What's in the (light) box?

First things first. Hello to any of my facebook and other Meta friends who have made it over here. Hi. And bleep Zuck.

Tonight we take a look at my new lightbox without the stress of having to worry about getting ready for work.

The previous photos were taken with the front of the box wide open. We start with the front closed but the portal flap removed.

Nikon D600 and the 105mm f/2.8D macro lens at f/8, aperture priority. I'll stay at f/8 for these until someone tells me different.

I was led to believe my camera can do focus stacking. Unfortunately, it cannot. I'll have to find other ways to account for Akane's foot or Ginko's hand.

I swapped out the yellow background for the black plastic one. The auto ISO went from 640 to 6400 with just that change. I added the bare bulb from the lighting kit just behind the camera. The ISO didn't change.

So much for that. I swapped out for the grey.

For the rest of the evening, I decided to play with my ultra-wide zoom, the 17-35mm f/2.8D.

First up, just as shown, no extra lights.

But howzabout I add the reflector umbrella like this?

I like the result.

Akane lets me get really funky with the wide angle effect.

Ginko Sora and shoji. Name a more iconic duo.

Looking up to Tortura. We should all look up to Tortura.

The lens itself casts a shadow on Popura at this distance.

I moved the umbrella so it's a little more overhead.

It's been a fun first few days putting this new gear through its paces. As always, the boops go out to @sirfrogsworth for his insight. I brag about your help to my friends when they tell me how I've improved.
