We start in the very first episode, the pilot.

Look 1:

Our first glimpse of our leading lady is when she’s watching the particle accelerator be turned on. Though it’s nothing especially exciting, I love this look. All of it feels like it couldn’t be worn separately- which is very, very Iris. Yes, she can be impulsive and emotional, but at the same time, she doesn’t make a move without considering everything, and such details are woven into her outfits.

I love her moto jacket!! I REALLY wish she got to repeat it in the show. Wornontv informs me that it’s the Montesson Jacket in Navy Marine/Everest by Wilfred.  It’s gorgeous on her. The dark purple and red combo looks great. 

In future, the purple and red would reflect Barry and Iris as a superhero power couple so while I’m sure it was unintentional, A+ for unintentional foreshadowing with Iris’ outfit. Also the fact that it goes so well with Barry’s outfit? Soulmates.  

Candice said that Iris rarely wears flat shoes and this is reflective in the Pilot where she starts off by running in heeled ankle boots.

Not pictured, but she also has cute little red bracelets and studded earrings which look great, not overpowering her look but adding to it. And this is the first time she wears rings! Rings are Iris’ go to accessory throughout the series so it’s neat to see where it all started! Unfortunately, I can’t find where to find them. 

Also love the bag with her psych dissertation in it. For as much as Iris ribs Barry about his nerdiness, she is SUCH a nerd. Yes, Iris, the particle accelerator unveiling is the best place to work on your dissertation and not something you could go back to when you get home!

Look 2:

Not much of a look- it was very briefly shown but it looks like casual wear. Which is very exciting- we don’t get to often see her casual garb this season! Looks like a pink top, green or black jacket and grey pants. A chaotic colour combination that is more chaotic than others, but still looks good on her. 

This is probably due to the fact that this is one of the most chaotic moments of her life so far- her best friend just got struck by lightning.

Look 3:

Not many pics since this is one of her most recurring outfits, so you’ll def see it again! It is the Wilfred Free LISIÈRE DRESS in CRS Dye/Mykonos BL. I think it’s one of her simplest looks of the season. 

She’s grieving Barry, but she has to get to work, smile and be friendly and that is reflected in her costuming. I love that her necklace is off centre- her head doesn’t seem to be tilted and the shot is straight. Off centre necklaces are Iris’ thing in early s1 and honestly, I wish they would make a comeback. 

Look 4:

In her next Jitters scene, she wears an army green jacket, a red floral dress (Talula: Lipinski Dress), burgundy tights and of course, heeled ankle boots. There was…a lot in this outfit lmao. I love the jacket- the gold accents, the scalloped back, the collar. 

It’s a very cute dress too! And I love the way scoop necks look on her. The daisy necklace is adorable and matches the dress. Still, very cute and very fitting for the outfit. I love the silhouette of her outfit, too.

Look 5

This look is cute and I’m so surprised it only has .4 seconds of screentime considering it was the main promotional look.

Regardless, it’s a short reddish purple dress which is a really unusual shade for her in that she doesn’t get to wear it that frequently. Which is a shame, she looks great in it. She also has a bracelet which looks gold and red in the photoshoots. I’m unsure if she wears it in the show, given the short amount of time she’s in it. 

And another off center necklace! Another circular necklace though this one has points. I originally thought it was a locket but no. just a circle.

A baby Iris flashback! This look reappears in 3x21…appears? It’s a pink and white dressing gown with flowers on it and white pyjamas with details on it. 

It’s really cute but I can’t get over how close the West family home set looks to Barry’s lab set. Also Barry’s  perspective with Iris glowing golden is very, very cute.

DEETED LOOK 2

This doesn’t seem to have Iris vibes to it which might be why this is only in a “blink and you miss it” scene in the trailer. She rarely wears polo collars, and she very rarely wears burgundy and black.  That being said, she looks cute.

Elseworlds Addendum - The Flash (Barry Allen)

Barry Allen was a forensic scientist who worked for the Central City Police Department.  Late one night when he was at his lab, a freak lightning bolt struck a nearby shelf dousing Allen with a strange concoction of unnamed chemicals.  In some bizarre fashion, the result was that Allen could connect to ‘The Speed Force.’  

As such, he could now run at supersonic speed, had matching reflexes and could heal rapidly from injury.  Furthermore, this Speed Force also protected Allen from the frictional velocity of moving at such extreme speeds.  With these newfound powers, Allen donned a crimson bodysuit sporting a lightning bolt and dubbed himself ‘The Flash’ becoming a crimefighter patrolling the streets of Central City.  

