LUCY’S THIN BLUE LINE
Lucy and Law Enforcement ~ Part 2
Tumblr media
On “The Lucy Show,” Lucy Carmichael not only had multiple run-ins with the police - she actually became one for a couple of episodes!  Here’s a look at Carmichael and Cops!
Tumblr media
“Lucy and Viv Become Tycoons” (1963) ~ When Lucy and Viv open their own business at home, they are visited by Sergeant Robbins (Bern Hoffman) to check on their permits and operating practices. In 1960, Hoddman appeared in the Lucille Ball / Bob Hope film The Facts of Life.
Tumblr media
“Lucy Drives a Dump Truck” (1963) ~ Driving a truck to a nearby town, Lucy and Viv are pulled over by a Brewster policeman played by Richard Reeves, a veteran of nine episodes of “I Love Lucy” including playing a policeman in “Equal Rights” (1953). This is his only appearance on “The Lucy Show.”
Tumblr media
“Lucy and the Safe Cracker” (1963) ~ When Mr. Mooney gets locked in the safe (again), Lucy contacts a safe cracker (Jay Novello) and Sergeant Wilcox (James Flavin) is on the scene. Coincidentally, Flavin played the Immigration Officer searching for Mario Orsatti (Jay Novello) in  “Visitor from Italy” (1956). He will return to “The Lucy Show” two episodes later to play Sgt. Wilcox again in another bank-themed episode. He appeared in four films with Lucille Ball, including playing a police sergeant in Without Love (1945). During his long career he played so many officers of the law that his IMDB photo is of him in a police uniform!
Tumblr media
“Lucy and the Bank Scandal” (1963) ~ Sergeant Wilcox (James Flavin) investigates a case of embezzelment at the Danfield Bank. Lucy suspects Mr. Mooney and digs up his yard to find the stolen cash.
Tumblr media
“Lucy is Her Own Lawyer” (1964) ~ Officer Joe (Joe Mell) the Baliff, swears in Lucy Carmichael as well as Mr. Mooney and Nelson the dog! Mell returns as a Baliff in “Lucy the Meter Maid” (1964) and a Bank Guard in “Lucy the Stockholder” (1965).
Tumblr media
“Lucy the Meter Maid” (1964) ~ Lucy joins the Danfield Police Force as meter maid. When Viv doesn’t feed the meter, Lucy issues her a summons and they land up in court. Once again, Joe Mell plays the Baliff.
Tumblr media
“Lucy Makes a Pinch” (1964) ~ Still on the Force, Lucy is recruited to be part of a stake out. The episode features three of Danfield’s finest (left to right): Murdock (Jack Searl), Captain Bradford (Alan Carney), and Detective Bill Baker (Jack Kelly).  As a child actor, Jack Searl was featured in the 1932 film Officer Thirteen, about motorcyle cops. Alan Carney played a policeman in the 1963 comedy classic It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. In 1955, Jack Kelly appeared on a TV series titled “City Detective.”
Tumblr media
“Lucy the Coin Collector” (1964) ~ When Lucy drops a rare coin down the sewar grate, she is consoled by a cop on the beat (Ray Kellogg).  his is the second of his seven episodes of “The Lucy Show.” He also did two episodes of “Here’s Lucy.” Just as in his other screen credits, most most times he played policemen, as he does here.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and the Ceramic Cat” (1965) ~ While Lucy breaks into Bigelow’s Department Store, Viv stands guard, diverting the cop on the beat (John J. ‘Red’ Fox). Fox was best known for playing policemen, which is what he did on five of his eight appearances on “The Lucy Show” as well as three of his five episodes of “Here’s Lucy.”
Tumblr media
“Lucy, the Stockholder” (1965) ~ After buying a single share of the Danfield Bank for $32, Lucy the stockholder pays the bank a visit. She warns the lackadaisical guard (Joe Mell) that she has a nine year-old nephew who is quicker on the draw than him.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and the Undercover Agent” (1965) ~ Trying to get access to performer Carol Channing, Lucy charms Military Police (MP) officer Sol Schwartz. The character name was specifically chosen so Lucy can sing “Hello, Solly” to the tune of “Hello, Dolly”.
Tumblr media
“Salute to Stan Laurel” (1965) ~ In a special tributing the late comedian, Lucille Ball is part of a silent movie sketch featuring Buster Keaton and Harvey Korman as a policeman in the park.
Tumblr media
“Lucy Meets Mickey Rooney” (1965) ~ A silent movie sketch based on Charlie Chaplin’s The Kid features the Keystone Kops (Sid Gould, above). Keystone Kops are fictional, humorously incompetent policemen featured in silent film slapstick comedies produced by Mack Sennett for his Keystone Film Company between 1912 and 1917.
Tumblr media
“Lucy Goes to a Hollywood Premiere” (1966) ~ Mr. Mooney is questioned by Officer Collins (Robert Foulk) of the Beverly Hills Police Department. He doesn’t have a permit to sell maps to the movie stars’ homes and is hauled down to the police station. Foulk played the Brooklyn policeman on the subway platform in “Lucy and the Loving Cup” (1956). He will go on to play six characters on “Here’s Lucy,” two of them policemen.
