Looker - "It may be that she was wandering lost in the wormhole for some time... Regardless of that, she then entered the International Police herself."
Nanu - "And then got promoted right up past you, her senior, is that it? Gotta hand it to the International Police. They really are terrible. Using the same strategy and setting up another Faller, even though the same thing failed before."
Looker - "Your assumptions, you are half right in. However...this mission, she chose herself."
Anabel - "Mr. Nanu was in fact a superior of mine when I first joined the International Police... He was an excellent police officer years ago. I'm really only here in this position now because of him..."
-
The more I think of this dialogue... I really do wonder if Interpol is using Anabel as bait or not. Like the Faller that died wasn't supposed to be expandable. Her death was deemed a critical failure. And yet Anabel, despite being a Faller herself, it's implied that she chose her path into UBs as Looker states due to a kinship and empathy she feels with them.
The optimistic side of me says that Interpol isn't. The realistic side of me says that they aren't exactly using her as bait but it's a strategical move to have someone like her leading the UB Task Force team, thus the way she climbed the ranks.
But then she says that it was because of NANU that she climbed the ranks. So...? What do ya'll think?

Okay I know you've said you aren't really into Giovanni but just an idea that's been rolling around in my head sometimes I think the idea that Nanu's partner was with Giovanni before is funny (or vice versa) because I like to imagine one finding out and just being like "ah you've got a type" aka older men with Persians even if it's just an accident on their partner's fault Also as I wrote this I just imagined Nanu and his partner spiderman pointing meme at each other like "...how do you know Giovanni"
cw: nondescript references to sex,
relationship: Nanu/Reader, implied Giovanni/Reader
“… What do you mean that you had a one-night stand with the head of Team Rocket,” Nanu cocked a brow up from his place on the couch. He had been watching television vacantly while petting a Meowth. Some news flash had occurred, which brought your attention to it, too. A familiar logo was shown on the screen alongside an apparent takeover of the Aether Foundation. The old man planned on ignoring it and waiting it out, but you had apparently recalled something.
As much as he wanted to feign surprise, he supposed he should not play dumb. Giovanni was well-travelled and had a bit of streak. His time as an Elite officer in the International Police had garnered him a few connections. Most officers struggled with negotiations with Giovanni, but Nanu was fully aware of how to deal with those types. “You really aren't his normal type,” Nanu continued, leaning back. You seemed surprised by his words.
“How do you know Giovanni?” The question was heavy in the world. He only responded with a deadpan look. It should have been obvious. You were aware of his previous work. Looked had made sure of that when he paid a visit to Po town police station.
“… I'd ask the same of you,” he tilted his head. You blanked for a moment. Nanu did truly debate it for a moment. Were you a powerful trainer? It was a sure-fire method to encounter him. He seriously doubted you were a member of Team Rocket, but he supposed that was not impossible. Did you like to gamble? There was that casino Giovanni had owned as a front in Kanto. “Is it a common thing for you to go after older men with Persians?” he finally asked.
You blanked again. Well… It was not as if there was not an appeal to older men, but you were not sure that having a Persian was a necessary prerequisite. Though, thinking on it, there were some other traits that seemed to link the two, even if it was not so strong. “Uh… maybe,” you replied to his question. Nanu fought back a chuckle. Well, not overly surprising. “Hey, shouldn't you and Looker do something for what's happening at the Aether Foundation, then,” you decided to change the topic.
“No,” he leaned back, “Not my job.”
You wanted to sigh.
Well, why not go yourself, you thought. Maybe it would be nice to run into Giovanni again.
~
“What do you mean that you are dating Nanu?” The Rocket Boss seemed bewildered when you showed up within the depths of the mansion he had taken over. Certainly, he had recalled a previous “relationship” between him and you. Well, he supposed an alternate version for you, but a you nonetheless. Clearly, you were a more than capable trainer to have got through not only his grunts, but the many other organisation leaders that he had brought here. Then, you start a conversation immediately with that.
“I don't know,” you shrugged, “He implied I have a type because I mentioned that we fucked once.” Giovanni hummed. Well… Nanu certainly was not dissimilar to him, but he would not say their overlapping traits were more than their differences. Though, he did find the information that Nanu was around fascinating. Had he helped you? His eyes narrowed.
“Uh, also I'm here to stop you,” you pulled out a pokeball, “Before you ask, I'm not interested.”
“… Interested in having an affair or joining Team Rocket?” he tilted his head. Might as well try. Perhaps you could be convinced to either and get out of his way for just long enough to finish his work. Whatever it took to satiate you… And still possibly convince you to join his group would be preferred.
“Both,” you shrugged, “Nanu is better than you, sorry to say.”
Well, that pissed Giovanni off. Now he really had to put you in your place.
Nanu could only ask later what you did and why.

Join the Pokemon Investigations Writing Team
After the fall of Team Flare, International Police Officer Looker comes to the Kalos region to track down the remnants of the nefarious organization. With the help of a young girl named Emma, her Espurr, Mimi, and Kalos’ new champion, he succeeds. His mission accomplished, he departs the Kalos region, leaving the Looker Bureau in Emma’s care. At least, that’s the story in one universe.
In another universe, one so very much like our own and yet also so very different, Looker stayed in Kalos, quitting Interpol to become a Private Detective full time alongside his partner and ward, Emma, and her partner, Mimi. But, while Looker may be done with Interpol, it seems Interpol is not done with him. What at first seems to be a simple missing Pokemon case becomes so much more when the culprit turns up dead. Soon the Looker Bureau find themselve swept up in a myriad of murder cases all of which seem to connect back to a the same group. But just who is this mysterious group and what does this all have to do with an unsolved case from Looker’s past?
Hi everyone, the name's BackSet and this is a little project I've been cooking up in the back of my brain for a little over a year now. To put it simply, its Ace Attorney Investigations but with Pokemon. Thing is, though, I'm not too good at mystery writing. Which is why I need some help. If you think this sounds cool and wanna pitch in, then I'd be super grateful. At the moment this is really just a creative writing project but I have dreams of maybe someday making it an actual game. That's just a pipe dream right now, though. I don't know any programmers and I don't have the money to hire one so we'll have to stick with just the writing part for now. Here's a Discord server. Join it if you're interested in helping out.

"Celebrity Justice:" An Analysis/Interpretation of the Media and how it relates to the Justice System in the Hoenn Region and perhaps the Pokemon World more broadly
This is something I've had in place in my worldbuilding for a very long time, so the analysis that's going to follow is what mostly applies to my fic series, The Dead Sea Trilogy, but what I have built in my world is rooted in things we see happening in the games, the anime, the manga, etc etc etc.
I have had this ongoing hypothesis that justice and law enforcement in the Hoenn region, and also Pokemon more broadly, is actually extremely reliant on public image.
For starters let's just mention that justice and law enforcement in the Pokemon world seems very similar to how it is in superhero stories. The police are present, in theory, and take care of the mundane things. We see characters like Colress and Ghetsis get arrested in the anime, Looker very explicitly works for the International Police, Officer Jenny exists. The police are very much a thing.
And yet, like in superhero stories, there are bigger fish to fry that the police need assistance with. This is when the bigger heroes ten year old kids and people like the Elite Four or Champion come in. From the manga we know that being a Dex Holder is something of a status position. The Elite Four, Gym Leaders, and Champions seem to be capable of some level of law enforcement and are often seen as the protectors of their respective cities. In this sense, the Pokemon World also becomes like the Wild West: Gym Leaders and the Champions are the sheriffs of their individual towns, and whatever the sheriff says is law. Law enforcement can then slightly vary town to town depending on what the Gym Leader permits. (Hi Giovanni and other criminal gym leaders/elite four members).
