Often times, withholding your whole opinion from a friend or child to not hurt their feelings is kind; just as being amicable to people you don't know or care for is respectful. These are different than being intentionally misleading, like feigning greater feelings than you really have for a potential significant other, as well as being untruthful, like outwardly boasting about someone's talents or looks when you really feel they are lacking in that department. Perhaps some people prefer to be misled and always want to be told what they want to hear. Myself, I prefer genuineness. This isn't to say I want others to be cruel to me or brutally honest about their every thought about me at all times (please don't!), but there's always the option of saying nothing at all. Just be authentic. If someone doesn't ask for your honest opinion, you have no reason to fib about how you feel — unless you are trying to get on their good side or wanting something from them, which we all can recognize is also dishonest and insincere, taking us right back to where we started! Remember, you can be real and still show kindness and respect to friends, acquaintances, and even strangers. Being "real" and honest does not equate to being rude and hurtful. Thus, being passive and not vocalizing your every single opinion about every single topic does not label you as dishonest or fake. However, aggressively handing out faux opinions and mistruths just might, especially if it's excessive and/or given for personal gain! I think it's important to just always aim at being genuine — while still considering the beneficiary of your intentions. The world has enough fake and coercive people already; please don't become another!

have you watched a murder at the end of the world yet in your harris filmography dive yet? that was my introduction to him and #inmyopinion that's the best he has ever looked to me. I never find myself attracted to lanky dudes but his look in there worked really well for me, his baby mullet and matching microbangs with emma corrin was life changing for me actually.. ya allah what a moment.

I watched two episodes and had to save the rest for later because I didn't want it to end too quickly. The microbangs and similar builds on both him and Emma definitely made them seem like they were related though (like woah what am I doing back in HOTD land again). Honestly Harris has this quality in his personality and general demeanour that he brings to his roles and it's so attractive?? It's not so much about his looks for me - even though he's obviously beautiful - and he does resemble a lot of other male actors (George MacKay and Drew Starkey being two). But there's something in those awkward half smiles and maybe a lick of malice that gets me going...

Btw have you see him in Beach Rats? Chef's kiss. Also Femme 2021 (the short film) and County lines were both the kind of character I lowkey love writing myself. But Trust was the one that endeared him to me the most (plus it was filmed in Italy, yay!). He looked like a disenfranchised Botticelli angel in that one, and would have been a very good book-Armand. There was a scene where he was in pigtails wearing a skirt and crop top and I was on the GROUND.

P.S. my introduction to him was Triangle of Sadness which whilst very good...I remembered for all the shitting and vomiting...maybe that's why my brain blocked him out after.

also it’s super unfortunate but i REALLY dislike kugimiya rie as kiana. her and theresa’s jp voices are just really not good In My Opinion like they’re really bad portrayals of kiana and theresa In My Opinion and there’s no nuance or depth in their performance InMyOpinion.

it sucks because i KNOW kugimiya rie is great she's even brilliant when she works on anime and i think it comes down to how she's directed to use her voice when dubbing a character. like there are moments when she voices kiana/hov where she does an INCREDIBLY good job, where i go "yes that's kiana! that's the character i know!!" but a lot of the time when i compare it to the cn voice it just doesn't come close.

i will say though final lesson animation in jp dub hits really fucking hard it's so good.

I agree with the general sentiment behind the whole 'treat someone who is having a bad mental health day like they have the flu', but a reminder that unlike a physical illness, a mentally ill person more often than not benefits from engaging in activities, even if they find them more physically draining than usual. That's not to say you shouldn't be patient, respectful and attentive to their boundaries and limitations whilst ill, but- for me personally- it helps a LOT if someone says something like, 'let's go to the shops together' or 'let's go and take a short walk in the park'.

If you give people who are suffering mentally small, manageable goals (obviously for each person it will be different), and offer to do them together, you're offering time to socialise, a feeling of fulfillment, and encouraging them to engage with the world around them. This, in my opinion, is often more beneficial than just wrapping them up in a blanket and bringing them food. Not to say that a few days like that here and there are not okay, they can be refreshing if you're tired, but especially if they're having a longer episode, getting up and or out can actually help them recover faster. At the end of the day though, it is about communication. Do your best to help, but don't beat yourself up if you aren't an expert therapist, most people aren't!! Try asking the person if you really want to help but don't know how ❤
