I wish more people online knew what context and nuance is
"You shouldn't nail rats to strangers."
"Oh so your saying nailing is always wrong even if i'm making a house?"
"No i'm saying you shouldn't nail rats to strangers."

"Christmas is a Christian holiday and can't be celebrated secularly because... because..., well because it has Christ in it" *smug face, argument won*
Funny how the entire concept of any languages other than English existing and maybe having different words for it is lost on people here.

Hi hello, Ace-Aro person here: please stop talking over us and infantilizing us.
If I see one more take about how you need to keep fandom clean because "we need to protect the asexuals" I'll riot. Here's the thing, some ace people are uncomfortable with nsfw. So are some alosexual people. That's why it's important to tag things accordingly so other people can manage their experience. That has nothing to do with being ace though.
I think people conflate asexual with sex repulsed and then further conflate lack of sex with being a child. I'm 26, even if sex made me uncomfortable I can voice it myself as a grown woman. You don't need to "protect me".
The protection narrative is very puritanical christian culture. I can keep myself safe, thank you very much, you don't need to wage holy war on boobs in my name. In fact, I am fighting the crusade on the side of the boobs.
A lot of ace people are very pro sex so long as it doesn't involve us. Some actually do have sex, lack of attraction doesn't mean lack of libido.
When you see ace people, survivors of sa, neurodivergent people or even minors as "poor sweet things that need to be protected" instead of actual people, that's when you drink the purity culture Kool aid. If you're old enough to be on social media you're old enough to use the tools at your disposal to filter the content you see. We don't need anyone harassing others in our name.
We should teach people how to use these tools instead of forcing everyone to act PG 13 (which is what the advertisers want you to do btw). Also, consider how it makes us feel when you speak over us saying that ace/ND/sa survivors are uncomfortable with sex when a lot os us aren't. Hell, purity culture has been proven to be very damaging for the minors it was meant to protect (lack of sex Ed, repression and feelings of guilt make you easier to groom too). Kiddifying the internet is harmful even for the minors.
So please, next time you read about how we need to make fandom "safer for ace people" I want you to remember that statistically speaking a lot of the nsfw artists you're harassing are ace. Tag things, block words, keep yourself safe and let others live.
But, most of all: stop making generalizations about communities (even if you're in them) to justify your censorship.

I’ve noticed this thing (mainly on google and spotify) where if you try to screenshot a page a“share” page will pop up, and although it doesn’t interfere with the screenshot itself (thank god) it’s SUPER annoying
Like no!!!! Stop trying to get clicks!!!! It’s like how you can’t screenshot streaming services, I’m TRYING to share information by screenshotting a section instead of letting someone scroll through a disgusting amount of ads and useless padded out paragraphs. It’s so horrible I hate this I hate this stupid fucking society we live in whyyyyyyyyyy

I love how DA is now rubbing it in our faces that the top ExCluSivEs artist is LITERALLY SH_TTING OUT AI SLOP TO SELL TO THEIR PEANUT GALLERY. Might as well call the website "DeviantAI" or "AI Art" at this point.
Christ on a bicycle... It's kind of bizarre given that AI Art is a legal minefield right now. I am not vehemently opposed to the technology, but even I have to draw a line in the sand and say this is going too far.
Side note: I am not concerned about the "AI lawsuit" because it either fizzled out or will be settled behind closed doors. If those people are still pursuing it, they now have to contend with Google (is "working" on an image generator), Microsoft (has Bing Create), and all the other major tech companies adopting AI tech. And all I can say to that is good F___ing luck trying to take on Google. Worst case scenario (I'd imagine) for DA is that the lawsuit goes through and Wix panic sells them to someone else. Kind of hoping it would be Elon Musk because that would be utterly hysterical (insert maniacal laugh here)...
Despite some of the dumb and braindead decisions Tumblr has made in the past, I will give them credit for not going in all guns blazing on AI like DA did. I'm actually starting to be happy that I resurrected my Tumblr blogs now.

Sigh.
Several people have pointed some of these out in the tags already, but:
“The customer is always right…” - CITATION NEEDED - I failed to find a source for the purported “full quote” other than the tweet in the screenshot above. (Maybe the tweet author read this blog post and got confused?) Furthermore, several sources note that Selfridge was one of multiple people who may have coined the phrase, others being John Wanamaker and Marshall Field.
“Jack of all trades…” - FALSE - various sources show that the original phrase was the judgement-neutral “Jack of all trades,” and the “master of none” bit was added later; the “ofttimes better than a master of one” part is likely a modern addition.
“The blood of the covenant…” - FALSE - the original phrase is “Blood is thicker than water.” The modern authors who claim the second line is the original meaning fail to cite any sources.
“The love of money is the root of all evil” - TRUE - 1 Timothy 6:10 in the Christian Bible.

I hate a certain internet celebrity (not saying who) and have avoided this person. I've been told that this person possibly knows who I am. They mentioned a Tumblr post that they saw and made fun of it. They didn't say who made it so I might just be a coincidence but the wording makes it sound like they're talking about a post I made on my old terminated blog.
The fact that this person could've sent there fans to harass me if they felt like it legit scares me and makes me ALMOST happy that my old blog got terminated so they most likely don't know about my new blog.

My toxic trait is that I'm incredibly likely to take it personally if your clickbait title focusing on hidden details in any piece of media accuses me of having missed them.

Right-Wingers and Reactionaries really are just self absorbed. They think when a celebrity or politician gets called out and a law passes for big businesses that it will come for them. That they are so important that anyone would bother to censor their "free speech".
You're employer might care if you say the n word but the government isn't going to lock you up for it or take away your rights. You're just an asshole.

To not say that, considering how cable is going down and streaming up, chances are you can just skip the sex scene.
if you consented to watch the movie/show, and changed your mind, you can also just stop watching. You literally have more power and consent in this situation than the goddamn actors at this point.
"But you can do that if you watching a movie in theatres!"
Oh yeah, the theatres, who in order to actually play a sex scene, the movie is FOR SURE rated R, the rating that movie makers hate to use because most of the time guarantees limited reach and people know no movie uses that rating lightly.
People just don't want to do any work; they don't want to curate their online experience, they don't want to look out if anything that they see could be uncomfortable for them; they just want whatever the fuck comes across their screen to be specifically catered to them.
Tumblr media
This is so deeply unserious. Imagine actually comparing watching awkward fumbling on screen with the trauma of sexual assault and not thinking that that’s wildly ridiculous and offensive.
You, the viewer, *did* consent, the moment you pressed the play button of your own free will. It’s actually pretty easy to find out about a movie’s content ahead of time with rating guidelines and if you didn’t bother, that’s on you. Lord, save us from pearl clutching, terminally online outrage addicts.
Imagine this commenter hearing horrifying tales of violation from survivors and going "yeah, I got the ick from watching actors having fake sex on telly, this is exactly the same." Get a fucking grip 🙄
