I Wrote This Just For @shoutosteakettle Go Give Her A Follow!

You didn't know Izuku had a quirk.
You never throught Izuku would make it into UA, at least not the hero course. You knew he was applying, and you knew he was determined to get in but you also knew how hard the entrance exams were. Just a quick moogle search would tell you that the acceptance rate was low, without a quirk it was damn near impossible.
When you applied to UA with Izuku you hoped that he would get into another course, like the support course, he certainly was smart enough. It wasn't that you didn't believe in him, but the reality of getting into the hero course without a quirk was just low to impossible. When he came to you and told you he got in, you were ecstatic. He beat the odds, he would become a quirkless hero. He would become a hero alongside you, his best friend.
Your first day of UA was a shock. You hadn’t been able to test with Izuku in the entrance exam because they separated everyone up into different groups, you had no clue that he had a used a quirk to get in. When you heard from a student in glasses, Tenya Iida, that he had a quirk, you were in disbelief. When it came time to throw the ball during the endurance test you were utterly hurt when Izuku threw the ball with such force.
You were hurt upon learning he had a quirk. How could he have a quirk? Izuku, your childhood friend. Izuku, your best friend. He was quirkless. You spent many nights up late comforting him when he cried over the fact he was quirkless. You spent many days defending him from your peers when they bullied him over it. Sometimes you felt guilty for having a water quirk, and you even had a scar from fighting with Katsuki when he called Izuku worthless.
Why would he lie? Why would he lie to you? You trusted him so much, didn't he trust you?
You had been deciding how to approach the quirk subject with your best friend. You knew you should've left Izuku and Ochaco alone, they had to prepare for their fight against Tenya and Katsuki, you should've been preparing with your own teammate but you needed to confront Izuku, you wouldn't be focused enough to fight if this was this distracting you.
You ran your nervous hands through your hair as you approached Izuku and his teammate. You bit on your lip as ypu spoke to him, careful words trying to make your voice seem calm and the least upset as possible.
“Izuku, can we talk? I mean... Unless you’d rather get ready for your fight.”
Just by standing in front of him, Izuku could tell you were nervous and upset. He had known you for years, he could see the way your hands shook ever so slightly, the way you bit on your lip, habits you did when you were nervous. The way you adverted his gaze and wearily eyed Ochaco backed up his thoughts. Izuku looked over at his teammate with an apologetic smile.
“I’ll be right back.”
Izuku grabbed onto your hand and pulled you away from the rest of class. Worry etched his face as he spoke his words. His worry brought comfort to your stomach. Surely if he was this worried over you, then his lie was not as complex as you thought. Perhaps, he had a good reason to lie - but was there ever a good reason?
“What’s up? Are you okay?”
“I... When did you get a quirk?”
With your simple question Izuku dropped his hold on your hand and nervously played with his own. It was such a simple question, but he couldn't answer it. Between his silence and nervousness, all those negative feelings came back.
Why did he lie to you? You trusted him more than anyone else, did he not trust you the same?
“You told me you didn’t have a quirk, you had Katsuki convinced too... I guess I just don’t get why you lied to me... Out of all people, I know the most about you, we’re best friends.”
You took a deep breath as he remained silent. You could see his eyes, just as nervous as yours. The little clogs in his brain turning, trying to find an excuse. There wasn't a good excuse for a lie as big as this, was there?
“I just wanna know why, I mean, I- fuck, people made fun of you, but I was always there for you. Do you not trust me?”
“[Y/N], it’s not like that.”
“Then tell me why you lied.”
“[Y/N]... I can't tell you...”
You balled your hands into fists and kept them at your side. He could have said he was a late bloomer, but he didn't want to lie to you. He couldn't lie to his best friend, but he couldn't tell his mentors truth. He couldn't lie, nor be truthful, because of that he was going to lose you.
“Can’t or won’t? Never mind, it doesn't matter.”
Your eyes were glaring down at the ground as a few tears leaked out as your hand went up to your arm and grabbed your scar. He didn't trust you enough to leave this information with you. He didn't trust you enough to be honest, but you had a scar adorned on your skin, proof that you would do anything for him.
“I don’t think we should be friends anymore.”
You didn’t wait for Izuku’s reply. You didn't look up to see if he was upset. Instead you wiped the tears off your eyes with the back of your hand and turned on your heel. You walked away from Izuku, your now former friend and walked towards your partner for the class assignment.
He was tall compared to you, and his hetero-chrome eyes pierced into your soul. He towered over you as you smiled at him and introduced yourself.
“Hi, I’m [Y/N] [L/N].”
He wasn't there to make friends. He wasn't there to play nice. he was there to become a hero. Yet as you smiled at him, he couldn't help but flash you one of his own, albeit a very was quick, and brief one.
 “I’m Shouto Todoroki.”
Tumblr media
After you introduced yourself to Shouto you really connected. Maybe it was the fact your quirk is elemental based like his. Maybe it was the fact that your water and his fire were so different yet so good together. Maybe it was the fact that your water was so calming in contrast to his fathers fire, the man he was trying his best not to be.
You became Shouto’s first friend at UA. You stuck through his mood swings and earnestly listened to him when his father upset him. You began to have late night talks about your dreams and aspirations. You walked to school every morning, and you ate lunch together. In a sense, Shouto replaced Izuku as your best friend.
You were Shouto’s first real friend, one his father actually tolerated. You were Shouto’s best friend. Maybe that was why it hurt him so much when you and Izuku got on talking terms again.
It had been Shouto’s decision to befriend Izuku after the sports festival. It had been him to push you into talking with Izuku again. He had been the one to tell you that Izuku was nice. He had been the one to tell you that Izuku deserved a second chance, so why did it hurt so much. Why did it hurt to see you smile at Izuku? Why did it hurt to see Izuku already at your door when he came by to walk you to school? Why did it hurt when Izuku helped you with homework? Why did it hurt when he saw you both so close?
Shouto couldn’t help but stare down at his food as you and Izuku goofed off across the lunch table. He began to miss the days before he urged you to talk to Izuku. He missed the days where it was just you too together. The days he had you all to himself.
“My mom wants me to come home from the dorms for the weekend, do you wanna come with me and see her?”
“I love your mom! Of course I’ll come by.”
Shouto moved the food around on his plate, but he still didn't eat it. He wanted to be able to take you home. You would love his older siblings. Natsuo and Fuyumi would adore you.