Tumblr media
“Lucy the Gun Moll” (1966) ~ Robert Stack plays Federal Agent Briggs in this satire on Desilu’s “The Untouchables.” Stack played G-Man Eliot Ness on the series and only agreed to the satire if the names were changed.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and the Submarine” (1966) ~ Whe Lucy sneaks onto a submarine, she must get by a stoic Navy Shore Patrolman (SP) played by Steven Marlo. Marlo makes the first of his two appearances on “The Lucy Show.”
Tumblr media
“Lucy and the Ring-a-Ding Ring” (1966) ~ Ray Kellogg plays the cop on the beat who discovers Mr. Mooney trying to get a nearly unconscious Lucy into his car because she has his wife’s ring stuck on her finger.
Tumblr media
“Viv Visits Lucy” (1967) ~ To find a wayward Danfield boy, Lucy and Viv go to the Sunset Strip, where they are mistaken for hippie biker chicks by the police. Ray Kellogg plays the Motorcycle Officer (right) and John J. 'Red’ Fox plays Patrolman Harry McLeod (left).
Tumblr media
“Lucy Puts Main Street on the Map” (1967) ~ Mel Torme is Mel Tinker, the deputy and Roy Barcroft plays his father, Police Chief Tinker, the law enforcement team in small town Bancroft. During his long career on screen, Barcroft played a sheriff 18 times between 1943 and 1966, including in Billy the Kid Versus Dracula (1966).
Tumblr media
“Lucy Meets the Law” (1967) ~ Lucy thinks she’s being arrested for littering when she is actually being mistaken for a red-haired jewel thief. Claude Akins (Lieutenant Finch) is perhaps best remembered for playing Sheriff Lobo in “B.J. And the Bear” (1978-79) and its sequel “The Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo” (1979-81).
Tumblr media
Jody Gilbert plays the jail matron aka ‘Tinkerbell’. Gilbert will also appear in two episodes of “Here’s Lucy,” in one of which she also plays a prison matron.
Tumblr media
Ken Lynch (Officer Peters, left) started playing policemen on TV in 1950 and continued to do so for much of his career. Joseph Perry (Officer Miller, right) started his screen acting career in 1956. Perry played a policeman on “My Living Doll” (1965) filmed at Desilu. He appeared on the police-themed shows “Policewoman,” “Police Story,” “Barney Miller,” “Hill Street Blues,” “CHiPs,” “The Rookies” “The Mod Squad,” “87th Precinct,” “The FBI,” “The Rookies,” and “The Sheriff of Cochise” a Desilu Production.
Tumblr media
“Lucy Sues Mooney” (1967) ~ Irwin Charone (Bailiff) makes the third of his five appearances on “The Lucy Show.”
Tumblr media
Two uncredited background actors play Officers of the Court.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and the Stolen Stole” (1968) ~ Lucy and Mr. Mooney go shopping for Mrs. Mooney's birthday and wind up being arrested for possession of a stolen fur stole. The boys in blue are played by Ray Kellogg, Roy Shapiro, and John J. 'Red' Fox as Officer Shapiro.
Tumblr media
“Lucy Gets Involved” (1968) ~ At Phil’s Fat Boy Burgers, a policeman (John J. 'Red' Fox) interrogates motorcyclist Tommy Watkins (Phil Vandervoort) with Mr. Burton (Jackie Coogan) overhearing.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and Sid Caesar” (1968) ~  A forger who looks like Sid Caesar is passing bad checks at the bank.  Lucy and Mr. Mooney try to figure out how to tell the real Sid Caesar from the forger.  They enlist the help of the authorities (left to right): Irwin Charrone, John J. ‘Red’ Fox, and Ben Gage.  Gage was mentioned on “I Love Lucy” in 1955. He appeared on “Our Miss Brooks” (filmed at Desilu Studios) and in Desilu’s “Star Trek.”  His last two screen appearances were in “Policewoman” and “Police Story.”

"We all lost our minds, Irwin."
Tumblr media
Dale Midkiff is a good actor. To me anyway. He's mainly in television movies so he isn't well known. I've seen some of the "Love" movies because I'm a fan of "Little House On the Prairie", and wanted to see what Michael Landon, Jr. had in store. They were decent but nothing remarkable. "Elvis & Me" was a big deal from what I've read and heard, but I don't care about watching it. The first time I remember seeing Dale was in "Time Trax" which I watched with my father every week. I didn't recognize him when he played Buck in "A Cry For Help", but the scene of him beating and maiming Nancy McKeon was engrained in my brain. Buck was pure feral. After finding it on Youtube as an adult and watching it again, I considered Dale Midkiff as a very underrated actor.
