In the wake of what's going on in the world, I see a lot of rhetoric that basically boils down to the idea that everyone has a responsibility to watch every bad thing that's going on in the world all the time. That awareness itself is a responsibility that everyone has always.
I'm not going to say that people do or don't have a responsibility to be aware of things, but I want to talk about how to take care of yourself and others while doing so.
For some context, I spent close to a year and a half reading about every terrorist attack in the world as part of my work on the Global Terrorism Database. It was 2015/2016, so this was the height of ISIS/Daesh, it was a major time for Boko Haram, and it was when there was a lot of political violence that we weren't sure how to classify in places like Yemen, Crimea, and Libya (stuff the GTD didn't know how to classify had all of is information recorded, and then it went into purgatory until someone above my paygrade decided what to do with it). What this means is that I was spending 10-20 hours a week reading about hundreds or thousands of attacks a month and, in my case, recording infomation about the type of attack and the type of weapon. Much of my life was reading terrible things.
Limit what you do in isolation. One of the worst changes for me during that time, mental health-wise (even though it was great for my commute) was when I went from working in-person to working remotely. With other people, there are ways to diffuse the pain. A burden shared is a burden halved and all that. That may mean talking about it, or joking about it, or finding some other way to engage with it that isn't just reading about the most horrible things in the world and then stewing in your own thoughts about them.
Find something to do that's totally unrelated. I highly recommend finding something to do with your hands, if you can (knitting, Lego, cooking, whatever), but regardless of what it is, you should have some time when you entirely switch away to something different. During a fair amount of my time with the GTD, I was also doing my undergrad thesis about terrorism on TV, so a huge amount of my life was about terrorism in some way. The only other thing I watched was Great British Bake Off, and I would just rewatch the episodes, over and over.
Be compassionate about how you share information and with whom. Use trigger warnings, and consider using consistent tagging on places like Tumblr so people can blacklist it if they need to. Also consider whether it's appropriate or necessary to share photos of bodies or other results of horrible violence. What is it accomplishing, to show that? Can that goal be accomplished other ways that don't require the equivalent of jumpscares of unexpected photos of dead or brutalized people? Are you just showing it because you think that everyone should have to see it? If you are showing it, are there ways to mitigate against harm it may do?
Do what you can to avoid an echo chamber. Sometimes, when everyone around you is upset or angry about the same thing, it just amplifies itself, and you all get angrier and more upset in perpetuity without accomplishing anything.
Work towards action. Watching terrible things happen for the sake of saying that you haven't looked away isn't as meaningful as taking action in some way. Write to your Congressperson. Donate. Do whatever is appropriate for the thing you want to stop. But penance via watching terrible things happen doesn't accomplish anything.
Recognize compassion fatigue and do what you can to mitigate it. If you spend long enough doing this, you start to lose context, and you start to become less able to have compassion about things. If you're reading about attacks with dozens or hundreds of deaths regularly, five can start to not seem like that many. If you're reading only about the worst suffering in the world, "lesser" suffering of those around you can start to seem unimportant and petty. Do what you can to mitigate that.
Be kind to yourself. You do nobody any good if you burn out. Look away, if you need to. Take a break. Do things so you can enjoy life, because otherwise you are just another person suffering in the world. Other people's pain isn't a hair shirt for you to wear.

hihi!!! i absolutely adore isat and it inspired me to start making my own rpgmaker game, so i had a quick question for you! if you haven't talked about it before, how did you personally go about finding a publisher? im pretty early in my own development process but it just seems like a daunting thing to find one :o
i hope you have a wonderful day!!! :3
I'm so good at bideo game that they came to ME (sparkles) thanks start again a prologue for showing publishers I can do game good
Here's some advice for finding publishers tho (source: I have eyes, and I've taken classes about this):
-first, ask yourself: why do you need a publisher? Money, marketing, producing, all of the above? There are lots of options out there that aren't getting a publisher. You can just hire a producer (like my producer Dora Breckinridge <3)
-have a pitch ready!!!! you can find examples of pitches online, but I highly recommend looking at the Bear & Breakfast one for example. At the very least you should have concept art, if not mockups of what the game could look like, if not actual screenshots
-making a good pitch is art. Highly recommend having someone look it over. Rami Ismail has consultations available just for that purpose and he knows his stuff (all the advice I have comes from him! I took a great class of his a couple months ago)
-once you have a pitch ready, email it to literally every publisher out there. yes I know you're making an rpg and this publisher is only looking for platformers, but send it to them anyway. They will not blacklist you for this lol, worst case scenario is that they won't look at it.