“Sho, you should come with us.”
Shouto’s briefly looked up at you but put his attention back on his food once he saw your huge smile. You looked so happy at the aspect of going with Izuku to be his family. He wanted to be able to take you home, but why would you want to? His family was anything but perfect and loving like Inko and Hisashi Midoriya. He had a bastard father, dead brother, and a mentally unstable mother. They were perfectly, dysfunctional.
“Oh. That’s alright, I’ll just stay in my dorm tonight.”
“Are you not feeling well? You barely ate your lunch.”
Shouto’s cheeks flushed from the attention you gave him as you leaned over and placed your hand against his forehead. You quickly removed it after you received both, a perfect cool and a perfect warm temperature from each side of his head. Shouto couldn't help that feeling that entered his gut as you worried over him. He felt warm and fuzzy on the inside.
“I’m fine, I just really need to study for Present Mic’s English test.”
You frowned over at Shouto. He flushed and you were positive he hadn't ate a single bite of his lunch. It would be hard to detect a fever due to his quirk, maybe you should make him go to Recover Girl?
“Tell me if you begin to feel any different, okay? I can bring you some soup and company.”
Shouto didn't want to be such a possessive friend, but he couldn't help this feeling he got when Izuku came around. He couldn't help how upset and sad he felt as Izuku and you goofed off. Shouto was never good at expressing his feelings, but the more he thought about them, the more he realized what he felt for you. He wanted to be the one you laughed with. He wanted to be the one you held hands with. He wanted to be the one who helped you study. The one you trained with, shared secrets, and had family dinners with. He wanted to be yours.
Shouto was your friend, just your friend. He couldn't let these feelings screw things up, no matter how much it hurt him. After all, why would you want him when you could have Izuku? He would be perfect for you. He could give you a flawless relationship. You wouldn't have to deal with parental issues or the an emotionally constipated boyfriend. Someone without baggage and problems.
Shouto could suffer through it as your friend, no matter how much it hurt.
Tumblr media
You felt awkward as you sat in the Midoriya household. Maybe it was the fact that Inko had no clue you and Izuku were having friendship issues. Maybe it was the fact you were sat across from Hisashi but you barely knew Izuku’s father due to him traveling for work. Maybe it was the fact they talked and acted like you and Izuku were dating.
To be fair, you and Izuku had been friends for a long time. Inko always imagined you two would date and eventually get married. You were always in her home, holidays, birthdays, school projects. She was a second mother to you. A replacement to your own mother who emotionally and psychically abandoned you but placed pressures on you and your quirk. Your mother financially provided for you, but Inko was the one who was actually there.
The Midoriya household was an escape for you growing up. It was a safe space but now it was foreign. It was too soon to come back here. You still weren't over Izuku lying about his quirk. Your friendship was still fragile, it was still in the mend. The longer you were here, the more you realized how you weren't ready to forgive him.
Everything was different now. Inko wasn't there when you and Izuku stopped being friends. You stopped clinging to the Midoriya household as a stress reliever becuase it was no longer an option. Inko was Izuku’s mother not yours. You clung to your friendship with Shouto instead. He could relate and understand your stresses. He could relate and understand the pressures your mother forced and projected onto you. Things shifted and Shouto became your safe space, Shouto became your escape.
Your hands fidgeted under the table so you grabbed your thigh with your left  hand and picked up your fork with your right hand. You tried to eat your food to calmly get through this meal and evening.
“So, [Y/N]... Is Izuku treating you well?”
You scrapped around the food on your plate as you thought of how to delicately handle this matter. The question came from Hisashi. He wasn't home enough to know that you and Izuku weren't dating, he only knew what Inko thought and told him. Inko thought you and Izuku were going to be cliche childhood friends turned lovers. You couldn't blame Inko for thinking that. She wanted what was best for her son, and in her mind that was you. Growing up you and Izuku were so close and you, yourself, could have seen yourself being with him, but things changed.
You desperately wanted Shouto to come with you so you could avoid the awkward comments you would receive from Izuku’s parents. While you thought maybe a male presence would get them to back off of the fantasy of you being with Izuku, you couldn't lie - you really liked Shouto.
“It’s not like that with me and Izuku, were just friends.”
Once dinner was over you opted against going with Izuku up to his room and decided to stay and help Inko with the dinner dishes. Inko could help herself from prying into your business as you dried the dishes she was scrubbing. She could tell something changed between you and her son. You were sitting far apart and you were both so quite. Normally, you would've sat close together while you both geeked out over some hero.
“Did something happen between you and Izuku?”
While Izuku could lie to you, you couldn't lie to Inko. The woman practically raised you, so you told her the truth. The whole truth. From the argument, meeting Shouto, becoming Shouto’s best friend, the sports festival and slowly refriending Izuku.
“I’m awfully sorry my son is being so stubborn like that. He could just tell you the truth, he is a late bloomer. I think he’s embarrassed.”
“Don’t apologize for him. It just hurts because he was my closest friend, and after years of friendship he won’t admit that he’s a late bloomer? It hurts because he was willing to let me walk away from our friendship instead of fessing’ up.”
Tears were ready to fill your eyes thinking about how betrayed and hurt you were, before a small smile graced your face.
“At least I met Shouto from it.”
While she was disappointed in her son, Inko couldn't help but smile as she saw the sparkle in your eye when you spoke about Shouto.
“This Shouto, the one from the sports festival, do you like him?”
A blush creeped up your neck and spread across your cheeks as you looked away from Inko. You liked him, you liked him so much, but he was your friend.
“Shouto is my friend, my best friend.”
“That’s not what I asked. I asked if you liked him.”
“I- I don’t want to disappoint you. I know you always thought I’d grow up and marry Izuku, but Shouto... He’s nice, and bluntly honest. Sometimes he’s a little oblivious to things, but he’s there for me when I need him.”
“I’m not disappointed with you. ...A little bit with the way Izuku is being, but not with you. [Y/N], I know my son would rather I didn’t say this to you, but I’m going to give you some advice. You don’t have to stay friends with someone because of years of friendship, especially if you’re not in a place to be friends with him. Friends grow apart all the time, and you do not owe Izuku anything.”
Inko knew in the long run, her words would effect your friendship with Izuku, but she couldn't be selfish. She wanted you to marry Izuku and be her daughter, but she couldn't force that on you. You grew up as her unofficial daughter, and that meant she wanted what was best for you, just like any mother would want.
