Pawsome Voyage with Comfy Crates for Pet-Friendly Travel
International shipping of pets can be a very stressful experience both for the pet and its owner. Be it shifting dogs internationally or availing of cat international shipping services, the comfort and safety of your furry friends are of the utmost concern during the journey. Recent innovations in the design of crates for pets are making international transport much more comfortable and safe. This development is shifting our thinking about shipping animals abroad.
Tumblr media
When it comes to international pet shipping, crate design is paramount. The crate should be able to provide a safe, comfortable space that minimises stress and keeps the pet safe. To this end, new innovations have targeted some key areas, starting with ventilation and airflow. Modern crates incorporate advanced ventilation systems allowing maximum airflow. This is quite important during lengthy flights in which pets require a constant supply of fresh air, especially with pets with a heavy fur coat.
Another major innovation in the crate design of pets is temperature control. Some advanced crates are fitted with temperature controls that keep the pet at comfort, regardless of the climatic conditions outside. This assumes much significance during the overseas shipping of pets. Ergonomic designs, suiting the natural posture and movement of pets, reduce stress. For example, a crate with an interior that is contoured to mimic the natural positions that pets take to burrow or nest allows for comfortable space. Materials used in modern pet crates are stronger and safer than ever. They can withstand impact, therefore preventing escape, and keeping the pet safe while in transit.
Tumblr media
Some of the very latest developments include smart crates fitted with sensors that keep track of the condition of the pet. These sensors can monitor temperature, humidity, and even the pet's movement to alarm the owner or handler in time for emergencies. In tandem with the current high agenda on sustainability, there are crates available that have eco-friendly material constituents. Other than being good for the environment, they are also free from harmful chemicals, thus providing a safe environment for the pet. Moreover, crates that have an interior that one can customise allow a pet owner to add features that will give much-needed comfort to pets, like soft bedding, water dispensers, and even toys. Customisation like this greatly lessens the anxiety pets might feel during international transport.
What is equally important to advanced crate designs is meticulous logistics in handling and transporting pets behind international pet transport. This is regarding timely customs clearance, careful transfer handling, and conformity with international regulations. For example, Prime Logistics, a freight-forwarding and customs clearance expert company, goes on to expound on how important it is to have a good logistic partner when considering international animal transport. The details of their attention to overall safety are key elements of making sure pets are delivered safely. They boast a specialised service for shifting dogs and cats internationally. They also deal with shifting birds, rabbits and hamsters internationally, handling all aspects of international pet shipping services to make the process smoother for the owners.
Tumblr media
Innovations in the design of pet crates are changing the face of shipping animals across the world. Comfort, safety, and customisation are some key facets that these changes in the crating system emphasise to reduce the stress encountered by pets while being transferred. Backed by the expertise of reliable freight forwarders, like Prime Logistics, now pet owners can breathe easy. With international courier services or the shifting of pets abroad, these innovations and services are making the journey much more agreeable for both the pets and their masters.
These contemporary designs, combined with the right logistics partner, can make all the difference in ensuring a smooth and safe journey for your pets.

Humanizing Your Characters (And Why You Should)
To humanize a character is not to contort an irredeemable villain into the warped funhouse mirror reflection of a hero in the last 30 seconds to gain “narrative subversion” points. To humanize is not to give said villain a tragic backstory that validates every bad choice they make in attempt to provide nuance where it does not deserve to be.
To humanize a character, villain or otherwise, is to make them flawed. Scuff them up, give them narrative birthmarks and scars and imperfections. Whether it’s your hero, their love interest, the comic relief, the mentor, the villain, the rival, these little narrative details serve to make all your literary babies better.
Why should you humanize your characters?
To do this means to write in details beyond those that service the plot, or the themes, or the motifs, morals, foreshadowing, or story. These might be (and usually are) entirely unimportant in the grand scheme of things. So, if I wrote lengthy diatribes on pacing and why every detail must matter, and character descriptions and thematic importance, why am I now suggesting go free-for-all on the fluff?
Just like real people have quirks and tics and beliefs and pet peeves that serve our no greater purpose, so should fictional people. Your average reader doesn’t have the foggiest idea what literary devices are beyond metaphor, simile foreshadowing, and anecdote, but they can tell when the author is using motif and theme and all the syntactical marvels because it reads that much richer, even if they can’t pinpoint why.
And, for shipping fodder, these tiny little details are what help your audience fall in love with the character. It doesn’t even have to be in a book – Taylor Swift (whether you like her or not) never fills her music with sexual innuendo or going clubbing. She tells stories filled with human details like dancing in the refrigerator light. People can simultaneously relate to these very specific and vivid experiences, and say “not that exactly, but man this reminds me of…” and that’s (part of) the reason her music is so popular.
What kinds of narratives need these details?
All of them. Visual media, audio, written, stage play. Now, to what degree and excess you apply these details depends on your tone, intended audience, and writing style. If your style of writing is introspection heavy, noir character drama, you might go pretty heavy on the character design.
But even if you’re writing a kids book with a scant few paragraphs of setting descriptors and internal narration, or you’re drawing a comic book – if you have characters you want people to care about, do this.
