Hello friends, I am back with more reading recommendations for your agonies! Next up we have the long awaited and much requested Sad Boat Fiction list. As with all of my lists, this is NOT exhaustive and there WILL be great books left off, and also you may or may not like these books! I only rec things that I've personally enjoyed or that come highly recommended by trusted friends, but taste in books is incredibly subjective, especially with fiction. If I missed your favorite, please add it in the comments or drop it in my DMs!
Now that I'm feeling more settled in my new job, I will hopefully have a lot more time to make book lists and do more virtual Readers' Advisory. I have lists in the works for women in polar exploration and companion reads for the HBO War series, but if there's something else you would love to see, please send me a message!

AMERICAN GIRL (PART ONE)
Pairing: Tommy Shelby x Grace's Stepdaughter!Reader
Warning: Grace is a bully, infidelity, taboo
Tumblr media
On a brisk autumn day, you and your younger sibling Emma sailed into Liverpool harbor. You each carried a large, old-fashioned cart filled with towering brown suitcases, with a satchel casually slung over your shoulders.
The journey had left Emma exhausted, clinging to you as she marvelled at the unfamiliar sights of the port with wide eyes.
"I'm afraid," she confided in you, her words barely audible as they grazed your ear.
"I understand Em, but we have each other, and I will always look after you," you comforted her, putting on a smile. You promised to always take care of Emma, and true to your word, you have been her guardian angel since the day she arrived in this world.
Shortly after Emma was born, your mother sadly passed away due to unexpected complications during the pregnancy at her age.
It was a shock to everyone and left you to step into the roles of both mother and sister to Emma at the young age of 12.
Even in your youth, you held onto the hope that your father would one day find love again. Little did you expect that it would come in the form of Grace Burgess who was a young Irish woman with no money to her name after fleeing England in a haste. Grace had cleverly leveraged his wealth and power to her benefit despite their significant age difference.
Your father fell head over heels for her the moment he laid eyes on her at the corner grocery store in New York, just after your 13th birthday.
Their romance blossomed quickly, leading to marriage in less than a year.
At the tender age of seventeen, your father's love for her tragically transformed into heartbreak as she started a romantic relationship with a man from England - the very same man you were about to start living with.
Thomas Shelby was a name that sent shivers down the spine of those who knew of him - an enigmatic and formidable figure who held significant sway in the depths of England.
In the streets of Birmingham, he controlled his own illicit kingdom, bending the rules to his liking. And yet, your stepmother Grace couldn't help but be drawn to him, just as she had been to your father all those years ago when they first crossed paths.
Just before ending his life due to a broken heart, your wealthy father decided to cut ties with his second wife, leaving all his possessions to you and your sister for your 21st birthdays. This decision left Grace boiling with rage.
Soon after, she vanished to be with her lover in England and the two of you were forced to reside with a cruel family member instead as you had not yet turned 21, being the age of adulthood in America.
Within less than a year of living with this man however, you brought about his demise with a single bullet to the head, all because he dared to touch your sister Emma. It was in that moment that your entire world began to shift.
After a series of run-ins with the law leading to stints in juvenile detention, your father's lawyer came to the rescue, securing your freedom at the age of nineteen, albeit with the catch that you had to leave the country for good.
Of course, you gave your consent, but you were taken aback when it was revealed that your grandparents had struck a deal with Grace, out of all people, to care for you and Emma until you turned 21 and inherited half of your father's wealth.
What also came as a shock was the discovery that for the past two years, your family had been colluding with the Shelby Family, smuggling liquor into the United States without your knowledge and you knew that this must have been Grace's doing.
Grace had always been fascinated by the concept of wealth, much like your grandparents and uncle who shared her passion. Therefore, it didn't come as a shock to you when you recently stumbled upon the name 'Shelby Company Limited' in multiple transaction records within your grandfather's office.
While you understood the reasons behind everything relating to the business deals between your family and the Shelbys, the mystery still lingered as to why Grace decided to take you and Emma in after all the turmoil she had caused. After all, she had found herself entwined with a man of considerable wealth, so she had no need for the money that your family would have been willing to pay her for looking after you and your sister unless, of course, she was worried it wouldn’t last.
After two years had passed, this man still hadn't made her his wife, leaving you to ponder whether she harboured any doubts about his commitment to ever tying the knot.
Your stepmother may have been anxious about her partner abandoning her once the business arrangement in the US came to an end, a deal that she likely orchestrated and this, in itself, made you think that, perhaps, you would now finally have the upper hand.
As any young woman in your situation would, you nurtured a deep-seated anger towards Grace. She was the last person you wanted to rely on, let alone live with.
But you shoved those emotions down as you and Emma disembarked the large ship, weaving through the bustling crowd, ready for what lay ahead.
Just as instructed, outside the dock, you were greeted by a young man named Finn.
Finn, in his early twenties, extended his hand to take your luggage with a friendly smile as you approached.
"I am Finn, and you must be Y/N and Emma, right? Tommy has sent me to pick you up," he told you and Emma clung to you tightly, before peering at Finn suspiciously.
"Nice to meet you, Finn," you replied, offering a warm, polite smile.
Once your luggage was stored securely in the back of the Bentley, the three of you set off on the two-hour journey from Liverpool to Birmingham.
Emma's head rested on your shoulder as she slowly drifted off to sleep, her energy depleted from the journey, while Finn was attempting to make small talk with you while, occasionally, looking back through the rear-view mirror.
It was obvious to you that he had already taken a liking in you, but his youthful charm and charisma was not enough to sway you, not after everything that had happened in the past.
You acknowledged his attempts with brief responses, unable to fully engage in the conversation until he brought up the fact that you had killed a man.
"So, my brother mentioned that you had to leave New York because you killed someone. Is it true?" Finn questioned earnestly and without any filter whatsoever.
Your heart raced as you contemplated the best way to respond to his question.
"Yes, it's true," you finally admitted bluntly, looking straight ahead, not wanting to engage in a detailed conversation about it.
Finn, seemingly surprised by your response, paused before shifting the Bentley into a higher gear.
"Did you shoot him?" he asked, curiosity piqued.
You nodded, your jaw set.
Finn didn't press for more details, for which you were grateful. But you could sense his intrigue as he glanced at you through the rearview mirror.
Emma stirred in her sleep, mumbling softly, drawing your attention back to her peaceful face. You smoothed her unruly hair back, your heart swelling with protectiveness.
You would do anything to keep her safe. After all, you had already lost so much in your life already, so you could not lose her as well.
***
Eventually, the streets of Birmingham came into view, appearing as a striking contrast to the glamour and elegance of your hometown.
"Wow, this is different," you murmured to yourself, your gaze locked on the sprawling slums that lay outside the car window. There were workers fighting each other and whores selling themselves on the cobblestone streets, while children ran in all directions, many of them ragged and filthy.
"Don't worry. I am taking you somewhere nice," Finn assured you, seeing the look on your face and you could only hope that he was right, because if this was what Birmingham looked like everywhere, you wondered how you could possibly survive here for the next two years.
Despite Finn's enthusiasm, something about the place left you feeling uneasy, like a predator lurked in the shadows and you could see the appeal for criminals to operate here.
Before long, the Bentley turned into the private road of a luxurious home outside of Birmingham  .
The driveway was long, shielded by trees, and it wasn't until the last bend that you caught a glimpse of the mansion at the end.
The house was stunning, with intricately carved mahogany furnishings, rich velvet curtains framing large bay windows, and marble floors polished to a high sheen.
The structure exuded opulence while maintaining a cozy air with its plush décor.
Upon arrival, Finn hopped out of the driver's seat and opened the back door for you and Emma.
You carefully stepped out onto the cobblestone driveway, feeling the weight of this new world pressing down upon you. Emma rubbed her eyes and slowly emerged from her drowsy state, taking in the splendor of the ornate mansion with fascination and open admiration.
Finn led you through the imposing oak door, which creaked slightly as he pulled it open. As soon as you entered, you were met with a grand foyer adorned with chandeliers that cast an amber glow upon the walls.
"You made it," Grace 's stern voice eventually echoed off the marble tiles, causing you to turn around.
She stood there in a long-sleeved maroon blouse and black pencil skirt, her piercing blue eyes sizing you up like some sort of puzzle she couldn't wait to solve.
Emma, seemingly intimidated by her appearance, slowly retreated behind you as Grace approached with determination.
"You look well, given the circumstances," she then said to you, her voice laced with a noticeable hint of sarcasm, causing you to roll your eyes.
"I was hoping not to see you again, but here we are," you murmured under your breath, drawing Grace's ire as she narrowed her bright blue eyes infinitesimally.
"You should be grateful that I took you in," she snarled sharply, causing you to chuckle.
"How much are my grandparents paying you to have us?" you said, unflinching, watching Grace's face for a reaction.
Grace's expression barely changed, merely raising an eyebrow as if amused before replying scathingly, "Nothing. At least not until you make it to 21, so you better behave," she warned.
You took a deep breath, realizing that this was not the time to engage in a war of words with your stepmother. You turned to Emma and noticed that she was trembling slightly and you could see the worry etched into her delicate features. You slipped your arm around her shoulders, pulling her close and offering what you hoped was a reassuring smile.
"Let's get you settled in," you said softly to Emma, who managed a weak nod in response as Grace turned and led the way down the grand hallway.
"The maids will show you to your rooms. You will be staying in the staffing quarters,"  Grace snapped as she pivoted and strode through an arched doorway, leaving you and Emma with two young women wearing crisp white aprons who appeared in your line of vision.
You watched silently as Grace disappeared before you turned to Emma, smiling despite the tension thickening in the air, and whispered gently, "She can't hurt us, Em. She needs us. So just ignore her."
Emma nodded slowly, but it was clear that she wasn't entirely convinced.
You couldn't blame her - the past few years had been nothing but a series of harsh lessons for both of you, leaving you both vulnerable and wary. But deep down, you knew that things would be different here. This was a new beginning for the two of you, away from the cold-hearted family members who had mistreated you, and into the care of someone who, while intimidating and unpredictable, was bound to follow your father's final wishes for financial reasons.
