hey so i one to know how do you draw

Here's a post that describes my process. Basically, sketch, final lines, flat colors, final shading. (My sketches tend to end up pretty neat these days, but I line them for consistency and ease of coloring).

For specificis on a technical level, here's a link with my applications, brush settings, and a shading tip.

It's not the fun answer, but the best I can recommend is to just continue making art! I started this blog in October of 2014 to give myself a reason to practice my digitial art. Although I hope to continue improving, drawing so much over the years has really helped to improve my style and techincal skills:

I've looked at and studied the Official Pokemon artstyle so much, and have the official art to use as reference. References are your friend as much as practice is; eventually you won't need the references. Good luck with your art journey!

how does Houndoom hear without ears

I don't know and it's lack of ears greatly bothers me :(

Tempted to edit him and add ears in to see what it looks like.

what do you think the occurrence of shinies in the wild means for pokemon genetics? would you equate it to an animal in our world being born with albinism? or something else entirely? just curious your thoughts

I don't know how the real statistics would compare, but yeah I always likened it to albinsim or melanism. (That may have been influenced by this wholesome Dorkly comic, though). I imagine Pokemon would have a natural range of color shades, similar to their "official" colors, and then shinies are a mutuation that affects Pokemon species differently (ie. different colors instead of always being white or black like albanism/melanism).

Thanks for asking, I'm okay!! It could've been so much worse.

For those that missed my tags the other day, I slipped and fell down my stairs Sunday night. I just got back from an early Christmas celebration with my partner's family, and we were going downstairs and I slipped and landed on my back while falling down the stairs. My back is visibly bruised and a little swollen at the spot of impact, but I didn't break anything and am just sore. It's a pain but I'm really lucky that I'm just a bit banged up and not worse!

My partner was below me on the stairs and actually spilled hot tea on me trying to stop my fall so I also got a minor burn on my ankle, which was more funny at that point then anything else, haha.

How are you

Thanks for asking, I’m doing alright. I’m recovering from a cold I caught from family on Christmas and a fall down the stairs from a little before that. My back is doing better than it was, but is still pretty sore on one side. My cold is mostly gone, but I’m still congested and a little more tired than usual. Hope you’re doing well.

If the 15 Halloweevees had actual in-game types instead of silly joke types, what types do you think they would be? (they can be single-typed or dual-typed, whichever you think would work)

I hadn't actually thought of this before, so this was a fun one! Here's what I came up with, but I'd be interested to hear what others think:

Candeon: Fairy

Spookeon: Ghost/Normal

Witcheon: Psychic/Fairy

Pumpkeon: Grass/Fire

Vampeon: Flying/Dark

Howleon: Dark/Normal

Mummeon: Ghost/Ground

Swampeon: Water/Grass

Cerebeon: Fairy/Dark

Goopeon: Poison

Reapeon: Ghost/Dark

Voodeon: Psychic/Ghost

Impeon: Dark/Fire

Frankeon: Electric/Ghost

Strawmeon: Grass/Dark

Sorry, I'm new here! What's a Paradox Pokemon?

Paradox Pokémon are a special category of Pokémon introduced in Gen 9 in the games Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, which are believed to come from either the distant past (Ancient Pokémon) or the far future (Future Pokémon), brought to the present day via a plot-related time-distorting phenomenon.

Ancient Pokémon are exclusive to Pokémon Scarlet version, and have prehistoric or primal designs, while Future Pokémon are exclusive to Pokémon Violet version and are robotic or cybernetic versions of existing Pokémon. The Pokédex entries for all of them are pretty wild and speculative, and it’s made unclear whether or not these are really future or past versions of Pokémon. The origins for the Future Pokémon are particularly wild and varied.

They all have a different, two-word naming scheme. All the Future ones start with “Iron” (ie, Iron Boulder, Iron Thorns, Iron Hands, etc), and the Past ones have a little more varient (ie. Great Tusks, Scream Tail, Roaring Moon, etc).

All the IPPs I do for Paradox Pokémon should be taken as high speculative what-ifs, too!

After so many years, I’m the anon that first suggested the dual-type Espeon and Umbreon Eeveelution! man, it’s wild that it’s been 8?? years since then. your art has grown so much over the years and it’s amazing to always come back to your blog and see just how much more you’ve made and designed. i don’t really use tumblr anymore, but i keep it around just to pop up and see your art!! especially the eeveelutions, both custom and dual-types!! i hope you never lose your passion for any of these designs!!

How would you design a halfway point between a bear and a dragon? And how would you foreshadow the IMPENDING DRAGONFICATION of the initial bear?

THIS WAS THE ISSUE I RAN INTO lol. I had designed the first stage and the last stage but had no idea how to bridge that gap. How much of the impending dragonfication do you give away at the second stage?? Which is ironic because I feel like bridging the gap between stages is now my whole schtick!

I'll have to see if I can track down my preteen sketches for this thing. I don't think they were very good, haha. I'm a little tempted to try them again someday.

I find it odd that we haven't gotten a new eeveelution in literally over a decade, for the first time in the entire Pokémon series, 3 consecutive generations without a single new Eeveelution... Huh, weird!

I know! It seems unlikely at this point that we'll get more, but I'll always hope. The Eeveelutions must be such a cash cow for TPC with merchandise and events, I'm surprised they're not more willing to add a few more. Maybe in Gen 10...

Hello! Regarding "Can I use your Fakemon..." FAQ, I was wondering if putting them in regions and making regional variants would be allowed? Not for a game, but story and rp purposes! With credit to you ofc :)
