth floor and waited for the doors to glide open. With two children at either side of her, she wandered into the office. Her eyes instantly searched for Spencer. Instead, a blonde, colourful girl came running over to them. Well, walking as fast as she could in her thick heels. Garcia, Y/n assumed.
"Oh, you must be the lovely Mrs Reid," She sighed in relief when she came face to face with Y/n.
She glanced her up and down; there was no way this was JJ or Emily. "Penelope, right?"
The girl almost seemed surprised, "You- you know me?"
Y/n's face softened ever so slightly, "Of course."
"Y/n!" Her head turned from Garcia to see Spencer jogging over to her. Once he was close enough, he instantly engulfed the girl into a tight hug. "You okay?" He asked before pulling away and hugging his two children.
She nodded, "Yeah, we're okay, don't worry." When Spencer stood from hugging his kids, he gazed back over at his wife. She had grasped her hand from the back hem of her jeans, pulling out the pistol he had made sure she take. "Here, I've no idea what I'm doing with it anyway." Spencer took the weapon from her before her expression turned stern, "Now, what the hell is going on?"
Spencer's eyes instantly glanced down at their children; they didn't need to hear this. "Morgan, Jay," He spoke ever so softly to them as he leaned down, "Why don't you go with Garcia, she'll show you all her funky toys?" He glanced back at Penelope who was gleaming with a smile as she offer a hand for each child.
"Oh, yeah! I've got unicorns, fairies, fluffy pens, everything." She gleamed, trying to hide her fear for the true reason Spencer's family had been bought into the BAU. Once the kids took the woman's hand she gave one last look at the couple, "Let me know if you need anything."
The boy nodded before Garcia began leading the children towards her cave, "Someone- someone found you." He started to explain as he interlocked his hand with her, guiding the two over towards the conference room where the rest of the team were waiting. "I don't know how and I don't know who but- but around 30 minutes ago I had email to my work address. There's photos, almost a months worth."
Her brows narrowed at him, "Of what?"
"Of you."
Oh god. Despite all the effort the two had put in to keep their family personal, someone had still connected her and the kids to Spencer. And for whatever reason, they had become a target.
Spencer opened the door to the conference room, where the team were waiting. Most of them sat at the round table where they had several files and papers scattered in front of them. But at the entrance of Reid and his secret wife, they each turned. She offered them a weak smile before the man, whom she assumed was Hotch, spoke up, "Sadly we don't have much time for small talk, but we all want to help." He stood over towards Y/n and offered her his hand, "Aaron Hotchner."
She shook his hand, "Hotch, I should have known." And then she glanced around the table at the rest of the agents. Without hesitation, she named them all, "JJ, Emily, Rossi and Morgan." She smiled at each of them. "Spencer talks about you all a lot."
The boy next to her grinned every so slightly. "I wish we could have met differently." Morgan offered as he stood up, "Take a seat, we'll run you through what we know."
Y/n followed Spencer as the two sat at the round table and the tv screen in front of them started filling with papazzi-style photographs of the woman. Her grocery shopping, her at a bar with some friends, and even one from this morning: hand in hand with Jay as she led the two children into the bookstore they adored.
"You said this has been going on for a month?" How could that have been the case and she had no idea?
Hotch nodded, "We believe so yes."
"Who would want to do this?" She questioned; she wasn't exactly an interesting person. She had a normal life - as the pictures had proven.
Spencer took her hand, "We erm, we're not sure yet. We have one theory."
The tv screen clicked onto another slide. A woman's face filled the screen. A woman whom Y/n had heard far too much about: Cat Adams. "We know Adams has an obsession with Reid, and well, we know she likes to target his personal life," JJ informed as Y/n recalled the days in which Diana had been held captive. "If she somehow found out about you, it would have set her off."
"But she's in prison." Y/n pointed out.
Emily shrugged, "She was in prison when she found Reid's mother. She's- She's a master manipulator and ever since Reid first encountered her, he was the first man to challenge her." All of which Y/n already knew.
"If you really think it's her then-" Her eyes gazed over at Spencer, filled with worry, "You're going to have to talk to her aren't you?" It wasn't a question; she knew it.
Spencer sucked in a breath before he dared to nod.
It didn't take them long. Before Y/n realised it, she was watching out the window of the conference room as two prison guards held Cat by either one of her arms. She was smiling- no, she was smirking. She knew exactly what she was doing. Her eyes gazed around the office until she was forced into an interrogation room.
All they needed to know was who her contact was. Once they had a name, they could find them and put whoever that was in prison too.
Y/n stood next to Spencer as they stared at the woman through the double-sided mirror. "If she's done all this to get to you, why are we letting her talk to you?" The girl questioned.
"She always slips up in front of Reid." Emily answered - despite how much they all hated the idea.
Rossi was the first to pose another opinion, "What if we give her something she isn't expecting?" He suggested, "What if we don't give her Reid?" Surely, if the team sent in someone Cat Adams didn't expect, then maybe she would slip up just as easily - if not more so.
The older man shared a glance with Emily. A glance of which allowed them to silently suggest something; the two had an idea that wasn't yet shared with the rest of the group. It wasn't until Emily's eyes landed on Y/n that they started to understand what the two were thinking, "What if- What if we sent Y/n in?"
The girl scoffed; that must have been a joke. "You're kidding, right?" She laughed. "I mean, I'm not- I'm an agent. I'm a normal person. I can't talk to a criminal!"
"That's exactly what we need," Spencer spoke aloud without even realising, "She's expecting me, she's expecting FBI, send in someone different and it might just make her slip." Spencer turned to face Y/n, one hand gently cupping her cheek as he spoke, "Especially if we send in the very girl she's jealous of."
Y/n's head shook; she couldn't. She was with Spencer, but she wasn't a part of his world, "I can't."
"You can," His voice soothed, "You can do anything."
"We'll be right here," Emily assured.
Y/n glanced back at the window, at the criminal who had targetted her. If this was their best shot, then she might have to take it. Her family was at risk for goodness sake. Once they figured out who  her partner on the otherside, all this would be over. The girl sighed, "Fine," She finally agreed. "But if anything happens, if she does anything, please-"
Spencer was already nodding, "We'll get you out of there, don't worry." He promised.
His hands fell from her skin before she glanced between the other two agents, "How do I do  this then?" She asked.
"Go in there, vague questions, act better than she is, because you are," Emily mentored, "We need to figure out how she's orchestrated this."
With those instructions, the girl nodded and Rossi handed her the file. The one of which was filled with the stalker photos of herself and the kids, "See what happens if you show her these too, it might tell us a lot." He explained.
And with that, with that grace of a nod, a peck to Spencer's lips, the girl headed into the interrogation room.
Cat Adams was nonchalant. She had learnt a lot. She had learnt the best way to not let BAU agents know what she was thinking. But sending Y/n in certainly hadn't been what she expected.
The girl swallowed as she took the seat across from Cat with a very weak smile. She gazed up at the woman who had suddenly grown a sickly smile which made Y/n become nervous. She wanted to leave already, "Hi," Cat shrugged her shoulders and gazed softly at Y/n.
But the other girl was staring back with narrowed eyes, "Do you know who I am?" She questioned.
Cat leaned back and shrugged, letting out nothing but a hum. So Y/n leaned forward and placed one of the photos in front of the girl. It was just of her - no Jay or Morgan present. Just her, exiting her car as she headed to the store, "So you don't recognise this?".
She barely glanced at it, "Should I?"
"You know Doctor Reid though, don't you?"
Instantly, her demeanour shifted. But she desperately tried to hide it, "Bumped into him...sure." She shrugged it off.
Y/n thought for a moment before raising her left hand, wiggling her ring finger to show off her wedding ring to the girl, "Yeah well, I know him quite well." She said, watching as Cat's smile completely dissipated, "And he, well, he sort of mentioned you. I mean I sort of remember your name...remind me again? Carol? Cath-?"
"Cat." She cut in.
The girl faked a shock of realisation; this was exactly what Emily had asked: make herself look better than Cat.  "And you don't know me?" She glanced back to her wedding ring, "Wife." She spoke.
The girl huffed and smiled to herself like something was funny, "Yeah, good luck with that."
Y/n glared back at her, tilting her head. The words from Emily echoed through her mind. "And what do you mean by that?"
Cat doesn't want to answer that. More specifically, she doesn't want to answer Y/n. "He- he's complicated, I'm sure you're aware right? Girlfriend died, no dad around, mum got kidnapped, and well, god knows everything that's happened to his team." She almost finds it funny.
Y/n leaned her elbows against the metal table, "And you were the very person who took his mother. I know you, Cat. I know all you want is to win against my husband but tough luck, it's not going to happen." The girl tried to keep up her straight face but when facing Cat Adams, it seemed to be proving difficult.
She shrugged, "Maybe not before, but now I have you." Her eyes narrowed and suddenly Y/n grew nervous; she was behind this. All of it. "And of course, you two little munchkins." Her shoulders squeezed and she smiled sickly.
"So you do know them."
"I know everything."
A shiver flew down her spine. She was behind all of this. And Y/n couldn't help but ask: "And what do you want?" Y/n had some idea. This had nothing to do with her or the kids; it was all about getting back at Spencer.
She giggled, "Well there would be no fun in telling you, would there?"
"You can't do this myself yourself," Y/n stated. Once they had the name of whoever it was on the outside, they could get over this: they could move on.
The girl on the other side of the metal table simply shrugged, "Who says I am?" And like that, it was confirmed. Not only the fact that she was behind this, but that she had partner and the outsider. And that was all they needed  - for now, anyway.
With narrowed eyes, Y/n glared at the girl and started to stand from the chair. She didn't need anything else. She took a breath before turning her back, "You might want to look over your shoulder." Cat taunted.
Something of which, the girl had ignored as she continued out of the interrogation room. An exhale fell from her lips as she found herself back in the company of people she trusted. Of people she knew...with Spencer.
His hand instantly reached at her waist, pulling her close. The feeling of her skin at his releasing a relief she couldn't stop. He was safe. He was loving. He was her husband, "Are you okay?" He questioned before anyone else had the chance to speak.
The girl nodded but gave no words. What was she meant to say after a face to face with Cat Adams? "She's definitely behind this," Emily confirmed.
"She's working with someone too," Y/n added as she eased into the familiar feeling of Spencer.
"So now we know that," Y/n started as she gazed between the three agents, "What do we do now?"
"Now," Answered Rossi, "We get Garcia."
And so the group of them wandered over from the interrogation room and headed to what they called Garcia's 'cave'. And safe tp say was. No windows, just a lot of screens and several different sparkly things. Plush teddies, framed stock photos of puppies and a slingy which Jay was playing with.
"Hi," Y/n gleamed as she greeted her kids once more, "You two been good for Garcia?"
The woman stood from her chair, "They're angels," She smiled.
