1 . So I dance. A lot. I’m no professional but I’ve danced Bachata for like 3 years now and am staff in a local dance club. I also dance Zouk which I doubt anyone here knows of and it’s hella fun. It started out with my friend hooking me in and riling up two other friends of mine, though stuff happened and now I’m on my own lol. Apparently I was always good at it, just took the right thing to get myself invested in.
2 . Unlike mostly everyone else in this stupid country, I never had a minute to rest during quarantines. I have military training as a combat medic and, when the first outbreak hit, I was immediately enlisted as a medic to deal with corona panic. This repeated every quarantine period we had here. I was unemployed at the time so that was a nice source of income tbh ~
3 . I’m vegan. So I practically live off eating grass and committing photosynthesis. Mmmm, sunlight.

So I’ve been roleplaying on forum RPs for the longest time. Since I was 13-14, which makes it... 14 years now. I’ve roleplayed almost exclusively on Animanga RPs since that’s my preference tbh. I’ve had experience with combat RP, romance, adventure and just general plot-driven stuff too. So Tumblr was new to me when it came around at 2014. My first blog was an Uryu Ishida in a closed Bleach RP group, and my first indie subsequently too. Though I switched names and some of you may know me as Cricket. Ultimately my longest-running blog was a Smoker RP blog from One Piece. And now here I am!
— 𝐌𝐔𝐒𝐄 𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐅𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄
I almost exclusively play dudes. I’ve had female muses before but I’m mostly uncomfortable writing them. I also almost always played canon characters given the chance. Having no personality means I can easily insert myself in a canon’s mindset - and dare I say, I’m good at it. My preferences in characters however, seems to gravitate towards the kinds most don’t notice immediately. I usually don’t like fan-favorites and somehow end up taking... Well, idiots.
— 𝐒𝐔𝐁-𝐆𝐄𝐍𝐑𝐄𝐒
Humor. Oh my god, humor threads. Are so criminally underrated. I’m not talking crack or modern-day humor, I’m talking good-old Shinigami Illustration Book stupidity. Give me the opportunity to make you laugh with my muses’ actions and I will get so invested it’s not even funny (pun intended). Screw angsty emo kids, show me your emo kid annoyed at not being able to brood. I’ll take that any day!
Romance. Hello, I’m Red, and I’m a huge sucker for romance and shipping. I thrive off all the disgustingly cutesy stuff between two muses. From establishment to progress to encountering issues and solving them and the smallest things in like, 3 PM Saturday afternoon sitting together at the apartment listening to music on speaker. I mean of course it depends on the muse, but wow do I love my tackyness.
Fluff. I am a stern believer that angst needs a reason to happen. Fluff, or just idle day-to-day, being the norm. Reason is, most of the time I can have muses interact with other muses they never got the chance to (especially true if it’s canon muses). The best thing about it is that fluff can easily develop into angst, and depending on muse and verse, can evolve into fight threads, which I also very much miss. Speaking of which --
Combat. I’m not the best writer when it comes to combat, but I can’t help but appreciate a good fight. The tension of two muses that can actually square off, doing just that; for whatever reason. In popular fandoms, I’m honestly shocked that I barely see this kind of genre played out. We all have superpowered muses, but nobody cares to use it. So why not let loose?
— 𝐏𝐋𝐎𝐓𝐒 𝐯𝐬. 𝐌𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐒
I love both. Memes are awesome when you’re having brainfarts and can’t figure out proper muse at the time, but plotting can get you to so deep levels of muse exploration you just can’t pass it up. Memes are also inherently flawed in providing a mixed bag, which can be either underwhelming, satisfactory or fucking amazing in potential response. I think overall, I’d take plotting over memes.

Congratulations, ALEXEI! You’ve been accepted for the role of BENEDICK. Admin Rosey: Alexei, you have no idea how happy we have to have another beloved Montague, Benedick, join our ranks! It’s a difficult thing, capturing the nuances of a character within a single application -- laying out their past, present and future in a way that gives each of us a glimpse into your plans for them without revealing it all. But you managed to do it, and very successfuly too. We are so very excited that you have captured Benedick so well and we cannot wait for him to bless our dashes! I, personally, can’t wait to see what type of trouble him and tragedy you have planned for him. Please read over the checklist and send in your blog within 24 hours.
WELCOME TO THE MOB.
OUT OF CHARACTER
Alias | Alexei/Sasha
Age | 23
Pronouns | They/Them
Activity Level | I’m not really sure how to rate it on a scale of 1-10, but I’m confident that I can do 4+ replies a week and be reasonably active in a group chat. My active hours would probably be sporadically in a group chat from about 9am-2pm, and then I could be working on replies nights from 8-11pm EST. My job/general schedule has pretty steady hours.
Timezone | EST (GMT-5)
How did you find the rp?  | I told Victoria I was still indie roleplaying and she showed me this ring.
Current/Past RP Accounts | Sorry!
IN CHARACTER
Character | Battiasta Tahan - Benedick
What drew you to this character? | In Much Ado About Nothing, Benedick is written as a sarcastic actor-type, always performing to keep the crowd (and his closest friends) guessing, never showing his true face. According to Battista’s bio, he’s mostly like that in his early life, but I thought it would be interesting to explore how this kind of behavior bleeds into the more serious, quiet attitude that seems to come with more experience, more hardship, and more trauma. Is the “new” him the real one, or is it just another mask worn to ingratiate himself with those around him? I find myself drawn to him because I love to look underneath the underneath, to seek out the bare bones motivations behind people’s actions and let them spin their stories as they will.
Battista is a man that’s made many mistakes and has a lot of regrets — though maybe less than we’d think. His story is compelling, and I look forward to doing the deep dive, turning over the rocks to find the soft damp dirt beneath. I want him to have some satisfaction, and I want him to grow into someone capable of being a good friend, if not a good person.
