How to choose a good microwave oven
The power of the microwave
If reheating your dishes quickly is your first choice, know that the vast majority of devices tested do the job well, and even very well. There is therefore little difference between an oven with a power of 900 W and one of 1200 W.
That said, the majority of ovens offer power levels from 1 to 10. At 1, the appliance operates only at 10% of its capacity, while at 10, it provides 100% of its power. For our test, we compared microwaves at maximum intensity.
In general, manufacturers recommend using the high levels (8, 9, and 10) for reheating foods that contain a lot of water, such as soups, drinks, and most vegetables. The low intensities, from 1 to 4, are useful for slightly reheating a dish - which would have become lukewarm, for example -, softening butter or gently defrosting food. Of course, the higher the intensity selected, the faster the food will heat; watch your dish to prevent it from overheating!
The interior and exterior volume
If you have little counter space, pay attention to the dimensions of the appliance that interests you. The difference in width between the tested models can be up to 8 cm; height, 6 cm; and depth, up to 13 cm! Two or three centimeters can make all the difference in your choice; be sure that the chosen oven will fit in the space provided in your kitchen.
Also, it is possible to put a large plate in all the ovens evaluated, but it will be less easy to fit into a small capacity model and to be removed from it.
With or without humidity sensor
Are you tempted by a model with a button (sometimes called sensor reheat or sensor cook in English) that eliminates the need to select the duration and intensity of cooking? This function activates a sensor designed to detect the moisture given off by food throughout the heating cycle and adjusts the cooking time accordingly. The goal is to provide you with a dish that is not overcooked. Be careful, however: do not open the door before the time is displayed, otherwise, the program will be canceled. Also, in order not to generate additional humidity, the container, the tray, and the cavity of the microwave oven must be dry.
So, essentially, this cooking sensor? We are not convinced of that. In some cases, the time set by the appliance was too long, resulting in dishes that were much too hot. Result: you will have to wait for your meal to cool before eating it… which negates any time savings! In short, you can play the role of the sensor yourself by choosing the power recommended in the instruction manual, stirring the food halfway through cooking, and checking the temperature of your dish periodically.
The pre-programmed functions
If you find it tedious to choose the length and intensity of cooking, you will certainly appreciate the “quick add” button. Just press it several times to obtain the desired cooking time. The Danby, RCA, and Everyday Essentials models we tested are the only ones that don't have this button.
The “automatic defrost” function, which is available on all devices, is also very practical. Follow the indications given in the instruction manual and watch the work in the specific case of the meat, which risks cooking.
All models tested have a child safety device that, when activated, locks the buttons on the device. On most models, you must press the "on / off" button until an indication appears on the display and a beep sounds.
The price
Our three "best choice" have volumes of 1.5 and 1.6 fit 3 and are $ 200, respectively, $ 280 and $ 400. We also found two "good choices" for $ 100, but they are smaller (0.9 and 1.1 fit 3) and devoid of the "humidity sensor".
How does a microwave oven work?
The microwave may have been part of the decor for many years, but its operation remains a mystery to many people. Does a microwave use less energy than a stove?
According to Energy Star, the microwave oven consumes up to 80% less energy than a traditional stove. Consider using it effectively, for example by reheating small portions of a dish or by defrosting meat only occasionally, when you don't have time to do it in the fridge. Also, do not overheat your dishes; stir food halfway through cooking so that the heat accumulated around the pan disperses evenly.
Can the microwave cause interference?
Yes. The microwave oven may interfere with radio, television, cordless phone, or router signals. If this happens to you, move your microwave oven away from sources with which it is interfering. Also, do not plug devices that may be touched into the same outlet you use for the microwave.
Do you have a pacemaker? The operation of some of these slightly older devices may be affected by a microwave oven, but this is no longer the case with newer pacemakers. See your doctor if you are worried about this.

The second generation of an Audi success story is here – the A3 Sedan. The compact four-door model is digitally and fully connected – from the infotainment through to the assist systems. Beneath the body, new drives and refined suspension tuning ensure a driving experience that is as efficient & dynamic.
