Kasha Potrohosh: Springformance Music performance Exhibition at tranzit sk 18th May 2023, 6:30 p.m.
As part of the Listening to the waterfalls of the sun exhibition, Kasha Potrohosh, whose works range from photo through painting to performance, will present her latest sonic research in the small garden at Beskydská 12. Instruments made out of natural materials, created through an intuitive process will be played by the artist through the usage of a contact microphone, accompanied by her singing and voice overs. Field recordings from the forests of Bratislava and Ostrava will also be mixed in to create a calm, healing sound. The performance strives to be a sonic experiment, a concert and a meditation inviting listeners to open themselves up to the many “unheard” sounds of the universe.
Kasha Potrohosh is a Ukrainian artist who is currently based and studying intermedia at the AFAD in Bratislava. Her work, which focuses on intermedia, covers a broad spectrum of activities and projects. In addition to her solo work, she has been an active member of the MAPSN performance group. The topics that Kasha explores touch upon the subjective experience of gender roles, self therapy as well as reflections of broader social, feminist, environmental topics. More info here.

Justyna Górowska is an intermedia artist creating and collaborating in interdisciplinary projects, including art, science, technology, and social activities. Through performative and interactive experiences her projects raise awareness of societal and environmental collapse.

Born in 1988, she is based in Skawa in the Western Beskid mountains of Poland. She received her MFA from the Performance Art Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow and Ph.D. from the Interdisciplinary Doctoral Studies, University of Arts in Poznan. Since 2014, she has cooperated with the lokal_30 gallery in Warsaw. Chegou ao fim mais uma edição do Concurso de Vídeo Escolar, a décima sexta. A Cerimónia de Encerramento teve lugar na magnífica sala do Cine-Teatro Garrett – Póvoa de Varzim, com uma plateia bastante entusiasta, composta, maioritariamente, por jovens estudantes. Em contexto académico, participou em diversos projetos nas áreas do Cinema e Audiovisual. Atualmente trabalha na Curtas Metragens CRL.
Paulo Patrício nasceu no Huambo, Angola, passou por muitos lugares e vive atualmente no Porto. Faz, literalmente, trinta por uma linha. O que é natural, tendo em conta que divide a sua atividade entre direção de arte, performances ao vivo, escrita, desenho e cinema de animação, área na qual conta com inúmeros prémios e distinções tanto nacionais como internacionais.

NU ARTS AND COMMUNITY 2024 (II)
Potremmo definire come appartenente ai “nuovi suoni” la performance di “Pelli Verdi”nell’Arengo del Broletto, luogo sontuoso e medievale che sembra particolarmente adatto a sonorità intime e quasi ancestrali, ibridate da una tromba jazz, quella di Mario Mariotti, ormai quasi di casa sulla scena novarese. La voce magnifica di Bayza Cakir trasporta il pubblico negli universi dell’anima del grande poeta turco Nazim Hikmet. Peccato non avere tra le mani i suoi testi di per poter gustare appieno il concerto e non so dire quindi quanto siano pertinenti le deformazioni delle parole di Hikmet, ma vero è che i brani sono molto intensi, mistici e solenni in una cornice di estrema modernità: “Il faut être absolument moderne” diceva Rimbaud e sembra proprio che la strada intermedia tra una folk music ed una più contemporanea, sia nettamente tracciato. Sulla scena anche Guglielmo Prati all’elettronica e Walter Prati al violoncello elettronico. Sullo stesso filone è “Hurdja”, secondo concerto della serata, un progetto con al centro Massimo Silverio nella parte di un ricercatore di lingue morte da un riesumare o di lingue dimenticate, in particolare l’antica lingua carnica. Non sarebbe stata una cattiva idea cercare, anche in questa circostanza, di avere un programma di sala che permettesse la lettura dei testi, perché se con un po’ di buona volontà si può orecchiare l’inglese, lo spagnolo e il francese, col carnico tutto risulta un po’ più problematico. Silverio è un personaggio molto carismatico nonostante la sua giovane età e occupa con autorevolezza il centro della scena, in piedi con le sue chitarre e il suo violoncello modulando la voce come in una salmodia contemporanea creando l’effetto di una poesia-preghiera che ci immaginiamo arrivare da cavità profonde della terra e da cupe e intonse foreste alpestri. Un bel programma anche per questa seconda serata di “Nu Arts and Community”.

