Okay, so this is a lil short, but kinda like I did when I wrote that investigation team!Minato fic, I thought it’d be fun to see the relationship from the outside here. Partially because I want to practice writing Yukari/the other sees a little bit for more juicy AU work, but also just so I had a better way to fully describe my beloved monster form for my husbando lmao. And even then I don’t feel like I did him justice. But! I hope what I DID do was write an entertaining snippet!

Bang, bang, bang, bang. “Minato! Are you in there?” Yukari Takeba called as she banged on the door of one of Mitsuru’s many guest rooms. “Mina, you have to the count of three before I open this damned door and drag you out of bed, we are notdoing this crap again!” She warned when the only response she got was the soft sound of something shuffling around within. And, she kept her word. After she mentally counted to three, she threw the door open to drag Minato out of bed, Ryoji be damned.

However, she only got two steps into the spacious bedroom before the permanent thin grin of Nyx had her backed against the wall like some dread-inducing guard dog. So close that she could almost see the reflection of her tear-filled hazel eyes in the large, snow-colored porcelain face. “Ryoji.” Minato said in boredom, his voice still thick with sleep as if the monster’s noxious air of dread wasn’t so heavy in the air that it lingered, even when the ebony-haired monster retracted his neck back to a human length.

“Why do you want me up so badly, Yukari?” The wildcard asked her after that, his storm-cloud eyes stuck in a glare as he watched her try to get her heart rate under control once more so that she could drink in the sight before her.

The first thing that she could spot between deep, steadying breaths was that the king-sized bed had been layered and covered with eclectic, colorful pillows that ranged from emoji-shaped pillows to the cushions from the second floor’s sitting room. Next, she managed to move her hazel eyes up to examine the massive monster that laid like a regal lion amongst those pillows and squishmallows. The swept-back raven hair, the malicious stare of the effeminate mask, the obsidian-colored, feather-dotted skin that clung to the humanoid upper body that somehow transitioned down into bird legs that jutted and hung off of the spacious bed with massive talons that could slice through Yukari’s bones like hot butter, she was sure.

Finally, with her heart in her throat and Ryoji’s territorial hatred like a plastic bag over her head, she did her best to look over the four massive wings that almost swallowed that nest of humorously mismatched pillows beneath their span so that she could look at the groggy wildcard dressed in Ryoji’s baggy, white button-up shirt that was protectively nestled into the elbow of the god’s powerful, irredescent primary wings. “U-uh...Aigis was getting antsy, and didn’t want you to miss breakfast. She sent me up to wake you up.” She finally managed, her other questions squashed and strangled by the dark glower that she could feel burn into her as she watched Minato’s eyes roll.

And, without any fear, he put his hand on the masked monster’s emaciated ribs to finally break his stare away from the brunette woman. “Ugh, fine. I’ll be down in a minute. You’d better leave, though. I don’t think Mochi would appreciate you seeing me pantsless.” He said in what she may have judged to be a bit of humor if Yukari hadn’t felt like a rabbit cornered by a wolf. She’d surely think about it more later, but at the moment, the persona user quickly did as she was told without a second longer spent in that bedroom. Yet, even once she was halfway down the hallway, she could still feel Ryoji’s predatory gaze on her lightly tanned skin God, never waking them up again. FUCK that.

My Keychains from the lovely @avaetin arrived in the mail today! I didn't realize they would have this scaly irredescent finish on them. It turns rainbow colors when it catches the light right and it's a little visible on Nico in this photo. (love that for him 🖤🏳️‍🌈)

I'm thinking I'll put Nico on my backpack, and then Hazel on my Keychain since I already have Ikimaru's Nico there 😅

What are some headcanons for Rena?

GENERAL RENA INFO

Rena is a high class drone in the hive, third overall after Lyith and Haven. About a third of the hive is female, and even rarer are female drones, so Rena was seen as somewhat of a blessing when she was able to be classified.

