AOT Girls + throwing it back
THE SCENARIO:
It is Historia's birthday, and she decides to have her little get together at a club. The girls are enjoying themselves when all of a sudden, they hear some music that gets them hype <- (click here ;)
(for those who are mobile readers, the song is called gitty up by sissy nobby)
୨⎯ MIKASA ⎯୧
- she's nervous to do anything because clubbing is out of her nature.
- mikasa isn't full blown twerking but she might do a little shake, a little shy girl twerk.
- maybe she'll shake a cheek or two
୨⎯ SASHA ⎯୧
- this (above) or she's throwing it in a circle (hands behind her head and everything)
- connie taught her how to shake something so she won't be looking a fool in the club.
- if niccolo's there (probably kitchen shift), he's hyping her up
- she has to get something to eat afterwards
୨⎯ ANNIE ⎯୧
- hitch makes her get up because that little shimmy in her seat isn't doing NOTHING.
- annie gets a drink, and she's shaking ass like her life depends on it.
- she twerks hella aggressively. like the girl is about to break her bones if she does it any harder.
- her shit still be bouncing tho 😭
୨⎯ HISTORIA ⎯୧
- she's throwing hella ass and she's making it ymir is catching it ALL
- historia can throw it every direction she can imagine.
- AND HER SHIT IS DEFINITELY MOVING
- i feel like historia is one of those people who sticks out her tongue when she starts twerking
୨⎯ HITCH ⎯୧
- twerking everywhere. on the walls, the floors, on annie, the tables, just everything.
- hitch most def sticks out her tongue when she twerks
- one of the girls have to pull her skirt down for the umpteenth time because hitch's skirt WILL go up
- that liquor hit and all that decorum go out the window. pants coming down, skirt rising up. all you see is just a pink thong shaking.
- somebody got twerked on that night (it was annie)
୨⎯ YMIR ⎯୧
- she can shake a little something, but she refuses to do it in public.
- however, she can catch whatever historia's throwing.
- hands on storia's hips, she's getting it INNNN
- they def got down and dirty when the night ended
୨⎯ PIECK ⎯୧
- she genuinely doesn't know how to twerk
- she ends up looking that gif of tina trying to twerk. my girl just breaking her back
- she's TRYING her best. her HARDEST. like it's okay, baby. go take a seat for me. not everybody can shake something.
୨⎯ YELENA ⎯୧
- she hears the song and she's trying her hardest not to let a single ass shaking bone come out.
- yelena's outside of the club recruiting people to join her cult. booty cheeks cletching, the girl standing like she frozen.
- she's sweating mentally. this is yelena, and she's not going to be seen shaking anything esc not her tush.
- then they played THAT song. the universal ass shaking song. the song that can anyone break. back that azz up...
- she definitely backed that ass up, and she managed to get three drunk people to join her cult 😭
- if annie's aggressive, yelena's the final boss. people don't know if they wanna hype her up or tell her to stop. like calm down, miss thing.
- there is no footage of this said event because whenever someone even thought abt pulling out a phone, she's immediately sprinting at them. and nobody tryna see a 6'3 woman in a suit chase after them at full speed.

Week 3!!!
Love, Confidence, Self Pleasure, Abundance and Ease
Hello Hello! Hi:) I hope everyone is well and being kind to themselves. This was Week 3 of me being a Snakeroot apprentice and wow! How time flies and how freakin grateful I am that I was given the opportunity to learn all this amazing knowledge that will broaden my understanding of the interconnectedness of nature and myself!!!
This week I felt like an herb queen! Dancing in the mirror, wearing cute outfits and splashing glitter on me almost every morning. I played around with styling myself based off of potions and seeing where those literal ‘creative juices’ took me. I also got to play around with some fun makeup looks that were also inspired by potions. This was such a helpful way for me to use plant medicine, as my outfits often reflect my mood of the day.
Feeling like a bad bitch is seriously the best feeling in the world. To me this is embodied through an attitude of feeling special and worthy as I strut through life. Each day this week I had some amount of a dance party party with myself, whether that be while brushing my teeth or twerking in the mirror before bed. Dancing makes me feel so sexy!
I had an amazing experience this week while playing around with Venus Direct Aphrodisiac. I was dancing and feeling myself, shaking my booty and making sexy faces in the mirror. Then all of a sudden!!! An Earthquake! Yes, yes, I caused that. With all the earth shattering divine femme in me, my strong ass thighs made the Earth QUAKE. Now if that doesn’t prove the magic of a Snakeroot potion I don’t know what does.
This week I also felt a lot of love towards all the abundance in my life. The abundance of music, of spaces to play, of opportunities, chocolate and sunshine. Even the abundance of my juicy thighs that help me to quake the ground beneath me. In support of this love between a queen and her curves I created a playlist on Snakeroot Apothecary Spotify titled, “JUICES”. Go give it a listen to get that juiciness flowing in your body and in your life. Pairs well with and was created on 3-5 drops of both Spirit Soother and Love Oxymel.
This week’s Mystery Herb was in some ways the counter balance to the juicy flare. MH #3 felt like ease, clearing and bliss. I often felt sleepy and ready to curl up after just a few drops. Taking a larger dose of MH #3 felt like an almost daydreamy stillness, very euphoric. I used it religiously for clearing my thoughts throughout the week and returning my body to a balanced equilibrium.
All in all feeling massively grateful for the universes generosity towards me. I am truly very lucky to have such a close relationship with the world and to have that friendship be reciprocal. It blesses me with so much! There is especially abundant love towards myself. I am proud to have such a closeness and desire to be within myself and always be flowing and expanding. Not necessarily working towards an end goal of who I want to be, but a forever continuing cycle of me in all my flare and feelings.
ALSO...last weeks Mystery Herb (MH#2) was Hawthorn Berry for heart opening love! Paired very nicely with a day to yourself and or with loved ones:) For me, a reminder of ancestral love and family.
Thank you for supporting and reading! Smoooches!
<3 Jenna

Who: Hayley and Brie @thatlarson When: Sometime last week (lol) What: They go from mere roommates to something more.
Hayley: Being on holiday on a Caribbean Island was incredible enough, but being on a Caribbean Island surrounded by a bunch of fun people whom she felt entirely comfortable with, took the experience to the next level. The highlight, thus far, was sharing a room with Brie. Their time spent together, which had gradually increased in the past weeks, had never been a unexciting, leaving the Brit wonder what that holiday would bring. It was one of the first nights and Hayley was ready to go out and not come back until dawn, which was rather insane considering that she wasn’t in her twenties anymore. But wasting that amazing opportunity would be much worse and with nothing on the horizon for her yet, work wise, there would be plenty of time for her to rest once home. After getting ready, wearing a simple floral dress, she left the room for a while without saying a word to Brie, eventually coming back with one extra large box of pizza, which she reckoned her roommate would appreciate. “Am I your favourite person yet? I better be because I won’t settle for anything less,” Hayley said placing the box on one of their beds, crashing next to it lacking grace as per usual. Remembering an old conversation of theirs, the older actress grasped her phone and clicked on a playlist, a quite exotical one to match the environment. Without hesitating, and after securing one slice of pizza with her hand, she stood up and began to move following the melody, in a goofy way rather than in a serious one. “See? Told you. Everything’s possible.”
