I love the idea of Cale getting flirted with and it just absolutely flying over his head. Regardless of whether he's aroace, aro, ace or neither, at his core Cale is OBLIVIOUS to how people view him.

It gets even better if his protective family knows EXACTLY what's going on, and are determined to keep everyone away.

Some visiting noble at a gala spends a few hours chatting him up, and the whole time, Cale thinks they're just trying to use him to get to his friends. Either by making a good impression by being friendly, or he's trying to manipulate Cale into giving away secrets. Jokes on him, Cale would never reveal their secrets and plans so easily, and definitely not for free! Meanwhile, Choi Han, Alberu and Eruhaben are just glaring this man down, and keep interrupting their conversation when they can. Alberu makes sure he isn't invited back.

Some lady tries to trap Cale in a scandal but Roslyn just pops up and demands to know how she could ever even think the Young Master wants her when Roslyn is right there. Cale of course thinks this means the young lady is trying to replace Roslyn as Owner of the Magic Tower, and sends her off before she can get another word in. He worked way too hard to get Roslyn her tower and position, no way is he going to let some random person steal it. The next day rumours float around that Cale will only consider eligible young ladies who are extremely proficient in magic. The Roan Kingdom's number of mages grows exponentially in a few months.

As Cale grows older, more people approach him expressing a desire to "have his children". The first time Cale hears this, he grabs Raon, On and Hong and books it out of there before these kidnappers can make their move. How prepared were they to take the kids if they had the guts to tell him to his face?! The kids aren't allowed out of sight for a week, and enjoy the extra pampering, even as the others hunt down anyone who might consider blatantly propositioning Cale.

Cale gets tired of people approaching him with their weird questions and asks Raon to keep a permanent shield around him so that no one can get too close unless allowed. To the public and many of his family, however, this just looks like Cale is so worried and stressed that he's had to keep his shield up just to have some peace. The people band together to defend their hero, and soon no one approaches Cale unless he approaches them first. Children are given a free pass, but anyone else who tries is quickly intercepted by random passerbys. Cale believes people are nervous, intimidated, or have finally stopped considering him to be a major hero.

i am so obsessed with how like. taken as read the ot3 are at this point. like on the one hand it feels like they've been building up to this for ages but on the other hand it kind of feels like i blinked and we skipped right past some Major Turning Point where everything got spelled out and we're just already in firmly Established Relationship-land. obviously tarvek is too well-protected for anyone to assassinate openly, look how angry his boyfriend and girlfriend are at the idea of anyone threatening him. at this point i'm half-convinced agatha's just going to refer to her boyfriends in passing to someone else and no one's even going to comment on it until van finds out twenty pages later and immediately starts making everyone pay up

Random Garpi headcanon: all those years burying her nose in books caught up to Urpi because she wears reading glasses now. Garp loooooves to tease her! Calling her a nerd or “his sexy little librarian” to rile her up and she playfully rolls her eyes back. They go the optometrist because Urpi needs new frames and Garp decides to get the exam done and would you look at that! Guess who needs actual, full time glasses?! The second they get home she’s asking him to “be a good sexy little librarian and help me pick a book from the study.”

Cut to a medic in the RA scolding Dragon for using his amaru eyes instead of using reading glasses because he thought they would cut down on eye strain headaches (they only worsened them) because wearing reading glasses reminds him of all the times he’s heard his parents flirt and it’s gross.

Paul wrinkles his nose and frowns. “Uh, no. This is my sister. She’s fourteen.”

“She have a name?”

“Ask her for yourself, asshole.”

Bob slides next to Cherry and braces her against the car door, while allowing her space to move if she wanted to.

“Who might you be, gorgeous?” He asks.

“Did you hear me say that’s my sister?” Paul calls at him.

“She don’t gotta say nothing if she don’t want to.” Bob grins at Paul and then turns back to Cherry. “So?”

“Sherri Valance.” She says. “But all my friends call me Cherry, cause of my hair.”

“Cherry.” Bob says, the name sounding a million times more amazing coming from his mouth (according to Cherry).

“And you are?”

“Bob Sheldon. My friends call my Bob. But you can call me your d-“

“Shut up, Bob!” Paul says.

Cherry laughs a shy laugh. Bob smiles at her and takes a step back. He turns to face Paul.

“My car’s makin’ noises. Know someone who can fix it? I ain’t going back to that Randle guy. Little fucker stole twenty bucks from me.”

Paul rolls his eyes and shrugs. “I dunno. Why don’t you just, like, fix it yourself?”

“I dunno what’s wrong with it.”

“You said it’s making noises? Like what? And when?” Cherry asks.

“This buzzin’ noise every time I drive over 20.”

“Oh! That’s a quick fix.” Cherry says. She walks over to Bob’s car and lifts the hood. She reaches in and messes around for a moment, then closes the hood with a smile.

“There. Should be better now.”

Bob stares at her with an impressed look on his face.

“Hey, Holden, don’t you gotta go get Curtis?”

“Yup. C’mon, Cherry.”

“I can just stay.”

“With him? Ain’t no way.”

“I won’t do nothin’ Paul. She can show me how she did that little party trick with my car.”

Paul looks between them, decides there standing a respectable distance from each other, and hops into his car. He rolls down the window and leans out.

“You touch her and I kill you, Sheldon.”

And he drives away.

Bob turns back to Cherry.

“Ain’t mechanics a little boyish? Don’t you wanna go shopping?”

“I like shopping. But I like cars better. I think they’re cool. And if fixin’ cars is for boys, then Paul is the biggest sissy ever.”

Bob laughs.

“Don’t tell him I said that.” Cherry says. “It’s just that he doesn’t have a clue about any of it.”

Bob stares at her with a smile. “You’re real pretty, Cherry Valance.”

“Oh. Thank you.” Cherry blushes and looks at her shoes.

Bob tips her head back up and pushes her hair out of her face.

Cherry gets nervous. She’s never had a boy look at her like this before. She doesn’t know what to make of it. Does he want to be her friend? Does he want to rip her shirt off? Maybe-

“I think I’d like to take you out on a date.” Bob says. “If you want.”

“I would like that.”

“You said you’re fourteen? You got a curfew?”

“Yeah. Fourteen. I don’t got no curfew. Long as I’m up on my grades.”

“Well. I’m sixteen and I ain’t got no curfew either, so what do you say I pick you up Friday at eight and we go get some dinner. Anywhere you want.”

“Okay.” Cherry smiles.

Gods, Michael.” Michael snickered, winking and leaning back, looking back towards Cleo, who had successfully got Max to fire a few shots close to the middle, which was impressive considering he was pretty sure the older boy couldn’t think straight right now. “Shame we’re just friends, then, if you’re that easy to fluster.” He teased, and Jake coughed again, voice still a bit tight. “Yeah, shame.”
