The Syndicate: MRU Edition

I said the Nicktoons games are canon to the MRU version of Fairly Oddparents and I meant it. And, given that Timmy now has powerful new allies and an entirely new type of multiverse lies before them, Crocker proposes to the rest of the Syndicate that they recruit some villains from these new worlds, as well as bring some villains from their own universes and the Nickverse into the fold.

Eh, I'm feeling kinda tired and I wanna update something on here rather than my other accounts, so here's a short thing about a scenario where Matija encounters a Dr. Eggman from a different dimension.

Consider this non-canon to the AU, it's just something I wanted to write.

Also, I've kinda changed his design a bit and should really post a pic of him some time soon.

Anyway, shenanigans happen and Matija ends up captured by the Dr. Eggman of this other world, and he's sitting there without squirming or anything. He's a very boring hostage, cause honestly, he's tired 24/7 and more preoccupied with getting back to his world than stopping whatever's going on here.

Matija's caught in the grasp of a large robot, legs dangling, and his arms are crossed on the robot's index finger like it's a school desk and he's about to doze off. But as Dr. Eggman gloats to the Sonic of that world through a screen, showing off Matija, he says something that catches his attention.

"Now I don't have to worry about dealing with you rodents working together!"

Matija's left ear twitches as his eye opens, looking over at this Eggman, and Sonic yells back, "I'm not a rat! Geez, Eggman, you've gotta come up with something new!"

They keep fussing, and Matija steadily wakes up more, surprised the longer Eggman doesn't actually change what he said. Eventually, he frowns.

"We're not rodents, you know."

"Ugh, now this other you is saying the same—"

"No, like. Ah. This isn't a gripe or anything. We're genuinely not rodents."

Eggman gruffs. "Does it matter what you are if I'll destroy you anyway?"

"No, but the Eggman I know wouldn't be so sloppy."

Eggman pauses, as do the others, watching the scene. Sonic and Knuckles "ooh" like the immature teens they are, goading the situation on.

"Quiet, you!" Eggman grouches, but he turns his head slightly toward the captured version. "...You have my attention, hedgehog."

"Neat," Matija says, smiling tiredly. He then pats the robot's hand. "Mind letting me down, buddy?"

The robot obeys without protest (and without input from Eggman, but he's not paying attention to that), and Matija stuffs his hands in the pockets of his zip-up hoodie as he goes over to the screen, showing the Resistance on the other end.

"Hey, uh, do you have a...share screen sort of thing? Like, to show everyone."

"Of course I do."

"Mind showing me? I'm a lil behind on software stuff."

"Ugh, how tedious..."

But Eggman still shows Matija how to work the laser pointer to open webpages and such and to share screen items. He thanks the doctor before pulling up a website and several pictures.

"Okay, so, rodents are mammals in the order Rodentia. Their most prominent feature tends to be their sharp, ever-growing front teeth. That's actually the, uh, defining feature of rodents. The Latin making the name, rodere, means 'to gnaw'."

He shows a diagram of an ordered, non-mobian mouse.

"They're typically small to medium-sized creatures with two rootless incisors on the upper and lower jaws. They typically have prominent gaps between the incisors and molars or premolars."

Another click, and it shows a non-mobian guinea pig eating vegetables alongside their buddy.

"They're omnivores and facultative herbivores, with a large part of their diet containing grains, seeds, nuts, fruits, vegetables, and natural grasses. Certain rodents eat more hay or plant matter than others, though most enjoy a wide variety of seeds. On occasion, they may partake in meat-eating in protein-poor environments."

Another click, and he shows a phylogenetic tree of Rodentia, including mice, rats, naked mole rats, guinea pigs, capybaras, beavers, porcupines, chinchillas, and other similar creatures.

"Of course, some of the features you see in the ordered creatures aren't prominent in mobians. For example, mobian rodents lack the gap between the incisors and the rest of their teeth. Because mobians are all omnivorous and, generally, able to digest both meat and plant matter, we have jaws better built for chewing, tearing, and crunching. Mobian rodents still have longer, sharper incisors, but they aren't ever-growing like their ordered cousins—"

"Alright, alright already! Get to the point!" Eggman yells.

"Ah, my bad. Yeah, so—"

He clicks, and he shows the picture of a non-mobian rodent's skull.