Animators, particularly, are very adept at humanizing non-human characters, because, unlike live acting, every single stroke of the pen is there with intent. They use their own reflections for facial references, record their own movements to draw a dance, and insert little bits of themselves into signature character poses so you know that *that* animator did this one.
How to humanize your characters.
I’m going to break this down into a couple sections: Costume/wardrobe, personality, beliefs/behavior/superstitions, haptics/proxemics/kinesics, and voice. They will all overlap and the sheer variety and possibilities are way too broad for me to capture every facet.
Costumes and Wardrobe
In the film Fellowship of the Ring, there’s a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment where, after Boromir is slain by the Uruk-Hai, Aragorn takes Boromir’s Gondorian vambraces to wear in his honor, and in honor of their shared country. He wears them the rest of the trilogy. The editing pays no extra attention to them beyond a split second of Aragorn tightening the straps, it never lingers on them, never reminds you that they’re there, but they kept it in nonetheless. His actor also included a hunting bow that didn't exist in the book because he's a roamer, a ranger, and needs to be able to feed himself, along with a couple other survival tools.
Aragorn wears plenty of other symbolic bits of costume – the light of the Evenstar we see constantly from Arwen, the Lothlorien green cloaks shared by the entire Fellowship, his re-forged sword and eventual full Gondorian regalia, but all those are Epic Movie Moments that serve a thematic purpose.
Taking the vambraces is just a small, otherwise insignificant character moment, a choice made for no other reason than that’s what this character would do. That’s what makes him human, not an archetype.
When you’re writing these details and can’t rely on sneaking them into films, you have to work a little harder to remind your audience that they exist, but not too often. A detail shifts from “human” to “plot point” when it starts to serve a purpose to the themes and story.
Inconsequentiality might be how a character ties, or doesn’t tie their shoelaces, because they just can’t be bothered so they remain permanent knots and tripping hazards. It might be a throw-away line about how they refuse to wear shorts and strictly stick to long pants because they don’t like showing off their legs. It might be perpetually greasy hair from constantly running their fingers through it with stress, or self-soothing. A necklace they fidget with, or a ring, a belt they never bother to replace even though they should, a pair of lucky socks.
Resist the urge to make it more meaningful than “this is just how they are”. If I’m using the untied shoelaces example – in Spiderverse, this became a part of the story’s themes, motifs, and foreshadowing, and doesn’t count. Which isn’t bad! It’s just not what I’m talking about.
Personality
In How to Train Your Dragon, Toothless does not speak. All his personality comes from how he moves, the noises he makes, and the expressions on his face. There’s moments, like in the finale, when his prosthetic has burned off and Hiccup tells him to hold on for a little bit longer, and you can clearly see on his face that he’s deeply uncertain about his ability to do so. It’s almost off the screen, another blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment. Or the beat of hesitation before he lets Hiccup touch him in the Forbidden Friendship scene. Or the irritated noise he makes when he’s impatiently waiting for Hiccup to stop chatting with his dad because they have a giant dragon to murder. Or when he slaps Hiccup with his ear fin for flying them into a rock spire.
None of those details *needed* to exist to endear you to his character or to serve the scenes they’re in. The scenes would carry on just fine without them. He’s a fictional dragon, yes, but these details make him real.
Other personality tics you could include might be a character who gets frustrated with tedious things very quickly and starts making little inteligible curses under their breath. Or how they giggle when they’re excited and start bouncing on their toes. Maybe they have a tic where they snap their fingers when they’re concentrating, trying to will an idea into existence. Or they stick their tongue out while they work and get embarrassed when another character calls them on it. They roll around in their sleep, steal blankets, drool, leave dishes in the sink or are neurotic with how things must be organized. They have one CD in their car, and actually use that CD player instead of the phone jack or Bluetooth. They sing in the shower, while they cook, or while they do homework, no matter how grating their voice.
They like the smell of new shoes or Sharpies. They hate the texture of suede or velvet or sticky residues. They never pick their socks up. They hate the overhead light in their room and use 50 lamps instead. They hate turning into oncoming traffic or don’t trust their backup camera. They collect Funko Pops and insist there’s always room for more.
And about a million others.
Beliefs, Behaviors, and Superstitions
*If you happen to be writing a story where superstitions have merit, maybe skip this one.* Usually, inevitably, these evolve into character centerpieces and I can’t actually think of one off the top of my head that doesn’t become this beyond the ones we all know. A few comedic examples do come to mind:
The Magic Conch in “Club Spongebob” and the sea-bear-proof dirt circle in “The Camping Episode”
Dean Winchester’s fear and panic-driven actions in “Yellow Fever” and “Sam, Interrupted”
The references to the trolls that steal left-foot socks in How to Train Your Dragon
I’m not a fan of wasting time writing a religious character doing their religious thing when Plot Is Happening, but smaller things are what I’m talking about. Like them wearing a cross/rosary and touching it when they’re nervous. Having a specific off-beat prayer, saying, or expression because they don’t believe in cursing.