“Thank you for the advice.”
Your felt your phone vibrate and you whipped it out of your pocket to see a new message from Shouto.
Shouto Todoroki: If your not busy still with Izuku, is your offer for soup and company still on the table? [Sent: 8:27 PM]
[Y/N] [L/N]: Of course, Sho! xx [Sent: 8:32 PM]
“Inko, something came up and I have to get back to the dorms.”
“Of course. Have a safe trip back.”
You put your coat on and grabbed your purse once you reached the front door. Before you could turn the nob Izuku stopped you.
“You’re leaving already?”
“Yes, I need to get back to the dorms.”
“You can’t stay? I was hoping we could play a video game, or something... You know, like old times.”
You closed your eyes and took in a deep breath. You knew Izuku thought if you came to his home and remembered all your childhood memories, remembered all the good times then you would forgive him. He wanted you to drop the quirk thing, he wanted to push it all under a rug and be normal again. He couldn't do that, he couldn't pretend your friendship was the same. While you could try to get over it, try to move past it, the fact he wanted to pretend it didn't happen bothered you.
“Don’t do that.”
“Do what?”
“You know what your doing... You’re acting like you never lied to me, like we never stopped being friends.”
“I- I didn't want to make you feel uncomfortable... I thought this would help ease you back into our friendship.”
This whole evening was uncomfortable.
“Well I am. I am uncomfortable. You were my best friend and you lied, or at least won’t tell me the truth. Why?”
“You know I can’t tell you.”
“I don’t understand why you can’t tell me. I’d understand if you’re a late bloomer, I’d understand if it’s the fact that your quirk brakes your bones. I just want your honestly. What do you value more, your secret or my friendship?”
You felt angry as Izuku remained silent. He wanted to tell you but he couldn't. He told Katsuki. While he didn't really believe him, All Might made it clear he couldn't tell anyone.
“I don’t want you approaching me or talking to me. I’ll be civil in school because Shouto is my friend too, but I’m not your friend outside of school.”
“[Y/N]... Don’t go. I just can’t tell you the truth, my mom doesn't even know...”
With another buzz in your pocket from Shouto and Inko’s words of advice stuck in your head you say your last piece to Izuku.
“The thing is, once you lie once I can’t tell if your lying again. My trust in you is gone, and I don’t think it can be repaired. I put my trust in you, I’ve scarred myself for you, but you hurt me. Friends drift apart all the time, and that’s okay, we’ve drifted apart, that’s okay. Right now Shouto needs me and I don’t intend to drift apart from him.”
Izuku wanted to tell you, but he couldn't. He had to keep his mentors secret. All Might warned him about the dangers that lurked with this secret. He had to keep it because just the knowledge of it could put you in danger. Izuku stayed silent as he watched you walk out the door. He was silent as he let you walk away from him for the second time, the emotional rift between you wide, pushing you away from him and closer to Shouto. He had to keep this secret to keep you safe, even if it hurt so much.
Tumblr media
You left quick hard knocks on Shouto’s dorm room door as you balanced two servings of Shouto’s favorite soba and two hot cups of tea from the place you ordered food from a lot. Mr. Aizawa had given you a hard glare as you went up to the boys dorms but after he seen you had fresh soup he let you go with the simple warning that you better be out of there in an hour or you'd receive a detention.
It didn't take long for Shouto to open the door. He immediately took the food from your hands and placed it on the counter. He turned back to you with small smile on his face.
“Hey, I brought you soup.”
“Thank you.”
Shouto smiled as he watched you open the takeout package and pour his soup in a bowl. You carried his soup over to him and felt the back of his head with the back of your empty hand.
“You should be in bed resting.”
You grabbed Shouto’s hand and pulled him over to his bed. You placed the soup on the edge of the nightstand by his bed as you instructed him to lie down. You wrapped his blankets around his body and tucked in the end under his feet.
Shouto smiled up at you as you handed him his soba. You looked so sweet and worried over him. Maybe it was the fact he hadn't had someone worry and care over him when he was sick in a long time. Sure he had his father, but he didn’t take care of him. He just fed him medicine and left it at that. It filled him with such intense longing feelings as he watched you maneuver around him, tucking him in, bringing him water, and even getting him soup.
He didn't even have the heart to tell you he wasn't actually sick. He used that as an excuse to get you over, he planned to tell you... But then you started worrying over him.
“Thank you [Y/N], this means a lot to me... I’m sorry if I ruined your evening with Izuku.”
“Truthfully, I’d rather be here taking care of you than with Izuku. We got in another fight.”
Shouto knew he shouldn't feel so happy about it. He should feel sad and push you to talk it out with Izuku, but he didn't. He didn’t give you advice or tell you that you'd both makeup. Instead he felt hopeful. He could be just as good as Izuku, he could make you happy. Instead, he grabbed your hand and laced your fingers together.
“You’re a great person, Izuku’s being an idiot by just letting your friendship slide away.”
“Thank you, Sho... Ugh, I should go, Aizawa is gonna bust in any minute and kill me.”
You go to pull your hand out of Shouto’s but he keeps a firm grip.
“Stay...”
You know you should leave. You should go to your dorm or else Aizawa will give you detention. You should leave but Shouto’s smile was so inviting, and who wouldn't take the chance to relish in the presence of their crush.
“Aizawa will literally kill me.”
“I’ll take the blame... I just don’t want you to go right now. I want... I want to be with you right now.”
You didn’t go back to your room that night. You stayed the night in Shouto’s dorm. You slept beside him, and when morning came you woke up with your face pressed against his chest. You hadn’t known he was staring down at you with love in his eyes. You hadn’t know he was watching you with a wanting, domestic feeling in his chest.
Tumblr media
After that night everything changed. The dynamic in your friendship with Shouto shifted, and Izuku became a thing of the past to the both of you. You were civil to Izuku for the sake of your mutual friends but that was it. You didn't talk to him willingly inside of school, or outside of school.
Shouto seemed to take your side in the whole ordeal. He hadn't pushed you to talk it out with the boy or even asked you to be civil. In fact, Shouto seemed to distance himself from Izuku. He didn't eat lunch with Izuku, but preferred to eat a meal in solitude with you. He didn't study with Izuku, he preferred to study with you in the back of the library or in your dorm room.