What is a future plot idea you have in mind for the character?  |          Team Making or Team Breaking—
Battista knows how important it is to trust your team. Just like in the military, knowing that they have your back can be the difference between holding back just a second too long and ending up with a bullet to the skull, and trusting them to watch over you enough to do what you need to do. But how is a trio composed of a control freak, a wild card, and a walking dead woman supposed to function?    It’s not an area suited for his silver tongue— these people need a solid leader, dependable and strong, not someone that charms them and runs when he gets what he wants. He doesn’t want to give up, but bad blood and hard feelings pin him on one side, and a completely unreadable mystery on the other. Is it possible that he can win them over, or will his white-knuckled grip on the reins just end up bloodying all of their mouths?
        Explosive Personality—
It’s nothing personal, except when it is. Whether Battista dislikes him on principle, or out of jealousy, something about Everett Craven drives him up a wall. It would take a push for him to resort to outright premeditated murder, and he wouldn’t do it to an emissary without permission, keeping in mind the delicate position it could put the already at war families in. But, well. He certainly wouldn’t lose any sleep over it.    As for the murder weapon— what better way to win a war than with guerilla tactics? Battista isn’t an explosives expert by any means, but he knows his way around something so simple as a booby trap car bomb. With a car as well-loved as Everett’s, it’s a no-brainer to use something ignition-based as a method of assassination, as it’s almost guaranteed that he’ll be the only one caught in the blast. Almost.
Be It Spark, Inferno, Or Nothing But Ash—
No man is an island, no matter how much Battista would like to pretend that’s the case for him. With every bullet in the bodies he drops, every hit he takes, he can’t help but wonder just what it was that Genevieve Zhang saw in him the fateful night he prostrated himself before the Montague leadership that made her speak for him. He doesn’t feel it’s his place to outright ask, not yet anyway. He’s unsure if he even wants to know the truth of it.
Her opinion shouldn’t matter to him. He tells himself it doesn’t, that he’s a grown man, confident in his abilities and his place in the world. Still, the possibilities keep him up at night.
You Killed My Father, Prepare To Die—
It seems a distant dream, with all that’s happened. Nearly fifteen years since the cold December night his mother called him, incomprehensible and weeping. Since he had to go down to the morgue with her and try to identify the bloated, dirty corpse the police had pulled from the river. Someone had murdered him, cut him up so badly they could only confirm it was him by the distinctive tattoo on his left shoulder, and the scar from his ACL surgery.
They’d known it was the Capulets, sure. That’s what got him into this goddamn mess in the first place, though it helped that he knew they were hypocrites, ‘men of the people’ his shapely ass. But he knows it had to be one person to shred his face to ribbons, to strike the final blow. And he knows someone had to okay the kill order. He’s kept an ear to the ground, but it’s hard to hear anything about a nobody that was killed over a decade ago. Still, there’s the tiniest spark of hope. Some day, someone will slip. If they’re still alive, they’ll brag about killing Battista Tahan’s father, and when they do…
They won’t make it to hell in one piece.
Are you comfortable with killing off your character? | Well, Yeah. Empty Revenge isn’t a whole lot to live for.
IN DEPTH
What is your favorite place in Verona?
An odd sort of smile lingered at the corners of his lips in the aftermath of such a question, like he was unsure of whether it was allowed. He shrugged just the left shoulder, palm raised to the sky dismissively like you had asked him how his day was going, how his mother was— how was it ever, yeah? What did it matter, where his favorite place was? It couldn’t hurt to share, but still the answer seemed ripped from him. “The Arena.” One corner of his mouth turned further, expression shifting into something akin to bemusement, and his hand turned down to mime writing. “I like to sit in the shadow of it during the heat of the day, and try to draw.” A grimace, and then a laugh to follow. “Emphasis on ‘try’. But it’s loud, full of people going about their business. Good to people watch.” It was a far sight better than sitting on his thumbs in his empty, silent apartment, anyway. It was nice to pretend that someday he’d be able to draw more than a single line, or write more than a sparse sentence.
What does your typical day look like?
“Still can’t help but wake up at six,” the comment came off-hand, a huffed laugh out of a wide mouth quirked into something like a chagrined smile. “Drink coffee, work out. Usually sleep for another hour or so after that, if I can.” He rubbed the back of his neck, tough fingers cold against his own skin — a grounding gesture. “Outside of that, I don’t have much of a routine.” Routines make you complacent, after all. A dangerous thing to be, especially when you’re predictable as well. “I try to show my face at the usual haunts, let people know I’m alive and well. Check in on the ducklings, see what they’re up to. Do odd jobs for my landlady— she thinks I’m some fucked-up vet, guess she’s not far off.” He laughed outright at that, something biting creeping into the single bark. Silence reigned.  “I try to keep my head down, unless asked otherwise. But I do like to party.” A last wry twist of his lips. “My only vice.”
What has been your biggest mistake thus far?
His throat clicked in protest against the single dry swallow he managed — his only reply for a while. The question didn’t make him flinch, which he considered a victory. Shoulders remained straight, the line of them loose and his fingers very deliberately uncurled. Look upon him and see how unbothered he was. “Leaving my mother when I did—” Battista’s eyebrows furrowed, and he cut himself off. Softly, he continued, “no. It’s not even that, she would have wasted away with or without me there to watch.” Funny thing, that. He was glad he didn’t have to watch. “I guess it was… when I was young, I was never around. It wouldn’t have changed anything, but at least I would have known them. I was so caught up in my own. Shit, in my own faux-glamorous life, that they didn’t know me and I didn’t know them, at the end.” He shook his head, a soft huff of humorless laughter escaping. “They were the only family I ever had, no aunts or uncles or grandparents. And I don’t know a damn thing about either of them— I don’t even know if they loved each other.”
What has been the most difficult task asked of you?
