2024 Fic Round Up
I was tagged by @exhuastedpigeon & @rainbow-nerdss . This took me longer than expected but here it is. In 2024, I was able to break out of a block when I discovered a new fandom and fell in love with Buddie. I’m hoping that my writing beans return to me asap & 2025 is another great writing year for me. 🤞
A huge thank you to everyone who has read my fic this year, who have left comments and kudos and recced my words to others. It’s truly appreciated! Meeting new friends, reuniting with old friends, and continuing great relationships with mutuals and followers who are also into 911 has helped keep me inspired and creative.

Drabble for #19
god first one out the bat and its a doozy.
#19 - Not Strong Enough by boygenius,
The Diaz kitchen is kind of like a liminal space. The soft light never feels too harsh. It smells perpetually of some combination of allspice and the citrus dish soap Eddie prefers. It's always warm, and sometimes Buck swears he can feel the floor beating beneath his feet, the heart of the house, entrenched in the love Eddie has poured into it. It's always been a safe haven, protecting from the horrors of the outside world, a safe harbor in the storm. The day Eddie blows their lives up the house doesn't lose even a little bit of that warmth, that safety, despite the fact that Buck can feel his own heart shattering where it's trapped in his chest. But he forces a smile, cracks a joke, sits on the couch next to Eddie and listens to a very nice woman talk about the Texas heat, about accommodations and school districts and yard sizes. He laughs in all the right places, gets weirdly intense about bathroom tile, and tries to hold himself together long enough to get out of there without setting fire to the rubble that Eddie has inadvertently left in his wake. Buck refuses to panic until he's back at the loft a few hours later.  He stops dead in his tracks once he's made it inside, sighing, all the fight, all the emotion drawn out of his body with his breath. The thing is– Eddie's not leaving Buck. He knows that. He knows that Eddie is going after Christopher, which is what Buck had been silently begging him to do since Chris got on that fucking plane three months ago. So, it's a good thing! Or it should be. Chris is worth it, he's the most important person ever. Not just to Eddie, but to Buck too, aside from Jee, maybe. That doesn't mean Buck's heart doesn't feel cleaved in two, because Eddie might not be leaving Buck. But he is leaving. And Buck is always the one who gets left behind. He'd never seen this one coming though, it had blindsided him, and he doesn't know how to picture a life without Eddie right there next to him. Losing Chris to Texas had been one of the hardest things Buck's ever dealt with, but it was always supposed to be temporary. If Eddie leaves– If he goes to Texas, if he sells the little bungalow on South Bedford Street, if he packs up his truck and drives halfway across the country? If Eddie leaves, takes Buck's heart right out of his chest, and doesn't come back? Buck doesn't know how to be strong enough for this. He isn't sure how he's supposed to smile through it. How he's supposed to help his best friend box everything up, even the pictures on the fridge, every scrap of proof that they're a family, little and cobbled together, but family. Buck doesn't sleep well that night, or the next. Two weeks later Eddie leaves him standing outside LAX, double doors closing on his heels, with a sense of déjà vu so intense it makes Buck sick to his stomach. He has a hard time getting back into the jeep, the imprint of Eddie's touch still lingering on his shoulder, his reassurance ringing in Buck's ears. He desperately wants to believe him. He doesn't really remember the drive back, but Buck ends up at the Diaz house– his home, their home.   Without thinking, he crawls into Eddie's bed. It still smells like him. Buck sleeps. Three days later, Eddie comes back, one belligerent teenager in tow. When they come through those double doors, Buck has tears on his cheeks and a confession clogging his throat.  It can wait. He'd rather get his boys home.

