when teach goes "either you are unkillable, friend... or way overdue" it awakens something primal in my brain

i keep thinking about the fact that unlike sy (who never even thought about how his family might feel about him dying), airplane actually had the option to go back to his family and ultimately decided not to.
like imagine being a parent and finding out that your child chose a life that didn’t have you in it.
just think about the guilt that his parents must have felt when they heard the news. each of them are enjoying time with their new families, but they haven’t spoken to their son in a while. he’s in college though so he’s probably fine. he’s not reaching out saying that he needs help or money or anything though he never asked for much when he was home either.
then they get the call. and they find out that he died alone in his apartment. he was electrocuted while trying to salvage his laptop. and they think he didn’t have to die this way. he never asked them for anything, and now they know that he desperately needed them. he never mentioned how much he struggled, and maybe he would have if they had been in contact more often. but they were too caught up in their own lives to pay attention to him.
no parent should have to out-live their child, but they distanced themselves so much from him that they couldn’t even be there for him when he died.
cough your child could have lived a long, happy, & healthy life and eventually die of old age surrounded by people they love. but instead he died when he was young and alone because he didn’t feel comfortable sharing his problems with you cough cough

The Green Council had a whole assassination attempt ready to go when Viserys died.
Now Alicent is obviously still hung up on the “Rhaenyra” of it all, and Aegon hasn’t a clue what he’s doing, but you’re telling me that Otto “Daemon would be second Maegor!” Hightower, or Criston “Rhaenya is a cunning spider” Cole never stopped and thought, “Gee, you know if we were planning to send assassins to Dragonstone, I bet Daemon or Rhaenyra could manage to sneak a couple of guys into the castle they both lived in for years, in a city where a significant portion of the inhabitants are still loyal to them 🤔 Oh on that note! We should also probably do something about the fact that the City Watch is essentially a Daemon Targaryen fanclub with swords and fun gold uniform.”

The hurt bicyclist in episode 2x04 of the Bear is a microcosm of the show’s themes in the best and most agonizing way. He’s bloody and injured, pinned down by the fence and unable to move until Marcus helps him up, and then in order to overcome the symbolic language barrier they share a tender hug of gratitude. In that moment I found myself hoping everything would be okay, even as the ominous music told me it wouldn’t be. Because then the man immediately gets back on the bike as if it is inevitable. As if returning to the thing that hurt him is his only option. And although Marcus says “after you sure you want to get back on the bike?” the man doesn’t respond because he lacks the ability to discuss his safety/feelings with Marcus. He just rides away.

all the while society conflates "being an adult" with "having a proper job" and "having money to make arbitrary Adult Purchases" disabled people who can't work - or can only work part time or can only do entry level baby jobs - will never be 'allowed' to be adults
you can say "being an adult is looking after yourself you don't have to have a job!!!" all you want but most people who say that will still assume anybody who doesn't either can't or won't 'look after themselves' actually. and every 'marker' of 'adulthood' that's observable and thus actually counts or whatever loops back around to... having a job and 'contributing' something