Tumblr media
Many people may not know Dale Midkiff by name, but many people have seen "Pet Sematary". I tried to watch it every time it was aired on USA. I read the novel when I was eighteen. Since the film didn't explain much about him, it was pleasing to learn why Louis Creed acted so aloof. Unfortnately, most reviewers hate Dale Midkiff's performance. Some say he ruined an otherwise great film. "He was so wooden and always stared off in to space."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well, he did tend to stare in to space. Leading men are usually expected to be charismatic. Louis Creed wasn't that type of man. He wasn't an action hero with clever one-liners. He was a dull person. Wooden. The novel explained that Louis was a secretive person prior to burying Church. The best way to be secretive is keeping things to yourself. That includes controlling those facial expressions. Louis also never wanted to acknowledge the supernatural.
Tumblr media
An example would be the scene of Louis following Jud to the Micmac burial ground, and he hears the demon making noises in the woods. Louis nonchalantly inquires about the sound instead of looking all around him with fear in his eyes. As the two climb the rocks leading to the burial ground, he becomes irritated with Jud and even snaps at him when they reach the summit because he thinks their hike is ridiculous. Louis refused to see there was something abnormal going on.
Tumblr media
After burying Church, Louis's mind was taken over by the demon, The Wendigo, who haunted the woods. King included the evil spirit in a draft script written in 1986. Just like the novel, Jud explained to Louis how The Wendigo was responsible for contaminating the soil of the burial ground, and it played tricks on its victim's mind. The Wendigo even appeared to Louis when he takes Gage's corpse through the woods. Budget constraints cut out the idea of creating the gigantic demon. Although, erasing Jud 's talk of The Wendigo hurt the film. "The ground turned sour." Why though? What's with the hallucinations Rachel and Louis experienced? Why did Jud take Louis to use the burial ground? Why did Louis use it on Rachel after all the carnage? Removing The Wendigo caused the movie to not make sense.
Tumblr media
The emotions spilled out as the film reached its conclusion. You can't say Dale Midkiff seemed wooden after he discovers his resurrected son stole his scapel. Louis kept crumbling more and more with each step he took. Dale Midkiff wasn't a terrible actor in "Pet Sematary". He just played a bland character who was only intriguing when he lost his mind at the very end.

BIOGRAPHY:
Fletcher Barnes was born and raised in Brisbane, Australia. His mother Blair was a psychiatrist, his father a famous painter. He had a fantastic childhood and was very blessed with the life that he had. They lived in a huge house, went on vacations often, and he had everything he could ever imagine. His sister was born when he was two, the pair were inseparable. Due to his father being home all the time since his studio was in his house, they were homeschooled by him.
One thing that Fletcher loved about his father was his creativity and his willingness to let his children explore their creative side. Fletcher couldn’t quite get into painting like his sister did, but he found love for photography. When he was eight, his father bought him a nice camera and was given lessons by his uncle James who was a professional photographer. As he grew, he learned how to take perfect photos, edit just the right way, and position things just how he wanted.
Another memory he has of his father was always going with him to his art shows, helping him set up, taking photos of all of his artwork, and helping him pick out a suitable outfit. The Barnes family more often than not coordinated their outfits with each other at each show they did. He remembers the excitement of all the people flooding in, the snacks him and his sister would snag, and talking to lots of different people. Happiness radiated in the family, and it showed.
But that happiness wouldn’t last long.
When Fletcher was thirteen, he was helping his dad load up their car for his art show that was coming up. His father wasn’t his usual self; he was quiet, reserved, and short with Fletcher and his sister. He wasn’t himself, and Fletcher knew it. But, he still went with him and so did his sister, despite his mother’s plea for them not to go with him. Why did she insist on them not going? He didn’t know, but they went along with him. As they were going down the highway, Fletcher tried talking to his father, but he was stone silent. The car picked up speed, and he felt his father grab his hand tightly. The last thing he remembered was him saying he loved him, then everything went dark.
He woke up in a hospital with his mom by his side, and that’s when she delivered the news to him. Both his father and his sister were dead, and he wrecked the car on purpose to take his life. Fletcher was numb, at first he thought it was a joke, but she was serious. The two most important people, dead. He didn’t cry, he didn’t scream. He just sat there and was numb to the whole situation. He was unable to attend the funeral since both of his legs were broken and he had to do physical therapy.
After spending two months in the hospital, he made a full recovery and went back home. It didn’t feel like home anymore though; it felt like a prison. His mother was in a very dark spot with her depression, she lost her job, and when she was awake, she was drinking. More often than not, he stayed at his grandparents. They had a hold of the will, and it wasn’t to be opened until Fletcher turned eighteen.
He went to public school and graduated with amazing grades, and on his eighteenth birthday, it was time to open the will. He spent his day with his mother who was now a functioning human, and they spent the day opening presents, getting ice cream and going out to eat, then ending the day at his grandparents house where they would open the will. His mother opened the will, and she was shocked and angry. Confused, his grandma took the will from her and she gasped. Fletcher had no idea what was happening until it was then handed to him.
Everything was his. The house, his paintings, his cars, his bank account. He left everything to his son. He sold everything except for two of his dad’s camaros and a painting of him and his sister, and ended up with a very large amount of money. He was hated by his mother and everyone else, so he packed up and left Australia and headed to America. He became a citizen and lived in LA, building up his reputation as a photographer and eventually becoming the most sought out photographer in LA by the time he was twenty three.