You were determined to make the best of this opportunity, no matter how difficult that might be considering your complicated history with Grace and, with that in mind, you unpacked your suitcases and settled in.
The rooms were modest but comfortable, with the staff quarters being clean and well looked after, much to your surprise.
Soon enough, your first day in Birmingham was drawing to a close and after you put Emma to bed, you decided to have a warm bath before venturing out to explore this somewhat opulent mansion.
You put on the satin robe which once belonged to your mother and strolled towards the grand staircase with bare feet, looking at all of the incredible paintings that lined the walls, showcasing various landscapes and portraits of people whose names you did not yet know.
As you reached the second floor, you came across a door which seemed slightly ajar and upon pushing it open, you discovered a library.
Your eyes widened at the sight of thousands of books neatly arranged on wooden bookshelves that stretched from floor to ceiling before, in the room next to it, finding a large piano.
You walked over to the piano and gently touched its surface, marveling at the intricate carvings before looking back at the books surrounding you.
The library was quiet, save for the occasional creak of the old wooden floorboards settling. You moved further into the room, running your fingers along the spines of various titles.
There were novels from authors you recognized like Charles Dickens, Jane Austen and the Bronte sisters but there was also an array of non-fiction texts ranging from science, philosophy to mathematics and history.
There was also a section dedicated to poetry where you spotted a few works by Lord Byron, Samuel Taylor Coleridge and William Wordsworth which intrigued you.
Despite the vast quantities of books in this room, the smell of old leather-bound volumes filled the air as if it was just yesterday when they were placed on these mahogany shelves.
Just as you were about to pick up a book of poetry, the door creaked open, and you heard a dark voice behind you.
"It's quite sad, really," the man said, his tone heavy with contempt. "The book, I mean," he clarified as you turned around, meeting the stranger's gaze.
"I am Thomas Shelby and you must be Y/N,"  he introduced himself, approaching you with a confident stride.
Your eyes widened as you took in the sight of the man who stood before you. He was handsome, there was no denying that, but it wasn't just his chiseled features or his magnetic blue eyes that caught your attention. No, it was the air of danger that surrounded him, like a cloud that warned others not to get too close.
You composed yourself, extending your hand towards him. "Yes, I am Y/N. It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr Shelby," you greeted him with a polite smile, determined to maintain your composure.
"Please, call me Tommy, eh,"  Thomas replied, his cockney accent more pronounced than you'd expected.
He took your offered hand, giving it a firm shake before letting go and stepping back to study you with his intense gaze which lingered a little longer on your bare legs than it probably should.
"Thank you for letting me and my sister stay here, with you," you said almost professionally , breaking the silence. You had to admit, Thomas was an intimidating man but you held your ground without flinching under his scrutiny.
"Well, it wasn't my choice," he chuckled. "Grace practically begged me and I find it rather difficult to say no to her these days,"  he admitted, his tone softening.
You couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at his candidness. "Well, my stepmother can be persuasive, I give her that," you told him while putting the book back into the shelf.
"You could say that," he replied, offering little insight into their relationship. "Do you drink?" Thomas asked in a manner so casual that the question caught you off guard, but your curiosity was sparked, and you wanted to know more about him. Despite his intimidating presence, he struck you as an intriguing puzzle you couldn't wait to solve.
"I wouldn't say no," you responded with a slight tilt of your head, smiling coyly.
Thomas chuckled at your response before turning around to pour two glasses of whiskey from a crystal decanter on the leather-topped table nearby. With an elegant grace, he handed one to you.
You took it with a slight nod, allowing your fingers to graze his before taking hold of the glass. The warmth spread from your fingertips and up your arm, causing a pleasant shiver to run down your spine.
"There you go, now you can keep me some company," Tommy said with a sly grin as he took a sip of his whiskey and sat down.
"Why don't you get Grace to keep you company?" you asked as you followed suit, feeling the alcohol burn your throat and spread through your body, warming you from the inside out.
"Because, by now, I would assume that she is sound asleep," Thomas replied, chuckling wryly.
"Well, it is midnight already, which brings me to the question of why you are still up," you asked, raising an eyebrow at him.
"Because I can't fucking sleep, Love," he replied in a tone of voice that made your heart race, "there is always business on my mind, day and night."
You stared at him for a moment, contemplating whether or not to ask more about his life. After all, you had heard stories about Thomas Shelby and his criminal empire.
"Well, the booze doesn't export itself to New York now, does it?"  you replied, a small smirk playing on your lips.
Thomas chuckled at your response, finding amusement in your wit. He appreciated a challenge - it was something he hadn't encountered in a while. Grace had always been so timid around him, obedient almost. But you, on the other hand, didn't cower in the face of his daunting presence.
"So you know what I do, eh?" Thomas agreed, swirling the whiskey in his glass. "Did Grace tell you?" Thomas questioned, a slight glint in his eyes as he studied you intently. His gaze was unwavering, and you couldn't help but feel a sense of discomfort at his scrutiny. However, you refused to let him intimidate you, meeting his gaze head-on.
"Oh god no. My stepmother would not discuss matters like this, not with me anyway. She very much dislikes me," you told Tommy as he lid himself a cigarette, his gaze never wavering. "But I know more about my family's business interests than one might think," you admitted, reluctant to speak ill of Grace.
Tommy's lips quirked upwards before he exhaled a cloud of smoke. "That doesn't surprise me, Love. A little birdie has told me that you had some run ins with the law recently, which is why you are here now, in fucking Birmingham of all places,"  Thomas said, his tone laced with an underlying hint of mischief.
He leaned back against the leather armchair, his eyes never leaving yours as he took a long drag from his cigarette.
"Well, it's safe to say that I had made some mistakes in the past," you admitted, holding his gaze firmly. "But I had my reasons for doing what I did," you explained, and  Thomas chuckled at your response, finding your confidence endearing. He had always admired a strong-willed woman - and you were undoubtedly that.
"We all have our reasons, Love,"  Tommy agreed, his tone softening.
You took another sip of your whiskey, the fire in your throat becoming increasingly comforting, and you let out a sigh. The truth was that you had always been impulsive, driven by emotion rather than reason.
You took a moment to gather your thoughts before speaking. "I suppose you're right," you admitted, swirling the amber liquid around your glass before raising from your seat.
"It's getting late and I should probably get some sleep," you said before thanking Tommy for the drink.
Your gaze lingered on him for a moment, studying his features as he did the same with you. There was a spark of curiosity between the two of you, but you quickly tried to push your intrusive thoughts away.
"Good night, Y/N,"  Thomas murmured, his gaze dropping to your lips for a fleeting moment before you turned around and walked towards the door, hiding your body's reaction to his intense gaze.
"Goodnight," you replied softly, taking one last look at the library before stepping out and closing the door behind you.
You couldn't shake off the feeling of uneasiness that clung to you like a second skin. You shook your head slightly as if to clear the thoughts away, telling yourself that you were only imagining things.
But the way he had looked at you, the slight hint of something deeply sensual in his gaze, lingered and left you with a curious sensation.
You made your way to your guest room, undressing slowly before slipping between the smooth sheets. Emma was already fast asleep, her gentle snores barely audible as you switched off the bedside lamp. The room plunged into darkness, leaving only the faintest gleam of moonlight to cut through the curtains and cast thin stripes of silver upon the walls.
You stared up at the ceiling, the alcohol swimming lazily in your veins and causing your thoughts to swirl with unclear notions.
As much as you tried to fight against the growing allure, Thomas Shelby had intrigued you. There was no denying it. He possessed an air of mystery and darkness that called out to that impulsive part of you like a siren's song which was a part of you which you knew you had to suppress.

Summaries for Current Kinktober Lineup
🎃🤍🔥🎃🤍🔥🎃🤍🔥🎃🤍🔥🎃🤍🔥🎃🤍
Tumblr media
🔥🤍🎃🔥🤍🎃🔥🤍🎃🔥🤍🎃🔥🤍🎃🔥🤍
🔥 Completion of Every Inch of You — Tommy finally acts on his long-time desire for Y/N, completely surprising her and showing her that not only can the right man make sex amazing, but that a real man not only admires a woman’s curves, but thoroughly enjoys them.
🎃 Cillian Murphy x Reader — Cillian is all for charity, but not for the pointless soirées that go with it. But when the charity he’s most tied to throws a gala, he’s expected to be there. Ordinarily, he finds any theme or gimmick incredibly stupid, but this particular event’s masquerade theme means at least he can disappear among the other attendees and not be hounded. When he meets an elegant, beautiful stranger with an adventurous side, he seizes the opportunity to finally enjoy one of these events.
🤍 Jonathan Crane x Reader — Y/N has been Jonathan Crane’s research assistant for a year now, and despite his extremely stoic and clinical demeanor, she has a hopeless crush on him. But she also wants badly to impress him, and she’s constantly striving to be the ideal assistant. Little does she know that Jonathan has spent the last year carefully assessing and analyzing her, not only because he’s secretly wanted her all along, but also to learn her desires and the ins and outs of exactly how to make her fall apart for him.
🔥 Jackson Rippner x Reader — Even the bad guys have to eat, right? And the local diner is where Jackson goes for a bite at least twice a week. Of course, the beautiful yet feisty waitress who always ends up being stuck serving him has nothing to do with his frequenting there, right? Fed up with Jackson’s sexist, arrogant attitude and asshole remarks, Y/N always tries to get him out of her diner as fast as possible, despite the fact that he’s the sexiest man she’s ever laid eyes on. This toxic back and forth comes to a head when Y/N finally pushes Jackson a little too far, and he has to teach her a lesson and show her just how much of a mistake it is to test him.
🎃 Tom Buckley x Reader — How can such an insanely hot man seem to have no personality and no interests in anything other than his work? That’s the question Y/N wonders on a daily basis about Tom Buckley, her professor’s TA and colleague. But when Dr. Matheson recruits Y/N to help with a new project due to her incredibly impressive performance in class, she and Tom are suddenly spending a lot of time together outside of class. Is there more to Tom than Y/N thought? Maybe there’s a personality behind those gorgeous blue eyes after all, and perhaps Tom’s prior behavior was simply how he’s kept himself in check, and not because he hasn’t noticed this star student.