The classic ones like black cats, ladders, broken mirrors, salt, sidewalk cracks can all be funny. Athletes have plenty, too, and some of them, particularly in baseball culture, are a bit ridiculous. Not washing socks or uniforms, having a team idol they donate Double Bubble to and also rub their toes. A specific workout routine, diet, team morale dance.
Other things, too. A character who’s afraid to go back downstairs once the lights are off, or fear the basement or the backyard shed. Or they’re really put-off by this old family photo for no reason other than how glassy their eyes look and it’s creepy. They like crystals, dreamcatchers, star signs, tarot, or they absolutely do not under any circumstances.
They believe in all the tried and true ways of predicting the weather like a grizzled old sailor. They believe in ghosts, vampires, werewolves, witches, skinwalkers, doppelgangers, fairies. They talk to the cat statue in their kitchen and named it Fudge Pop. They whisper to the spirit that possessed the fridge so it stops making all that racket, and half the time, it works every time. They wear yellow for good luck or carry a rabbit’s foot. They’re not religious at all but still throw prayers out to whoever’s listening because, you know, just in case. They sit by their window sill and talk to the moon and the stars and pretend like they’re in a music video when they’re driving through the city in the rain.
Haptics, Proxemics, and Kinesics
These are, for all you non-communication and psych majors out there, touch and physical contact, how they move, and how they move around other people.
Behold, your shipping fodder.
Two shining examples of proxemics in action are the famous “close talker episode of Seinfeld (of which every communication major has been subjected to) and Castiel’s not understanding of personal space (and human chronemic habits) in Supernatural.
These are how a character walks, if they’re flat-footed, clumsy, or tip-toers. If they make a racket or constantly spook the other characters. If they fidget or can’t sit still in a seat for five seconds, if they like to sit backwards or upside down. How they touch themselves, if they do a lot of self-soothing maneuvers (hugging themselves, rubbing their arms, touching their face, drawing their knees up, holding their neck, etc) or if they don’t do any self-soothing at all.
This is how they shake hands, if they dance while they cook or work. It’s how much space they let themselves take up, if they man-spread or keep their limbs in closer. How close they stand to others or how far. If they let themselves be touched at all, or if they always have their skin covered. If they always have their back to a wall,  or are always making sure they know where the nearest exit is. If they make grand gestures when they talk and give directions. If they flinch from pats on the back or raised hands. If they lean away from loud voices or project their own. If they use their height to their advantage when arguing, puff their chest, square their shoulders, put their hands on their hips, or point fingers in accusation.
If they touch other characters as they pass by. If they’re huggers or victims of falling asleep on or near their comrades. If they must sleep facing the door, or with something solid behind them. If they can sleep in the middle of a party wholly uncaring. If they sleepwalk, sleeptalk, migrate across the bed to cuddle whoever’s nearest with no idea they’re doing it.
If they like to be held or like to hold others. If they hate being picked up and slung around or are touch-starved for it. If they like their space and stick to it or are more than happy to share.
Do they walk with grace, head held high and back straight? Or are they hunched over, head hung, watching their feet? Are they meanderers or speed-walkers? Do they cross their arms in front or lace their hands behind them? Do they bow to authority or meet that gaze head on?
I have heard that Prince Zuko, in Last Airbender, is usually drawn sleeping with his bad ear down when he doesn’t feel safe, like on his warship or anywhere in the Fire Nation, or on the road. He’s drawn on his other side once he joins the Gaang. In Dead Man’s Chest, just before Davy Jones drives the Flying Dutchman under the waves, two tentacles curl up and around the brim of his hat to keep it from blowing off in the water.
When they fight, do they attack first, or defend first? Do they touch other characters’ hair? Share makeup, share clothes? Touch their faces with boops or bonks or nuzzles and eskimo kisses? Do they crack their knuckles and necks and knees?
Do they stare in baffled curiosity at all the other characters wholly comfortable in each other's spaces because they can’t, won’t, or don’t see the point in all this nonsense? Do they say they’re happy on the outside, but are betrayed by their body language?
Voice
Whether or not to write an accent is entirely up to you. Books like Their Eyes Were Watching God writes dialogue in a vernacular specific to its characters. Westerners and southerners tend to be written with the southern drawl or dialect, ripe with stereotypical contractions. Be advised, however, that in attempt to write an accent to give your character depth, you could be instead turning off your audience who doesn’t have energy to decipher what they’re saying, or you went and wrote a racist stereotype.
Voice isn’t just accent and dialect, nor is it how it sounds, which falls more solidly under useful character descriptions. Voice for the sake of humanizing your characters concerns how they talk, how they convey their thoughts, and how they become distinct from other characters in dialogue and narration.
If you’re writing a narrative that hops heads and don’t want to include a big banner to indicate who’s talking at any given time, this is where voice matters. It is, I think, the least appreciated of all the possible traits to pay attention to.
First person narrators have the most flexibility here because the audience is zero degrees removed from their first-hand experiences. Their personality comes through sharply in how they describe things and what they pay attention to.