He’s photographed fashion shows in Milan, Paris, New York, and London, for magazines like Time, Vogue, Elle, and has even worked on movie sets. Fletcher wanted to get away from LA life, and he decided it was time for a change of pace. He moved to Springhill, New Jersey where he would continue his photography career. He’s lived there for a month, and loves it.

MISCHIEF // ASHTON IRWIN
Summary: Ashton picks Y/N and a friend up from dancing which causes some tension which results in some revenge to be caused.
Length: 1.5K words
Warnings: Tension & slight hints towards sex.
The song fades as you and the other girls finish and walk over to corner of the room to collect their water bottles and other belongings. Small chatter fills the room as everyone packs up and gets ready to leave and continue on with their day.
You were talking with one of her friends when the door to the dance studio opened and Ashton and Calum walked in, giving them a smile and quick wave as you took a sip from your water bottle.
Ashton and Y/N have been best friends since kids so it wasn’t a surprise to anyone when the pair started dating. Ashton and Calum walked over to the small group of girls, Ash giving you a quick hug and peck on the cheek then listening into to the conversation between you and your friend Leah.
You were just about to suggest you guys leave when another dancer called you over to the other side of the room, mumbling a ‘I’ll be back in a sec’ to Ashton who was oblivious that you’d even left his side so concentrated on his conversation with Leah.
After your conversation with the other dancer you walk back over to Leah and the two boys. You hear Leah giggle and compliment Ashton while touching his upper arm as you walk over, slightly frowning at the sight before you but shaking it off as you reach the group.
“Well I better get going if I’m going to make my train” Leah says while collecting her things.
“You’re catching the train home?” Ash questions to which Leah nods her head, pulling her bag onto her shoulder.
“We can just drop you home, if you want” He offers.
“Are you sure? I wouldn’t want to trouble you guys” she questions, looking at the three of you.
“Yeah, it’s on our way home” Ash replies.
You and Calum give each other a look of ‘no, it’s not’ but once again shrugging it off, collecting your things and walking out towards the car park with the everyone.
“Y/N can you sit in the back with Cal?” Ash carelessly asks, not even looking at you while walking ahead of you with Leah.
“Uh okay” You mumble looking down at the ground, only looking up when Cal bumps your shoulder and gives you a small smile, knowing that you’re a little upset due to Ashton’s sudden interest in Leah.
The whole car ride to Leah’s, was filled with Ashton and Leah joking around and what seemed like slight flirting in the front seat while you and Calum just sat in the back seat on your phones.
When the car finally pulled up at Leah’s apartment complex, she turned and faced Ashton, then reached out touched his thigh while saying a quick thank you then hoping out of the car not even saying a goodbye to you or Calum.
Your phone vibrated in your lap with a text from Calum.
‘Are you going to move into the front seat?’assuming he had sensed your annoyed mood towards Ash since getting in the car.
You quickly typed a simple ‘No’ and clicked the send button.
Calum gave you another small smile before climbing out of the back seat and taking the spot Leah was previously in.
Pulling into the driveway of your shared house with the four boys, you collected your stuff and climbed out and following the two boys up to the house.
Once inside you dropped your shoes and walked up the stairs into yours and Ashton’s shared room, locking the door so you wouldn’t be bothered by any of the boys, especially Ashton while you showered and tried to shake the image of Ash and Leah flirting in the car out of your head.
Grabbing your phone and speaker you headed into the bathroom, turning on the hot water and allowing it to steam up a little before turning on some tunes and hoping into the shower.
Deciding to play the somewhat immature card and ignore Ash for the rest of the night, you came up with a plan that would annoy him, almost as much as the car situation had annoyed you.
Hoping out of the shower after washing your hair and body, you wrapped a towel around your body and walk into your bedroom.
Before heading down the stairs you put Ashton’s favouritelingerie set on, a short silk robe that just covered your butt and texted Calum to ask if he would be able to help you with your plan which he responded with an immediate ‘yes’.
Unlocking the bedroom door and walking down the stairs to the lounge room where all the boys were sitting. hearing footsteps coming down the stairs Calum looks up and sees you sending you a wink.
“Hey Y/N” Cal calls as you walk past into the kitchen causing Ash to look up and seeing your current choice of clothing and raising his eyebrows at you when make eye contact. He gets up and follows you into the kitchen.
Feeling his gaze as you bent over to look in the fridge and search for a water bottle. You turn around making eye contact with Ashton who is leaning against the counter in front of you, he starts to open his mouth when you open your drink bottle take a sip, making full eye contact then walking away into the lounge room to sit next to Calum.
After a while of cuddling with Calum as his fingers drew circles on your thigh. You could feel Ashton’s gaze but intentionally ignored it and focused on the discussion of what you all should have for dinner.
All five of you were now all seated around a table digging into the hot pizza that had just arrived. Ashton directly in front of you and Calum beside you, still with his hand resting your hand on your thigh.