The Flash would go on to help form the first iteration of The Justice League and also married his longterm girlfriend Iris West.  Allen perished in a valiant effort to save the multiverse during the Crisis of Infinite Earths; at which point his former sidekick, Wally West, stepped in to become the new Flash.  Allen returned from the dead several years later thanks to some complex machination of The Speed Force.  Reassuming the mantle of The Flash, Allen returned to protecting his city and serving on The Justice League. 

Wally West was the main Flash of DC Comics at the time that the Justice League animated series debuted.  As such, Wally became The Flash of the DCAU continuity (with elements of Barry Allen’s backstory incorporated into Wally’s character).  Although a colleague of Wally’s at the Central City Police Department who resembled Barry did make a cameo in the Justice League Unlimited episode, ‘Flash and Substance.’ 

The Barry Allen version of The Flash first appeared in the pages of Showcase #4 (1956).

Heh — now I’m doing Barry and Iris…

So for anyone who cares, I was doing a lot of thinking about Iris and how to design/write her, and… *takes deep breath* okay, gonna be completely honest here… I find Iris to be boring in her basic description and original design. Come on, she’s basically just red-head Lois Lane. Same job, even. So, here’s what I was thinking: first off, I’m going back to her pre-52 situation where she was adopted by her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. West, and has two adoptive siblings. She, in this version, would be of Puerto Rican decent, while her adoptive family carries the red-head gene, thus keeping Wally West the lovable ginger we know him as. (Where my Young Justice peeps at?!) Secondly, her job. This kinda just came out of nowhere as I was designing the character, but: fashion designer. Her father is this brilliant scientist, yada yada yada, and she’s kinda sick of the nerdy stuff. She wants to pursue this avenue of art instead. But then, when she meets Barry, and he reveals his secret identity to her, she realises that if he’s gonna be a superhero, he’s gotta have a super suit, and while she brings the ace design skills, he brings the science skills that help keep the suit from, you know, burning up under immense friction. Iris, naturally, hates this at first “You’re tainting my fashion with your science!” XD but over time it brings them closer together, and in the future, she goes on to spearhead the super suit design for all kinds of supers.

So, darlings…. What do we think?

I saw on a recent post that you are accepting headcanons in your asks. Heres mine:

I have a hc that speedsters get temporary hearing loss and/or tinnitus when they break the sound barrier. The West family even uses ASL and certains signals to show the others that they cant hear. An example would be: Wally decided to take an extra lap around the world on his way to Barry and Iris’s from school. He accidentally broke the sound barrier and now everything is muffled. He enters the West-Allen home and signs to the couple “cannot hear, ran too fast” and they both instantly start signing. Wally talks about his day while they all wait for his speedster healing to heal his eardrums. Wally starts to hear loud ringing before he can hear again.

Bonus: Barry and Wally never really told anyone about this and sometimes during mission debrief he has to lipread. Miscommunication ensues.

This hc comes from a medical condition I have. It caused me to go through “episodes” where I get really loud ringing in my ear or complete silence or both. This can happen to either ear at any time (sometimes both ears). These episodes last anywhere from 30 min to 3 days. Recently they’ve been around 2-4hrs tho. In that time I rely on lipreading and sign language. And in typical rainy-day707 fashion, I felt the need to project my life onto my favorite characters. Hence speedsters getting temporary hearing loss.

Immediately absorbing this into my own personal canon. Will be thinking about it for the next 3 hours

I just don’t think they can be as badass as Lian and Mari. They come from two badass super families and Milagro is just one of the few thousand GL and irey can run super fast

Right, so I again am assuming you’re coming from a good place. So I’m going to explain from my perspective why I think they’re badasses.

In terms of Comic Milagro, you’re right, we don’t know much about her. Hell, she’s not even a lantern as far as I’m aware. However. In my cannon, she became a lantern at 10 years old. She was forced into this life, but that gives her a clarity to point out the bullshit Legacy heroes don’t notice.

Like someone calling her friend a slur in front of a group of adults that have done nothing to protect said friend. She’ll take the ‘disciplinary action’ for breaking the asshole’s nose.

She might be one of many GL, but her ring is not the only thing she does as a hero. She learned how to fix essentially all the iconic vehicles driven by various league members and assisted in the redesign of multiple hero uniforms. More than that, and yes this is very important, she is a latina girl. Yes, we have Jessica Cruz, but think of how little kids look up to teenagers. She comes from a normal family. But she’s a hero. She. Is. A. Hero. And she doesn’t look like me, I’m a white girl, I can find heroes that look me, but not everyone has that luxury. Think about the shot in the Blue Beetle Trailer of the little boy seeing Jaime. It. Matters.

