The Trash Ones!

Creating shoes for International Earth Day was a spontaneous idea. Initially, I wanted to make them from plastic bottles, but in the end, I crafted them using cardboard, a piece of wood, and cut-up labels.

In photos 1 and 2, you can see the upper and lower part of the shoe, as well as the strap.

In photo nr 3 are shoes just before assembling both parts together, you can also notice a small gap for inserting the strap.

In photos 4 and 5, both parts of the shoes are being glued together.

In photos 6 and 7, the first quick shots of the finished shoes.

It’s Earth Day 2024 environmentalists and activists! A day where we participate in environment protection, conservation and sustainability in addition to promoting and protecting nature, wildlife and environments such as deforestation, climate change, water shortage, energy conservation and preservation + many more: Earth Day or better known as Mother Earth/International Earth Day was founded by John McConnell back in 1970 as a way to spread awareness and notice to how important it is to care for the environment and the Earth though his beliefs and how we could make a difference to nature and surroundings, now billions of people over the years have participated and seen the importance and impact of environmental protection and more!

Happy Earth Day 2024 (Mother Earth Day or International Earth Day 2024 either way it’s the same thing) and for today, ride a bike, save on water and energy, eat healthily or plant trees and crops!

Sophie Hunter is the director of the immersive performance and installation Salt of the Earth, an artistic production and campaign aimed at raising global awareness to protect our Salt Marshes.

"Salt Marshes are an incredible natural ecosystem that capture up to 50 times more carbon than rainforests. They are nature's buffer against rising sea levels and an essential habitat for diverse ecosystems. But this extraordinary natural asset is facing extinction by 2100, with devastating consequences for the planet."

Salt of The Earth premiered in Venice, a city at the frontline of climate change, which has already lost 85% of its salt marshes.