As you ate, you would occasionally look over at Ashton, who was already staring back at you, once again raising an eyebrow as if he was trying to or had figured out what you were trying to do.
After everyone finished you collected everyone’s plates and ‘accidentally’ dropped a napkin in front of ash, making sure no one was looking before you quickly bent over and gave him a perfect view of his favourite set underneath your silk robe, then standing up and walking into the kitchen and placing all the dishes in the sink.
“I’m going to go get changed, I’ll be back in a minute.” You called to whoever was listening, mostly Ashton after that little stunt you’d just pulled and slightly running upstairs to your bedroom.
Hearing footsteps following you up the stairs you entered your bedroom and then were suddenly spun around and pressed against the now closed door with Ashton standing in front of you.
“What the hell are you doing?!” he practically growls, stepping back allowing you to move away from the door.
“Getting changed” you shrug, reaching and untying the bow that was keeping your robe together, opening it and letting it drop to the ground, fully revealing the white lace set.
Ashton’s mouth opened, but no words came out. You turn around to walk into your wardrobe and pick out some pyjamas to wear but are then are turned around and pressed up against a wall.
“Don’t stop on my account” He states very slowly leaning in with his mouth pressed right next to your ear.
You raise an eyebrow at him, trying to gage what he’s going to do.
He turns his head and attaches his lips to your neck and begins to leave extremely light kisses down your neck till he reaches your collarbone and pulls away with a smirk and slight chuckle, when he sees your eyes are closed and mouth slightly parted.
You open you your eyes hearing the slight chuckle and stare at him.
“Well I’ll let you get changed.” He says and starts to walk away still with a smirk on his face, when you grab his shirt and pull him in for a kiss which begins to turn into a full blown make out session.
You’re still pushed up against the wall, now with Ashton holding you and your legs wrapped around his waist and your hands in his hair.
His lips are once again on your neck and find their way up to your sweet spot. A moan erupts from your lips and Ashton pulls away,
“Who makes you like this baby?” He smirks
‘Let’s cause some mischief’ you think to yourself.
“Calum does” You respond making direct eye contact with him as you say it.
“Oh, you’re in for it darling” he says carrying you over to the bed and dropping you.

Lucy and Sid Caesar
S6;E23 ~ March 4, 1968
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Synopsis
A forger who looks like Sid Caesar is passing bad checks at the bank. Lucy and Mr. Mooney try to figure out how to tell the real Sid Caesar from the forger.
Regular Cast
Lucille Ball (Lucy Carmichael), Gale Gordon (Theodore J. Mooney)
Roy Roberts (Harrison Winfield Cheever) and Mary Jane Croft (Mary Jane Lewis) do not appear in this episode, although Lucy does mention her 'girlfriend,' which probably refers to Mary Jane.
Guest Cast
Tumblr media
Sid Caesar (Himself / Frankie the Forger) is probably best remembered for “Your Show of Shows” which aired on NBC from 1950 to 1954.  He was often teamed with comedy partner Imogene Coca. Caesar was nominated for a 1963 Tony Award for appearing in the musical Little Me. He appeared with Lucille Ball (and Tim Herbert) in the 1967 film A Guide for the Married Man. He died in 2014 at the age of 91.
Tumblr media
Jack Collins (Rocky) appeared with Sid Caesar on a 1953 episode of “Texaco Star Theatre” starring Milton Berle. He will also appear in the next (and final) “Lucy Show” as well as making six appearances on “Here's Lucy.”
Rocky seems to be the manager of a restaurant but is also taking bets on horses in his office in the back.  Since he is also consorting with a known forger, we can assume he is supposed to be a criminal.
Tumblr media
Irwin Charrone (Security Guard) makes the last of his five appearances on “The Lucy Show.” The expressive character actor also did an equal number of “Here’s Lucy” episodes. He died in January 2016 in Maplewood, New Jersey, at the age of 93.
Tumblr media
Tim Herbert (Waiter) was born Herbert Timberg in 1914. In 1944 he appeared on Broadway in the Jackie Gleason revue Follow the Girls. This is the last of his three appearances on “The Lucy Show.” He also did one episode of “Here’s Lucy” in 1968. He appeared with Lucille Ball and Sid Caesar in A Guide for the Married Man in 1967 and with Caesar in a 1985 episode of “Amazing Stories.”
Tumblr media
Sid Gould (Waiter) made more than 45 appearances on “The Lucy Show,” all as background characters. He also did 40 episodes of “Here’s Lucy.” Gould (born Sydney Greenfader) was Lucille Ball’s cousin by marriage to Gary Morton.
Tumblr media
Carole Cook (Gladys) played Thelma Green on the series when it was set in Danfield. She was a protege of Lucille Ball’s during the Desilu Playhouse years. Although born as Mildred Cook, Ball suggested she take the name Carole, in honor of Lucy’s great friend, Carole Lombard. Cook also went on to appear in five episodes of “Here’s Lucy.”
Gladys is a teller in the Westland Bank.
Tumblr media
John J. 'Red' Fox (Policeman) was best known for playing policemen, which is what he did on five of his eight appearances on “The Lucy Show” as well as three of his five episodes of “Here’s Lucy.”