Shouto knew it he should've done the heroic thing and push you to be friends with Izuku, but he couldn't. After that night, Shouto’s feelings for you became so clear. He wanted to hold you, to be the one who protected you, the one comforted you and prevented your tears. He wanted to be your boyfriend, and more. He wanted to be to you, what his father should've been for Rei. He wanted to be the one to make you feel loved.
It wasn't an insecurity, or him being possessive. While he didn't like the idea of you having someone who shared so much history with you in your life, he was really reluctant because he saw the way Izuku looked at you, but then he saw how he treated your friendship.
Izuku looked at you how Shouto looked at you, but Izuku was willing to throw away your friendship. Shouto could live with someone better sweeping you off your feet. Shouto could live with you falling in love with a great man who treated you good, good and better than he could. He could live knowing someone better than him had you, but Izuku was not a better man.
You deserved someone willing to give you the moon. Someone, kind, loving, and honest. Maybe that’s what pushed Shouto to tell you the truth about that night. Izuku lied to you, or at least with held information and that caused your friendship to drift, but Shouto lied to you as well. He wanted to be honest with you, he wanted to be different than Izuku.
“I have a confession to tell you.”
The words kind of just tumbled out on their own. You lifted your head up off of his chest and with furrowed eyebrows you looked in his eyes. You had previously been peacefully cuddling together on the grass under a shady tree to escape the heat. Shouto’s tone sounded so serious that you had to pull away from his cool chest to look in his eyes and give him your full attention.
“Are you the one who ate my muffin?”
“That was Bakugo.”
“Okay, then what’s up? You sound very serious.”
Shouto’s stomach dropped. He felt nervous to tell you. You were already upset about the muffin, and he knew how you felt about lies. Izuku lied, and you stopped being friends. What if you stopped being his friend? No. Shouto had to tell you. He had to tell you out to respect. He had to tell you because this is the type of thing his father would do, and he didn't want to be like that. He had to tell you because this is how Izuku hurt you, and he didn't want to do that.
“Do you remember that night a couple of weeks ago, when you came over and took care of me?”
“Yeah, you were sick so I came over, and stayed the night.”
“I wasn't really sick.”
You let out a sigh before lacing your fingers with Shouto’s. You were hurt that he’d lie like that, but the fact that he was sitting here, spilling out the whole truth with comforting. You smiled at him to which he responded one that could only be described as a nervous, unsure one.
“Why did you lie?”
“I... I was jealous. The idea of you spending the evening with Izuku upsets me. [Y/N], I really like you. I like how you worry and care about me, and I like all the little things about you, that stupid scowl and pout you do when your upset, and the way you stick your tongue out after an argument when no ones looking. [Y/N], I like you and I know I’m probably ruining things, but I needed to be honest with you.”
“Sho, you’re not ruining things.”
You bit your lip as you scooted closer to Shouto. You unlaced your hands but just so you could then slither them around his body. You rested your chin in the crook of his neck and placed your lips by his ear as he tightly clung onto you.
“I’m not mad you lied, because you were honest with me... You’re always honest that’s why I like you.”
“You like me?”
”So much, Sho, so much. I like how you’re always honest with me, I like how you're so protective, I like the little sweet things you for me, like how you let me take advantage of your quirks, and how you scare off Mineta when he’s being a pervert.”
As Shouto planted a kiss to the top of your head you were oblivious to your audience. The truth is, Izuku was coming over to tell you the truth. He was going to tell you about he how he got his quirk. He couldn't stand the fact that he wasn't friends with you. He couldn't stand how much it hurt not having you around.
As he watched Shouto hold you, tears welled up in his eyes. You were so perfect together. You brought out the best in Shouto, you made Shouto feel stable enough to express his emotions, you made Shouto feel like he was his own person, like he wasn’t just Endeavor’s son. Izuku could see the way Shouto stared down at you, with love and adoration pooling in Shouto’s eyes, and Izuku could see the way you looked back at Shouto. He made you safe, happy, secure.
You were perfect together, and all Izuku did was hurt you. It hadn't taken long for Izuku to back track his steps. He turned around and retreated from his initial plans to tell you everything. You weren't his anymore. you weren't Izuku’s. You belonged to someone who would give you the world and would. You belonged to someone better. You belonged to Shouto now.

Izuku's Birthday and he is officially 10
Ao3 *** First *** Previous *** Next
~~~~~~~~~~
The day after meeting my father was my tenth birthday. Dad had to leave for the day, but he promised that afterwards we would celebrate. Today it was just Mama and me.
“What would you like as a present this year Izu?” Mama asked as we entered a huge toy store.
That was when Izuku saw a little boy and his mother, and he couldn’t believe his luck. Kachan was here! Why? Why now? Why today? Izuku could not believe his luck. Don’t look this way. Please! To late the blonde red eyed child turned around and saw Izuku. The child tugged his mother’s arm and they both headed towards them Izuku immediately put a smile on and said in a somewhat happy tone “Hi Kachan. Hi Auntie Mitsuki.”
“How are you Mitsuki? Hello there Katsuki.” Mama greeted the two and they talked a bit. Kachan kept glaring at me but I didn’t let it bother me. I was too exited for tomorrow. Dada and I are going to spend all day together and dealing with Kachan is nothing compared to that.
Mama and auntie were talking so I started to look around the store not far from mama. I was holding a All Might travel bag when I heard a small laugh behind me. I knew it was Kachan only he seemed to give off a smug aura that was a bright red. “You know you are such a cry baby Deku. I bet if All Might ever met you, he would laugh” after that Kachan began laughing, “All Might would never pay attention to a Deku” I was getting mad. Toshi would never do that, my dad would not laugh at some one for being scared he always comforted everyone he has saved.
It took all of my will power to not scream at Kachan. I took a deep breath and counted 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and let it out as I did, I thought calm thoughts a calmed my aura and it spread around me. “I feel sorry for you if you think that way Kachan” my voice was so even that Kachan’s aura seemed to shutter scared and then calm. Kachan stood there with his mouth open as I went back to mama. I tugged on mama’s sleeve to not speak over her or Auntie, when she looked at me, I held up the bag and said, “I found something Mama!” I smiled genuinely for the first time since seeing Kachan.
“Well, it seems like we are ready to check out. Bye Mitsuki.” Mama waved and I turned and waved I couldn’t help but see the uncertain way Kachan was staring at me, this wasn’t odd at school we always competed with each other, he was probably thinking of how to win next time. Mama chuckled “This is perfect” she looked at me suspiciously “were you using your quirk while Mitsuki and I were talking?”