🤍 Cillian Murphy x Reader — The theater has a different energy all its own, which is why Cillian is so passionate about it, always returning when the opportunity presents itself. With the latest invitation to perform as the lead actor in a new show filled with heavy drama and romance, the actor is surprised to learn that his female co-star is very fresh, not expecting a new actress to be able to take on such weight. But besides being unbelievably impressed with her sophistication and acting abilities, Cillian also can’t stop wishing that every romantic scene between them was happening in real life. But since Y/N has followed and admired Cillian for years as she made her own way in the acting world, the fondness is definitely mutual. Not to mention the fact that she nearly melts every time he touches her. Upon the wrap of closing night, will restraint and professionalism finally give way to desire and passion?
🔥 Modern Tommy Shelby x Reader — Tommy always calls the shots; it’s the only way he knows how to operate, and that includes in the bedroom. But outside the bedroom, Y/N needs to remember that Tommy still controls her. After several busy weeks with no sex between them due to crazy schedules and commitments, Tommy decides that tonight, the foreplay is going to begin before they even make it back home. Due to her recent slip in attitude and getting sassy with Tommy, Y/N is going to quickly be reminded that she’s completely at Tommy’s mercy (or lack thereof), and he has an intimate little gift for her to remind her of just that fact.
🎃 Jonathan Crane x Reader — If there’s anything Dr. Jonathan Crane despises, it’s a whiny patient. Yes, we all have problems, trauma, and fears, but rather than complain, he believes the best treatment is addressing those fears and facing them head on. So when he has yet another draining session with Y/N, his beautiful yet whiny therapy patient, he decides that the best way to finally make progress and address her fear of pregnancy and childbirth is to do some very personal exposure therapy.
🤍 Tommy Shelby x Reader — Lingerie mood boards and Tommy head canon on exactly what seeing you in lingerie does to him, and how he responds.
🔥 Jonathan Crane x Reader — Drs. Jonathan Crane and Y/F/N Y/L/N have been colleagues for over a year now, and it’s very much a love/hate relationship. Although title-wise, they’re equals, Jonathan seems to always think he’s in charge, and he enjoys bossing Y/N around. Fed up with his attitude during their latest collaboration, Y/N decides to teach Jonathan a lesson. When he instructs her to see how patients react to a new drug, she slips it to him instead, and a shift in control occurs that Jonathan was not expecting.
🎃 Modern Tommy Shelby — It’s a particularly busy time at work for Tommy lately, and much to both he and Y/N’s dislike, he hasn’t been home much, let alone had time for any intimacy. Seeing as they typically never go more than a day without sex, Y/N is feeling very deprived for her man. When he yet again isn’t home when he promises he would be, Y/N decides that a little distraction for Tommy is needed. But she’s thrown for a loop when Tommy’s attention doesn’t stray from his work and his tolerance for cockwarming lasts much longer than she anticipated. What is she gonna do now?
🤍 Modern Tommy Shelby — If Tommy could have you walking around topless 24/7 for him, he would. Of course, he adores ALL of you, but your breasts are a distracting favorite of his. When you meet him at a fancy event being held for some of his work colleagues, he’s thrown to see you wearing a dress that shows more of your chest than he wants any other man to see. How dare you put on display his two favorite features of yours that are meant to be for his eyes only?

I cross my heart and hope to die
Lovin' me is complicated
Too afraid of a lot of changes
I'm alright and you're a favorite

The dust had finally settled.
Terry sat in a Shelby Springs coffee shop and mulled over the whirlwind two years he'd lived through. His high-profile case against the Shelby Springs Police Department ended in his favor. The case didn't drag out for years, probably because the video proof of misconduct was irrefutable. The combination of systemic corruption, civil rights violations, departmental liability, and lack of community trust in the leadership helped the jury make a quick decision. Summer and Marston's testimony did significant damage, but it was Jess Sims' presence that rattled him. Whatever ambivalence he felt about her part in knowing what that corrupt police department was doing, Jess's community rallied behind her. They set up online support to encourage people to donate money for her lawyer's defense fund and to help support her financially while temporarily suspended without pay. There were online testimonials from citizens vouching for her character. Even former criminals who had run-ins with the police posted TikTok clips of how Jess checked up on them to make sure they stayed on the straight and narrow after interactions with her as their arresting officer.
"Officer Sims didn't play. She talked to me like one of my aunties and that made me feel real bad, y'know, like I let down somebody in my family for being a fuckup. Sims told me to get my shit together. She even went to my grandmama's house to see if I signed up for night school like I said I would. My grandmama and my mama didn't even know how bad I was doing. I was pissed at first, cuz I felt like she needed to mind her business. Feel me? But yeah…I got my G.E.D. and I'm working a steady gig now. When I seen all that bullshit go down with homeboy and his cousin…I believed them cops did that shit. But I wouldn't yoke her up with them other fuckers. Ain't no good cops really outchea, but she made me think there might be some tryin' to do right by people."
The comments to that particular TikTok blew up and people argued among themselves about Jess's choice to be a cop, knowing that one Black woman among a squad of white boys didn't make her appear capable of fighting systemic racism. She was called everything from a white man's bedwench for knocking niggas around to the best type of law enforcement needed…someone connected to her community who put their needs first by protecting them from the white cops.
None of her community accolades or dedication to the force appeased other cops who painted her as a traitor to the blue line. She withstood online hate and ferocious public scrutiny. That had to be tough on her. Meanwhile, the public framed Terry and his cousin as victims of police brutality. His Aunt Rosa received nearly one million in GoFundMe donations. It covered burial expenses and the cost of a heavy-hitter lawyer to take on their wrongful death suit against the prison that was negligent in protecting Mike. The lawsuit would take some time, but all the media attention shed light on the case. He hoped his aunt would get swift justice.
As for Terry, he received a multi-million dollar settlement.
He cried when the judgment was read to him out loud in court. His lawyer cried with him because it meant that the world knew he was innocent and the cops were indeed callous bastards. No legal analyst expected the police department to appeal. Chief Sandy Burnne acted belligerent on the stand and justified his actions as a way to keep the town afloat because of budget constraints. He clammed up when Terry's lawyer brought up his previous wrongful death suit as the true cause of the department's financial crisis. He would more than likely die in prison with the long stretch he faced in the criminal case against him. The suicide of the corrupt Judge Logston who helped hide the truth nailed it shut in many minds. Why take yourself out if you're innocent?
The departments's insurance would pay it quickly and quietly. The city council of Shelby Springs wanted their town's name and tarnished reputation out of the media.
The judge approved the settlement, and the case was officially closed after eighteen months.
Sitting in the coffee shop stirring sugar into his espresso, the idea of being a wealthy man didn't faze him. Getting the truth out mattered most. It didn't surprise him that others who went through the terror tactics of the cops didn't come forward or even want to join a class action lawsuit. They had to live in that town or near it among family members of the cops that crossed several parishes. The trauma ran deep for some, and they wanted to forget about the money or assets stolen from them. Terry had nothing to lose. No wife or kids. No steady girlfriend. No job. No fear. He was a lone wolf with nothing but time on his hands to go up against a beast of a system.
Still, he couldn't keep Jess Sims taking the stand out of his mind. She wore a simple beige top with a tan blazer and brown slacks. She had puffed out her hair in a halo of fluffy curls, pulled back by a hair clip on one side. The light make-up on her face showed him what a stunner she was out of uniform. When his lawyer made a little joke to help Jess relax, he noticed she had a dimple in her right cheek when she smiled. Their eyes met briefly before she was grilled about her role in the case.
Certain things were made clear. Chief Burnne kept Jess in the office for the majority of her work shifts. Misdemeanor cases were in abundance in Shelby Springs, and most people didn't question it because of the war on drugs and whatever made-up war they used to explain away why so many victims were called by their incarcerated loved ones to bring large sums of purposely inflated bail money in cash. Officer Lann and Officer Marston, along with two other officers Burnne used, were the primary culprits who arrested people. Judge Logston notified the police chief when a new bundle of cash was expected to come through in an attempt to bail out a loved one.
Burnne knew Jess was a straight-shooter and good at computers, so he kept her mainly indoors for the past two years as their department struggled with budget cuts. She also cared for her ailing grandfather at home, so her schedule remained fixed to gift her flexibility to run home for emergencies when the day nurse she paid for had issues. Each date that his lawyer brought up pertaining to a civil asset seizure, she could show in her personal daily planner that she worked in the office that day. Her patrol days were usually on Saturdays when her sister-in-law stayed with her grandfather.
Terry watched the dawning realization on Jess's face as she understood how Burnne had manipulated her and kept her away from a lot of actions she would most likely object to. The chief stayed considerate of her home situation only because it was the best way to keep her and a few other goody-two shoes cops in the dark as much as possible.
In the beginning of her testimony, Jess answered confidently and spoke highly of her former boss in terms of how he treated her. Burnne played on her need to clean up the streets and indoctrinated her with the mindset that they were under siege by nefarious cartels and drug dealers. No one could be trusted. Their actual legitimate drug busts cemented in Jess's mind that Burnne knew what was best, and she moved his way. Terry's lawyer baited her into speaking of her moral compass and pushed her to explain why she had held a gun on Terry when he thought she was Serpico.
"Until that point, I had no cause to believe that Chief Burnne acted unlawfully," Jess said.
His lawyer, a white man with the mind of a steel trap, stared at her hard before speaking again.
"Terry Richmond, who had done nothing but de-escalate every situation he faced with your fellow officers…you included…he hands you SD cards and asks you to broadcast them for the world to see after he thinks he'll be arrested or killed by your department… and that doesn't give you pause Miss Sims that maybe something is rotten in Denmark…or even a little fishy?"
Jess glanced at him, and he tried to give her an encouraging look to tell her truth. Her eyes watered.