Another click, and he shows the skull of a hedgehog. Eggman's eyebrows actually rise up.

"It's a common misconception that hedgehogs are rodents because of their small size and meeting most other requirements for being a rodent. However, our ordered cousins are insectivores, which requires a different tooth configuration entirely."

He circles his pointer around the small fangs on the hedgehog's jaws.

"Hedgehogs, mobian or otherwise, have less prominent incisors than rodents, with a larger focus on our canines, molars, and premolars. Almost all of our teeth have prominent points, save for the molars furthest back in our mouths. This is because ordered hedgehogs are, largely, insectivores. They need sharp, crushing teeth to get through insect carapaces."

He clicks over to a GIF of a small brown non-mobian hedgehog chewing with all the strength in their little body on a grub.

"Or, you know, to get through all the chewy stuff. But yeah, even their incisors are kinda pointy. Mobian hedgehogs, like myself, Sonic, Amy Rose, and Shadow, have flatter incisors because of our more varied diets. We also have four incisors on our top and bottom jaws, not two. Given, mobian rodents also have four incisors, differentiating them from their ordered cousins, but that's less to do with their species and more to do with the flow of Chaos energy."

He then clicks a button, and a question mark shows up where the pictures once were. Despite his eyes being half-closed and tired, he shakes one of his hands in a half-hearted attempt of excitement, a smile spreading on his face.

"So, quiz time for anyone who wants to answer."

Click. A porcupine.

"Is this a rodent?"

Of course, entranced by the lesson, Tails quickly raises his hand.

"Oo, oo, I know?"

"Hehe, yeah. Tails?"

"Yes! Porcupines are rodents!"

"Bingo~"

Matija claps as the question mark turns into a gold star. Tails' namesakes flick with pride as the others around him praise him.

"Next up, how about this guy?"

Click. A rabbit.

Knuckles decided to try. "Yeah, right? Because of the teeth."

"Aah, you're close, but not quite."

"What?! But you said..."

He clicks the button, showing the skull of an ordered rabbit.

"See here? A rabbit has four incisors, not two. Part of what makes an ordered rodent what it is comes down to the number of incisors. Rodents only have two incisors on their top and bottom jaws."

"Oh..."

"That was a really good try, though. And believe me, you're not the only one to make that mistake. Keep up the good work~"

Matija claps, and despite Knuckles getting it wrong, he still gets a silver star image. He crosses his arms but is at least somewhat mollified by the fact he got some good feedback.

"Now, what about this?"

Click. A paca.

This one had the participating ones stumped, looking at each other and discussing what they thought it was. Eventually, Amy rose a tentative hand.

"Uhm... I can't quite tell, but is it a rodent?"

"Yeah! Despite how it looks, this guy only has two incisors on each jaw that keep growing throughout its life! Pacas are rodents~"

"Whoa! Way to go, Amy!" Sonic cheers, the others joining in on congratulating her as the photo turns into a gold star. She blushes, rubbing at the back of her head with a smile.

"So, with all that out of the way, last but not least, what about...this guy?"

Instead of a photo in the corner, it disappears, and Matija poses, eyes half-closed and sleepy, as he points at his own face. One of his fangs peeks from the side of his mouth.

"Not a rodent! I get it already!" Eggman yells, his face red with anger.

"Well, as long as you get it," Matija shrugs. "Thanks for letting me borrow this."

The doctor keeps grumbling angrily as he hands it back before going back over to the robot that previously had a hold on him. He steps back into position as the hand wraps around him again and picks him up, his feet dangling off the ground like before.

"So yah, if you want to insult Sonic, you can't say rodent. It's not accurate, and of course, it's key to be correct in your statements," he hums, yawning as he crosses his arms to pillow his head on it again. "Hedgehogs are eulipotyphlan. Doesn't really roll off the tongue, but it's accurate."

"...Are you sure that's a version of you?" Knuckles asked, looking at Sonic. "He's way too smart to be you."

"Heeey—"

"And too tired. Is he okay? I think he's gone to sleep already," Amy murmurs.

Sure enough, when Eggman looks over, grumbling, he sees the hedgehog is indeed asleep despite just speaking moments before.

"Arrrrgh!!! Whatever. This ruined my mood. Anyway, he's still my hostage! Save him or something. I'm out!!"