I, personally, designed her character to break the stereotype of how “Badass Women” should look. Not sure what I mean? Look at any action movie, superhero show/movie, etc and tell me how the Heroines are dressed. How many are in a tank top/plain shirt, leather jacket, jeans, and some kind of boot (combat or low heeled)? How many have that Pretty Woman moment of “look how nice I clean up which everyone will comment on”? Her femininity, her love of fashion and knitting and telenovelas and all the other feminine things are things I never see “Badass women do.”

Femininity and Badassery are not part of a dichotomy.

Miss Iris Anne West II’s family is full of scientists and reporters. Frankly more badass than either the Bats or the Arrows because they don’t have a huge fortune to fall back on. Her Great Uncle was hit by lightning. Her father gave himself powers at 12 years old (give or take) by recreating the experiment of said Great Uncle. Her family has created and destroyed and changed so many timelines. Their rogues have one of the strictest codes of honor compared to every other Villian. In the old Justice League Cartoon, Wally didn’t even have to fight his bad guy! Just told him to go to jail after having a conversation about the guy being off his meds and why it’s important he take them.

And circling back—Her family being full of reporters and scientists gives her both highly inquisitive mind and the skills to answer her questions. Knowing the difference between The Truth and The Story was drilled into her from birth. The Story is what everyone says happened in order to make the facts fit nice and neat. The Truth is what actually happened, regardless of it being “neat”. Do you know how hard it can be to hold thag belief when the rest of the world demands conformity?

“Irey can run super fast” you’re right. That is the basis of her powers, but not the entirety of them. According to her Prime Earth and New Earth Wiki pages, the full breath of her powers include:

Iris West Anon here, sorry I had to lay low over the summer because with everything going on with Ben and Maya speaking on it would've not been good for me or my friend. I'm here now(temporarily) because stuff is leaking about Ben anyway so I'm probably safe. I'll answer all the questions I can that I've seen right now, beware this post will be very long.

Maya and Ben breakup: Maya and Ben broke up because Ben found out Maya hooked up with someone else and got mad. Maya was mad at Ben during one of her trips to the UK and hooked up with someone(idk who but they were famous). Maya regretted it because the sex was trash(especially compared to Ben) it was a reckless decision in order to get back at Ben and she knew if Ben found out he'd be pissed and the relationship wouldn't be the same. Ben did find out(obviously) got mad and kicked her out and even threw some of her stuff away hence her abrupt flight out of NY during the summer. Maya believed they could salvage it and tried hard to get Ben back and even kept the engagement ring. Ben wasn't having it and they split for a while however neither where willing to truly break up so they kept the facade up and kept in touch just in case they did work things out, hence them denying breaking up despite it being somewhat obvious. However after a while it became clear that they weren't in the right space to work it out and decided to officially break up.

Meg and Ben: They hooked up in 2020 after him and Kendall split in like October/November. Things were actually going pretty well between them, he liked her personality and her sex appeal and that she was someone heavily desired he could show off especially with Kendall and Devin being a thing, she was good in bed too. She liked his laid back and cocky attitude and the fact that he spoilt her and treated her like a queen/prize. He sent her flowers and bought her jewelry. He also had a huge dick and was the best sex she'd ever had. Things were going well and she even started posting the gifts he sent on her stories like flowers and some jewelry, they were about to soft launch the relationship but everything going on with Tory made that all stop and the relationship was dead before it truly began.

Lily and Ben: They're not dating, Ben hooks up with her because when she's around him she basically worships the ground he walks on. She's wanted to hook up with an athlete for a while and Ben is one of the sexier one's so getting with him was like hitting the jackpot for her. At the start Ben hooked up with both her and her gymnast friend Olivia but that stopped and now it's mostly Lily when she's around. Ben still hooks up with other girls and is being a massive hoe but Lily doesn't care she knows they're not exclusive.

Tinashe and Ben: They did hookup, it got more serious after the Maya break up with Tinashe staying with him in Brooklyn at times. Tinashe was elated, thinking that things could go back to the way they used to be but Ben didn't see it that way.

Ashely the Reporter and Ben: That was also a thing, he'd hookup with her after games if she was in NY and they might've even been spotted having dinner together but nobody recognised her so she wasn't ID'd. That was just a one sided situationship so don't dwell on it.

