aylie harper greer was born in london, england - youngest of three with two older brothers. because of that, she was a natural born fighter. she had a sense of humor that was bred from being surrounded by boys and an outgoing personality that would make anyone fall in love. her dad was a retired musician who met their american mother when he was touring through the states and they fell in love. 

more importantly, she had a heart that was bigger than herself. a heart that gave everyone a chance, whether they deserved it or not. it definitely got her into trouble and caused a few unnecessary heartbreaks, but aylie is one of the most compassionate people you will ever meet. 

her biggest passion is music. she writes her own songs and you will always find her with her nose in her songbook, but chances of hearing any original songs is slim - she has to really trust you. she will, however, be the first one to step onto the stage at karaoke or sing along to anything, no matter where it is. 

she spent a lot of her winters in colorado, which is where her mother was from, despite them all having moved to london before she was even born, so aylie is a natural on the slopes. when she was 18, her mother was in a terrible car accident that took her life. ever since then, aylie has been avoiding talking about it. the last she’d acknowledged her mom’s death was the funeral, and even then, she acted as if it didn’t happen. (think bridgett in sisterhood of the traveling pants)

she’s been coming back for the winter season to work as a snowboard instructor for the past 4 years and she can’t imagine being anywhere else. big bear is her second home and a place that reminds her enough of her mom that it feels good to aylie, but far enough from her home in london, that she feels like she is able to really be with people who don’t know her as the girl who’s mom died. 

aylie was born to be with people, which is why she makes such a good snowboard instructor. she has the personality of sunshine, so just being around her will instantly make someone smile. seeing the good in people has gotten her trouble plenty of times, but she loves love and heartbreak has never deterred her from letting it happen. 

she loves to have fun. ski shots - she’s probably the instigator behind all of them. she enjoys hooking up, making out just for the hell of it, etc. she just thinks life is short and she wants to make some memories.

★ Playful: Riley is spontaneous and like most, he enjoys having a good time around the people he likes. Hardly says no to anything and is always joyful and happy - unless he starts being dramatic of course (usually in good fun). Sasses with a smile and jokes around - sometimes at the expense of others, never at the expense of himself. Will turn around insults in a heartbeat and rarely actually takes things personaly (despite what he says). He’s too full of himself to do it and likes to praise himself with a joking tone (probably started as a joke but he actually believes it now).  ★ Caring: Despite being full of himself and having a generally pompous attitude, Riley does actually care about his friends and is always reliable to be a strong shoulder to cry on when things get serious. He has infinite comfort items (the life of a spa worker) and always knows how to make someone feel better. He gives good hugs and always has snacks on hand for such occasions, even if he dramatically hands them over like you’ve taken his kidney. Riley secretly loves doting on other people, even if he’s the one demanding attention most of the time. He likes to think he’s good at giving advice and is definitely good at keeping secrets (mostly because he keeps forgetting what people have told him). 

★ Dramatic: Dramatic might as well be his middle name. It’s his thing. We’re not talking your run of the mill gossipy drama, he doesn’t care much about that. What he does care about is how dropping his coffee is the end of the world or how he’ll die if he doesn’t get his hands on a burger right this damn minute. Also, get your ass over here and cuddle him or he swears he’ll explode. Everything is a show and the show must go on. Was probably a theatre kid in his past life. Although not his original intentions, he can’t deny the fact that it also gets him a fair amount of attention (good or bad, he doesn’t really care) and has been known to use it to his advantage.  ★ Forgetful: Not only forgetful, but also leaves his things everywhere. Someone should ducktape his valuables to him. The only thing he manages to consistently keep on him is his phone. How else can he take selfies or send paragraph-long text messages about how cruel the world is? Once found his keys in the fridge and a packet of ketchup in his pocket and frequently “loses” his wallet when drinking at the bar. Has post-its on hand always to write things down. He’s not your typical idiot, he has common sense, just lacks the brain cells associated with memory. Reliable in the here and now but will probably forget if you ask for a favor and can’t be expected to remember small details. He frequently mixes up names and forgets the order of events. Did it happen yesterday or two years ago? It doesn’t matter he already forgot. 

♕ The History ♕

★ o1. Riley grew up in your average Korean household with a smattering of siblings, only moving to the states in his late teens. He’s been attending, and now working at, the resort for many years and it has since become his home. He used to avidly snowboard at the resort when his family spent time there and he enjoyed most of the activities the place had to offer. Although young, excited, and learning the ways of being dramatic, he found himself spending more and more time at the spa questioning the ladies on skincare and other beauty-related tips. Even now, he’s never felt like it was really that feminine of a thing. Gender norms be damned, when you look like your best self you also feel it too. 

