In accordance with Navy tradition, submariners are thrown over the side of their boats to commemorate special occasions such as qualifying for their submarine dolphin insignia or ending a war patrol with an advancement in rating.

In 1960, six submariners from USS Amberjack (SS-522) who had earned their dolphins were thrown overboard just as a destroyer passed nearby. Unfamiliar with the tradition, the captain of the destroyer signaled "WHAT HAPPENED?" Amberjack responded "UNSHINED SHOES."

That's it, im going commando.

My pen scratched with gale force as I signed the damned document. How eager a young nipper I was to join the Navy. My dream was to see their one-man band perform in the band stand from the comfort of the grandstand.

To hell with it all! I say, since the war ended and maritime radios weren't so trendy, the stollen-cake spies have been out of business.

'May Day, May Day!' I cried, into the gale-force winds. I dare confide my jolly sailor's cap unfixed from its jaunty angle, and unseamed me from the knave to the chaps! I digress, perchance.

I looked up then down then all around, what was a jolly giant doing in a place like this? As swift as a butter knife I dove into the water (Not to say we were anywhere near the cliffs of Dover! Oh how I do like to be beside the seaside...) Alas, I go on a tangent.

I write here now, on the back of a sperm whale, as an enemy of the state. Deserted, a deserter, what's for dessert?

Insanity is setting in. Judging by the position of the sun I can see it's nighttime, around 12am non-army time I will set my sights on the horizon, an enemy O' the state. I will swim with the fish and yell Sayonara to my old life.

Whenever I see any posts (rightly) making fun of military or navy recruitment trying to appeal to lbgtq people, I remember the music video for “In The Navy” and how that was supposedly done unknowingly and caused a huge scandal. Anybody who got fired for that at the time must be so pissed about the Navy drag queen recruitment ads.

Edit: With the amount of notes this has received I want to make it clear (since people who have reblogged and added their own opinions to this, one saying to completely shun studies in total that garnered a lot of attention) that while these studies specifically geared toward veterans are meant to help and were possibly requested from the previous administration, extreme caution should still be advised and you should do your research as others have suggested.

Our dearest Trump has allowed ending of employment for whatever reason now regardless of disability, race, gender, sexuality etc., we all know what Meta has turned into and what the current administration probably has to do with that and definitely has to do with the TikTok ban... I'm just saying do not be surprised if somehow these records end up being used for more harm than good if they just decide it'll be a... fun weekend hobby.

I want people to make informed decisions regardless of what they decide! But they have made it very clear on the kind of people they are and what they will do to harm any sort of minority. Please consider that when you call this "unnecessary fear mongering", as well. They are already erasing valid data/searches from social medias and valuable sources. The most important thing is safety.