Powerful and elegant: The exterior The front is dominated by a large Singleframe with honeycomb grille that is flanked by striking headlights. On the outside, they form trapezoidal angles that are drawn downward. In the top model with Matrix LED technology, this is where the new digital daytime running lights are housed. They consist of a pixel array made up of 15 LED segments that can be actuated individually and give the various versions of the A3 Sedan a specific signature.
With the A3 Sportback, the body line running above the sill rises towards the rear lights before the rear wheel arch, thus accentuating the short rear end. The body line on the Sedan, by contrast, extends up to the rear bumper. This emphasizes its length – 15 centimeters (5.9 in) longer than the Sportback – and gives the flank an elegant appearance. The concave surface under the broad body shoulder further accentuates the quattro blisters and the sill. This creates an intensive play of light and shadow. The roof line slopes down from the B-pillar dynamically – just like on a coupé – and finishes in a striking spoiler on the tailgate. Optionally available in carbon, this provides a visual accent and, in so doing, emphasizes the powerful appearance of the four-door model.
Streamlined body The aerodynamics benefit from the higher rear end compared with the predecessor as well as the large diffuser. As a result, the new A3 Sedan with the 2.0 TDI 110 kW (150 PS) achieves a Cd value of 0.25 and is therefore 0.04 Cd points better than the first generation. The controllable cooling-air inlet with two electrically actuated louver modules behind the Singleframe also contribute to this. They regulate the flow of air intelligently and according to the situation. In addition, the paneled underbody, the exterior mirrors with improved aerodynamics, and the active brake cooling reduce air resistance and make for a streamlined vehicle.
Focused and digitalized: The cockpit The cockpit of the A3 Sedan is entirely focused on the driver. This begins with the interior design and ends with the display and control elements. Thus, the instrument panel with the central MMI touch display is inclined slightly toward the driver. It has a 10.1-inch diagonal and is intuitive to operate. As standard, it includes handwriting detection as well as natural language control that can optionally draw on the capabilities of the cloud. The 10.25-inch instrument cluster behind the steering wheel is digital even in the basic model. As the Audi virtual cockpit plus, it measures 12.3 inches and offers three different views, including sporty graphics with inclined digits and a particularly dynamic layout. The RPM and speed are shown here as bar diagrams with angular red graphical elements. Upon request, a head-up display complements the display concept, whereby it projects important information onto the windshield in the driver’s direct field of vision. Highly connected: From infotainment to driver assistance The top infotainment system in the new A3 Sedan is the MMI Navigation plus, which uses the third-generation modular infotainment platform (MIB 3). The MIB 3 boasts computing power ten times higher than in the predecessor model, connects the car via LTE Advanced speed, and connects the smartphones of the passengers to the Internet via Wi-Fi hotspot. The MMI Navigation plus offers a multitude of Audi connect services as standard, including online traffic information, news, and additional information such as photos, opening times, and user reviews relating to points of interest.
Car-to-X services that make use of the swarm intelligence of the Audi fleet are also part of the portfolio. They report hazardous areas or speed limits, for example, to vehicles with the corresponding equipment or find free parking spaces at the side of the road. If the car is switched off, the myAudi app continues navigation from the car on a smartphone. This way, customers reaches their destination directly.
The A3 Sedan is also connected to the smartphone via the Audi smartphone interface, which integrates iOS and Android cell phones with Apple Car Play and Android Auto in the MMI, as well as via Audi phone box. The latter connects the device to the car antenna and can charge it inductively. What is more, the A3 Sedan can be locked and unlocked as well as started via an Android smartphone with the Audi connect key. Personalization allows up to six users to store their preferred settings in individual profiles, including those for the seat, climate control and media. The DAB+ digital radio comes as standard. Options include online radio and the hybrid radio, which automatically switches between FM, DAB, and the online stream depending on a station’s signal strength, thus ensuring optimum reception. Beginning in the middle of the year, the Amazon Alexa voice assistant will complement the offering.
