Resigning herself to needing the creature's help a couple of seconds before she even moves, Karlee leaves her leg bent and leans back, propping herself up on one hand while reaching down to gather the ID that slides to a stop beside her with the other. Before she realizes what she's doing, she glances over the top of the badge, the way one might when carding another attempting to buy alcohol, comparing the then and now.

Lowering the credentials, yet keeping ahold of it for now, she gestures toward the offending limb. "All right," she says, doing little to try and hide the lingering mistrust in her voice. "But I don't have anything on me to trade, so we're gonna have to work something else out."

Francis asks, and while it may be fruitless to do so, after cutting eyes toward the path ahead to make sure that it's still clear, the biker keeps his sights predominantly set on the creature in front of him, even though he can't even see the other's face; not so much in an attempt to read him as it is an attempt to size him up.

On the one hand, it could absolutely be handy to have one of the little buggers nearby— assuming said bugger wasn't going to try and eat his face in the middle of the night. On the other hand, well. It could try and eat his face in the middle of the night. But damn, whether he'd ever admit to it or not, it sure is nice to have somebody around to talk to.

Regardless, he isn't committing to an answer right this second.

When the other man speaks, it becomes increasingly justified exactly why Jesper had deliberately placed the mailbox between himself and the mysterious stranger. Although all at once, this attempt to keep that distance there feels woefully inadequate once his uniform is easily grabbed, arms reflexively pressing against the edge of the flimsy structure, still in a desperate bid to maintain some semblance of personal space.

Miraculously, the postman manages to bite back the brunt of his knee-jerk reaction to this most unwelcome intrusion; only the curl of his lower lip and the slight jut of his chin suggest that it's all a very fragile facade indeed. It's not so much bravado as it is sheer indignation at this point— despite the little voice in the back of his mind begging him to give it up already.

"If it was so easy, then why am I still here." It isn't a question because he doesn't want an answer, considering it was luck, pure and simple. Luck and a coincidentally well-placed horse.

Her friend, and roomate, is quirking a brow at that. He was clearly displeased. She is not exactly... allowed to travel to other worlds. And of course he is scolding her about it. But he also mentioned that he is surprised that she likes him. Because he was pretty sure that the mage didn’t liked doctors.

“ Ughhh. You are no fun. Jumping to other vorlds is fun alright? And I mean. He is not a real doctor... I zhink. More like scientist-doctor or vhatever. ANYWAY! Hofnarr is quite zhe sweetheart and a funny guy I zhink! Bet you vould like him too if you met him, Rey! “ 

Her smile falters then for a moment though. Especially as she remembered what had happened at their last meeting. Her friend did notice the sudden change of mood, and asked what’s wrong.

“ He... does has something like an illness zhough? “

She doesn’t goes into detail. That would probably worry the other mage to much, and Hofnarr had seemed very reluctant to tell her as well.

Christmas is fast approaching. For Lilli, Hofnarr has bought an appropriately-sized mug that says “A yawn is a silent scream for coffee” and filled it with sample-size bags of different kinds of Nevadean candy. The gift is accompanied by a postcard from Nexus City, on the back of which the scientist has written a message wishing her happy holidays.

Lilli hadn’t expected to receive such a gift from the grunt. Did they celebrate something like christmas? She had never asked him about it so far, but apparently they did given the card and the wishes he wrote on it. How absolutely cute.

And off she goes to get her favorite scientist a gift as well.

Hofnarr was behaving... kind of strange. At least in her opinion. On the other hand, Lilli also didn’t knew the grunt for that long so perhaps this was normal for him. Still, Lilli approached the doctor, intending to ask him if something was wrong, but didn’t get to open her mouth. Because he had turned to her, grabbed her arm, and... bites her hand?!?

“ OW! VHAT ZHE HELL??? “

The mage hissed, almost screamed, and had to resist the urge to kick at Hofnarr. She ended up pushing the grunt away with her other hand, before rubbing over the one he had bitten. Thankfully he hadn’t bitten her hard enough to draw blood. Still it left a bit of a mark.

Okay, maybe she should watch a bit out whenever she does the world hopping thing. Usually she managed to do it without any problems! Just... not this time. The mage doesn't know how she hit her head, but it had been enough to knock her out for a moment there. One of her hands reached up to touch her hurting head, before she slowly sat up.

Lilli mumbled, before slowly looking at Hofnarr, which words she had been barely registered, and.... froze. Alright. Okay. This guy looks very weird. Where the hell did she end up now anyway?

—    basics.

▸     is your muse tall/short/average? Lilli is 5′3 (160cm) and is with that apparently considered a bit below the average height. Though, given that I am the same height, would actually call her short out of my own experiences.

▸     are they okay with their height? Kinda? Usually yes. But if someone makes fun of her or doesn’t takes her serious because of her height, she might get a bit annoyed

▸     what’s their hair like? Medium length, and soft. It curls here and there, but is mostly straight. The tips of her hair seem to be black, while her natural color is brown which almost appears red.

▸     do they spend a lot of time on their hair/grooming? Not to much actually. She keeps her hair clean, and free from knots but that’s basically it.

