Whats a writing trope you hate?

Bunny: Easy. The “girl gets to hit boy” trope

I’ve hated this trope since I was a kid! Because it’s completely biased. This goes for a lot of gendered tropes like “girl also stalks boy.”

My brain auto defaults to “what if the genders were reversed? Would it be acceptable then?”

Like if a character is dumb or acting up, that doesn’t give you the right to smack him? That is only acceptable if it’s self defense!

But that even has a hard limit!

I’ve expressed my absolute hatred for Mahiru Inami from the anime Working!!!

This bitch likes to pretend she’s all shy and timid but she is an absolute monster. She will punch men just for standing fucking near her (like they’re minding their own business!) and she has Sakura-like strength too!

From Wikipedia: She has androphobia and is thus terrified of men; she punches any male that comes near her.

Like??? Imagine if a guy had a fear of girls and he went around hitting them AND it was made for laughs?! I think it’d be horrifying! So why is it funny for the reverse to be the same?!

So yeah, Girls Hitting Boys trope is awful.