“I’m good at everything.” The response was immediate, dismissive— he didn’t even lift his eyes from the phone in his hand. In the silence that followed, his brows furrowed, as he pretended to think about it further. “Well, except baking. Not very patient, you see.” The mask is near perfect, but the truth of it is this— it seems like nothing is ever easy, anymore.
What are your thoughts on the war between the Capulets and the Montagues?
Battista blinked, surprised to be asked such a question. “How do I feel about any endless war? It’s pointless and painful, and it’s getting good people killed.” The answer seemed so simple, said aloud like that. It made him grimace. “Reductive, sure. Do I wish death on every hypocritical man-of-the-people Capulet? No. Maybe more than a few, but not all. I know the Montagues aren’t saints either, singularly or as a whole.” A sardonic laugh. “And I know if it had been me that was murdered, or if it had been Daly or Rosso, King, Ivarsson — we wouldn’t have gone to war over something so destructive as pride.” His gaze grew distant for a moment, chewing the inside of his lip. The remainder of his little speech is little more than a murmur: “but I follow orders, and I keep my mouth shut, and these are the things that matter.”
In-Character Para Sample: TW; descriptive injury, death, gore
The firefight started at 0243 in the streets of a decrepit, abandoned town with crumbling buildings and dusty roads. They were on patrol with some locals— him, Rossi, the snipers they called Rana and Rospo, and a few others scattered among the buildings. Rossi was pink-cheeked and bright, sighing out great clouds of crystalline breath in the cold moonlight from the cloudless sky, making bad jokes about being a dragon. Their lack of quality couldn’t keep the small grin from Tahan’s face, something half-cocked and tucked into his collar. Rospo had asked if he’d ever seen snow with something close to incredulity in his tone, about as much expression as they’d ever seen from the man, and Rossi’s wide-eyed reply was punched out of him before he’d even had a chance to get the first word out, a fine red mist splattering onto Tahan’s face.
    Then they heard the shot.
It spurred their loose formation into action as they leaped to cover and following the trajectory of the bullet to its source. The night erupted into sound, the sharp rapport of an AK-47 in a window off to the left. Their squad returned fire, and Tahan fell into a crouch and darted the two feet separating him from Rossi, gripped the straps of his gear, and dragged him into a doorway behind a grim Rana and one of the trainees, Allaiwal. He crouched over the man and swallowed the bile that rose in his throat when he saw the damage — glassy brown eyes, no breath, an entry wound an inch under his jaw and an exit wound gaping where his brain stem should have been. He’d seen worse. He had to tell himself that to get his lungs to pull in some air, and when he licked his lips to try and wet his mouth, he could taste blood. He nearly gagged on it, but he still had a job to do.
The firefight was over before it really began. A half dozen men firing on a lone window could only miss so many times in five seconds, and when the night quieted Tahan let out a breath he hadn’t known he was holding. He carefully ran his hand over Rossi’s eyes to close them, a smear of blood left behind over a slack face. Grit his teeth, gripped his rifle. The night rang with shouted commands, suggestions, curses, and his voice cut through it all in short, barked out commands. Fan out, check for any more surprises— Rana, call for a CASEVAC, Allaiwal, you’re with me. The slighter man shadowed him with a silent nod, and everyone else jumped to their assignments.
Tahan led them to the squat building with his rifle ready, grip steady. Focused. The initial screech of the hinges on the door made him cringe, but as they stepped over the threshold and into the dark, the house remained silent. Blood was smeared on the windowsill, on the ground. Bullet holes riddled the wall behind them, and the room smelled like gunsmoke, like unwashed bodies lying in wait, like death.
    But there was no body.
They exchanged glances, Tahan’s flat, Allaiwal’s a little nervous. They didn’t speak, but as he stalked back into the night after the scattered blood trail, Allaiwal followed. Their footsteps made no sound in the streets, two hunters on the prowl under the pale moonlight, and the sounds of their team clearing the buildings behind them faded into the distance. They were breaking protocol. Nobody called them back.
The specks of blood led them out of town. His body was steady, his eyes focused, even as his head felt fizzy and light, pulse pounding somewhere high in his throat and his heart stuttering away somewhere in his chest. The wind picked up away from the shelter of the cluster of solid buildings, cutting against the skin of his cheeks, his nose, his neck. The blood led them on, great globs of clotting and widespread speckling among the scattered stones and dry dirt. The gore on his face, the bits of Rossi that still clung to his skin were drying into flakes, gumming his eyelashes and glueing his mouth shut. He breathed through his nose, though for the first time in his life the smell of copper was making his stomach roll. The trail led on, into the dark. It dried up, and he circled to look for the trail, as Allaiwal kept eyes on the ridges, looking for movement, for an ambush. Something howled in the distance. He picked up the trail fifty meters from the last spot, just as he was starting to lose something he didn’t dare call hope. They pressed on.
They found the man half by accident when Tahan nearly tumbled into the ravine that had put an end to him. Allaiwal gripped his sleeve and saved his life, roughly jerking him back and putting his feet on solid ground. The near-miss set his heart pounding once more, choking him. He stared down at the corpse as they clutched each other’s shoulders, unable to tear his eyes away from the twisted form, the broken bones, and the gaping wound in the nameless stranger’s shoulder that would have put an end to him sooner rather than later, if the fall hadn’t. He swallowed hard, and tried to feel something. Satisfaction, disgust. He couldn’t.    Allaiwal must have seen something on his face, because he stuttered something out. Tahan couldn’t understand him for a moment, blinked uselessly, realised— he was speaking english.
    “ — Sorry?”
“I said —” he swallowed hard, as the whites of his eyes seemingly took up all of his face. “Do not worry, someone will come to bury him. We should go.”