-if you get zero answers, redo your pitch. If you get a couple, that's the ticket. Look at their offers and take the best one. Only say no to the others once you got that shit signed. If you get a BUNCH of answers, it means your idea rules and you could probably self publish it and don't need a publisher. But take one anyway if you want (especially for your first game!)
-having a vertical slice is always good for pitching, but not always needed? (AKA a slice of your game that shows off the story, gameplay, etc... aka shows you know how to do this)
-once you get a publisher contract, ASK A VIDEO GAME LAWYWR TO LOOK IT OVER. NOT JUST A LAWYER. A VIDEO GAME LAWYER. ITS YOUR BABY!!! FUCKING DO IT
-you should probably add a clause about if the publisher goes down. Reminder also that the video game industry is in shambles right now. Manage your expectations
-you can also self publish. It is a thing you can do. Patreon is here. Kickstarter is here. You have options!!! If you can't get a publisher it's not the end of the world!!!!!!
-I'm just a humble dev and those are my own humble thoughts as someone who got very lucky with their publisher. Armor Games was very good to me during the dev of isat!

Blocking Ads on Mobile Devices
Blocking ads on our phones is way harder than it should be so I figured I'd make some recommendations. These are not the only options out there, just the ones that I know and use.
Please note that browser-level and system-level adblocking are complementary; you'll have the best experience if you use both of them together as they each block different things in different places. If you want a basic idea of how effective your combined adblocking setup is, you can visit this website in your mobile browser.
Lastly, there is some additional advice/info under the readmore if you're curious (EDIT: updated June 2024 to add info about sideloading altered versions of social media apps that don't contain ads on Android and iOS).
Android
Browser-Level
uBlock Origin (for Firefox)
System-Level (works in all apps, not just browsers)
AdGuard
Blokada 5 (completely free version) OR Blokada 6 (has some newer features but they require a subscription)
iPhone/iPad
Browser-Level
AdGuard (Safari extension; free for basic browser-level blocking, requires a subscription for custom filters)
System-Level (works in all apps, not just browsers)
AdGuard (requires subscription for system-level blocking)
AdGuard DNS only (this is free and does not require the AdGuard app, BUT I would only recommend it for advanced users, as you can't easily turn it off like you can with the app. Credit to this Reddit thread for the DNS profile)
Some additional info: browser-level blocking is a browser addon or extension, like you might be used to from a desktop computer. This inspects the HTML code returned by websites and searches for patterns that identify the presence of an ad or other annoyance (popup videos, cookie agreements, etc.). System-level blocking is almost always DNS-based. Basically whenever an app asks your phone's OS to make a connection to a website that is known for serving ads, the system-level blocker replies "sorry, I don't know her 🤷‍♂️💅" and the ad doesn't get downloaded. This works in most places, not just a browser, but be warned that it might make your battery drain a little faster depending on the app/setup.
Each of those types of blocking has strengths and weaknesses. System-level DNS blocking blocks ads in all apps, but companies that own advertising networks AND the websites those ads are served on can combine their services into the same domain to render DNS blocking useless; you can’t block ads served by Facebook/Meta domains without also blocking all of Facebook and Instagram as well because they made sure their ads are served from the same domain as all the user posts you actually want to see. Similarly, browser-level blocking can recognize ads by appearance and content, regardless of what domain they’re served from, so it can block them on Instagram and Facebook. However, it needs to be able to inspect the content being loaded in order to look for ads, and there’s no way to do that in non-browser apps. That’s why using both together will get you the best results.
These limitations do mean that you can’t block ads in the Facebook or Instagram apps, unfortunately, only in the website versions of them visited in your browser. It also means ads served by meta’s/facebook’s ad network in other apps can’t be blocked either (unless you're one of the rare beasts who doesn't use facebook or instagram or threads, in which case feel free to blacklist all Meta/FB domains and watch your ads disappear 😍; I'm jealous and in awe of you lol).
One note: some apps may behave unpredictably when they can't download ads. For example, the Tumblr app has big black spaces where the ads are, and sometimes those spaces collapse as you scroll past them and it messes up scrolling for a few seconds (UPDATE: looks like the scrolling issue may have actually been a Tumblr bug that they have now fixed, at least on iOS). Still way less annoying than getting ads for Draco Malfoy seduction roleplay AI chatbots imo though. And honestly *most* apps handle this fairly gracefully, like a mobile game I play just throws error messages like "ad is not ready" and then continues like normal.
