'sup I'm confused critter. I'm a shapeshifterkin and I will turn into whatever, but I have found myself circling around the aquatic, equine, bird, and often canine themes. I briefly questioned this one shapeshifting fae, and I think it may be, but I honestly have no idea. My username isn't confused-critter for no reason, after all.

Edit (5/11/24): I would like to note that I also apparently turn into people. Why does my everything need to be so complicated?

full name: Annika Maurie "Janus" Belvoir (for now, also Janus is not the set name so their tag stays annika, not his deadname she still uses it just has another name as well. the name collector over here)

his moms Leonie Belvoir née Rosier, Druella's sister. Leonie is an eccentric and not very well liked woman that was ostracized from her family until recently

on the other hand, Annika lives with her dad in Bristol and has since she was nine, hasn't seen their mom since either. timeline just so happens to line up that Leonie leaving their family let her rejoin her own

despite Annika being a first cousin to Narcissa, Bellatrix, and Andromeda she's never met them and knows next to nothing about them outside of them being his cousins. the first family member on that side that she gets to know is Sirius due to them both being gryffindors, they think he's weird but alright

Annika's not the biggest fan of the marauders but thinks James and Peter are pretty funny, absolutely hates Remus later in their school career. most one sided rivalry ever. saw him and the marauders late one full moon night post them becoming animagi and instead of thinking he was a werewolf thought he was just really ahead in his animagus studies and has hated him since. dramatic and somewhat stupid king. very confused confrontation later on where Remus is convinced Annika knows and Annika is convinced Remus is gatekeeping his technique, once Remus figured out what Annika thinks though just points her towards the other marauders to learn about it. hating thus cancelled

sometime in the second semester of year one her hair is burnt as a prank by some asshole and it's the first time Annika's ever looked in the mirror and recognized himself

Though very rare, it is possible for a horse that looks like this to occur in real life!

This is due to a gene that is only able to be seen on horses with a black base (including bays) known as the silver gene! This gene isn't particularly rare, but usually, it produces a silver or white color to the mane and tail, but it has been known to turn the mane and tail blonde, and very rarely it will make them red.

Aah yes!! I did not know what that gene was called, but iirc Epona's design, too, is based on that mutation!

You could argue it's why Ingo was so keen on gifting her to Ganondorf, if her mutation was similar enough to Gerudo horses to breed them!

My Kintypes

It's a lot. So I officially identify was a shapeshifter, but that's not all. In the ye old days when I first made a tumblr (which I accidentially deleted but we don't talk about that here) I identified as a Veela. A slavic fae that can shapeshift into a horse, wolf, deer, or falcon. For a bit, I was content. Until a mermaid crashed through my window and landed in my bathtub.

I had no idea how to deal with the whole mermaidkin thing. I knew you could have multiple identities, yeah, that's true and valid, but something didn't feel right. I felt like the mermaidkin thing wasn't a separate kintype.

So I dabbled further. It wasn't until I gave an ask to a semi-celebrity tumblr kin that the truth (or at least I think it's the truth) slapped me in the face like a wet fish.

I had never known what a polymorph, nor a shapeshifter was until that post, and, well, I honestly felt a little stupid. But hey, I figured it out, didn't I?