Tumblr media
Ben Gage (Policeman) makes the second of his two appearances on the series. Gage was once married to Hollywood swimming starlet Esther Williams. His first screen appearance was as an uncredited swimmer in her 1954 film Dangerous When Wet. Their names were mentioned as attending Lucy and Ricky’s Mocambo anniversary party in “Hollywood Anniversary” (ILL S4;E23).
Tumblr media
Remo Pisani (Bank Customer) was a stunt man and actor making the second of his two appearances on the series. He was born in New Jersey in 1919 and died there in 2004.
Although Lucy says the customer's last name, it is unintelligible over the underscoring that opens the scene.
Don Anderson (Bank Customer) will also appear in the next (and final) “Lucy Show” as well as making three appearances on “Here's Lucy.”
George DeNormand (Bank Extra, uncredited) appeared in three films with Lucille Ball from 1937 to 1963. This is the just one of his many appearances on “The Lucy Show” and “Here’s Lucy.”
Joan Carey (Bank Extra, uncredited) was one of the few people (outside the principal cast) to appear on all of Lucille Ball’s sitcoms, mostly as background, but eventually taking on being Ball’s camera and lighting stand-in as well.
Tumblr media
Monty O'Grady (Bank Extra, uncredited) was first seen with Lucille Ball in The Long, Long Trailer (1953) and played a passenger on the S.S. Constitution in “Second Honeymoon” (ILL S5;E14). He was a traveler at the airport when “The Ricardos Go to Japan”(1959). He made a dozen appearances on the series and a half dozen more on “Here’s Lucy.”
James Gonzales (Bank Extra, uncredited) was a popular Hollywood extra who first acted with Lucille Ball in the 1953 film The Long, Long Trailer. He was previously seen on the series as Stan Williams in “Lucy Digs Up a Date” (S1;E2). He was seen in more than 20 episodes of “The Lucy Show” and 3 episodes of “Here’s Lucy.”
Renita Reachi (Bank Extra, undredited) was a costumer for “The Lucy Show” from 1966 to 1968. She was also Vivian Vance’s camera and lighting stand-in for “I Love Lucy” and “The Lucy Show.” She was a costumer and/or made crowd appearances on “Here’s Lucy” and the Lucille Ball films Yours, Mine and Ours (1968) and Mame (1974).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On November 17, 1962 Lucille Ball attended the Broadway opening of Little Me starring Sid Caesar. It was the second musical written by Cy Coleman and Carolyn Leigh, who had previously written Wildcat for Lucy. Based on the novel by Patrick Dennis (who also authored the book, play, and musical Auntie Mame, which Lucy would film in 1974), Little Me had a book by Neil Simon and was directed by Cy Feuer and Bob Fosse. Hedda Hopper wrote about Lucy’s attendance,
“Her laugher rang out above the whole audience at the ‘Little Me’ opening.”
Little Me ran for 257 performances at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.
Tumblr media
When this episode first aired, Little Me was being produced at the Sahara in Las Vegas starring Donald O’Connor, Yvonne DeCarlo, and Paula Stewart. Paula had played Lucy’s sister in Wildcat. Lucy saw Little Me again with this cast and when Donald O’Connor co-starred in her 1980 special, “Lucy Moves to NBC”, he too serenaded her with “Real Live Girl!”
Tumblr media
The evening this episode first aired (March 4, 1968) Sid Caesar's former TV comedy partner Imogene Coca appeared on “The Carol Burnett Show.”
Much of the comedy in this episode is left to Sid Caesar. Unfortunately, Caesar is struggling with alcoholism which he will eventually overcome in the 1970s. Consequentially, the comedy feels sluggish and Caesar has little success in differentiating the two characters except by their wardrobe.
Tumblr media
Lucy (Carter) mentions that she saw Sid Caesar in Little Me and convinces him to sing “Real Live Girl” from the show.
Tumblr media
Striving to stay thin to resemble Sid Caesar, Frankie the Forger wishes he looked like Jackie Gleason instead. TV star comedian Jackie Gleason was known for his corpulent frame. He will make a wordless cameo appearance on “Here's Lucy” in the fall of 1968.
Mr. Mooney takes Lucy and 'Sid Caesar' to lunch at the Lafayette Men's Club.
Tumblr media
After turning himself in to the police via telephone, a starving Frankie the Forger orders pork chops, a squab stuffed with oyster dressing, a turkey, lasagna, black-eyed peas, candied yams, corn pone, Virginia hams, hot bread, turnip beans, fat back, and Lima beans!  He is paraphrasing the lyrics to the song “That's What I Like About the South” written by Andy Razlaf in 1942. The song was notably covered by Phil Harris in 1947. Harris was a recent guest star on “The Lucy Show.”
Callbacks!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Celebrity guests playing their own look-alikes was previously done in “Lucy and Robert Goulet” (S6;E8) and “Lucy Dates Dean Martin” (S4;E21) where both stars did double duty.  Lucille Ball will play herself and Lucy Carter in a 1974 episode of “Here's Lucy.”