"I wasn't sure what to believe. Things were happening so fast and I didn't want him to hurt the Chief or me."
"Miss Sims, you told us earlier that Mr. Richmond remained calm at all times, always explaining what he was going to do, and even conveyed to you that he wanted to avoid gunfire and violence. Why didn't you at least stop to look at the footage?"
Jess held her head high and kept her tears from falling.
"I wanted to trust Chief Burnne—"
"But you just stated that you weren't sure what to believe."
"That's because I didn't want to make a mistake and get my fellow officers or Mr. Richmond killed because of doubt. I kept thinking things could be sorted out later, as long as no one got hurt."
"That's the thinking of a good cop. We know you're good, Miss Sims, because we saw video of you stopping Officer McGill from shooting Mr. Richmond in cold blood. Mr. Richmond also testified that he thanked you for protecting him from men who wanted to… and I quote, "string me up". You also stopped Chief Sandy Burnne from obstructing justice by pushing him off the road and arresting him. The problem I'm having, though, is why you waited so long to stop Burnne once he shot Officer Marston…"
Jess's voice sounded unsure later in her testimony. It appeared that she questioned her own actions as she recalled them. She gave the impression that she was willing to support bad actors and questionable conduct as long as the end result she wanted came about. To Terry, she sounded no different from the Black soldiers he worked with in the marines who were gungho about fighting bad guys overseas, even if a few innocent civilians in other countries got crushed. Collateral damage.
Terry sipped his drink and contemplated the busy street outside. Such a sleepy-looking town. The type of place people put on postcards. A white woman strolled past, walking a small black and white dog with a young girl. She double-backed a few seconds later with her mouth held open. He grinned and gulped down the last of his espresso before leaving the coffee shop and joining the woman outside.
"Terry Richmond…I swear as I live and breathe!"
Summer McBride hugged Terry, and he lifted her up, returning the affection.
"You look amazing," she gushed.
"You look good too."
"Oh, please," she said.
She ran a hand over her thin blond hair that was about two inches longer than the last time he saw her.
"This is my daughter Annie…Annie this is Mr. Richmond, the man who saved me."
Summer's daughter had her mother's lanky blonde hair and a thin build. She looked to be about nine years old.
"Hi Annie," he said.
Annie acted shy and stayed close to her mother as she held the leash of the passive dog.
"Hi," Annie said.
"When did you get here…and why did you come back?" Summer said.
"Got here last night, and I came to check on some people in person. You and your daughter…and someone else."
"Marston?"
"No…Jess Sims."
Summer stared at him for a long time.
"Why Jess?"
Tumblr media
Terry crouched down to play with Summer's dog. The puppy willingly went to him, and he glanced across the street, keeping an eye out for Jess. A Black café owner on the corner informed him earlier, after he ate an early breakfast, that Jess and her friends often had brunch there every Wednesday at one. He hung around the coffee shop to do some reconnaissance, looking for her. He tried contacting her through his lawyer, but she changed her phone number. His plan was to see her…try to talk to her. He had a burning desire to sort his feelings about everything with her. After the court case, he was compelled to let her know that he was never going to hold hard feelings against her. The vitriol she received from the outside world was enough. He needed her to know that he wanted her to keep living without guilt. All the others could go to hell, especially Marston, who started the whole ball running by ramming his cruiser into him.
But Jess?
He wanted her to have grace. The look of regret and shame on her face at Mike's repast made it possible for him to forgive her part in the whole affair. It was brave for her to show up at his aunt's house, knowing she'd be the target of scorn and the rage of a family who shouldn't be mourning Mike.
When he glimpsed her face back in Greenwood, he couldn't believe it. He almost didn't recognize her. She'd stayed on his mind for days. His cousin flipped the fuck out on her, and Terry chased Jess down the street. She looked so vulnerable and broken. Scared. He wanted to hug her, even though his cousin had every right to curse her out. That was her baby brother shanked to death. Her only brother.
He looked up at Summer. Why Jess?
"I need closure with her. She saved me two times…three, actually. Saved you."
"She was only saving her ass."
"Like your friend, Marston?"
Summer looked away. Her body language and tone told him more than she realized. She and Jess had history of some kind.
"You know her?"
"Yeah. We were friends at one time."
"What happened?"
"That's personal."
"I have a lot of time available to listen."
"Over dinner?"
He grinned. Summer gave him a coy smile. He sensed some flirtation, but he wouldn't feed it. She was strictly for the friend zone.
"Pick the restaurant. My treat," he said.
"No, my treat at my place. It might be better if we aren't seen eating out together since…you know…the case has been settled. I make a mean casserole and I can fill you in on my case against Officer Lann."
"When?"
"Let's do tomorrow night. Annie goes back to her dad's and we can have some privacy. My number is the same."
"Okay. Sounds like a plan."
Terry noticed a Dodge Durango pull into a parking spot across the street. Seven Black women piled out and Jess was the last to exit from the driver's side. He inhaled through his mouth quickly, seeing her with her people. She smiled and checked her cell phone, pulling out a pair of glasses. Her black and silver off-the-shoulder halter top accentuated all that she had up front and her short jean skirt gave him an eyeful of big legs and thick thighs. The heels of her black open-toe half boots helped stream-line her profile. She was all huggable curves and wide hips. Big hoop earrings dangled to her shoulders and her laughter drifted across the street, making music in his ears. Goddamn. Nothing made Terry weaker than a short, big-breasted woman who wore glasses.
Tumblr media
"Well, there she is," Summer grumbled.
Her voice sounded irritated. She took the leash from Annie.
"See you tomorrow night," Summer said.
Jess glanced their way and froze.
"Good luck," Summer said, walking off with her daughter and dog.
Terry looked over at Jess again. Her party of women entered the café laughing and talking loud, but she stood near her car with a concerned expression. He smoothed his blue sweater down to make sure he was presentable and crossed the street after a car rolled past.
"I've been trying to contact you. You changed your number," he said.
Terry tried to sound upbeat to help ease her apprehension.
"Changed it a year ago," she said in a crisp and cautious tone.
Jess's central Louisiana accent had him feeling bashful in front of her. Things were so different when she wasn't in uniform. This was a bona fide southern baddie in front of him. He didn't want to lose all his cool in front of her, however, it would've been so easy to take one step and place a hand on her car's roof, hem her up against the driver's door and talk that talk to her like he was trying to pull her in his orbit. She had to be feeling him because her eyes dropped to his chest, admiring the wide expanse of it.
"I see you're about to have a meal with your people, so I won't take up too much of your time…I just needed to see you, Jess. Can we meet up for another time to talk openly?"
"I don't know why you'd want to. Last time you saw me, I caused a scene at your cousin's house."
"That was a tough day, and my entire family stayed on edge. I'm sorry about your passenger window. Can I take you out to eat later in the week? Friday maybe? Or we could take a long drive into the country, get away for a chance to connect…talk?"
"I have a church function on Friday."
"Saturday."
"Busy. Terry, I don't feel comfortable—"
"Okay, okay. Thank you for helping me. Thank you for keeping me alive."
Jess chewed her lip, and her left leg shook. She averted his direct gaze, and he so wanted to hug her and tell her everything would be fine. But he didn't know that for sure, at least not for her. He dug for his wallet in his back pocket and pulled out a card from the motel he stayed at.
"I'm in room 5B. Please call if you change your mind. I'm going to stay here for a few more days. If I don't hear from you, I'm going to leave town."
"You should leave now. There's nothing for you here except a horrible memory."
Jess started wiping at her eyes as tiny teardrops fell down her plump cheeks. He moved in close and hugged her, letting her nervous trembles get absorbed by his warm strength.
"I'm not here to upset you or make you feel bad, Jess…I care about what's going on in your life. We both went through something traumatic that changed us. I know you're having a hard time here."
She wept onto the top of his chest. He rubbed her back to soothe her. The way she rested against his solid frame felt right.
"Jess? Everything okay?"
One of her girlfriends stepped out from the café, looking for her. Terry didn't want to stop holding Jess. All that softness molded against his hard muscles reminded him of how long he'd been without the regular comforts of a woman. He'd had a few hook-ups throughout the trial, but none of the women he spent intimate time with felt like the woman in his arms. Her lushness and the way she clung to him aroused a yearning to be alone with her. But only when she was ready.
He stepped away from her and stroked her shoulders.
"I won't pressure you. If you don't call me, I'll understand why and won't bother you again."
She nodded and walked away from him quickly. Her friend, another heavyset woman with long straight hair, threw an arm around Jess's shoulder and escorted her inside the café.
That didn't go so well.
Terry took a long walk around the town square to clear his head. He didn't want to make her cry, although he knew in his heart that speaking with her could turn emotional. Now that he'd approached her, he wasn't so sure if talking with her would do either of them any good. He was already feeling the heaviness in his chest from listening to her sob. Did she think he just wanted to punish her with his words? Give her a verbal tongue lashing to rid himself of the burden of Mike's death? Lay it at her feet so she would suffer for as long as his family did?
Truthfully, he didn't know what to do. He'd been languishing in a holding pattern for two years since Mike's murder. The lump sum of his multi-million dollar payout gave him financial freedom to go anywhere. All he did was buy a brand new silver-blue Dodge Ram truck with a pop-up camper and drove straight to Shelby Springs to find Jess. The previous night, he slept out in the woods inside his pop-up to test it out. Roomy, comfortable, and perfect for his needs as an outdoorsman, Terry later sought a motel and bided his time, waiting for her to show up by lingering inside the coffee shop.
Now he found himself lost again.
He returned to the coffee shop after an hour and ordered a turkey club sandwich with tomato basil soup. Jess emerged from the café with her friends, looking subdued. He sat back in the cut and watched her drive away, thinking about her softness.
