Official PLAYER/Anemone Design + Lore!

The first character with a fully completed backstory! PLAYER is on the left, while Anemone is the human/disguise on the right. Just to be clear: This is not the player from UNDERPLAYER. To be clear, I will refer to Restricted’s player as “PLAYER”, and the one from UNDERLAYER as “Player”. However, this PLAYER is very similar to the Player from UNDERPLAYER.

They came from the same timeline: in fact, Player currently stuck during in Undertale is PLAYER’s twin. While they were back home, Player had vanished. The only thing they left behind was Undertale, up and running on a computer. So PLAYER struck out on a mission- they had long ago shared their twin’s fascination with Undertale, but they had always appreciated the creativity behind the fandom and their alternative routes. Curiosity led them to program themselves into the game, although this time they were more successful than Player. They were able to access all the alternate timelines and program themselves into that, vowing to get a “Perfect Ending” for their sibling.

They first stumbled upon Underfell, where they adopted their iconic red-striped look after UF! Frisk suggested it. They moved over to UnderSwap, but they became dissatisfied with just following US! Chara through the Underground. They killed US! Chara, shattered their soul so that they wouldn’t be able to interfere, and modified the code so that the characters recognized PLAYER as the eighth fallen human. They went through the True Pacifist, Pacifist, Neutral, and Genocide Routes of UnderSwap, then they coded themselves from UnderSwap to HorrorTale, performing the same feats and then moving from HorrorTale to DreamTale, Storyshift, Storyshift: Facing Demons, DustTale, and eventually all of the timelines. They were becoming dissatisfied and increasingly frustrated and volatile with having experienced all the endings and interactions, and still not yet achieving an ending they deemed to be perfect.

InkShift Chara met them as PLAYER was in the midst of disassembling and reassembling their code for other timelines. Having had sensed the true amount of LOVE within their soul, InkShift called upon Atonement. (An OC designed by Tarylem: Atonement takes on the form of an unknown Sans AU, although in actuality he is a force created to dispense justice, and is present everywhere, not just in Undertale and Deltarune.)

Atonement managed to take PLAYER by surprise. He stripped them of their coding abilities and tore out their soul. 

InkShift hid their soul within the only alternate universe PLAYER had not visited, forcing the timeline to jam it into a desperate host to stabilize the sudden power transfusion. Almond became PLAYER’s new host, as InkShift Chara had unknowingly given PLAYER reign over Almond and the created body (Anemone), allowing them to switch between the two at will.

This sketch took a while, mainly because I wasn’t able to think of a pose for PLAYER/Anemone. The others won’t take as long, for certain. -ASRIEL.

edit: eeee. Rereading this lore’s making me all giddy again- I really want to start coding the basics, but I’m not sure what program to run it with- GameMaker Studio runs on a jumble of C++ and C#, so if something happens to the program I won’t know what to do. :( I’m only good with HTML, but if HTML’s not available JavaScript’s second, although I’m really slow with JS. .-. But if that’s the only option left, then it’ll be better than nothing- Toby Fox used GameMaker Studio for Undertale’s battle system, as well as GMS 2 for Deltarune. Seems like a good candidate.

BIO.

Dominic was born in The Wards, raised by his single mother, Ivy, who worked tirelessly just to keep them afloat. Growing up surrounded by the grit and desperation of The Wards, Dominic found escapism with art, a rare outlet in a place where survival often came before creativity. Sketching, painting, and designing were more than hobbies; they were Dominic’s way to feel like something more than the suffocating environment he was stuck in.

But art didn’t pay the bills. By his late teens, Dominic was doing odd jobs, some legal, some not, just to make ends meet. His mother dreamed of a better life for him, pushing him to apply for the Ascend Program, the supposed way out of The Wards. After several rejections, Dominic was finally accepted 10 years ago, allowing him to move to Equinox and open a body mods and tattoo studio.

However, what was supposed to be a new beginning turned into a nightmare. Within a year of entering the program, Dominic’s health rapidly deteriorated. Plagued by strange symptoms, constant fatigue, memory lapses, bouts of unexplained pain. He was drowning in medical debt. Worse still, the Ascend Program was seemed more like a scam, locking him into a life-long contract with his studio. This has left him no better off than he’d been in The Wards.

Though his health improved once he left the program, the damage was done. His mother passed away five years ago, a victim of the same systemic neglect Dominic couldn’t escape, and he still blames himself for not being able to afford proper care. Now, he lives in a constant state of struggle. His studio just barely scraping by, burdened by debt, and his reputation teetering between legitimate work and the black market.

Unable to break free from this cycle, Dominic turned to more dangerous work to survive. His skills with tech and art merged into a new specialty: illegal, experimental body mods that combined tech implants with art, making him highly sought-after by both criminals and those looking for enhancements that would go undetected by Vanguard Security. While his official clients in Equinox are above-board, his black market clientele, primarily from The Wards, ask for mods that help them evade surveillance, change their identities, or hack into secure systems. He's known as 'Inkshift' on the black market.

He’s become known for his ability to make body modifications that are as beautiful as they are functional, artistic tattoos that conceal microchips, limbs that move with the elegance of a sculpture but contain hidden compartments for smuggling tech. But Dominic never feels fully comfortable with the work he’s doing. Every time he dives deeper into the underworld, he’s reminded of the life he wished for himself, one that never arrived.

Dominic’s health, though improved, never fully recovered. He still suffers from unexplained episodes, and he’s recently begun to suspect that his time in the Ascend Program wasn’t just a scam to trap people in debt, it might have been something far worse. Other Ascend Program participants he’s come across report similar symptoms, and he’s started piecing together evidence that the program was experimenting on Ward residents under the radar.

Outreach offers help for those in precarious situations like his and Dom knows that they can help him untangle some of his debts and even provide access to medical care he can’t afford on his own. More than that, Outreach has been quietly helping people from The Wards navigate the oppressive economic systems that have kept them down for generations, and Dominic sees them as his only lifeline out of this endless cycle of debt and guilt.

Though he is hesitant to fully rely on anyone else, Dominic realizes he’s running out of options. His guarded, self-reliant nature makes it hard for him to admit he needs help, but between the stress of his black market dealings and the unresolved grief over his mother’s death, he’s beginning to see that Outreach may be his last chance at keeping his studio, and himself, afloat.

CONNECTION IDEAS:

Dominic’s black market dealings with underground tech and body mods have spiraled out of control. He owes money to multiple dangerous figures, usually for parts or tech etc and one of them suddenly demands repayment in full.

Dominic could be approached by a high-profile client who wants an experimental, highly illegal body mod done. This client could be connected to influential figures, potentially bringing in big money and relief for his debts.

Life thunders on and it unfortunately puts me a day behind schedule but I'll gratefully take it. Bueno, creo que con esto empieza un proyecto poco mas serio:D

En un grupo de rol nació la idea de fusionar XTale y StoryShift, asi nació XShift y con el varias variaciones, como InkShift!Chara (Alías: Chernil).

Estare adaptando varías capturas de este AU a la serie de XTale, este es un avance.

PD: Estare usando un coloreo estilo anime, el que ocupó generalmente es muy pesado para esto. X'D