One final note: on Android, you may actually be able to find hacked versions of Meta’s apps that have the ad frameworks removed. In some cases they are a little janky (unsurprisingly, apps don’t always take kindly to having some of their innards ripped out by a third-party), and they are often out of date. BUT in return you get an Instagram app with no ads whatsoever, and some of them even add additional features like buttons for saving IG videos and photos to your phone. However, use these apps at your own risk, as there is functionally no way to validate the code that the third-parties have added or removed from the app. Example altered IG app (I have not vetted this altered app, it's just a popular option): link.
It is technically possible to install altered apps on iOS as well, but Apple makes it much, much harder to do (unless you are jailbroken, which is a whole different ballgame). I'm not going to cover sideloading or jailbreaking here because even I as a very techy person eventually grew tired of messing with it or having to pay for it. If you're interested you can read more about the different ways to do sideloading on iOS here.

Pinned FAQ
How do I request a card?
You can request up to 3 cards for free during openaskbox events! During those, the /ask inbox opens up for a few hours, during which I try to write as many as I can live on twitch and post them on tumblr.
After the event is over and I close that inbox, there are still a BUNCH of leftover requests. This is how I fill the daily content queue, I use those up til it's empty again and then run another openaskbox.
On Sundays at 3pm EST I write all 28 cards due to go up for the week from that pool of leftover asks live on twitch and then queue them to go up after stream
What if I don't wanna wait?
If you'd like to throw a bit of cash around instead of waiting, you can buy via the etsy listing or you can tune in to those^ Saturday livestreams, there's a variety of ways to donate to get cards written for you on the spot
How do I buy the card I've requested?
The etsy listing is available here! Please remember to include in the notes of the purchase which card(s) you want to buy. If you'd like me to bundle together all the cards you've requested over a period of a few years, dm me here on the blog and I can quote you on a cheaper bundle price
Why did you answer all those asks, it messed up my dash?
Sorry about that! So to keep all of that ^ organized, at the end of the month, I answer about 112-140 leftover asks in order to record them to a proper "to-write document"
It helps me keep organized, it allows me to easily search for spelling issues, and it gets a few eyeballs on the request in case someone tries to slip an obscure slur into their request that I'm not cool with writing (it has happened)
Lots of the regulars are used to this dash nonsense, but there are folks who want to avoid it entirely. If you're on mobile I'd just recommend unfollowing for a while, but if you're on desktop, you can blacklist the tag "added to notepad" and go to xkit to tick the "fully hide blocked tags" option so it clears up your dash
Wait I thought requests were closed, why can I still send things?
That's because requests use /ask, but /submit is always open because it's for YOUR calligraphy, pet photos, fanart of man... etc. Requests are NOT open when it's not openaskbox day but feel free to send me cool shit YOU made anytime
Wait you have a twitch, do you do anything other than calligraphy?
I try! my schedule at work (restaurant) varies week to week so I try my best to stream whenever I've got free time to, nothing's really planned out though
What are your regular writing tools and paper?
I mainly just use speedball nibs, specifically the c-series (c-0 through c-4) because they're angled flat nibs that let me do most blackletter hands I write. I have a supply of leonardt thin tips for detailing and illustrating
As for paper, the cards you see on the daily are on plain index cue cards I buy from staples. When commissioned/doing larger pieces, I work with a variety of paper, including a 32 lb xerox paper that has juuuust a perfect amount of lamination that avoids ink feathering, black paper that I bought a hundred sheets of in 2019 and I no longer remember the label, and a BOATLOAD of southworth's ivory parchment paper at both 32 and 64 lb weights.

So the thing is, if people ship characters who are explicitly not into romance (whether aromantic or otherwise), that ultimately doesn't affect me on a level beyond "annoyance" — I can blacklist tags, and blacklist or block people who don't tag it. What I have to ask myself every time I see these things, however, is this:
"Does this reflect how this person feels about romance-averse people in real life? Does this reflect how this person treats romance-averse people in real life?"
Because how someone engages with fiction doesn't have to be a reflection of how they treat real people, obviously — and in this case, I would of course hope that it isn't. But if you know anything about what being aromantic is like, in real life or on the Internet... you'll understand why I'm not optimistic.
Thinking two characters are so cute together that you reject a bunch of their characterization to make it happen is just annoying, not a crime! But the second you make the leap to telling a real human person things like:
"I don't care how much you say you're not interested, because you just won't realize that you and X would make such a cute couple,"
or:
"I don't care how much you say you're not interested, because you're clearly just in denial which the Right Person has to come along and fix,"
or:
"But — but — but not falling in love is just so tragic! I want you to be happy, not sad and lonely your whole life!"
like the rationales that apparently motivate so many people to ship? Then that has crossed the line into harming real people.