"We need your help now," Spencer said as they quickly entered back into the situation at hand. They didn't have time for small talk.
"Of course, anything."
And so she sat back at her chair as Spencer came to her side, beginning to list the profile they had started, "Look for names that pop up in the guest book of the hotel Montana, it's the building next to our house." Spencer informed and Garcia became manically typing. "They'll have been a guest for at least a month, cross check that with anyone from Cat's old life, work, college, high school, anything-"
"Nothing."
"What if- I mean surely whoever this person is would be using an alias," Y/n suggested.
A theory of which Spencer agreed with, "Bring up a photo of the guests who have stayed for a month."
Garcia followed: there were three. As they scrolled through high school pictures and then college- "There!"
A photo matched. A woman, same age as Cat, sickly sweet smile, fire red hair and geeky glasses. And then the name: Amy Duke. They had a name. They had everything Garcia could find. "That's got to be her," Emily confirmed.
"Garcia, send us everything." And like that, everything was go-go-go.
Y/n barely had a chance to speak before her hand was reaching out to stop Spencer from running off, "Hey," She called.
His hands cupped at her cheeks, "It'll be alright, I promise." He gave a smile which could ease her nervous a million times over. "Go home, I'll be there soon."
And like that, he was gone.
Y/n said her goodbyes to Garcia before taking her kids hand in hand and heading for the exit. She tried to not think about what Spencer was doing, about the woman he was facing. It was all too overwhelming. Instead, she focused on feeding her kids and getting them dressed for bed. It was horrible when they asked about where Daddy was - if he was coming home. All she could tell them was that it was going to be fine...even if she wasn't so sure of such herself.
She perched at the end of Morgan's bed, her door open, giving the woman a view of a sleeping Jay in the room across the hall. She didn't dare to leave her children when there was danger still looming over them. The girl watched as her daughter's chest rose and fell with her breaths. And after what felt like hours, the front door rustled open.
Y/n became alert, she flew up to her feet and wandered carefully out of Morgan's room. She lingered at the top of the stairs; what if it wasn't her husband? "Spence?" She called, worrisome.
He was already rushing up the stairs at the sound of her voice, "Hey, it's me don't worry." He met her at the top of the landing, engulfing his body around her. "It's over, I swear, she's been arrested, Cat is back in prison." Relief flooded her. "It's all over."
Her head gazed up at him, a slight grin brushing over her lips, "What a way to meet your second family, hey?" She giggled. And while the day had been horrid, there was some good out of it - she wasn't a secret anymore.

okay so hi! i wanted to send in a lil jj and rafe prompt myself for the kook princess.
so i lowkey think that she gets tired of the beefing one day and she’s just all upset because she doesn’t know what to do or who to chose in this whole situation, so she just pulls a “if i can’t have you both i don’t want either of you” which was hard enough for her to do anyway because let’s be so real standing on business with RAFE & JJ is hell in itself. so she like really stands on business doesn’t come around either of them avoiding parties the whole nine until she ends up needing to go to midsommars or something kinda much like kie in season one her parents are making her go, so word gets around fast that she’s going because people haven’t seen her in a while and jj leaps on the opportunity to work with pope & heyward, so he can see her and obviously rafe is gonna be there regardless. she doesn’t come until late which gave rafe and jj enough time to at least come to a certain level of an agreement, she still avoids them all night staying with her parents and drifting to sarah whenever she got the opportunity. so she finally ends up going to the bathroom and they basically corner her (teamwork 🤣) and they talk to her and they both end up fucking her in the stall.
this!!!!! this is perfect. i never brought the two of them together bc i just thought it was too unlikely because they really don’t like eachother — but if they’re kinda forced together by reader giving them no other choice it seems more likely.
˚ ༘ ೀ⋆𓆩ꨄ︎𓆪
jj practically jumps you in the corridor, appearing frantically infront of you in his lil waiter get up and starts dragging you to the bathroom.
“jj, no — i already told you—”
“just five minutes just — just hear me out for five minutes okay — c’mon, in you go, chop chop.” he pushes you into the bathroom before turning round and blinking at passersby who worriedly witnessed the low level kidnap. “nothin’ to see here alright just, carry on…” he excuses awkwardly before closing the door.
upon entering, to your surprise rafe is stood in the centre of the room with his hands in his pockets and lips pursed like he was forced to be there too. he perks up a little on your entry, eyeing you over. he speaks your name and you glance between the two boys nervously.
“damn, you— you look really beautiful i mean—” rafe begins as he edges towards you and you all but nearly stomp your foot, pointing to him with an angry pout.
“don’t!”
the oldest boy holds his hands up, slowing his pace as he approaches you, showing he comes in peace. “alright, alright… look we… just wanted to talk to you. ‘that okay?”
your eyes slide over to jj, who’s gazing at you with this desperate plea that makes you soften a little. you cross your arms and nod, and naturally the boys close in on you, shielding you from the rest of the room.
“trust me, okay— the last thing i wanna do is share you with rafe freaking cameron but,” the blonde runs a hand through his hair frustratedly as the cameron rolls his eyes. “you went goddamn… radio silent on us and i was worried, okay? are you seeing the level of concern you caused right now? ‘cus i’m standing next to rafe and my hands aren’t around his neck—”
“yeah like you could reach, buddy.”
“i’m like three inches shorter than you asshole i’on even wanna hear it right now ‘cus—”
“guys.” you interject sulkily, huffing a sigh out your nose.
“sorry, sorry— yes, so uh— to cut this thing short, maybe until you like, make a decision or whatever… we can alternate weeks with you?”
you gaze up at them from beneath your lashes unsurely. “like… you get me this week rafe gets me next week… and so on?”
“yeah i’m not thrilled about this guy gettin’ you at all but i’ll… i’ll take it.” rafe scuffs his shoe on the floor, uncharacteristically bashfully.
you think, and honestly as it was the best case scenario you nod, gaze flickering between the two of them.
“okay… just… want you both. missed you.” you don’t know who to look at, so you cement your stare to your shoes. there’s some shuffling of feet through the tense silence before you feel a pair of fingers gripping your jaw lightly, tilting your head up to them.
“look… why don’t you uh, why don’t you give maybank here a little kiss. alright? i’m— i’m actively showin’ you i’m cool with it.”
even jj’s brows lift in surprise, licking over his rubied lips as he watches you for permission. you let rafe’s hand drag you closer, before bringing your mouth to jj’s, locking lips. rafe’s hand switches to cup the back of your head, supposedly feeling this was the most control he could have in the situation. his eyes flutter in irritation as he watches jj slip you tongue and after a moment he pulls you back, immediately bringing your mouth to his— to kiss you sloppier and dirtier than the blonde.
jj’s eyes roll, licking over his lips once more. “jesus, dude — okay.”
you let out a pleased moan after a moment, just happy to have your favourite boys back with you, this time together — and rafe tugs you back with a smug smirk. you watch his eyes flutter up to the cubicle behind you, before his gaze moves to jj.
“get the door, yeah busboy?” he slaps jj on the back, and with his tongue in his cheek — he pushes the cubicle door open for the three of you to fit inside.
“watch it, douche.” he glares as rafe leads you in. it’s a squeeze, but it’ll do for now. the competitive nature in them both was flared up to ten, set on using this time as a way to prove themselves to you.

Could you please write some headcanons of Sebastian, Ominis, Garreth, and Amit with a gn!reader who is obsessed with all the clothes they find while exploring. Their outfit changes every other day and are constantly showing them scarves, robes, outfits, etc. that they love. This is all in response to me while playing HL and seeing the outfit you get from finding all the house tokens. Thank you 😁
Fashion icon!! ✨
The boys and how they react to your wacky and questionable (yet somehow very stylish) clothing choices! Pairings: Could be considered an x reader since I use the term "you" but read it however you want!!🥰
This is such a cute idea and I had such a fun time writing it! Thank you for requesting!
Tumblr media
Sebastian:
Okay, so he thinks it’s a little odd at first.
Because you went from wearing your school uniform every day to all these wacky and “bold” fashion statements as if it were nothing.
It started off with things like that and then it went to glasses. And now it’s full-blown mismatched yet stylish outfits.
“Where in Merlin’s name are you finding all of these things?” Sebastian would ask. He was completely puzzled.
And of course, you were happy to answer!
“I got this in Irondale—Oh and this one is from a random chest in the middle of the forbidden forest!” You’d explain happily.
“Oh, and this one I got from your neighbor's house in Feldcroft.”
“What??”
“Forget I said anything about that.”
But soon, he looks forward to seeing what wacky combination of clothing you decide to wear. It makes showing up to his first class a lot more interesting and a lot more fun.
Ominis:
Obviously, since he can’t see, he doesn’t know about all your outrageous fashion choices.
But, regardless of the fact that he can’t see. Ominis is a man of fashion. He likes to keep clean, he likes his clothes to match, and the colors to coordinate.
So when he hears from Sebastian that you keep showing up to class wearing some “interesting” items together, he’s a bit curious.
He usually likes to “see” through touch, so he runs his hands down the materials of your clothing.
“W-What is this? What even is this? Where did you get it?”
You shrugged. “Just found it while running around.”
“Do these colors even match? I have a feeling they don’t match.” He said, his brows furrowing. “Does it look atrocious? Please say it doesn’t.”
His hands make their way up towards his face and he accidentally pricks his fingers on the spiky “lizard-like” glasses you decided to wear. “What is this– OW! What are you even wearing??”
This obviously sends you into an absolute fit of giggles before you apologize for not telling him about that before.
Even though he highly questions your taste in fashion, he really is just glad you enjoy what you’re doing.
Garreth:
Garreth is a goofy guy, we all know this.
It pretty much comes with the Weasley name.
So when he sees you walking in with the most wacky, mismatched, laugh-inducing outfit, he busts out laughing. Obnoxiously loud.
He takes great joy in seeing what you’re wearing every day. He knows you’re obsessed with all of the items you find and therefore, he’s obsessed with them too.
You’ll tell him every item that's your favorite or tell him about a new one you found in some random place.
(Although he didn’t want to hear about the one you found in the Forbidden Forest near the spider caves. That he could miss out on)
And before he knows it, suddenly he’s sitting in class, wearing your wacky lizard glasses that you had just put on him, stifling a laugh.
Professor Ronen gets a laugh out of it. He loves seeing his students have fun and get along so well.
Professor Sharp, however, just looks down and shakes his head. But in all honesty, he thinks it's rather silly.
But Garreth is 100% invested in this and 100% unashamed.
Amit:
Well, needless to say, he is very confused.
Where do you keep getting these things?? Why the interesting pairings?? Do you do it on purpose or did your parents never teach you how to dress? He really doesn’t know and he’s just trying to come up with a logical explanation to it like he always does.
He finally works up the courage to ask and you just say that you really like dressing up like this. And you say it with a big smile on your face.
And that’s when he finally understands that you just really enjoy doing stuff like this!