Fuck It Friday
I was tagged by @inell and this fic is so close to being finished, I'm incredibly excited!
Buck’s jaw works. His eyes are glittering. “I promised you I would never, ever leave you. And I meant it. I will never leave you, and I will never leave Chris. Don’t you ever leave us.” Eddie’s throat is tight. “I can do that.” Buck won’t look at him. His jaw is clenched. Eddie walks over to him and crouches, gently taking Buck’s arms and tugging them away from his work. “Buck.” He gets Buck’s cheek in his palm and turns his face. “Look at me.” Buck drags his gaze up to Eddie’s face. “I will never leave you,” Eddie promises. “Ever.”
Oh no... I wonder what could be happening here... mweheheheheh...

"Can you kiss it better?" Buck/Eddie
Hi darling 🥰🩷 Hope you like it!
This one somehow also became part of my kiss prompts!
So...
Kiss Me Once Cause You Know I Had A Long Night 32/?
5. Intertwining your fingers
Summary:
Eddie crosses the kitchen with a fondly exasperated smile and takes Buck’s hand. “Which finger did you hit?”
“This one,” Buck drawls, flipping him off.
Eddie gives him a thoroughly unimpressed glare he's seen on Chris a million times.
“Don’t know that there's anything I can do to help, bud.”
“Can you kiss it better?” Buck asks, only half joking.
(read below! Also on ao3 if you like 🥰)
“Ah, fuck,” Buck hisses, yanking his hand back from the cabinet.
“What's up?” Eddie frowns, turning away from where he'd been putting a stack of plates back in the cabinet.
“I jammed my hand in the cabinet door,” Buck says through gritted teeth, shaking out his right hand with a grimace.
“Do I need to call you a wambulance?” Eddie teases.
“Fuck off,” Buck laughs, tossing the tea towel at him. “I'm probably gonna bruise.”
To his shock, and absolute delight, Eddie brings Buck's hand to his lips, pressing a featherlight kiss to his knuckles.
“Better?” Eddie asks softly, looking at Buck through his lashes.
“Um…” Buck clears his throat. Something in Eddie's expression, soft and yet challenging, makes Buck want to be a little brave. “It… kinda hurt my whole hand.”
Eddie ducks and presses his lips to the back of Buck's hand before turning his arm and kissing his palm, making Buck's breath catch in his throat.
“Better yet?” Eddie asks in a whisper, his thumb caressing where his lips had just been.
“No,” Buck replies.
Eddie kisses his inner wrist, right over his thundering pulse point. With agonizing slowness, he trails kisses up Buck's arm- his forearm, the crook of his elbow, his bicep. He reaches Buck's shoulder and stops, looking into Buck's eyes.
“How about now?”
Buck swallows with an audible click. “No.”
Eddie ducks his head again, slowly tugging Buck’s collar out of the way, exposing his throat. Featherlight kisses spread from his collarbone to his jaw like lichtenberg figures. Heat sparks in Buck’s gut as Eddie kisses behind his ear. He exhales a shuddering breath and tangles his fingers in Eddie's hair as the man tugs his earlobe with his teeth.
“Better?” Eddie asks in a husky whisper, nosing at Buck's jaw. He dances his fingertips down Buck's arm- leaving goosebumps in their wake- and laces their fingers together.
“No,” Buck rasps.
Eddie leans back and looks into Buck's eyes before dropping his gaze to his lips. Buck surges forward and slots their lips together. The butterflies that had been swarming in Buck's gut since Eddie kissed his knuckles transform into fireworks, bright and blinding and beautiful, setting every nerve ending on fire.
Eddie uses his hold on his hand to wrap Buck’s arm around his waist so he can cup Buck's neck. Buck presses them more firmly together, close enough their rib cages could interlock. Eddie arches into him as Buck teases the seam of his lips. He tilts Eddie just the way he wants him and dives in deeper, swallowing the soft noise Eddie makes when Buck's tongue brushes his.
They don't separate until the need for oxygen demands it. Even then, they don't go far, their foreheads pressed together as they breathe each other's air.
“Better now?” Eddie asks breathlessly.
Buck smiles at Eddie's swollen lips and takes his hand from where it had settled on Buck's chest. He laces their fingers together and presses his lips to Eddie's knuckles. "Yes," he whispers before kissing him again.