The Pokemon World is not keen on killing and physical violence. Sure it happens in the manga, but almost nowhere else do we ever see humans attacking one another. Everything is sorted out by proxy of a Pokemon battle, which for the sake of this conversation I’m going to be referring to as dueling. The Pokemon World has an established vigilante justice system combined with mundane law enforcement, also reinforced by a pretty intricate and universally respected dueling system. Dueling was a bigger thing historically that settled interpersonal or even larger disputes, and we see that actively being applied in all Pokemon media, but especially in the games.
If we take the conceit of the games seriously and accept the series of events not at face value for what they are: methods of the game that are designed to empower the player and help them progress, and instead consider why, culturally, even the biggest, baddest supervillains pretty easily back off once you defeat them in battle, a couple really interesting possibilities emerge. The first is of course evidence pointing to a dueling system that is so universally accepted that not even the worst criminals will violate the laws of a match. If you lose, you step aside. Everyone respects this social contract and when it’s broken (in people like Ghetsis) it can really demonstrate who is the worst of the worst. Yeah you tried to take over the world,we’ve all been there, but then you refused to step down after a match? Majority of the biggest crime leaders in the world wouldnt even think of doing that. Giovanni’s defeat sends all of Team Rocket into shame and hiding. Pokemon battling is actually a really big deal. It’s a hobby, yes, people do it for fun and friendship, but it is also a way to settle mundane disputes like someone stealing someone else’s lunch money and also to take down the biggest criminal organizations in the world. This then makes it very clear as to why Gym Leaders, the Elite Four, the Champions, and a couple of really powerful ten year olds are able to casually enforce justice. They have a lot of bargaining sway in the world because their battling skills are unrivaled. And in a world where majority of conflicts are settled by duels, this gives them an incredible amount of social and political power.
This however also is why it makes complete sense that not everyone is as good at it as you are. Most people are just battling their friends for fun or trying to get back at their bullies for stealing their lunch money. The everyday person may only have one or two gym badges they tried to get for fun, own a handful of local low-level Pokemon (remember, not everyone is traveling the world to get badges like you are), and may not even know all the type match ups. Not every town even has a gym. The player character is always depicted to have an unnatural talent, and they are able to keep up in the biggest justice enforcement system in the world. This has some interesting implications for how leveling and strength works in the "actual" Pokemon world then, as it certainly couldn't be a numbered thing, and that's a part of it i'm still actively trying to work out in my mind.
Alright, so now let's get into how this relates to Hoenn more specifically.
Because the dueling system is so universal it also then actually makes the law enforcement system incredibly localized, as justice will often be determined by who has the biggest Pokemon. This makes the justice system in every region slightly unique. And from what we have observed in the anime, manga, and games, I have a theory that Hoenn's justice and dueling system is a little bit more depending on public perception than most.
What do I mean by this??
I mean how Team Magma and Team Aqua are allowed to exist. Yes the dueling system implies that criminal teams can exist just because they're strong. But I mean the way in which Team Magma and Team Aqua are allowed to exist. They seem to be a defining feature of the region, as synonymous to the image of Hoenn as McDonald's is to the United States. If you are going to travel to the Hoenn region, you are going to see some nonsense Team Aqua and Team Magma are getting up to.
And the International Police, which exists, has not been allowed to or able to step in, despite how clear and obvious Team Aqua and Team Magma are about each of their goals. Moreso, I think, than other evil teams. There are likely laws and regulations about when and how Interpol is allowed to step in. But they clearly have not been allowed to intervene in Hoenn, and I have some suspicions as to why.
Archie and Maxie, as well as other evil leaders, are celebrities on par with the Elite Four and Champions. They may not be part of the League, but only the League seems to be allowed to handle them. And in Hoenn, there is evidence that celebrity status puts you on another level of untouchable that, when combined with the dueling system already in place, strongly discourages local governments and even the International Police from stepping in unless someone's life is in danger.
Hoenn was the first Pokemon region to have any real, strong emphasis on the presence of the news and media. Gabi and Ty were introduced as fun and interesting recurring characters you can answer silly questions for throughout your playthrough and then see your answers appear in real-time on the TV. You can get updates on outbreaks of Pokemon in the region, tips for battling, and other local and constantly-changing events in the region by checking any one of the various TVs in peoples homes. You see how the world changes around you by interacting with the news in Hoenn again and again throughout the games. It is a subtle, but actually really key thing that makes the region of Hoenn seem like a real, living place that carries on whether or not you log on to play that day.
TV Mauville/Hoenn TV are a living, changing feature in the games and other media. Archie in Pokespe actually owns Hoenn TV and is therefore able to control what people see about Team Aqua, and run a lot of propaganda against Team Magma. The media is a thing used to control and publicize throughout the region.
Hoenn was the first region where Pokemon Contests were introduced, another way to gain very flashy fame and social status and yes, even make your way into the news with your beautiful and spectacular Pokemon. Think of celebrities like Lisia and Wallace.
Hoenn is the first time in the Pokemon games we see celebrities, and this makes me think their emphasis on them means that celebrity culture, the paparazzi, and media, is actually a really big deal in Hoenn.
Now, when you combine that with the fact that the Hoenn region is home to one of the biggest, most public and sensational disputes of all time, you can start to see why Team Magma and Team Aqua are allowed to do essentially whatever they want.
Team Aqua and Team Magma bring business to Hoenn. They probably even encourage tourism as people flood in from other regions hoping to catch a glimpse of whatever insane thing they're doing that week. News stations and especially tabloids make money off running features on them. Evidence and theories on Archie and Maxie's past. Maxie paying people off to run good press. Team Aqua making headlines for well, being pirates. Two old friends turned bitter rivals now warring across the entire region over some mysterious dispute? Man, what a scoop!
So it's not necessarily that the police can't do anything about them. It's that the rest of Hoenn doesn't want them to.
And so that's why, even when things go to shit, they are held responsible for their actions... somewhat. But in the case of my fic, the fallout is also highly publicized. And then of course all the sensation around Archie and Maxie becoming A Thing. Over the course of their very public dispute, they became central to the national identity of Hoenn, as American as baseball and bald eagles. As Hoennian as Wingull and... water.
Public image plays a role in how they are brought to justice. If they are just thrown in jail with the International Police, when then, there's nothing left to report about! And this has been a big thing in Hoenn for years! We can't just drop it! We're still selling shirts about it!
What I'm saying is I think, in the Pokemon World, and in Hoenn especially, people kind of know that organized crime... helps.. the economy and the social system around them, and so they permit it to exist, even after these criminals are busted. Combine that with the lack of physical violence, the dueling system, and a justice system that's a combination of the wild west and vigilantes, and well my friend, you've got yourself a case of some real Hoennian Celebrity Justice.

