Happy C0DA Day! In honor of the C0DA, here’s an imgur album of some of the art (in various stages of completion) for my Velothiid Come project. I have shamelessly ripped off Mark Waid to turn his Kingdom Come story into a Tomorrowind tale of the ages.

Set in a world spinning out of control, VELOTHIID COME is a riveting, alternate reality story pitting the old guard – Vivec, Sotha Sil, Almalexia and others – against a new, uncompromising generation of supermer in a war that will determine the future of the Mundus.

So, I wrote a 16 page Professor Numinatus comic. I’ve been striking out left and right trying to get an artist locked in. Most are unfamiliar with TES in general or are too busy. So, thought I’d post here, if anybody has comic drawing skills and wants some paid work, hit me up.

The Xeril's Bane is a relatively obscure ship from the Second Era, often claimed to have arrived upon Tamriel's shores due to events happening centuries before during the Reman Dynasty. Though many restless sailors have made claims of their ancestors sighting such a ship, there has not been a single shred of evidence of its existence, even less of its home country.

It has been said that its captain, Captain Yori ut-Salumeht, was the fiercest pirate-queen of Lyg, clashing with legendary forces such as the All-Flags Navy and dueling Tiber Septim to a stalemate. The story with the most credence, judging strictly from multiple accounts, is the legend of the Crown Jewels of the Noormoqh Hegemony. The details of that legend are still being uncovered but the legend says that even Tiber Septim, blessed be his names, envied the jewels and coveted them for his own personal collection. An addendum to this addition to the library is forthcoming pending further vivisection of Hiaûŗochian myth-writs.

RE: Comic

It’s still coming. Those things are hella expensive. Like, thousands of dollars expensive. It’ll come.

Man y’know it’s kinda funny that I ever even half-bought into that “end of canon” thing. I mean, I know ultimately why I and a lot of other people did: C0DA was supposed to be way more than another fucking script, for one thing. I think a lot of people hadn’t yet realized that MK tended to promise about twice as much as he was capable of delivering on, if not more. Beyond that, the entire #memospore debacle, the (in hindsight) hilariously overwrought ARG that was never going anywhere and never had any solutions in the first place… it was a lot of excitement and energy and it was easy to get caught up in.

But like, the sheer self-importance of the “no canon” talking points is amusing to me. I remember people taking these really self-righteous stands about it - “getting rid of canon is bucking the copyright trends that have strangled artists in the modern day - we’re going back to when all works were shared and could be iterated on” like

there were actual arguments made that this was going to be the start of some sort of storytelling revolution that spread out from TES to reach other things. Not to mention the constant presence in #memospore and elsewhere of this “us vs them” attitude that made every interaction with the BGSF mods and developers hostile and antagonistic for no reason. If there was a “canon war” then it was one created wholly by the lore community.

And seriously, was I alone in expecting c0da to actually be a comic? MK DID promise that, didn’t he?

Yeah, I think his excitable nature puts blinders on him to the fact that a good amount of people (won’t name names but they’re the reason I hardly post anymore in any of the groups) are elitist pricks. I mean, I’m not innocent, I’ve been a true dick in the past but I’ve had to step away over the past year and reexamine my role in those events. I now see how toxic that shit is and really off-putting it is to anyone from the proverbial “outside”. 

Further to the point of C0DA, it accomplished nothing. It was a cool story if you’re into that brand of TES (some days I love it, some days I want more mundane stories, I mean, I’m writing Tomorrowind comics so it’s evident that I love the weird) but its supposed intent fell extremely flat to the point of redundancy. Upon reflection, it’s an idea that already had roots in the community and, despite its message of acceptance and tolerance, has only catalyzed dissension and spite. 

scourgicus is my friend, and he’s a nice person, but he is very…. deluded about c0da. and mk. and the lore crowd he runs with. he interacts with them all the time and cannot even see what assholes they are.
