Hi there. I'm back with theory #3 for Sylus' myth. Which....might be less evidence-heavy than the first two and really just me talking out of my ass. I started writing at midnight because that's just on brand clown behavior of me 🙃 ANYWAY...

People who haven't read Rafayel, Xavier, and Zayne's myths, please tread carefully, because I will touch upon them briefly and allude to events in their myths.

Quick recap from first post:

Theory 1: Sylus and MC must have been destined lovers in a past life, but due to whatever conflict, Sylus decided to break his bond with her for her protection and accept any punishment that comes with it, which could mean to be ruler of a place he has no desire for, an imprisonment of sort.

Theory 2: Destined lovers, but perhaps a third party interfered out of jealousy or spite. Could Sylus have been caught and framed of a crime and been literally imprisoned, thus forcing him and MC to separate?

So...I half-joked in a post that my new theory is that Sylus sold his soul to the devil. Or, you know, maybe he is the devil himself. This is partly stemmed from the Long-Awaited Revelry trailer, which has the word "demon" over a shot of him and later in the same trailer, one of Sylus' companion forms is aptly titled "Otherworldly Visitor". Make of that as you will.

And with the new trailer for No Defense Zone, we see that Sylus' right eye glows in a demonic way, similar to his in the LAR trailer. Even the atmosphere in both scenes seem a bit supernatural. Now....I didn't want to go there, but, um................do you suppose he is an incubus? 😭😭😭 The shot after "demon" has the word "desire," which can have a sexual connotation.

For those who don't know, an incubus is a male demon who preys on women sexually.......it would explain his kinky behavior in NDZ 💀 but I digress.......

Some of the first lines we hear from Sylus:

"Even if you wanted to sell your soul, you still have to find someone who can pay the price."

"Want some help? Yes? No? Maybe so?"

These lines reinforce the idea of "deal with the devil". In the new theme song, Visions opposées, the singer also sings this line: "Mais c'est le prix à payer" (But that's the price to pay). It could just be figurative, or it could hold some literal truth, because I found it interesting how that verse overlaps with Sylus' scenes. I doubt it's a coincidence since the devs are so good at planting seeds.

From the chorus, in order, we hear:

[MINOR RAFAYEL, XAVIER, & ZAYNE SPOILERS]

"But that's the price to pay / o'love" - Rafayel, God of the Sea, is separated by MC. His price? His civilization.

"Stars will always shine / But with pain" - Xavier and MC are separated (side note: I don't have the second half of Xavier's first myth yet, so I can't elaborate too much. But I've seen enough references to understand the scene depicted in the MV)

"Though separated / Hearts cling on" - Zayne (The Foreseer) is separated from MC in many lifetimes. The memories of their love are tied to the jasmine flowers even if they forget.

"That's the price to pay / Yet lovers endure forevermore"

This is the verse that plays over Sylus' scene. What is his price? Does the following verse mean that he and MC must always endure something? Hardship? Misfortune?

When the chorus repeats a second time near the end, all of the above verses coincide with the intended love interest. It absolutely can be argued that all four love interests paid a price for their love, and not just Sylus. This whole tangent was brought up to follow with the whole "deal with the devil" aspect. As stated previously, I wouldn't be surprised if the devs and songwriters intended for the lyrics to have layers upon layers of meaning in relation to the stories.

Also take into consideration the lyrics from the song in Sylus' first official trailer, Tangible Shackles:

The outlaw again celebrates this encounter in fate It's time to break the seal they set in mind It's time they will have to pay the price

To me, though, in this song, the verse sounds very vengeful. It sounds almost vindictive, as if someone must be punished for whatever wrongdoing done against Sylus.

Watching the interview for Visions opposées, it seems the LADS team has shared enough of the intended stories for the songwriters to understand and pen the songs we hear. I trust that there will be complete clarity to the lyrics once we're able to understand Sylus' myth.

Love is the privilege of mortals

Now remember the first official trailer for Sylus? Yeah. Long-Awaited Revelry. Do you know what "revelry" mean? 'Cause I sure as heck didn't and kept wanting to read it as rivalry

revelry. noun. a situation in which people are drinking, dancing, singing, etc. at a party or in public, especially in a noisy way. — Cambridge Dictionary

To put it simply, "long-awaited party," which with the new knowledge of the timeline of scenes shown, we can clearly see a scene of MC entering a ballroom where Sylus is at in the trailer.

What type of party is this? Long-awaited? Maybe an engagement? In the MV, you can catch a brief glimpse of guests in the background watching MC enter. It seems almost like Sylus is waiting to show her off. The dance they share also seem intimate, and Sylus' expression is very soft and tender.

