Taking a Few for the Team
I've always had a fantasy about a sports team breeding one of the players, transferring all their fat to the one player. It's a work in progress, but here's the first part! Contains male weight gain & sex, and some bloating/gas.
Part two is here.
Exhausted, Aaron made his way out of his last class of the semester. Walking outside onto the cold winter afternoon, he admired how nice the snow looked across his college campus. Unfortunately, there was no snow on the indoor soccer field. His coach had insisted that the team practice tonight one last time before winter break.
Even though he only considered himself to be an average player on his team, Aaron enjoyed soccer. It was nice to have something going on other than his classes, and Aaron got along well with his teammates. His best friend Jess would always poke fun at him asking when he was going to hook up with the other players since they always acted so gay around each other. He didn’t mind though, since they were all cool with him being out as gay. His teammates would joke about it sometimes but only ever in jest.
He made his way back to his apartment he shared with Jess to grab his soccer bag, then he was off to practice. It went like any other, but near the end his coach made a point to tell all the boys they had better make sure and watch what they ate over the holiday break. “I don’t need you all to have to go harder at practice than you already will when you get back.” He figured he was being self-conscious, but Aaron felt like that statement had been directed at him. He was sure the coach made the most eye contact with him when he said that to everyone.
At 5’11 and fairly muscular, he was still definitely athletic. But with exams and everything going on, Aaron found himself stress eating more than usual. He had gained about 10 pounds since the start of the semester. It didn’t bother him, if anything it was just a good bulk that he could cut and gain some muscle mass if he hit the gym hard enough over the break. But his already small uniform shorts were definitely struggling with his slightly larger butt. His tops were definitely tighter too, but if he sucked in his belly it wasn’t too noticeable.
“Shit, I was really looking forward to eating good the next couple of weeks,” said Jared in the locker room after practice. “But you guys heard him, if I can’t then you can’t either.”
Jared is the team captain, who Aaron had a crush on. He was tall and muscular, and somehow ever so slightly tan even in the winter. He was assertive but also kind and understanding. It’s no wonder the team looked up to him.
“My girlfriend’s mom makes the best desserts! What coach doesn’t know won’t hurt him” complained Trevor. With a great sense of humor, he and Aaron were pretty good friends. Aaron was also a pretty good wingman for Trevor, which he appreciated.
“Yeah it’ll be hard. I’m not sure what I’ll do when my mom makes her famous pork roast. But think of how much better shape we’ll be in compared to the other teams once spring season starts” said Jared.
“Shit, you two are making me hungry” said Aaron as he took off his top.
“Look, just don’t overdo it, man” said Jared. Aaron could have sworn that Jared shot a quick glance at Aaron’s belly, but just like before he tried to write it off as being self-conscious.
He finished changing and headed back out into the cold night. On his drive home, he thought about his workout plans for the break. Like most of the other guys, he and his family both lived nearby to the school, so it’s not like he would have to give up the gym for a month. But also in the back of his mind, he knew that it wouldn’t matter, he probably wouldn’t go anyway.
—----------------------------
The last couple days of break came faster than he expected. Aaron was seriously not ready for classes and soccer practice to start back up again. In between hanging out with Jess and also his family, Aaron had spent a few nights drinking beers and playing video games with Trevor. It was nice to become closer as friends. But also, to hang out without feeling pressure from the team about somehow gaining more weight. He knew Trevor didn’t care, but Aaron was terrified about how he was going to explain to the coach why he could barely squeeze into his shorts and jersey.
Trying it on before their practice that night, Aaron could see in his mirror that there was now no hiding the fact that he did not spend a minute in the gym all month. Or that he had completely ignored his coach’s advice not to overindulge in his mom’s delicious cooking. His shorts were straining to cover his now very round ass, and his jersey was completely showing off his new belly and love handles. His pecs were now larger looking as well. “Dammit!” he muttered to himself. He was definitely a little chubby now. But even though he was nervous about his team’s judgment, somehow he felt a bit sexier? He’d always liked men with some meat on their bones, but had never really considered that look for himself. But damn, something about how he was filling out his uniform made his shorts even tighter…
But without much time to think about it, he rushed out the door to get to practice. Somehow he was already running late.
After getting to practice, Aaron was relieved. It looked like all the other guys had spent the holiday more or less exactly like he did. Especially Jared, who now had a bit of a pudgy belly along with slightly pronounced love handles under his jersey. He liked to wear a smaller size to show off his muscles Aaron suspected, but now it was just showing off his mom’s many desserts he had eaten.
Coach definitely noticed the guys’ different physiques as well, and seemed irritated that the team was doing their exercises slower than usual. At the end of practice, after a short conversation with Jared, the coach pulled all the guys into a quick meeting.
“Look, I know I told you boys not to overdo it with eating over the break…” said the coach, with an exasperated tone in his voice “but this is ridiculous. We are going to have to do something about it.”
“Yes coach…” the team said meekly, knowing full well what they had done.
“So here is the deal. Jared and I have come up with a plan to get you boys back in shape in time for spring season. Be ready to do whatever it takes! That’s it for today’s practice, but it won’t be as easy next time!”
While changing in the locker room, Aaron reflected on what coach had told them. ‘Do whatever it takes?’ Aaron was already dreading the next practice and he hadn’t even left this one. Being the chubbiest one on the team, he knew whatever coach had in store was not going to be easy.
“Way to go, fatass” Trent said angrily, poking Aaron in his soft belly. “Now we are going to have to work out twice as hard because of you.” Trent was a player that could get pretty heated in the game, but Aaron had never had Trent get confrontational with him off the field. So this was definitely a first that Aaron didn’t know how to handle.
“I… I don’t…” stammered Aaron, blushing a little in embarrassment. He didn’t know what to do.
“Whoa calm down man” Trevor came and stood between the two. “Look, we’ve all put on a few over the holiday. I know I at least have a little beer belly now.” Trevor said, making a point to grab the little bit of belly fat he had gained and laughed. “It’s all good. We’ll get back in shape in no time.”
“He’s right, it’s not the end of the world” chimed in Jared. “Coach and I put a plan together, and it’ll definitely be faster than a normal training regimen. We should do great this season.”
“And how the hell are we going to pull that off?” demanded Trent “Other than working out twice as hard, what are we supposed to do?”
“We haven't worked out the formula just yet, but I’m sure we can do it. Just listen to me and coach. We have a plan.” said Jared, with more of his assertive-team-captain tone than before. He was still positive as usual, but Trent could tell this conversation was over.
Formula? That was an odd choice of words, thought Aaron later that night. What did he mean?
All Aaron knew was Trent poking his belly and calling him a fatass earlier was somehow… insanely hot. Fuck, why was it so hot!? If Trevor hadn’t stood in front of him, his boner in his boxer briefs would have been on full display for the whole team to see. Thankfully his normally eight incher was now slightly smaller from his new encroaching fat pad.
That night, he beat himself off grabbing his belly and playing that scene over and over in his head…
The next day, Aaron got a group text from Jared.
'Hey everyone, team meeting tonight at my place. Be there at 7.'
'Damn' Aaron thought to himself. 'What is so important we couldn't have gone over it yesterday?!'
Regardless, team meetings at Jared's house usually ended up being more of a kickback than a meeting. The guys all usually brought a few beers, snacks, and some video games to enjoy after whatever team business was discussed. Jared's family had moved away but kept the house so he could live in it while he finished college. This made it the perfect place for them to all hang.
After pulling up to Jared's quiet suburban home, he headed down to the large basement living room, where the team usually hung out. It had multiple sofas and plenty of space for the whole team.
He was surprised to find that he was the last one on the team to arrive.
"Hey man! Didn't know you had it in you to be on time to anything" Aaron said jokingly to Trevor as he sat on the couch next to him.
"Dude what are you talking about? Jared said to be here at six th-"
Trevor was immediately cut off by Jared who jumped up and started the meeting.
"Glad to see you all could make it." Jared said, standing and facing everyone. "I wanted to go over the plan coach and I made to get us all in shape. We are very excited but it's going to take every guy on this team doing his part."