But it’s also in what similes and metaphors they use. I read a book that had an average (allegedly straight) male narrator going off and describing colors with types of flowers, some I had to look up because I just don’t know those off the top of my head. My immediate thought was either this character is a poorly written gay, or he’s a florist. Neither (allegedly), the writer was just being too specific.
Do they have crutch words they use? like, um, actually, so…, uh
Or repeat exclamations specific to them? yikes, yowzers, jeepers, jinkies, zoinks, balls, beans, d’oh!
Or idioms they’re fond of? Like a bat out of hell. Snowball’s chance.
Do they stutter when they’re nervous? Do they lose their train of thought and bounce around, losing other characters in the process? Do they have a non-Christian god they pray to and say something other than “thank God”? Are they from another country, culture, time period, realm, or planet with their own gods, beliefs, and idioms?
When they describe settings, how flowery is the language? Would this grizzled war hero use flowery language? How would he or she describe the color pink, versus a PTA mom? Do they use only a generic “blue, green, red” or do they really pay attention with “aquamarine, teal, emerald, viridian, vermillion, rose, ruby”?
How do this character’s hobbies affect how well they can describe dance moves, painting styles, car models, music genres?
This mostly matters when you’re head-hopping and the voice of the narrator serves to be more distinct, otherwise, what’s the point of head-hopping? Just use third-person omniscient.
If you really want to go wild, give a specific narrator unique syntax. Maybe one character is the ghost of Oscar Wild with never-ending run-on sentences. Just be sure to not go too overboard and compromise the integrity of your story.
In the book A Lesson Before Dying, a somewhat illiterate, underprivileged and undereducated minor has been given a mentor, a teacher, before they face the death penalty. At the end of the book, you read all of the letters they wrote to their teacher. There’s misspellings everywhere, almost no punctuation, and long, rambling sentences.
It’s heartbreaking. The subject matter is heavy and horrible, yes, but it’s the choice to write with such poor English that has a much bigger impact than perfect MLA format.
How to implement these details
Most of these, in the written medium, need only show up once or twice before your audience notices and wonders why they’re there. Most fall squarely under character design, which falls under exposition, and should follow all the exposition guidelines.
These details exist to be random and fluffy, but they can’t exist randomly within the narrative. If you want to have your character be superstitious, pick a relevant time to include that superstition.
Others, like ongoing speech habits or movements, still don’t overuse, especially if they’re unique. A character might like to sit backwards in a chair, but if you mention that they’re doing it every single time they sit down, your audience will wonder what’s so important and if the character is unwell.
And, of course, you can let these traits become thematically important, like a superstition being central to their personality or backstory or motivation. These all serve the same purpose of making your character feel like a real person instead of just a “character”.
Just think about tossing in a few random details every now and then and see what happens. One tiny sentence can take a background character and make them candidates for the eventual fandom’s fan favorite. Details like these turn your work from “This a story, and these are the characters who tell it” into “these are my characters, and this is their story.”

The Girlfriend and The Dog Meet (Andrew DeLuca x Alex Karev’s Sister Imagine)
Age Rating: 12+
Chapters: One of One
Fandom: Grey’s Anatomy
Ship: Andrew DeLuca x Amber Karev (Alex Karev’s Sister)
AN: So, I know it’s late but August 26th was international dog day and I wanted to write a story surrounding dogs because they are god’s gift I speak as a dog mom. Like and reblog below and let me know what you think.
Summary: DeLuca is discharged from the hospital with Amber who is asked a very important question by him that he claims will impact their relationship.
Words: 2244
May 4th, 2020
After the past five days of having tests and physical therapy and being sent thank you cards and flowers Andrew DeLuca is more than ready to go home. He has been inside the hospital for 5 days and it feels like an eternity has passed.
He has felt discomfort now and then, especially when the tube was exerted from his throat. Also, it was hard to move around without stretching the surgical scars. Bailey has run the tests on him and he can tell she’s doing this out of shame as she apologized for not believing him the day he first accused Opal. He forgave her as he understood he was presenting himself as manic and unstable and not handling the situation as he normally would. The only thing that made his stay bearable was the company of Carina and Amber.
Carina has been a big help with getting him to walk around for PT and getting him food that he was craving. She also got her girlfriend Maya to get Andrew’s dog Jazz out of his empty apartment and into theirs so he can be taken care of while his owner is at the hospital. He received texts with videos of Jazz enjoying his temporary home being cuddled by their roommate Andy Herrera who jokes she is his new owner now.
Andrew packs his duffel bag as his memories of jazz play through his mind and he realizes there is one person in his life that has not met the furry tripod who stole his heart, his girlfriend, Amber Karev.
He groans at this in regret and wonders how Amber will feel about his doggy roommate. For as long as he’s known her, she hasn’t given any indication if she likes cats or dogs. He never brought it up because he thought like her that he would be so busy with work that a pet wouldn’t be in the picture.
But now since he adopted Jazz, he can’t imagine having another dog in his place. He just hopes Amber can feel the same way because he doesn’t want to choose between the two of them. He hears a knock on his door and he turns to find Amber opening the door wearing her casual clothes and black mask. He smiles at the sight of her because if there was one good thing about this year is Amber finally giving them another chance.