> Connection maintained. > Maintaining "Secret Handshake" protocol. Handsome notes: Last message. Giovanni's probably going to be suspecting why he's gotten a dozen and a half new notifications on posts he can't see, but this needed to be public knowledge. "Fissure" is a front. But I guess it's a relatively alright one. For now. I still think some extra things should be done, but I'm starting to lose my confusion as to how he was charismatic enough to lead Rocket so long and efficiently as he had considering this video. [log: 371 E] [Addendum subject: Surveillance Camera 5/6]
Giovanni, with his face back to being obscured and his hat steadily settled on, walked outside. He had passed by the other hidden cameras, stepping up the stairs for a moment as he walked out... only for the look upon his face to visibly sour the moment eight figures made themselves known. Six police officers all with Pokeballs ready, one Interpol Agent looking down at a tablet with a hand on his chin, and a rather broadly grinning Professor Juniper, hands on her hips. "... well. You took your time. Wanted to make a grand entrance, I take it?" The Interpol Agent, the only truly well known of their force, stepped forward. He ran his hands through his hair and sharply pointed at Giovanni promptly. "Only the most dramatic! I am Agent Looker, employed by the International Police! And you... are the man by the name of 'Sakaki' on the books... and 'Giovanni' to your former organization, are you not?" The daggers glaring up from underneath of that hat were unmistakable. The camera was very much focused on him, even zooming in to get a good look at his scowl. It would be one anyone who had seen that face in person would know, and it showed just how unhappy he was with this situation. "And Fissure, by the look of things, too! Accountant by trade, battler for fun?" This got his eyes to flick towards Juniper in response, the camera feed switching to her expression. "You wouldn't happen to know what happened down there, do ya?" "A few things. If you'd like to take a look, you'll see that the Plasma grunts have been taken care of and the Pokemon down below is safe, conscious and comfortable in its--" As he stepped to the side to make a gentle motion behind himself... everyone promptly looked right behind him. Which stopped his statement, making him look back down towards it. "... room. Victini. Why are you here." It pointed up at him, whistling out a chirp and a smile. Giovanni quietly blinked in response, squinting gently. "... but I lost to you." This got Looker to promptly lean back, a smirk starting to form along his lips. Juniper seized her chance. "And you think that makes you less worthy of its blessing? The little critter's been itching for something to give it the push it needed! A person it felt it could really help out if they could show them the ropes on how things worked!" Giovanni balked, staring wide-eyed at the others. "... I fail to see the humor in whatever you're joking about!" "Joke? About this? Hah! With all the run-ins we've almost had, you have to have known I don't joke! And I don't believe Juniper does as well! So I think we have two options here!" Giovanni glared over at Looker, who simply placed his hand back on his chin and closed his eyes. "Option one? You come quietly. We settle all those pesky crimes you committed in the years prior, and handle things in the international court of law the normal way. It might be the one I want, but a few years in the slammer doesn't seem to be your style." Silence reigned... before Looker opened one eye, his expression serious. "... Option two is you do a little community service for Interpol. We've been investigating Plasma for a small while now, and having someone with experience leading a criminal enterprise assisting the investigation would be a huge boon. Especially one who seems to think he deserves to be the Strongest Trainer. I think that was your old title, eh?" Giovanni's eyes were still sharp as ever... but a grin began to creep up along his lips. "... and what about this hatchling down here, eh? A myth with no knowledge of the world that made it one?" Juniper leaned forward, showing off a Pokedex in her hand. "You give me all the data you can think to record. And I'll see about gettin' you an official Trainer ID so you can train up with the Gym Challenge." Silence reigned for a moment as he glanced down towards Victini. It chirped again with a prompt "Tiiiiineeeee!", floating up to plop itself on his hat and pat it gently. He gave a slight smirk again... before glancing at Looker. "… How about a battle first?" The feed promptly cut at that point.
Handsome Notes: I'm not showing that battle, I got completely curbstomped. Gah. Well. He chose option 2, so… I cannot even begin to imagine how strange it is that I'm going to be working WITH Giovanni. But whatever happens, I can't say this doesn't excite me a bit! He even handed me a small Pokeball... a Patrat was in it. He said it was a stolen one, so I'll have Juniper run its data to see who the original trainer was. Looker, signing off. > Connection terminated.

[A video. Watch?]
Andi stumbled slightly as gravity pulled her a few inches down to solid ground. The cave is visibly sweltering, the black stone wavering in the heat.
Someone dressed in light, red clothes motions for Andi to stay quiet.
A man in a lab coat stands with his back to the entrance, speaking to himself. Two Team Galactic grunts flank him, looking bored.
"... Cyrus disappeared, Mars and Jupiter just quit, Saturn says he'll stay with Team Galactic, but won't follow my plans! Useless, all of them. Throwing away everything we've built."
Charon took a step forward. "But my chance at power is right here and now! With the Magma Stone..."
The cave rumbled, pebbles dislodging from the ceiling. Andi could have sworn she heard a quiet exclamation from a nearby boulder.
The boy in red, Buck, stepped forward, calling out. "Hey! Team Galactic! What's going on here?"
Charon turned, a look of brief confusion on his face. "Eh? Oh, we've had some children chase us here? I do enjoy watching young trainers battle, but I'm afraid it is too late for that now."
He lifts up a large crystal from the center of the cavern. "I will use this Magma Stone to command the volcano's eruptions! I'll get rich off of people wanting me to protect their properties! I am Charon, boss of the new Team Galactic!"
Andi mutters "What the fuck is going on?" Reaching for a pokéball. If they did have to fight she'll likely not be much use, given her pokémon are all either really low in their training or weakened by the heat of the room.
A whisper from the right. "Go, now!" A Croagunk appears, leaping from rock to rock towards the "boss". It snatches the Magma Stone from Charon's hands and books it back to the miscolored boulder.
"What the-"
"Excellent work, Croagunk!" The boulder falls to the ground as nothing more than a textured sheet. "Haha! I knew disguising myself as a boulder would work!" Andi recognized the man, it was that policeman from Jubilife! Looker, right?
"Now, old man. The International Police would like to extend a non-negotiable invitation to answer a few questions. I am sure you would like to tell us all about your new Team Galactic. The other commanders have fled, so you are all that is left."
The two grunts look to each other.
"I uhhh think it's time to make like a nanab berry."
"and split?"
"yeah, that." They book it past the two young adults and through the cave.
Charon blubbers for a while, trying to weasel his way out of the trouble (and handcuffs) he's in. "I-I-I I know nothing! N-nothing, I was... I was the most junior commander! J-just recently recruited!"
Looker smirked. "Well you can tell me all the nothing you know somewhere a little cooler. This climate cannot be good for your health. Officers!"
Two more policemen arrive to take him away.
[The video ends.]

Lucian watched, shocked, as Zane promptly rose from his chair. He hadn't seen Zane so livid since knowing him. "Not here." His silver gaze turned metallic, hand biting down into the rest.
Looker was unfazed by the harsh demand. His eyes flashed towards Lucian, brows furrowed. "It's him, isn't it?" Observing Zane's glower become darker, he pinched the bridge of his nose. "I am trying my best to remain patient with you but you have such a way of disturbing the Vespiquen nest," he muttered, tone oozing with sarcasm.
"You see him," Zane gracefully gestured over Lucian's form, "He is otherwise safe and unharmed. Or would you have me personally play chaperone and kindly escort him to you?"
"None of that is necessary at this point," Looker bit out. "But I appreciate your kind gesture."
Resuming his attention towards Lucian, Looker's expression became kinder. It did nothing to soothe Lucian's nerves however, his hand abruptly stroking Shiho's head. He rummaged through pockets, presenting a badge. It wasn't the same as the badges he was accustomed to seeing from the local forces. "I know you have several questions on your mind and I will answer them but for now, you can address me as Looker. I am part of a Special International Police Force and I have plenty of questions for you."
Kneeling down, he maintained this friendly air but was wary to approach further. He made note of the Flygon's growing agitation, fangs subtly bared.
He offered a half smile. "Ease up, Lucian. We have a lot to talk about."
Startled, Lucian went stiff. Shit… His eyes sought out Zane but the man had his back to him, shoulders locked, arms tightly folded against his chest. He was of no help to him. Lucian was unsure of the history between the both of them but he knew it ran deep for this reaction. His hands were tied.
"How do I know you can be trusted?" Lucian countered. "That badge could be fake for all I know."