Jared held up a protein shaker bottle filled with an ivory liquid. It just looked like any other protein shake. "Coach and I consulted with some people in the chemistry department and formulated a unique protein shake mixture for each of you. It's highly concentrated and is specially formulated to last longer than a normal shake. Because of this, we probably only have to drink it once a week. So every week starting today, we will all drink it together, that way I know nobody is slacking."
"Seriously?!" Chimed Trent "you have to babysit us about it?"
"No you don't understand. It's just way easier this way." Said Jared. He seemed annoyed that Trent would say something like that, as if he should have known better.
"Anyway, we are still working on the flavors. So let me know what you guys think!" Jared handed everyone a bottle with their name on it.
Aaron gave it a couple shakes then put the bottle up to his mouth and took a big sip. The shake was… delicious. It was so sweet and rich and nothing at all like those nasty protein shakes he was used to.
"Fuck that's good." "Hey man, what's in this?" "Damn it's just like ice cream…" the other guys clearly enjoyed theirs too.
"Glad y'all like it. Anyway, that's the meeting. Once you finish your shakes, I've got plenty of beers in the fridge." Said Jared with a grin on his face. "One more thing. We noticed when we were testing it, sometimes the shakes can make you a little… bloated."
As if on cue, Trevor let out a long *buuUuuUURRP* followed by some hearty laughter from the rest of the guys.
"Look if this gets us in shape like you say it will, a couple burps won't kill me" joked Trevor.
"Oh don't worry, it'll work just fine." Said Jared.
The team came prepared with the usual snacks, beer and video games. They were broing out just like any other team meeting before long.
20 minutes later…
—---------------------------
The guys started getting really gassy. Being a soccer team that spent tons of time together, an occasional fart or burp was not new for the boys. It was always followed by laughter at the expense of the perpetrator, but this was different. The teammates were all feeling way more bloated than they had ever been. ‘Hopefully these shakes are worth it…’ their faces seemed to say.
At first they seemed to be a little embarrassed about it, but after a few minutes of laughing at each other they were letting it all out. All the boys at this point were occasionally farting and burping. Aaron noticed that the boys’ cheeks were becoming a little flush as well. They were also starting to get hard. Rock hard. Aaron noticed that everyone on the team had a boner visible through their shorts by now. Even himself.
All the guys were blushing as they started noticing the strange effects of this protein shake they had been given.
"Yeah sorry guys, it has some odd side effects" said Jared.
Aaron felt super flustered. The guys knew he was gay, but staring at all their protruding manhoods felt like a step too far. He got up to go to the bathroom, but as he did…
"Hey... Has anyone else noticed how fat Aaron's ass is?" Said Trent
"You're joking right?" Aaron said in disbelief.
"Like, seriously huge..." said Trent, as he stroked his cock through his shorts.
"...hey!" Aaron was completely shocked. This… didn’t feel like their normal banter.
"I'm serious!" Said Trent. "Has it always jiggled this much??" He got up and gave Aaron’s ass a huge smack. Even through his shorts, you could see it shake in recoil.
Come to think of it, Aaron thought, was it usually that jiggly? Was this another bizarre effect of these shakes?
The next thing he knew, Trent grabbed Aarons shorts and pulled them to the ground.
"Holy fuck!" exclaimed Trent "That ass is fucking insane!"
"What the fuck is going on here!?" yelled Jared "Get your *buuuURP* hands off my teammate!"
Trent grabbed Aaron's cheeks and squeezed. His fingers sank deep into the soft flesh, which he loved. He pushed Aaron firmly between the shoulder blades, the boy bracing himself on the couch. Trent mimed fucking Aarons ass in front of the team, causing an uproar of laughter.
“Hey man, chill out!” Exclaimed Jared. “I told you how this was going to work.”
Jared grabbed Trent by the collar of his shirt and pulled him away. But then quickly dropped his own shorts and stood behind Aaron.
It all happened so fast Aaron didn’t have a chance to move. From being shocked about what Trent had done to him, to being frozen by seeing Jared act so dominant. Aaron just watched in shock as he was still bent over the couch. But he didn’t really want to move, either. He was starting to feel unusually calm.
The next thing he knew, Jared reached for some lube that was on the side table, and rubbed it on his huge rock hard cock. Wait… Aaron thought to himself, was that lube always there? Why would Jared leave it out like that?
Aaron also noticed that Jared’s balls were looking massive, as if they were a pair of oranges.
“Get ready, fatass” moaned Jared. He gave Aaron’s jiggly ass a good slap and then grabbed him by his love handles.
Aaron felt a tingle through his body. He had never had a dick in his ass before. But he had always fantasized about it. This was a very weird night so far, but he’d be lying if he said he had never fantasized about having handsome, tall, fit, dominant but gentle Jared pound his tight (and now fat) ass.
His ass relaxed as if on queue, and Jared easily slipped in. Aaron moaned quietly at the sensation of having his first dick inside him.
He could hear Jared burping as he slid back and forth. The guys were definitely getting gassy because of their shakes.
Aaron groaned as Jared began to go deeper and harder. He was so turned on by this. He didn’t care that his whole team was there. He didn't mind the gas or the loud farts that Jared was letting out. In fact, he liked it. There was something about being taken by his team captain, called names and fucked in the ass that made him feel so incredibly horny.
Jared was thrusting really hard now and Aaron could feel Jared’s huge balls colliding with his own. It was so hot feeling Jared’s fat cock sliding in and out of his ass.
"Fuck, yeah, fuck me, I love it!" whined Aaron, leaning forward on the couch.
Jared continued to pound away, slamming Aaron's asshole relentlessly. He was so focused on Jared that he forgot the rest of the team was in the room, watching and stroking their cocks to Aaron and Jared.
"Come on, you fat bitch, take my dick! *BUuuuuUP* You're gonna be our team slut now!" yelled Jared.
Aaron nodded his head in agreement as Jared pounded away.
“Fuuuck…” was all Aaron could let out between his moans. He had never been so aroused. All he wanted at this point was to feel Jared release his huge load inside him.
"Take it, take it all… Take my load!" cried Jared, as he came inside Aaron's soft stomach. Aaron felt him gushing inside him. It felt like he was cumming forever, to the point where Aaron began to feel a slight pressure inside him from all the sloshing cum.
When Jared was done, he slowly pulled out of Aaron's ass. “Don’t let that go to waste, fatboy” he said as he slapped Aarons’ dribbling ass. He started laughing as he looked at Aaron's now rounder and softer belly. Aaron looked as if he had instantly put on 10 pounds. "Damn, did I do that? You look even fatter now"
"It feels... tight" said Aaron, out of breath. "But it's amazing." He put a hand on his belly and felt not only Jared's cum sloshing around but also a softer layer of fat beneath his sweaty skin.
"I definitely feel less bloated now," said Jared with a grin, "you guys should try it" he said to the rest of the guys.
Aaron looked up and noticed Jared’s balls were normal sized now. Jared also looked like he… had lost weight? How was that possible? He looked like he was back to his toned, muscular body that he had before break. But Aaron was still in too much of a daze to think much more about it. He wanted to cum himself but his belly was too tight to focus.
The other boys all looked hesitant but something told Aaron that they all wanted to fuck him and unload their cum in him just like their team captain did.

Isaac II (Part 2)
In the days following the pregnancy announcement, the excitement died down and things returned to normal. Isaac and I went back to our day-to-day lives, although we now had twelve young people around the house who needed our undivided attention, although none of them would be staying home much this summer. Sandra, Dylan and Nate have found jobs during these months, so they will be spending more time outside than indoors. Cristina has decided to spend the summer at a college friend's house in the Caribbean. Philip and Edward have gone as monitors to a camp where our youngest children, Esther and Lucas' children have also gone to spend a few weeks. So after a couple of crazy weeks with everyone we had the house to ourselves again.
As always happens to me when my kids are away from us for a season I get anxious. Isaac doesn't understand how at this point in our lives I still get so nervous when they're not with us, but I can't help it. And like every time I have a period of anxiety I end up eating like crazy. It seems as if my body is begging me to eat to fill the emptiness I feel inside. Emptiness, well, you know it's a figure of speech knowing that it's growing life inside me again. Chocolate, chips, burgers, pizzas… my cravings were completely out of this world.