Other girls: He did try and hook up with Eiza but had no success, I can't confirm the Sommer Ray stuff but it wouldn't shock me they were around each other during NY fashion week. He's also hooked up with girls and models in NY, he's being a massive hoe right now.

Meg and Ben Part 2????: Meg and Ben recently got in touch again, I think Ben's afraid of being alone and Maya was the girl he was most in love with. The headlines about her with other men(all false apparently) made him reach out to her. They've been quietly trying to rekindle things, Ben's unfollowed a bunch of insta models and Lily hasn't been around him for a while. Maya has also stopped letting herself be seen with other men like Giveon or Stormzy and they might work things out. However they also tried to get back together in summer but it didn't work so who knows. Just don't be too surprised if Baya returns.

Welcome back to another edition of Iris West looks! The show’s over but this blog isn’t!

Our first look is a baby! Iris look

She’s wearing a hot pink cardigan over a floral patterned blue and white shirt and denim shorts. I adore what baby Iris wears, guys. I love the floral almost motif she’s got going on. 

That being said, I hate how EVERY Baby! Iris scene, she has the same hairstyle. Miss West, please look at some YouTube tutorials. 

Secondly, we get a formal look!

Iris, being the “everygirl” doesn’t get to dress up too often so it’s very exciting when she does! 

She’s wearing the BCBG Joselyn dress in lavender mist. Full disclosure, I thought it was pale pink for the longest time but. It’s pale purple. I really love the dress. I love the patterns on it and how it falls. I think it’s one of the most beautiful dresses Iris wears in the show.  She wears the dress with a pair of simple black heels, drop earrings and a cuff bracelet- and of course, her rings.

And this look introduces the bright pink phone case! Honestly ADORE the pink phone case. It’s fun, it’s bright…it’s Iris all the way. 

The look, including Barry’s, is fun to compare to the next journalism-Flash investigation in 5.05 where they wear more formal wear. 

Thirdly, we get another dress.

This is PEAK season 1! Iris. Cute dress, check. Ankle boots, check. Earrings, necklace and rings, check, check and check. The dress is pretty casual but the belt really changes the shape and I love it. So much. Also ADORE the ankle boots. They match the belt which I find adorable.  

Finally, we have a blink and you’ll miss it look

Unfortunately, can’t see what she wears for bottoms + shoes. But she wears a grey turtleneck with what looks to be a black skirt but could absolutely be her apron as well. Decisions, decisions. She’s also wearing a single gold ring, a few brightly coloured bracelets and a pendant necklace. 

Having this look be over in SECONDS is one of the worst crimes Flash has done to me.

Chapter 1 -

Linda could tell from the moment Iris pushed open the door at the New York Times, even from all the way across the room, that something was wrong. And that something wrong was probably Eddie.

Iris looked very fashionable in her marble, form-fitting dress beneath the black, wool peacoat she wore over and the knitted hat and gloves from her grandma Esther, but the smile on her face was forced, and it immediately fell as soon as she landed in the chair behind her desk and stared straight ahead at her best friend, her hands folded beneath her chin, waiting.

“We broke up.”

“Oh, no,” Linda tried to infuse her voice with sadness, but the flickering look in her best friend’s eyes told her she hadn’t succeeded. “What?” she deadpanned.

“You’re not very convincing, Lin.” She paused. “It’s okay to say you didn’t like the guy.”

Linda shrugged helplessly.

“I didn’t like the guy.”

“Putting it mildly,” Iris muttered, booting up her computer. “You hated his guts.”

Linda winced.

“I was that obvious, huh?”

Iris met her hesitant gaze with a deadly stare again, and Linda leaned back in her seat.

“What do you want from me, Iris? You’re my best friend, and he was treating you like crap.”

Iris frowned.

“He was no-”

“He was – is – a workaholic. He never put you first. He forgot birthdays, anniversaries, promotions? Come on. This is a good thing. You’ll find someone new, someone better. Someone who will treat you like the princess you obviously are and the TV anchor you’re bound to become.”

Iris managed to smile at that last bit.

“Baby steps.” She pursed her lips after opening up a document. “First I have to get out of this hell hole.”

“New York Times? A ‘hell hole’? Iris Ann West, I am shocked by your language.”

Iris looked up at her bestie again and sent her the third impenetrable glare of the morning. Linda only smiled in response and began typing on her own computer for the day’s work.

It was an hour passed when she should’ve gone home when a familiar face appeared beside her desk. Iris was only too glad Linda wasn’t there to tell him off before she did.

“Eddie.”

“Hi, Iris.”

“What…” She scrambled to put her stuff together, so she could scurry out the door. “What are you doing here?”

