Pics:
1 & 2. Lovecraft, out getting some air.
3. Quinsnicket Park - or, as it's known today, the Lincoln Woods.
4. The Seekonk River today.
5. Hearthside Museum, celebrating some spooky holiday - it seems.
6. Okay, Howard. Now you've gone too far! Or, knowing you, this is just your 1st step... Beyond.
1913: Quinsnicket Park.
Intro: As a boy, HPL lived in the 'swanky' part of Providence.
This area was so new, that it was just a few blocks away from nearby farms & woods.
Which included a densely wooded bank alongside the Seekonk River.
But, even as a youth, Lovecraft recognized the beauty of the park - with its rugged, rocky features & the fine Olney Pond¹.
A Steven Smith² had planted many trees & put in goldfish ponds thruout the greenery.
It quickly became a favorite spot of Howard's. Being a tranquil place where he could enjoy nature & even write at.
HPL was actually a good hiker. In warm weather, he showed a good appreciation of landscapes, the quality of light & seasonal changes.
Quinsnicket is a Narragansett word meaning, "Place of the Big Rocks" or "Rock House."
It also has a Pawtucket version, that's spelled quinsniket & means, "hill."
Quotes: From Letters -
A. 1919, Lovecraft wrote to Reinhardt Kleiner saying "I celebrated Columbus Day³ (with a) solitary ramble thru (the) Park. I had the... companion(ship of) a pocket telescope &... Thomson's "Seasons⁴."
The letter continues with a touch of racism, "It was delightful (2) leave behind the alienated suburbs, where reign the Hebrew, Italian & French- Canadian (- all in) squalor⁵."
B. 1929, Howard wrote to August Derleth saying "On my right (lie) the picturesque ivied ruins of an ancient mill⁶, which I knew in (my) youth."
C. 1933, HPL wrote to Clark Ashton Smith saying "I am north of... town, in the... region which I have haunted all my life & whose beauty can't... be captured (by) words."
"I could kick myself... for my inability to draw & paint."
"The temperature is falling⁷ & I can't 'steer' my finger(s) when it's... under 70°..."
D. 1934, Lovecraft wrote to F.L. Bald- win saying "I get out to the country as often as I can... I take my work or reading (material) to the wooded riverbank... One (of my) favorite rustic spots."
E. 1935, Howard wrote to Robert Barlow saying, "This section of the woods (are) primeval. (Both) Indians &... colonists (stood under) these giant firs⁸."
Notes:
1. The pond is more man made rather than natural. The Olneys damned the Thread Mill Brook to create a water- fall. It was high enough to run a... Yes, you guessed it - a thread mill.
2. Sadly, I've found no other mention of Steven Smith nor why he beautified this particular park.
3. Sigh...
HPL suddenly has no problem with Columbus.
Yet, at 1st, Lovecraft couldn't stand the idea of Italians asking to change a street name to honor Columbus.
4. James Thomson was England's 1st & most popular nature poet.
It was James who also wrote "Rule, Britannica," an important musical anthem for the British Army & Navy!
"The Seasons", like Walt Whitman's "Leaves of Grass", was revised & added to until it reached epic length.
James died 2 years after finishing this cycle of poems.
Yet, "Seasons" was reprinted 50 times by the year 1800. And, the book was read well into the Romantic Era (1800 to 1850).
5. Once again, HPL shouts out his more tame message of hate. Nothing really new here.
6. Could this be the waterwheel that Howard lauded over the coal powered industrial mills?
7. Another mention of Lovecraft's low temperature 'allergy.' The opposite of Mister Freeze, who can't withstand any heat...
8. These are most likely Douglass firs, which grow up long & slender - with short crowns.
In old growth forests, these firs reach some 250 feet tall! But, the tallest Douglass firs is a record 330 feet!!
And, the oldest fir lived for some 1,400 years!

The Art of Crafting a Beautiful Republic Day Invitation
Creating a beautiful Republic Day invitation requires a blend of creativity, careful planning, and an eye for visual harmony. The right invitation can inspire a sense of national pride, emanate the spirit of unity, and generate anticipation for the event you're hosting. This article will delve deeper into the art of designing an appealing Republic Day invitation.