The driver assist systems are also particularly effective thanks to the close networking. In the Audi pre sense front system, the camera behind the interior mirror works together with the front radar to prevent accidents, or at least reduce their severity. The standard collision avoidance assist also uses the data from this sensor system. Adaptive cruise assist, an innovation from the full-size class, supports drivers with longitudinal and lateral guidance. The efficiency assist notifies them when it would be sensible to take their foot off the accelerator. To do so, it evaluates information including the navigation data. The exit warning, the cross-traffic assist and the surround view cameras that will follow shortly after the market launch are also useful in in urban traffic.
Three engines at ramp-up: The drives
The new A3 Sedan is available with a choice of two TFSI engines and one TDI engine at launch. One thing they all have in common is high efficiency. The 35 TFSI, a 1.5-liter direct injection engine, produces 110 kW (150 PS) and is available in two versions – with a newly developed six-speed manual transmission (combined fuel consumption in l/100 km: 5.0 – 4.7 (47.0 – 50.0 US mpg)*; combined CO2 emissions in g/km: 114 – 108 (183.5 – 173.8 g/mi)*) and with a quick-shifting seven-speed S tronic (combined fuel consumption in l/100 km: 4.9 – 4.7 (48.0 – 50.0 US mpg)*; combined CO2 emissions in g/km: 113 – 107 (181.9 – 172.2 g/mi)*).
Besides the cylinder on demand technology, the powertrain in conjunction with the S tronic dual-clutch transmission uses a 48-volt mild hybrid system. It recovers energy during deceleration, supports the engine with up to 50 Nm (36.9 lb-ft) of torque when driving off and accelerating from low engine speeds and allows the A3 Sedan to coast with the engine switched off in many situations. In everyday driving, it reduces consumption by up to 0.4 liters (0.1 US gal) per 100 kilometers (62.1 mi).
The 2.0 TDI with 110 kW (150 PS) (combined fuel consumption in l/100 km: 3.9 – 3.6 (60.3 – 65.3 US mpg)*; combined CO2 emissions in g/km: 101 – 96 (162.5 – 154.5 g/mi)*) also works in conjunction with a seven-speed S tronic, whereby gear shifts are performed via a new switch using shift-by-wire technology.
Comfortable and dynamic at once: The suspension The suspension of the new A3 Sedan has been tuned to be sporty and harmonious – a touch more precise than in the predecessor model. To a large degree, this precision and reaction speed is thanks to the central dynamic handling system that ensures optimal interaction between all the components relevant to the transverse dynamics. As an alternative to the standard setup, there is a sport suspension and a suspension with controlled dampers. The latter offers a wide spread between highly comfortable roll motion and agile handling. The Audi drive select dynamic handling system also allows the driver to experience different levels of suspension tuning in their A3 Sedan – from comfort-oriented and distinctly dynamic right through to particularly fuel-efficient. This also brings about changes in the characteristics of the throttle response and the progressive steering, for example, which varies its ratio depending on the steering angle.
Prices and market launch Presales of the new A3 Sedan will begin at the end of April 2020 in Germany and many other European markets. Deliveries will commence in the summer. Prices for the 35 TFSI with 110 kW (150 PS) start at EUR 29,800. Shortly after the market launch, an entry-level gasoline engine will follow with a list price of EUR 27,700.

Cost-effective earbuds with auto pause feature and Qualcomm chip: Bluedio Fi in-ear true wireless Bluetooth earbuds
Preface:
Bluetooth technology has developed a lot, from lossy transmission, audio distortion, heavy latency to supporting various high bit rate transmission, it has showed us a huge improvement! Now, most Bluetooth earbuds have changed its wireless mono into TWS (True Wireless Stereo) and adopted Bluedio 5.0.
Bluetooth 5.0, it achieves up to 300-meter wireless transmission distance, upgraded transmission rate and lower latency, Because of Bluetooth 5.0, many Bluetooth 4.0 version TWS earbuds have to be upgraded or even reproduced to remain their competitiveness in the market.
Apart from Apple earbuds, most earbuds in the mid-market adopt RTL8763B and qcc30xx chip, like the Redmi AirDots earbuds that I tested before, which used RTL8763B chip but have heavy disconnection problem. Bluedio, the brand I originally saw on Amazon hot new releases, but with further searching online, I realized that it’s an audio equipment manufacture and a Chinese local brand.