Previously, I alluded that it looks like MC and Sylus' wrist are bounded by a thread, similar to the Red Thread of Fate, but afterwards, I had my doubts, and if in keeping with the theme of being trapped, perhaps they were actually cuffed? I have previously mentioned that handcuffs have shown up often in the trailers.

To be cuffed together makes it seem like it wasn't a choice for one or both people. Kind of pondering if maybe MC might have sold her soul to Sylus, thus becoming bounded to him?

I have also made a lot of references to the myth of Hades and Persephone previously (still holding onto it with every fiber of my being tbqh), BUT for the sake of this third theory, let's revise the above scene to mean...

Sylus, a demonic creature, is trapped on the dark side while MC is a mortal on the light side (mortal realm). He knows their love can never be, so he forces whatever bond they made together to break, setting her free to remain in the mortal realm while he remains trapped in the Underworld.

Interestingly, Sylus conjures up a gun, pressing it to his chest where his heart would be. And he makes MC shoot him. ....thus breaking their bond? Or killing him idk man

This appears to be the following appearance of him after he is shot in his chair:

I'm sorry if this seems out of left field and my mind works in a weird way, but.....the scene above kind of made me think of the Roman/Greek myth for Cupid/Eros and Psyche. Rather, I was thinking of the scene where after her jealous sisters manipulated her and planted seeds of doubts, Psyche betrays her husband's trust and broke her promise to not view his face and learn of his identity. She carries a dagger with the intention of killing him.

In the aforementioned myth, Psyche does journey into the Underworld during a final trial set forth by Cupid/Eros' mother, Venus/Aphrodite. Other than that, there might not be many other correlations I can make in regard to the scene depicted in Visions opposées.

Speaking of Cupid (Roman name, but aka Eros in Greek mythology), however, it's also worth noting that Cupid was described as a "demon of fornication" by some mythographers. Take this part with a grain of salt since this was due to adapting the Roman myth for Christian usage. I do, however, vaguely recalled in some Greek/Roman myths, Eros/Cupid was viewed as devious by the other gods due to him being able to make both mortals and the gods fall in love depending on his whims, be it out of mischievousness or malice.

So....Cupid....God of desire....erotic love.............that earlier incubus comment I made?? 😭 This part I am definitely pulling out of my ass. 💀 Let's just wrap this post up. 🫠

If we look at the myth from the angle that Sylus is a demon, then....

Theory 3: Sylus is a demon who has come across MC, and for whatever reason, she is desperate to make a deal with a demon, thus bounding herself to him. Perhaps over time, Sylus grows to adore her, but maybe MC betrays his trust, whether it be intentional or at the manipulation of others? Could he have tested her when he made her shoot him? Was he willing to die for her, even if it's at her hands?

Summary:

Draco is doing his best to balance the life he wants to live and the life he’s forced to live. He’s nearing the tail-end of a long, post-war probation when Harry Potter crashes back into his life with all the grace of a charging Erumpent, breaking through his carefully constructed rules and routine. Excerpt:

The moment was weighty with meaning. There was an uncharacteristically skittish look in Draco’s eyes as the song played softly between them, reciting the last few months of Harry’s life in verse as if it had been written about him.

It had to have meaning, yet Harry filled with nerves as each bar of music rolled on. After months of denying and pushing down his feelings while trying not to read into anything Draco did, it was a terrifying bridge to cross.

The curve of Draco’s neck caught his eye. His jugular was visibly pulsing with the same rapid, nervous beat drumming in Harry’s. It settled his swimming stomach to see evidence that he felt the lyrics as sharply as Harry.

Harry gathered his courage and pulled them closer, leaning forward and dropping his eyes to Draco’s lips. He stopped well before they would touch, looking to Draco’s shadowed eyes with a question.

A trail of magic followed Draco’s hand as it slid up Harry’s arm, landing behind his shoulder. Draco pulled Harry closer as he leaned the rest of the way in. The warm light from the fireplace below threw his face into soft shadows, and the air was charged with anticipation.

Draco’s warm breath ghosted over his lips, and his nose softly bumped Harry’s. Within a second that stretched on like an eternity, they breathed in that same electric excitement buzzing in the air between them. Then Draco’s warm lips pressed to Harry’s.

His body flashed hot and cold. His heart felt like it was gearing up to jump out of his chest, and perhaps his fluttering stomach would fly off with it. He shut his eyes tight against the physical and emotional whirlwind happening inside him.

The kiss was like none other. Harry didn’t know how to classify it. He thought he’d felt the heights of pleasure with Draco, but he was wrong. They’d done nearly everything else they wanted with each other, checking off kinks and curiosities like marking off points of interest on a map during a road trip.