Start with a Theme
Before you begin, decide on a theme for your republic day invitation. A theme can set the right mood and provide a sense of unity to your design elements. A popular theme could be the National flag's tricolors, representations of India's diversity, or symbols of national pride like the Ashoka Chakra or peacock.
Choose the Right Color Palette
The correct use of colors can evoke specific emotions and guide the overall look of your invitation. For a Republic Day invitation, make predominant use of saffron, white, and green to resonate with the flag's colors. You can accent these with navy blue, representing the Ashoka Chakra.
Fuse Visual and Textual Elements
Visuals play a crucial role in creating a beautiful invitation. They should work in harmony with the text, draw attention, and tell a story about your event. Consider using imagery like national symbols or monuments. An artwork representing diverse Indian cultures can also make a beautiful background.
Select Suitable Fonts
Typography can enhance the visual appeal of your republic day invitation. Use fonts that are easy to read, yet stylized enough to echo the event's gravity. You could use a striking blend of fonts - a script font for the headline and a simple sans serif for the details.
Include Important Information
Ensure your invitation includes all the vital event details such as date, time, venue, dress code, and the program's overview. The information should appear clear and precise for your guests' convenience.
Personalize with a Message
Include a heartfelt message in your Republic Day invite. A quote about patriotism, unity, or diversity could add depth to your invitation. It not only engages your reader but also sets the tone for your upcoming celebration.
Review and Revise
After bringing all these elements together, make sure to review and proofread your invitation. Check for any typographical or factual errors. Ensure that the design elements are not overcrowded and that the text is readable.
Creating an exquisite Republic Day invitation is indeed an art, combining aesthetics, function, and emotion. Taking time to meticulously craft it will not only impress your guests but truly set the right tone for your Republic Day celebration. Be creative, experiment with styles, and don't forget to enjoy the process!

US says it shot down four drones in southern Red Sea launched from Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen
The United States shot down four drones headed towards a US destroyer in the southern Red Sea and launched from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen on Saturday, US Central Command (Centcom) said. “These attacks represent the 14th and 15th attacks on commercial shipping by Houthi militants since Oct. 17,” Centcom said in a post on X, formerly Twitter. The Iran-aligned Houthis, who control much of Yemen, have disrupted world trade for weeks with attacks on ships passing through the Bab al-Mandab Strait at the southern end of the Red Sea in what they say is a response to Israel’s war in Gaza. The US Naval Forces Central Command responded to distress calls from two ships under attack, Centcom said.A Norwegian-flagged, owned and operated chemical/oil tanker reported a near miss of a Houthi drone attack, and a Gabon-owned, Indian-flagged crude oil tanker reported being hit by a one-way attack, the post said. Two Houthi anti-ship ballistic missiles were also “fired into international shipping lanes in the Southern Red Sea from Houthi controlled areas of Yemen”, it said. “No ships reported being impacted by the ballistic missiles.” The UK Maritime Trade Operations agency earlier reported that an uncrewed aerial system had exploded near a vessel in the Bab al-Mandab Strait, 45 nautical miles southwest of Saleef, Yemen. Meanwhile, a Japanese-owned chemical tanker struck Saturday off the coast of India was targeted by a drone “fired from Iran”, the Pentagon said. Saturday’s attack took place about 10am local time (0600 GMT) and caused no casualties aboard the vessel, it said, adding that a fire was extinguished. The US military “remains in communication with the vessel as it continues toward a destination in India,” it added. It was the first time the Pentagon openly accused Iran of directly targeting ships since the start of Israel’s war on Hamas, according to Agence France-Presse.The Pentagon statement said the MV Chem Pluto ship flew under a Liberian flag and was operated by a Dutch entity, although the ship is owned by a Japanese company. Ambrey, a maritime security firm, said the “chemical/products tanker … was Israel-affiliated” and had been on its way from Saudi Arabia to India. The Indian navy said it had responded to a request for assistance. “An aircraft was dispatched and it reached overhead the vessel and established safety of the involved ship and its crew,” a navy official told AFP. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the strike. The Red Sea attacks on shipping since the start of the Israel-Hamas war have prompted major firms to reroute their cargo vessels around the southern tip of Africa, despite the higher fuel costs of much longer voyages. The Houthi rebels have launched more than 100 drone and missile attacks, targeting 10 merchant vessels involving more than 35 different countries, according to the Pentagon. On Saturday, an official in Iran’s Revolutionary Guard warned of the forced closure of other waterways unless Israel halted its war with Hamas. “With the continuation of these crimes, America and its allies should expect the emergence of new resistance forces and the closure of other waterways,” Mohammad Reza Naqdi said, quoted by Iran’s Tasnim news agency. The United States launched Operation Prosperity Guardian three days ago, saying more than a dozen countries had agreed to participate in an effort that will involve joint patrols in Red Sea waters near Yemen.

