Nalinakaanthi Raagam | Manavyalakincharadate | Indian fusion classical cover |Karthik Mohan
I have been looking forward to producing this song for the longest time. Composed in Nalinakaanthi, it is one of the most beautiful Carnatic songs composed by the great saint Thyagaraja. The true poetic nature of such songs can be understood and felt only in the language in which the song was written, in this case, Telugu. The song is sung in praise of Lord Rama who decided to incarnate himself on the earth and taught us the path of self-virtue and righteousness so we can free ourselves from the cycle of birth and death.

all I can say is they invented the organ for a reason.
#any instrument and genre can be one of worship. obviously#and i have beautiful memories of my grandfather's guitar accompanying family hymn sings#there are many small group situations for which a guitar can be a beautiful accompaniment#but to accompany large congregational singing. in a giant beautiful church. guitar is a Choice#it's not like they were making do with what they had (music is always better than no music)#and they Had an organ. a piped one#and a pianist!#this is not a campfire or an auditorium this is a mass in a cathedral. this acoustical and spiritual situation is what the organ is for#also the insistence of catholics not to provide harmonies for the congregation is so rude. and why am i the loudest singer.#you're gonna let a protestant outsing you? you're gonna leave before the final hymn and leave me remembering the harmony to hark the herald#anyway. love u catholics. it's fine that you turned the circumcision holiday into another mary feast.#we just need to fix your musical education

“hufwe instruments” SYE'OTXANG, THE WORD YOU’RE LOOKING FOR IS SYE'OTXANG 😭
#frontiers of pandora#afop#lì'fya leNa'vi#based on how it’s worded I’m not sure if they intended to imply that “hufwe” by itself could refer to wind instruments#(it just means “wind” so this sentence looks like it says “they’re accompanied by the wind!” um what 😅)#or if they were doing the fanfic thing of throwing a word in arbitrarily for “hufwe instrument” instead of “wind instrument”#and tbh idk which one’s worse 🙃 lol#the first is straight-up incorrect unless they meant literal wind somehow#the second is not technically *wrong* i guess but it's just Very Unnecessary™ 😅

(so be it! see to it!):
a writing soundtrack (also a cooking soundtrack, meditation, drawing, cozy evening conversation—has honestly been on perpetual rotation): over 24 hours of 99% instrumental tracks, heavy on the strings
(musically manifesting creative success with octavia butler)
#made this to help myself get through this last thesis push more pleasurably but#sharing for anyone else who could use some musical accompaniment#and for those who also start to feel mildly insane after the third hour of lo-fi hip-hop instrumentals#back to my thesis / translation hole now#(on spotify only - apologies)#me#playlist

Namer of nameless hills and tall mountains green A crown of stars upon his head like gems was seen High peak to deepest vale and all inbetween Undimmed by cloud or shade of night, a splendour fair and keen Light and song, vanquishing the dark and gloom Harp and trumpet, burnish gold the air Precious realm, O Moria, O Khazad-dûm O my people, would that I had found you there!
happy anniversary, watermill lotr! you know how we're always saying that lament for moria deserves to be a full-length song? i have made extra bits to turn it into one!
borrowed from gimli's song of durin in the books to put together an extra verse and pre-chorus, and set them to music. (this audio is an auditory reference for the new bits, stuck together in musescore with the vocal line represented by cello because i am not a singer)
pdf scores (one with multi-instrumental accompaniment and one with guitar reduction) + lyrics are on google drive here!
#put this together ages ago; thought i'd finished adding the accompaniment; went to export it and discovered i absolutely had not#hence also why the audio is just the new bits onwards and doesn't include the first verse/chorus#bc i didn't have time to transcribe the instrumental bits#but! yeah!!! lament for moria: FULL SONG time#lotr musical#watermill anniversary creative celebration#insert standard complaining abt musescore soundfonts#my sounds#gay belligerence#ALSO OK THE RHYME SCHEME HAUNTS ME. why did they make the verses AAAA#there are NOT enough words with the same ending in gimli's song of durin to draw on for a whole nother verse#folarin's lament for moria is just SO GOOD it's so so good i want it to be at least twice as long