And suddenly, it all just makes sense. And obviously, if it makes you happy, he wants you to know he’s interested in it.
He’ll ask you random but oddly specific questions about what you’re wearing, or where you got them, and he’ll sit and listen to every story you tell about how you found each item.
(Bro is in LOVE love but that’s a topic for later)
It’s quite the stark contrast to see him all neat with his clean school uniform then you sitting next to him in a tattered, old pointy hat, wacky glasses, and an outfit adorned with a clashing scarf.
But hey, it makes you happy. Therefore it makes him happy.

Can I please request for yandere todoroki who at first was very cold and distant to you because he was unhappy with you and his quirk marriage courtesy of Endeavor. The reader tries to get along with him even making him cold soba and bringing it to him during his patrols. But todoroki remains stubbornly coldly ignoring the reader. One day the reader finally has enough and decides to just destroy the quirk marriage contract and leave for the countryside leaving everyone including Todoroki behind. Todoroki then starts to slowly fall for the reader now missing how the reader took care of him and cooked his favorite meals, he also starts to view The reader in as their own person without being clouded by his judgment. Todoroki then turns yandere out of shear yearning for you, he has recognized his mistakes and wants to make things right no matter the consequences, he will have you back and continue on with the marriage.
-Thank you for reading my request. I really love your writing especially the yandere cheater ones, they’re my favorite.
Thank you! And I’ll be glad to write this! ^-^

Title: Is It a Crime
Pairings: Todoroki Shoto x Reader
WARNINGS: Yandere themes
Summary: Shoto isn’t fond of the quirk marriage his dad has arranged. At least, he didn’t think so at first.
Part 2: here
“Is it a crime
That I still want you?
And I want you to want me too
My love is wider, wider than Victoria Lake
My love is taller, taller than the Empire State
It dives, it jumps, and it ripples like the deepest ocean
I can't give you more than that, surely, you want me back”
-from “Is It a Crime” by Sade
“Cold soba, just how you like it,” you try your best to smile warmly, but the glare he sends you is as cold as the dish you try handing to him.
“I’m not hungry.”
Your smile falters a little, you had hoped that your cooking would get through to him. Wasn’t the fastest way to a man’s heart through his stomach?
Shoto resumes scrolling on his phone, indifferent to the sad look you give him. Your heart gives a painful tug in your chest- what were you supposed to do to get him to like you?
It wasn’t like you particularly wanted in this marriage either.
Your parents had left the final choice up to you, claiming that they’d be fine without the money, when you knew it was the opposite. They were too elderly to work and you couldn’t get a second job while in college to support them.
Endeavor had swooped in, offering to support your parents as long as you were married to Shoto. Evidently, he was drawn in by your powerful healing quirk, and could picture strong grandchildren that could use ice, fire, and heal themselves.
In order to give you and your parents security, you entered into the agreement, assuming Endeavor’s son was okay with the contract.
You were wrong.
Shoto seemed to hate you more and more with each passing day. He’d made it clear from day one what he thought of your marriage.
“I want nothing to do with the marriage, nor you. I will never love nor care for you like a husband should. Give up and go home.”
You were determined to continue the forced relationship, not willing to easily give up the life your parents would be supported by. Yet, no progress was made towards wedding plans nor any discussion of life after marriage.
Endeavor wasn’t pushy about when a wedding should be set, telling you that Shoto was “needlessly stubborn about things”. But you’d begun to worry that maybe he would never come around to the idea of loving you.
And, really, how could you expect that of him? It wasn’t fair to suddenly come into someone’s life and wait for them to love you like a husband loves his wife.
You retreated to the kitchen to deal with your thoughts, putting the soba in the refrigerator in case Shoto got hungry. You thought over what you should do, a little bored with the housewife position you’d been put in. Shoto was a pro hero, Endeavor one as well- you had no reason to even continue college. The two of them each had enough money right now to live off of three times over.
You were ready to hang on as long as it took.
Until you overheard Shoto on the phone.
“She’s annoying. Not my type at all. I could never love anyone like her, even without this quirk marriage nonsense my father is forcing on me.”
You felt tears pricking your eyes. He’d never, ever like you, would he? This was just a waste of time, until Endeavor either forced you into a wedding that made Shoto despise you even more, or canceled your contract for you.
You went straight to the number one hero himself, heart pounding in your chest as you approached his office and knocked quietly on the door. A moment later, you stood before him, those tears from earlier finally falling.
“Shoto will never love me. I think it’d be best for both of us if we… just… went our separate ways.” Your voice quavered, and your eyes closed tightly for the finish.
Endeavor sat back in his chair, obviously surprised, “But your parents-”
“I can quit college and get a second job.”
Endeavor blinked and, after an eternity, pressed on, “My son is stubborn, he has rebelled against me before. You should not take it personally.”
You considered his words. Perhaps Shoto didn’t hate you, just the arranged marriage. But then you remembered his words over the phone and started to cry all over again.
“No… no. I’m sure. I want to cancel the marriage. I’m sorry.”
Endeavor nodded, “I understand.”
Shoto woke up in a bad mood and it only worsened when he didn’t see you in the kitchen, making him breakfast. You always made him breakfast, so why not today? Were you sick?
He checked the fridge and found the cold soba from yesterday. Not exactly a proper breakfast, but it would do.
Sour expression on his face, he wondered why you weren’t awake, bustling around like a happy tornado, cleaning every surface like you had a grudge against it. Maybe you really were sick. He spooned soba into his mouth, debating whether or not to check on you.
Against his better judgment, he walked over to your room and knocked sharply on it. He gave an exasperated sigh when there was no response and opened the door, only to find… nothing. No clothes, no knick knacks, nothing that made the room uniquely you, like it had once been.
His heart sank in his chest and he leaned against the door, head hanging down as his thoughts raced. Wasn’t he supposed to be happy? Thrilled, even? This meant that the quirk marriage was over, right?
So why did he feel crushed?
Shoto stormed into his father’s office without knocking. “Where is she?”
Endeavor looked up from his paperwork, surprised. “Gone. The marriage is off.”
The younger man left, a hole deep in his heart where you had once been. He hadn’t realized it, so focused on hating you, but he couldn’t live without you. He felt like he was panicking, his breath was coming fast and heavy, his mind clouded with thoughts of you.
He knew where you lived, he’d been there once before to meet you. It wasn’t a far walk, and he’d be running.
He could be there in ten minutes. He was positive he could convince you to sign the contract again.
It was time to bring his bride back home.

"Stolas is a worse dad than Blitz, because when Stolas was about to die he chose Loona over him."
The situations were completely different, you can't actually compare them in that way.
1) In Western Energy, Blitz was going to go save Stolas, but was able to send Moxxie and Millie instead, freeing him up to stay with Loona.
In Mastermind, Blitz was in imminent danger. As in, by the time Stolas saw what was happening there was only about a minute until Blitz was going to be decapitated. There was no one to send in his place and no one else could've gotten there in time even if there was.
2) Loona had a hospital appointment she couldn't go to on her own due to her extreme phobia of needles, and it would have been years before she could get it again if she missed it (unless Stolas pulled some strings).
Octavia was not in danger and had no pressing need for Stolas to be by her side. He was also implied to have set things up so that, should he die before she's legally an adult, she'd still be well off and protected to the best of his abilities. She'd be heartbroken, yes, but her assets and future would be secure. (It's no substitute for a loving parent, of course, but it'd allow her some freedom to do as she pleased, like not being forced to marry someone against her will.)
3) Fighting Striker wouldn't be, and wasn't, a sure death sentence. He's good at what he does, but he's just one guy who can be fought.
Stolas didn't have the time or knowledge to come up with a good defense, and even if he did the court wouldn't have cared, because they were bored, hungry, and don't care enough about imps, due process, or doling out real justice to be bothered listening to a nerdy bird attempt to be a lawyer for some uppity imp trying to rise above his station. Putting all of the blame on himself and making a big, flashy production about how he's some cunning manipulator who thinks he's above the law and Blitz is just a worthless pawn to force them to pay attention to him was his only real option if he wanted Blitz to make it out alive.
And even if Stolas did let Blitz die, then he undoubtedly would have spiraled into an even deeper depression, riddled with guilt, grief, and self-loathing. Because that's what happens when you have precarious mental health and watch the love of your life be executed, knowing you could maybe have done something to stop it, but didn't even try. Which, you know, also would have hurt Octavia, because it's not easy seeing your parent in that state. Neither choice would have spared Octavia the pain of losing her father, at least temporarily, and people would still be calling him a bad dad for letting his mental illness affect his relationship with her.
Also, did people not see the way Blitz was begging Stolas not to take the fall for him? He absolutely would have re-taken his place on the chopping block if it meant Stolas didn't have to die. Then Loona would be down her only parent, with Blitz actively choosing Stolas first, because Stolas was seemingly about to die and M&M had already promised to take care of her. You know, exactly like Stolas in this episode.
Blitz would have been in the same sinking mental health boat if Stolas died, as well, except he did try to save him (or more accurately, get him to save himself) it was just entirely fruitless. The man nearly ran his company into the ground because they broke up, he'd fall completely apart if another person he loves died "because of" him (in his eyes), this time without even knowing that Blitz loves him.
When push came to shove, when someone they love was about to die right in front of them and they felt secure with the knowledge that their child would be okay without them (eventually), they both attempted to sacrifice themselves instead. And they both would have been inconsolable wrecks if the other had actually died. There were no good options, they were just trying to make it so that everyone they loved made it out alive, even though putting themselves in the line of fire was the only realistic way of doing that.

How to Become a Step-Dad in 5 Easy Steps: part 1
Jason meets Single Dad Danny who is taking care of a de-aged Dani while trying to get his degree at Gotham U. Both of them fall hard, hijinks and shenanigans ensue, simping on both sides.