this fic is a little on pause rn as i try to see how many summer of buddie prompts i can do, but awhile ago my brain went 'hey wouldn't it be fucked up if eddie started a relationship with buck bc he was terrified of losing him and only figured out he was actually gay/in love after??' and um. yeah. here's an excerpt!
"Buck-" Eddie tries, but Buck doesn't let him. He's still backing away.
Towards the front door, Eddie belatedly realizes.
"No, Eddie, it's okay," Buck says, talking fast and not meeting Eddie's eyes. "I promise. I just- fuck. I'm gonna head back to loft tonight, okay? So you can have some space to, uh. Yeah. B-but I'll come over in the morning and everything- it'll be okay. I promise. I'll get over it, I swear. I won't be weird about it."
Eddie doesn't know which of them Buck is trying to convince more. But he's almost to the door now and Eddie's heart is slamming in his chest and the singular thought in his head is loud, frantic-
Buck can't leave too.
It's the only excuse Eddie has for why he does what he does next. He knows it's not a good one, but it's the only one he's got. Because Buck reaches a hand towards the door and Eddie-
Eddie kisses him.
consider this an open tag to anyone reading if you've got a wip to share!!

Hello, dearest inell! Thanks for your patience 💞
“Evan Buckley,” Eddie says before Buck can say a word. His lips curve up in a half grin as he extends his hand. “Heard a lot about you.” What the hell is that supposed to mean? Buck won't deny that he has a somewhat… rich history. One that he prefers to keep buried in the past where it belongs. Unfortunately that doesn’t mean everyone else does. Is that what Eddie’s getting at? Because if he’s here to rub Buck’s previous fuck ups in his face, and gloat about his own perfect existence, well, this is going to be one agonizingly long project.

Oooh! Hope this piques your interest, and, thanks!
🤫 (Reddit thread/nightmare fic)
Eddie went from dead asleep to wide awake in the space of two seconds. Without conscious thought, one hand reached out to grab his phone and the other pressed down onto the mattress so that he could sit up against the headboard.
"I'm here," Eddie said into the phone, the call already answered. "I'm here, and so are you. We're okay. We made it out."
😍 (Oblivious!Buck)
“Clearly,” Eddie said drolly, his pulse beating a quick uptick at the thought that all may not be lost. “So, what you’re saying is-” “What I’m saying is that you will need to smack that boy upside the head until he realises that you’re talking about him, not just to him.” “Condoning violence, Hen? I’m shocked.”
😡 (The Elder Buckleys Are Trash)
"That man didn't love you!" she spat, and as Eddie saw Buck flinch, saw the words hit, he knew this was it. "None of them do!"

“Yeah, you’re right. Can we…can we stay friends? I had a good time hanging out with you last night. Y’know, before I acted like a lovesick idiot over my best friend.”

2024 AO3 Stats
I’ve been tagged by several people, most recently @diazsdimples & @hippolotamus and I finally had time to do it!
Tumblr media
I actually liked every fic I wrote this year, maybe because I finally wrote words after a bit of a block. I got into a new fandom and ship, too, which was fun. Blank template is below the cut. I’m not sure who hasn’t done this yet to tag.