Israel is angry after Spain and Belgium announced their full recognition of the State of Palestine...and a new prisoner exchange deal Updates on the Al-Aqsa Flood operation presented in this episode of Samri Channel. The beginning of the prisoner exchange process between the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Israel. The Palestinian movement began handing over the first group of hostages it held during its attack on Israel on October 7 and transferring them to the International Committee of the Red Cross in the Gaza Strip to hand them over to the Hebrew state. In this context, a spokesman for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the International Red Cross received 24 civilians who were detained in the Gaza Strip.
Majid Al-Ansari added in a post on X that a number of Thai citizens were released outside the scope of the truce agreement between Israel and Hamas, and they are on their way out of Gaza with the Red Cross. The Israeli army said in a statement, “The released hostages underwent an initial medical evaluation inside Israeli territory,” adding, “Israeli army soldiers will continue to accompany them as they head to Israeli hospitals, where they will be reunited with their families.” A list published by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office showed that among the released hostages were three girls and a boy between the ages of two and nine, in addition to six women over the age of 70.
On the other hand, the Qatari official confirmed the release of 39 Palestinian women and children detained in Israeli prisons. A source close to the Palestinian movement said, "Half an hour ago, the prisoners were handed over to the Red Cross, which handed them over to the Egyptian crew and the Israeli crew assigned to receive them at the Rafah crossing." A second source confirmed this information. In addition, a source reported that "an additional number of Thai foreigners were released as a gesture from Hamas." Thai Prime Minister Srita Thavisin said in a post on the “X” website, “I was informed by the security side and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that 12 Thai hostages have already been released.” On Friday, a four-day truce entered into force between Israel and Hamas. The chief Israeli military spokesman said on Friday evening that the Israeli forces are taking advantage of the four-day truce with Hamas that was agreed upon to allow the return of some hostages to prepare for the next phase of their operation in the Gaza Strip. Daniel Hajari said in a regular press briefing, "During the days of the truce, the Israeli army will complete its preparation and preparedness for the next stages of the war." Qatar was the main mediator, along with Egypt and the United States, and reached a truce agreement for four renewable days, during which 50 hostages held in Gaza would be exchanged for 150 Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons.
On the other hand, the Associated Press quoted an American official that a ship owned by an Israeli billionaire was targeted in the Indian Ocean. The agency added, "A container ship owned by an Israeli billionaire was attacked by a suspected Iranian drone in the Indian Ocean while Israel is waging a war on Hamas in the Gaza Strip." For its part, Al-Mayadeen channel quoted private sources as saying, “The ship that was targeted in the northern Indian Ocean received a hit that led to it catching fire.”
Meanwhile, Roi Kayes, head of the Arab Affairs Department at the Israeli Kan channel, said, “No confirmation has been received from Israeli authorities about the authenticity of the incident or the ownership of the ship to Israel.” The Ansar Allah Houthi group had detained an Israeli ship in the Red Sea, stressing that it would continue to carry out military operations against Israel until the war on the Strip stopped. The Yemeni military media published scenes showing the moment the Israeli ship was seized. The Commander of the Yemeni Navy, Major General Muhammad Fadl Abdul Nabi, announced that the naval forces will continue to carry out military operations against Israeli ships and interests until the targeting of Gaza stops.

Literally the same Wikipedia article you site to support you features multiple quotes from government officials detailing how the extinction of bison was intended as an attempted genocide of native communities and cultures. Point blank, my dude.