Isaac tries to reassure me. According to him “it's normal to be so hungry, you are pregnant again and this is coupled with the cravings you usually have when our children leave”. Maybe he is right, as always, but whether it is because of the pregnancy or not I am afraid of gaining back as much weight as I did when Sandra left me. Twenty years ago I went from having an athlete's body to sporting a very pronounced beer belly. Even before I got pregnant for the first time I had a huge belly. Isaac often reminds me “how sexy you were when I met you, with those curves. As soon as I saw you on the soccer field I got a hard-on, no one has ever made me so horny at first sight”. Let's just say Isaac is not very subtle when it comes to talking about how much he likes me. Why lie, I love it when he's like that, it lifts anyone's spirits.
The reality is that two weeks after I started having these cravings, when I was still a month and a half pregnant, my muscles were once again hidden under a layer of fat. My butt was regaining the splendor it had during my last pregnancy. My thighs were starting to grow, and my hips were gradually widening. As for my belly, it was getting rounder and rounder. I had never gained weight so quickly, 33 pounds in two weeks must be a record for any human being.
Within two weeks of announcing my pregnancy to the family, I had my last veterans soccer game of the season. The team that Frank, Samuel, Gary, Lucas and I had formed had qualified for the regional final, so I had no choice but to play in the final. Only Lucas knew I was pregnant, so this was going to be the perfect opportunity to announce to all my soccer buddies my new situation, a condition that would prevent me from playing soccer with them again for a while.
I arrived with Lucas in the locker room. He was the one I told about my intention to reveal the bombshell to the rest of the team, so he asked me to come with me to give me all the support. When we arrived, everyone turned to look at us. 33 extra pounds don't just hide, so I guess it was to be expected that I would stand out in a group where everyone was more or less in shape.
“I see you've made good use of these weeks off,” George, Gary's brother and the team's goalkeeper, patted me on the belly. “Man, anyone would think you were pregnant again,” Frank said with a chuckle. “But how can he be pregnant again after all this time, Frank? Don't talk nonsense!” added Gary. "And if you let him do all the talking? You sound like a bunch of blabbermouths talking non stop?" said Samuel, who was the team leader for a reason.
“Thank you Sam. Yeah, I guess I owe you all an explanation”, there was silence in the locker room. Everyone sat up and looked at me, except for Lucas, who stood a step behind me as if trying to give me support. “You see, Frank wasn't so far off the mark, my husband Isaac and I have become pregnant again. After all these years I'm going to be a dad once more, so I think this will be my last game for a while”, I told them.
They had all seen me pregnant before, so they weren't entirely caught off guard either. One by one they came up to me and gave me a hug. Some of them took the opportunity to make jokes. Some put their hands on my belly and told me that I would now become their lucky charm. Others took the opportunity to grab my ass and remind me that in a few months babies would be coming out of there. Be that as it may, everyone was very kind to me and very supportive.
The moment to wear the team uniform was a little more delicate. With all the anxiety and nerves about playing soccer again, I didn't realize that the clothes would no longer fit me. I looked like a sausage stuffed in that jersey, and the size of my butt would no longer let me put the pants on it, it wouldn't ride up that high. I grabbed my phone and called Isaac to ask him to bring me the uniform from the first day I played on the team, a year after giving birth to the sextuplets. It was a much bigger uniform, I was sure that one would fit me.
Luckily Isaac hadn't left the house yet to come see me, so he was able to grab the jersey and pants and deliver them to the locker room before the game. Of course, everyone took that moment to congratulate him on his future fatherhood. The question of how many children I had put in my belly this time was a recurring one. In fact, we asked ourselves that question at that time, although we would soon find out de number.
The game started and I played as a starter. The game was going well, by the 35th minute we were leading by two goals, but at that moment I started to feel a slight pain in my belly. I assumed that the fatigue of playing again with excess weight was behind this discomfort, so I decided to ignore it and move on.
The second half came and after 15 minutes the pain had become so intense that I collapsed on the field. I put my hands to my stomach and writhed in pain on the grass. The game stopped and the whole team came to my aid. “Dan, are you okay, do you want us to make a change so you can rest? I don't know if in your condition you should be doing these efforts,” Lucas told me. Samuel asked the trainer to change me and between him and Lucas they helped me out onto the field so Ben could come in in my place.
I sat on the bench. The pain instead of dissipating was getting worse. Between cold sweats and the intense pain I was feeling in my belly area I felt so bad that I asked the trainer to gesture to Isaac who was in the stands to come down and pick me up and take me to the hospital for a check up.
Isaac picked me up and rushed me to the hospital. “Where did Sandra, Dylan and Nate stay?” I asked him trying not to think in the pain. “Don't worry, Cal will take them home,” he told me. “Who's Cal,” I asked, not understanding at all. “Oh, right, that you haven't met him. Cal is Sandra's boyfriend. They met at the movie theater where she is working and have started dating. She wanted to introduce him to all of us today,” Isaac said, holding my hand to reassure me a little more.
As soon as I arrived at the hospital I was taken to the doctor who had checked me two weeks earlier to confirm the pregnancy. She asked me to lie down on the gurney. She took my blood pressure, drew my blood and asked me to take off my clothes. She poured a cold gel on my belly and proceeded to give me an ultrasound. I don't know if it was out of fear of what would be on the screen or what, but that day I couldn't see anything she was looking at.
After a few minutes of analyzing me, Caroline, which is what the doctor's name was, looked at Isaac and I and started talking. “Daniel, this was just a scare today, but this is a warning not to overexert yourself. At fifty years old and with a pregnancy like yours, I recommend that you get all the rest you can and not make any effort if you want the pregnancy to come to fruition”, Caroline said very seriously. Isaac and I were very scared, our hands were shaking and we didn't know how to react. We looked at each other and he hurried to put his arms around me and kiss me on the cheek, “everything is going to be okay, my love”, he whispered.
I couldn't hold back the tears. Apparently everything was fine, otherwise she would have said something to us, but I couldn't hold back the tears. “Could I have lost the pregnancy?” was the first thing I could ask. “Yes, it could have happened, but fortunately he got you here early,” she told me, although she was looking at Isaac smiling at him in approval.
“Doctor, you said a pregnancy like yours, what do you mean by this?” asked Isaac.
“You see, Daniel, you're fit, well, you were a few weeks ago when I first saw you, before you put on so much weight so quickly. But we can't get around the fact that you're 50 years old. Age is a risk factor, no doubt, but it's not just that. You are expecting quadruplets, which is also a commendable challenge for any pregnant person, young or old. You will have to take very good care of yourself and be on strict bed rest. I think you have a very big family, so you will have to support him as much as you can these months,” the doctor said.
“Quadruplets, four at once is the number we were missing,” I said laughing out loud. Caroline didn't quite understand the situation, but Isaac and I were laughing as if my comment had been the best comment ever. We explained that in my previous five pregnancies I had a singleton, twins, triplets, quintuplets and sextuplets, so with quadruplets we were definitely coming full circle. It will be true that there was a plan for me to get pregnant again. The collection had to be completed.
When we arrived home our three children were waiting for us, my sister Esther, Lucas and his husband Adam. Lucas left the victory celebration of the team to find out if I was well. There was also Cal, a dark-haired and very, very tall boy. He was 23 years old, played soccer and looked like a hero out of a medieval legend. When I saw him I looked at Sandra and winked. “You've inherited your father's good taste,” I said when Cal had already left later that night.
“You have had us so-worried,” my son Dylan said to me. “Dad, is everything okay with the pregnancy?” his brother Nate asked. I gave both of them a hug, which Sandra joined in on as well. “My sons, you can be very calm, I'm fine and so are your four brothers. Your father has had a small crisis and the doctor has forced me to maintain strict rest. For the next few months I will have to spend a lot of time in bed, but everything will be all right”. “We will have to help Dad as much as we can for the next seven months, this is a job for all of us”, Isaac added.
“You've always loved being treated like a queen, little brother”, Esther joked. “You don't know what to do to do nothing anymore, eh, buddy”, added Lucas. And yes, these funny people are the ones who have to take care of me so that nothing happens to me with the pregnancy, I have it complicated.