I don't actually think that shipping aromantic characters is the primary cause in the cause-effect diagram, when it comes to the correlating the shipping with "likelihood to say these terrible, invalidating, autonomy-undermining things to real people." Precisely, I don't think it's a cause to a meaningful degree when you compare with the opposite direction — I think people who say these things to real aromantics (or anyone else who just isn't interested!), because of what they think about these real people, are in turn more likely to think amatonormative things about fictional characters. I think that there exists a feedback loop to some extent, because fiction can influence people's beliefs to some degree, but it's not symmetric. Real-life amatonormativity causes mass amatonormativity in fandom spaces.
So... at this point, do you see why aromantic people in fandom get a little defensive about aro characters, and about other characters who overlap with aro experiences? You see why we get kind of pissy when people very selectively throw a very specific part of their characterization out the window? You see why we maybe don't want to associate with those people? Why it makes us so uncomfortable?
"Stop shipping romance-repulsed characters," in my opinion, is a understandable outcry from the community that I obviously sympathize with — but it nevertheless conceals the core of the issue, especially from non-aromantics who aren't living with amatonormativity shoved down their throats at all times, and therefore might not be able to read between the lines. At the core, this isn't actually a debate about the morality of shipping in fiction, despite overlap with that discourse on the surface.
The real cry for change isn't "stop shipping that character." It's "start accepting me for who I am, without trying to either undermine or mourn it at every opportunity." Because at the moment, the overlap between people who erase fictional aromanticism and real aromanticism is significant — and even where they don't overlap, you know what? Romance-averse folks just trying to live in peace can't fucking tell the difference.

The Rogue and Gambit Project : Introduction
Tumblr media
This has something I've been wanting to do for a long, long time, and now that X-Men 97 has really lit up the fandom again, I figure it's a great time to do it.
What is the project?
I want to look at Rogue and Gambit's relationship throughout their entire thirty year comic book history. I'm mainly sticking with the 616/Main Canon Universe, but who knows, maybe I'll branch out a little. I do want to revisit XM97 and dig in there a little bit, too.
For the most part, I'll be going through chronologically - starting in the 90s and working my way through the comics as they were first written. And do what I do - read the stories and discuss them. :)
Why do this? Because I'm partially insane - but mostly because I've loved these characters for a long, long time and I really want to dig in and talk about their story.
Tags I'm using so you can follow along or blacklist: the rg project; marvel meta
Some resources! Comics are a pain in the butt to follow, so here are some tools I use that help me keep everything straight:
Uncannyxmen.net : These guys have been around since at least the 90s and have very comprehensive summaries of everything X-Men related. They also have incredibly useful articles such as character studies, family trees, and all sorts of info. They also have a way to look up everything chronologically! I've been using them for years.
All Rogue Appearances : This has been a helpful tool in finding every comic Rogue has appeared in. They put it in their own reading order - I do kind of wish it was straight up chronological, but still incredibly useful as a tool.
All Gambit Appearances : Same thing as above except for Gambit
Rogue and Gambit Reading Guide : In case you're only here for the Romy and want to dig right in!
Jay and Miles X-Plain the X-Men : A podcast I've been listening to for about ten years now. They've been going through the entire 616 canon with a fine tooth comb and are about at the late-90s. They also have interviews with creators
Bon Temps! : A Rogue and Gambit Podcast! I've just started listening to them - and they're really a fun group who loves both characters well and equally!
Okay, time to dig into some comics - my god, I hope I survive the experience. ;)

Just curious if there will be an adult version of the Novella November community made? Or what do you mean by no NSFW?
There will be just the single community run on a trial basis, no adult versions, and by "No NSFW" I mean.....no posting things that are *Not Safe For Work* within the Community.
Not Safe For Work means,
"If I was in the breakroom at work scrolling Tumblr, or let someone borrow my phone and the community was open, and a coworker, my boss, or a customer saw my tumblr dash, would I get in trouble/weird looks for having something on display not appropriate?"
so, to break it down, no NSFW content means:
No Nudity/suggestive photos/drawings/illustrations
No written sex scenes
no posting gore photos/drawings/illustrations
etc.
There's no age limitations on this community event, and I'm pretty sure Tumblr's rules have kids as young as 13 on here, so "no NSFW" is a basic rule to make sure the Tumblr Community feature itself is something everyone is safe to interact with.