At first, he thought it was out of pity because he was stabbed but he listened to the voicemail she left the night before his attack and knows she’s here because she wants to be. And it’s an opportunity he is determined not to screw up again. But first he needs to have a conversation with her that is overdue.
“Are you ready to go home?” Amber asks closing the door behind her, “After two weeks of quarantine at a hotel room I mean.”
Andrew grins, “Well room service should be better than the food they have here, and they also have premium cable. I think I’ll survive.”
Amber smiles before walking so they can stand six feet from each other, “Well if you ever need someone to talk to through the door or drop off chicken soup for you for once I’m your girl.”
“Careful I’m definitely gonna take you up on that.” Andrew teases causing Amber to grin before he clicks his tongue and gets to his question, “Amber…you’ve been great I mean really you have been this past year has been rough and a lot has happened but one of the few things that have kept my feet on the ground is you walking in and giving me another chance. I mean seeing you and touching you as much as I can it’s a welcome relief after everything.”
Amber frowns at this, “What’s the bad news?”
Andrew furrows his eyebrows at that slightly scared she figured him out so quick, “What do you mean?”
“I wasn’t born yesterday, DeLuca.” Amber states bluntly, “You always compliment me before you give me a piece of information that you think is bound to upset me.”
Andrew chuckles at this before Amber lays out examples, “You told me I was the sexiest woman alive before telling me you spilled my expensive eye cream all over the floor. You said I was the smartest resident in my class before telling me you assigned me scut for the next few weeks under Bailey’s orders. Also, you tried to ply me with a lavish Italian dinner before I found out you bought a motorcycle without consulting me.”
Andrew frowns at that last one remembering how peeved she was before she pointed out all the braindead patients, they get monthly due to motorcycle accidents. It was safe to say at that point that the dinner he made didn’t diminish her worry for his safety and her fury for what she thinks was a stupid decision on his part.
“I know your tactics and I know you Andrew DeLuca so out with it just give it to me straight it’s how I like my bad news.”
Andrew starts, “Okay it’s not bad news or even news its more like…a question. It’s a question that I have to ask out of concern for you and for our relationship and where we go from here. It’s an important question and your response is vital on what happens to us moving forward.”
Amber’s eyes widen at that, but she inhales and stands her ground, “Okay, what’s the question?”
“Amber…how do you feel about dogs?”
Amber is startled by this question before she laughs and snorts, “That’s it? That’s the question?”
Andrew keeps a serious face, “You laugh now bella but this is an important question either way.”
Amber clears her throat but still has an amused smile, “Sorry yes, deadly serious um…I don’t know I’ve never had a dog or given it much thought. I guess it depends on the dog, is that a good response?”
“It’s good cause I got a dog I want you to meet.” Andrew tells Amber, who widens her eyes at this as the smile falls from her face.
“You have a dog?” Amber asks out of pure curiosity.
Andrew nods, “Yeah, Jazz.”
Amber’s mouth gapes open and for a moment she’s silent before shaking her head out of it, “You have a dog named Jazz?”
“I do.”
“You’ve never mentioned this.”
Andrew shrugs, “It never came up.”
“Where is he? I mean you didn’t leave him alone in your apartment while you were recovering, did you? Because I think I’m gonna have to dump you for doing something that negligent and cruel.”
Andrew chuckles, “He’s with my sister and her girlfriend. I like to think of him as my fur baby and I don’t neglect my baby’s needs.”
“Good.” Amber says approvingly, “Wow three months apart and you get a dog go figure.”
“Well, I didn’t plan on it believe me but when he came to the hospital after his asshole owners fed him drugs, I had to take him in. It took a while and a few destroyed pillows, but we warmed up to each other and became inseparable.”
Amber looks shocked at this backstory before chuckling, “Wow he sounds like me, persevering tragic background and finding an Italian to curl up to at night.”
Andrew snorts at her comparison, “What can I say? I have a healing touch.”
“Oh god.” Amber groans in amusement, “Well I can’t wait to meet him once my test is negative. Now let’s get you the hell out of here.” Andrew follows suit with Amber helping him. He looks up with a pleased grin at her reaction and hopes Jazz gives her a chance as well.
May 9th, 2020
“I know I’ve hit you with a lot of information, but I need some sense that we’re on the same page.” Andrew asks Jazz who is sitting in front of him panting up at his owner who picked him up and brought him to the apartment last night, “No biting Amber got it? I’m not gonna lose the best relationship I have again because of your hostility towards strangers. And if your good to her I will give you salmon and eggs but only after you treat Amber nicely.”
Andrew finishes the breakfast on his pan that he made as an incentive for Jazz to encourage him to get along with Amber. He finds that cooked meals are a great treat for his dog to train him as he learned from teaching him to pee outside and not destroy the pillows.
Jazz whines clearly wanting the meal now and looks up at Andrew with pleading eyes, “Oh you can whine all you want but I’m not giving you this high protein breakfast unless I see you try to tolerate the woman I love. Think of it as a reward.” A knock on the door alerts Andrew as he puts the eggs in a plate, “Now’s your chance stay put.”