my mota OCs as olympians because i have to
mahalia - reigning gold medalist in women’s tennis but not the favorite because of the injury struggles. she has a fiery relationship with her doubles partner, fellow princeton alumni john egan. know for a mouth and a temper, plays with tactical precision and crazy speed, and is not someone you want to get in a fight with on twitter. she has a nike campaign and a racquet you can buy at dick’s sporting goods and outfits that have her fans making edits of her to meg songs on tiktok. doesn’t play about her parents. is coming into this olympics with less fire than usual, but her best playing in two years. some think she learned from the injury, some think it’s getting a new coach, but everyone can agree that it’s definitely not getting a new training partner in john egan, who seems to be the only person seeing the old mahalia on the court.
bucky - back to back tour champion. hasn’t medaled at the olympics yet, but after a roller coaster first five professional seasons, he’s held it together these past two seasons mostly due to a coaching switch. bowman seems to pick the problem kids. charming, strong, looks good in wristbands, has an undefinable relationship with a woman who could knock him unconscious with a tennis ball. he seems to linger around mahalia more and more as they fight less and less. they even stood with each other for the parade of nations. has a real shot this year.
hazel - beach volleyball, plays with sheila hartman. third olympics. got silver in her first, bronze in her second, and is chasing that elusive gold using momentum from the best professional season of her career. played on a national championship indoor team at stanford and everyone assumed she’d go pro in europe like her older brother did, but she joined the beach circuit instead. she’s found lots of success there, but there’s always been a “what if” hanging over her head. maybe this year she can prove that she’s right where she needs to be. is very friendly and welcoming to new players, but it’s no more mr. nice guy come game time
jack - two-time indoor volleyball olympian, first time beach volleyball olympian. it’s worse on his knees but easier on his shoulders. (there’s definitely something going on between him and hazel keene, right? or is it just me?)

15 Questions | 15 People
Rules: Answer these 15 Questions, then Tag 15 People
Thank you @facewithoutheart, @cutestkilla, @larkral, @technetiumai, @you-remind-me-of-the-babe, @shrekgogurt, @artsyunderstudy, @aristocratic-otter, and @theearlgreymage for the tags 💕
1. Are you named after anyone?
Only my middle name, which I shared with my dad until I lost it in a rushed, lunch-hour courthouse wedding ceremony.
2. When was the last time you cried?
I teared up several times recently over fandom things I read/listened to and while watching Derry Girls, but the last time I full on cried I can't recall... the only thing that jumps to mind is when I was overwhelmed on a trip last month.
3. Do you have kids?
No.
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
Not at all. I actively avoid it.
5. What’s the first thing you notice about people?
Their general attitude and energy level. Physically, it's typically what they're wearing.
6. What’s your eye color?
Blue.
7. Scary movies or happy ending?
If I am watching a movie (which is a rare thing on it's own), it will not be anything even remotely scary. I get nightmares over the stupidest shit.
8. Any special talents?
Related to the above nightmares point, I can wake myself from dreams pretty easily. I can write a solid creative brief. I am decent at public speaking.
9. Where were you born?
New York (and not the cool part)
10. What are your hobbies?
Writing, complaining about writing, playing video games (which is really only Genshin Impact at this point), hiking, consuming copious amounts of BL web comics, reading (manga), watching tv (anime).
11. Do you have any pets?
Yes. A 15 year old tuxedo cat who is lazy and lovely and wants stomach rubs all the time.
12. What sports do you play/have you played?
Soccer (mostly outdoor, but I played indoor on and off too) until I got too injured. Growing up I also did track and field - 100m hurdles, 4x100, triple jump. Closest I am to sports these days is hiking and running. I like going to all types of games though, I grew up in a very sports forward home.
13. How tall are you?
5'7"
14. Favorite subject at school?
I was never very fond of classes at school in general. I powered through college a year early so I could just be done 😅. Maybe math in high school because it was straightforward. Do the thing, get the result. But I went to school for writing because I had this dream of being a tortured artist or something. I always imagined myself as this cool, detached writer wearing a beret. (I did end up in a writing field and I did happen to wear a beret today but I am not even remotely detached. I am decidedly too attached.)
15. Dream job?
Not working 😂 I took a year off from working for reasons and I did not get bored. I filled my days, I was happy, it was lovely. But if I have to work, I think doing what I am now is sort of the dream. I work in an industry I'm personally passionate about. What I do brings people joy. I am comfortable and experienced enough that I'm able to dodge imposter syndrome. Plus, I can turn it off when the day is done. What more could you want?
Alright tagging folks who I apology to if you've already done this. @moodandmist, @bookish-bogwitch, @martsonmars, @chen-chen-chen-again-chen, @palimpsessed, @stardustasincocaine, @mostlymaudlin, @captain-aralias, @skeedelvee, and @raenestee.
#i don't know what to label this as#probably as too much info for someone who is weird about internet security

The Garden of Eden Is Lost Like This
Xuefeng
(Translation edited by Jiejing)
I have two German Shepherds, belonging to the military dog breed. One of them is named "Lunbei," and the other is called "Lanbo." Whenever the night is deep and quiet, I enjoy taking a leisurely stroll on the lawn in my courtyard, which is even bigger than a soccer field, and ponder in tranquility. During this time, the two dogs joyfully run around me, both guarding the courtyard and providing me solace. Due to their loyalty, I treat them well. They receive meat every day, and their monthly food expenses are at least 200 Yuan. I bathe them once every two weeks, and I never scold or beat them. There exists a harmonious and mutually beneficial relationship between humans and animals.
Three months ago, my animal-loving wife brought home a small pet from a friend. Its scientific name is West Highland White Terrier, belonging to the small hunting dog breed. These dogs have a small size but are highly alert and intelligent. They are capable of both being affectionate and understanding human emotions. Due to their likable and adorable nature, they often live indoors with humans and enjoy all the luxuries and comforts of a dog's life.
The next day, my partner bought a large circular plastic basket specifically for it, lined with a thick layer of old window screen folded into a "mattress" inside. The little dog lies on it, and the level of comfort is no less than me lying on a memory foam bed. To address the issue of the pet's waste, my partner deliberately found a large box made of hard cardboard with only a three-inch high edge. Inside, she laid a layer of clean sand as the dog's "bathroom." Everything was prepared, and only enjoyment remained.
Unfortunately, this little dog doesn't use its "bathroom" and insists on urinating and defecating on the carpet My partner searched for information, sought advice from experts, and repeatedly tried to train and guide the dog, but it remained stubborn and unchanged. Helplessly, we had no choice but to let it spend the night outdoors with "Lunbei" and "Lanbo."
The treatment it should have enjoyed has been lost. Who should we blame?
Do we as humans also experience the same kind of sadness as our dog?
There was a tall and strong African man named Paul. He, along with his spouse and two underage children, lived in a less than 10-square-meter room made of old wooden boards, in a very pitiful condition. When I spoke with him, I discovered that he was psychologically and mentally stable. Moved by sympathy and compassion, I invited their entire family to live with me. I assigned Paul to manage the garden and clean the courtyard, so that he could earn a wage through meaningful labor, enough to provide a relatively normal life for his whole family.
A month passed, yet the weeds in the courtyard remained unattended, and the flowers continued to wilt. When I was at home, I often saw Paul squatting to weed, but as soon as I left, I discovered he had gone back to sleep. I assumed Paul didn't enjoy this task, so I brought him to the store to handle cleaning and organize merchandise. However, after a week, the dust accumulated, and the store appeared even more disorderly. What is the reason? Upon observing, I noticed Paul spent a considerable amount of time cleaning rags. He'd stand by the sink, dedicating an hour to washing a single rag. Feeling helpless, I assigned him as a security guard at the club, providing him with a brand-new security uniform that suited his tall stature. He looked remarkably enthusiastic, unable to wipe the smile from his face. I assumed this would finally please him. I briefed him on his duties, specifically instructing him on handling disruptive individuals and theft incidents. However, much to my surprise, he still didn't put much effort into his work. He would stand at the entrance like a statue. When a thief took the camera, he lacked the courage to even ask a question...
Feeling utterly helpless, I had no choice but to ask Paul and his family to leave, allowing them to fend for themselves outside.
Such examples have occurred more than twenty times in my vicinity alone.