Returning to the motel, he tried to turn in early after watching a few movies. He tossed and turned all night, dreaming about Jess. Before dawn broke, he woke up with a throbbing erection. He twisted his legs around the cheap, thin motel sheets. Their friction against his dick might have influenced the vivid dream he snapped awake from. There was nothing inherently erotic about it at first, just a replaying of hugging Jess and rocking her in his arms. But then she dropped to her knees, right there next to her car, and unfastened his pants, fishing out the thick dick that her cute hands couldn't get to fast enough. The rich brown heaviness pulsed in her hand. He was a big man everywhere, and his erection was not meant for those who couldn't handle a big penis. Terry was so ready to nut all in her pretty mouth. Jess teased the fat mushroom cap and thick frenulum ridge with a nasty pink tongue that knew how to please him. He reached down to palm one of her breasts and her top just fell down to her waist, like the magic of dreams often did. Her big titties made him groan, especially the large reddish-brown areolas with stiff nipples ready to be pinched and played with.
Jesus! He was ready to bust.
She started shaking them fat titties, letting them smack against each other, letting him hear how loud they'd sound smacking above his face if he fucked her good and hard.
"Baby, you can put your mouth on that dick. Lemme see how far I can get it down your throat before you choke…"
His deep voice sounded demanding and direct. She lifted those big melons and jiggled them for him, her lips pulled back into a smile showing him that one dimple in her cheek.
That's when he woke up, sweating and cursing, because that shit wasn't really happening.
Terry untangled his legs from the sheets and fisted his dick, pumping his hand up and down from the root to the ridge, squeezing the heft. His pre-cum spilled out in a deluge and he groaned Jess's name. He envisioned her voluptuous breasts, wishing they were in his hands, and came so forcefully that his balls pulsed in a rhythm with the thick white streams he shot across the bed.
"Fuck…fuck…oh…fuck!"
He kept working his hand up and down, pretending she rode his dick, clapping the cheeks of her fat ass on his muscular thighs. A final release of cum signaled the end phase of his intense climax. No orgasm ever felt like that before, just from a dream.
Terry moaned and gasped for air. The room looked blurry because his eyes watered from the pleasure, sweating fluid like the rest of his skin and his content dick.
He squeezed his eyes shut and knew something for certain while being in Shelby Springs: either he'd end up fucking Jess Sims, or he'd make her cry again. Maybe even both… at the same damn time.
Part 3 soon come...

End of August 1926
Thomas wanted the wedding to be perfect, the dress, the ceremony and the dinner afterwards. The latter was of course a business move and the invited people where carefully chosen.
After the engagement party the contact between Mr. Shelby and his fiancé was rare because he was occupied with business. But he did make it a pattern of visiting her every Sunday. They went riding, to a Derby, to London to visit his sister Ada and he usually took her to any public event he was attending. On the outside he wanted them to look like they’re very happy and in love with each other. Thomas made clear how he wanted his future wife to behave and any time a border was crossed, Y/N soon deeply regretted it because he had a dark side. And this side Y/N was really scared of. His eyes would turn black and he would usually push her into a wall, his hand around her delicate neck, threatening to do bad things to her or even worse her parents. Otherwise he never laid a hand on her and he deeply enjoyed seeing her scared. Thomas also really liked her apologies: On her knees with an open mouth, looking up at him through her lashes, his hands in her hair.
Y/N was a quick learner. She soon realized that Thomas’ temper was uncontrollable and unpredictable because it would change within seconds. Anyways she was on his arm, always smiled nicely and only spoke when being talked to. She also never had the guts to confront him about his behavior but really hoped it would change, as soon as they got married and he let some feelings in.
Leading up to the event which he sat the date for on the 25th of August, they spent less time together which Y/N wasn’t all to sad about. Thomas did come by to give her the engagement ring, a small golden band with pearl on top made to be followed up by a wedding ring. He also sent her flowers every week.
On the other hand she got to spend some time with his sister Ada and his aunt Polly. Y/N also came to the betting shop to meet the rest of his family for a so-called family meeting: Thomas’ brother Arthur was there with his wife Linda, Ada and Polly were there, as well as her son Michael Gray, Thomas’ younger brother Finn, his uncle Charlie and Curly, who Y/N really liked, as well as Jeremiah and his son Isaiah, Johnny Dogs and Thomas’ secretary Lizzie, who didn’t seem to like Y/N very much.
Thomas led her into his office afterwards, taking her hand ins his and pressing a kiss to her temple which confused Y/N. Confusion was the state of mind she was in the most: Thomas could be very sweet on one hand and extremely gruesome on the other. He offered her a seat and a whiskey, which she gladly accepted while he took out his cigarette case, taking one out and putting it between his lips in Thomas Shelby manner, pushing it around and then settling it on the left side of his face. The conversation was short but Thomas only explained some small details to her and then told her the date he set for the wedding. He afterwards followed her out of his office and to his car, his arm around her waist. The couple went out for afternoon tea and Thomas drove her home with his new Bentley afterwards.
Y/N and Ada went to the tailor together, to get the dress that Thomas had picked out for the wedding fitted. Ada gasped when she saw it because it was simply beautiful. A slim white dress with a longer train and lace detailing all around the neckline and the short sleeves. The depth of the neckline was a little deeper than Y/N would have picked for herself but it looked fantastic on her. Thomas also wanted her to wear white satin gloves and the veil would be satin as well, with some minimal lace details at the hem. “You look stunning!”, Ada said, “who would have thought that Thomas had so much style?” She chuckled while you stood in the middle of the room, the seamstress running around pinning the dress down to make it fit even more snug. Thomas’ and his brothers suits would be made by your parents and you were really grateful that he fulfilled his promise of only getting his suits there from now on.
All this went through Y/N’s head, when Ada and Polly came to pick her up for her weddings ceremony. Ada brought along a beautiful necklace which of course Thomas had picked out for her as well. Ironically the pendant was a “T”, meaning that Y/N would utterly and completely belong to Mr. Shelby before the day was over. Y/N got into the car and Polly drove them towards Watery Lane where Y/N got into her stockings and into the beautiful dress, Ada put the veil into her hair that was pinned back into a loose low bun with some pieces framing her face. Thomas’ sister also put the necklace around her neck and some make up on her face: mascara, some rouge and a red lipstick. “You look stunning”, she said. Polly came with three glasses off champagne and kissed Y/N forehead, feeling the uneasiness beaming off of her: “Would you like some snow to calm your nerves?” The bride to be simply nodded and snorted the line, as soon as it was done. She did not feel different at first but sometime later her thoughts were calm and she smiled drunkenly. “Much better”, she smiled at Polly, picking up her bouquet and getting into the car to be driven towards the church.
When the wedding march was played, the cocaine still calmed her nerves and made her smile. Her farther walked her down the aisle towards Mr. Thomas Shelby standing at the end of it. He wore a navy black suit with a white button up and a dark fly, Y/N had to admit that he looked incredibly handsome. The only thing bothering her was his evil smile. He took her hand from her farther’s who helped her up the pedestal. Now standing across from Tommy the music slowly ended, he lifted the veil and Jeremiah started the ceremony. Y/N was still high and she knew that Thomas knew who would be mad later. She didn’t listen to anything that was said and just looked into his icy blue eyes, they were like two frozen over lakes in the middle of winter, and wondered if he could ever love her, just a little bit. The loud “Yes” Thomas said snapped Y/N back into reality and at the appropriate moment she also said “Yes, I do.” Her now husband then swept her down and kissed her. Somehow his lips felt good on her. They were full and pink and full of neediness. His tongue brushed against her lip and she opened her mouth for him, his hands on her cheeks, pulling her closer. After he broke the kiss, he pulled her into a hug, kissing her forehead and the came with his mouth to her ear: “Behave, little one.” This might have seemed like a loving gesture for the people watching but Y/N knew it was a thread. He put another ring onto her left finger to officially claim you. It complimented the engagement ring very well. Thomas Shelby was a man of style.
The two newlyweds left the church hand in hand getting into his Bentley and driving off towards Arrow House, which was now Y/N home as well, the guests following after a some Canapés and champagne.
Arriving at the House Thomas wasted no time, pulling her inside and into a side room. He immediately pressed her against the wooden door, pushing himself on her. She couldn’t move because his body was pressed against hers, one hand on her left cheek, the other on her hip. His face came closer to hers: “Darling, you can’t imagine how I have dreamt of this moment ever since you so obediently sucked me off.” She swallowed and then his lips came crushing onto hers. She felt dizzy and safe, not sure whether it was the drugs or not but she willingly gave herself to him. Y/N was quite sure that she wouldn’t have done this sober because she was scared shitless of him. The hand from her waist came up to her breasts and Thomas moaned into the kiss: “We gotta be quick and shouldn’t ruin your hair or make up.” He then flipped her around and pushed her towards the desk, pressing her down on the hard wood. Y/N tried to maneuver around but he held her down, pressing his growing bulge into her backside. “You drive me crazy, eh love?”, he whispered into her ear as he leaned down to kiss her exposed neck. While he went rough on her neck, his hands trailed to her butt, squeezing it and then gathering her dress and pushing it upwards. “Don’t move”, he said whilst opening his own pants. She looked back at the man who was about to take her maiden hood, right as his erection sprung free, she noticed how big he is. He chuckled, seeing her face: “Are you worried, eh? I am sure you will manage just fine.” His hand then went around his length, pumping it a couple of times. The other hand found his way to her stockings and even further up her lacy underwear. He simply pushed it to the side and then toyed with something between her legs. She didn’t know what it was but it send shockwaves through her body, Thomas sure felt and saw her reaction, smirking: “I said you would like it, love.” He then spit into his hand and spread it over his erection, the tip leaking with pre cum. Positioning him between her legs, he put the tip between her folds, slowly moving up and down. Y/N felt as if she wasn’t present, as if she only lived through this moment out of her body. Thomas hips snapped forward and into her, making her scream in pain because he was everything but gentle. Giving her a second only to adjust, he pulled out all the way and then back into her, all the way this time. He had to push harder this time, to break her maiden head and he heard her scream. One of his hands came to her mouth, covering it. “Be quit!”, he demanded. It was hard for him to hold back his moans because the thought of breaking her, shaping her made him even harder if that was even possible. She was wet as well but he didn’t care if she enjoyed tonight. This night was all about him: Finding another wife, finding another mother figure for his son, finding the pretty little thing on his arm for business. His hips snapped up harder, he was now balls deep into her, finding a steady rhythm, fucking her without her explicit consent. Since they were now married it wasn’t illegal and he had to blow off the steam about her being high on their wedding day. All of this made him fuck her faster, both of his hands now on her hips rutting into her relentlessly whilst his wife cried silent tears and was helpless. He knew it was cruel but to get her they way he wanted Y/N, mindless and controllable and never speaking back, he had to teach her some lessons. Starting with him showing off who was the dominant one in their relationship.