Edit: background info/lore found here
Edit: part 2 now found here
~~~~
Step 1: Meet an attractive single parent
As a Crime Lord/vigilante Red Hood had multiple safe houses that he used in and out of the mask. Some were for each exclusive identity to prevent anyone from linking them together and others used for both. Currently, Jason was walking out of his 2nd favorite safe house and the mostly permanent residence of “civilian and non-profit worker: Jason Todd” with a plate of cookies and a pan full of lasagna for his new neighbors that moved in two doors down. He may have been a street rat but he’d be damned if Alfred and Talia hadn’t taught him hospitality (it was a fact of life that grandparents and Asian people would try to feed their guests like their honor depended on it). Plus it was a great way to do some reconnaissance on whether or not these new neighbors could potentially pose an issue. The apartment complex was on the border of Crime Alley and Burnley meaning the people who lived there weren’t doing too hot money-wise but were at least able to avoid the worst of Crime Alley. Jason was just planning to go over introduce himself, hand over the homemade food, and head off to a different safe house to get his gear and patrol. However, he was not expecting to see his new neighbor standing outside struggling to open his own door, a six-year-old on his hip, arguing with someone over the phone. The young man had a lean build and appeared to be no older than 20, give or take a year or two. He had black bangs that cast a shadow on his face making his eye-bags appear even darker and startling blue eyes clouded with anger and resentment, likely towards whoever was on the phone. He was so occupied with his conversation he didn’t seem to notice that someone else had stepped into the hallway. He was wearing dark blue jeans and a loose white shirt with a NASA logo on it that slightly hung off his shoulder. He also wore a black hoodie with a white hood and neon green accents that seemed to be subject to his sister(?)’s death grip. Despite his disheveled state, there was something about his new neighbor that drew him in. His aura washed over Jason like a cool breeze on a hot day making it hard for Jason to look away. He would have continued assessing the man if he hadn’t made eye contact with the identical blue eyes of the young girl perched on his hip, who looked at him with a curious sparkle in her eyes. He discreetly turned back around to lock his own door, trying to eavesdrop on the conversation the elder (brother?) seemed to be having. It could provide some info on these new neighbors.
“-shut up Vlad! I’m not moving into your rich guy penthouse! I wouldn’t be taking any of your shady money if I didn’t need child support for Ellie!”
Huh. So her dad/guardian then?
“ Of course I have to do this Vald! What’s the other option, sending her back to a Frootloop like you?! … I’m not going to abandon Ellie for something that wasn’t her choice. She didn’t ask to be created Vlad that’s why she gets a chance.”
Okay so setting aside the rather concerning parts New Neighbor Guy™️ was definitely that child’s parent. Seems fairly rational as well.
“How do I know you’d be a terrible guardian? Plenty of reasons, do you want the list chronologically or alphabetized! You violated me, who you said you wanted to adopt despite me having two living parents, you created Ellie and several other failed attempts without my knowledge, you hid her from me, you tried to teach her to hate me before we even met, you named her Danielle after me instead of giving her her own identity, the list goes on and on Vlad! Do you want me to continue because that’s just the stuff that involves Ellie— I was 14, you middle-aged vampire look-alike! Of course I wasn’t jumping at the chance to become a teen dad! I was a freshman in high school! Besides you know what my parents are like, lab safety regulations were more like a healthy suggestion to them. I was in no position to be taking care of a child!”
Rage flashed in Jason’s eyes as he tightened his grip on his glass Tupperware pan full of lasagna. This conversation was not painting a pretty picture about his neighbor’s situation. He took a deep breath trying to calm himself before belatedly realizing his neighbor had gotten real quiet. He turned around, catching the tail end of his neighbor’s conversation as he finally succeeded in opening the door.
“Whatever Vlad, just keep paying your child support and for Ancients’ sake please stop trying to date my mom. …. Yeah, yeah screw you too Count Chocula.”
The neighbor set his daughter down, likely so she could enter the apartment, and slipped his phone from between his head and shoulder into his hand to hang up on that Vlad guy. Now seemed like as good a time as any to approach. Jason walked up the the young man and coughed trying to get his attention. The young man met Jason’s eyes with a somewhat surprised look. As if he wasn’t unaware of Jason’s presence but hadn’t expected him to talk to him. Jason decided he should start speaking now before things got too awkward.
“Uh- Hi, I’m Jason. I live a few doors down in 357,” he said glancing at the 353 on his neighbors’ door before he continued. “I heard you moving in a few days ago and thought I’d swing by with some food to welcome you to the building.” He stuck out his hand for the other to shake.
“Hi I’m Danny, Danny Nightingale,” he said taking Jason’s hand and ‘Wow his hands are cold’, “ and this little munchkin here is Ellie!” Danny and Ellie flashed him matching smiles like twin suns making Jason's heart melt. He returned their smiles before extending the food to Danny.
“ I don’t know if you’ve had time to get groceries yet but here’s some homemade lasagna if you need a quick meal while you’re getting settled,” he then crouched down to Ellie’s level and stage-whispered in her ear conspiratorially “ and there are some chocolate chip cookies on that plate too.”
Ellie giggled out a thank and threw her arms around Jason’s neck, giving him a quick hug before letting go and dashing into the apartment. Jason watched her go, stunned but feeling warm and fuzzy inside. He turned his attention back to Danny, who shook his head and huffed amusedly. They made eye contact as Jason rose and realized he was a head taller than the guy. He felt the heat expanding in his chest and crawling up his neck, curling behind his ears. He decided now that Ellie had gone in it would be a good time to talk to Danny about what he overheard.
“ So it really wasn’t my intention to do so but I overheard some of that conversation you were having over the phone earlier,” he watched Danny’s smile drop a bit as he winced. Jason awkwardly brought up his hand to scratch the back of his neck and continued.
“ Look I don’t wanna insert myself into your situation but if you ever need help I’m just a few doors down. And if that guy gets pushy or stops sending his child support I can help you find a couple of avenues you can take. Plus, although we’re technically outside Red Hood’s territory I’m sure he wouldn’t mind extending protection over you like he does for the other Crime Alley folk if ya really need it.”
Danny’s face smoothed out looking a bit flushed and appreciative as he went on. He gave Jason a small smile and replied, “ Thank you for the offer. I really do appreciate it. Might just take ya up on it at some point. As for Red Hood? I think I’ll avoid needing the protection of a crime boss vigilante if I can help it. Don’t worry too much about Vlad though. I’ve got him handled currently and he’ll behave if he knows what’s good for him!” Danny smiled threateningly towards the end of his reassurance. (‘His canines are peaking out that’s so cute’)
Jason chuckled with Danny as their eyes locked once more. They stayed lost in each others’ eyes for what seemed like hours before they heard a thump followed by a small “oof” coming from inside the apartment. Danny turned to the door and called out to Ellie,
“Ellie, what was that? Are you okay”
“I’m fine! My shirt just fell!”
“That sounded heavier than a shirt?”
“I was in it!”
Danny sighed, shaking his head before turning to Jason once more.
“Thank you again for the food, any chance you’d like to come in and have something to drink?”
“Thanks for the offer but I’ll have to decline. I need to start heading out for work.”
“Well then, I shouldn’t keep you. I’d hate to make you late for work.” He waved goodbye as Jason nodded his head and started walking down the hall.
His neighbors seemed entirely harmless he decided as he walked away. ‘The kid was cute’ he thought to himself. A smaller voice from the back of his head that sounded vaguely like the Pits chimed in ‘Her dad was even cuter.’
~~~~~ Please let me know what you guys think and if you want to see more of this. I thrive on feedback so feel free to leave any notes or comments!

Jason and Bruce's first encounter in Batman #408 is blatantly mischaracterized so often that I have to do a double take every time I see anyone talking about it. I would like to say before I get into this that there's nothing wrong with disregarding canon, but you gotta know what you're disregarding or you just completely ignore the important character dynamics that are set up.
First of all, Bruce didn't see Jason stealing his tires and say "oh yeah, I'm adopting this kid." Yes, he did think it was funny and end up getting invested in Jason's life, but he had no intention to adopt or even interact with Jason again. He sends Jason to Ma Gunn's school, hoping that Jason can get an actual education and have a successful life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
People like to claim that Bruce was just lonely after Dick left and so he replaced him with the first kid he saw, and if you assume that Bruce just grabbed Jason off the streets after their first meeting, that seems pretty damning. but he DIDNT. he didn't initially want to make Jason Robin, he just wanted Jason to have a good life and get out of Crime Alley. (don't get me wrong, I still think it's fucked up that he made Jason Robin and failed to communicate with him about what that really meant and made him feel like he had to live up to Dick perfectly, but if we're gonna critiquing Bruce, we're gonna do it accurately.) He didn't even plan on interacting with Jason again in any meaningful way until he finds out that Jason isn't going to Ma Gunn's, and Jason explains that it's not a real school.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And after that he STILL doesn't make any decisions. It's not until after Jason tries to stop the heist at the museum completely separately from Batman that Bruce even takes in Jason himself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And yeah, I really don't like the way he did this, but the narrative that Bruce just scooped Jason up off the streets because he wanted a new Robin is just straight up inaccurate. Yeah, I can totally admit that he probably felt at least a little lonely with Dick's absence and that affected his decision, but I think more importantly he saw himself in Jason and made his decision based on that.
Tumblr media
The same way he recognized Dick's trauma with witnessing his parents' deaths, he recognized Jason's here. Do I think letting these kids fight crime is the best way to handle this trauma? of course not! but as explained earlier, he didn't originally intend to make Jason robin. And even more than that, these are comics, they don't have to be good choices that would be okay in the real world!
Okay anyway I forgot what my other points were and I just spent an hour writing this out and finding the panels, so uh here. Sorry I went on a little bit of a rant here.

summary: [y/n] and lo’ak are gifted the role of scouting. but, they can’t make it one single day without putting themselves in harm’s way.
lo’ak x oldersister!reader
a/n: okay, so this was formerly titled "strong heart," but i actually ended up rewriting this entire thing because i decided… what the heck was that! the prompt is the same, but i highly recommend rereading because everything else is new (and hopefully improved).
warnings: violence, language, [y/n] being a protective badass older sister, implied killing

“oh, come on, little brother!” [y/n] called, her voice quiet overtop the wind. “tell me you can fly faster than that.” the two siblings soared across the blue skies, their ikrans barely avoiding the tops of each tree. every second that they moved, the flaps of their wings left the trees leaning backwards.
lo’ak groaned from behind her. “i can, but we already took a flight this morning, so i’m sorry that he’s a little tired,” he complained, patting a hand on his ikran’s neck causing a purr to rumble down its body.
the pair sully siblings were on scouting duty, their father sending the two of them off as soon as it became apparent that the day was far too busy for him as the olo’eyktan. it didn’t help that neytiri was occupied with tuk and kiri for the day, and neteyam had to attend whatever leadership meetings with his father. so, naturally, [y/n] and lo’ak immediately volunteered for the job.
normally, the parents would have said no, given the piece of work that the duo was. but, they had no choice that day. plus, even if they did say no, the two would have broken the rules and gone anyway, and jake was tired of scolding the two of them.
“excuses, excuses, brother,” [y/n] teased, turning back with a tempting grin, and just to layer it on, [y/n]’s ikran flicked her tail, lightly slapping the snout of lo’ak’s ride.
“hey!” he yelled defiantly, although the older sister could hear the smile in his voice. she braced herself as she heard the flapping wings increase rapidly, wind blowing faster. soon enough, the boy shot out in front of her and her ikran, not missing the chance to flip her off as he passed.
[y/n] laughed, shaking her head. “you are a child, lo’ak.”
“you are the one who started the competition!” he argued exasperatedly.