How was Eden lost? It wasn't because God was unjust, or the deities lacked compassion. It was because we as humans are unworthy of living in Eden. We do not deserve it.
I had a colleague who, a few years ago, begged me to send him an invitation letter to help him do business abroad. Despite the difficulty of the situation, I actively assisted him in handling various procedures. When everything was ready and only the departure for overseas remained, he became arrogant and boastful. In a dark corner with his group of friends, he started devising an evil plan. First, they belittled me, saying, "He, a nameless and insignificant pawn in the company, can survive overseas only because of the government's support! If he can survive abroad, aren't we all better than him?!" They then developed a detailed plan on how to initially rely on my assistance to establish themselves overseas, and subsequently, how to kick me aside and surpass me. Upon hearing this news, I immediately sent him a fax message: "There has been a change in circumstances, and I am unable to accommodate you temporarily. Let's discuss this in the future."
How was Eden lost? The expulsion of Adam and Eve from Eden had special reasons, but one factor was their own actions—disobeying the rules and taking the forbidden fruit.
When individuals face misfortune, the majority of people's initial reaction is to seek various reasons to absolve themselves. They can always find "sufficient" reasons to blame the heavens, the earth, society, and others, but they rarely look within themselves for the causes.
When humanity as a whole faces misfortune, many people begin to blame the Greatest Creator, gods and Buddhas, unwilling to look for reasons within human moral behavior. Alternatively, they may pray to the Greatest Creator , gods and Buddhas, seeking salvation for humanity, yet they are reluctant to reflect on their own actions and make necessary changes for self-improvement.
The old Eden has been lost, and the new Eden has long been established, with its gates open to everyone. My disobedient little dog would certainly not be able to enter Eden. Paul, being lazy and irresponsible, an unproductive individual, cannot be allowed into Eden. Despite my colleague's active pursuit, their intentions are impure, and I cannot permit them to enter the sacred Eden.
The blind cannot see the blue sky, so they claim there is no sky. The deaf cannot hear sounds, so they say rivers have no ripples. Those without spiritual awareness cannot see God, so they say there is no Eden.
God loves the humble, and Buddha enlightens those with affinity. As for the rest, they are like Paul, destined to fend for themselves.

WASTED SUMMERS ୨୧ S.JY
prologue [✎] wc: 3820. not proofread.
IT WAS THE summer before you left for college.
it was sunny outside, the harsh rays of sun beaming down on the ground, occasionally casting shade behind taller trees. the air felt hot and suffocating.
you hated the summer.
you were sprawled out on the grass, relishing in the shade that the tree cast. the slight breeze you would feel against your skin felt refreshing.
“you’re not even watching me play,” your best friend whined. he had jogged up to you with his soccer ball held against his hip, pouting down at you.
you pried open your eyes, huffing. “it’s too hot, jake,” you sat up, leaning against the tree. “i want to go back inside.”
the indoors were so much better. there was air conditioning and you could sleep comfortably in your bed. jake, however, preferred the outdoors. he claimed that the sun was healthy for you and it was good to get some exercise. he wasn’t wrong, of course. you simply hated everything about the summer.
“just another half hour? then we can go back inside?” you weren't sure if you could handle another half hour in the scorching hot weather, but seeing his slight pout, you gave in. sim jaeyun, you witch.
“whatever,” you mumbled. you plucked the grass, avoiding his eyes. but you knew him, he was your best friend. you knew he was grinning at you.
“but actually watch me this time!” he huffed, his smile never disappearing. “i learned a new trick and i want you to see it.” before you could respond, he went running back to the soccer field, dropping his ball along with him. he dribbled his ball to where he wanted it and that was when you realized that you rarely ever watched him play or practice soccer before. despite being close friends for years, you barely saw him playing on the field.
sitting back against the tree, your eyes observed his movements. he had the ball on the tip of his foot, somehow balancing it just fine. you watched him quickly lift his foot, launching the ball into the air. when you blinked, the ball was already accelerating towards the net. he was fucking fast.
he would have so much potential in college.
he turned to look at you, a proud smile plastered on his face. he wanted to show off to you, to show you how much he had improved since the beginning of your last year in high school.
you returned his smile, showing off your teeth; a toothy smile. you were impressed, jake was simply amazing. you always knew he was amazing. you heard whispers and murmurs about him in the girl’s bathroom all the time, talking about how hot he was, how many points he scored at a game, and the list goes on.
no matter how popular jake was, he was still your best friend. he was still your number one supporter, your ride or die, your home. you got special treatment he didn’t give to anyone else.
that was probably why you grew to be so selfish.
“that was cool,” you slightly clapped as he jogged up to you again. instead of standing over you, he sat down next to you, leaning against the tree.
he hummed in response. “really? just ‘cool’?” he turned his head to look at you with that stupid smile of his. it was stupid how he was able to make your stomach flip and turn. it was stupid how he was able to make your breath hitch. “i thought it was more than cool. i practiced a lot just to show you.”
this was all stupid. he was your best friend, you shouldn’t be feeling this way.
“you practiced… just to show me?”
he eagerly nodded. “i wanted to impress you.”
was he not aware that you were already so impressed by him? he managed to get a full ride to his dream college because he was smart and the fact he played soccer. how could you possibly not be proud of him?
“you impressed me long ago, jake,” you chuckled. you yawned shortly after and proceeded to rest your head against his shoulder. this was common — physical touch — but you relished in it. it never failed to make your heart beat faster.
he laughed. he picked up your hand, tracing shapes on the back of your hand. “are you tired?”
you hummed. “a little. i want to go inside.” you could feel jake hold your hand before standing up to his feet. he pulled you up with him, holding onto your arm for support.
“let's go inside early, then,” he murmured. he began walking to the door of your house, hands still interlocked.
it was times like this when you wondered if jake knew what he was doing to you. surely he should have seen how rosy your cheeks get when he holds your hand like this, or when he treats you as if it was only you that mattered to him.
you knew everything didn't mean anything more. after all, he was your best friend and he would never see you as anything more.
the last few remaining days of the summer finally dawned on the two of you. you were both getting ready to move into your dorms, which meant your meetings would happen less often.
he was going to college an hour away from yours.
an hour wasn’t too bad, you told yourself. the distance between you and jake would be bearable. you two would still be the same best friends from when you were both 6 years old. everything was going to be okay.
but it wasn’t. it wasn’t okay.
you had never been far apart from jake ever. you had grown and gotten used to him being a part of your daily life. you were used to him randomly coming to your house and vice versa. you couldn’t handle being so far away from him.
when it finally dawned on you that you would see him less now that college was starting, you knew you had to take the risk.
now that you both were leaving, you would feel regretful if you didn’t at least tell jake your feelings, even if it would ruin things between you. your feelings clouded your judgment and actions whenever they came to him. you decided you were going to confess to your best friend.
nestled up in jake’s bed, you eyed the suitcases lying in the corner of his room. his room looked emptier, yet still quite lively. he still had his lego sets, some gifted by you, on his shelves. he kept all of the posters in his room, the corners beginning to peel off on some of them from being so old.
he did, however, take the dog plushie you had gifted him on his 16th birthday. he claimed that he wanted to bring a piece of you with him since you would be farther away from him. he was so sweet to you. he treated you so well.
that was why you fell for him.
“jake,” you murmured, “you’re leaving tomorrow, right?” he turned to face you from his gaming computer, pausing his game. he slowly nodded.
“mmm? yeah, i am,” he took his headset off his head and placed them on his desk. “we should do something since i’m leaving.” he got up from his chair and plopped down on his bed, looking at you fondly.
please, don’t look at me like that.
you thickly swallowed, rolling over to get a better look at him. “we could…” you shyly began, “we could take a trip to busan for a day… if that’s too much trouble, then—“
“you talk too much,” jake teased. he playfully rolled his eyes at you, ruffling your hair. you felt your skin tingle at his touch. “going to busan with you sounds like so much fun. it's perfect.” going to busan with you was perfect? god, you were going to die. you momentarily froze up, silently staring at him with slightly parted lips. he always knew the right words to say to you.
the sun had long set and you and jake were back in his room, this time sitting in front of his computer. he sat on his chair and you were sat on his lap. completely normal. not intimate. nothing more… so you told yourself.
unfortunately (or fortunately) for you, that was quite common between you two. it was clear that it didn’t mean anything other than friendship and you learned to live with that.
with his arms wrapped around you to hold you steady and his chin propped on your shoulder, how could it possibly not mean anything? how could two best friends do this for one not to get the wrong idea?
you couldn’t pay attention to the movie you chose on his computer screen, simply because your mind was occupied with another matter.
you two planned that you were going to sleep over and send him off to college the next morning, so pulling an all-nighter was agreed upon by the both of you. jake chose to have a little movie marathon first and let you choose the movie.