Brie: Since they had planned on going out and seeing the island, Brie was in the large bathroom of the room getting ready when she heard the door close. She peeked out to see Hayley gone, and wondered where she went. She went back to getting ready, putting on a pair of jeans and a yellow blouse that she didn't even know would end up matching Hayley's dress. She moved to the window and opened the blinds, looking out to the island. She breathed out and enjoyed the view, then heard the door to the room open and she quickly turned on her heels to see Hayley. She beamed and noticed the pizza box, practically leaping towards her and examining the pizza. She aided her in getting the box on the bed, and plopped down with her. She took a slice out, using two hands to take a bite. "You have been my favorite person, but now you have like went to favorite person times a hundred!" She laughed and took a bite. She watched her stand up, moving to the music that was being played. She laughed and smiled while the other female did, and stood up herself. Brie stepped closer to her, moving her own body to the melody and lifting the pizza towards her mouth to take another bite. She can't help but let out a laugh, looking to Hayley. "I might be exaggerating, but I think no one has done something this awesome in the history of the world. Finding out the Earth is round? Psh, this is better." She laughed and took a seat on the bed, looking up to the other.
Hayley: A guffaw escaped her lips in reaction to Brie’s exaggeration, making her thankful for having waited a few extra moments to nibble at her slice of pizza. Albeit the British woman wasn’t sure whether her friend had said that just because, it didn’t fail to boost her ego a tiny bit, reflected by the proud smile that grew onto her face. “Here’s hoping you’ll never expect me to top this because I’m not entirely sure I could do better than the guys who found out the Earth is round, twice,” And with that she finally dug her teeth into her slice and chewed on it whilst keeping the leisurely dancing moves going opposed to Brie’s decision to sit down. “I mean, it could happen again. As long as you’re around. You inspire me,” Hayley confessed truthfully but also nonchalantly without giving her words too much weight. “Clearly not as much as I inspire you to be a creep who watches me dance,” Her head shook in disapproval. “Did being a popstar teach you nothing? Or are you intimidated by me?”
Brie: "Hayley! We were supposed to not mention that stage in my life." She laughed, hoping that the joking tone was evident. Brie placed her half eaten pizza down on a paper plate that Hayley had brought in along with the pizza. She looked up to her, tilting her head. "Wait, I inspire you? You have that backwards, my lady. You inspire me! Can I get ugly emotional for a second? You helped me with caring what the outside world thought too much, and just focus on myself. So thank you." She smiled and stood to her feet again, joining the other actress with moving her body to the rhythm of the music. She tucked short blonde hair behind her ears, keeping her eyes on Hayley. The smile on her face never really seamed to vanish when Hayley was around, and she didn't mind that. "Show me your go to move! I would show you mine, but then you would fall in love with me and we would have to deal with that. I just better not." She laughed and felt herself becoming more and more lose, feeling comfortable around the other female.
Hayley: Hayley didn’t have a response to the other woman’s statement apart from a genuine smile which went hand in hand with the warmth that encroached on her heart. The influence that her actions and words had on others was a concern that occupied her mind quite often, hence her positive nonverbal response to Brie when learned that they’d had a good impact on her. By the time her friend’s request came, the British actress had already finished off her slice, which gave her arms and hands the liberty to move freely. She’d never realised she actually had a go-to dance move until that very moment, when without adding any further comment, her feet started to move sideways until the chosen dance move looked more and more like the grapevine. It didn’t last more than a few seconds, specially since her movements didn’t match the music anymore and, as per usual, it made her look more goofy than talented. “Your turn, popstar,” That was a sign that Hayley would never really cease to mention Brie’s past career. “Falling in love with you is a risk I’m willing to take. I’m that reckless, love. C’mon.”
Brie: Brie watched and let out a few playful laughs, enjoying how the two of them could just be their dorky selves and she knew they would have a good time on this trip. She stood up at Hayley's last comment and shook her head. "That's not going to go away anytime soon, is it?" She laughed and started to move her feet, stepping left to right. "Okay, you might want to step back because I might bring the roof down with this." She turned and placed her hands on the bed, starting to do a terrible attempt at a twerk. She couldn't even hold it for more than a few seconds, falling onto the bed and busting out with laughter. "So, are you in love?" She felt her face red from the dance she just performed, and also the laughing that she was doing. She grabbed another piece of pizza, taking a large bite out of it.
Hayley: Hayley couldn’t believe what had just happened right in front of her eyes and despite her attempts not to externalise her inner reaction, a loud laughter escaped her throat and echoed through their room. Recollecting herself rather quickly, she answered the question in a quite serious expression which matched her thick accent. “Head over heels,” Her tone pointed out that she was being sarcastic, however the ‘performance’ didn’t leave her completely untouched; it made her realise that they both were truly comfortable around each other and that was what mattered the most at the end of the day. “What am I to do now? Can you stop being utterly ridiculous so that I fall out of love with you?” Considering that her energy would come in handy later on that night, the woman lied down on her her side and secured another slice of pizza for herself. “Well, utterly ridiculous and utterly gorgeous. Thank you.” Hayley added in a rather amused voice.
Brie: Brie joined the position of Hayley and laid on her side, lifting her hand to wave off her previous comment. "Gorgeous? Your nose is going to grow from lying!" She chuckled and took another bite of her slice. "You're the gorgeous one here, and there can't be an argument. It's just a fact, okay? Okay." She laughed and used a hand to prop her head up on the bed. She saw sunlight shine through the blinds, and that triggered her to think about the day. "So, what should we do? I was thinking we could explore the island and see what kind of trouble we can get into." She sat up and stepped from the bed to appraoch the window where she was previously before Hayley came in. "How are your swimming skills? We should take a swim and try to find a cave or something! Maybe we can find some treasure." She smiled and turned back to Hayley, leaning against the wall.
Hayley: An eyebrow raised in distrust as her glance followed the other figure moving on the bed. “I don’t like this. You should take my genuine compliments to heart. Besides, we can both be gorgeous. It’s not a competition. I’d be mad to enter a beauty competition alongside you,” Hayley wasn’t one to drag herself down to praise others, nor one to deliver eulogies; however, that last comment escaped her and once realised that, she simply shrugged it off. Rolling onto her back, she listened to Brie with her gaze set on the ceiling, letting hundreds of silly ideas flowing in and out of her head. “That’s a smooth way to get me into a bikini,” The Brit pointed out with a chuckle, then added, “Love, we’d be the treasure of that cave once we swim our way into it. I’m down as long as we don’t leave a map behind to be found,” Rather friskily Hayley stood up and stepped toward Brie, playfully pinching her in a ticklish way. “C’mon now. ‘m excited.”
Brie: "Maybe." She smirked and curved her lip in response to the accusation of trying to get Hayley in a bikini. Brie didn't know if Hayley knew or not, but she was deadly ticklish. So just out of pure instinct she jumped back and laughed. "No! No tickling." Brie laughed again at her own reaction, and couldn't help but smile from hearing that the other woman was excited because she was too. " I am too. I'll change now." She walked to her suitcase that was still yet to be unpacked in the corner of the room, kneeling down and digging through to find her two piece bikini. She walked into the bathroom and brushed past Hayley with a smile, changing into her purple bikini set. She walked out and knelt down in the same suitcase to find her sun screen. "Will you get me?" She held the bottle out to Hayley.
Hayley: Her gaze followed the other woman disappearing into the bathroom with half of a smirk depicted on her lips. Taking advantage of the solus time in the room, Hayley fleetly changed into a one piece swimming costume which made her feel more comfortable than a bikini, and covered her pale skin up with a generous layer of sunscreen. “Uh la la, someone’s going to have all eyes on her,” The British actress commented checking her out from head to toe without being too subtle about it, then proceeded with fulfilling her request. Squeezing some lotion on the palm of her hand, she rubbed them together and started to apply it thoroughly into the exposed parts of Brie’s back in a mildly gentle way, moving gradually toward her front. Once squeezed some more sunscreen, her hands made sure her upper chest area was entirely covered; admittedly, she did take her time as she was enjoying the moment more than she should have, all whilst her eyes would frequently move from following her own movements to catch the blond’s gaze. Once finished up that area, her eyes settled on hers as she stepped back and handed the sunscreen back. “I reckon you can do the rest. Don’t want to spoil you /too/ much.”