“ay, perhaps that is true, but at least i’m not a sore loser!” with that, the girl commanded her ikran downwards, the two ducking underneath her brother before pulling up directly in front of them.
and so, the race was officially on. no, they were not very good at keeping an eye on their surroundings, as scouts were supposed to do, but they were very good at sibling bonding. one after the other, they took the lead, alternating for what seemed like miles.
the two could only hear each other's laughs, breathless and smiling. [y/n] was in such a good mood, she’d almost missed it. she’d almost flown right through it and not even batted an eye. luckily for both of them, her ikran was on high alert ever since they entered the area a few paces back.
the laughter faded from [y/n]’s throat when she felt her ikran clicking her tongue, the soft vibrations sending her eyes up and ears perked. that’s when she finally noticed, immediately slowing to a stop, the two just keeping themselves flying in place.
[y/n] could feel her younger brother hurtling towards her, so as a last second attempt to stop him from ramming into them from behind, she put her hand up with her palm facing backwards. she thanked eywa that lo’ak was paying enough attention to notice, the boy stopping right next to her.
“[y/n]?” he panted, confused. but, it didn’t take long for him to realize either.
below them sat a camp, seemingly empty. but, it was new. the area was littered with human-like belongings—machinery, tents, an old campfire.
“that wasn’t marked on the map, was it?” [y/n] knew the answer, but she wanted to check anyway. as if she had a little bit of hope left. beside her, lo’ak silently shook his head no. “well, shit.”
“at least we have something to report?”
[y/n] quickly pushed a grin off of her lips at his comment, trying to remain serious. “is anyone in the camp? because if not, then where are they?”
lo’ak shrugged helplessly. “maybe they’re sleeping in.”
“it’s evening, skxwang,” she said with a roll of her eyes.
“okay, then they’re going to bed early.”
if she could smack him on the head, she would. “without anyone keeping watch? lo’ak, why do you lack intelligence?”
the boy sputtered, taking major offense to her comment. “hey, at least i’m creative.”
“creative, or stupid?” she muttered under her breath. she inhaled and exhaled a slow, deep breath. [y/n] was currently measuring two different choices. was she, a) going to be a good daughter or b) going to be a good clan member.
lucky for her, she didn’t even have to make a choice. “lo’ak!” she cried as her brother aimed his ikran downwards, slowly decreasing his altitude to land right outside the camp while still being hidden under the cover of trees.
“come on, [y/n], you know you wanted to,” he teased, a knowing smile resting on his lips.
“yes, but i wanted to make the call since i am the leader of this duo. mom said!” she argued bitterly, annoyance threaded through her tone.
the boy hummed, amused. “now who sounds like the child.”
with a huff of annoyance, [y/n] followed her younger brother down, landing their ikrans in the trees. carefully and very quietly, the two dismounted. from where they perched, [y/n] saw a perfect view of the camp’s entrance.
“it’s dead,” she whispered, shaking her head in confusion. with a quick look around at where they were located, storing it in the back of her brain, the girl hopped down. she landed softly on her feet, weight distributed perfectly thanks to the teachings of her mother.
lo’ak was not as quick to understand. “[y/n]?” he hissed, bringing her attention back up to the tree. “what are you doing?”
[y/n] only grinned. “come on, it’s empty! let’s explore a little, get some actual dirt to bring back to dad.” the boy shuffled warrily. “wait a minute,” she teased. “you’re not scared, are you, little brother?”
“what?” he sputtered. “uh, no! i’m just thinking. you know, like a warrior does. i’m willing to bet you didn’t think twice before jumping down there.”
she stuck her tongue out. “what’s the fun in thinking? now, come on, brother! hurry up, we do not have all day.” with that, the girl turned back around towards the camp, taking quick and quiet steps.
she grinned as she heard the huffs of lo’ak his own soft footsteps following soon after her. “the best way to approach this,” she began as soon as he caught up with her, “is to go in together. have your knife ready just in case, but as far as it looks, it is completely abandoned.”
lo’ak nodded. “do you think they have guns we could steal?” he pondered, a smile glued to his features. “because i don’t think dad would be too angry if we returned with some materials.”
“i like how you think, little brother.” and so, they finally entered the camp.
Tumblr media
“why would they leave all of their stuff here?” lo’ak wondered aloud, looking around at the ammo and resources left behind. there was far too much to bring all of it back, but they could at least load their ikrans with a few guns and bullets.
[y/n] was thinking the same thing, although she found it hard to believe that they would just drop everything and run. unless there’d been a threat, but this was a typically dormant side of the forest. the only animal that actually caused a hazard around this part were herds of hexapede, but it was clear that a stampede hadn’t been the threat to drive them away based on how put together everything still was.
[y/n] scratch her head as she looked around, ducking under tents to check what other indicators might be around. “the sleeping bags aren’t messy,” she commented. “they didn’t leave in a rush this morning. they at least had time to wake up.”
“they also ate breakfast,” lo’ak added, his fingers brushing against the cinderblock that surrounded the campfire. “and maybe lunch.”
she sucked her teeth, not understanding. “whatever drove them away was either too dangerous to grab their guns, or they just weren’t smart enough.”
lo’ak chuckled at that. “i wouldn’t be shocked if it were the latter.”
“or,” a clicking sound had [y/n]’s ears perked up, eyes alert and hand on her knife. “there was a lot more materials that we don’t know about.”
for a second, time froze. she could feel the change in the air, the smell of gunpowder just before the shot was fired. before the sound had even reached their ears, [y/n] launched herself off the ground, covering the body of her younger brother with her own.
the shot rung out, embedding a bullet into the tree that was previously directly behind lo’ak.
“holy shit,” lo’ak rasped, eyes wide as he stared at the spot on the tree. that could’ve been me.
not a second went by before [y/n] was back on her feet, two guns in her hands from what they ransacked.
lo’ak barely avoided another bullet, rolling to the side and behind the cover of a dead log. he gasped for air, the overwhelming stench of gunpowder clouding his senses. he couldn’t even see the familiar body of his sister.
but, from where he hid, he did watch the mutual interaction as they shot back and forth, one bullet after another. he felt pride swell in his chest as an avatar’s body dropped across from his sister’s side of the forest.
he shakily clutched his intercom necklace, words quiet as he told her, “one down, two more.” he was at the perfect position for spying, if not helpful for the battle field. “more left—your left. a branch above,” he directed, smiling as yet another fell.
“where’s the last one?” his sister questioned breathlessly in his ear. his eyes rose back up, searching the trees. where’d he gone?
it was just a second too late when he felt an extremely unnerving presence rising up behind him.
“[y/n]!” he yelled out loud, alerting his sister of exactly where he was located. the older girl stood up from her hiding place behind a tree, a gun in each hand. her eyes widened at her baby brother stuck in the grasp of an avatar.
from where he struggled, lo’ak watched the eyes of his sister. just tell me when to duck, he begged, his stare desperate and terrified. and then.. she signalled.
the boy dropped all of his weight at once, catching the avatar off-guard. he cursed in confusion at the boy’s problematic antics, the only thing keeping him from having to struggle with the na’vi boy anymore being the bullet that left [y/n]’s gun, embedding itself right between his eyebrows.
as the avatar’s body fell, silence followed. [y/n] collapsed to the ground, exhaustion creeping through her bones. lo’ak could barely move, trying to catch his breath from the major chokehold that avatar’d had on him.
eventually, someway, somehow, the two crawled back to each other. lo’ak felt himself melt in the warm embrace of his big sister, his protector.
“i’m sorry,” she sobbed, clutching his head against her chest. “i’m so sorry, baby brother. i did not mean to put you in harm’s way.”
he only chuckled, tears stinging the corners of his own eyes. “you did not endanger me, sister, you saved me.”

Tumblr media
The cool gel touched her skin, sending a small shiver up her spine as she stared at the ceiling, trying to keep her mind clear.
Clear of the crystal voice on the other end of the line, of the mental image of Joel building his new life with another woman and not fulfilling his promises to her and their unborn child…
She had been holding it together since the drive to the clinic, determined to keep things cool, to keep a distance. But her heart raced as she tried to focus on the sound of the tube that the doctor was squeezing gel from.
Suddenly, the door burst open, and Joel stormed in, his eyes wide with frustration. “What the hell happened? We were doing okay!” His voice echoed in the small room, making her flinch.
The doctor caught off guard, raised her eyebrows but quickly composed herself. “I’ll give you two a moment,” she said, her tone neutral. The doctor wiped the gel off her belly and slipped out of the room, closing the door behind her.
She sighed deeply, not wanting to look at Joel but knowing she had no choice. "And we are okay," she said, her voice steady despite the storm brewing inside her. "I’m just setting… expectations and limitations."
Joel crossed his arms, his brow furrowed in confusion. "Expectations and limitations? Wh-what are you talking about? We were doing great, wh-why are you suddenly–"
She shifted uncomfortably on the examination table, feeling the gel residue cool against her skin. "Because, Joel, we need to remember what this is. We're doing this for our daughter, not for us. We need to be clear on that."
His eyes narrowed, and a mix of hurt and anger flashed across his face. "So, what? You just decide I don’t need to be here? That I don’t have to be involved in this appointment at all?"
She shook her head, feeling her emotions bubbling just beneath the surface. "No, Joel, it's not about that. It's about... about keeping things clear. We need to focus on being good co-parents, not confusing everything by trying to be something we’re not anymore."
He stepped closer, his voice lowering but still charged with emotion. "And who says we’re confusing anything? We’ve been doing just fine! I thought we were getting somewhere, and now, all of a sudden, you’re pushing me away? What changed?"
She looked away, biting her lip. She couldn’t tell him. She couldn’t admit that the thought of him moving on, of him seeing someone else, made her feel like she was losing him all over again. She wasn’t supposed to feel that way. They were broken up, and that was that.
But the pain of it twisted in her chest, making it hard to breathe. "Nothing’s changed, Joel. I’m just trying to do what's right for our baby. I don’t want to make things messy."
Joel ran a hand through his hair, his frustration evident. "Messy? This is already messy, don’t you see that? But we’re in this together, or at least I thought we were. You don’t just get to decide I’m not a part of this… part of her life, out of the blue after what we’ve been through the past week…"
She finally met his gaze, her eyes brimming with unshed tears. "I’m not deciding anything, Joel. I’m just trying to protect myself... and protect you too. We need to move forward, but we can’t do that if we keep pretending like everything is the same as it was before."
His expression softened slightly, though the frustration was still there. "And who says it has to be like it was before? We were already figuring things out… We’ve been through worse, haven’t we?"
She shook her head again, her voice barely above a whisper. "I don’t know, Joel…”
Joel's shoulders slumped, and for a moment, the room was filled with a heavy silence. "I just... I don’t want to lose any more than I already have," he admitted quietly, his voice laced with vulnerability.
Her heart ached at his words, and she wished she could reach out, to tell him that she didn’t want that either. But she knew it wasn’t that simple. They couldn’t just go back to what they had, no matter how much they might want to. Not now that she knows someone else’s life is going to be involved that is not their baby.