“i’ll never see you ever again after this,” you mumbled, tears prickling your eyes. you didn’t expect to get this emotional sending him off, but you couldn’t help it. you had run over this scenario so many times last night, hoping to at least not cry in front of him. however, that turned out to be in vain.
“we’ll see each other again, idiot,” he smiled. he set his bag down on the ground and embraced you in a bone-crushing hug. “but i’ll miss you so much.” he rubbed your back in a comforting manner, holding you tightly against him.
“jake,” you murmured, your voice wavering slightly. “we have to meet up every weekend. we have to.” with your face nuzzled against him, you couldn’t see his face. maybe it was better off that way. he didn’t reply but still rubbed your back.
once you two pulled away, that was then you thought was a good time to tell him your feelings. your feelings for him that seemed to never stop growing. it was becoming intoxicating.
you sadly smiled at him. “jake, i actually have something important to tell you before you leave.”
his smile vanished, his heartbeat quickening. he knew what was happening. he was afraid and unprepared for the next events to unfold, and so he choked up. “yeah, what’s up?”
you quickly wiped your tears away. “i like you, jake. its becoming suffocating for me because i just— i just like you so much and i don’t know what to do about it,” before he could even think of a response, you continued. “i’m always happier when i’m with you.”
that was what he was dreading to hear.
his silence followed along by his slight frown told you all you needed to know. your sad smile quickly turns into an apologetic one. “i’m sorry, maybe that’s… that’s not what you wanted to hear before you leave.”
he slowly nodded. “yeah, i’m sorry, yn. i’m going away today.”
your heart felt like it was going to burst. you wanted to cry.
“we can still work things out, right? you’re only an hour away and—“
“i’m sorry, yn. i can’t do the distance. besides,” he looked away, gripping the handle of his suitcase tighter. “i’ll be busy with my studies and soccer. i can’t just drive up an hour to see you every week.”
your world felt like it was crashing down. you tried your best to grasp onto the straws, to at least salvage something. “i can! i can drive up, jake!” you knew you sounded desperate, but god, you didn’t know what to do.
he shook his head, his frown deepening. “no, yn, i just can’t,” your heart felt like it was breaking. tears prickled your eyes once more and you looked down at the ground in embarrassment. you needed it to swallow you whole. “i don’t want to do the distance and i don’t see myself committing to it if we did.”
a tear rolled down your face. was that how he always felt? did he feel like he wouldn’t be able to commit to your friendship, too?
jake could see your heart breaking with every word he was telling you. it was breaking him too, but this was for the best. it was better for the two of you.
you were biting back more tears, swallowing a lump down your throat. “i… i understand,” you choked out. “have fun in college. keep in touch.” you spared him one more glance before walking away from him, tears silently rolling down your face.
he told you the things you wanted to hear, but you told him the things he dreaded to hear.
it had been seven months since you confessed and you could confidently declare that jake did not care about keeping in touch.
mindlessly scrolling through your messages with him, you could tell he didn’t want to be speaking to you. he would send you only a few messages a day, each of them were answering questions you asked.
in short, he was texting you to just text you. he didn’t care about losing contact with you.
it felt like a slap in the face. did everything you two did mean nothing to him? did 12 years of friendship mean nothing to him? how could he throw it all away just because of a mere confession? why didn’t he bother talking things out with you?
you sat on your dorm bed, blankly staring at your phone screen. you wanted to cry, but you felt like you had already cried enough over him.
“yn? you good?”
you slightly jump. you let out a sigh once you realized it was karina, your roommate. “mmm? yeah, i’m fine. why?” you shut your phone off, tossing it further away from you.
“you look like you just got broken up with,” she shrugged, walking over to you to sit on your bed. “everything okay?”
whatever was going on between you and jake wasn’t so far off from a breakup, you’d say.
“i’m fine, just some… some things going on back home.”
she nodded understandingly. her hand reached for your knee to rub it, comforting you. “i’m sorry,” she frowned, “there’s actually something i want to invite you to, and maybe it can take your mind off of things for a bit.”
you slightly tilted your head at her, waiting for her to continue. “jeno has a soccer game with our rival school next week and he wanted me to invite my other friends.”
jeno and karina. two best friends. if you said you weren’t jealous of them, you would be lying. their friendship was just like yours and jake’s, though you were sure none of them had feelings for the other. you envied that.
not giving it much thought, you agreed. “i can probably go, yeah.”
on the game day, you were able to meet jeno and his friends that were playing on the team. there were two other guys: jaemin and jisung. they were roughly the same age, with jeno and jaemin being a year older. jisung was around your age, making you two in the same year.
you were able to bond with jisung quite quickly, with both of your odd obsessions (what karina calls it) with legos being the reason. you were quickly enamored by his shy personality, seeing how it was cute and endearing.
being seated on the benches, you and karina eagerly watched all the players lining up. “by the way, rina,” you turned to look at her. “what’s the rival university?”
she nearly gasped at you. “you mean you don’t know?” her hands were covering her mouth and she dramatically blinked at you. “it’s hybe university!”
hybe university.
“oh, really?” awkwardly chuckling, you glanced back down at the field. “i didn’t know.” you looked at each player on your university’s team, quickly noticing jeno, jaemin, and jisung.
your eyes darted over to your university’s rival’s team. as much as you didn’t want to admit it to yourself, you were looking through the players to find jake— if he was even on the team at all. you were sure he was, considering you saw he posted his team on his instagram a while back.
you didn't know why you still had him on all social media, especially since he unfollowed you. what a joke.
suddenly, the rival university’s crowd erupts into screams and cheers. the noise was almost deafening. you cringed, glancing towards karina to see she was huffing. “what’s that for? is the game starting?”
she shook her head. she pointed down at the field. “no, it’s that guy over there,” your eyes followed her finger. you squinted your eyes. finding specific players from where you were was a little difficult. and yet, you were still able to see him. there he was, the man you’d been dreading to see after all those months; sim jaeyun. in a field full of players, you were still able to see him. “he’s like — super popular in his school.”
you froze up. all you could muster was a slight nod. you tore your eyes away from him, afraid that if you were to stare any longer, you would burst into tears. digging your nails into your palms, you let out a shaky exhale.
“oh, the game is starting!” she grinned. “look! jeno is on the starting lineup!” her voice was full of excitement and it was obvious to everyone just how supportive she was of her best friend, just like how you once were, too.
you mustered up a small smile, nodding at her. “mhm, that’s nice.”
you were jealous of karina.
the crowd supporting your university erupted into cheers as the buzzer went off. the score read 4-3, in favor of your university’s team. you laughed along with karina, who was giggling and clapping in joy. you understood the hype about watching sports, the adrenaline and suspense felt so good. you were gripping onto the edge of your seat when your team came close to the net, only to cheer when they did end up making the goal.
“their number 12 is good,” karina was practically yelling over the loud cheers. “he scored all of the points. it's called a hat trick, by the way.”
you knew that already. jake told you before.
nodding along with your words, you leaned closer to her ear, also yelling. “do you know him?” she shook her head, somehow not suspicious of your question.
“no, but i know of him. his name is sim jaeyun, but he goes by jake.” she slightly tilted her head. “i don’t think jeno, jaemin, or jisung like him.” now this made you perk up. as far as you knew, jake wasn’t an unlikable person. he was always so sweet to people, so hearing that piqued your interest.
“really? why?”
she shrugged. “I don’t know, jeno never told me, though i’d love to know why,” she suddenly stood up, watching you repeat her movement. “let’s go down to the locker room to meet them,” when she was met with your awkward stare, she cleared her throat. “i meant outside the room.”