Brie: Brie kept her eyes on Hayley the whole time, her lip curved into a smile. She took the bottle from her and nodded her head. "Thank you. Do you need me to return the favor?" She squeezed some of the sun screen into her own palm now and got her legs and the rest of her body that hadn't been touched. She applied a bit onto her face and nose, before wanting to comment on Hayley's previous theory. Brie now admired the way that the one piece filled out the other perfectly. "I think all eyes are going to be on you, girl. You're body goals." She didn't want to stare too much, but she meant what she said because she found herself not able to take her eyes off Hayley. She smiled and grabbed a hair band, tying up her short blonde hair. She grabbed towels for them, and placed sunglasses onto her head. "Do you think we need anything else?" She looked over to the other female and thought in her head if she was forgetting anything. "Oh, here." She reached out and gently brushed her thumb over Hayley's chin, rubbing in some sun screen that wasn't rubbed in all the way.
Hayley: The generous words coming from her American friend were as per usual highly appreciated by the woman who, under normal circumstances, didn't particularly take any pleasure in being showered with praise. Coming from Brie? Hayley found herself really into hearing them, though she still wasn't familiar with the proper way to react to compliments. At first, as her thumb brushed against her chin, Hayley's face morphed into a confused expression, then a light laugh lightened it up as the realisation came to mind. "Thank you, love. My British white arse can't go more than two hours without re-applying sunscreen. Next time, your wish will be granted," Said that, her hand grabbed the bottle of sunscreen and after shaking it up in the air for a brief instant, she slid it into her tote bag. "I'd say that's-- " as /all/ was going to leave her lips, the actress had a light bulb kind of moment. Quickly going through her own bag, she dug up a pair of swimming goggles that she immediately wore over her head like she'd normally do with her sunglasses, which had already been packed in her sea bag. Sometimes there wasn't anything that could stop her from being a goof, not even herself. Especially not herself. "Now we're ready to go. I love to see what's under water, don't judge. And no, I'm not going to be a creep and spy you from down there. A lady would never," This time her attempt not to burst out laughing succeeded, as she stepped outside their room and commenced walking toward their destination. In spite of the confidence of her steps, Hayley didn't have a clue which direction they were supposed to head, hence her stopping a man who looked like a member of the staff to kindly ask for information.
Brie: Brie departed the room with Hayley and walked towards the exit. She too was lost, and was thankful when her friend stopped to ask for directions to get to the water and swimming areas. She listened to him, then followed the directions that was given with Hayley. She walked from the hotel and with what seemed about half a mile they were on the most beautiful beach that Brie had ever laid eyes on. An audible gasp left her lips, and she looked around the mountain scenery that had some of the greenest trees and land that she had ever seen. The water glistened in the sun, and Brie turned to the fellow actress. "It's... so beautiful." She walked onto the sand and saw a few other guests from the hotel swimming in different parts of the water and just laying out. She looked out and saw what looked like a cave entrance out in the water. She pointed. "Look, I think that's a cave we can swim into. Still up for it?" She turned to Hayley and smiled. Brie laid out a towel to set all their bags and things down. She caught a gaze over to Hayley, and it was a perfect shot from what seemed like a film. The sun lit her, and she could see just how beautiful the female was. Brie smiled and breathed out. "I am excited."
Hayley: Being a lover of the ocean, and nature in general, like herself, her excitement was growing stronger with every step they were taking toward the beach, just to explode into a wide beam once they stopped to admire the sight around them. Those were the moments that filled her soul with long-lasting joy. “There’s a lot of beauty around here today to please my eyes,” Hayley said quite cheekily, gaze fixed on the other woman. As Brie was taking care of their things, her glance explored from distance the surrounding of the cave, looking for the best way to reach it; it didn’t seem too risky. Not that anything would have stopped the wild child that the British actress was. Instead of replying to her question, she raised a brow as to say ‘really?’ and sprinted toward the water. “Catch me if you can,” The shout left her lips in a quite melodic way, as her skin came into contact with the salty water which, opposed to the air temperature, was cold-ish.
Brie: "HEY!" Brie laughed and ran after her, running into the water and feeling the cold water hit her body. Soon it was up to her neck and she began swimming after the fellow actress. She had some experience with swimming, and wasn't a pro but wasn't bad. She kept up with Hayley and stopped once they arrived to the large opening. "It's like we are Indiana Jones." She smiled and slowly swam into the cave with her, the water becoming more and more shallow until they were able to walk on the surface. The way the sun shined into the cave lit it up beautiful, and she sighed. "It's beautiful." She looked towards Hayley after the last comment and grabbed her hand. "Do you think we'll find the treasure. I'll split the earning with you. Sixty fourty. How does that sound." She found herself lacing her fingers with Hayley.
Hayley: Their swim to the cave went quite smoothly as neither of them encountered any trouble on their way there. Hayley was mesmerised by the environment offered by the hidden chamber in the hillcliff, wild yet cosy, with a woman not only she admired but also found herself attracted to in a deep way without having had noticed it for a long time. It’d never been easy for her to exteriorise her feelings, the British actress was more of a lady of action. Eyes falling on their interlaced fingers, she nearly didn’t hear what the other said. That was when Hayley took a leap of faith and before her expression could give away the feeling of nervousness that had been growing through her stomach, she leaned in and press her lips against Brie’s, hand gently resting against the side of her neck. “Make it sixty for me or I’m never doing this, ever again.”
Brie: Brie immediately returned the kiss without any hesitation, her hands dipping to rest on Hayley's waist. She closed her eyes for a moment and smiled to herself, opening them to meet the other's gaze and admire her features. Instead of a response to Hayley's comment, she could only give into her emotions and that was to kiss her again. She pressed her lips again on the other female's lips, and made this one last just a few moments more. She peeled away slowly, looking at the beautiful actress. "Wow. I normally have something to say, but I just don't except that was perfect." She rubbed her hand over Hayley's and again took hold of it. "How about fifty fifty, and you get to kiss me again?" She smirked and made sure that her tone was playful when she spoke.
Hayley: Once the kiss was returned, the tension left her body entirely taking her to a level of total relaxation; that wasn’t something Hayley had anticipated at the end of the year when they’d began getting close but it was more than welcome for the time being. Brie made her feel at ease and in spite of the British woman teasing the other endlessly, she was rather happy to have her around. “I’d argue with you right now but that would ruin the moment,” It was rare for her to hold her tongue but on a rare occasion she would and the fact that she could close her eyes and steal another kiss certainly helped. “Fifty-fifty and we’re doing this throughout the entire holiday.”
Brie: She laughed and nodded, applying a squeeze to Hayley's hand. Brie walked further into the cave with her, and now the light was getting less and less. She was afraid of the dark, so she took a giant step back. "You're going to call me a chicken, but I am afraid of the dark. Do you think we can stay in the sunlight?" She smiled and decided to steal another kiss from the beautiful actress, and her smile increased when their lips connected again. "You mean the kissing part right? Because I can get behind doing that throughout the entire holiday."
Hayley: “Shut up!” The older woman reacted to the other’s confession with a chuckle, shaking her head almost in disbelief. Did she mean it? Just in case, Hayley found a place where to sit by the light, a place that offered them a spectacular view on the cave, as well. “You’re literally stronger than me physically, but I’ll protect you from whatever may come from the dark,” She promised with a genuine smiled stamped onto her face, meaning it. From then on, they enjoyed the rest of the day in each other’s company, each moment making Hayley grow more amazed by the crazy situation per se /and/ the woman she shared all those lovely moments with.

It’s Tricky.