“No! I wasn’t mama I promise” I jumped as if I was being electrocuted. I began to blush because I just used the quirk, she was accusing me of using.
---
Izuku and I went home after spending the day out. I went to the kitchen and began dinner.
“Mama?” I nearly jumped. Izuku was usually talking and was never quiet. When he was silent, he almost seemed to not make a sound and would almost disappear if you didn’t have eyes on him. Probably a result if his quirk or at least one of them.
“Yes Izuku” I was practically clutching my chest, but I noticed why he seemed to be unnaturally unlike himself. He was looking at the floor fumbling with his hands.
“Mama I want to tell dad about my quirk.”
Why does he want to tell Hisashi? “I don’t know if that is the best idea” now it was my turn to be uncomfortable. But to my surprise Izuku laughed.
“No not Papa. Dad” Izuku was still laughing and it probably didn’t help that my confusion was apparent. “Dad. I want to tell Toshi.”
Realization hit me and I couldn’t answer. I trust Toshi. And he did trust us with his secret. Can I? Can I do the same? “Why? Why do you want to tell him?”
---
In all honesty Izuku was not ready for that question. He thought mom would say yes or no or something like that. But he didn’t think mama would ask him why. Izuku thought for a moment. Just a moment. “I trust Toshi and Toshi trusts us. I, I don’t want to hide from dad. I want to be a hero like dad, but I can’t if I don’t tell him the truth about my quirk” I looked up at mama and she was thinking hard, her nose was scrunched, and her lips were in a tight line she thought for a long time.
Mama sighed after a long, long time, “Alright, but are you absolutely sure you want to tell him?” I nodded my head; my mind was made up.
---
Inko looked at her son fondly, he was growing up fast, too fast for her tastes. Izuku had a smile on his face but it disappeared. And she began to panic. Before she could say anything, he whispered, “Papa asked about my quirk.” Her breath caught in her throat. He can’t know. He shouldn’t know about Izuku’s quirk. “he didn’t know anything mama.”
“How can, you be sure?”
“Because he asked me what it was, and his color didn’t change, and he didn’t think about it.”
“Izuku” she needed to know “What did you tell your father?”
“That my quirk makes me fast and strong” she pursed her lips at this “he thinks it is a mutation” at this she was finally able to breathe. Hisashi was smart, and learning about quirks is his passion, something Izuku inherited. Thankfully, he thinks Izuku’s quirk is simple, strange, but simple. “Are you mad, mama?”
“No, you know better now to only trust few because I can’t lose you not again, never again” Izuku hugged her.
---
I opened the door quietly, not knowing if Izuku was already asleep. To my surprise he nearly talked me when I opened the door. “Dad’s home, Dad’s home mama.” Izuku called out to his mother while pulling me towards the living room.
“How was work?” Inko asked like she always did, but tonight she seemed a bit tense. She was holding a mug in her hands and on the table were two more.
“Work was fine, are you alright?” I went into a frenzy trying to figure out what was upsetting her. I asked so many questions so fast that not all left my lips. To my utter surprise Inko didn’t answer but Izuku did, well sort of.
Izuku laughed, “Mama is fine Dad” I looked at him “she isn’t hurt or scared of anything.”
I looked at the child and was in awe a ten-year-old was so calm and Toshi could not understand so he looked at Izuku as if to clarify.
“Mama is nervous, because, because I want to tell you something.” He paused and looked dead serious almost as if he knew everything going on. “something as big as you are being All Might.”
He didn’t know what to say or do so he simply nodded and listened. Inko gave him a mug and sat next to him. Izuku was sitting in the chair next to the couch and took a deep breath.
“I wanted to tell you about my quirk.” His quirk? Isn’t it a strength quirk? “No, my quirk is not a strength quirk. My quirk is, um well, I have multiple quirks.” I froze what this, this cant be true. Izuku can use many quirks. Does he steal them. No, he can’t, he can’t be like him. “I don’t steal quirks. I can copy any quirk I see used in person, but only if I understand how it works. I make a copy and can then use it any time.”
This is major I looked over at Inko and her lips were in a tight line and she almost looked to be in tears. I placed the mug down and looked at Izuku who looked at me. I stood up walked around the table and crouched down. Izuku was shaking and holding his breath, he was scared, just like was when I told them I was a hero. That was when I hugged Izuku I hugged my boy and he cried into my shoulder.
“It’s okay, it’s okay” he tried to reassure him “You were so brave to tell me. And that does not change the fact that you are my son and I love you. So, thank you for being honest with me Izuku I know that could not have been easy.” He had pulled away from the boy and wiped the tears from his eyes. Izuku seemed to be relieved at his answer and hugged him tight. “now it is time for you to go to bed we have a big day planned tomorrow after all” Toshi stated with a chuckle and the little tike ran off to get ready for bed.
“Thank you” Inko whispered as if she had not taken a breath since he had arrived.
“What for?”
“For accepting Izuku.”
“Well” Toshi shuffled his feet and ran a hand through his hair timidly “Izuku accepted me first” and he let out a laugh.
We Make a Family Ch.2 (SFW)
Toshinori started Monday morning with a renewed vigor, and everyone noticed it. He assisted Aizawa with Class 1A outdoor training as usual.
"You look really happy today All Might, did you get lucky this weekend? Who's the lucky lady?"
Mina Aishido asked him. She had a bad habit of being nosy, and loved drama. She didn't start it, but if there was drama around, she wanted to be among the first to hear about it.
Toshi chuckled and said,
"No and No, I'm just in a good mood because I slept well and had a great breakfast, so I feel fantastic."
Ashido accepted the explanation with a pout to her lip. Aizawa scolded her for stopping her training to pester All Might. She apologized and went back to what she was supposed to be doing. Around an hour later while the students were about to head back to their next class, All Might stopped Izuku.
"Hey Izuku, meet me in my office for lunch. There's something I'd like to talk to you about."
Izuku looked quizzically at him.
"Okay, sure. What do you wanna talk about? My training?"
Toshi shook his head.
"No, something else, but we'll talk about it then, alright?"
Izuku still had his eyebrows wrinkled up in confusion.
"Alright, see you then."
He ran ahead to catch up with Ida and Ururaka.
Toshi watched him walk away, once again lost in thought.
Aizawa noticed him acting strangely.
"Hey….something going on?"
He asked.
Toshi looked at him, silent for a time.