fuck it friday
tagged by @dangerpronebuddie <3 haven't done one of these in a while but. i started writing this one months ago and now i'm like. well wow. should really finish this because. eddie really might be going to texas. (part of the buck drowns fic btw)
Buck waits, chugs down some more wine while Maddie's eyes flicker over the letter, once, twice. Finally, she sets it down on the counter, looks up at Buck and says, "I think you need to go to El Paso." Somehow, all at once, it's exactly what Buck wants to hear, and exactly what he doesn't want to hear. There's a relief that washes over him, like a warm, sunlit wave. But then— "You think I don’t want to?" Buck says, sets his glass down. "God, Maddie. I feel like I—like I'm going five rounds in a ring with myself every day just to not get in my car and drive." "Okay." Maddie looks at him. Careful, soft, gaze intent. "So why don’t you?" "Because," Buck argues. Because. "Because he asked me not to." "Did he?" Maddie asks. She slides her fingers over the letter, delicately. Like it's something precious, like—like she knows it is. To Buck. Then pushes it back over to Buck's side of the counter. "Because I just read the note, Buck, and I don't think he did." Buck swallows, reaches for it, for those familiar creases, the distinct indent of Eddie's scrawl. Did he? "I–well, okay. Not–not specifically," he agrees. Because it wasn’t—Eddie didn't ask. But it was— "He said he needed time. So I can’t. I can't be this person, Maddie. This—this needy, clingy person who chases him across states. That's not who he needs me to be." "Or it's exactly who he needs you to be." Maddie covers his shaking hands. Shaking. God, when did they start shaking? "I think he needs you to go after him, and I think—" Maddie pauses, soft pads of her fingers pressing against Buck's skin. Then, "I think the only reason you haven't is because you're afraid you're not enough to bring him back." Buck shakes his head, can't quite make his throat and mouth work in tandem to refute her. The words twist and churn in his chest, his stomach. Like a pinwheel. Sometimes, it's uncomfortable, just how well Maddie knows him. "You—you really think I should go?" "Buck," Maddie says, then softer, "Evan," the way she used to say it when they were kids. When she needed him to hear what she meant. "This is a love letter. You do know that, don't you?"

Fuck It Friday
*emerges from the end of the work week covered in blood* I MADE IT. I SURVIVED.
I was tagged by @inell and @tizniz for this so have a fun snippet of boys flirting having fun platonic banter.
Buck sits down on the steps and grins, holding out a hand. “Lemonade?” Eddie passes him a glass. “From Abuela.” “She’s sweet.” “She likes you.” Enough to cook for Buck, which certainly isn’t something she does for everyone. “Well, I like her. It’s easy to see where you get it from.” “Get what?” “All of it.” “Including my good looks?” “I’ve actually been meaning to ask, is she single?” Eddie laughs and sits down, his knee knocking against Buck’s. “Seriously, what you’ve done with the backyard—I don’t even know how, but thank you.” “You’re letting me keep a greenhouse of insane plants in your backyard, Eddie. It’s the least I can do.”
I wonder what fic this could possibly be from...

Buddie - “There are people who love you, you know”
For you, Inell! <3 (I am so sorry this took me so long).
Buck withdraws his hands as Eddie stands, wincing as the movement aggravates his sore muscles. Buck’s shoulders drop and he tosses the ice pack he’d been pressing to Eddie’s shoulder blade onto the bench. “There are people who love you, you know,” Buck says firmly. He feels like he’s having an argument with himself. Like he’s looking for a fight he has no right to chase. It wasn’t Eddie’s fault the ceiling caved in. It’s not Eddie’s fault Buck blames him anyway. Like Eddie tried to leave him. Eddie scoffs and continues to rifle through his locker. “Are there?” “You know there are,” Buck says, moving to stand beside Eddie. The scratches across his face look better after his shower, but they won’t heal for a few days. Buck is more concerned about the wounds he can’t see.  The fear from watching Eddie disappear in the rubble has faded. He’ll have a new nightmare to add to the rotation but he doesn’t care as long as Eddie is here.  “My son hates me,” Eddie says. He slams his locker closed and turns to face Buck. “My parents hate me. My sisters won’t speak to me. Hen and Chim have their own shit going on, so does Bobby, and I…” He swallows thickly and ducks his head. “What do I have left?” The helplessness in Eddie’s voice breaks Buck’s heart in two. How could Eddie not know?  Maddie’s words from their talk yesterday echo in his head.  “How does he not know, Maddie?” Buck had cried after Eddie had confessed he was afraid he’s doomed to be alone, even after Buck had told him it wasn’t true. Because he always had Buck. “Because you haven’t told him,” she had said in her best Big Sister voice.  Buck opens his mouth to speak, but he finds he doesn’t have the words to express it all. Instead, he gingerly cups Eddie’s cheek, tilting his head up.  Eddie looks up at him, tears shining in the warm brown. Buck leans down and presses a careful kiss to the scrape across his cheek, then the bruise beneath his eye. Eddie’s breath catches in his throat.  “Buck,” he whispers, his voice trembling.  “You have me,” Buck says, more certain than he’s ever been before. He presses a featherlight kiss to the corner of Eddie’s mouth and swipes his thumb there as he meets Eddie’s eyes again. “You’ll always have me.” “When you tell me there are people who love me…” Eddie trails off.  “I mean me,” Buck confesses. It’s not the best time, but it may be the perfect time. “I love you, Eddie. Chris does too, and you know that. It’s gonna be okay. We’re gonna be okay.” Eddie sighs and nods as best he can with Buck still cupping his cheek. He presses into the touch and Buck’s heart swells. “We’re gonna be okay.”  When Eddie cups the back of his neck to draw him into a soft kiss, Buck starts to think Eddie believes him.
Send me a sentence for a buddie drabble!

