if you're looking for a new book to try, give 'em a shot! the plot is incredibly unique; it starts off as realistic fiction, but things get weird quick. sci-fi, environmentalism, romance, action, sprituality — the novels seamlessly blend these themes together for an incredibly fun and meaningful read. is optimistic dystopia a thing? it is now!

Hello out there

Hi everybody.

My taller-but-younger-than-me brother says I “don’t get enough social interaction.” So he pointed me here. It seems really retro Old Earth, like something my Dad would use, but whatever. He said he’d let me have the last container of Terra-3 ice cream if I made an account.

So I’m Aria, almost full adult middle child of the Glass family, also arrogantly or ironically known as the Intergalactic Guild of Musicians. Which means we play weddings, everywhere. Like really, everywhere. Yesterday we were on a boiling hot Gallean beach where we weren’t even allowed to sneeze out of line, and next week we have a gig on a Frylian glacier with our own personal heat pod, armored for protection against the bristle beasts. Nobody can even see us, so why they pay us to jump all the way there I have no idea.

I’m the violinist (usually) for our band. Violin is pretty much my favorite thing in the universe, except maybe the darkest chocolate from Terra-1, and ice cream, of course. Usually I like my brother Lir, too. He’s 15 and crazy smart and plays flute. He can always make me laugh, but he also barfs every. single. time. we leave a planet’s atmosphere, so it balances out. Oh, and my mom plays keys. My dad plays all kinds of things but these days he most often just runs our sound feed. He’s like OBSESSED with old earth, and every skekking cable is something vintage. I mean, who even USES cables anymore? Oh, and there’s Tessa. She’s easy to forget because she’d rather be anywhere but with us. She’s 26 and has the voice of an angel and the personality of an overcooked potato.

Is that enough for an intro? Lir is nodding, so I’m off to get some ice cream. Trill out.

i'm gonna preface this by saying i genuinely enjoyed the stolen earth/journey's end, it was absurd, it was stupid, it was fun, it was generally an enjoyable romp through a silly scifi show season finale

that said, it was also an exercise in how many women could be fucked over in two episodes! and a case study on why you shouldn't let a guy who's just had multiple different traumas excavated and waved in his face make unilateral decisions about the fate of his support structure <3 i say this with all the love in my heart: ten is a condescending hypocrite with control issues who took rose and donna's agency from them, and when all his emotional faultlines get a hammer taken to them at once, it makes total sense to me that he would try to fling every person close to him as far away as possible. Like. The final scene of the season is him, in the rain, saying "i'm fine" and "they have other people" with nobody around to correct him. the final shot is him staring morosely down at the tardis console, that had just been piloted by the full complement of six for possibly the first time. The earth might have been saved, but he just gained a contender for "top five worst days of my very, very long life."

Anyway alternate universe where the DoctorDonna wasn't slowly frying in the background because the apparent? mindmeld? that comes free with human-Time Lord biological metacrisis is the thing keeping the both of them stable (no evidence blue ten didn't have his own meltdown in the parallel universe!). She clocks him the minute she asks how he's doing in passing and he says "i'm fine." She declares that nobody is going to be put anywhere they can't get back from until he's had a nice nap and a few weeks on the beach to come down from getting jumpscared by Davros. donna gets a twin and rose doesn't get left on the beach with a fixer-upper. the doctor hates it. it's very good for him.