Blooper Alerts!
Jane of All Trades! Lucy is still doing double duty as Mr. Mooney's secretary and a bank teller. Lucy was also cashing checks in “Lucy Helps Ken Berry” (S6;E21).
Tumblr media
Out of Print! Because she fears doing math, Lucy wants to cash Sid Caesar's check by giving him a single $1,000 bill. The US stopped printing the $1,000 bill by 1946, but they continued in circulation until the Federal Reserve recalled them in 1969. It is highly unlikely that a bank would be distributing them in 1968.
Counting Conundrum! In this episode, Lucy suddenly cannot do simple math. Although Lucy's education is sketchy, we saw her at a college reunion and getting her high school diploma (in that order!), so basic addition should not be all that difficult. Lucy refuses to use the tabulator (aka adding machine) because she fears being replaced by a machine.
Tumblr media
Playbill Problem! Lucy says the song “Real Live Girl” is from Act Two of Little Me, but in fact the song is in Act One.
Tumblr media
“Lucy and Sid Caesar” rates 2 Paper Hearts out of 5

the gyllenlykke family.
please note: pixie's mother and siblings are all part-veela and therefore require 2500 points to create. those of us who have characters in this plot already will donate points as we can to anyone who might want to snag a character in this family as their first! theodore gyllenlykke [56]. half-swedish, half-australian. spent most of his childhood living in the sweden, but when he was in his late teens, he moved to his mother's hometown in australia. after marrying and having children, theo and his family immigrated to the states some years later to assist with the intensive protection program happening at s.p.a.c.e. he's adventurous, outgoing and deeply caring of all living things. he's basically wizard steve irwin, and i hella imagine him as the head of the cryptozoology department as long as no one else gets there first. steve carell. taken by liinen. aino gyllenlykke [52-58]. finnish. half-veela. emigrated to australia with her father after her veela mother abandoned them in her childhood. aino is kind-hearted, soft-spoken and overwhelmingly gentle. never one to abuse her powers or intentionally take advantage of anyone, she's the perfect role model for her girls and the perfect foil to her husband's ridiculous antics, helping to keep him (and their entire family) grounded in reality. suggested face: famke janssen, mary-louise parker, robin wright. puck gyllenlykke [30]. too much like his father for his own good. too much like his twin sister for his own good. when puck and pixie get together - which they usually are - there's nearly always trouble coming behind them. like pixie, he was seven when they moved to silver pines from australia. suggested face: jack falahee, joshua sasse, theo james. echo gyllenlykke [27]. echo got a lot of the same fire and spunk as pixie - but unlike her oldest sister, echo actually tends to be productive with her energy. she's a vegan and an environmentalist and is always caught up in one movement or another from both the muggle and wizarding worlds a like, dedicating herself to making the world a better place. she was four when they moved to silver pines. suggested face: anna speckhart, carlson young, gabriella wilde. fauna gyllenlykke [25]. of all of the girls, fauna has always been the one most interested in her abilities as a part veela. she's very feminine and flirts with basically anyone to get her way, and has been known to take advantage of people from time to time using the power of her wiles. they moved to the us when she was two. suggested face: danielle campbell, freya tingley, gage golightly. avalon gyllenlykke [22]. most like their mother out of all of them, ava is gentle and kind and would do literally anything for anyone who asked, any time, no matter what or when. she was born one year after they moved to silver pines. suggested face: ariel winter, ciara bravo, natalia dyer. bryony gyllenlykke [19]. briar has a bit more of a balanced personality than pixie but is still known for going a bit wild from time to time and certainly does her best to keep up with her eldest siblings as much as she can. she was born five years after they left australia. maisie williams. taken by ashy.

Examination of fractured test specimens led to the observation that the crack faces had moved apart prior to fracture, due to the blunting of an initially sharp crack by plastic deformation. The degree of crack blunting increased in proportion to the toughness of the material. Irwin later postulated that crack-tip plasticity makes the crack behave as if it were slightly longer. Thus, estimation of CTOD can be done by solving for the displacement at the physical crack tip. CTOD is a single parameter that accommodates crack tip plasticity. It is easy to measure when compared with techniques such as J integral. It is a fracture parameter that has more physical meaning than the rest. However, the equivalence of CTOD and J integral is proven only for non-linear materials, but not for plastic materials. It is hard to expand the concept of CTOD for large deformations. It is easier to calculate J-integral in case of a design process using finite element method techniques. A CTOD test is usually done on materials that undergo plastic deformation prior to failure. The testing material more or less resembles the original one, although dimensions can be reduced proportionally. Loading is done to resemble the expected load. More than 3 tests are done to minimize any experimental deviations. The dimensions of the testing material must maintain proportionality. The specimen is placed on the work table and a notch is created exactly at the centre. The crack should be generated such that the defect length is about half the depth. The load applied on the specimen is generally a three-point bending load. A type of strain gauge called a crack-mouth clip gage is used to measure the crack opening. The critical load and strain gauge measurements at the load are noted and a graph is plotted. The crack tip opening can be calculated from the length of the crack and opening at the mouth of the notch. According to the material used, the fracture can be brittle or ductile which can be concluded from the graph. Early experiments used a flat, paddle-shaped gauge that was inserted into the crack; as the crack opens, the paddle gauge rotates and an electronic signal is sent to an x—y plotter. This method was inaccurate, however, because it was difficult to reach the crack tip with the paddle gauge. Today, the displacement V at the crack mouth is measured and the CTOD is inferred by assuming that the specimen halves are rigid and rotate about a hinge point. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. From The Outside//Ashton Irwin
From the outside you’d be forgiven for thinking Luke and I are dating especially if you saw us on a night out when he’s defending me from creepy older men, giving me his jacket to keep me warm or giving me a piggy back to the taxi because my heels are killing my feet. But from the outside things always look different.