The percussive sound of a chopper echoed faintly through the valley, and he turned his gaze up to the ridge above them. There, on the edge: a lone rider on horseback, a black shape silhouetted by the moon. He raised his hand in greeting, and Allaiwal made a nervous sound behind him. The rider raised their hand back, and then turned and disappeared from view, and silence reigned, and so he thought about Rossi, being sent home to his mother in a heavy box. He thought about standing on her doorstep in Taranto with an apology on his lips and heaviness in his weary heart. It pressed on his chest, and he turned his gaze back to the corpse in the ravine, bile in his throat at the futility of a single man shooting at a six man cell, of dying alone. What was the fucking point of it all?
    Worry? I wouldn’t say worried.
It was the first clear thought he had since dragging a corpse into a cold, empty house an hour ago, and so Tahan didn’t say anything. He shrugged one shoulder, turned his back on the cooling body, and followed a similarly silent Allaiwal back to the remains of their squad in that tiny, forgotten town.
EXTRAS
Sample blog |  https://cuorepietoso.tumblr.com/
Some headcanons | He has kept a journal since he was small, scribbled words about his thoughts, messy sketches of the things he’s seen—used to love spending hours drawing people, animals, plants, items that caught his eye, and writing. Since he’s come back to Verona, he can’t seem to put a pen to paper anymore. Perhaps he should try photography? \ He’s a Capricorn sun, Scorpio moon and ascending, so at the surface he seems fundamentally responsible, serious, efficient, and rational, but deep down he’s repressed, dramatic, and cunning as hell. \ His role in the Col Moschin was Incursor-specialized Combat Medic, meaning he was good at getting into places and good at keeping things inside people where they belong. \ He’s nearing six feet and a buck seventy.

so i’m abt to make the most lacklustre intro for myself and my muse in a While.. i promise i’m not as boring as i might seem in t-2 seconds glkjsdfk but hey guys !! i’m lia, a uni student from a v bizarre tz if i do say so myself, and i am Never prepared for anything — case and point, i still haven’t changed the sidebar pic for this blog, and i only changed it to saerom’s like, an hour ago SKDGFGJDKFS i don’t have any pages up yet, but i will soon so sit tight while i sort them out ! anyways i’m literally copying my small key points thing i had for her when i was gonna use her on an indie.. but never fucking did, y’know, like a good mun ! so forgive me if they’re a little.. :/ messy skgdjkdfg so here’s my chaotic leo, a bitch who prob has a knife kink and is perhaps one of the least-liked people in her gang and beyond !!!
*✧・゚ [ PARK CHAEYOUNG, CIS FEMALE, SHE/HER ] So, KANG SAEROM, you think you have what it takes to join ROSE GOLDEN? At only TWENTY-TWO, I hope you know what it is you’re signing up for. There’s more too it than just the reputation. Being CANDID might help you out, however let’s hope they don’t get tired of you being CUNNING. Good luck to you. [ lia, 18+, gmt-3:30 ]
fun fact: i waited until some of you posted yours just in case i had to edit mine bc.. romy originally had some psychopathic tendencies ( which with her soon-to-be disclosed criminal bg is.. Yikes ) and was kinda Fucked. the look of this rp, for me at first, made me wanna scale her back a bit bc i thought she would’ve been too dark/chaotic/whatever otherwise but ! we’re sticking to the original !
ok so kang saerom is.. a piece of shit KSJGFDS
grew up in an overall loving, middle class home with her parents and big brother
baby of the family and got away with everYTHING
much of her early bg is still underdeveloped but she was a fairly average kid ??
when she grew older, she was neck deep in this desire to always get involved in dangerous shit, like
idk who or what corrupted her still.... but she got corrupted quickly GKJDS
graduated high school and p much abandoned the family, went off and decided to con people for a living for a while
not like she wasn’t lowkey scamming people back in hs however.. hs kids could scam people, idk sfgjkfd
she also dealt drugs to boot ! got in with whatever group of fellow grifters she met when moving around and rubbed elbows with a coke supplier one of them was good with and it just went from there ??
we love a businesswoman !
at some point in that stint, she found rose golden and.. yeah, that’s where she wound up fdfgj
she’s been with them for about two years and has sort of climbed up the ranks to be one of their hit(wo)men.. which makes you think “ lia, aren’t you being a bit too Cracked and making her a criminal mary sue ? ”
to which i say no......... and i’ll tell you why
can you tell that the antonio garza effect affects me too ?? anyways KSDGJGKDS
as i said, romy is That Bitch who goes to the next extreme in what she does, anything for a power trip, so the more illegal or dangerous in this case, the better
it comes from this feeling of boredom and she def got bored of the drug gig, so she thought of the other roles within the group and ?? murder sounded fun ig ?
DFKJFKL but ofc she had to be trained and shit, but she had the sneaky part down so. it involved Everything Else
but yeah, now she kills people for the gang ! fun !
which.. is kind of a jump from selling coke, sure, but nonetheless —
PERSONALITY AND SHIT
just so we’re clear, when she was younger, romy def didn’t exhibit as many of her messier traits as she does now, but she did have a way with deceit and a sort of glibness, although it could be rather genuine more than it was fake ( like it is now )
but we’re here to focus on present!romy so.... yeah dsgkjgds
one thing she isn’t is completely without self-control; she carries herself in a cool and collected way and isn’t prone to Snapping for little or sometimes good reason, emotionally or physically for that matter
but killing a man for taking the last chocolate glaze ?? not as unlikely as you’d think !