"General Sherman remarked, in conversation the other day, that the quickest way to compel the Indians to settle down to civilized life was to send ten regiments of soldiers to the plains, with orders to shoot buffaloes until they became too scarce to support the r*dskins." - Army Navy Journal, June 26, 1869
"With my cavalry and carbined artillery encamped in front, I wanted no other occupation in life than to ward off the savage and kill off his food until there should no longer be an Indian frontier in our beautiful country." - Lieutenant General John M. Schofield
"Mayer, there's no two ways about it, either the buffalo or the Indian must go. Only when the Indian becomes absolutely dependent on us for his every need, will we be able to handle him. He's too independent with the buffalo. But if we kill the buffalo we conquer the Indian. It seems a more humane thing to kill the buffalo than the Indian, so the buffalo must go." - Lieutenant Colonel Richard Irving Dodge to Frank H. Mayer
"These men [hunters] have done more in the last two years, and will do more in the next year, to settle the vexed Indian question, than the entire regular army has done in the last forty years. They are destroying the Indians' commissary. It is a well-known fact that an army losing its base of supplies is placed at a great disadvantage. Send them powder and lead, if you will; but for a lasting peace, let them kill, skin, and sell until the buffaloes are exterminated. Then your prairies can be covered with speckled cattle." - General Philip Sheridan
Obviously economic or technical factors existed that also served as cause, but it's important to remember the full context of why those incentives existed and why zero protections for bison were approved. The U.S. government's attempts to genocide and assimilate indigenous communities is not a "conspiracy theory". It is a painful reality we must understand and accept.
The sheer number of sources from around the time of the turn of the 19th-20th centuries that pronounce the American bison DEAD dead like Capital E Extinct has me reeling a bit ngl

Masterlist of Karedevil moments - Daredevil Season 2
[Season 1] [The Defenders] [Season 3]
It took me long enough, but here it is: the masterlist of Karedevil interactions for season 2! I did that for season 1 and didn’t do it for S2 because there were so many more scenes, and pretty self-explanatory, “canon” as some would say. But I figured it’d be great to have one for S2 as well. Season 3 is coming soon, as well as the one for the Defenders. I hope this will be of use to vidders, gif makers, or simply Karedevil addicts! If you do use this, please let me know, like, reblog or tag me so that I know it’s actually useful to someone :)

Karen: “Yeah, I guess.”
Matt: “But, I’m not misremembering, am I? It really was the best... curry on the planet?”
Karen: “Mmmm, yes. Great, great curry. Even better company.”
Matt: “I’ll try to make this [appointment] go quick.”
Karen: “You know what, Foggy and I have got our hands full with everything here, why not just make dinner for tomorrow night?”
Matt: “Yeah, can we?”
Karen: “Yeah.”
Matt: “And, thanks for backing me up earlier.”
Karen: “Well, I didn’t do it for us, I did it because helping Frank, getting to the truth, that’s the right thing to do. *Matt chuckles* What?
Matt, after he kisses her: “I know. All right.”
Karen: “Okay.”
Episode 7: Semper Fidelis
Scene 1:

People that can hurt you, the ones that can really hurt you, are the ones that are close enough to do it. People that get inside you and... and... and tear you apart, and make you feel like you're never gonna recover. Shit, I'd... I... I would chop my arm off right here, in this restaurant, just to feel that one more time for my wife. My old lady, she didn't just break my heart. She... she'd rip it out, she'd tear it apart, she'd step on that shit, feed it to a dog. I mean she was ruthless. She brought the pain. But she'll never hurt me again. You see, I'll never feel that. Moving To Mexico Beach Florida
Humans inhabited Florida at least 12,000 years prior to European contact. Remains and artifacts dating to the Pleistocene era confirm this presence. The environment was substantially different during this time; the sea level was approximately 100 feet lower, and the climate was much cooler and drier. Animal species present during this time included mammoths, mastodons, dire wolves, saber-toothed cats, camels, and a wide variety of Pleistocene megafauna (giant species of modern animals such as condors, tortoises, beavers, and sloths).
Many groups of indigenous peoples inhabited Florida, all of which succumbed to extinction by the year 1800. Most died from exposure to European diseases such as measles and smallpox, while others were captured and sold into slavery.
The western coastline boasts lighthouses and untouched marine habitat at the Big Bend Seagrasses Aquatic Preserve, along with some spectacular oceanfront Florida vacation rentals, and the some of the world's best roller coasters and wildlife shows at Busch Gardens & Sea World in Tampa.