trance sonoro registrado en un umbral, entre insomnio y portal inquieto, para entregar el cuerpo a ese tránsito que bordea el límite. consciente e inconsciente, controlado y no. con todas las capas que somos en presencia e intercambio lúcido y aleatorio.
limbo: performances y sonidos surgidos entre voces noctámbulas y exploradoras de estados intermedios entre el sueño y la vigilia, para acompañar y transitar estados de trance y loops insomnes, parálisis del sueño, sueños lúcidos, sonambulismo y otras mutaciones. ¿en qué dimensión intermedia de cuerpo - consciencia - inconsciencia nos suspendemos en esos estados antes de llegar a un sueño profundo en que soltamos el control? ¿de qué formas intentamos sostener las riendas de ese limbo para jugar los personajes que somos ahí, hipersensoriales? ¿qué información podemos traer a nuestro ser tangible después de nadar ahí? ¿y si ese limbo no es solo mío?

Blog post - Rachel Banks Rachael Banks is a Little Elm, Texas-based photographer who specializes in capturing the human experience. She first became enticed with photography during her freshman year of high school as it became her outlet of expression. She developed a passion for taking images of people early on and pursued this as a career. Even yet, she had a difficult beginning to her studies in photography as a result of a drug overdose brought on by the pressure to perform well in college. She managed to obtain her bachelor's degree in painting and photography from Bellarmine University and an MFA in photography from Texas Woman's University with a secondary focus on intermedia (bookmaking, papermaking, and printmaking). Her work has been exhibited at PhotoPlace Gallery, Darkroom Gallery, Black Box Gallery, The Center for Fine Art Photography, and the Kinsey Institute. It has also been featured in Fraction Magazine, Prism Magazine, Posi+Tive Magazine, Superstition Review, Feature Shoot, and Lensculture. Her photos where really centered on people but they were executed very well. I really enjoyed seeing into another person life through the picture she took. I am primarily focusing on "Between Home and Here" because of the emotion seen in the family. I love how everyone looks pleasing with bright define features, such and the red hair and blue eyes. Her photos also remind me a lot of our class since we focus a lot on people and what they are doing. Eroticism is the most subjective of experiences; it cannot be portrayed or photo-graphed; it's an intangible that arises out of the aesthetic, the manner of experiencing it.
The difference between sex in synaes-thetic cinema and sex in narrative cinema is that it's no longer a spectacle. By definition synaesthetic cinema is an art of evocative emotion rather than concrete facts. The true subject of a synaes-thetic film that includes fucking is not the act itself but the metaphysical "place between desire and experience" that is eroti-cism. It ceases to be spectacle because its real subject cannot be displayed.

The title comes from a mesostic John Cage wrote after concert I gave in New York City at the Experimental Intermedia Foundation A great venue - directed by composer Phill Niblock - which is still keeping the "loft" atmosphere of the 60's. John came to the concert and few days later we met in his flat. At that occasion he gave me this mesostic which obviously is one of the most important (very few) things I own! Elie is dedicated to cellist/composer/conductor Jean-Paul Dessy's son. I created the piece in my former studio in Rome in may 2002. Code, Files, Remix originally are one single composition commissioned by the Netdays Festival in Brussels 2002. Philippe Franck and Vincent Delvaux / Transcultures proposed to me the making of a sound piece as a collaborative project together with media architects Lab[au] (laboratory for architecture and urbanism) in order to produced an installation in the public space: RE:MAP Instead of dealing solely with my own usual materials, I thought that was probably more interesting to think about other musicians presence at the festival. So I sampled sounds from works by all of them and with this database I created the piece. This installation work has been presented in Brussels next to the Brigittines, a former beautiful little church converted now into a performing arts space. Tallinn has been recorded live in concert in Tallinn (Estonia) in 2002. I've been invited to perform there by a friend: Maksim Surin cult figure of the Estonian scene. I love Estonia and Nordic countries in general and I particularly enjoyed that event. That's why I wanted to include e little excerpt in this first album.
All these pieces have a lot to do with my interested in cities and urban sonic & visual explorations. Kind of environmental pieces dealing with city life. I took the photographs in the CD during a painful and endless night trip by train from Torino to Rome. Everything has been mixed and postproduced at the Giardini Pensili Studio between Rome and the Rimini hills. – RPD L'Arte dell'Ascolto LADA001