New Fic: Promising Light
It's almost midnight, but I DID IT. I hope you all enjoy!
Summary:
Buck and Eddie fall asleep drunk and in separate rooms after the night of Buck and Tommy's breakup. They wake up seven years later, in an unfamiliar future, only to find out that they're married.
Snippet:
Confirming his suspicions, Buck rolls over to face the person cuddling him, breaking the embrace and the more, uh, intimate contact. To his immense and stomach churning confusion, it’s Eddie. Sleepy and groggy, eyes not even open. But still. Eddie.
Holy fuck.
“Eddie?” Buck demands.
Eddie’s eyes snap open.
There’s a brief moment where Eddie is sort of frozen. Like a deer in the headlights. Then, he goes a bit pale. He looks down at his erection. Then, he rolls back away from Buck like Buck has burst into flames.
“What the fuck?” He demands.
“I didn’t…” Buck struggles. “I don’t even remember… How?”

✨✨✨
Thank you for the ask, friend! Continuing on with more Buckley sibling content ✨
His breath rushes out of him, blowing into the pink green glow. He watches in awe as it disperses, making the sunburst patterns on his walls light up, warm and golden, illuminating the space like fireflies.
“You did it!” She praises him as if he had any influence on any of what just happened. He gives her an enormous grin anyway. It feels impossible not to with how content he feels.
“No, you did!”
“Well, you did the most important part,” she argues good naturedly, tousling his hair.
He beams with pride, leaning into the touch. Thankfully, she takes the hint and strokes his forehead with her thumb.

Seven Sentence Sunday 🦵
Ah I haven’t shared fic in a hot minute — but I finished the first chapter of my Buck and Tommy meet at physio after the truck bombing fic (inspired by @bucked-it-up’s post)! I’m very excited and I want to post it but I know I should write some more chapters before I upload :( anyway here’s a little snippet of Buck and Tommy texting in chapter 2 - Buck is an oblivious boy who’s flirting without realising as normal:
Ever since they climbed Everest Buck’s staircase, Buck had been texting Tommy constantly. Look, it wasn’t like he had anything better to do — he was off work, and barely left the loft. It was nice having someone outside of firefighting too, someone who knew him just as him, if that makes any sense.
Tommy didn’t seem to mind, in fact he seemed to actually enjoy Buck’s spam of random messages, giving him back a witty reply or two on occasion that had Buck rolling his eyes but smiling.
Buck: What’s your star sign?
Tommy: Aquarius don’t tell me you believe in that stuff
Buck: It’s fun!
I’m a Leo by the way.
Tommy: So what’s my fortune, oh wise one?
Buck: 🙄
You’re gonna get hit by a bus
Tommy: What the fuck
Buck: HAHAH sorry
It says that you’re going to meet an incredibly handsome man with a broken leg that owes you a beer
Tommy: Damn, I hope that happens soon…
Buck: >:(
