I’m glad it's Friday.

I'm glad, and a little stoked, that the Dodgers won the World Series. I became a fan back in ‘81 when they won the World Series. I remember pitcher Fernando Venzuela (RIP). He was great.

My brother and his family went to see the team play at Dodgers Stadium when they won the pennant. I wish I would have been there.

I'm glad the cool weather has finally arrived.

I had fun at my cousin’s annual Halloween celebration. 500+ kids showed up, and still we ran out of candy. I swear the amount increases each year.

The latest book:

This was an excellent read. Some of the things that I've learned is that grit isn't just about hard work and it's not about having talent. It's about having passion and perseverance. The author has conducted a lot of research on the subject. She shares a lot of stories that illustrate grit from people such as Irving Wallace, William Buffett, Will Smith, and others. There's even a grit scale you can do to find out how much grit you have. My grit is 3.8, which is the mid range. If you score 5, that is the grittiest. One thing is certain; I had a lot more grit when I was younger.

TV Action:

I've been watching Tracker and I can't wait for season 2 of Elsbeth. For awhile I was hooked on the doc series Living off the Grid. It's about people that build their homes out in the middle of nowhere. Homes like log cabins, A-frame homes, homes underground, earth ship homes, yurts, shipping containers, tree houses, homes made out of mud, etc.

Life has been good. I can't complain.

#QSLfriday KFJM was launched in 1923 by the University of North Dakota, one of the first college radio stations in the United States. According to the Morning Pioneer (Oct. 22, 1923), the weekly programs would include “musical organizations from the University, Wesley College and the City of Grand Forks,” as well as “addresses and lectures by University men and noted speakers from the outside.”

North Dakota is the only state with a state-owned flour mill, “home of the famous Dakota Maid flour, cereals and commercial feeds. Located in Grand Forks, it is the largest flour mill in the United States. In 1938, when this QSL was sent, the “Dakota Maid is on the Air” program was heard over KFJM twice a week, hosted by one Col. Irving “Speed” Wallace – a world traveler, flier, and author.