Andrew walks to the door making sure Jazz stays in his spot before he opens the door to find Amber on the other side holding up her phone.
“Negative covid test, I’m clean.”
“Well in that case come on in.” Andrew holds the door open for Amber who comes in and takes her mask off before she finds Jazz sitting on the couch watching Amber, “Amber this is Jazz, Jazz this is Amber.”
Amber grins at the dog before cautiously approaching him holding her hand out for him to sniff, “He’s cute is he friendly?”
“Uh mostly he takes a while to get used to strangers though so don’t be offended if he’s skittish at first. He’s very independent and we haven’t had guests beyond Carina and Maya so it can take a while before he-”
To Andrew’s shock Jazz licks Amber’s hand after sniffing her for a few moments causing her to aww. She then stands in front of the black tripod scratching behind his ears that he clearly likes as he smiles while panting. It takes Andrew by surprise as it took two days for Jazz to let him pet him while he let Amber do it after meeting her for two seconds. He decides not to point it out because he wanted them to get along and he got his wish.
“Or he’s been waiting his whole life for you to show up.”
Amber chuckles at that as she continues to pet Jazz, “Well the feeling is mutual, I guess. Is that salmon I smell?”
Andrew remembers Jazz’s reward, “And eggs which reminds me.”
Amber steps back and follows Andrew to the kitchen, “I already ate before I came but I appreciate it though.”
“Oh no it’s for Jazz.” Andrew moves to put the scrambled salmon and eggs in the dog bowl that Jazz greedily eats to his owner’s pleasure who kneels down and strokes the dog, “Yes, who’s a good dog? Who’s the best dog? You are.”
Amber is surprised by this sight, but she chuckles lightly with a smile, “Wow this is a side of you I haven’t seen.”
“Is that a good thing?”
“It’s a new thing.” Amber says before grabbing a water bottle from the fridge, “But hey at least I know what to get you for your birthday.”
Andrew furrows his eyebrows, “It’s not a puppy is it? Because this guy is enough thank you very much.”
Amber chuckles, “No see I was thinking a t shirt that says WORLDS BEST DOG DAD in bright red letters with a bitmoji of you and your new BFF.”
Andrew chuckles before standing up, “Oh you would just love to have me wear that to the gym, where all the bodybuilders can see it wouldn’t you?”
“After I put a lot of thought into it yeah.”
Andrew smiles at this before leaning down to kiss Amber who responds. She runs her fingers through his hair that she almost forgot the velvety feel of it. After weeks of tests and quarantine this moment between them as an official couple once again feels like fireworks are going off.
He puts his hands on her hips missing the feel of her before loud panting interrupts them. Amber opens her eyes to see Jazz sitting in front of them watching this scene. She pulls back from Andrew who turns and notices to his amusement.
Andrew chuckles, “Relax, he’s a dog he doesn’t know what’s going on.”
Amber nods in agreement before going back to kissing him. She tries to get lost in the make out session, but she opens her eyes to find Jazz is still there and panting at them.
Amber pulls back, “I can’t do it, nope not right in front of him. It’s like having your child watch his dad make out with the new girlfriend and I know the unsettling feeling with the men my mother dated so I will spare your fur baby the same.”
Andrew groans as Amber pulls out a few things from her purse before walking toward his bathroom, “Where are you going?”
“To take a bath.” Andrew sighs in defeat at this until Amber adds, “And you’re joining me. It’s the one room in your place with a door. Come on before Jazz ruins the moment again lets go.”
Andrew grins mischievously, “Yes ma’am.” Andrew follows Amber inside the bathroom promptly closing the door to give them privacy.

Tumblr media
https://pandorastale.com/
Okay, this one got submitted to me, so lets take a look.
Tumblr media
Okay, first things first. This is a pretty solid first page. It immediately establishes our protagonist, an external conflict (”broken rules”) and an internal conflict (”What am I if I’m not obedient”) in three panels and fifteen words. This is a page that makes me want to read more. Good job!
Tumblr media
This leads into a scene that we later realize is a few minutes ago, and I like that the first page was “smoky” like that, which made it feel more like an “intro page” than the actual page 1 of the story. If there had been a detailed background this transition would’ve been more jarring but as is it works.
Tumblr media
Your getting a lot of mileage out of this art. I like that our unnamed trans catgirl is sitting with her legs crossed in a feminine way, and the way the director is covering the P in the sign in the background. HERE TO HELL!
Anyway, our catgirl escapes in a smokey pod while she has a think, letting us know we’ve “caught up” to the intro. Cool.
Tumblr media
She’s found by a group of normal people who awkwardly explain to the black person that slavery is bad, which is an unfortunate blocking decision. Also, I feel like the preceding 16 pages did such a good job explaining the helpers that this exposition is redundant, and it makes Isabelle (who we soon learn is in “the resistance”) look a little dumb, like she joined an anti-slavery network but is only learning about slavery just now. This is kind of nitpicking, I know, but the comic’s been really smooth up until here and this has been the first speed bump I’ve noticed.