.. same can be said for taunting or challenging people
or starting a physical confrontation to prove a Point, etc
so there’s still some leeway there
p detached, couldn’t care less abt most people ( some of which might even be in rose golden but anyways )
can be promiscuous...... we’re gonna leave that there KGSDJDG
i will say that she’s sexually fluid though so !! ladies hit her up !
and men too ig........ as long as you’re not musty
she’s also rather callous and snide, clever and self-involved
v versatile ( keep her track record in mind folks ! KFSDGJGDF ) and is responsible where she thinks it counts, for example her role in the gang
she hasn’t rly felt guilty for her actions.. like ever but i wouldn’t discount such a thing as being impossible
she’s honest where it counts, and sometimes beyond that, despite her still being prone to lying ( which, y’know, is good in her situation ?? sgklgsdjf )
she def thinks she’s Somebody by now........ and try as some might, you can’t rly put her in her place from that standpoint SGDFKJFDGS
anyways i suspect the senior members of the gang get annoyed with her bc of her moments of Clear disorder so perhaps she’s on thin ice ? perhaps not ?!
so that’s everything i can think of typing for her rn, albeit p all over the place and Negative sdfkjgkdsf but if you’d like to plot, hmu ! i’m also over on discord and don’t mind giving out my username !

NPHofRPH’s Sing-Along Glossary of Roleplay Terms
The quintessential dictionary for the new RPer, or the veteran RPer who wants to get caught up on all the new-fangled slang them young folks are using.
(Note: does not actually come with any particular melody, but feel free to make one up as you go and hum it.)
1x1: A roleplay between just two people, you and your partner.
2x2: A roleplay between four characters. Not sure why it’s referred to this way. I guess the characters are all supposed to have paired up by the end of it?
4x4: Wait, are we stilling pairing them up, or can this just be eight characters?
32x32: Apparently we just like dividing by two in this neck of the woods.
Activity Check: A time when the admins go through the characters of a roleplay and make sure that they’re all still posting and haven’t run away from home.
Admin: The manager or moderator of a roleplay group; the one who’s in charge of creating the roleplay and keeping it running.
Angst: Piling on the hurt - usually emotional, sometimes physical - for your character to endure. Really fun. You should try it. Be a malevolent god.
Anon Hate: A message someone sends anonymously detailing why they despise you and what they’ve done to your mother, or threatening you in some way. Honestly, it’s hard to be threatened by that little gray fella with the sunglasses, but okay.
Apartment RP: A roleplay in which all or most of the characters live in a single apartment building.
Application: A description of your character to submit in order to be considered to join a roleplay group. Like a job interview, but not as painful.
Appless RP: A roleplay where you don’t have to fill out an application. Just insert a couple of details about your character onto a little form and you’re in. Quality may vary.
Ask Meme: A post containing a list of questions for others to send to your character.
AU: Alternate universe. This is where the characters of the work are placed in a setting or scenario not present in canon. For example, characters who are superheroes in their canon work meeting as ordinary high school students instead.
Backstory: The events of a character’s life that occurred before the beginning of the roleplay. Doesn’t have to be tragic. Is usually tragic.
Bandom RP: A roleplay in which the characters are in a band. It’s a pun, see. A portmanteau of “band” and “fandom”, I think. I’m assuming. I mean, I’m not a roleplay etymologist or anything.
Bio RP: A roleplay in which a detailed description of the character’s background and personality is required in the application.
Blogroll: A page which displays all the blogs that a user is following.
BroTP: Like an OTP (see below), except for best buddies instead of romantic partners.
Bubble Roleplaying: Roleplaying with only a select few characters or members in a group RP setting and ignoring the others.
Canon: The stuff that the original writer of a work made. For an RP group, this consists of the plot, additional info, and any characters made by the admins intended to be a part of the overall story. For other works, it’s simply everything that occurs in the work.
CBR: Could be related. Two faceclaims who could play biological family members.
Celebrity RP: A roleplay in which you play actual celebrities as characters. These exist for some reason.
Charrie: Short for character. Not to be confused with Carrie, a Stephen King novel in which a girl gets a bit power-crazy with her telekinesis.
City RP: A roleplay in which the plot takes place in a single city as its primary or only setting. Like a town RP, but the buildings are taller.
Closed Starter: A starter made for a particular blog to reply to. Sure, you can still reply to it if it wasn’t intended for you, but it’ll just lead to secondhand embarrassment for all involved.
Contained Theme: A theme that is frightened. It tries to hide from predators by curling up and making itself smaller.
Crackship: A relationship between two characters whose pairing seems unlikely or absurd.
Crackship Gifs: Gifs of two characters edited together so that it appears the characters are interacting with each other.
Crossover: A work consisting of elements from two or more works or fandoms.
Cross-tagging: Tagging a post with related things that are not actually in the post. For example, tagging a picture of Wonder Woman with ‘#superman’. Don’t do this. It’s all of the annoying.
CW: Content Warning. Same as trigger warning. See below.
Defiantly: Definitely, but misspelled.
DM: Dungeon Master. The person who is in charge of - wait, hang on, wrong type of roleplay. Sorry about that. Move along.
Drabble: Technically it’s a story of exactly 100 words, but it’s more used to just refer to a very short standalone piece about a character or characters in a particular single scenario.
Dry Docking: The opposite of shipping. When two characters who are a couple in canon are either broken up or were never together in the first place in your fan work or RP.
Event: In a roleplay group, an occurrence in the story in which all characters can participate. Also can be several days in which the verse is altered, such as a Future Week or other AU.
Exclusive: In a fandom-related independent RP, when the mun will RP with only one version of a particular character. For example, an indie RP playing Hermione Granger only interacts with a single indie Ron Weasley blog, and others who play Ron must go elsewhere.
FxF: A romantic pairing between two female characters, usually in 1x1 roleplay.
Face-chaser: Someone who pursues a roleplay or ship with a character based on their faceclaim instead of their characterization or the writing.
Faceclaim/FC: A real-life person used to represent what a roleplay character looks like.
Faceless Gifs/Images: Gifs or images that can be used in roleplaying regardless of the character’s faceclaim, since a person’s face is not visible or present in the gif or image.
Female Ban: An element in some works of dystopian fiction wherein the government or other higher power attempts to suppress a population by eliminating females and thus making it hard to procreate... Hang on, no, I’ve just been informed that it’s when an RP doesn’t allow any more female characters to be added to the group. Presumably, male bans exist too, but I think that’s just an urban legend.