He shuts off the com screen and starts stomping his way out of the room. Though, he does stop before exiting, glancing back at the sleeping hedgehog.

"Orbot! Cubot! Find an empty room for our guest! Nothing too cozy, though!"

...

And yes, if you're wondering, it's stuff like this that helps Matija keep his Eggman from causing as much trouble as he actually could. though, he doesn't have to try nearly as hard since his dad Eggman is easily self-amused.

But yeah, Matija ended up studying a lot of animal science so he could monitor how the Chao in the greenhouse at Base Prime in his world would grow up. It's just a lecture from the No.1 Chao Caretaker.

They aren’t frivolous, although many people assume they are.

They’ve been with humanity since humanity figured out what it was to be human, since the first flickers of consciousness and the self invaded the minds of previously innocent and unaware primates. They never needed to be invited in.

A remarkable number of other gods can be considered their subordinates, if looked at from the right angle. Patrice Angel, Polly Chrome, dear Tesla Jefferson—they are autonomous all, and yet they serve Liv. Liv, who says sweetly, “If your body is your temple, decorate it to your liking. Knock out a few walls, change the curtains, make it something you can live with. Because no one else gets to decide the shape of your space. No one else gets to tell you what’s right for you. Become the person you were born to be, whoever that person is.”

They aren’t frivolous. Their works can be transitory—the pierced eyebrow that seems like a wonderful idea in college, the drunken tattoo that gets lasered away in sober shame—but that doesn’t mean they don’t matter.

They stand with the preteen staring at the makeup aisle with wide, longing eyes, thoughts of the way his father will react warring with the need to paint his face the way it looks in his dreams. They stand with the teen who binds growing breasts and sobs, either because they’re growing too big, too fast, and shattering the remains of her fleeting childhood against the rocks of sudden sexualization and inappropriate adult attention, or because adults who believe they know better than anyone else have blocked his access to the hormones that would have allowed him to control the shape of his body as it always should have been. They stand with the adults those teens become, sitting in white rooms and looking at solemn doctors, begging to be allowed to repair the damage done by other hands.

They aren’t frivolous. They only want the house in which you live to feel like a home, no matter what anyone else may think of it.

And they’re always down for a bitchin’ new tattoo. Because even the more serious of gods is allowed to enjoy themself from time to time.

Management of Unerupted Lateral Incisor by LASER Assisted Surgical Exposure

Introduction- Maxillary incisors are aesthetically important, parents often notices it first and are troubled (1,2). The children are bullied or teased due to delayed eruption resulting in psychological complications. It is necessary to bring the unerupted incisor into its correct position with proper monitoring and timely surgical orthodontic intervention so as no prosthetic solution is required as nothing is better than tooth itself. LASER have its advantages over conventional scalpel for the surgical exposure of the unerupted incisors.

Diagnosis of unerupted incisors-

A) Clinical evaluation-

1) Firstly patient’s chronological age and dental age should be examined to determine if there is delayed eruption or not.

2) The amount of space available for the eruption of tooth, space loss, midline shift, position of the adjacent teeth, and contour of the bone should be examined

3) Palpation of the labial bulge on the mucosa if visible and if not visible then evaluation by radiograph

4) The distance from the mucogingival junction - An adequate amount of keratinized gingival tissue that is under proper plaque control, is a fundamental requirement for periodontal health. Labially or buccally erupting teeth show reduced dimensions of gingiva as abnormal eruption of permanent teeth restricts or eliminates the keratinized tissue between the erupting cusp and the deciduous tooth. A lack of attached gingiva (keratinized gingiva) poses a potential risk for gingival recession in labially or buccally erupted teeth due to the possibility of accumulation of plaque and/or traumatic tooth-brushing.

B) Radiographic evaluation- The accurate location of the unerupted lateral incisor by the conventional two - dimensional radiographs is done. For the exact estimation of buccolingual position a second periodical film is obtained by using a) Clark’s rule b) Buccal-object rule. CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) can be used to avoid multiple exposure and to know the accurate position of the tooth.