thanks to a few posts in the community and a sonic au, i've started vaugely thinking abt a possible musician/band/idol au for ava, with a dash of "hannah montana" for intrigue.
more under the cut cuz i already have some thoughts abt this sdfkljjkjddffr
so! this au is essentially taking almost every main character in ava/avm and giving them some level of ties to music.
most of what i have is character thoughts atm so! let's discuss the hollowheads and the colorgang!
second/orange
the main character is second, who performs as an idol under the alter ego of orange (a measure that their siblings suggested to keep them safe from paparazzi and fans outside of performing). i don't have designs for the two outfits quite yet cuz i just came up with this, but as orange they wear a mask on their lower face and take a lot of measures to make their idol look different from their casual look.
one day they accompany dark to an open mic night and bump into the color gang, an aspiring band, and wind up helping them perform. and it's really fun performing without pressure, and none of them recognized second so...
(they wind up doing keyboard for the group. their voice is fairly recognizable so they don't wanna risk it)
"orange's" real identity is a hotly debated topic among their fans, folks often try to piece things together going off of the vauge details they give in interviews
vic and chosen
vic and chosen were an idol duo years before second took the stage. in this au they're twins, so that wound up part of their appeal. however their manager, alan, was still inexperienced with managing, and wound up pushing the duo too hard and ignoring concerns, leading to vic having a bad accident during a meet and greet, leading to the two retiring shortly after (vic due to trauma, and chosen out of solidarity with their sibling)
when second told them about becoming an idol, both were concerned. chosen helped come up with "orange's" look, while vic was more unsure. (and both still weren't ready to forgive alan yet which, fair.)
chosen occasionally joins dark for performances (and to make sure he doesn't blow out his voice), while vic moved to produce for a quickly growing group called "the mercs" (they'd be such a boy band we know this)
dark
dark is attempting to become an independent artist, not wanting his style to get muddied up by record labels or producers (plus he was older than second when vic had their accident. he remembers better the events that led up to it). he's picked up a bit of a following.
dark does mainly a strange mix between heavy metal and breakcore (and risks destroying their vocal cords every performance, nuch to their siblings' chargrin). they've gotten chosen involved in a few songs, and has offered to let vic sing on a song if they ever get comfortable enough again. for the most part with second he's content just taking them to some of his performances, he doesn't wanna risk them getting recognized.
the color gang!
an up and coming band known for it's style of music. a bit strange sometimes, but in a fun way.
green is the defacto leader, as well as lead guitarist and singer (with the rest of the cg providing accompanying vocals as needed). he's also the one who invited second to play with the group (still dunno exactly why but it does occur). is a fan of orange, but unsure abt the speculation on their identity.
blue plays standing bass, providing an interesting contrast. she's the quietest of the group in interviews and in songs as well, but provides a lovely sounding supporting harmony with her instrument and when she sings. has the most eclectic style of the group as well.
yellow handles percussion! she has one of those midi fighters with all the buttons that has a bunch of different percussion noises saved (also a drum kit if needed). she also tends to help with soundchecks. she's also a fan of dark's music
red provides supporting guitar or really any other needed instrument. no do not ask why they needed a triangle for a song. he also tends to be the most energetic on the occasion they get interviews. keeps trying to convince green to let his pig ruben be the band's mascot (it goes about as successfully as you'd think).
#animator vs animation#ava au#orange idol au#i dunno if that name'll stick but i might post more about this idea soooo#in case you can't tell i'm coping with not being able to rant as much abt sibling pickup au without hitting spoiler territory#so we're getting band au#idk i just thought the idea was fun to be honest#red's instrument was the hardest to think of cuz nothing immediately comes to mind#i went with primarily accompanying guitar based off what he plays in the first note block ep#please pardon my rambles but at the same time read my rambles