Tumblr media
Okay, so, our protagonist is technomagically compelled to fall in love with Isabelle, who is also the most anti-slavery member of the group. There’s a lot to unpack there, and me saying that isn’t a criticism.
Tumblr media
Isabelle reveals this is a t4t romance and I’m not sure how I feel about the trans flag being in grayscale there. Like, the whole comic’s in greyscale, so it fits, but also the only way to tell it’s a trans flag is from context because otherwise it’s just kind of stripes.
Tumblr media
On the other hand, even ignoring my shit ten-seconds-in-MS-Paint recoloring skillz, busting out the Sin City splash colors makes it really fourth wall breaking, but it’s literally a giant trans flag magically appearing so that ship’s sailed....but also if you ever want to print this book it’d be pain....but also also you could keep the spot colors in the book maybe....I dunno. I’m bouncing back and forth on it.
Tumblr media
Anyway, Isabelle names her pet slave Pandora. They go to a doctor and are all “Can catgirls get HRT” and the Doctor’s all “Fuck if I know, let’s ball” and I’m not sure if that’s handwaving away a detail in the service of the main story or setting up Pandora having an allergic reaction that causes anime shenanigans to happen. Either/or in this comic
Tumblr media
Pandora offers to be a sex slave and Isabella is like :| and they sleep next to each other in an awkward but happy embrace that feels like this comic could end there and be a complete short story, one that I’d say is pretty good.
There’s another six chapters, and I kind of skimmed them and I’m still a little iffy on the resistance side of the story, but at the least this is a pretty solid opening.
Tumblr media
I got to admit, though,...I’m not super fond of the handling of the cops. Not that it’s Objectively Wrong, but I feel like they’re not quite bumbling enough to be comedy foils but they’re too bumbling to be dramatic threats so they’re just kind of there.
youtube
My subjective suggestion is think about making the cops even dumber. Having them come in guns ablazing as a serious threat like in the Matrix or whatever doesn’t seem like it’s the tone you’re going for, and you can always have the rich people have Elite Private Security if you need a scary competent villain later.
All-in-all, though, I think this is comic is well-done!

Raincoat: Check. Lotion: Check. Violently assaulted a service industry worker who did nothing wrong: Check check check! What's next on the list?
Tumblr media
Is Kurumi leaving? What about her education? She may be a homunculus but she's still a high school girl. Is she planning to study abroad?
If they've solved the feral regeneration problem then she'll have a hell of a party trick.
Kurumi: Hey guys, check this out! *slits her own throat and dies*
The funny thing is it takes 24 hours to regenerate so nobody will get it for a full day. The best kinds of pranks are the ones that traumatize an entire room full of people in ways that they'll be explaining to their therapist for decades to come!
Tumblr media
We have fair trade and commerce coming through internationally! ^_^ I'm so happy for Kanai Ward.
Tumblr media
Makoto's managing to handle international relations. I wonder if we've told the outside world about the homunculus situation, or if he's still using that to blackmail the Unified Government into staying back?
Tumblr media
Makoto wants to be punished so badly but he's valuable.
Makoto: You're going to kill me. It's the right choice. Yuma: NO. STOP THAT. You have valuable skills for leading Kanai Ward. Makoto: I understand. I will turn myself over to UG police immediately. Kanai Ward: NO. STOP THAT.
He genuinely can't get his head around the idea that what he did was bad, but it wasn't so bad. It had extreme circumstances as a mitigating factor.
Tumblr media
A heavy responsibility but one he seems qualified for. I'm glad I didn't have to furiously murder him.
Tumblr media
She's chasing after Yuma. Got it. She intends to be the Amy Rose to his Sonic the Hedgehog.
Tumblr media
THE PRECIOUS
The way she says this definitely makes me think Real Yuma did, indeed, crack the culinary code and find a way to create non-human food suitable for sustaining a homunculus diet.
Tumblr media
You did it, man. You fucking did it. You had no idea what you were even doing when you did it but you did it. I hope Makoto gave Real Yuma a medal for this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Real Yuma's left a greater mark on this city as a chef than he ever could have as a detective. I'm proud of you, man.
I. Uh. I hope Number One let you have your name back. Or you found a new name that you like better.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You were just in the wrong line of work. You've done something that Amaterasu's geneticists couldn't figure out how to do. It's clear that your culinary skills are where your calling lies.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wonder if homunculi have to travel back here to get their ramen, or if they ship it overseas for retail? KOKORAMEN: All the nutrition a homunculus needs!
Arguments erupting on the internet because trend-following humans keep buying up the Kokoramen.
Stores in xenophobic areas of the world court controversy by stocking Kokoramen next to the pet food aisle. WE ALL SEE WHAT YOU'RE DOING, YOU ASSHOLES.
...I bet you "red-blooded" becomes an exclusionary dogwhistle. "I'm just like any other red-blooded 'Murican!"
Tumblr media
Are we finally taking the sub out of harbor? Please tell me we're finally taking the sub out of harbor.
