A bloodthirsty creature of some kind that has been cursed to eternal hunger, maybe even a former human or what's left of it, knawing on its own body for a source that does not exist and being unpredictable, dangerous, and feels like suffering.

This term may or may not be GORIN or/and WHUMIN in some way.

on today's episode of Hashing Out Concepts Theatre, i spent a while today while waiting for my new fridge/freezer to be installed after my previous one died and i lost all my food hashing out a bunch of concepts for another game idea i have. (rest assured i'm not actually working on it as a game yet i just like to bash out a framework for things every now and then to make my brain do happy chemicals lmao)

putting all of this stuff under a cut since it's a bunch of images and also in case people aren't interested XD

i am regrettably a huge fan of comic books (mostly DC) and i've seen a couple of comic book inspired IFs popping up lately, though when it comes to my own interest, i'm definitely more into a straight interpretation of a comic book universe than a more. the boys-style universe - i'm into the camp lol, not so much the grim and gritty stuff. (though that's just my own personal preference)

anyway the idea behind That's Just Super is something that i really like about certain comics - giving the villains more of a purpose and rounded existence than just existing to be in somebody's rogue's gallery. the joker's angry defence of the batfamily from various other DC evil forces, lex luthor's furious resistance against brainiac alongside superman because it's His planet, damn it, DOOM throwing in with the heroes in every second marvel event comic... i really like stories where villains and evil characters don't always make the Most Evil choice just Because, but have clear and explainable motivations that sometimes bring them into what we'd consider a 'good' alignment because unlike in d&d, there's no real such thing as a concrete moral alignment.

(this is my banner design for it)

the basic idea is that an inexplicable cosmic event removes all of the superheroes from the planet, leaving it vulnerable to attack by evil mindflayer style aliens - unless the supervillains who remain are able to band together despite their more unpredictable, less cooperative natures and save the planet in the heroes' absence. after all... if aliens take over the earth, the villains can't take it over themselves.

here's my fun little UI design idea lmao...

the other major thing about That's Just Super that i've been hashing out is the pc. the basic idea is that you pick your villain identity from a list but you get to customise their like. birth name and secret identity, while the villain identity comes with its own name, costume, and set history (including occasionally past romantic encounters). i like playing around with the way that IF works with the idea of mcs and customisable mcs so i just thought it'd be a fun twist... it also allows me to create nice drama by having set occurrences in the past lol.

so i did some profiles for the nine villain options - three each of the DC triad of tech/metahuman/magic origin. they're all based on a specific kind of villain archetype, and i really tried to limit myself to ones where i could definitely pin down more than one specific influence so it didn't end up like me just making too many analogues haha... even if some of the influences are probably pretty obvious.

weirdly i haven't even Thought about ROs yet since i've been so focussed on the pc... maybe i'll play around with the partially set background idea even more and only have 1 possible RO for each villain choice or something. maybe a couple that you can romance as anybody... not sure. (talionis could definitely have a messy broken romance with his superhero for example)

guys i had a dream,

a matchablossom dream. (and mind you i havent even seen sk8 content in ages)

but basically it was in kaoru's pov, them being childhood friends, and slowly falling in love as they grow up.

them playfully bantering as classmates, kojiro sitting kaoru on his shoulders to help him reach something (they must've been 12 at this time), the boyfriends always being together for anything they go to, kojiro saying he didn't do as well as kaoru on his exams so kaoru says "well then it looks like i'll be the one doing further study" and then kojiro grins up at him saying "then it looks like i'll be the one doing business. guess i'll get started now." (they literally act so married i cannot)

and then one day, these two are together again at a festival when kaoru (who was starting to become aware of his feelings for the other) decides to ask "you know, while i do enjoy accompanying you to all these things, don't you have any other partners you'd rather go with?"

kojiro absentmindedly responds with "what are you talking about babe?" which makes kaoru stop in his tracks and then kojiro at the late realization of what he just said, dropping whatever food he was holding. kojiro flounders trying to cover up but kaoru just smiles behind his fan and takes kojiros hand with the other, saying "alright, sorry i asked honey."

and then i got a random cut scene of kojiro and kaoru buying stuff for their new house and being caught in some robbery/disaster and kaoru who was pissed off decided to save the day (putting his hair up and a mask on like cherry blossom and using his skateboarding skills) and kojiro cheering him on like "whooo that's my husband right there everybody!!!"

i'm not kidding this all happened in a dream why can't awake!me ever come up with stuff like this 😭💔

I feel like the biggest difference with Adam and fans of the show is that there’s the profans/apologists, so those that apologise for him by attempting to rationalise his behaviour, and then there’s the antis/analysts who want him as a character to apologise for what he’s done whilst acknowledging that all of his wrongdoings are, as the word implies, wrong.

Old Edits Pt. 4

Sk8 the Infinity

i have to respect shaunajackie for having a truly, truly terrible breakup. but i'm an infinity train truther through and through so i have to argue our case:

1. grace and simon met at around 8-10 years old, when grace saved simon from a Creature and comforted him after his almost-mother-figure abandoned him. call that a meet-cute.

2. they were inseparable throughout their entire teenage years, and arguably shared their first kiss (it's in the storyboards).

