My personal take on Irken heights and designs! More insight into my process under the cut.
I exagerrated the heights of most Irkens to further pronounce Zim's lackingness- As well as make it make more sense in universe for the Almighty Tallest to single out Zim and Skoodge specifically for being short.
Tumblr media
Larb in particular regularly recieves favoritism due to his height, so I made him taller to make it more fitting.
I also gave Spleen hideous veins because I hate you all personally. (There is definitely something wrong with him)
As for Tak I kept her height relatively the same in comparison to Zim which would make her pretty short by typical Irken standards.
Tumblr media
I also removed her cross hatched mouth because it just confuses me and I don't really like it.
Tumblr media
Tenn is popular amongst the fandom for some reason so I included her since I needed more female Irkens.
Although I took more inspiration from her first appearance than her more prominent role in Megadoomer because she looked too similar to Zim.
And of course there's Zim himself. I made sure he was the shortest- Even moreso than Skoodge because that's hilarious.
Pint isn't a real Invader moreso just an extra Irken I added to showcase traits that other potential candidates weren't able to- Such as the brownish eyes and chubbier build on a female Irken.
Tumblr media
I refrained from drawing Sizz-Lorr's hat because I wanted to show off his antennae.
I also changed the logo on his metal sleeve things to have two eyes instead of one- Since the one eye symbol is supposed to be for Invaders only.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
As for the Tallest without the suit, I took inspiration from this concept art from The Trial- Which depicts the young Tallest as Irken Elite.
Tumblr media
I do think it looks pretty cursed with that awful huge head on that tiny stick body. I made Red TALL, tall enough to be the tallest living Irken (tied with purple) but the height is greatly exagerrated by the suit.
Tumblr media
Since I buffed the Irken race so hard size wise JUST to screw over Zim, naturally Dib (who is even smaller) got screwed over even harder

Invader Zim Deathmatch:
ROUND 2, FIGHT 16:
INVADER LARB VS TAK!
Tumblr media
The rules are as follows:
1. We’re assuming that both participants actively want and are willing to kill each other unless actively specified otherwise (for example: Chammy Wamboo).
2. The fight must be one on one so no outside help is allowed, but prep time is allowed.
3. The rule for prep time is that if one contestant gets prep time, the other contestant gets an equal amount of prep time as well.
[Masterpost]
Information about both contestants (who they are, powers and abilities, etc) can be found under the cut.
Contestant Stats:
Invader Larb:
“Nap-Lord of the most comfortable couch”
Appearances:
Invader Larb appears or is at least mentioned several times throughout the show and comics
Powers and abilities:
Irken physiology (can lift over 3 times their body weight and is extremely durable)
PAK (PAK legs, PAK lasers, shield generator, all the things an Irken PAK can do)
Elite military training (Larb is an Invader, meaning that he went through irken military training and became an elite soldier before going through Invader training. This means that Larb has the combat skills of an elite soldier)
Invader training (as an Invader, Larb is trained in espionage, stealth, sabotage, and other invader-related things)
Fun Fact (important):
Larb is an extremely successful Invader with a lot of conquered planets under his belt, but it’s worth pointing out that his accomplishments aren’t as impressive as they seem. As pointed out by Zim, Larb got all the easiest planets to conquer (even his initial planet of Vort, despite being extremely important, wouldn’t be that much of a challenge to conquer since Vortians and Irkens were on at least somewhat decently good terms at the time. Larb probably didn’t even need a disguise) and one of the planets in his list of accomplishments (Blorch) wasn’t even conquered by him. Larb’s actual invader prowess is a lot less impressive than it seems, with him conquering a lot of really easy planets and no really difficult ones to essentially pad out his score.
Tak:
“Dirtlord of Dirt with a planned 70 year reign”
Appearances:
Tak appears in the episode “Tak; The Hideous New Girl” and has a cameo appearance in Dookie Loop Horror.
Powers and abilities:
Irken physiology (can lift over 3 times their body weight and is extremely durable)
PAK (PAK legs, PAK lasers, shield generator, all the things an Irken PAK can do)
Elite military training (Tak went through irken military training, but fell just barely short of becoming an elite soldier because she missed the final test. This means that Tak has roughly the combat skills of an elite soldier)
Holograms (Tak has the ability to create holograms, letting her turn invisible and disguise herself. However, we never see Tak affect anything but herself with these holograms, implying that her holograms are limited to just covering her)
Mind Control/Wipe (using her holographic tech, Tak can compel creatures to do things. She can also wipe memories with the same tech. However, creatures of even average intelligence or greater are completely immune to its effects, meaning that it’s only effective on already stupid creatures. Even Zim is immune)
Fun Fact:
Out of universe, Tak is cursed. I mean it. Every time she tries to appear in an Episode/Comic/Movie/etc, something stops her. The show was cancelled before she could appear in any more episodes (which was supposed to happen), a last second animation error kept her out of ETF, copyright issues and Nickelodeon meddling kept her out of all the comics but the last one where she gets a one panel cameo (the same thing happened to Skoodge there). It’s almost like the universe actively doesn’t want Tak to have more appearances.