"Do you remember when we had to talk to parents about the students living in dorms?"
Aizawa nodded.
"Yeah I remember, what about it?"
Toshi took a deep breath and exhaled, not sure what his reaction would be.
"Well, I personally spoke with Izuku's mother and convinced her to let Izuku live in the dorms and continue studying here at UA. Before I left, I gave her my number to contact me if she had questions or needed anything."
Aizawa listened quietly, waiting for him to continue.
"Friday night she texted me, said she wanted to meet with me about Izuku's progress in school."
Aizawa looked confused.
"Izuku's doing just fine in all his classes, so I'm not sure what the problem is?"
Toshi realized he needed to elaborate.
"No, there's no problem or anything bad, just the opposite actually."
He laughed nervously, and Aizawa looked like he was beginning to understand.
"We discussed Izuku and his schooling over dinner, but conversations changed, and we ended up having a really good night. I wanted to see her again, but I thought better of it, so I was just going to let it go. She texted me after I got home that she couldn't stop thinking about it, and that she wanted to see me again. I told her, I felt the same. We're trying to plan something out for this weekend."
Toshi realized he had slowly developed a big grin on his face as he recanted the story.
Aizawa raised his eyebrows and had a faint smile.
"You seem really happy, so I'm happy for you. I hope for your sake that it doesn't drive a wedge between you and Midoriya. There's no denying that you're a father figure to him, everyone can see that but...that, and you actually dating his mom, are two very different things. Kids react poorly to that sort of thing sometimes. He might think his mom is trying to replace his dad with you. He might think that you're crossing a line trying to be his dad when you aren't. You might get this idea in your head that you'll all end up a big happy family, and I'm worried for you that this won't end well."
Toshi's face fell and he looked down. Aizawa noticed that he looked genuinely hurt. His expression softened.
"Look uh...I didn't mean to be harsh. I just think you-"
Toshi cut him off,
"No, thank you. I need the reality check sometimes, you're good for that. I'm taking it slow, I don't want anybody to get hurt here. I need it to be the right thing to do, for everyone involved."
They started walking back to the teacher's break room together.
"So….how do you plan on figuring out how Midoriya would feel about you being with his mom without pulling the rug out from under him?"
Aizawa asks. Toshi remains silent.
Aizawa nodded. "That's what I thought."
Lunch time comes around. Toshi ordered a couple of sushi boxes for the two for lunch and waited in his office for Izuku to arrive.
"Oh, you got sushi boxes for today, thank you!"
Izuku says, taking a seat across from Toshi at his desk.
"You're welcome."
Toshi says. They both start eating.
"So….what did you want to talk about?"
Izuku asks.
Toshi sets his chopsticks down.
"Your mother and I had a conference this weekend."
Izuku put down his chopsticks just as he was about to eat another piece.
"You did? Is….everything okay? I thought my grades were good? If not I'll work harder, I promise!"
His voice raised near the end. Toshi chuckles.
"No, your grades are fine, kid. Your mom wanted to talk about more than grades. How you're doing at school, friends, adjusting to the dorms, that sort of thing."
Izuku relaxes.
"Oh, I see."
And starts eating again.
"What I wanted to talk to you about is something she told me during our discussion that I found...a little upsetting."
Izuku stopped eating and looked up at him again, looking a mixture between concerned and confused.
"She told me you don't visit her that often anymore."
Izuku looked incredulous.
"That's it? That's-"
"This isn't a joke Midoriya."
Toshi interrupted.
Izuku falls silent, Toshi lowers his voice.
"Your father passed away when you were little, right? And your family never owned any pets. Now that you've moved into the dorms, your mom is….she's all alone in the house. She said you used to visit every weekend, and so it wasn't so bad, but now you hardly ever come by. She knows as I do that it wasn't intentional, but that maybe you didn't think about it from her perspective. I don't want you to tell her I told you about this. I only want you to start visiting her on a regular basis. It doesn't have to be every weekend, every other weekend would probably be fine with some exceptions here and there. There's nearly another month before the end of first term. Summer's coming soon, and I'm sure you'll be living with her again for it, but I want you to remember this for the second term."
Toshi could see it in his eyes that Izuku was genuinely hurt, and felt very guilty. He looked down in shame.
"I had no idea she felt that way...I can't believe I didn't even think about it."
Toshi looked softly at him.
"It's okay. She knows you're a teenager doing teenager stuff, hanging out with your teenager friends."
Izuku chuckles a little.
"She knows you're growing up, becoming independent. That can be especially hard for a single parent. She just needs to know that she's still a part of your life, that you haven't forgotten about her."
Izuku puts on a small smile, nods and thanks him for the advice.
They finish their food, and Izuku leaves to get to his next class. Toshi wishes he tried talking about the other things relating to Inko, but he has no idea how to broach the subject. Probably best to see how the second, er, first OFFICIAL date with Inko goes.
He thinks about having an actual date the coming weekend, and feels giddy with a childlike joy.
Toshi and Inko start texting each other throughout the week, learning a little more about each other with each conversation. Toshi starts a game of 20 questions with Inko on Friday night for the main purpose of figuring out her favorite kind of flower in a subtle way. He buys a bouquet of them in preparation of the date Saturday night. They're going to a small concert of one of Inko's favorite local bands in the city park. Toshi wasn't big into music, but it still sounded like a wonderful time.
It was finally Saturday night. Inko had a band T-shirt on paired with a casual long black skirt and her hair tied up. Toshi wore a nice pair of jeans and a plain black T-shirt. When they first met up, Toshi handed her the bouquet of flowers. Inko adored them.
Even when the sun went down, the park was still bright with the light of the full moon, the concert lights and the sparkling of fireflies in the park. However, to Toshi, there was no brighter light within view, than the way the lights twinkled in Inko's eyes as they danced, and sang, and laughed. Eventually the concert was over, and the band packed up and left, but not before Inko got a new shirt and had it signed by every member of the band. The pair decided to take a walk around the park and enjoy the rest of the night in the peace and quiet and cool breeze of the summer air. At one point as they walked, talked and laughed, Inko's hand touched his arm, and slid down both expertly and subconsciously until their hands folded together as they walked. They both blushed, one not noticing the either. Toshi wanted to acknowledge it, but feared embarrassing her, so he just enjoyed it and let things be. They eventually came to a nice park bench close to the edge of a lake in the middle of the park. They took a seat and looked out over the lake and watched the moonlight reflected in it. Inko shivered, then curled up into Toshi's side. He tentatively put an arm around her, and she relaxed further into him, putting her head on his shoulder. He leaned his head over hers. They sat like that for a while, in comfortable silence.