He erupted with a loud moan and came undone in her. “Might fuck a baby into you tonight. Then you will be a loving and caring mother for my pup!”, he whispered in her ear.
As soon as he came down from his high, he pulled out of her and used his handkerchief to clean himself off before tucking himself back into his dress pants. He adjusted his suspenders and button up until he looked presentable. Thomas then helped Y/N who already got off the table clean herself. He kissed her whispering praises into her mouth but she only felt hazy and confused. A maid was called who helped her readjust his wife’s outfit and her clothing. “Since you seem to like snow, here is a line for you, darling.”, Thomas said looking at his pretty little wife after preparing a line for her. Without any reply, she got down in front of him taking a sniff and the line disappeared. Thomas smiled and caressed her cheek: “Good girl.” Y/N wasn’t scared of him anymore, not when he caressed and care for her, she was and would never be scarred of Thomas when she was high. Her husband knew that and used it to his advantage, drugging her whenever things got rough.
The rest of the night was a blur of happiness and heightened emotions. Y/N played in the snow two more times this evening and was dancing happily while being watched by Thomas. Their last dance was very romantic, a slow Waltz. They looked into each other eyes the whole time and Y/N could feel an attachment towards him forming. She really appreciated when he was soft and likable rather than him being harsh and mean when he did business.
Thomas then took her upstairs into their master bedroom. Y/N didn’t know it was the bedroom he had once shared with Grace, his only love and was too scared to ask him. He picked her up and carried her over the doorstep, her face close to his with her arms around his neck. When he let her down she looked up into his cold eyes and then pressed her lips on his. He grinned into the kiss, soon taking dominance and guiding her backwards until her calves hit the bed frame and she fell backwards. Thomas climbed on top off her, holding his weight off er delicate body. He couldn’t wait to rip the dress of her body and fuck her once again. Their kiss got more passionate and he did really enjoy it. She bit onto bis lip slightly and he took the invitation, sneaking his tongue into her mouth. Since she seemed to enjoy herself, his kisses wandered to her neck, leaving open mouthed kisses, licking down her throat until he reached the neckline of her dress. Her rapid breathing only ignited the fire in him even more. Y/N hands went to Thomas’ waistcoat, opening it and then brushing her hands against his torso. He gave her room to explore whilst kissing her neck back up to her ear. When her hands pushed his suspenders down and started to unbutton his white dress shirt, he whispered into it: “You’re mine now.” It sounded like a threat and a promise at the same time.
Y/N knew that no one would ever lay a hand on her or do her harm unless it was her own husband who lashed out. He found the spot, right underneath her ear, that made her tummy light on fire and kissed and sucked and blew air onto it which only made her moans and forget all the intrusive thoughts. She fidgeted with the buttons and he soon grew impatient so he quickly rid himself off the expensive dress-shirt. Her hands rummaged his lean but toned upper body and his found their way under her skirt once again. Soon her hands were in his hair and his were in her lace panties. This time he ripped them apart, pushing the skirt of the wedding dress up around her waist. His hands exploring her legs and finding their way up to the center. She tried to close them due to the exposure to the cold air but he stopped hair, kissing down to her cleavage and then further down until he reached her uncovered crotch. Kissing his way from her thighs up to her middle, Tommy knew he drove her crazy. He blew air on her clit and she hissed, sucking in the air when his tongue touched the sensitive bundle of nerves. Thomas started sucking and licking up between her folds, sticking his tongue into her entrance. His wife, that was never touched by another man before today, started to moan softly. He heard his name more than once and decided it was time to put a finger into her whilst eating her out. Her hands messing with his hair, moaning she felt a warmth build up in her stomach. Thomas felt her walls flutter around his finger, so he huskily said: “You like that sweetheart. I want an answer.” “I.. I do Thomas.”, she stuttered. Whilst continuing to eat her out he said: “I am the only man who can pleasure you like this. Keep it in mind sweetheart. I am the best to ever happened to you.” Simply moaning a “Yes, Tommy. Fuck”, she came around his finger and onto his tongue. He helped her ride out her high and then quickly undid his pants, positioning his already hard member right between her folds. He spit onto his dick and then entered her, leaving her no time to adjust to him this time because he started taking her in a brutal rhythm. His hand came to her neck, sneaking around the delicate pressure points, pushing down and controlling her breath. Y/N knew she was completely at his mercy and belonged to him in every way possible. “Please”, she hissed. “What?”, he inquired, “please what?” “M.. more”, she tried to say but was cut short by him lifting her legs and putting them around his waist, deepening the angle and pushing into her more deeply, groaning at the new sensation. His wife also moaned. “You’re taking me so well, sweetheart.”, he said, whilst pulling out and pushing into her repeatedly, “such a beautiful little slut”. Her moan to his comment nearly made him burst into her but he steadied his breath and the hand from her waist came to her clit once again, drawing circles. Still overstimulated from before he felt her walls clutter again and after continuing for a bit he felt her cum around his dick. “You’re so perfect, love”, he moaned and buried his cock deep inside off her spilling his seed. “Maybe, I fucked a baby into you tonight.”, he chuckled and stayed inside of her for a bit. He searched for his cigarette, moving the one he too out between his lips and then lit it. His little wife was still in another universe, so after finishing the smoke, he pulled out of her, stepping out of his pants and undoing his shoes. He then went to clean himself up, coming back to Y/N sleeping. He undressed her and slid into bed next to her. Thomas last thought before falling asleep was: “I hope she keeps using snow because this is perfect.

They had met an opera.
He thought she’d be easy prey only for the fourteen-year-old witch to turn the tables on him as his own thoughts made their way into her brain. Only vampires could communicate with each other like this and the teenage girl didn’t waste any time in taking advantage of it.
She had so much to live for, a Mexico without a tyrant, her career as a prima ballerina and adulthood in these Roaring Twenties she sees so much in her visions.
“I know what you are Monsieur de Lioncourt.” The little witch had said with a charming smile. “And I know who you seek too.”
Not a what, but a who.
A person to fill the gaping hole his beloved Nicholas had left, a person who will love him forever and be his forever.
“I should have known you’re a witch. Your blood was too enticing to be that of an ordinary human.” The blond man stills the air around him so the little witch can share every bit the universe had allowed her to know of his soulmate.
Louis de Pointe du Lac, a beautiful man with a sad soul and no twin in existence. He lived in New Orleans in a place called Storyville. Louis was thirty-three years old, had a sister named Grace, mad brother named Paul and a propensity to pay for Miss Lily at the Fair Play Saloon.
The Frenchman forgets his hunt as she shares every vision she had of this man and their happiness in Louisiana while only half paying attention to the opera before them. Lestat de Lioncourt had been there when it was first composed, he knew it by heart and would eventually share it with his beloved.
They will dance together in their bliss, they will hunt together and live in the French Quarter for several decades. And even more, he’d create a daughter to complete their family.
Claudia, a consummate killer just like him.
“I shall spare you in gratitude for this…gift.” The Frenchman had said and focused on a different meal.
Six years after all of Eva’s dreams go up in a puff of smoke. Just two years later she loses her ability to dance thanks to a fracture in her ankle, her family dies before her eyes and 1920 might be a year she might not even live to see.
Eva in her madness had used her abilities to find him and beg him to end her misery. She had done everything to forget her grief, everything she wanted done before she died and now, she wanted to see whether the vampire can bestow her one last gift.
She doesn’t know how she gets to his doorstep, but the witch does and she stands before the Vampire Lestat and an immortal Louis de Pointe du Lac.
“Why would I kill you, when I owe you my Louis?” the vampire smiled like Lucifer and instead of making her a fine dinner for him and his lover, he makes a sister for Louis and an eternal friend out of the teenage girl who convinced him to let her go. “You shall dance again, laugh again and when the time comes, find your own Louis.”
The witch had felt pain before but not like that.
Her beauty was enhanced, her magical blood allowed for her to retain her abilities postmortem and her desire for death turned to a desire for blood.
She had been twenty years old then and would be that way for the rest of eternity. Her first meal is a man who mistook her for a prostitute.
Eva ---now given a new purpose--- left her beloved homeland and lived as their sister until she felt confident enough in her enhanced abilities to find her own eternal companion.
Lestat had not wanted to until she uses the same trick she used to keep him from killing her.
She showed him the man who could make her as happy as Louis makes him.
Tommy Shelby.
He lived in Small Heath where her senile grandmother lived as well, and no one suspected it was she who was behind those deaths Campbell believed the Peaky Blinders had done. As far as the man knew, Grace was compromised on the job and not fed as she walked home one evening.
Her heart soared and beat in tandem to his when she met in person.
Thomas Shelby so full of pain that his smile looked like a grimace half the time. Her telepathy allowed him to feel understood, to be able to communicate without struggling to find the words that don’t exist yet and confide in another being how alone he felt.
Then she fed a little from him, they made love until the sun came up and he’d return at dusk without her even asking him to. He didn’t hear the shovels with her, he said.
She stopped time for him so he could sleep in peace, his family adored her and she hoped she could share her dark gift with him or take him to Lestat whom she owed this joy to.
She would’ve turned him if he hadn’t shown up bloody that night in December. The vampire witch had learned restraint and yet it failed her completely that night.
As far as everyone knows, Tommy Shelby stepped into the Cut on December 3rd ,1919.
Eva Smith returned to New Orleans heartbroken just as Claudia appeared to cover up the cracks in the foundation.
“You are leaving again, ma petite sorcière.” He said almost sadly. He hated abandonment, his own mother had left him after he made her and now he fears Eva would leave and soon enough Louis and Claudia would too.