First Look: A type of review based on a quick glance over the roleplay and what first impressions the reviewer gleaned from it.
Floating Timeline: A concept in roleplay that suggests that events in threads that are being written at a particular time do not necessarily take place in that time in-story. So, if a character has multiple ongoing threads, they are not actually in multiple places at once.
Fluff: Scenes that do not involve any significant obstacle and instead are intended to give the characters time to just have fun and be cute together.
Gif Chat: A type of roleplay thread in which each post is accompanied by a gif to illustrate the character.
Gif Hunt: Collection of gifs gathered from throughout tumblr or from various sources.
Gif Icons: Collection of gifs that are 100x100 pixels in size. Sometimes people make them 90x90 or 75x75 for what I can only assume are unsavory purposes. Don’t let your guard down around those things.
Gif Pack: Collection of gifs in which  all of the gifs are made by the person posting the pack, and usually are all from the same source (the same movie, TV episode, etc.)
Godmodding: Collectively refers to powerplaying, metagaming, or both. See below.
Gore: Explicit and/or graphic violence and blood. A challenge to see how many synonyms for “red” you know.
Gossip Blog: A blog affiliated with a roleplay group that talks about and passes judgment on the characters. Sometimes can be fun, if managed well, but often creates all species of drama.
Headcanon: Something that an individual or fandom believes to be true about a story or character, even though it is not shown to be the case in the canon work.
Hiatus: Taking a break from roleplaying due to real life occurrences taking priority. As if anything could be more important than finishing those replies, pfft! The nerve.
IC: In-character. The actions, thoughts, and posts of the character; the stuff that occurs in the roleplay proper.
Icons: Also called static icons, a 100x100 image of the character or faceclaim used to illustrate the character in lieu of gifs.
I’m sorry, what did you say?: An extremely vague starter. For some reason, people keep making this starter, despite it annoying and frustrating people. Like an Alvin and the Chipmunks film.
Independent RP/Indie RP: A roleplay blog or character not associated with any particular established RP group.
IRL: In real life. Don’t worry, you won’t have to use this one often. Nothing ever happens in real life.
Kik: Something that I recently learned is not a dating site, as I had thought. This is all I know.
KRP: A roleplay that uses K-Pop artists as faceclaims exclusively or nearly exclusively. This community has some terminology of its own that I don’t know, but most of it’s similar to the rest of the RPC.
Label: A brief descriptor or trope used to describe a character in an application. Some examples are The Scholar, The Heartbreaker, The Intrepid Reporter, The Lizard Tamer, etc.
Literate RP: An RP that is highly writing-focused and requires longer posts and replies than other roleplays. Despite the misleading name, it is not actually saying that other roleplays are illiterate.
LSRP: Legit Serious Roleplay. Same as Literate RP. Yes, this acronym is ridiculous, just roll with it.
MxM: A romantic pairing between two male characters, usually in 1x1 roleplay.
Magic Anon/M!A: A post for which you invite others to make your character take on a certain trait or action for a select period of time.
Main: In a group, the blog that contains all of the information and updates for the roleplay. Home base, basically.
Manip: A graphic edit of two faceclaims in which they are photoshopped to look like they’re in a picture together.
Mary Sue: A character whose unreasonable ease or difficulty in overcoming obstacles, forming relationships, and/or gaining accolades runs contrary to the intent of the writer and makes it difficult for the reader to get invested in the story or character arc. Also, apparently, a term used to refer to any female character you don’t like.
Mature RP: A roleplay that may contain dark or adult themes, and thus doesn’t allow players under the age of 18. Seriously, if you’re under 18, don’t lie about your age. That’s a dick move.
Meme: A post that features small prompts that others can send in to begin a thread. Elsewhere on the internet, this term refers to drawings of sad frogs.
Metagaming: Letting your character have in-character knowledge that they shouldn’t logically possess, just because the mun has it.
Mod: Another term for admin. We could never settle on one term for them. It’s like the couch vs. sofa dilemma.
Moodboard: A collection of images or gifs used to sum up a character’s personality.
Multifandom: Similar to Crossover, although usually used to refer to a work with elements from three or more works or fandoms.
Multi-Storyline/Multiverse: In independent roleplay, when the character exists in more than one universe at once, such that threads with a character do not impact the events of threads with a different character.
Mumu: Multi-muse. In which a single blog is used to play more than one character.
Mun: The writer/roleplayer. The person who’s controlling the character. You. This is you. Use this power wisely.
Muse: The character that you roleplay. Also, a Greek goddess who presided over the arts, although this definition is usually irrelevant in roleplay.
Musing: Posts that represent the character’s personality, history, or thoughts in someway, such as aesthetic photos, songs, or philosophical rants.
Mutuals: Blogs on tumblr that are both following each other.
MW: Most wanted. A character or faceclaim that admins or members in a group would really like someone to play.
NoTP: When some people think that two characters would make a good couple, and you would like to stab those people with a fork for being so stupid.
Novella: Very long format for roleplaying, in which responses should contain several paragraphs of writing. Don’t worry, you don’t actually have to write a novella; a reply shorter than 20,000 words is still acceptable.
NPC: Non-playable character. A character who is present in the roleplay’s universe, but is not played by any one particular writer.
NPH of RPH: That’s me!
NSFW: Not safe for work. Nudity, sex, graphic violence. Basically, the stuff that you absolutely don’t want to come across while browsing at the public library.
OC: Original character. A character you make that is not part of the canon or not pre-written for the RP group.
One-liner:  Roleplay consisting of only a single line or a few short lines. Sometimes referred to as “action roleplay” wherein actions are interspersed with speech. For example: “*Enters the room and throws confetti into the air.* I have arrived!”
OOC: Out of character. Can be used to denote that the writer is currently speaking or posting as themselves, rather than as a character, or be used to point out that a character does not act that way in canon, what are you doing, goddamnit.