1) Firstly determine the presence of lateral incisors and if bone is present on the erupting tooth buds

2) The amount of root formed

In this case the patient’s chronological age was 9 years suggesting of delayed eruption of lateral incisor. Palpation of the painless incompressible labial fibromucosal protuberance or bulge is done to locate the crown. It is supported by the intraoral periapical radiograph. No bone is seen on the crown of the unerupted lateral incisor. The location and size of window to be made during surgical exposure is determined to be 1mm below the mucogingival junction.

Treatment- Pioon S1 blue dental LASER of 450 nm wavelength was used for the surgical exposure of lateral incisor.

This consist of following steps:

1) Isolation of area followed by application of topical anaesthetic agent.

2) Marking the shape, extent and site of window of exposure by making dots with LASER at lesser power settings using 400 micron tip. (Fig 1)

3) Removal of the tissue at higher power setting with 400 micron tip in non-contact mode.

The complete safety protocols were followed for the patient, operating and assistant staff like using laser protective eye glasses and use of high vacuum suction. Highly reflective instruments were avoided while using lasers. (Fig 2)

Rationale for the use of LASER- LASER assisted surgical procedure has various advantages. Incision performance, hemostasis, reduced pre and post-operative oedema and pain hence the accelerated wound healing and reduced healing time resulting in less discomfort and reduced need of analgesics.

In paediatric patient behavioural guidance of children in the operative and perioperative period is a special challenge. Use of topical anaesthetic agent, no scalpel and less blood results in better cooperation from the children. It also aids in patient homecare and allows for better bracket repositioning and final detailing.

Conclusion - When unerupted tooth is not deeply placed, surgical exposure with Pioon LASER at 450 nm allows conservation of attached gingiva, no injection, less bleeding during surgery, less use of analgesic and anti-inflammatory drugs, minimal postoperative complication and also immediate placement of orthodontic brackets so less appointments as well. Hence LASER represents indispensable modality to treat paediatric patients with ease.

It wasn’t too noticeable, until it was.

The loss of his “inner voice” felt like realizing, only when the water had swept it out of reach, that his paper boat had caught upon strong currents. It was like a fading memory– one that slipped away so peculiarly that its absence was defined by the emotions it left behind.

He had gotten used to the small rumble deep within his chest reminding him of his humanity during fights.

It pulled his punches and nudged his thoughts from, “MY territory. MINE. kill kill kill outside-ghost. Blemishes in MY land,” to, “why is this ghost doing what it is doing, and how can I help diffuse the situation?”

The rumble feeling would calm his incisors and clear his mind. And it was always there in ghost form.

Last week, he had realized that it was missing only after he blasted the bank ghost into oblivion. The ghost had a genuine obsession of robbing banks.

Danny felt justified going after it. He could and would hurt this ghost for traumatizing so many. He could zap the ghost with a few ice rays and get everyone to safety. No one would fault him for taking a bit longer to make the ghost subdue enough to fit into the Fenton thermos. Or, even better, he could kill it right then.

And somehow, with a nod and a smile, he did.

Danny rushed the ghost, sending rapid fire ice blasts ahead to slow it down. And then it was the simple matter of smashing it into the wall and smiling a little too wide as he slammed his hand into the ghost’s torso and pulsed electricity. He reveled as it withered.

He stood there for a moment, soaking in the power-over, when he heard a gasp and choked tears. He twisted around in a flash, pinpointing the sound. It was a human child, maybe elementary age. And all of a sudden the rumble was back.

He took an aborted step backwards, hitting the body of the ghost he’d just killed in front of a child. He’d- fuck. He’d failed to take note of the surroundings. How could he have been so single-minded?

The next fight, he hadn’t realized his arm was gone until he collapsed into his bed that night. He stared, frozen at the sight of the logged limb …and the curious lump growing out of it.

He poked it.

It mushed slightly, sparking green where his fingers touched.

He shrugged.

Several hours later, he awoke wide-eyed and breathing hard, and wondered why it took him so long to notice his arm was gone.

Danny had tried to recreate the rumble by humming during his fights, but lately he was laser-focused on the action. And… he noticed that the less he felt the rumble, the faster his arm would grow back. In one four-hour stretch when he was fighting Technus, his arm grew twice more than it had during his sleep the night before.

And all of a sudden he heard Sam and Tucker and Jazz saying, you’re different, what’s happening.

But he was caught up in the current. And the rumble was gone.