Erik x Black!Reader
A/N: Another adventure with Erik and Peanut. Maybe this should become a thing. This one was inspired/requested by @untouched-rose. I hope you enjoy it.
Warnings: None. Explicit language and a mention of nudity just in case though.
“Guap, Guap get some chicken! Guap, guap get some bread!” You rapped along with Cardi B.
You were attempting to wipe down the kitchen counter on a warm Saturday morning but, that quickly turned into you placing the palms of your hands against the counter top and twerking your ass in quick circles to the Project Pat sample from Cardi B’s debut album. “Aye! Pop that pussy like poppin’ pussy is going outta style! Yes, Cardi!”
“This what you doing while I’m in here slaving over your laundry?” Erik asked loudly over the music. You were too enthralled in the lyrics to hear his question but that quickly changed when the rest of the verse halted abruptly.
“Excuse me? That was the best part!”
“You don’t need to be poppin’ shit. Wipe them counters and simmer down.”
You responded with a disgruntled grumble before returning to your original task. He scoffed at your childishness while disconnecting your phone from the soundbar and connecting his. He’d normally let you be in charge of the cleaning playlist but he’d been listening to Invasion of Privacy longer than he was comfortable with.
Gucci Mane’s ‘Both Eyes Closed’ replaced the brief silence causing you to roll your eyes. How many times could a person listen to one song was all that crossed your mind as your traded the damp dish cloth for a broom.
“Woooow! I finally convince you to move to Atlanta and now that’s all you can listen to.” You said watching him dance around you en route to dropping the laundry basket by the bedroom door.
He donned his gold rimmed glasses and an old MIT t-shirt that horribly clashed with his baby blue University of North Carolina shorts. Sure, it was a lazy day but this outfit was absolutely terrible.
Erik caught you giving him a once over with your face scrunched and turned the song down to address you.
“I know you ain’t talking shit, Peanut. That sweatshirt is raggedy as hell. You didn’t even go to Duke so, you really set trippin’.
“Oh I’m set trippin’?” You laughed, putting the broom against the wall and making a move to stand toe to toe with him. “Tell me when you were enrolled at UNC. Or are you mad because your team is ass and got bounced from the tourney early as hell?”
“Oh so we going there!”
“Yeah, that’s where we going!” It took all of your strength not to burst out laughing at the petty argument but a goofy smile still made its way across your face. Erik’s own smile served as a mirror to your expression, the gold caps on his canines glinting in the Georgia sun.
“How about this? I challenge your loud ass to a dance off. First one to run out of moves loses and winner chooses the punishment. Bet?” He extended his arm expecting you to shake his hand and agree to the terms of the deal. You looked his hand for a second and then back at him with a confident smile.
“Run it.”
Furniture was pushed to the outer walls to give both of you ample room to move around. This wasn’t the first time a dance battle had broken out in your living room but, it was the first one that would end with a winner and loser.
As always, shuffle decided the battle song and you silently prayed that it was one that would put you at an easy advantage. Erik had moves but there was no way he could keep dancing through a Trina song. Carefully eyeing you, Erik pressed the button to skip to next song before moving back to his side of the room and waiting for the battle to begin.
The air was thick with anticipation as both of your eyes were glued to the phone waiting for whatever would spill out of the speaker next.
“This speech is my recital. I think it’s very vital...”
Your squeal clashed with Erik’s groan once you realized that the shuffle goddess had blessed you with ‘It’s Tricky’ as today’s battle song. A previous best of three rock, paper, scissors match determined that you would go first.
You quickly made your way to the center of the makeshift dance floor and started the competition with an excited cabbage patch, effectively stealing your boyfriend’s signature move. You came to win and taking it easy on him wasn’t going to happen today.
Finishing up, you pointed to the floor to let him know it was his turn. He rolled his eyes at your antics, choosing to counter your cabbage patch with his own running man, capping it off with a spin and point to the center of the floor.
“I see you, baby. Okay!” You complimented, genuinely amazed at his ability to switch it up on the fly.
You made the decision to see his running man and raise him a Roger Rabbit, intensely staring into his eyes as you executed the move. He gave you an impressed nod, walking around in a circle to gear up for a fluid top rock that perfectly fit into the beat. He was playing dirty!
You pulled out a robot, he attacked with some tutting and that was returned with a tootsie roll. The battle went back and forth until both of you were literally running out of moves. The end of the song was near and neither of you had considered what would happen if the song ended with no clear winner.
Obviously winded, you claimed your spot in the middle of the floor and executed a flawless Robo Cop, effortlessly jerking your shoulders and arms from side to side. You knew you had him beat when he scratched the back of his head to take a moment to think.
“Just give up, boo. I promise you’ll like your punishment.”
Erik, unphased by your cockiness, stepped to the middle of the floor and eyed you. A sly smile covered his face as he lowered himself onto the floor, laying flat on his stomach with his arms out in front of him.
“Nigga, what are you-” You question was cut short when Erik, with all six feet of his muscle ridden body, began doing The Worm.
Your hands flew to your mouth to stifle your surprised laughter. When his off-beat flopping finally ended, you were double over with tears clouding your vision. Erik pushed himself off the floor wearing a confident smile knowing he had finally outsmarted you.
“Laugh all you want but, yo’ ass just took a mean L.” He said dusting his shirt off and sitting on one of the bar stools at the kitchen counter.
Normally you’d be pissed about losing but today it was worth it. This was the perfect thing to store in your mental Rolodex of embarrassing moments to pull out in public group outings with your friends.
Once you finally calmed down, you made your way over to him, stopping to position yourself between in legs and wrap your arms around his neck. “You won fair and square, E. What’s my punishment?”
You expected one of his usual “punishments” that always involved you doing something in the nude. Vacuuming in just a of pair heels, cooking in just an apron, literally just walking around the house naked for a day. The amount of naked activities he could come up with was honestly astounding.
His innocent smile and chaste kiss on your lips assured you that whatever the punishment was would be something you both would enjoy. Grabbing your waist, he gave your forehead a kiss and your sides a gentle squeeze before moving you to the side so that he could stand up.
“Clean the rest of the house by yourself, baby girl. Get to scrubbing.”
He couldn’t stop himself from laughing at your confused expression on the way to the bedroom. Just when you thought he had calmed down, he turned around to get another look at you, rekindling his hysterical laughter as the door closed behind him.
Rolling your eyes you took a look at what was left to do. A mountain of dishes and the sound of Erik switching on the television on the other side of the bedroom door taunted you
“Asshole.”

Kev’s Weekly Playlist 6/21-6/27
Welcome To My Ear Drums.
I’ve decided to curate a playlist of 10 songs each week. This week I discovered an artist named Beatking and found his new album “Gangsta Stripper Music 4”. This inspired me to make a playlist of some of my favorite strip club bangers!
The playlist features artists like Tyga, Waka Flocka Flame, Juicy J, Asap Rocky and more! No Jay-Z song this week because i feel like Jay never really took the strip club route.
Make the playlist yourself on Spotify or follow me on Apple Music @KevClarkHD and take a listen that way! Hope You all enjoy!
Beatking (Feat. Queendome Come) – Then Leave
I found this song by searching the trending music on the Apple Music. This was my first time listening to Beatking and I was pleasantly surprised. This album is hilarious, but also actually really solid music. Official stripper music, and thats what inspired me to make this playlist!
Listen here.
Juicy J – Bandz A Make Her Dance
Of course, we have to put the godfather of strip clubs on this playlist, Juicy J. “Bandz” is THE strip club ANTHEM and it’s 100% still played frequently to this day. I can’t think of any other song that deserves the #1 spot for strip club music then this.
Listen here.