Renas speciality is Manipulation Magic. While most Beeman can use telepathy to an extent on other creatures, Bee-men with her speciality are so attuned to the emotions and feelings of living things, that they can even pick up on the mental state of plants. I read somewhere that plants can actually sense a lot of what is going on around them, and let off scents or chemicals through their roots to communicate when in danger. Rena is attuned to such minute emotions. The reason she is in charge of so many of the gardens is because she is able to keep the plants happy enough to bloom often and past season.

Rena also has many freinds amongst the guards, often sparing with them. She is mediocre when it comes to combat, but her tenacity often surprises her opponents. She also has a few freinds amongst the beastmen, despite her contrarian and blunt nature.

While sparring is her main hobby, she is also a scholar amongst the Bee-men. The hive has something of a mental library of memories. This mental space is only able to be accessed while inside the hive, using the hive magic. Magic in itself is so vital to the nature of bee-men that it is her main topic of study. Many of the Bee-men can add memory to the mental library if they feel they have experienced something historical or noteworthy. As such, combing through memory can be an arduous task in the library, and Lyith often helps her in her research, depending on whatever topic has piqued her interest.

I purposefully wrote my bee-men to be a little vague in descript to fit the preferences of the reader but in my mind Rena is a perfect 2 thirds human to 1 Bee. She is flat chested like most Beeman, but her fuzz is mostly golden with only the occasional stripe of black. She has two sets of hands with alternating colors, though her fingertips are mostly black as well..

Her shoulder length hair is black and coily. Her wings are long and irredescent, like a fairies wings. Her legs, like most Beeman are slightly bent at the joint, giving an insect/satyr sort of silhouette. She also has a smaller insect abdomen jutting out behind her than most. Fluff covers most of the body, and she holds the common opinion that human clothes are tedious. As such, she doesn't go out to the human town often, as clothing is often worn to blend in there.

QUEEN RELATED INFO

After you became her Queen, Rena's priorities shifted a bit. She doesn't always mean it, but she has a habit of taking the harsh edges off your emotions. "So you can think better," she reasons to herself. But a small part of her delights in being able to take care of you in such an intimate way.

When she is not verbally, or physically teasing you, she is quite the cuddly bee, and gets jealous when others interrupt her time with you. Jealousy is not necessarily a natural emotion for Bee-men, but Rena can't help herself. You are just so interesting! And if she can flustered you even a little, her day has been made.

I've hinted to it a few times in my chapters, but Rena DOES have some aphrodisiac laced in her fluids, that she can ramp up or down at will through her magic. This is not a rare trait among drones, but it DOES change the taste of her fluids to something a bit more savory then her normal sweet.

These jellyfish earrings give off the perfect summer vibes! They are jointed so the tentacles move and sway as you do. I find them very relaxing to work on and get to use my fancy paints on them. Each jelly is brushed with an interference paint to add a little extra sparkle and a glossy glaze.

If you could make any object edible, what object would you pick and what would it taste/feel like?

I'd eat towels. Make them a mix between cotton candy and marshmallow in texture but the flavor would be mildly sweet with a fruity-nutty flavor. I think strawberry pistachio would be yummy.

Damn, that does sound tasty ...

I would make CDs and DVDs edible. With a texture and taste like a crunchy cookie (or biscuit, if you prefer), except with notes of a lot of different tropical fruits mixed in (because of the irredescent shine they have).

Today's beast; a dragon based on the Beanie Baby, Magic! My friend had one when I was a kid, and I absolutely coveted her. I thought she was beautiful.

She was made as a partner piece with Scortch, so where he had some quartz to match with her colours, I gave her a beach stone to match with his.

They both share a little heart hoard as well, but it's the stones that really tie them together.

I used a clay that includes irredescent foil to imitate that beautiful crinkly fabric they used on her wings, and gave hers a little bit of a feathery texture. Her wings always read a bit angelic to me.

Ooooh toughhhh in terms of like looks and vibes I love love love any of the shiny irredescent beetles :]] but in terms of insects i actually see probably ground beetles. They're really cute and always look Ike they have a job to do :]