Before she could respond, the door opened, and the doctor reentered, her expression careful as she glanced between them. "Ready to continue?" she asked gently.
She nodded, her gaze still locked with Joel’s. "Yes, I’m so sorry," she murmured, trying to push the tumult of emotions back down, at least for now.
But as the doctor resumed the exam, the tension in the room remained thick, the unspoken words and unresolved feelings hanging in the air between them. And though they had come to some sort of uneasy truce, she knew this wasn’t over. Not by a long shot.
"Well, everything looks good," the doctor said with a reassuring smile as she wiped away the remaining gel from her belly. "But you're almost due, and I want to make sure you’re prepared for when it's 'go-time.'"
Joel, who had been quiet and brooding, suddenly snapped to attention. His eyes focused on the doctor as though he were a soldier receiving orders on a battlefield. He pushed aside the turmoil in his mind, channeling all his energy into what needed to be done as the doctor continued her instructions. The reader nodded along, absorbing the instructions, but could not help glancing at Joel, who was already in problem-solving mode, mentally mapping out their routine, the fastest route to the hospital, what they needed to pack, and what to do if they were caught in traffic.
The appointment wrapped up, and soon they were back in the car, the engine humming softly as they drove home. The tension that had filled the examination room followed them, hovering like a dark cloud.
Joel cleared his throat, breaking the silence. "So, about the go-time plan... I’ll keep my phone on me at all times--oh, we need to pack your go-bag--"
"It's already packed," she responded flatly. Joel’s eyes flicked to her briefly, then back to the road. "Of course. You just focus on keeping calm and letting me know as soon as you feel anything."
"Right," she murmured, her hand resting on her belly. "I’ll do that."
They both lapsed into silence, the conversation too functional, too polite. It was a stark contrast to the emotional exchange they had shared earlier, and the awkwardness lingered as they pulled up to her house and went inside.
The next few days passed in a strange, uneasy rhythm. Joel stayed close, making sure everything was for the impending birth.
She, on the other hand, found herself moving around the house constantly. Her lower back ached incessantly, and she kept busy, tidying up, rearranging baby supplies, and even preparing meals—anything to keep herself occupied and distract from the dull pain in her back and the thoughts swirling in her head.
Joel watched her with growing concern, often gently reminding her to take it easy. But every time he tried to intervene, she brushed him off with a strained smile, insisting that she was fine.
It was clear that she was trying to keep herself occupied, but Joel couldn’t shake the feeling that something was bothering her beyond the physical discomfort.
Then, one afternoon, Joel walked into the kitchen, dressed in a crisp button-down shirt and dark jeans. He hesitated in the doorway, watching her as she moved about the kitchen, preparing a simple dinner.
She looked up and smiled, though it didn’t quite reach her eyes. "You look nice. Going somewhere?"
Joel’s expression faltered, and he nodded slowly. "Yeah, I, uh, have that dinner tonight… you know..." She nodded, forcing a smile and doing her best to make it stay on her face, though her heart felt like it was being squeezed.
"Right. Well, have fun. Drive safely." She tells him softly, doing her best to sound a little chirpy. "Thanks," Joel said, still watching her carefully.
"I won’t be out too late. If you need anything, just call me." She nodded, turning back to the stove.
"Sure thing." Joel lingered for a moment longer, then turned and left the house, the door closing softly behind him.
She stood there, staring at the pot of soup she’d been stirring, her mind racing. The tightness in her chest returned, and she tried to focus on the rhythmic motion of stirring, but the thoughts wouldn’t stop.
As she stirred, she couldn’t help but think about Joel and the woman he was seeing. The hurt was sharp, piercing through her like a blade, but she understood why he was moving on. He deserved to be happy. He deserved a life that wasn’t bogged down by the complications of their past or the uncertainties of their future. And maybe this woman could give him that—a fresh start, free from the weight of their history.
But it didn’t stop the jealousy from creeping in, nor did it stop the ache that settled in her heart. She had no right to feel this way, no right to be angry or resentful. They weren’t together anymore, and she knew that. She accepted that. But accepting something didn’t make it hurt any less.
She wanted Joel to be happy, truly. But she also couldn’t shake the fear that their baby would complicate his life in ways he didn’t deserve. She remembered all too well how he had been torn between her and Sarah, how he chose to walk away rather than try to build a life with both of them. It was a choice she had understood and accepted, as much as it had hurt. She had never wanted Joel to feel like he had to choose between them, and she certainly didn’t want him to feel that way now.
She loved Sarah like she was her own, and she knew that Sarah deserved a life filled with stability and love. She didn’t want to disrupt that any further, didn’t want to be the reason Joel had to make another painful choice. If her presence, if this baby, was only going to make things harder for Joel, she would let him go. She’d let him go before her baby arrived before their lives became even more entangled.
It wasn’t fair to Joel, or to Sarah, to hold on to something that might never be. She’d find a way to move forward for good, to build a life for herself and her baby, without dragging Joel into a situation that could complicate his already complex life. She didn’t want to be a burden, didn’t want to put him in a position where he had to choose again.
She would need to move far away from Austin.
She would be fine. She would find a way to make it work. But the thought of Joel being happy with someone else, of him finding peace in a life without her, twisted painfully in her chest. And yet, she knew she had to let him go. It was the right thing to do—for him, for Sarah, and for her baby.
She turned off the stove, letting the soup simmer as she tried to gather herself. She would find the strength to do what needed to be done. She had to, for everyone’s sake.
Hours passed, and as the evening wore on, she began to feel an unfamiliar tightness in her belly, more intense than the usual discomfort.
She brushed it off at first, attributing it to stress, but as the minutes ticked by, the sensation grew stronger, more insistent.
By the time Joel returned home, it was late, and she was in the kitchen, leaning against the island, swaying her hips gently to try and ease the pain.
Joel walked in, his keys jangling as he tossed them onto the counter.
"Hey, how’re you holding up?" he asked, his tone casual, though he froze when he saw her expression. She was gripping the edge of the counter, her knuckles white, her breathing labored.
Joel’s heart dropped into his stomach. "Are you… are you okay? Did your water break?" he asked, his voice edged with panic. She could only shake her head, unable to speak as another contraction gripped her.
When it finally subsided, she straightened up, picked up her mug, and moved toward the living room, one hand on her lower back for support.
Joel watched her, bewildered and alarmed. "Talk to me," he demanded, following her.
"What’s going on? Are you in labor?" She turned to face him, trying to say something harsh to push him away and shut him out but her eyes only filled with unshed tears, and she just nodded in reply, trembling a little.
Joel’s eyes widened as her nod confirmed his worst fears. He was by her side in an instant, his hand hovering near her arm, unsure if she wanted him close or not. "Okay, okay," he muttered, more to himself than to her. "We need to get you to the hospital."
But she shook her head, her body tense, her breaths coming in short, rapid bursts. "No… I-I’m not ready," she whispered, her voice trembling.
"Not ready?" Joel repeated, confused. "You’re in labor, we need to—"
"I’m not ready to do this alone," she finally admitted, her voice breaking. "But I have to… I can’t… I can’t drag you into this. It’s not fair to you… or to Sarah."
Joel’s heart twisted at her words. He could see the fear in her eyes, the overwhelming uncertainty that she was trying to hide behind a wall of forced strength. "Darlin', you’re not alone," he said gently, taking a step closer. "I’m here. I want to be here."
"But you shouldn’t be!" she cried, her voice rising in panic. "Joel, you shouldn’t have to go through this again. I know you’re trying to help, but… this isn’t your responsibility. It’s mine."
"Why are you pushing me away?" Joel asked, his voice low but intense. "I’m not going anywhere. I want to be here for you, for our baby. Please, let me help."
She bit her lip, trying to hold back the tears that were now spilling over. "I’m scared, Joel," she finally admitted, her voice cracking with emotion.
"And, and, I’m–I’m hurt. I know I shouldn’t be, but I am. You’re seeing someone else, and I get it, I do. We’re not together anymore, and you have every right to move on. But I can’t help how I feel. I can’t stand the thought of you being happy with someone else when I’m here, struggling with everything."
Joel’s eyes widened in shock. "Darlin', I—"
"No," she interrupted, shaking her head as she wiped at her eyes. "I’m not done. I just… I don’t know how to deal with this feeling, I just know that they're not right and I shouldn't be feeling this. But I’m scared, Joel. I’m scared of doing this alone, but I’m even more scared of dragging you into something you don’t want… something that could hurt Sarah again. I don’t want to put you in a position where you have to choose again."
Joel’s expression softened, and he took her hands in his, his touch gentle but firm. "Darlin', if you're worried about that dinner... It's not what you think, trust me," he said, his voice steady and assuring. "And you’re not dragging me into anything. I’m here because I want to be. I want to help you, to be with you and our baby. This isn’t about choosing. This is about being there for the people I care about. You and Sarah are both a part of my life and so is this baby."
She looked up at him, her eyes filled with a mix of fear and uncertainty. "But what if it’s too much? What if it makes everything harder?"
Joel shook his head, squeezing her hands gently. "Everything is harder with a newborn." Joel managed to joke, and they both found room to chuckle. "We’ll figure it out. Together. You don’t have to carry all of this on your own. I’m here, and I’m not going anywhere."
"It's unfair to your date--"
"That wasn't a date."
"What?"
She looked at him confused now and, quite frankly, feeling a little foolish. Joel sighed deeply and rested his hands on his hips, head between his shoulders, taking a moment to gather his thoughts.
"She's an ex... and we recently reconnected at a convention but it wasn’t a date. I promise you. I uh... She works at my insurance company and I'm updating my life insurance policy... I am adding the baby..."
"Oh!" She yelped and groaned really low, Joel with his cat-like reflexes was already holding her as she sank into a deep squat.
"Just breathe," he murmured, his voice soothing. "You’re doing great."
She tried to focus on his voice, on the steady rhythm of his breathing, but the pain was intense and overwhelming.
"Joel… it’s… it’s getting wooooooorrrrrrseee ohhhh..." She felt it pop inside her and fluids began to slightly stream down her legs.
"We need to get to the hospital," he said urgently, helping her to her feet. "We don’t have much time."
She nodded, finally giving in to the reality of the situation. "Okay," she whispered, her voice trembling. "Okay, let’s go."
Joel grabbed the hospital bag and guided her to the door, his mind racing as he tried to stay calm for her sake. As they headed to the car, she hesitated, turning to him one last time.
"Thank you," she said, her voice breaking. Joel sighed deeply with a slight smile, and just kissed her on the forehead.
"Let's get this baby out, mama." He whispered as he guided her inside the passenger seat.

GEN Z READER IN TASK FORCE 141 HC
Tumblr media
A/N: I saw a couple of these and I couldn't stop trying to find more, and I just love the concept of all these big men trying to understand the reader's humour but I also love how they try to watch over them even though they can easily take care of themselves. Also, do expect the codename to change if I make another one of these but if anyone has ideas please tell me. Anyways I hope this doesn't flop and please enjoy.