Open Character: A pre-made character in a group who is currently not being played by any member of the group.
Open Starter: A starter that any character is allowed to reply to.
Original RP: A roleplay in which the plot and characters come from the admins’ and players’ creations rather than another source.
OTP: One true pairing. The ship that you love more than all the other ships. Except that most people have at least twelve OTPs, so...
OT3: One true threesome. Like an OTP, except there are three people.
Para: Relatively longer posts, consisting of full-bodied paragraphs or multiple paragraphs.
Playby: Another word for Faceclaim. Used more outside of Tumblr. See the couch vs. sofa debate.
Plot Bunny: A story that you would like to play out or see others play out through roleplay.
Plot Drop: A significant detail or event of the overarching story in a group RP that causes some change to the lives of the characters.
Powerplaying: Controlling another player’s character without their permission.
Private: In indie RP, a blog that only interacts with mutuals.
Promo: A post used to advertise a roleplay group or account.
PSD: Photoshop Data file. A type of file that’s designed to be edited on Photoshop or other image editing programs. It comes with the image separated into layers, so that different parts of the image, such as a background, a border, or text, can be edited separately.
Revamped: Extreme Makeover, Roleplay Edition.
RP: Roleplay.
RPA: Roleplay Advice. Like roleplay help, except, I dunno, maybe fewer resources, more questions answered? This one’s falling into disuse a bit. Oh, also Roleplay Assistant.
RPC: Roleplay Community. The group of us weirdos here who roleplay instead of just posting funny text posts and photographs of flowers like normal people. Alternatively, Roleplay Critic, a blog that reviews roleplays.
RPCHA: Um, Roleplay Critic/Helper/Advice. Seems a little over the top, but all right.
RPCW: Roleplay Critic Writer, I guess? I think. Same as roleplay critic. Think it’s used to differentiate from Roleplay Community.
RPG: Roleplay group. A group. That roleplays. Also can mean roleplaying game, or rocket-propelled grenade.
RPH: Roleplay Help. A blog that offers resources and answers questions to help people with roleplaying.
RPO: Roleplay Opinions. A blog that reviews roleplays. It doesn’t count as RPO if you just have opinions; you need to share them with the class.
RPT: Roleplay Talk. A blog that talks about roleplays and the roleplay community.
RPWCTOHA: This doesn’t stand for anything yet, but it’s only a matter of time.
Sample Para: A few paragraphs of your writing you include as an example as your work when you apply for a roleplay group. Do not just copy and paste a passage from Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Cask of Amontillado.” The admins will probably notice.
Secrets RP: A roleplay in which every character has a secret. These secrets are all listed together on a page in the RP, but it’s not revealed which character has which secret; that’s up to the other characters to figure out on their own through interactions.
Selective: For independent RP, when the mun does not roleplay indiscriminately with every blog or character that offers, but rather picks and chooses partners based on personal preference or certain criteria.
Self-insert: A character who is a fictionalized version of the mun/author, with little to no change from their actual self. If they die in the game, they die in real life.
Self-para: When your character wanders away from the group for a bit to engage in their own sidequest or navel-gazing. Good times.
Semi-appless RP: A roleplay that sits on an ever-sliding scale, requiring more detail in an application than an appless RP, but less than a bio RP.
Semi-hiatus: Like a hiatus, except that you might still show up to the blog on occasion and do a little bit of activity. When your real life is busy, but you’re just that determined to roleplay.
Semi-selective: For independent RP, a blog that’s not quite as selective as a selective blog, but still maintains the right to refuse service to customers should they so choose.
Semi-truck: A truck that’s not as much truck as a regular truck.
Shipping: Holding up hand-puppet versions of two characters and forcing them to make out.
Shoutout: A brief advertisement for a roleplay group (or occasionally other blogs) that can be submitted to the ask box of a help blog.
Skeleton RP: A roleplay in which some details are given for the roles being offered by the group, but the applicant fills in the rest, usually writing the body of the character bio. Alternatively, a roleplay in which every character is literally a skeleton.
Smut: Sex. Doing the do. The horizontal tango. Bumping uglies. Woohooing. Written out in all of its gory detail. Not worth going to jail for, so for the love of all that is holy, don’t do it if you’re under 18.
Starboarding: Shipping a one-sided ship. When you want one character to be in love with another, but don’t necessarily want the feelings to be returned. The most relatable type of ship, honestly. More people should RP it.
Starter: The first post in a thread, one that is used to kick off a scene in roleplaying. Usually, especially in a group, anyone is allowed to reply and start a thread from that point.
Starter Call: A post that people like or reblog in order to request a starter from the person who posted it.
Supernatural RP: A roleplay consisting of paranormal elements such as magical creatures, witchcraft, etc. Not a roleplay about the TV show Supernatural, although I guess such a roleplay would use this tag too. This is a problem the showrunners should have foreseen.
Taken Character: A character in a roleplay group who is currently being played by a group member.
Task: In a group, a (usually optional) prompt or project that can be used for character development.
Thread: The series of posts and replies to said post that make up a scene between characters in a roleplay.
Time Skip: Usually indicated by a line break, this is when a thread moves from one scene to another without covering the time in between.
Town RP: A roleplay in which the plot takes place in a single town as its primary or only setting. Like a city RP, but the buildings are shorter.
Trigger: Something that makes a user anxious, panicky, or otherwise very upset when they see it on their dashboard without warning. Tag these. No, I don’t care if it doesn’t fit your tagging aesthetic, just tag them.
Tumblr: You are here.
TW: Trigger Warning. Used in a tag to indicate that the post contains content that may be a trigger. Please format as “#[trigger] tw”. Not “#tw: [trigger]”, and definitely not “#☾-*.:。-❝✿~~ tw ~~✿&&♛”.
Twitter RP: A roleplay that uses Twitter as its primary platform. Don’t ask me how. I can’t even figure out how to use Twitter for its intended purpose.