"It is not fake, Lucian." Came Zane's voice. "Tell the kind officer what he needs to know so he can be on his way."
A break in Looker's features, a glare directed towards Zane. "We will talk later." Then he was all smiles once more. "It is only a few questions. You were the only one upon the Tower at the time of the incident. I need to know what happened."
Lucian avoided his gaze. "You know the rest. You have my name." He had a hunch Zane would have never uttered it to anymore. "You know Zapdos attacked the Tower and Ho-oh defended it. What more do you want?"
"That's not how the people tell the story. They say after their bout, Ho-oh scorched the Tower."
Lucian eerily went quiet. "That is a lie." He finally said. "Zhen was only trying to protect Bell Tower."
Looker waiting for that, eager to pounce. "Tell me then. How else did the Tower got in that state?"
For a moment, Lucian appeared to be tired. His body sagged against his seat. Shiho chirped by his side, concerned and angered at the stranger for pushing him. When she went to snap at Looker, Lucian gently grasped ahold of her snout, hand enveloping it. "Shhh Shiho," he scolded her.
"Zhen was… angered." Fear seeped in his spine, his body quivering. "I really don't know what happened back there." The Ho-oh was enraged. All the candor and banter they shared before. He hardly recognized the Phoenix. His last thoughts were focused on fleeing before he could get caught up any further. His Flygon on the same page, who was already soaring them urgently away from the scene.
"I could only feel the intense heat and electricity in the air. I didn't dare look back."
"There had to be something more," Looker urged him. "Tell me. What was wrong?"
A vivid scene appeared in front of his eyes. That of Zapdos distraught, out of control.
"Zapdos had crystals...," he began to describe, unsure. "Jammed into its neck."
He hadn't missed Looker looking away and Zane suddenly locking eyes with him.
Lucian's eyes narrowed. "You... the both of you know something about this, don't you," His tone was accusatory, his body tense.
Looker gave him a stern look. "You answered all I needed to know."

You know. Between the shady stuff that the International Police has done, between Anabel( though in my au, things are different but still), the SM protags ( Amsonia and Poppy/Pua), and now having literally funded the legendary hunters, I feel like once everything is taken care of, he should quit. I feel like he was going to anyway, his retirement getting closer , but I feel like TLH was the last straw for him. The patience that this man had was honestly admirable. In my version of him, he just knew that this organization wasn't great. He believed in the cause ( or at least the cause that was given to him) and fulfilled it ten fold. He genuinely wanted to do good. I can't exactly remember what I said for Anabel's situation, but I can certainly speak about Dante. Yes, Dante gave mega stones to Lysandre to help power up the ultimate weapon. But he didn't know. He was being manipulated by an adult that he trusted, and thus fell into a trap. Dante was still a kid. So it pained Looker to be the one who had to "punish" him, as if he was on par with Lysandre himself. It was either Dante helped Looker with his duties as interpol, or Dante will face more severe consequences. Which is just unfair, especially with Malva still running around. Dante's just a kid! Who honestly feels so lost and confused and guilty and the last thing he needs is Looker to essentially be his parole officer ( okay not literally, but you get my point).
Again, I can't say anything for Anabel and Ames n Poppy, so going straight for TLH. TLH effectively drained 10 years of Lookers life and just damaged his trust in the International Police ( it was steadily decreasing for years but this Was It). Looker knows when things are sketchy. He worked in the place for years. He does not simply believe that catching legendaries is for " protecting them from potential threats that wish to harm them and the world". If he was younger, maybe, but he's old tired and deeply misses his kid ( Emma). He's beginning to understand why Nanu is so....Nanu. He has voiced concerns for the project multiple times ( especially when getting in on the fact that Chosens are going to be involved. Looker knows a few Chosens. Dante is one of them). And then TLH defects and all hell breaks loose. Looker would have quit if the stakes weren't so dire.
At least he gets to see Emma and Dante again?

So Rise has been taken down? I mean, not surprised. Didn’t seem very legal.
Go easy on Mr Amar, I might not like anything they stand for but he helped me in a time of need. (A concussion is better than a migraine)
That makes sense why he wouldn’t know that Wellness orbs were eggs. I mean, I didn’t know either, however I didn’t go to school ever.
Thanks for taking down a company that scams people and egg bombs them. I think they tried to egg bomb me but got the local police office instead.
The lad was just missing his trainer, but also even then he did do some questionable things I won’t excuse.
Anyways I’m off I was raised not to talk to Interpol. Have any questions I’ll most likely be at any local pokemart.
@kits-blossoming-days (who did get one inkay but isn’t sure if they’re gonna be a full team member, blind baby Pokémon are a handful)
I'll have child support card sent to this person and Looker says he's going to have the team in Alola take charge of the rest of them. And quite frankly, this is so much nicer to deal with than Ultra Beasts.

I think I understand why Looker "gives you his codename"
It's the Looker Bureau, but it's not his anymore. At least, not that Looker's. Basically, it's like saying it's the <Player> Bureau now without changing the name.
Without the player ofc, I'm sure it's just that Emma is his successor and the main detective now while he returns to his life as an International Police officer since he can no longer stay.
ALL in all, it was pretty all right! I already knew the story beats but it still had its surprises.
However... I guess I'm just not personally as attached to this post game as I am the Sun Moon one? It was very sweet, but I do feel like this didn't tug at my heartstrings which appears to be the case for everyone else.
I don't know what it is. Maybe it was the wrong time, maybe I'm not the right person or personality for it?

Okay, no, I have thoughts about Looker and Emma Ace Attorney Investigations style game now. We'll call it, Pokemon Investigations. We can decide if there's a subtitle or not later.
So, spitballing some thoughts around here and then if I'm still feeling it I'll start drafting up some cases. Let's go. The rest of you can feel free to jump in with ideas this would be a great collaborative writing project (or more if I can find someone with some coding knowledge).
Gameplay would be in the Investigations style that way we can have the classic Ace Attorney gameplay without having to find an excuse to put Looker in a courtroom.
Two settings options: 1, an alternate universe where Looker stays in Kalos or 2, Pasio. I personally lean towards 1 because it allows for a more varied set of locales and more opportunities for mystery.
Mimi serves as the method for the game's special mechanic. While I'd like to do Psyche-Locks but considering the fact that the main gameplay look is the same as the courtroom, breaking down lies in testimony, they'd be redundant. Maybe something more like Apollo's bracelet could work. Mimi's thousand yard stare sees all your lies and nervous twitches. Your soul lays bare before her.
Looker and Emma have a Phoenix/Maya style dynamic.
There will be a ladder/stepladder debate this is non-negotiable.
The game starts simple,l obviously, as a way to ease the player in and give a tutorial. As such, I think the first case should be a Stolen Pokemon Case with mostly original characters except for Looker and Emma. The thief is caught and everything's wrapped up nice and tight. No loose ends.
From the Second Case onward we start getting into murders. This is also where we could start dropping hints at an overarching plot. Personally, I kinda want it to be established that unlike in Ace Attorney, murders are not the standard. Looker and Emma deal with Missing Pokemon cases, not murders, and while Looker isn't a stranger to death as a part of his job as an International Police Officer, his job wasn't to investigate it.
In setting 1 (Looker Stays AU), the murders end up getting Looker thrown back into the Interpol life he tried to leave behind, with old cases coming back to haunt him.
All the Murders are significant enough to be investigated by Interpol with Anabel serving as the main Detective and, as a result, one of your main opponents. Essentially, she serves the same role as Shi-Long Lang.
Anabel refuses to let Looker and Emma investigate at first because they're civilians and not Interpol but they eventually convince her.
They start in Kalos but travel to other regions, likely ending in Alola where Nanu shows up.
