Muistaakseni viime vuoden viimeisimpiä koulutöitä; kudottu tyyny. Tehty yhteisloimella, kuteista en ole varma, mutta loimi on kalalankaa. Takapuolella palttinaa ja toimikasta, etupuolella kiertopujotuksella tehty kaksoiskolmio. Yllättävän hyvin tämäkin onnistui, vaikka en sisustustekstiilien valmistamisesta pidäkkään. Nopeaakin, vaikka pujotteluja joutui purkamaan liaankin monta kertaa.

If my memory serves me right, this was one of the last projects of last semester; a woven pillow. Did it on a shared warp, tho I cannot remember where the wefts are from. On the backside there is plain/tabby weave and twill. I cannot remember what the technique on the frontside is in english, sorry ;; I'm surprised how well this came out, even tho I dislike making interior design textiles. Really fast to make, even if I had to redo some parts way too many times.

I spent a couple of hours today at the brilliant @londonbookarts learning how to foil block print. I did a portfolio making course a month ago and, as I will be making my own pattern books, needed to know how to print and emboss my logo so the books are totally professional. I'll be mocking these up in the new year, and, once perfected, they should be available to purchase in February. Cerramos la semana viendo algo de Maxine Sutton, artista y diseñadora de textiles estampados y bordados desde Margate, Kent, en UK. Cuenta en su sitio que desde chica colecciona y hace cosas con telas y unos de sus primeros recuerdos son sobre aprender a coser y a tejer crochet con sus abuelas. Estudió Bellas Artes y profundizó en Construcción de textiles. Sobre su proceso, cuenta que hace collages y dibujos y sobre ellos prueba con costuras, estampados y técnicas de embellecimiento varias para crear imágenes, patterns y arte textil. Su estudio tiene un pequeño local / showroom independiente con una colección super curada de cerámica, papelería, accesorios y obras de otros artistas contemporáneos. Dice la prensa: “una cosa es segura: Blackbird (el nombre del local) es diferente, pero no tan diferente como para disuadirte de volver, una y otra vez”. Las fotos en sus redes y sitio web son super inspiradoras: piezas abstractas, super coloridas y aplicadas a distintos productos como muebles, almohadones y carteras.