Travis Porter – Bring It Back
Following “Bandz” has to be “Bring It Back”. The ultimate twerking song. Ive seen this played at every single show/concert I’ve ever been to. If you’re hosting a twerk competition you HAVE TO PLAY THIS SONG!
Listen here.
Rihanna – Pour It up
Then we go to the Queen of strip clubs, Rihanna. “Pour It Up” is the ultimate drinking and throwing money at the club song. Rihanna absolutely kills this song and not to mention….. the video is crazy.
Listen here.
Waka Flocka Flame (Feat. Roscoe Dash & Wale) – No Hands
Classic. Wale’s verse is unforgettable even 10 years later. Forgot all about Roscoe Dash, I wonder how he’s doing these days. Either way “No Hands” is just an all around great song. A great song to just listen to but even better when turning up at the club.
Listen here.
G – Eazy (Feat. Asap Rocky & Cardi B) – No Limit
IT AINT SAFE IT AINT SAFE. Straight like that. Cardi B did this verse not to long after “Bodak Yellow” FLOODED the game. She goes off. The song overall gets everybody moving and singing along. You can just hear the ones being thrown.
Listen here.
Saweetie – My Type
In 2020 you still have to play this. This is the female anthem of summer 2019. You play this and anyone who’s familiar is BUSTIN IT DOWN. Anywhere, anytime, this song calls for twerking. You’re Welcome.
Listen here.
Tyga – Rack City
Ok, now I might be dating myself back, but this shit still slaps. Tyga is like the prince of strip club music. He does it well. I wanna say this came out in about 2011 and it was a banger. Has to be still relevant in the strip clubs.
Listen here.
Travis Porter (Feat. Tyga) – Ayy Ladies
Travis Porter is back again with “Ayy Ladies”. Another twerking MUST PLAY. If you at a party and you on the AUX, play this record and you’re all set.
Listen here.
T-Pain (Feat. Mike Jones) – I’m In Love With A Stripper
Not a crazy strip club song, but theres no way I could end the playlist without this one! CLASSIC!
Listen here.
Let’s Chat.
Comment below and tell me what you guys think or any recommendations I should take a listen too! Feel free to make your own playlists and link them in the comments would love to check them out!
Check out more content from the Bois here!
Check out last weeks playlist here!
Love,
Kev Clark HD

PrEP School
Hello everyone! It’s Ricky. Okay this week I’m focusing my blog post around the central idea of “songs I would play if I owned and managed a small, obscure listening bar in an alley in Tokyo with egg shells hanging from the ceiling and experimental films being projected on the walls”. These are songs inspired by a time I went on a date with a boy at a small, obscure listening bar in an alley in Tokyo with egg shells hanging from the ceiling and experimental films being projected on the walls. We “met” on Grindr (obviously) and first got dinner at this really chic restaurant. It was one of those restaurants where you sit on the floor, and we were the only people there. The menu was hand written in Japanese on a seemingly antique paper scroll and above us was an erotic painting of a woman defecating on the floor. We couldn't read the menu because neither of us speak Japanese (he is from New York but just moved to Tokyo to be a “freelance graphic designer and image consultant”...whatever that means) so we just ordered something random. It ended up being a single piece of asparagus and like 3 baby corns. Literally that’s it. And it was almost $100. He paid for it and then we left to go to a bar I recommended.
Once we got to the bar it became apparent that it was very my moment and very not his moment. The music was an uncomfortably loud ringing noise when we got there, and it stayed that way for a long time. There is only enough room for 4 people to sit in there, but you could probably fit 10 if you wanted to touch each other. There was a video of a naked woman writhing around on the floor being projected on the walls and the one man who works there seemed really mean. I loved it! Eventually, The Crying Pill by Matmos came on and I literally had an out of body experience. I had never heard this song before, but I was living. I tried to Shazam it but it didn’t work so I took a voice memo of it instead. I told the boy that it was the best song I had ever heard and was so sad I wouldn’t be able to find it. He was not into the song at all but he was pretending to enjoy himself. Anyway, the date was like whatever. He told me he wanted to get face tats and was kind of boring. I never saw him again after that night, but the next day I was listening to my Spotify Discover Weekly playlist and that song came on! Basically what I’m getting at is that it was destiny for me to hear that song at that bar on that night. So now I listen to that song all the time and pretend I work at that bar and get to choose the music they play there. That was a really long introduction to this blog post but 1) you needed that context and 2) this is a blog so I’m not going to apologize for making you read.
The first song I would play at my bar is Plural by Sote. I’m listening to this song right now as I’m writing this and just realized this is my Sicko Mode. Like, this is that song you could throw on at any time and I will immediately drop to my knees. Oh my god, I have chills right now.
The next song I would play is Filament 1 - 1 by Sachiko M and Yoshihide Otomo. I texted this song to Ronan and Cole in our group chat saying “me wall twerking to this song” and Cole laughed at me. I wasn’t joking though, this song makes me want to wall twerk. This song would work really well in a bar/club setting because the only thing better in social spaces than loud music is unusually quiet music.
I also sent them Akuta by Sugai Ken, which would be queued up next. Cole referred to this song as “cave dwelling realness” and Ronan said “the cover of it is cute”. I agree with them and would add that it’s seductive and rousing.
When the clock strikes midnight I play Fantasy by Against All Logic. This song samples Beyoncé’s 2003 seminal masterpiece Baby Boy in the most major way possible. At this point everyone involved would be sweating. The title of this song has me thinking about fantasies. I’ve been fantasizing about being held captive in a large plywood box. If there are any psychology majors reading this please let me know what that says about me.
The next song is Frontier Control by Ausschuss. This is the type of song I would want to listen to while being held captive in a large plywood box. Should I expand on this plywood box fantasy? Yeah, I should. The box would be very large, like, big enough for me to run around in, and I’d be chained up in the center to a really chic bed. This would all be consensual, like I would sign myself up to be held captive in this box. It’s like performance art, I guess. Maybe there would be a peep hole in the box for people to watch me while I listen to this song.
Okay moving on from the box fantasy, the next song is Hard Screw by Metal Preyers. This song has the most beautiful Bon Iver-esque vocal, but like Bon Iver in an accidental K-Hole.
Next I would play Music of the Air by Tim Hecker. This song is actually dedicated to someone really special in my life. Recently my friends and I have been texting a prisoner, and we love him so much. My friend Saya found him on TikTok and got his number, and we’ve all been talking to him since. We still aren't sure how he has a phone in prison. I asked him and he said “bought it”. But it really doesn’t matter, he is so honest and has the sweetest heart (not to mention he’s gorgeous). He has the cutest chains, like he is fully iced out even in prison. He really enjoys talking to us, and even told Saya that he loves her and sent NSFW pictures to Lexi! I dream of one day taking him on a date to my bar in Japan. Until then, we’ll just have to communicate through a screen. This one’s for you baby, one year left until you’re free!
The final song of the night is YUNG RAPUNXEL PT.II by Azealia Banks. This is the perfect song to end a great night. My favorite part is when she asks “want a piece of candy?”. I totally want a piece of candy, do you?
Peace and blessings,
-Ricky

Your EDM Playlist: Maztek’s Top 9 Rave Tunes ‘4 The Ravers’
Unless you’ve been living under a rock that’s devoid of neurofunk for the past couple of months, you’ll already know that Maztek released a new EP on his 0101 imprint last week. The 4 The Ravers EP is a fun, party-forward release meant to be an homage to all the rave bass that has come before. What the EP accomplished was to really show that, despite all the subgenre and generational bickering, there really has been a natural progression of rave music over the years and that is why he can make an album like this.
4 The Ravers does much more than showcase the progression in rave music, of course. It’s also given the DnB community an insight into the progression of Maztek’s own style, which seems to get more interesting, innovative and downright fierce with every release. Rave music history may have been his inspiration for this EP, but the composition, crazy breaks and impeccable sound design are uniquely Maztek.