★ o2.  Although his parents were the ever-loving and doting type, they were strictly traditional and life was wholly unexciting. Cue the dramatics. Riley wasn’t just interested in the spa, but also every aspect that came along with beauty and self-care. He wanted to learn it all. Of course, his parents weren’t exactly supportive of his decision but he made absolutely sure to put in the right amount of pouting and speeches to make them come around and get his ticket to an esthetician school. Besides, he had an older sibling taking over the family company and his parents had the funds to toss at his hobbies, even if it was just to shut him up. His only regret is taking so long to learn that being dramatic has a certain pull on people.  ★ o3. It wasn’t that Riley ended up on bad terms with his parents or anything. He just doesn’t find the excitement in living simply or following societal rules. As soon as he finished school he got the work experience and eventually became a renowned esthetician and beautician. Despite being a drama king, he was exceptionally talented at getting people to relax and giving beauty advice to clients so he took that opportunity and ran with it. As soon as the job opening at the resort opened, Riley wasted no time in applying and laying on the charm to get it. He still visits his family on occasion and they can be seen around the resort from time to time. 

★ o4. These days, Riley can mostly be found working at the spa but has also recently taken up guitar and singing to occupy himself when he’s bored. Though not into snowboarding as much as he used to be, he still takes the odd spin on the slopes in his free time (he kind of hates the cold though, go figure). He manages to turn off the dramatics long enough to do his job and actually quite enjoys it since he can dote on his clients and make people feel like their best selves on the outside, but on the inside too. Besides, even though he’s giving his attention to the clients, they may or may not give him a little attention in return.

Has to remind him about basic things like putting on shoes before leaving the house or straight up taping everything to him so he doesn’t leave it somewhere. as you can tell from her intro, hazel is a big bear veteran. she’s been working at the resort since she was 19 and has held a variety of different positions over the years.

now she’s a reservations agent, and she loves all that sweet responsibility. the power.

totally doesn’t abuse it, unless someone particularly annoying yells at her. then maybe their reservation gets misplaced... totally accidentally

she’s the second youngest out of four siblings, so she’s learned the hard way that if you want your voice to be heard in a crowd, you have to shout the loudest

more specifically she has two older brothers and a younger sister who’s like, 4 years old almost 5!!

her parents are still married, and we love that for them

as a result, hazel can be a bit bossy, a bit of a know-it-all. she means well, but she has been known to kind of get on people’s nerves.

hazel is also mormon, she would call herself a mostly cultural one at this stage in her life, but she still holds a lot of the values she was raised on.

hazel is allergic to both cats and dogs, which makes her very sad but she has adapted and overcome! she has a pet tortoise named garfield who’s been with us for about 12 years but is still going strong.

her other very treasured pet is a long furby. his name is kyle, and she has been known to wear him as an awkward scarf, sort of cruella de vil style.

she also raised baby squirrels with ivan but they’ve all grown up and returned to the wild. they are empty nesters :/

her favorite christmas movie is muppets’ christmas carol. cause it’s the actual best. some people will say that christmas with the kranks is better, but those people are wrong.

she’s really bad at texting people back, answering her phone in general, and checking in on social media when people want her to... but she’s always early for work, so catch her there. and experience the hypocrisy of her complaining that she can never reach people.

she has also had the sloth group chat on mute for literal years. she will check it maybe once or twice a month.

also catch her updating her instagram story while she’s not replying to texts or answering her phone. that’s just how it goes.

she’s definitely also the mom friend, always making sure her friends are well cared for. and probably also giving them lectures whenever they make questionable choices.

getting a lil deep on main but hazel lowkey highkey carries a lot of guilt around from the struggle of being a mormon but not a particularly good one. definitely calls aylie to freak out about eternal damnation :/

just as the proceedings were going through, jo’s mother was hit by a drunk driver on new year’s eve. the car skidded onto some ice, minimal damage done... then the ice broke.

jo and benjamin both devolved after that. jo withdrew more into herself and pretty much coped by..... just reading old possum’s a LOT (hate that for her). all mopey, benjamin became much less outwardly violent. the keyword is ‘outwardly.’

ya, instead of j bein like “i will just chill” he was like “i will just make my rage more subtle because in this house, we love intimidation, manipulation, hostility, the blame game, and gaslighting! uwu” managed to convince jo that her mother’s death was somehow her fault, that he was the only person she could trust, that she will never be able to live without someone else, etc., etc.