“I think we need to talk.”

She felt the tension building up in her. Without caring that her computer was fully shut down or not, she flicked off the monitor and started to push her arms into her coat, pulling her long hair free of the collar.

“I thought we already talked.”

“You talked, I listened. I didn’t get to talk.”

She rolled her eyes and pushed past him.

“Your silence spoke volumes.”

He sighed.

“Let’s try again.”

“No.”

“No? You don’t even want to hear my argument?”

She folded her arms and told herself she’d give him 30 seconds. She only needed five.

“I quit my job.”

Her eyes bulged, and her jaw dropped.

“You what?! I never asked you to do that!”

“You didn’t have to.”

“Eddie, you need a job. You just also need to learn a good work-life balance or you’re not going to keep anyone around for long, no matter how loyal they are.”

“I kept you for five years, didn’t I?”

“Yeah. I’m a rare breed.”

She headed for the door.

“Iris, Iris, stop!”

She stopped, her hand on the door.

“Look, they wanted me to stay really bad.”

“I’m sure they did. You’re likely their most dedicated worker.”

“Was.”

“Right.”

“Iris, I’ve already had an offer from multiple other places. I’ve been looking for someplace different for a while, someplace with a less crazy schedule, so that you and I can actually see each other.”

Slowly, she turned to look at him.

“You have?”

He nodded and cautiously approached her.

“I wanted it to be a surprise. I was planning a dinner…candlelight…maybe we’d end up in the bedroom…”

“Eddie.”

“And then you had to go and break up with me before our dinner reservation…” He lifted his watch to look at the time. “In 20 minutes.”

Her jaw dropped.

“You didn’t cancel it?”

He took her hands in his own, and for some bizarre reason she let him.

“I was hoping I wouldn’t have to.”

She was torn.

“Come on, Ms. West. Give me one more chance? I promise you won’t regret it.”

She nibbled on her bottom lip.

“Or at least give me dinner. I paid a pretty price for that reservation.”

“Fine.”

“Yeah?” he asked, excitedly.

“Dinner only, and only because I’m hungry, and I have a feeling you reserved my favorite restaurant?”

“I did indeed.”

She scoffed.

“Of course.”

He extended his elbow for her to loop her arm through, and they walked out the door.

“Don’t get any ideas, Thawne. This is not me giving in.”

But of course, it was.

Under warmer weather in Central City, Missouri, Barry Allen chowed away on his mother’s famous spaghetti for dinner. He lived across the street, which was perfect, considering how big of a mama’s boy he was. It was not convenient, however, for his long-distance girlfriend, Patty Spivot, who’d moved out to her dream location of New York City as soon as they’d graduated from college.

“That was quick,” Nora Allen said, taking note of her son’s empty plate moments later.

“Oops,” he said with his mouth full.

She tousled his hair.

“My beautiful boy…” She pushed his chin up so that his mouth closed. “Chew with your mouth closed.”

He chewed as she said and swallowed, then promptly wiped his mouth with a napkin.

“Yes, Mother.”

Her eyes twinkled when she sat down beside him.

“Was that Patty on the phone?”

And it was. It had been. Shortly before dinner they’d talked…for 10 minutes. Their calls were getting shorter and shorter, their texts less and less. He couldn’t remember the last time they’d said I love you – or had phone sex for that matter.

“Oh, uh, yeah, it was.”

He got up to rinse his plate and stick it in the dishwasher.

“I was thinking…” Nora continued. “What if you went to New York for the holidays?”

“What?”

“You haven’t seen her in a while. It might be a nice surprise.”

He shrugged.

“I always have Christmas with you and dad though.”

“I know,” she said, going over to him. “But we’ll be here when you get back – or even if you decide to stay.”

He frowned.

“Decide to stay?”

“You’ve been in the relationship for a long time, honey. And your father and I can see it slowly draining the life out of you. You only have two choices here.”

“And those are?”

“Find a way to reinvigorate it – or end it.”

“And visiting for the holidays would reinvigorate it? For how long though?”

“Moving there might do the trick.”

“But you and Dad-”

“You’re almost 30, honey. The phone works fine for staying in contact. And you can visit us whenever you want.”

“But-”

“I want you to start your own life. Either here or someplace else, but don’t let us be the reason you’re not going.”

“You want me to move across the country for a girl?”

“For the woman you’ve loved for the past five years? Maybe.” She squeezed his shoulder. “Just think about it.”

He nodded halfheartedly and sunk into himself.

“Okay,” he said. “Okay, I will.”