Since this EP is largely about rave, we wondered what other Ravey McRavepants tracks Maztek looks to for inspiration other than those named in 4 The Ravers. He came back with a great list of rave classics that know no space and no time and will eternally be tracks ravers can jam out to. Here they are, in no particular order, Maztek’s top ravey rave tracks, 4 The Ravers. Rave on.
The Prodigy – Voodoo People (Pendulum Remix)
I couldn’t not mention The Prodigy after what happened (with Keith Flint’s suicide last week), they are an icon of the rave culture and it is a big loss for all of us. This remix is definitely one of my all time favorites when it comes to drum and bass remixes.
youtube
Konflict – Messiah (Noisia Remix)
I Know this is pretty obvious but this tune is a symbol for my generation of drum and bass ravers. Who did not like or does not like to rave hard with this tune?
youtube
Maztek – Wrecktified
This is the first tune of my new EP. I love to play it and I love to dance to it. I remember when I made this tune I had a few friends at my house that night and we had fun listening to it. Sometimes it is hard to like your own music especially when you spent many hours producing it but this is not the case with this track.
youtube
Maztek – Babylon
At the very beginning I was not sure if I wanted to put this tune in the EP but my girlfriend was dancing hard on it and I was like okay wow let me try this out at a rave…Well the whole room started twerking on it! I was not expecting it would go off that way!
youtube
Optiv & BTK – Shredder (Inward, Hanzo & Randie aka IHR Remix)
This tune is just fun and I love the vibes. Optiv and BTK are good friends of mine and I released IHR on subculture, my first label, back in the days. I saw them evolving and they are killing it at the moment.
youtube
Maztek & Aeph – The Dirt
This tune is from my last album. I love this and I loved making it with Simone Aeph. It always goes off and the forthcoming Merikan remix even more. I’ve been playing many of my tunes in DJ sets lately so I am sorry to mention so many but this is what I am raving on at the moment!
youtube
Mefjus – Divergence
I like many tunes from his last album but this one really impressed me. I love the continuous hypnotic flow.
youtube
Gridlok – Insecticide
this is one of my all time favorites from my friend Ryan. Pure style!
youtube
Gydra – Bass Must Go On
I had to mention one of their tunes the guys are killing it at the moment!

Masterpost of self-care tips
Everyone’s different, but these things help me. Next time you catch yourself feeling an unenjoyable emotion, try one or ten or twenty of these tips to prevent yourself from being sucked into a negative rut.
Exercise. Pump up those endorphins by going for a walk or going for a jog or doing jumping jacks. Or, if you really want to get into it, do some burpees and squats or show yo’ skills off at the gym. But remember to
Stretch. Stretch luxuriously. Meditate while doing yoga or simply reach for the stars. Whatever you do, feel your muscles and be kind to them. Also,
Drink some water. Focus on how refreshing and energizing it feels as it flows into you. Speaking of water,
Take a shower or bath. If you take a shower, shower slowly with nice shampoo, use conditioner or a hair mask if applicable/appropriate, and use nice smelling soap. Feel the hot water hitting your skin. Feel it soaking your hair. Experience the water; for baths, use nice smelling bath bombs or bubble bath.
Put some lotion or body butter on your skin, especially after a warm bath/shower when your skin is still damp and your pores are open. Shameless self-promo: I will be selling bath & body stuffs here along with a whole bunch of other handmade homemade goodies. I’ll have masculine scents too. (My body butter is amazing js.)
Spray on some perfume or cologne. Smell nice. Surround yourself with the smell (although don’t drown in it.)
Apply makeup. You’re beautiful with or without it, but makeup is a fun, creative way to practice self-care. You’ll rock it and feel better. Speaking of which, why not go to youtube and
Practice your makeup skills! Search for makeup tutorials and eat your heart out... only not literally because your heart is big and beautiful and you want to keep it that way!
Dress up and go out. Going to the mall? To the movies? For dinner? To a park? Who cares! Dress like you mean it. Not going out?
Take a selfie and show off your killer fashion. You’re beautiful! Own your style. :)
Make lists. I love doing this. You can check out my listography here if you’re stumped on what to list. But listing anything helps me. Make a grocery list! Make a bucket list! Make a wishlist! Maybe even
Set some goals. Little goals or big goals, it doesn’t matter. Just remember to be realistic and patient with yourself. “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams!!” (to paraphrase Ralph Waldo Emerson)
Send a message to or call a friend. Don’t want to talk about what’s bothering you? You don’t have to right now. Sometimes just talking about anything helps.
Learn a new skill. Instructables and WikiHow are good places to go, but there’s of course youtube, craftsy, clothpaperscissors, etc. The internet is at your disposal! Go, go, go! But if you don’t feel like tutorials,
Stumbleupon is a great way to browse through the internet with your interests in mind. Who knows? Maybe you’ll stumble upon something as awesome as you are.
Read. Strapped on cash and have nothing to read? No problem! Try a free eBook instead. Can’t focus? Try audiobooks at audible.com or
Go to the movies or watch a movie. I recommend comedies (such as the raunchy Stiff Upper Lips or old classic Some Like It Hot) or feel-good movies (Holes or Zootopia) when you feel like crap, even if you don’t like watching something positive. This brings me to my next point,
Listen to positive music/make a survival songs playlist. These are songs that help you fight bad moods. I know it’s tempting to listen to “Angel” by Sarah McLachlan when you feel sad, but I promise that as beautiful as the song is, it is totally not worth it when you’re already feeling down. I have a survival songs playlist that I burned into a CD (yes, I still use CDs!) and listen to all the way through before I decide it’s not working. Most of the time, I feel better by the time I get to #6. Some songs include “Little Wonders” by Rob Thomas and “Stronger” by Kelly Clarkson. #shameless
SING. DANCE. TWERK. SHAMELESSLY. #yolo
Count your strengths and/or your blessings. You know you have them. Write them down. Illustrate them. Talk about them. It’s okay to be proud of yourself and to take joy in your life. In fact, it’s awesome.
Cuddle with your fur-child or, if you don’t have a fur-child,
Go to your local shelter and spend time with our furry friends. Animals can be very therapeutic companions. Did you know petting a cat or dog can lower your blood pressure and a cat’s purr heals bones?
Be in nature. Go for a hike, sit in the park, wander around in a forest looking for fairy rings. Breathe in the fresh air! Don’t have access to nature right now?
Garden! Make little succulent gardens or plants some flowers. Check this site out for tips, tricks, and inspiration. Want to do some more work than that?
Plant a tree! This tells you how.
Surround yourself with positive people. Don’t have local friends? Try MeetUp and join a group that suits your interests and/or needs
MAKE ART/CREATE SOMETHING/EXPRESS YOURSELF. I don’t care if you think you’re bad at it. Do it. Express yourself. Open a window to your world. Share! or don’t share, that’s okay too!
Journaling is a great way to cope for most people. I suggest art journaling or journaling about good things. Sometimes it’s great to write down the crappy feelings to get them out, but be advised that sometimes that causes you to dwell on it.
Make plans and/or
cross something off your bucket list.
Do good.
Please feel free to add more things that help you in the reply section or when reblogging this! Everyone is different, and thus different things work for different people.
In closing, I add this:
The oak fought the wind and was broken, the willow bent when it must and survived. -- Robert Jordan

There Were Zero Things Better This Week Than Beyoncé's Braid
Welcome to Good Stuff, HuffPost’s weekly recommendation series devoted to the least bad things on and off the internet.