Zinnia shows up at some point because I like her and she'd be a great witness to go up against.
Should we kill off canon characters? I'm not sure I have the heart to do that we should probably stick to OCs.
The music would ideally be pokemon-ified versions of Ace Attorney tracks or ace attorney-ified versions of Pokemon tracks (for example, a Pokemon-Style objection and confrontation theme or an Ace Attorney style remix of Heirs to Eternity or Emma's Theme). We could even have an Objection theme that incorporates Looker's theme.
Since Emma would have Xerosic's Pokemon we could have Pokemon Battles maybe? Or Pokemon Battles that are combined with Logic Chess so that instead of breaking imaginary Chess Pieces when you outmaneuver your opponent, you land a hit on their Pokemon. That might be too complicated.

What if the Looker we met in ORAS was a Faller from the non-Mega Evolution timeline, just like Anabel?!
That was my original theory, but it’s very difficult to writeinto a comprehensive fiction. Suspension of disbelief can only take us so far, after all.
My original timeline was:
Looker is born in Red
Jumps to ORAS’s timeline
Then we have the events of Diamond/Pearl/Platinum
Black & White
X & Y
And finally Sun & Moon
I really love the idea of the global police agent on the S.S.Anne being Looker. So much so, in fact, that the long’fic I started in Decemberran with this theory.
But, uh, writing a history for Looker is more difficult than it sounds.
The two biggest things to consider when putting together thishistory are his amnesia and his career, because across all the games it isLooker’s career that defines him, not just because of his missions, butbecause, well, we only know him by his code name.
(Apologies, this got long.)
1.) Amnesia
Looker has amnesia in ORAS but that doesn’t mean he keeps it.The first thing to decide with him, regardless of whether or not he’s comefrom a different timeline, is: what’s up with his amnesia? Like Anabel’s it isretrograde, which means he’s only lost previous memories and has no troubleforming new ones. That said, does he get his old memories back or, like Anabel, does he at best remember just a few inconsequential details? Does he evenremember his name?
Anabel is the only other amnesiac person we’ve seen in-game; we’renever really made aware of what caused her amnesia in the first place, either.Lusamine, Guzma, the Sun/Moon protag: they were all in Ultra Space and didn’tlose their memories because of it, so is it a prolonged period there thatcaused her amnesia? Was it trauma? Or was a combination of both?
See, my original theory was that Looker was just like Anabel:the dimension shift/trauma he experienced was too much for his brain and henever regained his memories. Worse, he didn’t get his name back, either. Thisis why Anabel, who doesn’t go by a code name, calls him Looker: his code nameis literally all he has by way of a name. ORAS kind of hinted at this with thewhole amnesia thing/his code name being the only name we ever hear him referredto.
But…this brings with it a LOT of issues. First, it’s impossibleto guess whether or not Looker’s amnesia is permanent the way Anabel’s issuggested to be, but pretending it is, we have to consider suspension ofdisbelief: could he have worked closely with Anabel for at least a handful ofyears without her learning of his amnesia? Without her suspecting something wasoff about him? It’s possible he could keep a lid on it, but, I think, notwithout refusing to ever talk about his personal life, which makes me thinktheir working relationship would be, well, kind of…tense. (See also: personnelfiles, coworkers, et cetera; the truth would be bound to come out, even if it’snot something other people are supposed to mention. Like, let’s be real: twoamnesiacs working together is going to start a flurry of confused rumors withinInterpol.)
There is another option, of course—the only other one. We cangive him his memories back, which means he’ll remember his name, hisprofession, the names of people he thinks he works with. Not that it will dohim any good in another dimension, but he might know enough classifiedinformation (perhaps about Team Rocket) to make Interpol believe his claimshave some validity.
Which brings us to:
2.) Career
This isn’t a problem so much as something that has to beseriously considered. What are the chances that someone who was a global policeagent would become a faller and then, in another timeline, be recruited by whatis essentially the same organization?
Okay, yes, before you can say it: I am aware that Interpolrecruits fallers. The original faller-bait woman is one example and Anabel isanother. Both were most assuredly unqualifiedfor recruitment and yet were recruited off the street with no credentials andno history. Cool.
But the problem with this happening to Looker, too, is that itgives him a very personal stake in this fallers-as-bait business.
And it also leads us tothe question: why isn’t Looker beingused as bait, then, if he’s a faller?
The obvious answer wouldbe, “Well, he just doesn’t carry enough energy on him,” which makes sense.Remember, the UB from 10 years ago went after his and Nanu’s team member—not Looker. However, as stated above, why would Interpol recruit him if he’s a defunctfaller and has no credentials or history?
Don’t worry—I’ll get toit.
Personally I feel that there are only so many options available for a basic history for Looker: either he is a faller or he is not; either he regains his memories or he does not.
In every instance, he will have lost his memory at least temporary due to [insert event here]. And in every instance he still ends up in the same situation: working for Interpol as a detective using the code name 100kr/Looker.
So here are the four options I think are most likely (and of course, if anyone has anything to add to these/any other combinations, I’d be happy to read them, so feel free to reblog & add to this):
#1: Looker is from another dimension; he doesn’t regain his memories and isrecruited SOLELY because he is a faller.
This is the ONLY way to make permanent retrograde amnesiaLooker work, IMO. It’s possible he could remember a few inconsequential things butbecause he goes strictly by his code name, and has turned it into a real name(almost as if it started as a joke and then became real) it stands to reasonthat this version of Looker doesn’t actually know what his birth name was.
Consider the TVseries Get Smart. 99 always goes by 99; in fact, her real nameis never revealed and even after the two are married, Max continues to call her99. Max, however, is known interchangeably as Max and Agent 86 by pretty mucheveryone. As far as how this relates to Looker: Anabel only ever calls Lookerby his code name. (But she doesn’t seem to have one, herself...or at least, she doesn’t care to use it.)
In order for Interpol to decide to recruit Looker, he had to have something of value that they wanted/needed. In this case, it would be his status as a faller, so we have to assume that when he was found, the energy levels on him were high enough that Interpol recruited him despite his lack of credentials--in much the same way they recruited Anabel).
That said, we know thatduring the event “10 years ago” Looker and Nanu lost a teammate toGuzzlord. So if you’re going to assume Looker was recruited because of hisstatus as a faller, then you have to assume, too, that by the time the eventof “10 years ago” took place, the energy levels on him had fallen too lowto make him of any use.
This would suggest that between ORAS and this event of “tenyears ago” there is a gap of of time to allow those energy levels to drop into uselessness: a couple of years at least. This would imply that ORAS is at least 12/13 years before the events of Sun & Moon instead of the generally-assumed gap of 11ish years.
So thenthis timeline would look something like this:
Looker from Red ended up in ORAS with amnesia, was recruited byInterpol, lost his usefulness as a faller, but proved useful in other areas(due to years memory-muscle experience from another timeline that he doesn’t remember) andso kept his job.
#2: Looker is from another dimension; he is a faller, he does get his memory back, and he isrecruited by Interpol because he has experience.
Looker’s status as a faller in this case is just a bonus; his energy levels were toolow to be of much use from the start. Because he got his memories back we can safely assume that unlike Anabel, he didn’tspend very much time in Ultra Space.
This allows him to kind of jump right back into working withouttoo much of a problem.
Regaining his memories means that he has useful information on his person. It might not be all 100% applicable/correct due to this dimension being a slightly different one, but surely some of it is useful—or at least gives his claims some immediate validity.
