this isn’t necessarily new, but i think a big problem we are going to have to grapple with is that a lot of young people on both sides of the aisle who truly believe they are well-informed and plugged in simply do not even look at the news unless it’s pushed onto them via social media. that isn’t to say any news outlets are perfect (lol) but it does mean that what they know is decided by random people on the internet and a social media algorithm’s idea on what will get the most engagement

either young people need to start actually looking at the news (which is easy! a lot of places have free email subscriptions!) or we need to make tiktoks about the boring policy shit that impacts our lives the most year-round

The curse of being so knowledgeable on older animes is going to suck irl for as long as I live where I am-which is probably permanent rip-because man I wish it was possible from a education stand point for people to learn about the history of it. How anime has become such a phenomenon and one of the greatest works from across the global that has so much history to it that people in the west hardly know about unless they dig for it themselves. It’s something that deserves to have classes taught about it, deserves to have people learn and watch the all time classics that MADE anime-

but the issue with that is “even if anime popular it’s not apart hugely apart of our culture when it comes to how it was made and you can’t really show off most older works because they are long as fuck in a school that no student could reasonably stay on top of it” so this is never happening ever.

To add to my last post, (can ya tell this has been on my mind?) I had a friend who was younger than me by a few years get in a horrible situation with an adult they were talking with online. And I kinda blame myself for not reaching out more when we used to talk? Because, well, I am an adult! And I was an adult at the time of this. My friend, wasn't though, and I started staying away from them when I found out they were a minor. But, if I continued talking with them, maybe that horrid situation wouldn't have happened? I know I can't blame myself for the actions of a disgusting human-being, but I can take it as a lesson? Maybe? I made my 'Kaleidiope' accounts when I was a minor, and I was in fandoms with large 'teen/tween' fan-bases, and still am! I acknowledge fully - both then and now - that I have a responsibly to act and behave appropriately/accordingly in these circles (not that I ever would be inappropriate, I'm always so appalled when other adults don't take responsibly on these matters.) I've always hated the idea of needing to disclose personal info online. That it's become something normal. And often haven't due to wanting to set an example. But as I've gotten older, I grow more aware that being so ambiguous can bring discomfort. So I make this post with a purpose in mind: if me being a young adult bothers you for any reason at all (and you do not need to justify any reason as to why) you are free to unfollow me, block me, or whatever else you need to feel comfortable. I will always allow minors to interact with my blog and work, and will always try to give warnings accordingly for them. You can message me, talk about your interests, problems, whatever may be it! You're a person just like me after all! You deserve kindness. But know that I won't allow us to become close friends. You deserve friends in your own age-group for that.

i know server costs are a very real thing but regardless i do think that if you act like tumblr users being aggressively anti monetization is 1) just flat out unequivocally bad and 2) happening in a vacuum or out of petty stubbornness or whatever you should be stuck in a barrel and rolled down a hill or something

finally got around to doing some sizeable updates to byan's google site!

relatively minor bio updates: tweaked a couple small things & updated based on some small headcanons that have developed, updated tattoos, added interests + hobbies, and added a small note regarding their fashion to help convey their appearance to people who haven't been around to read all my thoughts/headcanons since i made the blog

headcanons: just linked everything significant i've posted since my last update

verse updates: added fledgling verse, spider-twin verse, & post-fog verse info, updated space orphan verse info to be less catch-all and instead focus fully on byan being ardaka's bounty hunting apprentice

soft mains update: i know i'm still missing a lot of people who i want to include but for the time being everyone listed is someone i've written with and/or plotted with extensively & whose muse(s) are very significant in byan's life. also added a subtitle labelling which verse the relationship exists in.