At the time of European “discovery,” the Apalachee Indians occupied the area that is present-day Mexico Beach. The Spanish conquistador Pánfilo de Narváez led an expedition into the area in the summer of 1528 and was attacked by a superior force of Apalachee warriors. As the Spanish retreated along the Wakulla and St. Marks rivers, the Apalachee waged a guerilla campaign against them, eventually forcing the conquistadors to the Gulf of Mexico. There, starving and having eaten their horses, they hastily constructed a fleet of rafts and set sail for New Spain (Mexico).
The Spanish would return in 1539 with an expedition of 550 soldiers led by Hernando de Soto. The expedition neared Mexico Beach at present-day Tallahassee. Tallahassee would become the capital of Spanish Florida and remain so until being traded to England in exchange for control of Havana, Cuba. The Apalachee, their population reduced by conflict with the Spanish and exposure to diseases for which they had no natural immunity, were eventually wiped out.
As a result of the Seven Years’ War with France and Spain, Great Britain found itself in possession of all French territory east of the Mississippi River, as well as territory ceded by France’s ally Spain. Finding Florida too difficult to govern as a single entity, Britain divided it into two separate territories: East and West Florida.
Mexico Beach fell within the territory of West Florida, which composed the area commonly referred to as the “Panhandle.” The territory would once again be contested during the American Revolutionary War and, with American victory over the British, possession returned to Spain as secured by the Treaty of Paris in 1783.
The Spanish continued the British practice of governing the territory as East and West Florida, but soon become embroiled in a border dispute with the United States. Tensions between Spanish and American settlers, as well as warfare between both nations and the Seminole Indians, eventually led to Florida being traded to the United States in exchange for the recognition of Spanish claims in Texas.
East and West Florida were merged and Florida became a U.S. territory in 1822, with Tallahassee as its capital. In 1845, Florida became the 27th state.
The area encompassing Mexico Beach would see very little development over the next 60 years. The U.S. Navy blockaded the Gulf Coast during the Civil War, while the North raided an important salt works located nearby in what is now Panama City, and several small skirmishes were fought in the area. Blockade-runners smuggled cotton out of, and vital war materials and money into, the area under the cover of night.
Two events encouraged the “discovery” and development of Mexico Beach, as it exists today: The completion of Highway 98 during the 1930s and the construction of Tyndall Field in 1941. Thousands of Army Air Corps personnel were introduced to the beautiful white-sand beaches as they passed through the training base on their way to war. In 1946, a group of local businessmen including Gordon Parker, W.T. McGowan, and J.W. Wainright bought 1,850 acres of beachfront property and began development.
Mexico Beach grew slowly but steadily through the 1950s and 60s. In 1955, the Mexico Beach Canal was completed, providing boaters with quick, easy, and safe access to the Gulf. In 1967, the town was officially incorporated as the City of Mexico Beach.
Mexico Beach quickly became known for its abundant sportfishing. Fishing has been, and remains, one of the city’s greatest draws. The Mexico Beach Artificial Reef Association, working closely with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission and the United States Army Corps of Engineers, has established more than 1,000 patch reefs within easy reach of shore. The program has been wildly successful, attracting countless species and numbers of fish and other sea life to Mexico Beach and making the area a preferred destination of sport fisherman.
In stark contrast to neighboring communities along the Gulf Coast, Mexico Beach looks much today as it did decades ago. Commercial development has been restrained and contained. More than a mile of beachfront has been protected against development, offering unobstructed views of the beautiful white-sand beach and emerald Gulf waters. Businesses are almost exclusively locally owned “mom and pop” establishments. Mexico Beach is a success story of preservation.
While the City of Mexico Beach today boasts a population of just 1,000 residents, generations of visitors from all over the world have discovered this quiet, authentic, and family-friendly little beach town. The majority of vacationers return year after year on their pilgrimage to Gulf Coast’s white sands.
We’re confident that the founding fathers and pioneering families who made Mexico Beach the place it is today would be proud of the continued results of their efforts and the many happy memories that have been created here.
If you are considering moving to Mexico Beach Florida you should consider getting a few quotes from Boca Raton Moving Companies so you get the best possible price.
