19. Tell me a story about your writing journey. When did you start? Why did you start? Were there bumps along the way? Where are you now and where are you going?

I actually still remember the first story I ever wrote! I think I was around six years old? And I was at home, feeling kind of bored because my parents were busy, so I sat down with a few sheets of paper, some markers, and wrote a little picture book about this owl called Mrs. Owl (original, I know) who was looking for her friend Katie. My dad (who also writes) was SO proud of me and I think I've been riding that high ever since tbh. I went from Mrs. Owl to a detective series about my cat (think the Thea Stilton series but with anthropomorphic cats) and then to warriors fanfic, and it's just gone on from there. The most major bump in the road has been my fibromyalgia, which causes brain fog and fatigue like you wouldn't believe 💀 Initially I wanted to be an author as my career choice, but I've had to let that dream slide because the brain fog makes it too difficult to read and write as much as I would need to as a full-time writer. Writing as a sort of side-hobby is still super fun though, so I'm not really unhappy about where I'm at. Just hoping to get on top of the brain fog + fatigue so I can give y'all more updates 💪

26. How do you get into your character’s head? How do you get out? Do you ever regret going in there in the first place?

Honestly I'm not too sure! For some characters, like Shenhe or Crystal Methyd, it comes pretty easy because I already relate to them on some fundamental level, so I just draw from myself and my own experiences. For others, I try to relate them to people I know or admire (I very much connect Nicky Doll with one of my best friends, for example), or I just go off on a tangent in my discord server, analysing the characters' behaviour, voicelines etc to get a better grasp of them. I've had to do that for Rosaria in particular quite a lot, lol. I find music also helps, if I can find songs I think they'll relate to (I basically had Promise to Try, Oh Father, Voices and Inside of Me (all by Madonna lol) rotating in my head when I was writing Shenhe's scenes in the early chapters of Destiny)

33. Do you practice any other art besides writing? Does that art ever tie into your writing, or is it entirely separate?

I draw (and should be animating bc that's like. what i'm studying. but I don't do it much lol) and play bass as well! Occasionally I also dabble in cosplay, painting denim, sewing etc but not so much nowadays. I'll occasionally sketch stuff from my fics but other than that there's no connection between my writing and my other hobbies :,0 admittedly though, when I don't know what to draw, I'll often fall back on drawing Shenhe and/or Rosaria 😂

None! I didn’t start seriously drawing until late 2019, and that was almost entirely digital, I never took an art class or drew with different mediums before that either so there wasn’t much to break

Trapper, 22 y/o [Species: Octoling??]

Trapper is not just an octoling, he was used to be one of the Kamabo experiment no.5150. Because he was saved by her adoptive mother, Ellie, he always have to hide his identity in the event of Splatoon 1. He doesn't know much about Dj Octavio and the Octarians clan, but he seems interested until the event of Splatoon 3. He doesn't talk, but he can use sign language (it's a sign that he's mute as always and it's because his voice is very likely to human languages and has no bubble effects in it like the other octolings. He's not an only child he was raised by her own mother, he has a sister, Veronika. He doesn't trust the Kamabo or Commander Tartar. He has a strong relationship with Four, but now he miss her (since they became separated and getting worried about her). And also, he's a gardener.

Veronika, 14(splat 3) - 16(now) y/o [Inkling]

She's a little feral and always care for his older brother. Never been join Grizzco industries because her little salmon buddy is afraid of the boss himself. She's a huge fan of Pearl from the Off the Hook. She interested any type of weapons and a mechanic engineer. Being forced to washed herself, since she's smell like fishes belongs in the sea. She's also a best friend of Murch. If you mess with Trapper, you mess with her (she'll forced you to drop yourself in the sea as an threat or eats gross food).

Agent/Captain 3 [No name], 21 y/o [Inkling]

Has slowly lost their original name and gender. Became tired and depressed because of the Octo expansion event, but still smiles when think about the past what they used to. They like Naomi as a close friend. rarely talks and type of introvert person. Doesn't want to talk about Deepsea Metro (they have PTSD). They can rap since they known as DJ Sango. Get along with the Squid sisters, even they stay as their part of the family. Always support other Agents no matter what and only the mysterious agent among others.

Surume/Four, 23 y/o [Inkling]

A great agent who always very positive and an extrovert person. She always like Trapper, who are very close to her (both always think about each other since they were separated from different city). She was busy due to an extracurricular, and a roommates with Hachi and Naomi. Four really care about Trapper's feeling for her if he's not in a good mood. She loves biology to know about sea creatures and even mammals, including plants. She's shorter than other agents.

Hachi/Eight, 21 y/o [Octoling]

An agent who is only one was escaped from the Deepsea Metro with his sister, Naomi. He doesn't get recover his traumatic experience back there, but always finds a way to avoid it. Kind to anyone, likes other agents. He doesn't know about Trapper, but he interested to meet him. Confidence to find answers. He's afraid of C.Q Cumber. When he's stares at you, it can tell he looks like a little puppy. He and Naomi lives with the Off the Hook as like their parent figure. Always protect his sister.