“you guys played so well!” karina cheered. she grinned at the three sweaty men who were still in their soccer jerseys. the room outside the locker rooms was fairly empty, considering how most of the players were taking a shower or had left to shower in the dorms instead. you nodded along with her, quietly agreeing.
“i didn’t get to score any points, though,” jeno huffed. he pushed his hair, wet from sweat, away from his face. “i only dished out assists.”
jaemin laughed, “it’s okay to admit that you're getting worse, you know?” jeno rolled his eyes, slightly pushing him.
you glanced at the other door leading to the rival team’s locker room. you shuddered, the realization that jake was just a door away from you dawning on you. jisung watched you, his eyes following your gaze. “oh, are you worried about the other team?” you awkwardly laughed, shaking your head. you were worried about jake, not his team. “if you are, we can leave now if you like.”
you shook your head again. “it’s all good, no worries.”
It seemed like luck wasn’t on your side as the door opened, revealing an exhausted jake. he was wearing a simple hoodie and sweats, water from his hair slightly dripping onto his hoodie. your breath hitched. you felt your heartbeat pick up, your words getting stuck in your throat. you uncomfortably shifted when he awkwardly paused, looking at your group. his eyes landed on jeno, jaemin, and jisung first before they landed on you.
it had only been seven months, but god did it feel like it had been forever since you last saw him. you swallowed a lump down your throat and exhaled a shaky breath of air. your hands were shaking slightly as you dug your nails into the palms of your hands.
“you played well today,” jaemin mumbled. “nice hat trick.” now you understood what karina meant when she told you that they did not like each other because the tension was incredibly thick in the air. jaemin’s compliment felt insincere — as if he said that just to fill the awkward silence that crept up in the room.
jake slowly nodded, his eyes still trained on you. “thanks.”
you remembered going through different things in your head to say to jake once you saw him again, but now seeing him, you felt your words getting stuck in your throat. you had so much to say to him, but now that he was right there, your mind blanked. he seemed to always have that effect on you.
“you — um,” you began, your nails more painfully digging into your skin. you felt eyes on you, and gosh, that made you regret speaking up. “you did the thing.” the trick he showed you months ago. the trick he made you watch. you noticed he did that during the game, albeit way better now.
he slowly nodded, processing the deeper meaning of your words. he seemed to understand what you meant right away. “you noticed?”
“i guess,” you mumbled. “it looks better now.” you were sure your friends were confused. jisung and jaemin looked between you and jake, trying to discern what was going on. karina was probably the most confused, remembering how you asked her who that number 12 was.
“thanks, yn,” he tightly smiled at you. he dug his hands into the pockets of his sweatpants, turning away from your group. he sent you a slight wave before walking off. “see you later.”
“so you wanted to act dumb during the game, huh?”

maybe confessing to your best friend, sim jaeyun, the day before he left for college wasn’t the best idea. but when your roommate invites you to see the university’s soccer game against its rival school, you’re suddenly hit with nostalgia when your eyes land on your ex-best friend.

Behind The Scenes - Chapter 20: A Day Out With Friends.
🎬🎥 🎬🎥 🎬🎥 🎬🎥 🎬🎥 🎬🎥 🎬🎥 🎬
August 17, 2008.
Steven was walking with Ameythest to her baseball practice. Her father had dropped them off, Ameythest could take her bike, but Steven didn’t have one, so they couldn’t ride bikes together.
Steven and Amethyst arrive at the baseball field, her team is already there, and there are eight other girls there, nine including herself. Steven walked onto the red sand, Ameythest grabbed her gear which was a metal baseball bat and a glove. The glove was on the baseball bat, and the bat was being carried on Ameythest’s shoulder.
“Hey, Amy!” Her friend named Samantha called to her.
“Hey, Sam!”
Samantha or Sam, was a sixteen-year-old girl, Steven sees her. She is a girl with straight, medium-length brown hair, tied back into a ponytail. She is depicted wearing a white baseball jersey and blue jeans. The girl is standing in front of them, chewing gum and looking at them with a gentle smile, conveying a sense of warmth and approachability.
“Aww, who is this?” Sam said.
“I didn’t know you had siblings, Ames.”
“I don’t, this is my friend, Steven.”
“Hey, Steven. you came here to watch?” Steven nodded, and then he saw someone walk out.
The woman is characterized by long, wavy brown hair that is tied back in a ponytail. Her attire consists of a black baseball jersey that says their team name — The Agoura Amazons, With her arms to the sides of her body, she exudes a sense of self-assuredness and poise.
“Geodestone!”
“Yes, coach?”
“Here, your uniform came in.” She said handing her a red baseball uniform with a picture of their logo on the left side of the jersey. A stone sword was placed there to symbolized their team. And in cursive it said 'The Agoura Amazons’ in white script.
“Coool! I’ll go change!” She said going into the bathroom and changing out of her New York Yankees uniform and into her new one.
She walks out of the bathroom, holding her uniform and handing it to Steven.
“Can you give this to my dad?” She asked handing her old clothes to Steven.
He nodded and ran off the baseball field and to a silver 2008 GMC Sierra 1500, he opened the front seat. Adrain wasn’t in there. Steven shrugged it off and placed it in the front seat and closed the door.
“Alright, girls! Let’s do some batting practice. No running around the bases just hit the ball and walk back to the bleachers!” Their coach announced. "Amy you up!” Ameythet walked up to home base and raised her bat.
Sam walked up to the pitcher's mound and pitched the ball to her, she hit it with a metal clink and watched it go. Ameythest walked back to the bleachers and sat down, Steven saw her.
“You like this sport do you?”
“Eh, it keeps me busy. But yeah. I like it, what sports do you like?”
Steven had an answer. “I like basketball more than Baseball. It’s too. What’s the word…Time-consuming.” he said, careful not to make the purple gem upset that he was ridiculing her favorite sport, but it was his opinion.
“Ah, that’s okay dude. I don’t like soccer, I think it’s lame.” Steven laughed at that.
“Hockey is cool though,” she said, Steven nodded, he agreed that hockey was cool. He would love to go to a hockey rink and play with her, Garnet, and Pearl. But he wouldn’t think Pearl wouldn't like hockey much, His mother would probably kick butt at Hockey, just like she kicked butt at Basketball and baking.
Steven had such a cool mom!
“Hey, Amy. How was baseball practice?” Adrain asked as Steven and Amethyst closed the door.
“It’s good, oh. Sam is coming,” she said. Adrain nodded as she saw a girl holding her Nike duffel bag and she put it in the truck bed, Sam opened the back door and climbed inside.
🎬🎥 🎬🎥 🎬🎥 🎬🎥 🎬🎥 🎬🎥 🎬🎥 🎬
Steven, Amethyst, Sam, and Adrain all went to Burger King to get some food.
Steven looked at the restaurant, his eyes got starry as he had a huge grin on his face.
“Can I play in the indoor playground, Mr. Geodestone?”
“Sure, I don’t see why not,” he said, walking inside. The smell of chicken tenders hit Steven’s nose, he felt his stomach growl.
“I never knew how hungry I was.” Steven blushed, then looked at the menu.
“Um…I can’t have any of this.”
“Why?”Adrain asked
“I’m vegetarian. Been one since I was six.”
“Your parents okay with that?” he asked. Steven nods.
“Okay, we can get your food later. Have anything in mind?”
“Pizza?”
“You got it, dude, " he said, fist-bumping Steven.
“Thanks,” he said, Adrain nodded and pulled out his wallet to get Amethyst and Sam their food.
“Sam, Ames. I’m going with Steven to get pizza across the street, are you sure you guys will be okay by yourselves?”
“Yeah.”Ameythest nods. Sam looked at them and nodded also. Adrain and Steven walk out of Burger King to get pizza across the street, Steven looks at the geography and palm trees in the state. Steven thought that it was beautiful here, and he hoped to live here one day.
They walked inside a pizza restaurant, Steven got a slice with mushrooms and a bottle of water.
They sat down and Steven ate his food.
They both went back to the Burger King and Steven walked up to his friend. “Ameythest, let’s play in the play in the play place!” he said, pointing to the small enclosed section that had slides that extended to the outside.
“Sure, dude!” She said, taking off her cleats. Steven removed his shoes and they ran inside to play. They played until it was time to go home.