▸     does your muse care about their appearance/what others think? She cares a little bit about her appearance. But mostly about her clothes than anything else. Lilli doesn’t so much care about what others think expect they are close to her. Then their opinion does matter a bit more. Especially if she feels a bit more for them.

▸    indoors or outdoors? Both. It really deepends on her mood though. Sometimes she rather stays in her apartment, and other times she goes out for a stroll for hours.

▸    rain or sunshine? Rain actually.

▸    forest or beach? Both again. Forests are very calm in some way, and she likes to stroll through them sometimes. Though she would rather visit a beach at night. It gives the same calming feeling.

▸    precious metals or gems? If she had to choose then gems. She thinks they are more pretty than metals.

▸    flowers or perfumes? Flowers. Lilli doesn’t uses perfumes. She views them as unnecessary. Also flowers are pretty.

▸    personality or appearance? That deepends. If she is looking for a one-night-stand she will totally go for appearance. If it’s making friends, or more, she focuses mostly on personality.

▸    being alone or being in a crowd? Being alone. While Lilli doesn’t mind big crowds, it can be a bit overwhelming to her.

▸    order or anarchy? A N A R C H Y of course! Order is boring to her ;)

▸    painful truths or white lies? Both. She is very blunt, so giving painful truths is something she usually goes with if it’s with everyone else. If it involves her though? It’s usually some lies.

▸    science or magic? Both! While, sure, she is a mage, she is aware that science is important as well.

▸    peace or conflict? Deepends. She rather has peace, than any conflicts... but sometimes she can’t but start a few conflicts here and there.

▸    night or day? Night.

▸    dusk or dawn? Dusk.

▸    warmth or cold? Warmth. She feels always cold and, even though she would not admit it, Lilli longs for some kind of warmth.

▸    many acquaintances or a few close friends? A few close friends. To many can be a bit overwhelming, and she would feel bad if she forgot someone which could absolutely happen.

▸    reading or playing a game? Reading! Books are her favorite thing. Besides, she had never really played any games. (if we go with video games)

▸     what are some of your muse’s bad habits? She isn’t honest with her feelings, and keeps them down whenever she can. She pents up all the anger, sadness, and fear she has until she breaks. Which has yet to happen.

▸     has your muse lost anyone close to them? how has it affected them? Her parents mostly. She went very silent when they died all those years ago. Shutting herself away most of the time. It doesn’t affects her now as much as back then though.

▸     what are some fond memories your muse has? All those nice simple nights in which she had gone out with Reynolds to go to some restaurant or just go out for drinks. It might be not much but she looks back at those moments with a certain fondness.

▸     is it easy for your muse to kill? Yes. Even if she wouldn’t like to admit this. And even though it might be easy for her, she usually tends not to.

▸     what’s it like when your muse breaks down? Dangerous. Messy. She hasn’t had a complete breakdown yet. Lilli had been on the edge of a break down many times, but somehow could always hold it back somehow. It’s not her who is the dangerous part in a breakdown. It’s the shadows and the darkness reacting to her feelings. They would attack everyone that comes to close to her in such a moment. 

▸     is your muse capable of trusting someone with their life? Yes. It just takes a bit time. Though if someone got to be her friend, and she considers them trustworthy, then she would absolutely trust them with her life. Just don’t break that trust.

▸     what’s your muse like when they’re in love? She will act casual as always. She can’t handle rejection so well, so she rather pretends that she has no such feelings towards someone. It’s hard to notice that she is in love or has a crush on someone. The only way to find out is when that person manages to fluster her. She will become shy instead maybe even going along with it. She might even run away sometimes.

Deep down, buried under an untouchable facade that's been expertly crafted over the last twenty-something years, Karlee is still terrified by the creature in front of her. Every fiber of her being, every natural instinct, tells her to run. And yet, her ass stays firmly planted on the, admitted yes, cold concrete beneath her. Call it a sixth sense or a woman's intuition, but she's always had a nose for danger— a gut feeling when something is immediately wrong.

Apart from being a little hungry, her gut is fine right now. Granted, its failed her in the past.

Quirking an eyebrow, she exhales a quiet chuckle. "Everybody needs something, and besides, I don't like feeling like I owe anybody anything. Medical supplies are hard to come by nowadays, but if I happen to trip over any, I'll send 'em your way. Or if nothing else, maybe I could find some decent substitutes." Seemingly deciding that that's settled, she musters enough daring (or stupidity) to take her eyes away from him to look around, to inspect this "sweet setup" of his.

"How long've you been here?"

The sensation he feels watching her gaze rise and fall, back and forth, from him to the card is... well, it's something. He is at once both 18, waiting patiently for a convenience store clerk to confirm that he is eligible to buy OTC medicine, and 43, watching an old acquaintance weigh the appearance of his presently middle-aged self against that of the eternally young kid from their memories. 'Well, this is new. Can't say I'm a fan of the whole tendrils and hands thing, but you do you.'

"Oh, that's... Don't worry about it. I don't really need anything." A half-truth, but he doesn't want her thinking she owes him something, because she doesn't—and even if she did, her company would be enough. "I've got a pretty sweet setup here already. It's not exactly cosy, though. Or warm. Sorry about that."