Beyoncé has had a hell of a week. She was granted full control over Vogue magazine’s coveted September cover and used her power to hire the first black photographer to shoot the cover in 126 years. This was before she dragged the fuck out of her husband’s former mistress while performing onstage during ANOTHER sold-out world tour before she got her nails done at 1 a.m. as we lessers slept.
But her best moment came during the On The Run II tour stop in Philadelphia, when our Queen Beyoncé resurrected her high braid — a mythical creature that first graced us with its presence during the Tidal x 1015 concert in 2016. In one memorable moment, the braid takes flight, swinging to the left before floating briefly in front of its master’s face. Then it snaps to the right and drapes itself over her shoulder. Even the braid bows down, despite having the capability to slice Becky With The Good Hair in half. Wow.
How the braid whips, bounces, spins, jerks, twerks and prances through the air with a distinct choreography that, somehow, moves in tandem with Beyoncé is something I still haven’t figured out. But I am nothing more than a mere mortal gazing upon a goddess and her agile, all-powerful braid. I’m convinced that the braid is the last Infinity Stone. It will save the universe from Thanos, climate change, income inequality, racism, sexism and all other social ills since the goddess wielding it is a black woman dedicated to improving the lives of marginalized groups.

Henry Cavill’s Magical Beard In ‘Mission: Impossible ― Fallout’
my sexual orientation is henry cavill loading his biceps so hard he actually grows more beard and forms a pocket in his shirt pic.twitter.com/lo9tN3D8WR
— little king trashmouth (@masonjar92) August 2, 2018
One time in high school, I tried to grow a beard instantaneously. Everyone else laughed and said it couldn’t be done. After puckering my face a while in an attempt to squeeze out a follicle without anything happening, I started to believe them. At least, until the recent release of “Mission: Impossible ― Fallout.” From that movie comes the GIF of Henry Cavill cocking his arms and magically growing a beard. He even grows a breast pocket for good measure, like a real gentleman.
Since then, my life has changed.
I want to say thanks, Henry Cavill, for giving bare-faced high school kids hope. I want to tell you that all the grief you’ve gotten for the weird CGI cover-up in “Justice League” was worth it.
But mostly I just wanna say, “Eat my shorts, Class of 2006!” I told you it could be done. (And while I’m at it, to my childhood development class teacher: I know I said I was sorry for drinking that extra grape juice box, but I’m not. I wanted to drink it. I like grape juice. And it was delicious.) ― Bill Bradley
The RHONY Boat Ride From Hell
This week, “Real Housewives of New York” fans finally got to see the long-awaited “boat ride from hell.”
There is a particular pleasure in watching arguably terrible people you alternately love and loathe experience the terror of a clunking mini-yacht getting swept up in the choppy waters of Colombia. Sonja Morgan and Ramona Singer volleyed between screaming up at the sky and clutching each other. Carole Radziwill vomited into a champagne bucket and later said the boat was scarier than being a foreign correspondent during wartime. Bethenny Frankel held Radziwill’s hair back and tried to avoid being hit with flying deck furniture. Luann de Lesseps hit the floor for cover. Dorinda Medley frantically searched for life jackets (there was only one) as she yelled that she smelled smoke. Tinsley Mortimer and her perfect french braids were unfazed. Afterward, the housewives were safe, but they all had diarrhea.
Some might call watching the boat ride from hell a guilty pleasure, but I feel no guilt. As Vulture’s Bryan Moylan put it: “This is the apocalypse that we hath wrought and it is glorious and it is still not enough.” ― Emma Gray
A Good Week In Music
This was a really good music week. NPR kicked it off with a project that ranked “the top 200 songs by 21st century women+” ― an awesome cross-genre compilation of music from the last 18 years that I’ve spent most of the week cycling through. As a country fan, I was happy to see so many women from a genre that usually ignores them get their due, and while I naturally have some small quibbles (I might have chosen different songs by Miranda Lambert and Kacey Musgraves), the list overall was a great installment in NPR’s ongoing effort to celebrate pop music in “more inclusive ― and accurate ― ways.”
Then, on Friday morning, a friend on Twitter pointed me toward “To The Sunset,” a new album from Americana/folk/country crossover artist Amanda Shires. “To The Sunset” is yet another album that doesn’t fit neatly into any single pop genre ― Shires called it “futuristic” in an interview with The Boot this week, and has openly talked about breaking from the traditionalism of both country and Americana. You can hear that sort of sound from the opening notes of “Parking Lot Pirouette,” the album’s opening track. And “Break Out The Champagne” might wind up as one of my favorite songs of the summer.
“I don’t usually toot my own horn, but it’s a pretty good record,” Shires said in The Boot interview. I’ve only made it all the way through once as of this writing, but so far, “pretty good” is a pretty big understatement. ― Travis Waldron

Apparently this video is from 1999, if a YouTube account called ViralHog is to be believed, butI didn’t experience this jovial prancing pup until this week, so it counts. There are so many good things about this: his frilly pink umbrella, his jaunty hops, the fact that a Twitter account called “Nature Is Amazing” posted this. The best part, though, are the very stilted (and fancy!) crossover steps he takes toward the end of the video — the whole thing is 15 seconds, so don’t worry, you don’t have to wait long. What a good boy. Nature is amazing. ― Jillian Capewell
LeBron James’ School

LeBron James addresses the media following the grand opening of the I Promise school on July 30, 2018, in Akron, Ohio.
The best thing I saw this week was the rollout of LeBron James’ new school in his hometown of Akron, Ohio. The I Promise School, as it’s known, isn’t a private school, and it’s not a charter school. It’s a straight public school, but with exceptionally progressive ideas meant to help children in the same position James once found himself.
“I know these kids basically more than they know themselves,” he said this week. “Everything that they’re going through as kids, I know.”
As such, the I Promise School focuses on kids who are behind their peer group, and it tries to help their parents and guardians, too, with GED classes, job placement services and more. School days will be longer, as will school years, but that’s to keep the kids out of trouble. Transport is free. So is breakfast and lunch. Each kid gets a free bike and helmet. And if a child successfully graduates from James’ school, he’ll pay for his or her tuition at the University of Akron. Somehow, all that still doesn’t come close to explaining everything about this school, which came as a much-needed dose of inspiration for me this week. ― Maxwell Strachan
A Very Pretty Song About What A Disappointment I Am
Although Pitchfork tried its best to make me ashamed of it, I adored the dreamy debut Wet album, “Don’t You” so much that it dominated my 2016 Spotify wrap-up playlist. The indie pop group’s sophomore album, “Still Run,” dropped last month ― in the interim, the band went through a crisis that resulted in a lineup change and a romantic break-up between two members ― and I have now gotten around to being obsessed with one of its gorgeous singles, “Lately,” a wistful yet full-throated artistic break-up song with lilting verses that make my insides feel like they’re floating free in a sea of salt tears.
“Lately” is about trying to make someone feel useful while dealing with the reality that they’re not useful. “Lately” is about having a selfish boyfriend, maybe, or a lazy co-worker. “Lately” is about giving everything you have to give and then giving a little more and then saying “enough.” Band leader Kelly Zutrau’s voice alternately whispers and throbs; when it throbs, I feel like an invisible wire is tugging at my heart, trying to pull it out from behind my rib cage.
I listen to it all the time: on the subway, while elbowing through tourists in Union Square, while washing the dishes, while sitting at my desk. I listen to Zutrau croon, “I’ve been bending over backwards just to make you feel like you’re wanted / I use up all my energy just to make sure that you know you’re important.”
