Where can I read and request manga?
My mission with my tumblr is to help you find official resources to consume manga; doing it these ways will help the mangaka who work to bring you content and it encourages English publishers to bring over more series.
Check under the cut for legal websites, apps and retailers with detailed information. At the bottom you'll find surveys and ways to contact publishers with requests.
You can use regular retailers to buy digital and print: Amazon/Kindle, Kobo, Barnes and Noble, Bookwalker, Google Play, Apple Books, Nook
There are apps available for buying volumes, chapters, using ticket systems to access free content, or with subscriptions.
Mangamo - $4.99/mo for 200+ titles; titles available for purchases with in-app library
Viz manga - $1.99/mo; titles available to purchase with in-app library (carries titles from Viz, but not their SJ series)
Shonen Jump - $2.99/mo; titles available to purchase with in-app library (carries specifically SJ titles, which are often popular shounen)
Comikey - uses a key system; ability to read for free with ads and patience
Kmanga - app maintained by Kodansha; chapters are often available to read for free through a ticket system and able to purchase
Kodansha - a website where you can create a free reading account. They offer 3 free chapters on all their manga, occasionally feature several free volumes, and run sales on their content somewhat regularly.
MangaPlus - $1.99 or $4.99 for a subscription; will allow a free read of their simulpub series.
MangaPlaza - 7 day free trial; $6.99/mo; [info incoming, seems to have more mature licenses]
INKR - 3 ways to access content; free, coins & 'Extra Membership'. Extra can cost $4.99/mo or $44.99/year and gives you access to content, extra savings and "free ink" that can be traded for their coin system. (Used to be Manga Rock and that was a fun read from them)
MangaPlanet - $1.99/week -> $47.99/year depending on which tier you pay for.
MangaUP - 1 month free trial, $4.99/mo; you can browse their 'vault' to see if things you like are included
Irodori Comics - hosts 18+, specializes in doujinshi, more info incoming
Renta! - point system; 1 point = 1 cent; regular bonus points for higher purchases
ComiXology - $4.99/month; a service through amazon that allows you access to comics, manga and graphic novels. Specifically boasts {2400} manga titles.
Animeplanet - has a library of completely free comics and anime through partnerships; seems to host less manga styled comics but free is free.
Manta, Comicle, Webtoon, Tappytoon, Tapas, WebComics, Bilibili will be looked into but they host mostly webtoon style comics
Seven seas has a (mostly) monthly survey that is linked on their homepage at all times. {They will pull from any publisher, including digital only simulpubs}
If you have a bookwalker account, I found a Google doc that you fill out requests and they send them to publishers.
To send suggestions to Viz, use this survey that is listed through their Contact Us page (you select the "Series Suggestion" and will be redirected) {they mostly pull from shogakukan and shueisha titles}
To send suggestions to Kodansha, go to their contact us page and there are 2 useful drop downs; suggest reprints and suggest series, suggest series is also useful to request a print of anything they've licensed digital only. {They pull almost exclusively from Kodansha Japan}
TokyoPop has a discord server where they look at your suggestions in the channel #licensesuggestion
If you are able, in any way, support official English releases. It shows it is a lucrative business decision to continue the manga. Nothing is worse than starting something and being unable to finish it because it stopped getting translated and published.
I will update this post as needed, enjoy your manga! ♡

Saw this on reddit first, but the fact that on INKR if you look at the "more like this" tab for Chains of The Covenant (the Eugene and Gavus comic) and scroll past the other afk arena comics.
It's just a bunch of BL and Romance comics. Like... hello?? Got something to say here Lilith?
I'm pretty sure subtlety has left the room at this point.

where do you read villinit :0?
Officially, you can read Villain Initialization (The Reversal) on Bilibili or INKR comics. Or at least, you USED to be able to, but now it is nowhere to be found through official channels (in English at least).
There is someone who is currently doing a pretty good fan translation on Mangago.
Somewhat Important Notes:
Before you start, be aware that the translation quality of the first handful of chapters is...not too great. It improves fairly quickly, but it can make the initial setup hard to follow. Anyone's free to DM me if you're confused about what something means, I'll do literally anything to get more people to read this series. Though if you're an MTL warrior it should be no issue for you lol
Keep in mind that Panlos/Pan Luo/Panluosi/etc are all supposed to be the same name. It's a mis-transliteration of what is supposed to be "Penrose" which comes from the Penrose father and son duo who are both reknowned mathematicians (amongst other things) and the conceptors of the Penrose triangle (aka the impossible triangle) which is a recurring symbol in the series.
Ye Mu/Ye Muxue/Ye Zimu are also the same person. I'm like 99.9% sure this is a nickname and moniker thing, not a mis-transliteration like the Penrose situation.
Prepare for one of the most messed up friendships you have EVER seen (/positive).
Oh, and the Agonies (/also positive). <3