“I’ll visit, and New York is not far for a vampire.” The witch assured him and added to make him chuckle, “Besides four coffins is too cramped for a married couple. Poor Claudia has to hear the two of you doing the dirty so close to her coffin.”
“Fine, you may go. Use the wealth the dead you still has and enjoy these Roaring Twenties you’ve been dying to experience since you were Claudia’s age.” He says not hiding his pain nor his thoughts of how he hates it when they leave him alone.
As alone as he felt after Magnus self immolated in front of him.
Her mother’s family receives her with equal parts horror and relief.
They knew what she was, though only she’d been given their family’s magical legacy, those with the blood of witches can always find other nonhumans with great ease. They know she is a vampire and most know it is better she live forever than have died so young.
New York provides great distraction from her grief and ensuing loneliness, she feasts on people who are not missed, and her coffin is not kept in a trunk in the basement, instead it is kept as a sort of joke in her parlor where people come to test her abilities.
She is the Witch of the Upper West Side, an enigmatic socialite who only comes out at night. Lestat de Lioncourt comes rarely, though more often as his marriage becomes fractures more with every strain. If he’s not with her he’s with Antoinette, same Antoinette that will be another nail in the cofffin if he doesn’t change his course.
But you said he will be mine forever and that is what matters.” He points out and dismisses her advice with a dramatic sigh as they hunt tasty young men working for the Black Hand. They will blame the Irish or the Jews, no one will think it was the Frenchman and the Mexican woman their boss couldn’t help but stare at the opera.
Inevitably, Eva falls in love again. Another gangster, Italian with big dreams and while sixteen years her elder, loved her enough to make her dead heart beat for another again. She took precautions, considered turning him so she’d be spared the grief this time around only for him to go alone to England and never return.
It was the curse of the immortal, to outlive everyone you love.
It was 1925, Eva should’ve have been a wife and a mother by now and yet she was exactly as she was that night she awoke in the lavish guestroom at Rue Royale
Alone and with a pain with no cure.
She encounters Claudia months after Louis had come to see her hoping she’d be with her. The girl had gone on a murder spree seeking to make a companion and until she returned, the vampires had to stay underground for the suspicion to die down for good. Her departure had broken Louis who couldn’t make himself leave the house hoping for her return.
Lestat had wanted to join her in New York, but chose to stay with Louis in New Orleans. Before they parted ways again, he advised her how to comport herself with vampires in the old world and mentioned the Theatre de Vampires in Paris.
He warned her not to stay long and if she did, that her behavior never gave any of them any chance to put her on trial for their bullshit laws.
She travels before the world goes to shit again. She feasts, fucks and flees the moment people begin to suspect.
It is Paris just as the world comes crashing down in something called the Depression. The City of Lights hosts many who feel the brunt of the fall and others who survived it with the hoards of wealth untouched.
Brilliant Chang lives lavishly even if the English fucked him over so badly he had to fake his death. He loved his women, especially the woman with cash to burn who made him chase her as her humanity continued to slip away from her the longer she stayed as a guest with Armand.
Billy Chang’s opium allowed her to feel as high as he did during their little feedings, he wanted the Gift, to be her lover forever and never grow old as the world forgot who he had ever been.
And yet, her beloved Chang Chan Nan does not survive the transformation. A blessing because the Coven would’ve used it as an excuse to kill her.
It is 1933 and she makes the world believe he’d gone on a boat to China as his body burns in the house they shared for those four years.
She stays in New York City again, hating herself and starving herself until she meets another man whose blood sings to her like his predecessors once had.
He had had a wife, a lovely boring creature with no fire in her.
Eva could confirm that even her blood had been as lifeless and unsatisfactory as she’d been in life. Jack didn’t care, he’d married her to make a legacy through his children who needed the right blood to make it where their father could never.
In fact, the South Boston gangster had been turned on by the act of him being rid of his vapid wife. They had fucked as the body burned in the incinerator and her blood stained their clothes.
He had never loved her, she was a means to climb the ladder anyways.
Jack provides her with people to feed on by hunting them down for her, his loud brash personality so different from her other lovers and yet she loves him just as much as she loved those before him.
“I want to be forever with you.” He says when he returns from England in 1934 ready to take the next step in their relationship. The vampiress has drawn this out of fear of killing him, she had hoped to go to New Orleans and have her Maker give him the Dark Gift.
But, her lover and fiancé had wanted her to be the one to make him. To give him a new life where no real limit exists and he’d have no real need for a legacy when they’d live on forever.
This time, as if by divine providence, she is able to become not only his lover, but his Maker. The god he worships, the woman he will love forever and asks her to marry him after they feed together on a sumptuous feast she’d caught just for him.
Jack Nelson makes her his wife and takes her to Boston even if she can never give him the legacy he had long desired. They are the Nelsons who keep a lavish coffin for two hidden in a walk-in closet only he and she can open.
The happiness Lestat had promised her just like the one she promised him that night had finally come.

Requiem of Grace
a short one shot
Grace visit's Tommy in his caravan. Requiem Definition. +(especially in the Roman Catholic Church) a Mass for the repose of the souls of the dead. "a requiem was held for the dead queen" +a musical composition setting parts of a requiem Mass, or of a similar character. "Fauré's Requiem" +an act or token of remembrance. "he designed the epic as a requiem for his wife"
All seem fitting to Grace Shelby's Character.
__________________________________________________
Tumblr media
“Hello Grace, to what do I owe the pleasure?” Tommy’s smooth voice echoed off the wooden walls of his caravan. He was seated near the fireplace with his back to her. He sighed when he felt her arms wrapped around him tightly. She was seated next to him leaning in. Her face nestled deeply in his neck as if inhaling him. He doubted she was breathing. He knew she wasn’t.
His seizer had come on strong and he’d just been able to pull himself up into the bench and stroke the fire. He didn’t know how long he’d been sitting there. He smelled of wood smoke. A small comfort to him. Like the ghost of his beloved deceased wife.
“It’s not good for you to be alone right now Tommy.” Her soft voice gently scolded him. He knew that medically he shouldn’t be alone. He ended the quiet. Needed to still the voices of his family in his head. The Caravan helped with that.
“I’m not alone Grace, you're here.” His deep voice rumbled through the living space. He could smell her perfume, soft and musky. He inhaled grateful for the reprieve from everyday life.
“Where’s your family, why isn’t Arthur with you? What's left I mean.” she asked.
“So you came to remind me of that huh?” He shifted and took her frigid ghostly arm into his. She was tucked more comfortably into him now. He needed to feel the weight of her, assure himself that on some level she was actually present with him.
“No, I came to keep an eye on you. Four years sober now. I’m proud of you.” His breath hitched to hear that. How many people would be proud of him? He had worked himself to the bone for those he loved and felt he needed to care for. Family, friends and neighbors and for what? Who was here for him now to be angry, proud or to scold him like Polly. It was just him and the ghost of her.
He didn’t know how long they’d just sat there in comfortable silence, his hand rubbing small circles unto hers. He heard the rumble of a car knocking him out of his peace. Only one person knew where he was right now.
He waited until she opened the little wooden door flooding his tight lavish space with frigid autumn air. The blast sent leaves scattering in. Tommy looked down, like the leaves Grace too had been scattered in the wind gone back to wherever she came from.
“I brought you groceries, Karl is out feeding an apple to your horses.” Ada rushed around placing down the brown paper bag and looking around. Tommy glanced at her. He appreciated her check ins. He knew she wasn’t staying long. Just long enough to fuss. He didn’t mind the peace.
“One apple for two horses, that’ll end well.” He commented and smiled. His sister stood, hand on her lip glaring at him. He dared to say anything about Karl Thorne. Ever the protective mother Ada was.
“I only bought him one. I forgot. Give him a knife, he'll sort it out.” she said flippantly and she unloaded the vegetables and crackers.
“No Ada.” He shook his head. “I remember you with a pistol by the water shooting at Rats. I’m not giving the son of Freddie Thorne and Ada Shelby Thorne a knife.” They both laughed, the tension settling for a bit. It felt good to feel even if it was fleeting. He was so exhausted.
“Geez, Tommy! What happened? Did you have a fight?” Ada had spotted the blood by the fireplace where he’d seized and smacked his head on the iron hearth. “Let me see” She stood in front of him ruffling his hair looking for small traces of blood. Her fingers pulled back crimson. He looked at her hands and admired the glistening violently red blood. This was his physical curse. The brain seizures and the bloody aftermath.
“Just a seizure Ada.” He heard the dullness in his voice, the ache of his loneliness embedded in his tone. She gave him a sad small smile.
“You shouldn’t be alone right now.” It was more of a plea than a statement. She said it every time she found him in this state, the aftermath of the violent little episodes.
“I wasn't, grace was with me.” He really looked at his little sister to gauge her emotions to his statement. Ada looked startled. “Didn’t take me with her. So apparently I'm going to keep living, for now.” he added. She scoffed at him and placed her hand on his shoulder giving a firm reassuring squeeze. He hated the look of empathy she was giving him. She knew his heart too well.
“Keep it up brother, it'll happen sooner rather than later at the rate you're going.” She knew better than to scold him about it again and say the family needs him. They both knew that. They both knew he also was ready to go, his peace had been made with all that he had done in this lifetime. He needed the rest.
“Didn’t you have a visitor last week too of the apparition variety? “Ada asked. She came and sat down next to Tommy where Grace had been moments before her arrival. Grace's scent assaulted his nose and quieted his head. Ada wore no perfume, for that he was grateful for. He didn’t need his two favorite womens scents mingling about.
“Hmmm.” He poked the fire, unable to retell the encounter. He still couldn’t understand why she had come. To ask for forgiveness? To seek her own comfort? A warning? His brain was too muddled by it to think clearly.
“Linda is pregnant again.” Ada offhandedly changed topics. Tommy was grateful, he knew she had caught on quickly that he didn’t want to talk about their mother. A long pause filled the caravan prompting his sister to continue in discomfort.