A Secret Meeting in the Dead of Night Feat. The Tallest looming over Invader Tenn, Larb and Flobee
-
I finished reading a great fic, A Parade of Indignities by @rissynicole and loved it!
I especially loved seeing little pieces of fanart at the bottom of some chapters, and wanted to contribute a piece of my own.
The secret meeting at the end of Chapter 3 created such a strong visual in my mind, I was surprised no one had tackled it yet - So heres my attempt at capturing it. Hopefully its still completely readable on some darker monitors.
Sketch thumbnails under the cut for those interested in that kinda stuff!

I always request Larb
Always
I am "The Larb Guy™"
I feel like there is something very dark about The Larb Guy™️ asking one of The Lard Nar Guys™️ (vermi being #1 obvi) to draw Larb. I love it. Here is your Larb.
Tumblr media
My friend’s been here while I’ve been drawing and they mentioned something about Tall Boy Drinks, which is just a can of beer but tall??? which just like. Seems like something he’d do to feel good about his slightly tall status. so I went with a generic poop can written in Irken but tall. anyways.

Today's sketches
Zim and 777 were the easiest to draw, followed by Larb and Tenn
I just couldn't get the tallest to look right, but these came out great!
Gonna try to do more backgrounds next time

I love Zee for the unintended plot shit that's been coming up with her for the last few days, but fuck if I haven't had the repeating thought of 'throw her out the window' the entire day while trying to draw her

Like nah you’re right and you should say it. I’ll die mad and ever curious about how a single invader managed to pull such a fast one over the literal most intelligent species in the universe. Irkens are virtually NOTHING without their Vortian-appropriated technology. It’s already tragically ironic enough that the spearhead ship of their conquesting Armada was majority-designed by the very people it would turn right back around and point its canons at one day. From what Purple once mentioned, Vort-original spacecrafts have all but been eradicated. All remaining Vortians live as either fugitives or slaves on their own home world. Like, I highly doubt at all it was an easy assignment, the couch was just a very enticing bonus reward to think about. The vortians were at least a civilized opponent to blend in with and live beside while the slaughtering rat people…. were the slaughtering rat people.
The Vortians’ history is so tied into Irk’s own and we’ve never as much as confirmed what their ball of rock even looks like. No cityscapes, no intact family units (it’s still an open question whether or not they even have females), and nothing between the A and B of how Larb single handedly brought them from a fortress holding their own to heeling before the Tallests. Did he and Lard Nar ever go toe to toe when shit really hit the fan? Did they interact at all, maybe not in a hostile manner? Hell, are Larb’s actions at all connected to the fact that Lard Nar is a free but very vigilante individual while prisoner 777 isn’t? I voted for Larb and it was near completely biased from how I’m begging to know more about the planet he was assigned for too.
But I’m equally curious to know what he’s been up to since then. We haven’t really checked in on any invader that has completed their mission except for Skoodge. And Skoodge was fired for his success, title and glory handed off to some nobody. But what of that guy? Do invaders return back into the elite draw pile once they’ve completed their assignment? I was going to assume maybe in the case of a sentient species left alive, the conquer could stay behind to keep running their operation with an iron fist. After all, Zim’s fantasy happy ending so often involves ruling the humans himself, but I think Zim might be really off… conquered goods belong to the empire, and invaders are just the means of taking.
Control Brains instead are the shown mechanism for running planet-scale faculties. So like,,? Yeah what’s Larb going to be up to then? Where next for probably the single most respected soldier of the entire fleet?
Skoodge has been excluded in the name of actually underrated characters. Had the series not been canceled, he was already on schedule to join the main cast on Earth anyway.
Tak was never officially an invader to begin with.
And Tenn’s unfortunately failed in her mission, as far as implications go.