🎬🎥 🎬🎥 🎬🎥 🎬🎥 🎬🎥 🎬🎥 🎬🎥 🎬
Steven was dropped off at Garnet’s house, and Greg and Rose were both inside the house. Steven opens the door, there is nowhere to be seen. “Mom, Dad?” he calls out.
Silence
Mmm, weird. Maybe their out back?
Steven opened the door to the back and they weren’t there. He took out his phone and texted them to see where they at.
Oh, they went to the store with Garnet. Okay…
Steven went up to his room and grabbed his light pink Nintendo DS. The boy walked to the couch, opened it, and played on it until they came home.
Steven hears the front door open, Garnet, Rose, and Greg walk in carrying shopping bags. “Oh, Steven. Could you help us?” Steven nods and goes outside and helps them.
"So, when are you leaving?” Garnet asked them.
"Steven, something came up and we have to go home tomorrow, We can spend our last night in LA with everyone," Rose said.
“Even Lucas can come! please?” Steven asked, Rose and Greg both nodded. Steven smiles. Garnet walks to the house carrying stuff. Steven followed her inside. Garnet opens a pair of glass doors. Steven sees her office. And an electric piano was in the corner of the room. Steven put the stuff down after seeing her placing some of the items down on her desk.
“Thank you, Steven. But you know that I could do it myself.”
Steven nods. “I know, but I like to help.”
“I know you do,” she said, ruffling his curly hair. Steven giggled as he hugged her leg. Garnet smiled and picked the boy up off the floor.
“Let’s go,” she said, walking out of her office. They both walked to the living room and went to the couch, Garnet set him down, and Steven looked at the remote.
“Hey, Garnet?”
“Yes, Steven?”
“Can I watch cartoons?” he asked. Garnet nodded and he turned on the TV and switched it to Cartoon Network, Chowder was playing now.
“Yes! I love Chowder!” he said, Rose sat on the couch with him, Steven smiled and wrapped an arm around his mother and leaned on her shoulder as they watched.
🎬🎥 🎬🎥 🎬🎥 🎬🎥 🎬🎥 🎬🎥 🎬🎥 🎬
Steven was getting dressed, He went into the closet and took out a pink polo shirt, and then he wore white jeans and his Pink Jordans. He fixed his hair in the bathroom, then walked out.
“Steven? Are you ready?” Rose asked.
“Yeah!” he said. Rose saw him walk down the stairs, Rose hugged her son. Steven smiles and hugs his mom back.
Rose smiled as she bent down to kiss him on the head. “You look so handsome in that shirt, Steven,” she said, he smiled and blushed at his mother.
Steven saw his dad walk downstairs.
“Steven, put a jacket on, you're going to be cold out there,” Greg told the boy, Rose nodded. Steven walked back upstairs and grabbed his brand new pink leather jacket that Pearl bought him for his birthday.
“Wow, Steven, you look nice,” Rose said. The boy smiled, and Rose looked at him. Steven smiled and blushed.
Steven leaned on the kitchen counter, waiting for Garnet and his father. Rose walked to the kitchen. Opened the fridge and grabbed a bottle of water.
Steven saw her put the water down and he took it and took a sip also. Rose thought of what that waiter said back at the diner two months ago. Steven looks at her.
“Mom, are you alright?” Her son asked, Steven saw his mother smile and nod.
“Everything is fine, Steven.” She told her son, Steven nods. Then, someone walked downstairs. Greg walked down with a blue long-sleeved shirt ripped jeans and a pair of red Converse.
Garnet walks downstairs also. She grabs her keys.
“Ready to go guys?” She asked fixing her visor. Steven nods and runs to the door and opens it.
Rose and Greg went out of the house and into her car.
🎬🎥 🎬🎥 🎬🎥 🎬🎥 🎬🎥 🎬🎥 🎬🎥 🎬
Steven sees the lights on Hollywood Bulvard and he sees people walking down the Walk Of Fame. Steven sees a restaurant up ahead, Garnet parks at the curb, and they all step out of the car, Garnet sees a blue 2008 BMW pull up with the top down from across the street.
Pearl was here with Ameythest. Ameythest stepped out and walked across the street to meet with them.
“Ameythest!” Rose said, giving her a high five.
“Sup?”
“So, ready to go in?” Greg asked.
“We need to wait for Her Majesty,” Ameythest said rolling her eyes, then looking at Pearl putting the top up, getting out of the car then locking it.
Pearl walked up, she wore a pair of white jeans, a cyan-blue sleeveless crop top, and a pair of black high heels.
“You look amazing, Pearl!” Rose complimented her. Pearl blushes and looks at her, Greg grabs his wife’s hand.
“We should go inside,” Amethyst said, walking into the restaurant.
Rose sees a man, who has short dark hair and is dressed in a brown blazer over a light blue shirt. His posture indicates that he is standing outdoors, with a blurred background suggesting greenery and possibly some buildings or structures. He appears to have a neutral or slightly thoughtful expression on his face and is gazing off to the side, indicating an introspective or contemplative mood. Overall, he presents as well-groomed, composed, and engaged in his surroundings.
She then sees another male. The man appears to be older, with short, graying hair. He is dressed in a formal dark suit jacket over a collared shirt, paired with a matching dark tie. The lighting emphasizes his face, which displays a neutral to serious expression. His attire suggests a formal or professional context.
“Oh my stars, It’s Ryan Renolds and Robin Williams!” she was trying not to scream at the restaurant, Greg smiled softly at her. Rose lets go of her husband’s hand and walks over to them, sitting at a soft bench, waiting to be seated at their table.
“Hey, Ryan. Look, we have a fan.” Robin said, gouging Ryan with his elbow. The man looked up and stared at her gem, and then he lifted his head and saw the woman.
“Woah, you're tall!” Robin said.
“Yeah, I get that a lot.”
Greg walks up to his wife and puts his hands on her arm. “Hello!” he said, the two actors waved back.
“Oh your table is ready.” the hostess told the two men, Robin and Ryan both got up, and Rose and the others stood, waiting for their table.
“Greg, your table is ready.” the hostess said, grabbing six menus. They followed the woman to a table that sat six people. Steven sat next to Ameythest. They all sat down.
Rose felt something uneasy, she turned her head to see her friend, Pearl sitting next to her. Greg looks at her.
“Uhhh, you okay, Pearl?” he asked the tall gem. Pearl nodded and grabbed a menu to pit it over her face, Rose shrugged it off, and Greg thought it was weird that Pearl was doing this.
Steven and Amethyst both sat next to each other, Steven saw Pearl sitting by with his mother. “Uh… Pearl?” Steven asked, Pearl looked at him.
“Yes, Steven?”
“Are you okay? You looked cramped.”
“What is it that you mean, Steven?” Pearl asked.
“Oh boy…” Garnet said, looking at her menu, she wasn’t going to be a part of this.
“Well, you're sitting extremely close to Mom.” he pointed out, Rose tried to get her hands off her arm. “Dude, you can stop holding me,” Rose asked her, Greg was feeling uncomfortable also.
“Um… Because we were friends for a long time, Steven. I told you this once.”
Sure, friends. Steven thought, reading his menu.
Then, a waiter walked up. They placed their orders for drinks and put in a large Caesar salad without chicken.
Steven took out DS from his pocket and started playing Mario. Ameythest looks at him playing, Steven looks back and hands his DS to his friend.
“Do you want to play?” he asked. Ameythest nods and plays on his DS.
They got their food and they were now eating.
“So, are you excited for school, dude?” Her friend said. Steven looks at Amythest.
“Yeah, are you? Aren’t you going to be on the basketball team also this year?”
“That’s amazing, Amy!” Rose said. She nodded, crossed her arms, and looked away.
“Is Sam going to be there? like she’s going to be on the same team?” Steven asked. Ameythest nods. Steven hugs her.
“I’m so happy for you, Ames!” Steven said. She smiled and hugged her friend back.
Steven, Rose, and Greg said goodbye to Pearl and Ameythest, they were going back home tomorrow, Steven hugged both Pearl and Ameythest and told them that he would see them next time.
Steven went to his room, he looked at his suitcase already packed up. He sighed. He was happy to go home finally but, he was going to miss LA.