“Arthur keeps saying he’s too old to be a father.” she rattled on.
“ He’ll be fine. He's a good dad, yeah.” Tommy already knew the answer. Arthur was gentle and kind hearted in spite of doing what Tommy had asked in the past. “Far better father than ours.”
“Seems to be. Don’t know how strong his boy will be if he keeps bowing down to Linda’s every whim.” She and Tommy locked gazes. Both silently agreed that Linda had far too much influence on the man. Arthur never came to visit, Tommy understood why. He and Linda had enough power struggles in the past and she hated the brother for it.
“They’ll manage. The world is always changing Ada, always changing. Doesn’t need our help anymore.” He mused more to himself than her. She bent her head down to capture his gaze and raised a disapproving brow at him. He smirked. It was true and they both believed it whether or not she’d admit it yet. He honestly thought Ada was enjoying the break. Getting back to her mostly carefree self, worry for him aside.
“Enough! Come outside while I clean up. I'll deal with you in a minute.” she scolded and shooed him toward the door.
“Alright, alright, I’m off.” Tommy stood and slowly made his way to the door testing his steadiness. Sometimes he was drained after the little head trauma he suffered. He felt alright enough, tired and his head felt a little tight. Nothing that wasn't normal.
“Banged yourself up real good again huh uncle Tommy?” Karl's’ confident eleven year old voice rang out through the tree’s echoing off the hills. Tommy had tied his horses to a strong tree nearby. He was grateful now he had them close.
“Yes Karl, hand me the apple.” Tommy produced a knife and held out his hand. The boy sheepishly grinned up at him.
“Oh, it's gone” Karl laughed as he spoke. He had Ada’s cheekiness for sure. Tommy rolled his eyes in exasperation, of course it was.
“Who's the lucky horse?” His strength regained in his voice. Karl grinned and turned around. Pointing to a small clearing near the horses by a rocky trail.
“I smashed it to bits on the rocks over there. They each got pieces. My hand is covered in horse slobber now.” Karl looked down disgustedly and wiped his dry hands again as if to remove the memory of horse saliva off on his pressed trousers. His uncle laughed heartily. Ada and Karl would never know how much he appreciated their presence in his life.
“Alright, let me see that noggin of your Tom.” Ada approached with a hot damp cloth, the cold air causing steam to rise from her palms. Tommy bent down so she could get a better look to clean him up.
“I hate when mom cleans my face. Get it all up my nose and my hair.” Karl's complaints earned him a stern warning from Ada and a suppressed laugh from his uncle. They would never understand.
After a while and a good full supper Ada left and asked Tommy to drop by soon. She’d asked him to stay a few days making up small outdoor choices she wanted him to do. He knew Ada had the money to pay a contractor to help, but he accepted for the company and to keep the peace.
He found his gramophone and placed his favorite record on. Grabbing a hot drink he sat down in front of his fire again as the music flooded the trailer and his ears gently.
Requiem in D minor by Mozart.
“Here you are Grace, wherever you are. A requiem….a requiem of Grace.” He sat back and closed his eyes. Grateful for the day's events.

Ouiser (left) and Clairee are keeping an eye on me.
(If you missed it, Ouiser, Clairee and their brother Drum joined us on Wednesday. They were stray turn-ins to our local animal control, they're 7 weeks old, and since Shelby needed age-appropriate playmates, I brought 'em home. They're in the foster room, but in a cage (when I'm not in the room; when I am in the room, they get to run around and play) for a couple of days so that they and Shelby and M'Lynn can get used to each other. After some initial hissiness, it's going pretty well.)

Could i request a Thomas Shleby with a (1-3) gender neutral age regressor reader? If you want, maybe they could be a peaky blinder's sibling (not a Shelby, maybe Isaiah Jesus) and Tom wants to keep reader safe and take care of them while the boy does his jobs? I don't know how much of age regression they would understand due to the time period it is set in but also think at least Thomas or Polly would piece together the "why" and "when" reader regresses (especially since Thomas seems to be very aware of other's behavior and also maybe traumas since he can relate and/or is very good at reading people) so they kinda go along with it? It would be nice to see just some nice fluff and Tommy comforting reader while they wait for their brother and just enjoy themselves playing in his office maybe Tom putting them down for a nap so they don't get cranky when their sibling arrives
I hope it doesn't sound weird, since it's one of my first requests sorry!

hello my dear! so sorry that this has been sitting in my inbox for so. long. I’ve been working on it on and off for the past while! I hope u enjoy <3
Cg Tommy Shelby & Little!Reader - A Little Storytime
WC: 968
As Isaiah Jesus’ half-sibling, you were well aware of the ins and outs of the Peaky Blinders. The heists, protection, and even wars that they were responsible for in Birmingham’s streets were a part of daily life. It wasn’t hectic all the time, but the responsibility each member had was immense and came with more baggage than you had ever been interested in carrying.
Yet you did have responsibility, and it was in making sure your regression didn’t get in the way of your brother’s duties. As far as you knew, no one other than your brother knew about your age regression, or at least drew attention to your coping mechanism. You had an inkling that Polly and Thomas had an idea that something was going on. Disappearing for entire days or clinging to your brother when there were too many people around wasn’t necessarily the most unassuming of things.
All of these thoughts ended rather rapidly when Tommy took matters into his own hands. You were busy playing with Isaiah, sitting on the floor of the betting shop and flipping through a picture book. He sat across from you, his suit jacket and hat draped across one of the desks haphazardly. A day off for the shop, only Polly remained in her office, door closed and blinds pulled down. You were having a nice time, that is until Tommy barged into the shop, shouldering the wooden door open in anger.
“Isaiah!” He nearly shouted, causing both you and your brother to jump.
“Holy hell, Tommy! What is it?” Isaiah gasped, springing up to his feet as you curled into yourself. Tommy paid you no attention, sights set on Isaiah.
“You were due at the docks two hours ago. D’you want to be replaced?” Tommy’s cerulean eyes flashed.
Isaiah gulped, grabbing his jacket and putting his cap on. “No, sir.”
“What’re you waiting for, boy? Go on.” The older man motioned to the door.
“I- uh,” Isaiah offered you a hand and you took it, rising to your feet but refusing to lift your eyes from the floor. “I can’t leave them alone right now.”
Finally, Tommy looked at you. He cocked his head to the side, making a quick assessment. “Well, y’can’t bring ‘em with you. For fuck’s sake, go on, Isaiah.”
Isaiah gave your hand an apologetic squeeze and hurried past Tommy, giving you a last glance before shutting the door behind him.
Not only were you alone with Thomas Shelby, leader of the Peaky Blinders and one of the most intimidating men you had ever laid eyes on, but you were little and he was starting to encroach on your space. In fact, you began to tremble as he seemingly stomped over to you.
It was beyond a surprise when he pulled his cap off and crouched down in front of you, causing your eyes to look into his rather than at the floor.
“Did I frighten you?” He asked after a moment, voice low but strangely gentle. His cerulean eyes were so blue you felt as if you could fall right into them.
Little and honest, you nodded your head and wrung your hands together.
“We can’t have any of that, can we?” Tommy’s voice lilted, and so did your heart in your chest. “C’mon.” He offered you his hand and you shuffled on the spot before taking it.
You cast a stray look back at your book that was still on the floor, bottom lip jutting out slightly. You had really wanted to finish the story with Isaiah! Now you weren’t too sure what exactly it was that Dr. Dolittle was going to do.
Tommy, ever perceptive, picked your book up off the floor, losing the page you were on in the process. Your hand wilted in his grasp. What was he going to do with your lovely picture book that Isaiah had gifted you with?
A soft chuckle from Tommy had your shy gaze looking up at him in surprise. “You want to finish your book, yeah?”
You nodded again, unable to be brave enough to use your voice. He tugged you along, right towards his office — which you had never been inside before. There hadn’t been any need for you to, dealing more often than not with Polly when it came to gang business.
An exasperated, shaky noise slipped past your lips as he opened the door. “‘M I in t-trouble?”
The older man let go of your hand and sat himself down in his chair, in front of a large and meticulously clean desk. “Of course not. Come.” He ordered, though his tone was warmer than you expected.
You shuffled over to him hesitantly, and nearly yelped when he pulled you onto his lap. Your trembling lessened when he handed you your book.
“I lost your page. Y’gonna find it again?” He asked, watching you carefully as you frowned and started flipping through the book. You aah-ed in relief when you landed on the right page, Dr. Dolittle smiling brightly with his rosy cheeks and grey top hat. Already you felt yourself slipping further, feeling tiny in Tommy’s lap and protected by his arms around you.
“Here. I’ll read the words, and you can flip the pages.” He said casually, and began reading the words that you always skipped and didn’t even notice. The story started to come alive right in front of you, and the gentle, low rumbling of Tommy’s voice filled your little heart with everything you needed.
You didn’t even realize you were sleepy, that is until you awoke with your head tucked against Tommy’s chest and the way it softly rose and fell against your cheek. Perfectly comfortable, you snuggled back into him and entered a peaceful sleep, full of dreams of Tommy’s unexpected kindness.

Carroll Shelby was born #OnThisDay in 1923 in Leesburg, Texas. As a driver, Shelby won the 1959 24 Hours of Le Mans (with Roy Salvadori). As a constructor, he returned to the Circuit de la Sarthe to shepherd the Ford GT40 victory in 1966 and 1967. With his big grin and black cowboy hat, Shelby brought a touch of Texan good ol' boy to every deal he made... and he made quite a few deals. According to his autobiography, "[W]inning the Twenty-four Hours was probably the greatest thrill I ever got out of racing. I can think of plenty of other races that carry their quota of thrills for the winner, but when you win this one it kind of gives you license to go out and tell people you're good, and that often helps get some other deals together." Some of those deals gave the world the Shelby Mustang and the Cobra. In 1965, the Shelby American Cobra won the International Championship for GT Manufacturers. Not too bad for guy who didn't start driving professionally until he was 29 years old! All photos from Revs Digital Library. #gt40 #cobra #shelbyamerican #lemans #revsinstitute
