hey so i one to know how do you draw

Here's a post that describes my process. Basically, sketch, final lines, flat colors, final shading. (My sketches tend to end up pretty neat these days, but I line them for consistency and ease of coloring).

For specificis on a technical level, here's a link with my applications, brush settings, and a shading tip.

It's not the fun answer, but the best I can recommend is to just continue making art! I started this blog in October of 2014 to give myself a reason to practice my digitial art. Although I hope to continue improving, drawing so much over the years has really helped to improve my style and techincal skills:

I've looked at and studied the Official Pokemon artstyle so much, and have the official art to use as reference. References are your friend as much as practice is; eventually you won't need the references. Good luck with your art journey!

If the 15 Halloweevees had actual in-game types instead of silly joke types, what types do you think they would be? (they can be single-typed or dual-typed, whichever you think would work)

I hadn't actually thought of this before, so this was a fun one! Here's what I came up with, but I'd be interested to hear what others think:

Candeon: Fairy

Spookeon: Ghost/Normal

Witcheon: Psychic/Fairy

Pumpkeon: Grass/Fire

Vampeon: Flying/Dark

Howleon: Dark/Normal

Mummeon: Ghost/Ground

Swampeon: Water/Grass

Cerebeon: Fairy/Dark

Goopeon: Poison

Reapeon: Ghost/Dark

I find it odd that we haven't gotten a new eeveelution in literally over a decade, for the first time in the entire Pokémon series, 3 consecutive generations without a single new Eeveelution... Huh, weird!

I know! It seems unlikely at this point that we'll get more, but I'll always hope. The Eeveelutions must be such a cash cow for TPC with merchandise and events, I'm surprised they're not more willing to add a few more. Maybe in Gen 10...

Everyone asks whether Fire-typed pokémon can swim in lava, and we mostly agree yes. But can they drink lava?

For both, but especially the latter, I think it depends on the Pokemon! IMO, all Fire-type Pokemon do not have equal fire-proofing and heat resistance. 

For example, could Groudon drink lava? Certainly.

Magcargo, Heatran, or Camerupt? For sure!

But Vulpix, Talonflame, or Pyroar? Ehh, probably not?

So I think it's a case-by-case basis. I’m curious where you fall in this debate!

Hey man, I see you just followed me so you're probably not that familiar with my blog yet.

I usually have a new Eeveelution every few months (they're more of a bonus instead of my regular gig), but I've been really busy lately dealing with buying my first house and preparing to move.

Normally, I don't ever have fixed dates for when I'm going to post Eeveelutions, they're more of a thing that happens when I have the time and inspiration. However, I've been doing special Halloween Eeveelutions the past few years, so you should come back on the 31st 🎃

Since the new Legends Z-A seems to feature mega evolution, what pokémon would you like to see having mega evolution granted for? In my opinion, it would be so cool if the eeveelutions were granted.

I'd love for there to be new Mega Evolutions; it's definitely my favorite gimmick. I don't imagine they'll go there, but it would be cool to see the Eeveelutions all get Megas. I think more starter Pokemon should get Megas, to even the field there (I would love Swampert to get a new Mega, but I know that won't happen!). I also hope the lore pulls away from the "Mega evolution is harmful" direction SuMo went in.

It's been a few weeks since the last new post (Hisuian Goodra Line), and you haven't said that you were away or anything. What happened? You didn't even add an "update soon" tag to any of the reblogs since the last new post.

I apologize for the lack of art updates and personal life updates. Those two weeks since Hisuian Goodra have flown by for me, wow. I thought most people were aware that I’m busier in general now and have less time than I used to, and that while I always aim for two new art posts a week, I post updates when I’m able to. But I don’t mind you asking and there are a few things going on that I’m happy to share with you all.

For the past two months or so, my partner and I were focusing a lot of time and energy on house projects and updates for our (belated) housewarming party, which happened in the beginning of August, went really well, and is thankfully behind us now. We spent like four weeks working on our back deck, we just kept running into unexpected issues. Most days I never went on my laptop at all, and was too tired/stressed to work on art.

When I had time to work on Pokémon art, I’ve been trying to finish a commission that has been really time consuming, which has been holding up other commissions and regular IPP updates. We’re finally at the end coloring stage, but now that’s on pause because I had to send my laptop in for repair.

Frustratingly, I spilled some water on my new laptop and now some of the keys don’t work, including the CTRL key. I put it off for a while, but finally bit the bullet and have mailed my laptop in to be repaired. It’s estimated back to me early September, but I have no idea if I’ll get it back sooner or later. I’ve been meaning to make a post about this, but it’s just been a busy week!

Lastly, I’m leaving for my family vacation tomorrow, so I’ll be gone next week (not that I could do art anyway, with my laptop being repaired). I’ll continue with scheduled reblog as usual when I’m away. I miss doing updates and hope to get back into them in September. I’ll try to keep you guys updated if there are any further delays!

Jigglypuff's line is a pretty simple one, so even though my art for it was 7+ years old, I kept it for a while. But when I looked at my old art for it while doing Screampuff, I knew I wanted to update them. Here's the comparison for them:

Yikes, man. I'm choosing to answer this rude ask so I can share some information for anyone who'd prefer to not see my old art reblogs on their dash.

All my reblogs of old art are tagged IPPreblog and old art specifically for the purpose that people can blacklist them if they don't want the reblogs to appear on their dashboard. I tag my ask responses as IPPasks for this purpose as well. I tag everything meticulously, so nothing should slip through. This is even covered in my FAQ.

Here is how to use tumblr filters to hide certain tags from your dashboard, both mobile and desktop.

I also have New Art Only view as a link in my pinned post and as a button on my desktop sidebar, for those who just want to see new art.

Also, while I think this ask was very rude, no hate to anyone who doesn't want reblogs on their dash; I totally get it! That's why I use the tag system.

I have no idea how long you'll be a cyber-artist before retiring, but what I do know is that I like having a headcanon where it takes 2 decades to complete a lap of a consistent loop where the particular trio of Halloweevees encountered during Halloween Night depends on what number between 0 & 9 is always used as their year-number's final-digit, while this would be based on two consecutive decades of complete variety, as if Vigesimal was the yearly-to-millenial used numeral system, with 3 as the amount of Halloweevees per year making up for their lack of 3 as one of their factors. I doubt 60 Halloween Types seems possible or doable at all, but you never know in the world of fiction where nothing has to be realistic at all. My own headcanon might change over time, so please take it with a grain-of-salt.

I'm not sure how long I'll keep making Pokemon art either, but I hope it's a long time!

I usually think of it that you have a chance to encounter any of the Halloweevees on Halloween, but having it be a particular trio that appears on a certain year would be cool, too.

This is a fun headcanon, thank you for sharing it with me! I don't know if I'll get to 60 Halloween types, but I do already have next year's planned/conceptualized, and many ideas for others down the line. I'm excited to share this year's with you later on today :)

Why is in-progress Wiglett unnamed? It should be Wigduo because in-progress Diglett is Digduo! Maybe you'll make Toedscull or Entitcha next!

I'm in the process of redoing the Diglett line (Kantoian Digduo is done, Alolan Digduo is in process), so I'll do names and backgrounds for these all at the same time.