"This….was an amazing night. I...I don't know how to put it into words."
Inko broke the silence.
Without looking Toshi responded,
"I feel the same. Sometimes things….can't be put into words."
Inko was silent for a moment before responding.
"Do you want to know how many dates I've been on since Hisashi died?"
Toshi was caught off guard by the question.
"Uh, sure...how many?"
She chuckles lightly.
"Two"
Toshi thinks for a moment.
"In around a decade you haven't had more than, three, maybe four dates total? You're wonderful, I can't imagine why-"
"No, silly!"
Inko interjects.
"When I said two, I mean only two."
Toshi starts putting it together in his mind.
"Do you mean….last weekend, and today?"
He was looking at her now.
She looks softly at him.
"Yes...just with you."
Toshi looks shocked.
"Only me? Why?"
She has a gentle smile on her face.
"Well, it's not like I couldn't GET dates. I just didn't think I could ever feel again what I felt with Hisashi. He was a wonderful father, such love and kindness in his soul. After he was gone, I put all my focus on Izuku."
She looks up at the moon.
"But then….I don't know. You remind me of him. Izuku is so much like both of you. I thought for a long time that dating again would feel like I was betraying Hisashi, and Izuku. I've been thinking about it lately. I think Hisashi would want me to be happy again, even if that means being with someone new. As for Izuku, well, I can only hope that above all else, even his own personal feelings, that he just wants me to be happy."
She takes Toshi's hands in her hands and looks at him.
"That he would want us to be happy."
Toshi is speechless.
They stare at each other for a while.
He lifts his left hand out of hers and brushes her hair behind her ear, then slowly leans forward.
Inko smiles and puts her hands on his chest. He pulls her in, his arms around her waist, and they kiss. The kiss is fairly short, but sweet, and powerful.
They grin like happy idiots afterwards at each other, and hug.
Inko checks her phone.
"Oh dear, it's a little after 1am!"
Toshi looks shocked.
"Is it really that late....er I guess….early?"
Inko giggles.
"Yeah, haha. I think it's time to go home."
She says, a little sadly.
As they start to walk back to the parking lot, Toshi puts his arm around her waist and pulls her close to his side, then says in a playful voice,
"Oh, if only the night lasted forever."
Inko started giggling.
"Oh stop it, you're a hopeless romantic!"
They both giggled, and began swapping silly and cliche pickup lines and giggling about them as they made it to the parking lot. Toshi walks her to her car. She gets in the driver's seat and looks up, a little sad to have to go now.
"Text me when you get home safe, okay?"
Toshi says. Inko nods. As he's about to close the door, Inko throws her hands out to hold the door open and says,
"Wait!"
Toshinori is in shock from the unexpected outburst and jumps back. Inko gets out and stands to face him.
"One more….before I go?"
Toshi looks confused, then smiles as he figures out what she means. He pulls her gently close into an embrace, and she places her hands on either side of his neck. They kiss, this one longer, sweeter, and more passionate than the first.
"Goodnight."
Inko said when it was over. She untangled herself from him, then got back into her car.
"Goodnight."
Toshi replies.
He shuts her door for her and steps back. He watches her car pull out and drive away, and he keeps his eye on the shape of the car until it disappears into the distance. As he drives home, he cranks his radio loud and feels the music rush through him. He never felt more alive in his life until this moment. He sang along to any songs that came on that he knew the words to at the top of his lungs. Of course he wouldn't admit it, not now, it's too soon, but he knew that he couldn't deny it to himself.
He had completely and utterly fallen in love with Inko Midoriya.
All Might? In MY House?
Living In America, Hisashi has a system. Every six months, he asks for a week off and visits his son and wife in Japan. Yes, he calls them every Saturday of the week, but he still misses them, okay?
 His only regret is that he can't be there for his son as much as he wants to be, with him living halfway across the world
That being said, he usually asks for his week off a month before he actually takes it, but he shows up in his supervisor's office earlier than even that and asks, "May I take my week off a bit earlier, this time around?"
And since he's asked well in advance, it's not a problem, and Hisashi grins when he's given the green light to proceed. He thinks about calling Inko, telling her that he'll be able to see her two weeks earlier than usual, but decides instead to make it a surprise. He knows that Izuku is living in the U.A dorms right now, but his son has a habit of visiting his mother every odd Sunday, which is conveniently the day Hisashi will arrive in Japan, so it all checks out.
 And so here he stands in front of his house, suitcase besides him and a grin on his face. Oh man, he can't wait to see the looks on their faces.
He knocks on the door and holds his breath.
It doesn't take long for Inko to open the door, but the way she gasps out loud, with that adorable look of surprise on her face makes Hisashi laugh loudly and pull her into a hug.
"Hi-Hisashi!?"
 "Inko! Inko, I'm home!"
 She returns his hug, but still seems somewhat bewildered, "I- you- it's still two weeks before the usual time you visit Hisashi."
 He pulls back and gives her his brightest smile. "Suprise!"
 After that, he gives her a peck on her lips and pulls in his suitcase while simultaneously taking his shoes off, "I really really missed you and Izuku, and with all that's happened at U.A this year, I was worried, you know? I would have come earlier if I could have, but I couldn't, but I still didn't want to wait any longer! And I though, hey, maybe it'll make for a nice surprise, you know?"
He can hear Izuku talking to someone in the other room, which piques his interest, because, "Inko, do we have guests?"
"Well-"
And Hisashi turns the corner, catches one sight of the sickly looking man sitting on their couch talking casually to their son, and immediately backtracks. He looks at Inko with wide eyes, "Inko, what is All Might doing in our living room?"
She gives him a hopeless smile, "Izuku thought it would be nice to invite him over for dinner."
"All Might? Why- how does my son know All Might well enough to invite him over for dinner?"
And, oh the cheeky little woman, she trying to stifle her laugh right now, "He does teach at U.A dear."
Hisashi throws his hands up in disbelief, "That explains nothing!"
"Hey, mom? Who was at the door?" Hisashi and Inko both freeze when Izuku calls this out, and before Inko can give the boy a truthful answer, Hisashi whispers, "Inko, please, I can't face the No.1 Hero like this."