A single press of Draco’s soft lips to his, a curl of his hair tickling Harry’s temple, and their feet tangled together had his heart swelling and breaking through all his carefully erected barriers. Affection burst out like a caged animal feeling the sun on its skin for the first time.

A quiet whine rose up his throat, unintentional and unstoppable as his body shivered with surges of magic and his head swam with hope.

“Harry,” Draco breathed against his lips, soft and trembling with need. In it Harry heard everything he’d been unwilling to hear.

Harry pulled him closer and pressed another kiss to his lips, then another and another. Draco rolled half on top of him, his hands moving like he couldn’t decide which part of Harry he wanted to hold onto—clinging to his shoulders, squeezing his waist, gripping his hair, then finally holding his face in both hands so he could keep him in place as he laid kiss upon kiss on him.

Harry slipped his arms around him and hugged around his waist, squeezing their bodies together. Fingers dug into hot flesh and magic flared under his skin, hot and cold and right.

Draco pushed his tongue into Harry’s mouth, and he couldn’t have held back his moan if he wanted to. Draco moaned back as their tongues twisted together and lips opened and closed against each other, sucking and biting and tasting each other in the one way they’d never permitted themselves before.

Harry rolled fully onto his back, pulling Draco the rest of the way on top of him, filling his senses entirely with Draco. He was everywhere—the weight on his body, the magic under his skin, the sweet scent in his nose, and the taste on his lips. Harry felt drunk on him.

They kissed, and they kissed, then they kissed some more.

Hexx this time! My runaway Haarlep....

1. An event that defines your character's past: Havana

Hexx was plucked from paradise by Mephistopholes and dropped into the House of Hope. While there, they quickly fell in love with Raphael, but if the song is about the event itself from their past, it would be their feelings while it happened.

2. How your character sees themselves: (Don't Fear) The Reaper

I won't spam with the lyrics to this one - it's pretty straightforward hehe. But ultimately, Hexx focuses a lot on the pain they bring others. They see themself as a villain mostly due to their hunger, their insatiable need to destroy. This song oversimplifies it, but I ran out of energy to really find a perfect one that also adds in the sentiment of both hurting and disappointing your loved ones?

3. How others view them: mememe

But I'll laugh too fucking hard, you probably think I'm so mean But I don't even know you, and now you'll never really know Know-know-know, know-know-know Anything about me, me-me-me, me-me-me

Ok ok ok ok I cheated. It's obvious how others see Hexx, and you all probably also have your own ideas since you would only see them in Haarlep form anyway! So here is Hexx's response to that, hehehehe.

4. Their closest relationship (platonic or romantic): You Make My Dreams Come True

On a night when bad dreams become a screamer When they're messing with the dreamer, I can laugh it in the face Twist and shout my way out and wrap yourself around me 'Cause I ain't the way you found me and I'll never be the same

During their time with Raphael, for thousands of years, Hexx mostly watches Raphael live his life and tries to help however possible. Using their skillset. Advising indirectly through quips and snark, which Raphael doesn't acknowledge the usefulness of. They get to a point where Raphael tolerates them, but they're madly in love with him. Quickly having betrayed Mephistopheles (they outwitted him in their contract), Hexx is fully Raphael's and ultimately becomes comfortable at his home, fully devoted to him, though not fulfilled.

Until Cian shows up. Hexx falls in love with him quickly, admiring his relationship with Raphael as well (Hexx doesn't really feel jealousy). After a complex beginning, these two ultimately get to a point where Cian actually breaks down their walls (!!!!!). Raphael and Cian are the loves of their life, and they'll never be the same again.

5. A major fight scene: DONTTRUSTME

She wants to touch me, woo-oh She wants to love me, woo-oh She'll never leave me, woo-oh, woo-oh-oh-oh Don't trust a hoe, never trust a hoe Won't trust, 'cause a hoe won't trust me

Well, a fight for them is usually consuming someone as an incubus.... I think most of it speaks for itself. Ultimately, don't trust an incubus LOL. But also pay attention to how Hexx also feels not cared about by the world either. Also this song is so problematic just like Hexx hehe

Hexx, after going through all their shit, when they land in "today" they really feel on top of the world. They've seen everything. Been everywhere. And they're exactly where they want to be, with the ones they want to be with.

I wanted to actually answer this in a post so that other people would see it / it wasn’t hidden in the comments of a chapter. 