(OLD) Little Witch Academia: Monster Witches Bio - Were Witches

Hello everyone, back again with another post for my Monster Witches AU! This time to talk about biology and abilities the girls have in these new beastly forms. Starting with the were's. I'll be using Akko for an example on how things work for them, then get to the other's as it gets more specific.

Akko can control how much of the animal she turns into, giving her certain features in specific percentages. 0% means she looks like a normal person, with no animalistic features to speak of. 25% means she has cat ears and a cat tail, along with cat pupils and fangs. So basically she looks like a typical cat girl you'd see in anime in this percentage. 50% means that she's covered in fur now, along with whiskers. She also gains claws in this percentage, but they aren't retractable. 75% means she looks like a large monstrous cross between humanoid and feline, while also having the ability to retract her claws. She's also incredibly strong in this form and gains more durability. 100% means she looks like a giant feral cat, like she comes to the same shoulder height as canon Ursula in this form.

Her 100% form looks like a cross between a house cat and a black panther. Her fur is brunette like her hair color, with white fur at the tip of her tail and in/around her cat ears. She has subtle hints of Jaguar-like spots on her fur in her 75% and 100% forms, and she even has small saber-teeth that are hidden when her mouth is closed. She's as playful as as a house cat regardless of any percentage she's in, and is often seen pouncing on Diana, despite the many times Diana has told her to stop. She reacts to catnip the same way cats do, and is often easily distracted by a laser pointer. She's also as lazy any cat is, taking multiple cat naps throughout the day to get her 18 needed hours of sleep. Or so she claims.

Wangari is a Wereleopard, meaning she's similar to a Werecat, but with obvious differences. As for Wangari's transformations, same as Akko's, except her 100% leopard form would be like twice as big as Akko's 100% cat form. As a Leopard, Wangari would be rather strong. While her true muscle mass isn't properly shown in her 0% through 50% forms, it is really visible in her 75% and 100% forms. Regardless, she is incredibly strong even in her 0% form, and her strength only increases the further she goes down the line. Just lile Akko's complete cat form, Wangari's complete Leopard form has traits that are common for a were's complete forms, looking pretty feral and has small saber-teeth that are hidden when her mouth is closed. Wangari also loves to climb trees, which makes sense in all honesty. She often climbs trees and use them to either take cat naps, surprise people, hide, eat her secret candy stache when Joanna feels like having a sweet tooth, etc. This does help with her news anchoring skills as well. She's able to silently stalk students and hide in trees while she reports on the situation.

Mary is a Were-Jackalope, which even I will admit is a strange combination, but it's a neat thing to turn into regardless. Same rule applies for her different forms, but she has both ears and antlers in her 25% form and going forward. Except the antlers get bigger as the transformation progresses. She would also lack fangs, and instead she would gain rabbit incisors that would stick out of her mouth a little in her 25% form, up into her 100% form. She needs to chew on something rough daily as to wear them down, otherwise they'll get overgrown and she'll need help from others to get them to a much more manageable size. In her complete Jackalope form, she'd be like the exact same size as a large Border Collie. She's able to jump 12 feet into the air and leap 36 feet into the distance with her powerful hind legs. She's has amazing yet very sensitive hearing, able to hear a pin drop from miles away. She uses this to her advantage and can pretty tell whatever and whenever anything happens in Luna Nova.

Katie is a Weresheep, something that even I'm surprised is an actual creature from mythology. Same rule applies for her when it comes to transforming, except her 100% sheep form looks much less feral than the other were's. Her complete sheep form is about the size of a cow, with about as much kicking power in her legs. She's also been seen moving around in a way that many describe "As a Bucking Bronco that's as high as a kite" whenever she's spooked in that form. So many do their best not to scare her. In her 25% form, her hair is rather soft and bushy like wool. Its even had an effect on people, causing them yo become drowsy and sleep if they make contact with the wool for too long. Katie's complete sheep form also has the ability to make a 'baaahh' at a certain frequency that allows her to put many of the Luna Nova populace and nearby town into a a rather deep sleep. While she would never do this, she still thinks about the reasons she would need to, just in case. In her 25% form, she gains small little horns that barely poke out of her hair. Just like Mary's antlers, they grow as her transformation progresses. Katie also has a bad habit of clothing and stuff like bed sheets. She tries not to do this, but it's her addiction I guess.