Inko just gives him an amused look, "I think you'll be fine sweetheart." Nonetheless, she calls out to Izuku, "I'll be there in a moment and tell you dear!"
 Inko turns back to her husband, "Now, how do you want to do this Hisashi?"
"I'm not even wearing my best suit Inko," Hisashi whines, "Why didn't you tell me we were having the Symbol of Peace over for dinner?"
 Inko tuts disapprovingly, "If you'd have called ahead, I might have. This surprise was your idea."
Hisashi buries his face in his hands and groans, "I regret my life choices."
Inko consolingly pats his shoulder, "Awwww honey, it's okay. Maybe you can bond with All Might over fathering Izuku."
And that- that completely stops Hisashi in his tracks. "What? What does that mean?"
Inko only smiles happily, "Oh, he's been awfully kind to our son, you know? They're both quite fond of each other, it's a treat watching them talk to one another with how happy he makes Izuku."
"Is- Is he trying to steal my son?"
Inko looks at him in alarm at the sudden turn their conversation, "What? No dear, I don't think that's-"
But Hisashi isn't listening anymore. He seems to have forgotten that he hasn't even greeted All Might yet, or how he was panicking at that very thought a few minutes ago, when Hisashi comes around the corner and points straight at All Might. "You."
All Might looks alarmed, and points at himself, "Me?". At the same time, Izuku straightens from where he was curled up against the couch's arm rest, "Dad?"
"Are you trying to steal me son? Is that what you're trying to do?" Hisashi calms down somewhat, but he isn't done yet. Let's just say that this is his own way of dealing with coming home only find fucking All Might sitting on his couch.
So, Hisashi completely changes his tone of voice and says, "I can actually understand why. Izuku is a very good son, after all. I'd want to adopt him too if he wasn't already my own."
And to Izuku's growing horror and Inko's utter amusement, All Might only nods solemnly, "You are absolutely correct. I take it that you are Midoriya Hisashi?"
"Yupp."
All Might stretches out a hand for Hisashi to shake, which Hisashi takes with a nod, "Then it is a pleasure to meet you. Izuku speaks very highly of you."
Hisashi gives All Might a grin and ah, so that's where Izuku gets his smile from, "I've heard quite a bit about you too. Though I'm sure there's a bit I'm missing about you being something more to my son than just his teacher."
"Dad, no-"
"Oh, I suppose Izuku never told you this Hisashi," Inko only sends a cheeky wink at Izuku, "But I'm sure that Izuku has called All Might 'dad' at least once."
"Mom! You can't- you can't just say that!" Izuku looks like a very bright tomato with how hard he is blushing. To his credit, All Might only let's out a boisterous laugh and doesn't seem at all perturbed by the accusation. In fact, he seems to welcome it.
"Well," Hisashi's grin is absolutely wicked and the pure unadulterated mischief in it makes Izuku sink into the couch and bury his face into a couch cushion, "If you're going to look after my son, I'm sure there are some baby pictures that must be looked at."
-
It's safe to say, Izuku doesn't escape that encounter with his dignity intact. Who knew taking up another parent would call for so much embarrassment?
Note
for a prompt: how about all for one (secretly being izuku’s dad) being mad that all might basically stole his son (and maybe even his wife) lmao
owo
All for One looks up and down the hall, before closing the door and locking it. His minions know better to bother him on a Sunday afternoon, but just in case.
He picks up his personal phone and opens it, before going to one of the only two numbers in the contact list. Midoriya Inko. He misses her and his son every day.
She picks up after only a couple of minutes. “Hisashi, hi!”
“Hello Inko,” All for One says, using one of his many quirks to pitch his voice a bit higher than it normally is. It’s the voice he’s always used for Hisashi. “How are you doing today?”
“Oh, just fine,” she responds absentmindedly, and now that he’s listening he can hear the steady pop and crackle of food being cooked. “I’m just starting on dinner right now.”
“This is early for you, isn’t it?” he asks, leaning back in his seat.
“Sure,” Inko agrees, “But we’re having guests over today, so I want to make sure that it’s just right.”
“The Bakugo’s?” All for One asks curiously. He knows that Inko is still friends with Mitsuki, but the two families haven’t actually gotten together in a long time. He’d always regretted that. Katsuki was a fun kid, powerful too. Izuku could have worse friends.
“No. Izuku’s new mentor, actually,” Inko says cheerfully. “He helped Izuku get into UA! Isn’t that wonderful, Hisashi?”
All for One stills for a second, staring blankly at the wall in front of him.
No. What?
“Oh,” All for One says distantly. “How nice. Who is it?”
“His name is Yagi Toshinori,” Inko responds cheerfully.
All for One falls silent, still staring blankly at the wall in front of him.
Then he says, “Inko, would you just excuse me for one second? I’ll call you back in a moment.”
He doesn’t wait for a response before he hangs up the phone. Then he very carefully puts the phone in his pocket, and rises to his feet.
And then he starts screaming, raging, throwing his chair against the wall, upending his desk, tossing his bookshelf aside.
“One for Alllllll!” he screams, incensed. How dare he? How dare he put him in UA, after All for One had worked so hard to keep him from hero society? And now One for All was coming into his house, eating meals with his wife -
Oh, One for All had a storm coming.
When All for One finally calmed down his murderous rage, he sat down on the now empty floor, took out his phone, and called his wife again.
“Sorry about that,” All for One said calmly. “Can you tell me a little more about this Yagi Toshinori?”
DadsTrio!AU (Take 1)
Okay, so this has been bothering me for weeks so imma just talk about it here
Au where Izuku’s is a IVF baby, and his parent’s are Inko, Hisashi, All Might, Aizawa, and Present Mic! (Lots of details under the cut)
Background info
Hisashi Midoriya works as a analyst for a Hero Office in America
He comes home more often than the manga
He and Inko have trouble conceiving on their own so they join a fertility program
The program is backed by SCIENCE (I’ll explain the process more later on)
Many single heroes (and same sex couples) use this program to “meet” a couple who will help them be a parent
In the case of heroes they don’t actually meet the couple until the pregnant is confirmed to prevent issues.
The couple gets some general information but never the heroes names.
Basically they donate egg/sperm and it is combined with that of the couple and they have a baby
So the baby has 3+ parents (more depending on the couple/arrangement
All Might, Present Mic, and Eraserhead are a happy couple.
This is not really public knowledge
They want to have a child
Join the program