THANK YOU for asking this question - and thank you so much for reading and recommending Root Pearl. I talked about this with @the-blind-assassin-12​ a little while ago, and I’ve come up with this: 

Root Pearl Ezra’s singing voice is sort of a mixture of Ben Burnley from Breaking Benjamin, Scott Weiland from Stone Temple Pilots and has a little of Chester Bennington’s anguish/the throaty quality to it.* Unlike those three, though, Ezra doesn’t utilize the “scream” often - so when he does use it, it HITS.  

* Another candidate for his style of singing is Chris Cornell, whose voice is smooth as HELL and so damn soothing to listen to.

I’d say that his (and The Fringe’s) music is melodic rock - think  Incubus, Audioslave, Starset, early Breaking Benjamin with more of a focus on the vocals for his solo stuff. It’s approachable for most listeners, but has an edge to it, especially lyrically. 

As a performer, he’s focused on giving his best onstage. He’s not a perfectionist when it comes to nailing every single note/his delivery every single time, but live vocals are definitely CD quality; his voice holds up - and he doesn’t skimp out when it comes to actually playing the guitar. 

He isn’t super “active” - he doesn’t jump around or rely on theatrics, but he makes use of every inch of the edge of the stage - playing to the entire audience. His solo stuff is a little more mellow compared to when he has a full band, but in both scenarios, he’s very very interactive with the crowd - meaning he talks a lot, takes requests, tells stories etc. 

You can tell he’s not just making music or touring for a paycheck - he truly loves it, and that’s why the accident was such a harsh blow.

Here ye, here ye.  As I begin to detail all of my characters from my 7th grade year in life.  You will be hipped to revisions since, then into the final product.  In their origin, "the Nasty Crew" was first created when Lumidee emerged.  Nyne, Thug French (Formerly AKA Thug Nasty) & Division were made to be music creators, influencers & talent.  As I put them in the Nasty Crew with Lumidee; I added Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Sutta & created more imaginative talent for the crew.  That would be traveling around the galaxy & outside of it; touring the sea of stars until their death dates.  They never planned on retiring until they couldn't perform anymore.  As I first made up the 100 Year Mark of super beings, they can live normally up to 97 years of age.  They begin to slow down but never deteriorate; they stay physically capable up until they have reached one hundred years outside of a womb with a detached umbilical cord.  When it's their time, they start to lose sight in a light at the end of a tunnel way; then cease all bodily functions.  Until I created immortality in this world...

With music being a traveling commodity; they can take their act to the next sector & next sector & next sector until they actually grow tired of living.  Immortality is a simple ask, because of the Species Wars; a new wish allowed the good folk to make immortality a simple desire in order for it to be blessed on a vessel.  For the continued existence of humans, devils & angels.  The Order for this crew is simple; spend three days performing over a weekend for six months, with a set show over a heavily managed tour.  In order to stay on that tour, they have their magical might; for their own protection.  Nyne, comes from the House of Barnes of this universe; he is of the middle set of children of his generation.  Older brothers are triplets, he was born with a twin sister; then there was their little brother.  Nyne comes from a highly dangerous up bringing or several, for his own betterment; once he heads off into the real world.  He grew up with a best friend, Etoro Vithius; both of them were into song writing, rapping, singing & performing.  It was only right, that they met in a summer camp before they began their journey into music.  Being hardcore sparring buddies is a constant inspiration for Stadium Cult.  Thug French holds the same sentiment of power training that they uphold.  Scouting for new talent is how he found them, then found Blake Rhymes, Division & Chocolate.  A lucrative set of entertainment they would come to be, but a marvelous brotherhood looks better on them.  Over a few years of gaining stardom, a chance encounter with Lumithick was their shoe in; in finally securing female talent for their touring dreams.  

One by one, all of them scouted the next lady to join Stadium Cult.  When they had seven, the girls got along to where they would keep their individual acts on top of making a new girl group.  Lips Alexus was a new feature of Stadium Cult, that 'super beinged' their stardom into triple platinum status.  The relief of hustling was over for this group of thirteen, they finally hit the big leagues in a big enough way to where they can survive on their talent alone.  They had means of creating their own cruise line spaceship; with the hardcore brutes & ladies that were on board, they had it developed into a battleship too.  For insurance purposes of making sure nothing happens to them or the people they are entertaining on board.  At the beginning of this story, Stadium Cult will be in their third year of triple platinum status; high from creating several new music projects amongst all thirteen of them.  Collabing with many music makers around the worlds, makes it so they will continue to make up new music.