Warnings: Dark humour, Suicide jokes, simping, swearing, mentions of parents leaving the reader, basically gen z stuff, usual CoD violence
Character(s): Soap, Gaz, John, Ghost, Price x Gn! reader (And graves kinda-)
Codename: Daffodil
There is no thinking about it you are the youngest and probably the shortest in the task force.
When Laswell first told Price that he will have someone younger than he expected to join the task force he immediately said no, he wasn't going to babysit you.
Plus you looked way too young to be in the army
Little did he know, you got your codename for a reason.
But once Laswell said you were very strong and he could trust you to hold your own and that he had to, he didn't have much of a choice.
And as expected once Price and Laswell introduce you to the boys they were shocked too.
There was a literal child in front of them.
And Soap being Soap he let out a little chuckle earning a nudge and glare from Ghost and an "ahem" from Price
"This is Daffodil, your new rookie. And I warn you don't underestimate them just from their name. Treat them well."
At first you were very quiet and only spoke when spoken to, almost beating Ghost's stoic and quiet nature
To which the rest of 141 joked about quite a lot
but after a while, you started to open up to them which was a nice sign
But the boys did catch onto your humour pretty quickly which caused them to worry for your mental state.
You would start saying suicide jokes at 1 mile per second at every small inconvenience.
"If that happens again I'm going to jump in front of a car- I am going to hang myself- I cannot right now-"
"Kid...It's just paper work..."
"Exactly"
One time you and the group were going after a target and of the guys' men shot you in the arm. It wasn't as bad as you thought it would be but it still hurt.
While Soap and Gaz asked if you were okay you were completely hysterical at the moment. So much in fact that you shouted something so stupid before the guy met his inevitable end.
By Ghost too:D
Thanks Ghost<33
"Do you want this back???"
BLAM
"Oop, mans left quicker than my dad."
To say the least, your boys were concerned for you because of that
Even Ghost tried to check up on you every minute or two after they got the bullet out and patched you up.
You all eventually got the target in the end but your boys ended up forcing you to go get your wound checked since a, and I quote, "Crusty dusty" building wouldn't be the best place to pick out bullet fragments.
You came back with one of the doctor's pens because you liked it and claimed you finessed him when in reality he gave it to you because he noticed you staring and you were too scared to ask.
It was a LED cat paw pen
"Gaz what does finesse mean?"
"I don't really know..?"
"What do you mean you're supposed to know-"
One time you shouted slay during a mission once Ghost killed one of the targets.
To be honest, it did make him laugh but Price, on the other hand, didn't understand but he soon got what it meant. Kinda.
With that being said Gaz and sometimes Soap are the go-to when Price or Ghost don't understand what the hell you just said since they are the younger ones.
Which also means you got along better with them
And if they don't understand something they always try their best to find out and find more things you would laugh at.
Soap even goes that extra effort to make memes and send them to you.
But don't get me wrong you love spending time with Price and Ghost.
And speaking of memes you always end up making stupid gifs of Ghost and always end up sending them to the tf141 group chat that you made to annoy them most of the time or Ghost himself where you sometimes end up joke flirting with him
Mans is scrumdiliumcious if you did say so yourself
(Ahem basically the gif at the start of the hcs)
One time you called Ghost Mummy and Soap and Gaz wouldn't stop laughing while Price sighed at the little slip-up.
It wasn't a slip-up.
You defiantly burst into Price's office most of the time too when you have nothing to do.
Even though hearing Price drone on about his paperwork doesn't sound that fun it's nice to hear his voice.
And If you didn't have good parents or were absent most of your life he would never turn you away once he sees you at his door.
This also applies if you have good parents too
From the number of times he had to lecture you and your boys about how you can't have McDonald's after a mission and how it's bad for you is basically allowing him to adopt you.
Once you met Grave one thing kept popping into your mind.
Fix it Felix.
Which didn't really give you both a great start but he warmed up to you sooner or later.
And as much as an asshole he is most of the time he actually gets concerned when he hears one of your suicide jokes.
When he first heard one over coms he made sure to keep an eye on you every so often and even messaged you after the mission was over.
Don't get me wrong Graves is kinda...shitty but that doesn't make him that much of an asshole to not check up on a 'child' when they say something concerning.
And when all your boys are free and there is time you all have a movie night.
It's quite relaxing, it was nice to have these quiet moments with your boys considering your jobs.
Although one time it was getting really late and you all got through 2 movies and you almost looked like you were going to pass out so that's when papa Price came out.
"Papa, more movie."
"No the movie is over, we gotta go.."
"PAPA"
"Oh, Jesus Christ.." (💀)
"Me. Want. More. Movie."
"No Daffo-"
"YOU LIE"
"Kiddo the movie is-"
"Price what did you do-" (🧼)
Once you calmed down and Price realized what you said he cried internally.
Everything was okay in the end though and Gaz had that on camera so they can always look back and laugh at it.

A request for you if you feel so inclined 🥹 this doesn’t need to be romantic unless you want to spin it that way. What if cassian or azriel at one point saved an Illyrian girl from getting her wings clipped and from that point forward she idolizes them. Every time they stop by her camp she’s always there to greet them with whatever sweets she baked that day (she helps out in the kitchens at the camp) and asks them about their missions and adventures, if they’re sleeping well or eating enough and just overall doting on them. (And then if there’s a romantic twist, one day she goes to greet them and the bond snaps and she just fumbles over whether or not to offer the cookies she made that day because wouldn’t that be WAY too soon to accept a mating bond? 👀) Maybe she wants to be trained as a Valkyrie but her parents won’t allow it. maybe the girl is devlon’s daughter? But doesn’t have to be! This was a lot sorry lol (love love LOVE all your work by the way 🥰)
Mere coincidence?
Summary: Y/n never thought she would ever be treated like more than trash. So it's a surprise when one of the most powerful men in the entirety of Prythian saves her.
•○●⛦●○•
A/n: hey darling, I love this so much❣️😌. Also, don't worry about it. I love when you all send me asks, especially when it has a lot of things to work with 😉
Also, I mostly try to go with someone who isn't Azriel when you tell me to choose because there's a lot of azzie stuff that I have and not enough for others Bois so I hope it's okay.
I kept this one short because I didn't want to keep you waiting. I'll be writing a part two soon. Please let me know what you think about it!
Anyways, that's all. Enjoy!
•○○•
Everything was flying downhill, which was not the best choice of words, as in a moment, she would never be able to fly.
She tried again to loosen the bonds on her wrists, all in vain. She'd been tied here since dawn, and it was now afternoon. They did this all the time to females, just to make them feel more helpless. It made them feel like they had time to escape, but they didn't.
There weren't many female who had been able to get freed of the bonds on their wrists, but the few who did? They were shot down before they could even reach flying heights.
Y/n looked around. No one paid attention to her, as if she didn't exist. Maybe for them she didn't. It was common occurrence that a female, sometimes more than one, would be tied to one of the posts in the center of the camp. It was only her today.
Snow crunched behind her, and she stiffened. Her father walked around her to her front, kneeling. He studied her for a moment before standing.
"Get the equipments." He called out to someone behind him.
"Yes my lord!" The Illyrian said before running off as a crowd gathered.
She stared at him.
Her father.
But that's not what people thought of when they talked about him. No, what came to mind when people saw her father was a great warrior. That he was the Lord of the camp.
Lord Devlon.
"What are you looking at girl? Staring like that wouldn't spare you."
"I know. I'm not stupid enough to think that." She lifted her chin. Which was not the right choice, as her father looked on the verge of chopping someone to pieces. That someone being her.
But she didn't care. Being chopped to pieces was preferable to losing her wings. There was nothing she was scared of, because no matter what she did or didn't do, her wings were going to be clipped today.
She could be a brat, or she could be the most innocent and naive female, who would do anything the males asked of her. It wouldn't fucking matter, because in the end, the thing that mattered most to her, she would be stripped of.
When two Illyrians came to turn her around, she stood before they could touch her. She didn't want anyone touching her. Even if she was going to her death, she would go by her own two feet. She will not be dragged anywhere by people who had to belittle and hurt females to feel powerful.
She stood and, maintaining eye contact with her fuming father, and turned away, baring her back and wings to him, flaring them wide.
Nothing happened for a moment, and then a footstep sounded. Another and then another.
She took a deep breath, readying herself for the pain and anguish when she felt the cold press of the tools on one of her wings. She bit her tongue when the tool started slowly digging into her back, awaiting the–
A loud thump echoed through the still and silent crowd, and slowly people started dispersing. She blinked, daring to turn her head to look when the tool left her back. Her father was thrown on the ground, and the people who were still standing next to them gasped.
What the hell?
She turned as much as she could, and she found herself staring into the hazel eyes of the General of Night Court.
"Are you okay?" He asked, his voice low and raspy. She nodded, not knowing what to do with the fact that this male was talking to her. He nodded, slashing through the bonds on her wrist with a dagger before turning back to her father.
"Touch her or her wings again and you'll be carcass before you can blink."
Hey father snarled, trying to get up but before he could even get one leg under him, the General was on him, landing punch after punch on his face.
She stood there shocked. Why the hell was the General here? And, why in the hell was he saving her?
As she stared, wondering if she should do anything to save her father, totally not enjoying the show, another Illyrian landed nearby. This new arrival pulled the General off of her father.
A hint of disappointment entered her, but she chided herself for thinking that way.
Y/n watched as the two Illyrian murmured furiously to each other, and then the one with the blue siphons turned to her father.
"I believe you understood what he wanted to say. Don't make us repeat ourselves. The High Lord will be here shortly."
"He didn't send–"
"No he didn't. But who do you think owns this place, and, indirectly, your life?"
"Curse you, you bastards." The two Illyrians looked as indifferent to her father's insult as a cat to its owner's affection.
The General then walked to where she stood, his siphons casting a light red glow over his form and his immediate surroundings. "Are you sure you are alright?"
She nodded numbly, staring at the absolute giant of a man.
"Stay away from her you disgusting pig!" Her father spat as he climbed to his feet.
The General cocked his head, sharing a look with the Spymaster before turning away.
"Mind your language Devlon. I'll be back to check on her. And I swear to the Cauldron, if she is hurt or loses her wings, I will act on my promise."
Why the hell would he do that?
Her father barked at her to get back to her duties, cursing and grunting as he left with a few Illyrian men.
But Y/n stared after the General and Spymaster's retreating forms, clutching her left elbow with her right.
Wondering if it was a mere coincidence that they had arrived just before she lost her precious wings.
She didn't know why the General cared enough to threaten to kill her father if her wings were clipped, but she did know one thing.
She would fight. For herself and her life.
She wouldn't just sit back and take whatever the males threw at her, making herself smaller to feed their egos.