Not that he especially needs it. Interpol knows about fallers (after all, they find and recruit the woman who later dies on Poni Island), so they know there is a very high chance that Looker is telling the truth about his career in the other timeline. They would approach him regardless of whether or not he gets his memories back, but with his memories, they may very well want to recruit him solely for his preexistingskillset.
This arrangement also allows for ORAS to take place closer to the “event of tenyears ago” but I’d probably put at least a year in between them for sanity’ssake (catching up on training, getting reacquainted with the world, getting into the swing of things at work).
Thistimeline would be:
Looker from Red ended up in ORAS with amnesia but recovered hismemories and investigated the situation he was in. He was able to join theInternational Police due to his skillset. As soon as the term “faller” was given to him along with a definition he was able to put two and two together. I think for sanity’s sake he would probably be made aware of this early on just because he would try to get in contact with his family ASAP and would fail spectacularly.
These aren’t terrible theories by any means, but they are prettycomplicated. I find the latter a bit easier to swallow, personally, since itdoesn’t stretch suspension of disbelief too far.
(Additionally, I’m pretty sure Generations wasgoing for the “officer on board the S.S. Anne” being Looker with the whole connection to Team Rocket thing, which, in a manner of speaking, helps support the theory that Looker is a faller.)
Anyway we have two smaller theories to consider:
#3: Looker is a faller who didn’t leave hisoriginal timeline.
This means he recovered his memories (probably, due to even lesstime in the wormhole/lack of timeline shift trauma), is a defunct faller with little to no wormhole energy onhim, and has his family/friends/job all waiting for him when he recovers from his ordeal.
This brings with it some huge advantages when it comes to writing something consistent, either fanfiction or RP. In this sort of situation, Looker is grounded in the world more firmly and has lifelong connections that keep him there. It also means that even though he’s been lying to Anabel about herself all these years...he hasn’t been lying about his own life...and hasn’t had a reason to keep anything personal from her, either.
He’s still a faller by definition, but he might not feel the same connection to Anabel that a faller-from-another-dimension version of Looker might feel. Anabel lost everything, after all, and Looker in this case would have only been temporarily inconvenienced.
This timeline would look like this:
Looker was born in the ORAS timeline, was pulled into a wormhole and spat back out again into the same timeline. He regained his memories after a short time and was able to carry on with his life almost as if nothing had even happened to him.
#4: Looker isn’t a faller at all; he was onlyin a bad accident on the S. S. Anne.
This could be split into two categories: one where he regains his memories and one where he does not, but I personally think it’s more interesting if he regains them.
The thing is, due to circumstance, it’s very likely that Looker himself mightsuspect he is a faller due to evidence that seems too obvious tojust be a coincidence. In reality, he isn’t actually a faller at all...just anInterpol agent who met with a bit of a bad time, probably on the S. S. Anne.
This theory is really simple, but it does have some potential for entertainment due to him mistaking himself for a faller.
The timeline is:
Looker was in a bad accident/met with a bad time on the S. S. Anne and washed up on the beach in Hoenn sans memories. He regained his memories, picked up with his life where he left off, but later ends up suspecting he’s a faller due to all of the similarities between his situation and Anabel’s.
No matter what theory I go with I’ll always choose onewhere Looker regains his memories because I don’t think two people sufferingfrom permanent retrograde amnesia could work together for as long as Looker and Anabel have without the truthcoming out—not without Looker having to go to extremes to keep her from putting the pieces together...which does not seem to canonically be the case. All things told, they act quite friendly around one another.
Currently #2 is my default go-to theory just because it works tolerably well (and I’d rather not piggyback on other people’s headcanons if I can help it). Plus there is a lot of room for Quality Angst™. Think about it: all these years Anabel probably felt incredibly alone but he’s gone through something similar and has been there the whole time unable to confide in her.
I can’t deny, though, that a part of me is like: isn’t itangsty enough that the last ten years Looker has known more about Anabel thanAnabel has? Isn’t it angsty enough that she’s been super promoted just to beused as fucking bait? That her position wasn’t honestly earned and she doesn’tknow it yet? That her bosses don’t give a SINGLE shit about her health? That Lookerhas to deceive some kid to get their help in protecting Anabel? That Looker hasto deceive ANABEL to recruit the kid in the first place and has to lie to her face when he’safraid she’ll die because Interpol didn’t give her anybody who could actuallyhelp???
Adding more onto it steps so close to overdramatic badfic territory that it makes it scary to think about writing. To work well, it would have to be incredibly well-written. Looker’s character would have to be well-established and remain so throughout the entire story, and all of the important questions would have to be addressed: for example, Looker remembers everything but has been separated from his family* whichbegs the question: what’s worse, knowing what you’re missing or being obliviousto it? Is this even comparable?
*This could get really angsty, too. It’s bad enough to lose yourparents/siblings/grandparents/nephews/nieces but it’s also possible he wastaken away from a significant other and/or children as well. Not to mention all of his friendships, contacts, acquaintances. They all probably think he’s dead.
Too, Anabel’s writing is really important; and you might say, “but this post is really about Looker” and that’s true, but please don’t forget that Anabel, as a fellow faller, is incredibly important and a big part of Looker’s life. Regardless of how they view one another, they are on friendly terms and Looker goes way the hell out of his way to try to protect her; this implies a certain level of closeness. It’s not “how he treats everyone” either: the dude risks the life of an 11-year-old to act as PvP DPS peel-bait without even telling the kid that’s what they’re being recruited for. He’s a little ruthless about protecting her. They are close. They have to be for that kind of behavior to make any sense at all.
Anyway, Looker in the case of #2 at least remembers himself. Even separated from his family and friends, he knows what makes him him. This is not a luxury Anabel has been afforded in this timeline. She probably has a lot of self-image issues (among other things), and they need to be included if for no other reason than as a foil to Looker’s dilemma/situation/outlook. That said, it’s easy to fall into the trap of making Anabel’s entire personality about her amnesia, and that is a.) boring, and b.) pretty offensive to people who suffer from or have experienced memory issues/loss of any kind.
What I’m getting at here is that even though picking a theory is pretty easy, writing it seamlessly is not. The characters have to stay in character according to what we know of them, and their relationships to one another can’t suffer as a result of that attempt.
Anyway, out of all four theories, I find #2 and #3 to be the most likely, followed by #4. #2/3/4 run less risk of Looker and Anabel both reading as exactly the same in writing, and IMO would give an author less trouble than the others. #1 could be fun but like I said, it brings with it a lot of issues with regards to writing Looker’s relationship to Anabel, and probably others, too (in particular Nanu).
I’m not about picking a route just because it’s easy, but I tried to make #1 work and it didn’t work for me personally; I stressed myself out trying to make it make sense.
In the end, I’ll probably always use #2 just because it’s been working pretty well for me. (I do realize my Looker blog kind of contradicts this in a thread but I was still feeling everything out when I got to that part, so consider that retconned if you happened to have read it lmao.)
The TL;DR version: I've been on board that train for a while and I agree it’s one of the more plausible theories.

Considering how closely Anabel and Looker are tied to Faller lore, that might provide another reason why they (or at least they specifically) are involved with this case, as Ingo is, at the very least, a very similar case.
Exactly! The reasoning they give Mint is the reasoning relevant to what they need to know so that they will cooperate.
The real reason Looker and Anabel started looking into the pokemon theft is because of the bizarre behavior of Ingo. He was missing for three years and when he is finally seen again it’s in a completely different region and behaving entirely out of character from what he was known to be like. And the fact that the pokemon he had been accused of stealing were all historical forms that have been extinct for centuries. It’s all very suspicious and Looker can’t help but feel in his gut that Ingo could be a faller, or at the very least something similar.