Thug French is a warlock, hailing from Coven: Syél Voye.  He lyricizes as if he's casting a spell; end result, no choice but to enjoy his incubus ways.  Nyne is a licensed super hero, acts when he's not preparing, crafting or creating his talent of rapping like a Lil Nigga.  Division has been helping with the choreographing & show preparation fo all kinds of venues & scenarios.  He has been studying entertainment majority of his life, making it a piece of cake to handle dancers & stage hands from one world to the next.  Blake Rhymes is a songster who manifests Neo Country/Folk music.  Plays the guitar more like an incubus than he could sing; that's his gimmick, can apply a guitar to any sound.  Etoro Vithius is a songster who manifests Neo Bollywood/Pop music.  With his background in opera, it makes his voice more tremendous as he creates.  He always makes the crowds chant with him, no matter how small or big the venue.  Chocolate acts like a narrator, negotiator, veejay, deejay, public relations & hype man for it all.  So charismatic, you'd think he was an incubus at all times.  With the way he jumps in & out of performances; you can tell it's natural for him to keep a show on track.  Lumithick is a songstress & rapper of versatile dreams.  Siren made, bodacious with the vibes & always cool is her gimmick; everybody loves her.  la Angel is a princess of pop that oozes star quality, nonstop.  She is also a star of an actress, being on the magic moving picture square helps keep Stadium Cult in media; constantly looping.  Quenched is a princess of EDM, keeps it hot; even when the cameras aren't rolling.  Being a definite party girl has their pros; she abuses all of them & intensifies Stadium Cult's personal relations with strangers as they travel.  Whipz is known for bringing out the sexiness in females & males.  Even when it comes to lyrics, if it helps; she went to college for bow chica wow wow.   Ezmyrei is a songstress with a savvy sultry voice; mixing several lyrics into her projects has her labeled as a lyrical genius.  With a history of circus performing, she never misses her mark; it's always hot & high whenever she's solo.  Zatielle brings the rhythm & blues into EDM flawlessly.  Can make your soul quiver, ache & hallucinate; all in the same string of vocals.  She is ultimately superb at ad libing to her entire group & the fellas.  Then there's Twilly Via, Foxy Love is her god mother; I kid, I kid...  But am I?  Twilly Via is certifiably crazy, in all of the good ways.  Beneficial to any party, gathering, event, stage, performance & personality situation.  She is the definition of entertaining & knows how to map out a season for a reality show...

Roses: Yes. It's like I've been saving this one for someone special. Look it's even got the line "I'm not afraid to take that fall" which lines up with the first line from her playlist.

They are holding a slight grudge against Wyatt for calling them short. It's not stopping them from using Starlight as a spot to listen to gossip and secondhand Information about Abarith since they're working with a mostly blank slate aside from 'Izumi has a romantic endeavor around here' and 'There's a God, who like all God's is unimaginably bored and fickle all the time.'

It does mean that they're taking up bar space and only ordering non-alcoholic drinks (or versions of them) and water ( they already asked for tea and got a weird look. ) They are pointedly staring at the back of his head watching him interact with patrons in between reading pages of a book---who even brings a book to a bar?, you might ask.

Lyric. Lyric does. It prevents people from talking to them too easily, because why would they ever want to be social at a bar? What kind of silly thought is that?

   Wyatt doesn’t really care how people spend their time at the bar. The entire point of Starlight is to do what the fuck you want on your level of drunk or sober. He has plenty of people that come just to hang out, others who come to have sex and some who come to get wasted. Casimir, for example, was a frequent floater. He comes in, orders a drink, and drinks that drink slowly the entire time he mingles around trying to pick someone up to fuck them. And that doesn’t bother Wyatt anymore than someone reading a book at his bar. 

   Gossip is common place at Starlight, if you want to learn something it’s your best source to do that. The second best source is Casimir. Wyatt’s come to learn he can pick up anything he wants to know either while bartending or while chatting with Casimir. Despite his rather put-off demeanor, he does enjoy talking to certain people. The incubus is one of them, and Casimir is eager to chat back if given an opening. And while working–Wyatt’s usually got a shot or two in him which greatly loosens his tongue.  

   He makes his way back around the counter over toward the freeloader and Casimir, who had given up chatting for the night it seemed. His head on top of his arms at the bar and a soft sigh leaving him. Wyatt grabs a shot glass and places it down in front of him, filling it with a soft blue liquid and adding a bit of flare to it. It sparks like a set of stars and he shoves it toward the man. “Here. Drink more. That one’s free.”

   “I really shouldn’t drink more. I do have to work tomorrow.” Despite his words he picks the shot glass up, throws it back and then sets it down on the counter. Wyatt snatched it up and placed it down in the bucket to be washed. “Had an off night, or your customers were just boring. I mean one of them is sitting here reading a book. How do you read in the middle of a bar?”