Yuu apparently is great at the bugle. Manifesting Musically talented Yuu. Both great with a flute and a bugle.
So interestingly, it can go either way: if you click the option where Yuu essentially says, "Oh I'm not confident..." they won't sound good. But if you click that they're good at music, then Yuu will play the bugle well.
It's intriguing that the few times we see Yuu's talents is when it's with music OwO so the flute and bugle, notably they're instruments involving the mouth. Some people have pointed out the connection between Yuu's musical talent and the twistunes, which makes me go 👁👄👁 damn it would have been cool if all twistunes involved a woodwind/brass instrument. Maybe we might see other instruments that Yuu may or may not be good at in the future though. 👀
#twst#twisted wonderland#twst jp#twst spoilers#ask#really really trying to have the braincells for this particular theory ngl#like like DAMN i suddenly want to go back to every twistune but also ik a good amt of them are synthesized ??#i want to think that if yuu knows enough instruments they'd be able to have the ear to help people play harmoniously in a band#which is code for Helping Villains Work Together#generally this theme of music and symbolism of music as teamwork is smth that twst lowkey kinda touches on#i.e. octavinelle and their middle school band and note too that their teamwork in general is so mhm#that's why they can do the things that they do now#which then puts something like malleus and his talent for the stringed instruments to a different perspective now#cause he can Play. but he has No One to play with#he could be a soloist Sure but we are currently seeing how that is turning out for him (see: book 7#all the more that his main instrument is the cello which has solo pieces but generally it's used to accompany and give rhythm in a band#or string quartet

i think we should. talk about - more. that song is HAUNTING
#arctic monkeys#am#tbhc era#the barebones instrumentals only accompanied by alex's voice gives me the image of him sitting alone in a long-abandoned bar#singing to someone metaphorically but no one literally#a message that will never be heard by anyone but himself#it gives me the strangest emptiness after i listen to it idk

there is a part of my brain that will never quite get that (lyrically & how they are set musically) the dramatic when all curtains fall and remain/I'm filled with emptiness, so painful/we, who were brilliantly beautiful/are standing and facing each other/I'm drowning in deep snow, I can't get out anymore/I hope to be thrown into the red light and the inherently funny (eng) let's get sexy are in the same song
#don't get me wrong i love crescendo#& kihyun's final 붉은 불빛 속으로 내던져지길 바래 with its bonkers instrumental accompaniment makes me want to put my head through a wall#but the contrast is just a little 🤏 funny#also i (like literally everyone yelling in the comments every time a new video dropped)#can't believe they didn't release a recording behind for this#music box

I’m so charmed by the donkey kong 64 soundtracks use of trombone
#So charmed by this soundtrack in general. it’s very fun#i loveeeee jungle japes and the dk rap#Dk rap is funny but also the way that song is assembled is really good. I love each of the kong’s verses being accompanied by a different#instrument with most of them lining up with the instruments they have as their instruments in game. (diddys guitar tinys saxophone lankys#trombone)#with donkey getting a trumpet because he’s the ‘lead’ and to round out the horn section and chunkys triangle being replaced with timpanis#From what I understand the midi trombone was done by modifying a midi for a trumpet they already had? they did a good job if true it sounds#super accurate I love the way the slides sound. they nailed the slides#i love the trombone. it gets such a spotlight on this soundtrack the trombone always ends up as like a weird middle child in horns sections#i love when people let the trombone take center stage#tinys saxophone is interesting to me the parts they write for it sound like the low register a baritone has but it looks like an alto or#tenor. always really funny to me when artists who don’t know instruments well do this with saxophones#From what I understand lisa from simpsons saxophone is a baritone? also just looks like an alto or tenor LOL#funny to me#i love saxophones

Recently I've been listening so much to radwimps but particularly to Yumebanchi and Stick Figure because they remind me so much of Miles and Phoenix respectively....
#like them in general as characters#not specifically about each other#ace attorney#honestly I just love illion's gentle voice and song writing so much#and the instruments always accompany it so well#there are so many songs from them I just love so much#like hikari#kaiko#yushinron#their movie tracks....#...I have a radwimps playlist of 50+ songs. I may be a tiny bit obsessed.

saw a band for the first time this evening that is insane live. like, aauuuuggghhh how do we get every band a beautifully mastered live recording of their average setlist for me to listen to
#honorable mentions for the show:#lead guitarist for one of the openers rocking the haunted house mcr shirt#bassist in the same band doing. something so wild with their strumming it was transfixing#there was also an accompanying saxophone for another set. one of my most favorite instruments to see incorporated in a band#UNRELATED but it's so annoying that you basically dox your city and/or region if you post about a show + name the bands the day you go