I pull my Nike sports bag onto my shoulder trudging over to where the taxi is waiting for me “The Capitol please” I instruct taxi diver to the hotel Luke and his band mates including my boyfriend of three months Ashton are staying. It’s about 20:00 in the evening when I arrived at the hotel just enough time for me to shower and freshen up before we head to the boys concert. I pull my black skinny jeans in as well as a yellow low cut tie shirt. I meet the boys in the lobby taking Ashton’s hand in mine he places a kiss on the side of my head whispering “you look beautiful “ I smile at him hitting Luke when he silent pretends to gage “grow up Lucas!” I scold him laughing lightly. I notice the grip on Ashton’s hand tighten as we walk out the hotel greeted by a swarm of fans and paparazzi shouting things that are mostly incoherent “oi Y/N who you dating this week Luke or Ashton?” I make out turning my head in the direction it came from glaring sharply at the person looking up at Ashton’s I notice his jaw has tensed “(your and Luke’s ship name) a couple of fans shout” I try desperately to block them out sensing Ashton getting more and more worked up over them. “You okay?” I rub his arm when we’re in the car but he pulls over “Ash..” I try my voice soft and quiet but he turns away putting headphones on. I sigh heavily turning towards Luke shrugging Luke places his hand on mine rubbing it reassuring mouthing “give him space” perhaps more aware of what Ashton is upset about than I am. It is only a shirt drive to the venue and as always I am blown away by the amount of fans already lined up and waiting “wow” Michael breathes out as the queue of fans wraps down the street “that is insane. You are four very lucky boys” I comment smiling to myself “damn right we are” Calum smiles undoing his seatbelt as the car comes to a stop. I glance over at Ashton who’s music is playing loudly from his headphones I can hear it from where I’m sat, his brows furrowed in frustration. I climb out followed by Ashton, “he just needs a few minutes, it’s nothing you’ve done” Michael tells me as we walk towards the venue “IDs please” the security guard asks us the boys and crew present theirs “Ashton mine’s in your bag” I try talking to him but he doesn’t hear. So instead I reach into his rucksack myself pulling it before showing it to the servility guard “Y/N that’s a pretty name” I smile at him thanking him before following Luke into the venue. “What a pretty name” Luke mocks I slap his arm lightly shutting him up.
The dressing room is the same as all the others bare, bland somehow full and empty at the same time. Ashton takes his headphones off but when I call his name he ignores me yet again I sigh heavily turning to leave. I glance back at Ashton who is currently changing tops. I leave the dressing room admitting defeat and walking towards the stage. I stand on the stage looking out at the sea of thousands of seats soon to be filled with doting fans. I jump down of the stage when the crew come on to begin setting up for the performance.  “Every-time you do that I can just picture you breaking something” Sam the new Irish guitar I laugh muttering a sorry before heading over to a seat a few rows up.  I glance down at my jeans replaying the whole situation with Ashton again and again.
If it wasn’t for the loud thump of Ashton jumping from the stage to the floor I glance up the boy smiling at me, his hands stuffed awkwardly into his jean pockets. “I don’t know how you do that” Ashton tries with me referring it the jump from stage to floor. “I did gymnastics Ashton” I tell him flatly. “Okay so you’re mad?” He questions “I’m not mad, just pissed off that you’ve been off recently without any proper meaning” I huff and Ashton sits down next to me. “It’s not you it’s me recently fans and everyone’s being saying that you and Luke would be so cute together and warier it just got to me. I’ve lost so many girls to Luke I can’t loose you to” my heart breaks for Ashton at his honest confession. “Ashton you are never going to loose me, you’re the one I want” I kiss Ashton’s lips “you silly I don’t want Luke he’s like my brother and you know that. You on the other hand are the person I wanna wake up next to everyday” I kiss his lips again. “Even when we’re grey and old?” He pouts, I turn my head to the side “we’ll have to see about that” I joke and we both laugh, his laugh soothing all the tension from before as the most pleasant sound floats around the venue “I think I’ll love you even more when we’re old and grey” I pause “this is where it gets cheesy” I joke wrapping my arms round his neck “cause I fall more and more in love with you everyday” Ashton smirks to himself before locking our lips together in s deep, passionate kiss.