She had always tried to not be a nuisance to her father or any others, having always thought that she was worth nothing.
No. She wasn't the one who thought that way. She had been forced to think that way by the ideals and traditions that had been embedded in their minds.
And now, she would fight.
She would endure anything thrown her way, and she would face it.
She will train with the men. Of course, after she finished all the chores assigned to her.
And if she died in the process of her rebellion?
Then she would have died for a great cause.

Hey, Queen, love your headcannons so much! I have a request: Could you make a headcanon on how the Marked ones would be if they were parents to (a) teenager(s)? Ik you did one with toddlers etc, but I want to see one with teens. ❤️
Hello Queen!
Thank you so much for this request, and for the Headcanon love! Ok, Marked Ones teenager edition. Hope this fills your cup!
Bodhi:
I imagine he’d have a lot of children and many around the same age as he and his partner can’t seem to keep their hands off eachother
So he’s got like his four eldest kids around the ages of 18-14 A son, second son, daughter, and third son.
Ya’ll He’d be such a good parent
Honestly, it would piss Xaden off at how much of a natural he’d be.
Though on the inside, this man is overwhelmed lolol. I imagine after the war he’s in some type of Assembly position or second hand to Xaden. So he’s always working or taking on some sort of task Xaden assigns him. I wouldn’t be surprised if Bodhi does official acts as king if Xaden is ever away.
But this man will never miss a meal with his kids. Like his mother, he’s home every evening to spend time with his family, even if he is fighting sleep
And because he’s such a family man, His kids know he is wrapped around their fingers and they can literally do anything and he’s like “okay, I’ll let it slide this time”
Mr Durran. It’s been many, many ‘let it slide this time’ lolol
He’s very hands off with them, and gives them a lot of freedom and autonomy. There’s moments when Imogen’s like, “You realize your eldest snuck out with that kid again, right?” And Bodhi responds with a “I know. They don’t think I know, but I do. And I trust that they will be smart and make good choices.”
Though, he’s also protective, so he’d follow up with, “And if that kid decides to break my son’s heart I’ll send you and Cuir after them and whoever gets to them first wins a prize of my choosing.”
And I think because of the freedom and trust he gives them, his kids are angels (they are his kids after all). There’s moments I imagine when Bodhi and Xaden are in some sort of meeting has his second eldest comes in with a frown and confesses to the idea of wanting to break into the kitchens and steal cake. Bodhi’s like “It’s okay, son. I’m so glad you told me. How about we get some together after my meeting? You know, your uncle and I were quite the thieves ourselves in the kitchens when we were younger…”
Xaden is just staring at him clenching his jaw as his cousin is gentle parenting his nephew for thinking of committing a cake heist while his daughter is sneaking out and actually committing various offenses across the kingdom with Violets approval.
Xaden:
I believe I headcannoned that he would have one child, a daughter. For this I’m saying she’s around 16. Third eldest of all the kids but the most rebellious.
I think a lot of Fen would show up when his daughter became a teenager. I know with many people saying they ‘wouldn’t be like their parents’ when they become parents but I think Xaden would slip into his father’s shoes without him knowing.
Meaning, I think he would do a lot of stuff ‘to protect her’ without actually telling her why or the reason.
But he’d be such a good dad like Bodhi. Would be a gentleman to her so she knows what standard to expect when she starts dating
He is 100% thet meme of “I took my daughter to a expensive restaurant so she knows to expect better when you try to take her to a drive thru”
Also, bless the fool who would ever try to court his daughter. He would straight up tell them they weren’t good enough for her or scare them off.
Even if Violet gave her approval of them Xaden would be so salty about it.
If they were to show up to Riorson House for a date he’d pull an old wingleader move and get Tairn and Sgaeyl swoop in and stare them down while they waited for Xaden’s daughter to get ready. Yes, they would be the overprotective dragon parents too, and it was probably Sgaeyl’s idea.
And yes, Xaden would absolutely follow the two of them on their date with his shadows until Violet caught him and made him stop
Also with Xaden, he needs counsel on managing a rebellious teenager so Bodhi is also employed in that regard. Half of their meetings are on raising moody teenagers
But Xaden loves his daughter so much. Even if they were fighting they’d always say I love you before stomping out the room because they know how important those words are.
“You’re grounded and I mean it this time. No flying for two weeks, and I love you.”
“Ughhh!! This is so not fair!! I’m telling mom…and love you too.”
Garrick & Imogen:
I put these two together because I think they would totally be the wealthy aunt and uncle of the group with no children but would spoil and enable the shit out of Bodhi and Xaden’s kids.
Like if any of the kids made a big mistake, they’d go to Garrick and Imogen before their parents
Imogen would absolutely help Xaden’s daughter with any type of sneaking out she’d be doing with her partner or to go up to the nesting grounds to fly with Andarna
Garrick would do all the smooth talking with the parents if they are ever caught assisting their nieces and nephews.
“Relax, Xaden. I made sure to put a tracking rune on her before we helped her sneak out. Shes just south of Aretia and will be fine.”
Bodhi: “Our daughter got extra assignments today because she used inappropriate language today with a classmate. She called her, and I quote - a gryphon faced shit fuck…do you know anything about this Im?” , Imogen: “…I mean it’s technically just ‘a gryphon shit for a face’ but I’m sure it had the same impact. We’ll get it right next time.”
Also, in an alternate headcanon they end up taking care of all the younger marked ones after the war. They refuse to call it fostering, those are their babies now. Garrick gives them all the choice if they want to take either his or Imogene’s last name or keep their family names. Nearly all of them become Tavis-Cardulos

You thought the next time you were in Yacleira, you’d have a much different life. Here you are, back in your dressing room wearing the same beautiful dress you were wearing when you left this country. The dress is a pinkish-beige color instead of the traditional white a wedding dress is supposed to be. The strapless bodice has golden swirls and diamonds are placed sporadically along the spiral lines. Extra fabric was sewn onto both sides of the dress to give it a more full and voluminous look. Those pieces of fabric start from your waist and go all the way down to the ground to meet the bottom of the dress. The fabric is curled over each other to create a sort of wavy look that looks natural. The bottom of the entire dress has fluffy ruffles and a train flows behind you.
Why did you think things would be different for you? Why did you have hope that you were going to be treated differently? Spencer has shown you things you only read about in books, and made you feel things only characters in movies get to feel. The time spent with Spencer has been the best months of your entire life but your parents don’t care about any of it.
Their princess is back and they expect her to get married off to someone she doesn’t love. You want to scream and cry but you don’t, and Ben watches you with a careful eye knowing you want to. He hasn’t said anything to you since you got back mostly because you think he feels guilty for sending you to America without checking who you’re staying with. It’s not his fault but he won’t hear it.
Your mother enters the room and smiles when she sees you in your wedding dress.
“Look how gorgeous you are.”
“Thank,” you mumble.
“Don’t be so sad, honey.”
“You won’t understand. There was something special with Spencer. I thought I really loved him.”
“Everything is going to be okay. You’ll see.”
This time, she isn’t letting you out of her sight. She is eager to walk you down the aisle knowing you’ll be married to Henry in only a few hours. The tradition fulfilled, the peace treaty unbroken. Ben stands on your left while your mother stands on your right. Both of them start to walk you down the aisle where Henry is waiting for you at the altar. You keep your gaze focused on the banner right above Henry because you will break out in tears if you look at him. Maybe if you pretend he’s Spencer, it’ll be better.
The minister’s voice drones out so you’re not paying attention to anything he is saying. It’s like you’re locked inside your body, forced to watch this disaster play out. There is nothing you can do about it so you sit idly by and wait for the storm to pass. This is being televised to the citizens of Yacleira with the most important people in the audience.
“If anyone should object to the marriage of Y/N Richmond and Henry Harrington, speak now or forever hold your peace.”
You don’t look to the audience knowing there is no one there who will speak up.
“I do.” Your eyes widen and you look to see Spencer standing up. “I object.” You can’t find the words as whispers fill the ballroom. He steps into the aisle just as everyone turns to look at him. “I know I don’t hold nearly as much value as a prince but I do know that I can’t stop thinking about you. You make me happy, happier than I have ever been in a long time. I have no idea where this relationship will go but if you let me, I will do everything I can to make you happy. I want to be with you. Do you want to be with me?”
Everyone turns to look at you who has a shocked look on your face.
“I have a confession,” Henry says and all eyes are on him. “I can’t… I’m in love with someone else.” Shocked gasps go through the room, and Henry looks at you. “I’m sorry. I don’t mean to hurt you.”
“I think I’m in love with someone else, too,” you say and look at Spencer.
Your mother and father are already storming up to the altar with not-so-pleased looks on their faces.
“Throne room, now,” your mother scowls.
You look at Spencer once before leaving the room. Ben and Kylen follow you to the throne room while your parents deal with the rest of the wedding that may not happen. You’re only in the throne room for five minutes before Spencer and your parents walk in.
“Mother, I’m sorry--”
“How do you feel about Spencer?” she asks.
Spencer walks over to you and you grab his hand in support. You can’t believe he flew all the way out here just for you. He must have left only days after you did since the wedding happened four days after you got back to Yacleira.
“I love him, Mother.”
“Then you two need to make a decision. I have misjudged you and I apologize for that. Your father and I were talking in the days before the wedding. I had hoped you would marry Henry but I realize now how unhappy you have been. I loved your father when I married him but I see now you don’t love Henry. Forcing you to marry someone we want isn’t going to work for you.”
“Mama,” you whisper tearfully.
“I love you so much, my dear. I want nothing but happiness for you, and if being with Spencer makes you happy, then I want you to be with him.”
“Thank you,” you smile.
“However,” your father’s voice booms around the throne room, “there is a choice you need to make. If you don’t want to marry royalty, then we won’t make you. We’ll deal with Vosharia and sign a new peace treaty.”
“What’s the choice?” you ask.
“You can either give up royalty and live as a commoner with Spencer or you can embrace your status as Queen with Spencer by your side. You’ll need to be married for that and without Vosharia, I can give you another year before you have to be married.”
You look at Spencer who is already looking at you. How can you possibly ask Spencer to do this? You want nothing but to be with Spencer but does he want you enough to be in this life with you?
“We’ll give you two a minute,” your mother says.
Everyone leaves the throne room to pick up the pieces of the abandoned wedding.
“Y/N--”
“I could never ask you to give up your life for me.” The tears fall but you make no move to wipe them away. “I could never ask you to give up all your friends and family to come here and live with me as King.”
“Technically, I’d be a prince.”
“That’s not the point,” you sigh.
“Still, I could never ask you to give up your friends and family for me.”
“I don’t know what to do.”
“Neither do I.”
This time, you have no words. Do you stay with Spencer in Virginia or does Spencer move to Yacleira and rule by your side? No one else can make this decision but you and Spencer.