Urban RP: A roleplay focused primarily on PoC (person of color) characters in a city setting. Often uses musicians such as hip-hop or rap artists as faceclaims.
UTP: Up to player. An acronym used in skeletons to indicated that part of the bio can be chosen by the applicant.
Verse: Short for universe. A character’s world or timeline.
WID: What I do. A list or page on a help blog that lists what services the blog offers.
X-kit: A browser extension that’s popular within the RPC. It works to make tumblr usable again every time the staff creates a new bug and calls it a feature.

kay. so clearly, i been missing out on all the action since like...2015. clearly.
Tumblr media
now, i already expect a lot of y’all to jump down my throat to shut the fuck up and crawl back into my hellhole since i have not actively participated in an urban group rp in over two years. and trust me, i plan to do that!!! but lemme let y’all in on a little secret before we decide to proceed into this dangerous territory.
hi everyone, i go by the pseudonym of E, and i am the friend that @seductns mentioned in her post about writing rape.
have i been raped ooc? no. have i been around people who have been raped? yes. do i know enough information about the after effects and the trauma of rape to know that this isn’t something to be thrown around so casually as a plot point? yes.
back in 2015, i wrote about a character who had been raped. not the usual, dark and scary alleyway type of rape either. here’s another thing we should know about — rape comes in different forms. its not just a stranger in the night, its not a random jock who spikes your drink. it can be family members, it can be the ones you love, it can be the ones you trust. now, back to anecdote number one. i wrote a character who had been raped constantly by her lover, and he did this by getting her drunk enough to the point where she could not consent. as a result, this character suffered dramatically in emotional and romantic relationships. and this here muse was an adult.
now, let’s fast forward to the present. i’m currently writing a muse on my indie page that is a rape survivor. her story? she got raped at the age of fifteen by a man who was twenty four. he knew exactly what he was doing. he preyed on her and groomed her and made her promises and bought her things and he took from her.
and let me tell you something else. writing this has affected me psychologically, and added onto the cocktail of shit i deal with in real life.
the thing that i feel like people don’t understand when using triggering content as plot points is not only the effect it has on the character you are writing and the environment you’re writing in, but IT AFFECTS YOU. mentally, i’m sensitive. mentally, i am exhausted. mentally, i am angry and always wary of the actions of others. it is not fun to write this. it is a learning experience, though, to be able to flesh through actual emotions and rebuild from trauma. in a way, yes, it develops the shit out of your character who has been through an assault. you learn things, you become more aware, you become more sympathetic to the actual issues in reality and you want to do more. good.
but what we’re not gonna do, is to show that we are gonna fake-call attention to the issues of “reality” portrayed as plot twists in books and movies by rounding up slots for people who are comfortable with portraying their characters as rape victims and rapists. what we’re NOT gonna do is write this out — while it happens in real life, we know — in a roleplay filled with MINORS AND UNDERAGED FCS. we aren’t gonna address my opinion of why are we making high school rps when most of us ain’t in high school anymore and we were more than ready to graduate when our time came, cause that’s irrelevant. but majority of us use rp to relax, to sharpen our writing skills, to relieve stress or whatever the reason may be. so....why would be bring such an unsafe topic into a place like a high school?
you wanna promote awareness, cool. you know that these things happen in real life and while you do not condone the actions, you can’t do anything to stop it from happening in reality. alright. like no one is judging y’all for wanting to bring a sense of realism to your roleplays and your muses, but realize this: writing triggering topics don’t just make others uncomfortable, it makes the person writing it uncomfortable. if what i’ve heard is true and this roleplay houses minors and what have you, and you wanna make others aware or provide real life aspects for your characters, have a goddamn anti-rape assembly. provide rape prevention classes at your damn Y or something. if there is a character who would like to expand on the territory of assault, know what the fuck you’re doing. 99% of the time, TV and movies ROMANTICIZE and normalize shit that isn’t okay for ratings. like...y’all are aware of this, right? and as for the whole “uneducated” thing, if you’re in high school, you are way too damn old to not know right from wrong and know that no means no. i knew about consent long before i was even in high school. and being drunk or high or whatever you wanna use as a backstory to validate someone being a rapist? hey, you’re excusing the act. you’re sounding like an apologist. what i’m seeing is y’all hooting and hollering and going “THIS HAPPENS IN REAL LIFE SO WHO CARES? SUCH AND SUCH DIDN’T KNOW IT WAS RAPE BECAUSE HE WAS DRUNK, AND PEOPLE THINK THAT WAY IN REALITY SO WHY Y’ALL MAD?!?!?!” and you know how that sounds? ignorant as hell. just like this whole debate.
all i gotta say is...if you wish to use sexual assault as a secret for your muse, whether they are the victim or the perpetrator, do some goddamn research. i don’t get why anyone would WANT to write themselves as a rapist no matter the situation, but i’m in no position to judge i guess. writing the topic of rape is heavy, and it seems like most of y’all are failing to understand this because y’all aren’t getting past the fact that even though it is a real life problem, y’all writing out rape isn’t making it go away. especially not in high school, i mean tf?
Tumblr media
and one more thing, y’all. stop acting like rph’s don’t do shit for you as soon as they disagree with your opinion. stop talking down on people who actually do shit with their lives outside of roleplay, but still find the fucking time to reblog the things that people may need and accept requests when asked. you generation of urban rpers sound childish and ungrateful as hell when you pull that, because when you want your damn theme makeovers and icons and gif icons, who will provide it to you when all you guys do is talk shit about them and discredit their work? uh, none, that’s who.
and that is the end of my rant. i’ve stated my piece. and stop running to wechat with your problems. everyone can see them, then you wanna act like a jackass when people have something to say about it. y’all are cities and states away and most of y’all are probably older than me anyway so grow the hell up. good night. let’s take a breather, everyone.