I imagine that this is what my editor thought when I sent her a rough draft that ends “TK ending, any thoughts?” and then followed up with a Slack message complaining that no one takes my writing seriously. My eyes grow damp. I softly warble, “So what have you done for me lately?” The Union Square tourists give me odd looks. I don’t care. That is the power of this song. ― Claire Fallon
‘The O.C.’, 15 Years Later
It’s been 15 years (!!!) since “The O.C.” premiered on Fox, and this story in The Washington Post was a delightful nostalgia trip that examines the role indie music played on the show. There are lots of fun tidbits in that story (who knew Rooney was named after the principal in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”?) but mostly, it’s just a fun look back at the melodramatic music that served as both the soundtrack to the show and to the high school years of many American teens who dreamed of living rich in California ― myself included.
Can anyone listen to The Dandy Warhols now without thinking of Seth Cohen bopping through his house in a bathrobe and a graphic tee? ― Paige Lavender
‘Eighth Grade’ Opening In Wide Release
August is always a spotty month for movies, left to catch the summer-blockbuster runoff and pave a fresh road toward Oscar season. This week’s big studio releases — the action comedy “The Spy Who Dumped Me,” the YA sci-fi knockoff “The Darkest Minds” and the melancholic kiddy caper “Christopher Robin” — are mostly disappointments. So instead, you should see “Eighth Grade.”
Centered on the social frailty of a 13-year-old (promising newcomer Elsie Fisher), Bo Burnham’s directorial debut has been steadily expanding to more theaters over the past few weeks, and now it’s nationwide, poised to delight everyone who enters its orbit. Here, middle school is just as terrifying as anything you’ve seen in “Hereditary” or “A Quiet Place” — but the movie makes up for it with a smokin’ hot dad (Josh Hamilton), salient commentary about the trials of social media, a timeless portrait of adolescent anxieties and a note-perfect music cue from the one and only Irish castle dweller known as Enya. “Eighth Grade” is the “Lady Bird” of 2018, ushering in a month full of astute films about teen girls (see: “Skate Kitchen,” “Madeline’s Madeline”). Don’t miss it. ― Matthew Jacobs
A Band Called Let’s Eat Grandma
Let’s Eat Grandma ― an experimental “sludge pop” group comprised of lifelong BFFs Jenny Hollingworth and Rosa Walton, both 19 ― released their second album, dubbed “I’m All Ears,” in early July.
A huge fan of their first album “I, Gemini,” a fairy tale-inflected freak show for the ears, I was excited to press play. The first song sounds like a threesome between Robyn and the “Phantom of the Opera” duo ― i.e. MY TWO FAVORITE THINGS.
The album perpetuates LEG’s predilection for twisting people’s perceptions of girliness to uncanny extremes. (The musicians are known to, at concerts, flip their waist-length hair over their faces and perform secret handshakes like haunted twins.) “I’m All Ears” continues to explore teenage girlhood using fantasy and horror as lenses ― or in their case, kaleidoscopes. ― Priscilla Frank
The Future Of Film Is Female
This week marked “The Future of Film is Female,” a fun series of films hosted by New York’s Museum of Modern Art, featuring women directors and creators. The organizers, Nitehawk Cinema’s Caryn Coleman and MoMA’s Rajendra Roy, did a good job picking out important, up-and-coming filmmakers to spotlight. I was lucky enough to see “Landline,” the charming 2017 comedy about family, fidelity and growing up, as well as “Bar Bahar” (“In Between”), about three female flatmates in Tel Aviv whose attitude and togetherness pushes them through tough times. “Landline,” in particular, sparkled for its snappy writing (by a woman) and its lovable lead actress (Jenny Slate). ― Anna Krakowsky
Patti Smith Eating Carrot Salad Over And Over Again
Instagram
I check the hashtag #carrotsaladatumas on a weekly basis. It’s never updated that often, but I labor in the pursuit of a digital Patti Smith sighting that warms my otherwise cold, depressive heart. In each of the photos associated with the tag, Patti appears at a Far Rockaway cafe alongside an unassuming bowl of electric orange wisps. A profoundly well-coiffed man sits next to her. It’s always Klaus. (Klaus Biesenbach, the violently handsome former museum director of New York’s MoMA PS1, who’s headed to LA for a fancy new gig.) And his caption is usually the same: “good to have a weekly routine.” Goddamnit, he’s right. ― Katherine Brooks

Exploring Music with Kushkards Founder Lauren Miele
"OOOUU" by Young M.A
Favorite Line of the Song: " The loud got me movin slo-mo.” Young M.A, a female rapper from Brooklyn, recently released this song in 2016. Although this sounds like a male rapper, it in fact is a woman representing the push towards "female boss ladies" especially in the LGBT community. This song skyrocketed her career and put her "0-100 real quick.”It inspires me as an entrepreneur to keep pushing and let no one get in the way. This song has a mellow bop to it everyone can bump to. When in a smoking sesh and someone says "OOOUU" everyone who knows the song can relate back and most likely turn it on. My favorite line makes me feel on the same page as Young M.A. because when I am smoking a strain that is so intense, I am defiantly in a slower pace...a slower state of mind. I have smoked to this song with people in NYC, Seattle, Portland and Denver -- all of whom are familiar with the "OOOUU.”
“Young, Wild & Free” by Wiz Khalifa & Snoop Dogg feat. Bruno Mars
Favorite Line of the Song: "So what we get drunk? So what we smoke weed? We’re just having fun We don’t care who sees So what we go out? That’s how it's supposed to be. Living young and wild and free." This song is a song to live by, creating our happiness -- drama free and good vibes is the only world we all want to live in. It’s a tune sung by two cannabis icons simply stating “What's wrong with smoking a little weed?” We all do it anyway, let's be social about it. "Roll one, smoke one, and we all just having fun." It can be as easy as that! As cannabis is becoming more socially accepted in society, this song seems more and more appropriate. Smoking or not smoking, when this song comes on we all feel a little free and in the moment. It would be one of my top songs to start the sesh with: " When I step right up, get my lighter so I can light up.”
“Pop That” by French Montana ft. Rick Ross, Drake, Lil Wayne
Favorite Line of the Song: "Smoke a spliff and then I vanish.” This is my FAVORITE song, smoking or not smoking! This song comes to mind as we spark, start the sesh and twerk our way until it’s out. Kind of like a can't stop won't stop type of song especially with their anthem: “Don't stop, pop that, don't stop.” Although slightly vulgar, I like to smoke sativas to it. I love to dance, so when this song comes on I feel like I smoke and vanish into dance mode with many memories of doing exactly that. This is on my playlist when I smoke and design. The beat travels way beyond the surface and lifts my mood for the day. Being from New York City, there is something about having a tune like this in your headphones when walking through thousands of people and getting lost in your own world.
Gotta Say High by “Three 6 Mafia”
Favorite Line of the Song: "I gotta stay high, until I die.” This song is the definition of a hype song. The anthem of the song, to stay high all the time, is every stoner's dream. When this song comes on in a sesh, everyone with a blunt throws their hands up to make sure everyone’s on the same page. We all know "green gonna get lit up.” The name and chorus had to be changed to "Gotta Stay Fly" for the radio to prevent saying "High.” When this song comes on, it will always be “Gotta Stay High” for me. It gives you specific instructions when they say: "Roll that shit, light that shit, hit that shit, hold that shit, blow that shit out slow, then pass it to me bro.” Sounds like the ultimate sesh to me.
“Want To Get High” by Cypress Hill
Favorite Line of the Song: "Forward motion, Make you sway like the ocean, the herb is more than just a powerful potion, what's the commotion.” The first 45 seconds of this song says it all - lets get very high. This is a classic to listen to as people of multiple generations can sing along. It’s mellow tone has me wanting to light up an indica strain and enter a slo-mo mode. It's the type of song that sets the atmosphere in a room. Sometimes all I hear in this song is "I want to get high… so high" everything else is a blur and that's exactly what I do. The people I smoke with most of the time are in chill mode so this is a must to add to the mix.