Fi, as a Bluedio new released item, has a business-style outlook that attracts me a lot.
Product display and using experience:
Bluedio Fi is packed in a transparent box, and its name Fi seems to be composed of two letters in the word “faith���.
I learned this brand mainly through Amazon before. On the package box, you can see muti-language product introduction and contacts in international platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and domestic platforms like Wechat and Weibo.
There’s also a specifically designed Bluedio App for earbuds burning in and other instruction controls. Very convenient for using.
In the box, there’s a set of earbuds, charging case, user manual, two extra different sizes of silicone earplugs and a Type-C charging cable. The earbuds and the charging case are cleverly packed separately to avoid long-time charging.
The earbuds shape like a dark drop. Where the “L” and “R” marks show is also the touching sensor area.
Compared with my Airpods Pro earbuds, Bluedio Fi has a smaller body, but obvious seams on its surface.
Bluedio Fi supports phone call, but not with ANC feature and strengthening call quality. More phone call experience will be added after I used it.
Metal shiny cover and strict drawing body together, the charging case has a more elegant and graceful outlook. It has a almost same size with Airpods, but can stand in the desk.
Logo only shows at the charging case, very low-key.
Earbuds will automatically charge when you put it in the charging case, and automatically power on when you open charging case. Operation is simplized a lot.
The workmanship of the charging case is quite good, no visible burr and other flaws inside. And the charging contacts is neat.
There’s a Fi logo inside the charging case. When you charge the case, it will turn red.
And recording LED light will fresh when you put earbuds in the charging case.
Besides, the charging case adopts Type-C interface and is equipped with a charging cable, extremely love it !
Moreover, earbuds is equipped with three different sizes (S,M,L) of soft silicone earplugs, make you wear comfortably.
Even my wife, who hates in-ear earbuds, felt no pain and pressure when she wear it.
Looking from its shape and outlook, we can feel its great fit to ears. It’s just awesome that earbuds won’t fall when you move.
Fi two earbuds can be used synchronously or separately. When you listen to music, you can use them synchronously and enjoy the surround sound. And the power will also show out on your phone when successfully connect them.
In synchronization mode, after connecting one earbud successfully, your cellphone will automatically pop out another earbud’s pairing request. The whole connecting process is very simple.
By scanning the QR code on the package, you can download Bluedio App to enjoy other extra features and services like burning in earbuds with music there. But you need to pay for some music. I think it will be better if all these music are free .
With its adopted high-quality QCC 3020 chip, Bluedio Fi has a great improvement and upgrade in transmission rate and lower latency. Apart from the chip, it also adopts 6mm large drive unit to bring crystal-clear sound and strengthens bass tuning.
Powerful bass, contagious middle, very good performance. But the treble is a little harsh. I think it’s very good for this price.
Compared with other Bluetooth earbuds which only support AAC (Advanced Audio Coding), Bluedio Fi supports APTX, more effective audio coding, 16bit, 24bit audio and up to 48KHZ radio frequency, to remain more sound details.
Bluedio Fi also has very low latency. The sound and the image is synchronous and I quite enjoy watching movies with this earbuds.
Auto pause, a feature that is only supported in high-end earbuds before, makes music automatically pause when you take off earbuds. I’m quite satisfied that Bluedio Fi has this amazing feature,
Some true wireless earbuds have a bad performance in phone call because of the long distance between mouth and earbuds microphone. However, Bluedio Fi adopts their own patented VFT technology and effectively improve phone call sound quality.
Although the patented VFT technology is applied in this earbuds, the microphone have no ANC function so that we still will be effected by the surrounding noises when we in the outdoors.
Earbuds endurance is just like the product official introduction, providing about 6 hours of using time, and I usually charge it per 3-4 days. With additional 4 times of charging from the charging case, I can feel free to use it to listen to music no matter when I’m on a business trip or at home.
Only slight tap on the touching sensor area, you can control music play and pause, adjust volume, switch songs or answer phone call, etc. Conveniently. For its business earbuds positioning, the designers didn’t set too much personalized flash lights, but for me, it’s still one of the best earbuds with competitive price.