holding hands (leading)
sequence about following
skoodge only being good at following
degeneration of relationship: skoodge choosing things over zim (taks slightly-unintentional manipulation parallel with faants), zim getting hurt, zim fearing skoodge (all reactions)
slapping hands away paired with zim telling him to not follow him
skoodge struggle to not follow paired with zim struggle to not want to be followed, insignificant, zim trying to talk to skoodge (elite), more insignificant followed by skoodge snapping at zim (all times)
skoodges self worth, only being good at killing (now that he isnt any good at following) + zims dreams of being tallest and skoodges reality of being an invader (despite not wanting to be)
cracks in zims facade
how did you get him to care? - he cares about robots- zim being nice to gir or minimoose compared to zim being only slightly nice to skoodge - (he doesnt care) - zim harming skoodge - (i know zim hates me) - contrasted with zim being a mess/genuine with skoodge, being nice to him
fake skoodge deaths, real skoodge deaths, patterned to lead up to most impactful death
emphasis on impact of being apart
larb-grapa and xen-hyssick dynamics compared to zim-skoodge (differences)
emphasis on being together
rubbing thumb into palm -> "i dont wanna go alone" "then dont"

Invader Zim Deathmatch:
[Round 1, Fight 7]
INVADER LARB VS “MARY” AND “FRED”!
Tumblr media
The rule for prep time is that if one contestant gets prep time, the other contestant gets an equal amount of prep time as well.

Larb’s actual invader prowess is a lot less impressive than it seems, with him conquering a lot of really easy planets and no really difficult ones to essentially pad out his score.
“Mary” and “Fred”:
“Begin The Fusion!”
Appearances:
Mary and Fred appear in the episode “Abducted”, appear in one of the quarterly comics and make a cameo appearance in “Dookie Loop Horror”
Powers and abilities:
Numbers advantage (there’s two of them, but they count as one contestant)
Keen sense of smell (one of them was able to smell Zim in the vents, implying that their species has a keen sense of smell)
[Weakness] Completely useless (Mary and Fred are both completely incompetent, stupid, and have shown themselves to be completely incapable of fighting at all, only being able to pathetically grab at an escaping Zim without even attempting to move closer)
Fun Fact:
Their theme goes WAY harder than it reasonably should.

I mean, he's not wrong. They literally rewarded Larb for his perceived higher competence based on his height with an easier assignment and gave the harder assignment to a shorter invader, perceived as less competent, and then when he accomplished it anyway, before any of the other invaders, they ejected him into space and attributed his accomplishments to some rando to propagate the myth that height is an indicator of merit. Invader Zim perfectly illustrates structural inequality in a way that's both extremely overt and yet somehow never comes across as preachy or on-the-nose.

hate!!!! whats callie a little hater about? or whos,,,,? 👀
hate: What does your OC hate? Why? How do they act towards the object of their hatred?
Different things at different times. While she worked under Miyuki, she hated all the trials and tests that her Tallest would put her through. I haven’t decided how awful i want to get with this yet, but things like… being placed into graphic simulations of death and destruction just to make sure they work properly before using them as scare tactics for misbehaving Irkens? Most of the time Callie wouldn’t deserve it, though she did act out occasionally and get tossed into one on purpose.
In general, she hates being controlled in any way, being told what to do, and not being given the chance to be herself. This mostly stems from not being given much opportunity for any of this under Miyuki. (I’m sorry my Miyuki is a villain guys)
As for WHO, she hates Zim. Who doesn’t? Might as well add to the list but he did kill her somewhat accidentally. I mean. He also killed Miyuki, and in some backwards way she’s grateful for that later on. Also she hasn’t met him yet at the time of writing this, but she can’t fucking stand Invader Larb. For obvious reasons (Vort).
For how she acts, she doesn’t get very loud or verbally combative. She gets quiet and glares, and if you’re currently the object of her hatred you’ll feel it. And you should probably run because she’s not afraid to whip out the PAK legs and skewer you if you’ve wronged her enough (though this is rare).
