The cover to Warlock (vol. 1) #9 (October, 1975) by Jim Starlin and Steve Leiahoha.
This was Warlock’s second solo book, picking up the numbering from his original book which had been cancelled mid-story in 1973 (and was later concluded in The Incredible Hulk #176, wherein Warlock died for the first of many times).
This book continues the Magus saga, which had started during Warlock’s run in Strange Tales (vol 1) #178-181.

A Simple Guide On How To Read The Incredible HULK
HULK Grey
Vols 1-6
• Goes over the HULKS origin
• Shows the relationships between Rick Jones, General Ross, and Betty Ross
• The best origin for the HULK
Tales To Astonish
Vol 63
• introduces The Leader
Tales To Astonish
Vols 90-91
• Introduces The ABOMINATION
Incredible HULK
Vols 180-181
• Introduces Hulks rivalry with wolverine
• Also Wolverines first appearance
Peter David HULK run
Vols 331-467
• Foundational to the hulk
• Establishes Bruce’s mental health
• Establishes Bruce’s other personalities
• Most important Hulk run
Incredible HULK
Vols 472 - 474
• Revivals the truth about what happened to Betty
• Shows the rivalry between HULK and the ABOMINATION
Planet HULK
INCREDIBLE HULK #88-95
Giant Size Hulk vol 1
Incredible Hulk 96-105
• Shows that Hulk and Bruce can co exist
• Shows more tragedy from the HULK
World War HULK
Vols 1-5
• Sequel to planet hulk
• Shows how hulk is far from humanity
SKIP 1
Skip a lot because it’s kinda bad and there is a lot of creative choices that are just straight up not it. Frank Cho (the artist for most of the stuff I’m skipping) is a gross creep who over sexualizes all the female characters to the point of no return. All you need to know is that Red Hulk is General Ross and Red She Hulk is Betty Ross
SKIP 2
Civil War 2
This comic is straight ass there is no point in reading it except for the art maybe. All you need to know is that Hawkeye technically kills Bruce Banner and the hulk. Seriously don’t read this it’s annoyingly infuriating
Immortal HULK
Vols 1-50
• Most emotional hulk run
• Goes into everything from the hulks past
• Shows the horror and tragedy of the hulk while also showing the power of it
Phillip Kennedy Johnson HULK run
Vols 1-on going
• Newest HULK run
• Not going to say anything because it is new but it’s pretty much just more of immortal hulk but less ( that sounds like an insult but that’s actually a compliment)

The Incredible Hulk 181 (November 1974)
Len Wein/Herb Trimpe
"Wolverine first showed up as a Hulk villain" is a fairly well-known piece of trivia at this point, but it doesn't make this whole appearance any less weird.
But he sure is here, and he sure is going to explain what his deal is, a whole bunch.
He's small, he's Canadian, and he likes fighting: these are his character traits, and they are repeated ad nauseam in this issue: he's intentionally otherwise mysterious. He's also being nervously watched by a bunch of handsome Canadian air force dudes, who I suppose are canonically the successors to the sadistic mad scientists of the Weapon X project, but have something of a different vibe.
This story was written by Len Wein - who was already cooking up the idea of a rebooted X-Men title at this point - and drawn by Herb Trimpe, although Trimpe didn't design Wolverine, working instead to a design created (the exact outline of who did what is controversial and needn't detain us here) by Roy Thomas and John Romita Jr. He has the much smaller ear-thingies here which didn't last: when another artist, Gil Kane, was drawing the cover for the X-Men relaunch (we're so, so nearly there, I promise) he misinterpreted something and drew them big, but everyone liked that more and stuck with it.
He's actually oddly incidental to the whole issue, though, which has an in-depth plot about a Quebecois sorceress which I won't bore you with: Wolverine gets knocked out by Hulk and drops out of the story shortly before the end.
It's a fine debut, I guess? Obviously it mostly acquires significance in retrospect, but you could do worse for a first showing than being slapped around by Hulk.

Amazing Spider-Man #1 Sells for World Record Price
When Stan Lee and Steve Ditko brought life to Spider-Man, he was far from a sure-fire hit. A teenage hero had never headlined a book before, as they were usually sidekicks. But his debut in Amazing Fantasy #15 was well-received – so well-received that he was given his own title a year later. Now, the first issue of that title has set an auction house record for the highest price paid for that issue in 9.6, via Hake’s Auctions.
Featuring the first appearances of J. Jonah Jameson and The Chameleon, as well as a guest appearance by the Fantastic Four, Amazing Spider-Man #1 is the definition of a “key issue”. This copy, graded 9.6 NM+ by the CGC, came from the John B. Goodrich Collection, where it had resided for 25 years. Recently certified, there are only two copies graded higher (CGC 9.8) according to the CGC Census, and a current total of 4,688 graded copies in existence.
The issue pulled in $520,380, nearly $200,000 more than another 9.6-graded copy that sold in November of 2022. That copy had off-white pages, while this one had white pages – a key difference, even though those pages will never be seen again.
“The result does not surprise me,” said Alex Winter, President of Hake’s Auctions. “You are talking about one of the key issues in all of comics, regardless of era. Add to it all the near impossible-to-get grade of 9.6 and that is what spurred the aggressive bidding. In the end the winning bidder now has one of the top copies in the world of one of the most important books in the Marvel Universe.”
The most recent Hake’s Auction also featured copies of Amazing Fantasy #15 (first Spider-Man), Amazing Spider-Man #2-20 (first appearances of many iconic Spidey villains), Amazing Spider-Man #50 (first Kingpin), Amazing Spider-Man #101 (first Morbius), Amazing Spider-Man #129 (first Punisher), Daredevil #1-7 (first Daredevil) and Incredible Hulk #181-182 (first Wolverine), all from the John B. Goodrich Collection.