Naomi/Eight, 19 y/o [Octoling]

She's a bit shy and a fan of the Squid sisters after the effects of the Calamari Inkatation. She likes Cap 3 about their skills and being cool. She's barely talks, but always needs a help from her brother. She kinda loves the beautiful view around the new city or places she wants to travel. She's having a fear of Blender and being lonely without her brother or someone. She likes doing art and doodles on her sketch she bought in the surface. She always sticks with her brother since she doesn't want to get separated. And a friend of Four.

It was one of those nights, the ones where Lian was so consumed by the sorrows of life that he didn't wait to get home, instead sitting on the ground of the parking lot of the 7/11 he frequents to buy his cigarettes. He didn't expect to see another stranger there tho, and he certainly didn't expect to be rambled at for an hour after he so graciously agreed to let the strange man borrow his lighter. Suffice it to say, he will not be smoking in any parking lots any time soon.

Some rambles ab the characters and the drawing under the cut because I have more manners than Theodore ♡♡

So I headcanon Lian as a sort of introvert, only enjoying conversations when they are about things that he enjoys but his energy would still get depleted quite quickly. I thought it would be fun to pair him with my second most extroverted oc because they are a bit similar, both smoke and enjoy geeky stuff and cosplaying, and both are pretty and suffer with depression.

I imagine that Theodore gave him his number because that's just what he does, Lian was planning on throwing the small paper away but forgot, then he found it one day while doing the laundry and maybe he gave the flamboyant stranger a call idk, I mean, Theodore does have alot of good cosplay tips...

It took literal years off my life WTF. Lian had six fingers at one point, he looked fucking white, I had to ask my aunt to pose with her cigarettes, Theodore went through three different outfits, I had to ask a friend for outfits recommendation for Lian because I can't do casual (thank you so much @inkats btw u saved me) I literally had to take anxiety meds yesterday because of it. All so the end results looks like THIS. I'm sorry ya'll I genuinely tried..

So I was finally able to get around to watching the direct and OH MY GOD THE IMPLICATIONS OF SIDE ORDER (spoilers for the trailer ahead lol)

Pearl is a robot, you materialize into locations, and Acht saying "a bystander who got sucked in."

Like. Okay. Are we in an accidental matrix? Is this like. Some supercomputer/simulation experiment gone wrong that glitched so hard it essentially created another reality and erased Marina's memories or re-triggered her brainwashing and we're going into her mind to like refill it with color?

Marina is obviously important here in a Haunting The Narrative type of way. She isn't with you but she has major influence on what's going on, clearly evident by Acht knowing to immediately bring her up to Pearl after introducing herself. Something is up there.

Also, the things being cubed look like they might be related to memories or something? One looked not entirely unlike a memcake from Octo expansion and another looked like a giant plushie. I think we're really going to see some heavy memory loss based implications, amnesia or something to that effect, in relation especially to Marina. This would really allow Nintendo to dig into Marina's backstory and the origins of Off The Hook more than they already did in Octo Expansion.

Circling back to Acht, I REALLY NEED TO KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON THERE??? She's CLEARLY sanitized to some extent as we all already knew, but SHE'S SENTIENT AND SPEAKING TO US? The original sanitized octarians only spoke in commands, if they ever spoke at all, and I distinctly remember Marina bringing up that the sanitized octarians had NO VITAL SIGNS. AT ALL. NONE.

Furthermore, Acht has some weird colorization and is impressively creative as we know from their tracks as Dedf1sh. Is it reasonable to assume they're only like. Partially sanitized like many of us have theorized for so long? Did the Inkatation save them from/help them fight the effects of sanitization? Did they make the music for OE as a command from Kamabo Co. like the album art might suggest and now, with Kamabo Co. out of commission, left to follow their own desires as they no longer have someone presiding over them?

Having history with Marina at least indicates they both served under Octavio, and knew each other then. It would stand to reason she also was freed by the Inkantation. Maybe we'll finally find out how Tartar got ahold of those Octarians? Cod, maybe we'll even get an idea of what Sanitization really entailed beyond what little inference we could gather from the IV bags in OE.

I have so many questions and absolutely no answers and I don't think I'm gonna get any until next spring thanks Nintendo I love having brainrot.

I've finally finalized the design for one of my Splat3 OCs, Kenji (Still working on a last name).

This is Kenji. He is a Trans-Demi Male Octoling that evolved from a cut. Their mother was a former Octarian Heavy Weapons expert that fled with Kenji to the Splatlands 2 years after the second Calamari Inkatation.

2 years before the events of Splatoon 3's Hero Mode, his mother brought home another Octoling named Kaito Okatora (My main Splat3 OC) and allowed him to live with them, explaining that he was a relative (In a way. Kaito's mother was the Commanding Officer of Kenji's mother before she disappeared trying to rescue a subordinate despite being ordered not to). The two have been close since.

Kenji commands the Anarchy Squad "Inkwall Riders Supreme", and mains Heavy Weaponry like his mother, ranging from Exploshers to Dynamos.