He flies to Sinnoh, which does bring back a few sad memories as this was where he had caught his now late crogunk. There he works with the police to see what their angle is, finding it to be entirely focused on tracking down Ingo and this mystery girl. He of course believes there to be more to this then just a man hunt and starts investigating!
Also, when he discovers that Elesa and Emmet are also in Sinnoh he tracks them down to hear their side of things. The two are less then trusting of him due to their experience with the Sinnoh police. So far it has been either stone walling them, or demanding that they return to Unova so that Emmet stops inadvertently confusing the public and the officers tracking down his brother.
He explains to them his intentions of finding the truth of the mater and that he will investigate both Ingo and the research lab to do so. He asks them about Ingo, what they know of this mystery girl he’s traveling with, and if they have had any contact with either of them. After which he will give them his contact information and request that they keep in touch.
Later! When word finally gets out that both Akari and Ingo have amnesia, Looker is convinced that his gut instinct was right about them being some kind of faller. He starts digging deeper into the research lab which is when he noticed that the intern/grandkid he’s been tracking looks to be pulling away. He’d take this chance to get inside information and convince Mint to go back in. It’s not long after this that Elesa calls him in a panic informing him that Emmet had been kidnapped.
Ok, this is getting away from me! But yes! Lots of fun ways to include Looker and possibly Anabel as well!
Also, timeline wise, I know that Looker first official appearance was platinum, but we’re ignoring that since we’re already moving Diamond/Pearl/Platinum down the time line to be around the same time as Sword and Shield.

Hey anon I really love the Ethan stuff do you mind if I make that cannon
Also I did this
Warnings blood guts vomit and body horror and Cyrus having a breakdown
Cynthia was a wreck with worry and stress. She splashed cold water on her face but it didn't help the now growing fever she had. She needed to find Cyrus to make sure he was ok. She knew he had self harm habits in the past. She hoped that this trip with Emmet wasn't one of those. He didn't bring his phone which was the biggest red flag, and Volo wasn't helping, Roark went to visit Emmet's forest with a weak excuse at best. She just felt like her world was coming apart. She didn't want to lose her brother.
"Cynthia, you'll be my second." She frowns and the weird guy in her reflection added to her worry, it was probably a side effect of the combination of fever and stress. She paid it no mind, wiping herself off and headed back to work. She knew she looked pale and feverish, but that wasn't an excuse for everyone to look at her with pity, she just needed to know her brother was ok then she would go home to recover.
The people in the international police kept staring at Cyrus as he entered. He knew was gone for over a month, he also didn't contact anyone else, maybe he deserved the stares. He approached Looker's office and knocked quietly and was let in with a soft come in. "I apologize for my absence, I was researching Emmet."
Looker glanced at Cyrus, he did look healthier then when he left, so maybe he needed to reconnect with nature. He sighs looking up at Cyrus from his desk. "I have a simple task for you."
Cyrus nods and readies for anything Looker could ask from him. "Of course sir."
"You live with your sister, correct." He pauses watching Cyrus nod. "I need you to take her home, she looks extremely feverish, and refuses to go home. Just bring her home and look after her."
Cyrus frowns. "I didn't mean to worry her, but I'll do it." He nods and leaves the office looking for his sister. He spots her slumped over her desk half asleep. "Cynthia?"
Cynthia turns her head but doesn't lift it until she sees Cyrus. "Cyrus, where the hell have you been, are you ok? You forgot your phone and inhaler." He gets up on unsteady feet; her long black coat has long been discarded to the back of her chair.
Cyrus frowns, Cynthia had always been taller than him, which wasn't an issue, but she looked like she was going to collapse on top of him. "I, well I was researching Emmet, it just went on longer than I thought it would. I apologize for worrying you."
Cynthia used her desk to keep herself steady. "Next time bring your phone Cyrus, I'm assuming Looker told you to take me home." She sighs struggling to keep her eyes open. "I was really worried about you Cyrus, I even went to granddad to see if you went there."
Cyrus frowns and looks away. "I didn't mean to worry you, I'm sorry Cynthia." He takes her hand. "Come on, you look ready to collapse, don't make me release your pokemon."
Cynthia hums not really listening anymore. "You used to call me Thia, why did you stop? When did you get so sad?" Cynthia is mumbling leaning on Cyrus who has her coat and pokemon in his other hand. "I missed you." Her words were slurring together.
Cyrus grimaced, feeling the heat coming off Cynthia in waves. She was really feverish and he needed to get her something cold. "I stopped because I wasn't a kid anymore Cynthia. You have a high fever don't you?"
"Mmmaybe." She hums stumbling forward with Cyrus keeping her balanced. "Mmmh I really missed you. You're my only brother." She was leaning heavily on Cyrus.
Cyrus frowns he has never really seen his sister truly sick like this. He really wasn't equipped to deal with this emotional stuff. "Let's just go home, I'll run you an ice bath." He had a sinking feeling this wasn't going to end well.
…….
Cyrus finally got Cynthia home, he wasn't really equipped to take care of someone else. He was always sick one growing up, and had to be taken care of. He was running a cold bath when he heard a thud coming from outside. He rushed to find the source, finding Cynthia on the floor in a state of undress, her skin was red in patches and bleeding in other parts. "Cynthia?" Getting only a groan in response Cyrus with his newfound strength picked up his sister and placed her in the bath. She was even warmer than before.
She didn't even register being moved, she was too hot and her body felt as if it was being ripped apart. Once she was in the water she relaxed enough that the pain had time to sink deep into her bones. She grits her teeth hard enough that they begin to crack.
The cracking noise startles Cyrus, he doesn't know where it's coming from, and the water is turning red. He was panicking, he didn't know what was wrong, did Cynthia get a rare disease from searching for him. Was this his fault? He was wringing his hands trying not to have a breakdown, his sister needed him. "Cynthia you have to be ok, you promised me you wouldn't leave when I got back."
The water was turning a darker red, and it only made Cyrus panic show on his face. He needed to get her out of the water, and he needed to get her out of the rest of her clothes. He wasn't equipped for this, he couldn't do this, he had to do this. "Ok ok ok let me get towels Thia I'll be back." He really was panicking. He hasn't used that nickname for her in years.
He took the door off the hinges to the closet that had all the towels in it. He didn't have good control over his new strength in general; it was worse when panicked. He would mentally note that but his mind wasn't in the right headspace. He dragged Cynthia out of the bath and onto a pile of clean towels that were quickly stained red. Flesh came off and stuck to Cyrus's hands, and a bubbling panic scream was building in the back of his throat.
He undressed Cynthia to the best of his ability, and more and more skin was coming off with every light touch. Blood was now soaking into the tiles below them. "Humans don't have this much blood to spare Thia, you have to stop please." He was shaking, discarding the ruined clothes to the corner when they fell with a wet smack. He could feel tears drip down his cheeks. "I'm sorry for leaving, I'm sorry for team galactic, I'm sorry for everything. You have to get better." He was crying and shaking as he sat next to his sister.
He pulled himself together enough an hour later, everything was covered in blood. The towels were ruined, the air had a thick scent of blood and flesh in the air. Cynthia looked even worse, her breath was labored, her hair was caked in blood and bits of flesh, and her skin was practically melting off her body. Cyrus swallowed the growing bile in the back of his throat. "I need to get you somewhere soft and clean to let you rest. That's right, all you need is rest. I'll clean up don't worry Thia I'll make sure everything is ok." He was in a growing pit of denial that anything was wrong as he picked up his sister hearing the dripping blood come off of her as he carried her to her bed. "I'll be back as soon as I'm done cleaning Thia ok."