Hey there! I don’t have any interesting or strange horses to share with you, so sorry to bother you. :c
I found your blog due to you also using the manhua tag, but I thought I’d just let you know all the horses you’ve shared so far are from manhwa!
I didn’t want to impulsively send this ask so I did scroll through your blog a little to confirm, and I also saw the post you reblogged about manhua vs manhwa vs manga and donghua vs aeni vs anime, where you tagged it mentioning how you read these comics in English so you aren’t sure of the origins.
That’s kind of fair, especially since most of the manhwa you post have settings that are inspired by Europe, so the names can’t easily identify whether it’s Korean or Chinese…
But beyond some telltale visual signs (manhwa for women in these European settings are often very sparkly, with 3D CGI assets on even the clothes—eg lace or other detailing—as well as for the backgrounds—like the horses you post (and most webcomics do use 3D in the background, but there is a je ne sais quois for manhwa), while action and BL manhwa usually use thicker black lines and lips and bodies), there’s also the website Baka-Updates! It tracks comics of all kinds and will tell you the origin of a comic (manga, manhua, manhwa).
Most things on Webtoon will also be manhwa, because it started off as a Korean company, so while some western webcomics are also published there, it doesn’t have many manhua from China. Manhua are usually posted to sites like Bilibili or Kuaikan, and while the former had its own English app for a while and the latter usually licenses their stuff to INKR or Tapas, it’s true quite a few manhua still remain inaccessible to the west. Even fan translations barely scratch the surface of all the manhua out there.
As you can see, I’m a manhua fan and visit the manhua tag pretty often, but due to it being pretty underrated, it’s kind of hard to find stuff on it in the western side of the Internet sometimes (especially when people do still mistag manhua as manhwa). So since I can stumble on quite a few of your posts but they all feature manhwa instead of manhua, I thought I’d just let you know!
Interesting. Thanks for the feedback! I’ll have to check out Baka-Updates in the future. :)

KNOCKOUTS: Still Sick (2018 - 20)
Still Sick is a comedy series by Akashi about a woman's coworker finding out that she draws yuri doujinshi. There was also a sequel oneshot released in 2023 called Still Life, though that seemingly doesn't have an English release.
Makoto Shimizu is just an ordinary office worker, blending in seamlessly with her colleagues going about her day to day life... that is, until her coworker Akane Maekawa discovers her well-hidden secret: she draws and sells girls' love comics! Maekawa is the last person Shimizu would accuse of being an otaku, but as her interest in Shimizu's art blossoms, the two grow closer, and it seems like Maekawa may have a secret of her own... - Anime Planet
ENG is available on Inkr; JP is on Pixiv. You can find Still Life on Book Walker.
No major warnings apply aside from some mild sexual content + internalised homophobia.

Wake Up, Sleeping Beauty
6 volumes
Licensed by Kodansha, also on Azuki and INKR Comics
This funny and heartrending romantic manga set in modern Tokyo is not the fairy tale you remember! This time, Prince Charming is a teenage janitor, and this Sleeping Beauty's curse is a supernatural, gender-bending dream that threatens to pull them both into a deeper and deeper slumber... High schooler Tetsu Misato is hardworking, frugal, and easily scared, but he commits to a part-time job at the mansion on the hill—the one that’s rumored to be haunted. As he toils away, he notices a building separate from the estate, and the mysterious girl who lives within it: Shizu Karasawa. Tetsu slowly becomes enchanted by Shizu’s lonely smile, but by their second encounter, he quickly finds himself in over his head. There’s an unsettling feeling he can’t quite shake, but there’s love there, too.

They're also relatively new characters! The dads are called Eugene and Gavus, and the kids are named Lucilla and Liberta (who are also twins). They come from AFK Arena.
Basically their deal is that Eugene and Gavus are from opposing sides who get stuck together, they find the twins who were created to be bio-weapons to fight against the gods from ancient times, they instead steal the kids, forsake their own sides, and go start a family in the woods. They eventually got found and were locked up as traitors while the twins get separated and have their memories locked away. Until 10 years later the twins find eachother again and regain all their memories, and then they in turn go off to rescue their dads so they can be a family again.
You don't have to download the game though, there's a video from DangerGrey that goes into way more detail about the family and probably explains a lot better than me on youtube.
They also have a comic called "The Chains of The Covenant"! It's on INKR and it's free to read, it's still being updated at this moment though.
In the game itself: a few months ago only the kids were released, the dads were first mentioned via a diary one of them wrote and showed up in flashbacks in the War of Truth event. And then a month ago the dads' designs were leaked before being officially announced. They're in the game now, though they're called "friends" because it's a Chinese game so they gotta censor it, bleh. Doesn't mean their interactions aren't any less gay, they're still very much gay.
And I believe that’s all I want to say about them! tldr: I love this family very much and they've ruined my brain.
:0
Omg they sound so cool I love them

I am once again imploring websites and apps that officially translate and host manga/manhwa/manhua to HIRE A FUCKING WEB DESIGNER who didn't apply with a BUSINESS DEGREE!!!
If i literally cannot open the comics i want to read on your website bc you THROW A MALFUNCTIONING POP UP OVER THE ENTIRE SITE UPON OPENING!!! I am not giving you my fucking money INKR!!! Can't even ublock element pick my way out of it because for some god forsaken reason it won't let me interact with the page if i don't click out of the pop up.
"oh, just use the app" they don't let me read M rated comics on the app, and if you've gotta bend to the will of google at least make sure the website you direct me to is BASELINE FUCKING FUNCTIONAL!