3. they started and led a cult together-- grace was leader, and simon was her right-hand-man. then they meet a girl and her mother figure. grace's worldview is fractured as she begins to realize that their cult is actually Bad.

4. simon notices grace acting differently.

4a. he murders the girl's mother figure in cold blood, so that everything can "go back to normal".

5. things do not go back to normal. so simon invades grace's mind (literally), confronts and accuses her of lying to him, and then traps her in a nightmarish version of her own memories with no known way to escape. attempted homicide #1, via eternal damnation.

6. when grace wakes up, she returns to the place that they had built together, to find that simon had taken full control of their cult, and had invented a new slur SPECIFICALLY for HER. simon orders their his cult members to murder grace. attempted homicide #2, via abuse of power.

7. grace breaks free and confronts simon one-on-one. they have a physical fight (pictured). the Creature of simon's past trauma returns, and almost kills grace. simon laughs as he watches this happen, and tries to keep her in place so she can't escape. attempted homicide #3, as an accomplice.

8. she escapes, but simon nearly falls off the train, and grace saves him (again). simon asks her why, but she doesn't have an answer. so simon kicks her right off the (moving) titular Infinity Train. attempted homicide #4, just straight up.

9. grace survives. in simon's shock, he gets caught by the Creature and is killed by getting disintegrated into dust.

10. grace holds simon's dissipating ashes and cries.

so sure, shaunajackie may have codependency and cannibalism and psychological torment, but if i may ask:

whose bestieship was so exclusive that neither party had a single other person to turn to? whose bestieship led to the establishment of a cult (one that idolized destruction and killed so often that they had their own word for it) and the indoctrination of dozens of young children and teens? whose bestieship was so codependent that the slightest hint of change launched an epic, months-long downhill spiral?

whose breakup directly resulted in a murder of a third party? whose breakup resulted in one party being DUSTED to death, ripped apart by the molecule while screaming? whose breakup had a total count of 4 attempted homicides and 2 actual deaths? whose breakup resulted in the invention of a new slur and dismantlement of an entire belief system?

vote grace and simon, kings of trauma and codependency and delusion and betrayal and collateral impact. no one does a bestie breakup quite!! like!! them!!

i rest my case.

gojo had a dream you died.

it was partially the reason why he woke up in a cold sweat… it was horrid.

he could still hear your screams, the life leaving your eyes, but more importantly, he remembered your final words that were murmured to him. “satoru, don’t… cry, i’ll be okay, it’ll be okay.” and he believed you, that everything would be okay. despite tears filling his eyes, labeled the strongest at that moment, he couldn’t have ever felt so weak.

the dream felt so real, that was the scary part. he remembered each and every detail. from the feeling of you giving his wrist a light squeeze, the sweet smell of your natural scent.. the eerie sounds of your irregular wheezes as you were clinging on your final moments.

“don’t leave me,” he mutters, he remembers saying that. three simple words, yet his dilated pupils spoke a thousand. he started to repeat it. again and again as if it was a mantra. his words, his tone broke the more he spoke to you. that cute smile of yours never left your lips, it remained there. regardless of your inevitable incoming fate, he sobs, “you’re…you’re all i have left. i don’t wanna be left alone again, just stay. please, baby.”

“i’m not going anywhere, ‘toru,” you’d reassure him, a single tear drop of his falls onto your cheek.

after that moment, gojo wakes up. trembling, yet the dream wasn’t that feared him the most. it was him waking up with you not next to him..

cold, everything felt cold.

he shot up immediately from his dream. the cold sweat that forever continued to race down his back as he panted.

he was so used to your warmth taking up part of the bed. albeit, in this case though. it felt empty,

isolated.

it was near the middle of the night, gojo was drowsy, rubbing his eyes to blind his vision with imaginary stars. feeling for the bed, it was frigid.

“baby?” he’d grumble, white lashes partially open. silence called back to him, if it was anything about gojo, he hated being alone.

oh, he loathed it,

yet whenever you came into his life—he didn’t have to worry about that. you were always besides him, no matter what.

until now.

it takes him a split second before it dawns on him. your fatal death, it wasn’t another one of his silly surreal dreams. it was nothing but mere reality.

a breath gets caught in his throat once he realizes, being brought back into harsh realness. you were gone.

it’s been years, speaking of which…

it was your anniversary with him. the same exact day he proposed to you. he remembers it vividly, getting down on one knee with the goofiest grin. he didn’t even say, “will you marry me..?” instead, he snorts a sheepish, “let’s get married, heh.”

“i always forget around this time,” gojo sighs to himself with a soft tone, his voice was a bit raspy from abruptly waking up. intaking a sharp inhale, he goes towards your side of the bed and he reaches into his pocket.

“it should have been me,” and he doesn’t even care he’s talking to himself, it’s like for whatever reason, your presence was near him. “our marriage,” and then with a brief sniffle, he glances down at the ring you once wore proudly. he strokes it with a thumb before huffing out a shaky, “our marriage, it was supposed to last us for infinity…”

but it didn’t.

with hot tears streaming down his face and stuck a power he wished he’d never have, in the end, it couldn’t save you.

he couldn’t save you.

and now…

the strongest, the most brave to ever live and walk could easily be mistaken as the weakest.