Cyrus spent the next 6 hours in a fugue state cleaning every drop of blood and bit of flesh he could find until the bathroom, and the trail of blood looked like it was brand new. Several black garbage bags were filled to the brim with hazardous material. He collapsed to the floor, his contacts were in their case thrown to a corner of his room along with his binder he couldn't have them on anymore, too constricting. He had to check on Cynthia, it was terrifying he couldn't stand the idea of finding her corpse.
He swallowed his fear and with shaking legs he cautiously opened Cynthia's door to her room. The smell of blood hit him full force, her mattress was completely ruined with all her bedding. He could see her chest rise up and down which was a hopeful sign. She looked horrible, but she was alive thankfully, or not Cyrus refused to accept anything but that possibility. "Hey Thia I'm going to take your pokemon and feed them, don't worry I'll be good. I know I look different but I'm ok. A lot of stuff happened." He frowns. He sounded like a child, but he couldn't pull himself out of this mindset.
"I'll make dinner after ok, I'll wrap yours until you're ready to eat ok." He closes the door softly shaking, but moves forward to feed all of their pokemon. They were confused to see him, but they didn't comment on his appearance, his own pokemon were telling them what happened. They all looked at him and could tell he was on the verge of another breakdown. Cynthia Garchomp approached Cyrus. His name was snaggle tooth, tooth for short.
"Are you ok?" Tooth asked crouching down to be closer in height.
The dam broke and Cyrus started to ball his eyes out. "Thia is hurt and I can't help her." He barely gets out clinging to the rough skin pokemon. "I can't help her."
Tooth just gently pats Cyrus's head. "Mistress Cynthia will make it through this she always has." He didn't sound confident, but it was enough to get Cyrus to relax enough that his own pokemon could comfort him.
………..
Emmet was banging on Cyrus's door, it's been a week and he has missed their agreed upon training date. Volo was busy babysitting himself, and he heard from Looker Cynthia was sick so Cyrus was taking care of her. He would have liked a text or something Cyrus had Volo's number. He entered the unlocked home and the smell of blood immediately entered his nostrils. His hair stood on end as he readied himself to see the worst.
The house was incredibly clean, and nothing seemed out of place except for Cyrus who had bloodstained on his clothes and a lot of bloodied towels. He was mumbling to himself and didn't notice Emmet.
"Cyrus, you missed our training day. Why are you covered in blood?" Emmet has the same smile on his face watching Cyrus jump, finally noticing Emmet.
"M-my apologizes to you,Emmet, my sister is sick and I am doing my best to help her." Cyrus stammers out he looked awful, sleep deprived, and shaking. "I was just helping clean her off."
Emmet hums it was fresh blood so she was alive, and Cyrus looked like a zombie so he probably didn't do anything drastic, except to himself. "Have you eaten?"
"Yes comet makes sure I do, and I've made a second meal for Thia when she is ready to eat." Cyrus mumbles putting the towels into the wash wringing his hands.
Emmet actually frowns; he smelled the same change in the air Cyrus had but it was filled with a bitter iron smell that made him sick. "Let me take over, you need rest."
"NO." Cyrus shouts, shaking a dark aura surrounds him as if he was about to attack. "Thia is my sister I have to take care of her, I promised." He was unstable mentally at best right now his pokemon were the ones forcing him to take care of himself.
Emmet sighs looking around at the perfectly clean house and to the Wevile who was looking up at him. "I will make sure nobody bothers you guys." He says quietly leaving the home and closing the door behind him. Forcing Cyrus to do anything in this state would make things even worse, he knew that he was like him when Ingo first vanished. Nothing good would come from forcing his hand.
………
Cynthia woke up with a killer headache and matching body aches. She was in her room, she remembered Cyrus took her home. She had a fever but it broke because her bed was soaked. Panic soon set in as she sat up, she was naked and the wetness wasn't sweat but blood the smell of blood and bleach filled her, and she emptied the contents of her stomach to the floor it was a matching red, and she could see bits of flesh and maybe organs in the vomit.
She was trying to figure out what happened, did Cyrus do something? No, she quickly ruled that out looking to her bedside table where water was waiting and several handwritten notes were stacked next to it. She couldn't help but grimace Cyrus only wrote her stuff like this when he truly was in a spiral. She got up and fell back onto her bed like there was weight on her back. She swallowed a scream seeing Giratina wings and tail attached to herself. She was shaking trying to figure out what was wrong and if she was seeing things.
She took a breath, drank the water, and touched her wings and she jumped feeling it. It felt foreign but familiar at the same time. She got up again adjusting herself to the new center of gravity she had. She tried to comb her hands through her hair but stopped when she felt horns. She took another deep breath and decided not to touch on that. She got a clean blanket from her closet, wrapped it the best she could around herself and left her room.
Cyrus stood still like a deerling in headlights. "Thia y-you're awake."
Cynthia grimaced again, Cyrus only called her that when he was sick or when he was entirely too stressed. When was the last time he slept he looked awful. "Cyrus…." Her voice was scratchy from disuse. "Cyrus please don't freak out."
Cyrus ran up to hug her causing her new wings to fully stretch out causing two holes in the drywall. "You're ok Thia you're ok." He was crying, his contacts were irritating him because of the crying, but his sister was ok so it didn't matter.
Cynthia was stunned, Cyrus hated physical affection, and she just caused major damage to the drywall by accident. "Cyrus I'm ok I promise, come on let go Cy." She rubs Cyrus's head messing with his hair then she feels the bumps of horns that are regrowing. She frowns. "Cyrus, do you know what happened to me?"
Cyrus clung to Cynthia and mumbled into her shoulder. "It's Giratina fault not mine I promise, I promise I've been good, Thia."
She sighs knowing she wasn't going to get answers with her brother in this mental state. "Alright Cy you're going to bed, and I'm going to shower." She drags her younger brother to his bed and tucks him in. "We will talk when you're awake ok."
Cyrus could barely keep his eyes open when the covers were puked over him. "Made you food Thia, and I took care of your pokemon. I've been good " He yawns and immediately falls asleep.
Took care of her pokemon, how long was she asleep? She didn't know she just made her way to the bathroom which was way too clean, was Cyrus stress cleaning? She answered her own question seeing everything so clean she can see her reflection in almost every surface. She sighs and gets into the shower finally feeling better after scrubbing the last of the blood off of her.
She sighs and finally looks over herself after she dries herself off with a pink towel. Her new eyes kind of creeped her out. She categorizes her new body parts, wings, horns, a tail, and armor, and different color skin patches that match Giratina. She sighs, was that why Cyrus disappeared before he felt a change coming? Was that mystery man She kept seeing in the mirror Giratina? It probably was and she groaned heading to her room and trying to find clothes she can put on.
She manages to modify an old sweatshirt and sweatpants she has to fit, and sits on the couch with one of the many meals Cyrus had made for her stacked in the fridge. Looking at her phone it was a little over three weeks she's been going through this. She made the calls she had to inform everyone she was ok and it was just a bad cold.
What else could she say, she couldn't tell them the truth they would think Cyrus did this to her. She sighs, deciding that she should probably call Volo to talk to Emmet about this.
The phone rang for a moment before Volo clumsily answered it. "This is the great Volo, what can I do for you er Cynthia right or is this Cyrus using your phone?"
Cynthia sighs. "This is Cynthia, Volo put Emmet on the phone." She waited for a moment hearing the phone fumble for a second then a familiar hello filled her ears.
"Cynthia, I'm glad to hear you are awake " Emmet says quietly. "I'm assuming you have questions about your transformation. Your brother went through the same thing. It was terrifying."
Cynthia pauses, that explains why Cyrus was so freaked out, and probably why it took so long for Cyrus to return home. "Tell me everything."