Will Yakou be there? His presence or absence will answer the question, "Have we solved the feral regeneration problem?"
Tumblr media
SQUEE They're all okay! ^_^ I'm so happy right now. Fubuki's safe! And Halara! Vivia's... probably around here somewhere.
Tumblr media
You tell 'em, bestie! In fact, as Number One, I want to change the rules so that detectives are allowed to work together and cooperate. That seems like it should be the core takeaway for the WDO from this experience.
Tumblr media
So, is Kurumi going with them? Or planning to sneak out after they leave and follow them?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
HAHAHAHAHAHA HE'S LUGGAGE HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
HAHAHAHA
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
10/10 Funniest moment in the entire game
Tumblr media
That checks out. You heard him, Desuhiko. That's your job.
Tumblr media
Sadly, no sign of Yakou so I guess feral regeneration remains an issue.
That's okay. Maybe some of the city's homunculi can study genetics themselves and take on this problem.
Tumblr media
Okay but are we taking the sub? Because that is the opposite of flight, Vivia.
Tumblr media
...
I wonder.
If.
I can stiff my wealthy homunculus with the bill I've racked up. Y'know, he's basically me so... It's like co-signing on a loan.
The alternative is dipping into WDO funds to pay off Halara but. Then. That. Wouldn't be paying a debt, so much as it would be. Like. A paycheck. From their employer.
I, Halara's employer, owe them financial compensation for work performed under agreement with me. Wow, this recontextualizes our entire dynamic, doesn't it?
Tumblr media
You should complain directly to the boss. He'll listen to you.
Tumblr media
Oh, Makoto faked the bombing too. I knew he faked the deaths of the Master Detectives, but I didn't realize that part was fake as well.
Fake video footage, fake corpses with pink blood sprayed everywhere, and the letters full of information that nobody here knew but that were written in their handwriting. That last part's a bit hard to justify.
Tumblr media
Wow, that's a shrug emoji if I ever saw one. Coalescence doesn't work like that. It a) copies Fortes, b) requires you to hold the hand of the person you're copying, and most importantly, c) requires their cooperation to copy their ability.
We can give the ability credit and assume it can copy more than just a Forte. That's fine. But unless Makoto as gripping everyone's hand and they were consenting to his copy of their handwriting style as he was writing, that makes no sense at all.
"Makoto hired an experienced signature forger." There you go. That's all you had to say.
Tumblr media
Hahaha the team was kicking back in the penthouse enjoying wine and biscuits while we were running the trauma gauntlet.
Tumblr media
HE DID WHAT
YUMA
YUMA WHAT THE FUCK
I realize you no longer have faith in the WDO's methodology but that's what reforms are for. You were the top dog of the organization. You were in a perfect position to institute necessary changes. Yuma. Yuma, why. T_T
Tumblr media
Ohhhh, okay. That makes more sense. Yuma didn't make bad choices. He simply got screwed by Number One continuing to suck.

49, 56 and 57 for Yuuji and the self ship asks!!
(🩷 u, missed you today kae!!)
leigh—i love you so much 🥺
49. do either of us have a hard time being away from the other?
while yuuji and i are both incredibly independent, we both struggle with being apart! i think that he’s a little needier than i am; he’ll be gone for a few hours on a mission and text me “i already miss u :-(” and “don’t find anyone else while i’m gone :-(” . . . when he finally returns—even if it’s only a day later—he’s like a puppy with how excited and affectionate he is. i definitely struggle with being apart, too, but i show it and say it less because i tend to internalize my feelings! distance does make the heart grow fonder, though, and i think yuu secretly enjoys how i cling to him a bit once we’re reunited.
56. what do we do turn the other on/put each other in the mood?
yuuji is (for the most part) unintentionally sexy; some of his habits—like throwing on a pair of sweatpants in the morning to make me coffee only to yawn and stretch like a big cat—drive me insane. but he also knows that little acts of service carry me a long way. like showering/bathing together and helping me wash my body, giving me a massage, clasping a necklace, putting his hand on my thigh to “steady me” while he drives. he can be smooth when he wants to be!
as for me… it’s not difficult to turn yuuji on. he’s insatiable and the smallest things will make him horny. got forbid i wear tight pants or some shorts—or even a dress or skirt, for that matter—because all he can do is think about my ass. and sometimes he just finds the way i look at him sexy; like if he’s teasing me and i get all bitchy (grumpy and pouty), he eats it up. it’s easy for me to intentionally work him up! any physical affection really does the job. all i have to do is sidle up to him and start petting him and he’ll be putty in my hands… sighhhh baby boy <3
57. who’s the serious one when grocery shopping and who likes to toss random things in the cart?
we have to order groceries online and pick them up because we are both THE ABSOLUTE WORST! every time we go to the grocery store in person it takes forever because we’re getting distracted by all the new and delicious options… and as a result end up with way more than we initially planned to get. we’re both the ooohhhh let’s try this! and this! and oh my god do you see this? type and it can get out of hand very quickly. it’s better if we make a list, complete our order online, then pick it up without having all of the tempting options right in front of us.