You are free to post NSFW posts in the actual tags for Novella November, just, obviously, you need to tag it with "NSFW" so people (like me!) can filter them or choose to view them with a click on a case by case basis, instead of them just being fully visible and sudden on my dash. (2014 Tumblr was a horrible time to be unable to blacklist tags.)
I think we've all seen the porn bots which are starting to take over and spam popular tags again, which is a great example of why people want to be able to filter NSFW content.
NSFW means Not Safe For Work -- if you wouldn't be comfortable with your parent, friends, or coworkers seeing it on your phone, it probably needs the NSFW tag, and in this case, shouldn't be posted in the Tumblr Community feature for Novella November, but you are free to use the tags #Novella November and #NovellaNovember for all your usual posting
EDIT for clarity:
From replies:
Horror is perfectly fine to post in the community, as long as you're not posting really graphic images out on there own, and as long as general content warning tags are used for people with specific triggers or phobias to filter it, like #body horror, #eye horror, etc.
If someone asks you to add a trigger tag to an existing post please do so to help keep the community a safe and friendly space for all;
some other common trigger tags are:
#Flashing (for any videos/gifs that involve flashing lights)
#Insects (a general tag for all bugs and similar creepy-crawlies)
#Spiders (for anyone with arachnophobia)
etc.
From my second reblog: I remembered this is Tumblr so, for those worries, no, Queer content is *not* automatically NSFW, no matter what certain ceos would have you believe. 🏳️‍🌈✨

Tag your motherfvcking fics properly!!
Tumblr media
Last time I discussed this topic (see this post) we were still living the P4nd3mic. But it seems years go by and some people just refuse to do things right. I am talking about fanfiction.
Are there any gay women out there looking for MirAndy fics in your leisure time to relax after a stressful day thinking, 'I'm gonna read just any fics that are posted out there?' Then, my friends, I've got news for you:
Tumblr media
How hard is it to mention the stuff that some people don't want to find in fanfics to avoid making people angry because you chose to hide important details instead? Why are some of you so selfish or lack self-awareness? Not everybody likes the same things. And when it comes to lesbian fics, this is so fvcking upsetting, and it happens a lot.
If I am looking for MirAndy fics, the ONE THING I don't want in the story is them being involved with men, periodt.
Tumblr media
Imagine my surprise when I decided to give new fics a chance, after months of rereading the same stories (because I know which authors I can trust and I am familiar with the top quality fiction they write) and I find myself reading a fic tagged as F/F that only mentions MirAndy, only to find that Miranda is dating A MAN and another dude tries to assault her?? GO TO HELL, BITCH!!
Tumblr media
Are you some kind of masochist? I don't know if you enjoy writing bullshit, why the fuck do you have to force MEN into lesbian stories?! If you're adding those pieces of shit, SAY SO IN THE FVCKING TAGS or at least IN THE SUMMARY.
Lesbians DON'T WANT MEN involved with our wlw ships (unless it's friendship, of course. Nigel, you're good to go, have a cookie, sweetheart)
Tumblr media
There's enough lesbophobia in this fucking society we're living in: we come to AO3 for comfort and you give us hetero shit.
Tumblr media
So in case you're finding yourself in the same situation, I'm gonna tell you a trick to blacklist authors who pull off this sh*t:
Go to the filter options and write a dash followed by the name of that stvpid fvcker and then a comma. You can do this with several authors and then click on Sort and Filter. Save it as a bookmark in your browser so you don't have to do this every time you access AO3:
Tumblr media
I hope this is helpful since some people are savages on AO3 and we have to curate the archive ourselves to save ourselves disgust, as well as wasting time and energy and feeling a LOT OF DISAPPOINTMENT.

honestly my case for aro/ace Jiang Cheng stems heavily from his list of traits he'd want in a future wife.
like putting aside the fact that his "pickiness" got him canonically blacklisted from a majority of their world's matchmakers, we have this:
naturally beautiful
graceful and obedient
hard-working and thrifty
coming from a respected family
cultivation level not too high
These are all just Standard Things That Ancient Chinese Society Says It's Good For Women To Be.
A woman who is too strong will surpass her husband which is a huge no-no in their society. Too weak and she's a disappointment (read: Jiang Yanli). Marrying within or above your own social class is just expected common sense, especially if you're born upper class.
Then you have these next three points:
personality not too strong
not too talkative
voice not too loud
Of course these are also generic Standard Things That Ancient Chinese Society Says It's Good For Women To Be, but they also stood out to me more than the previous points because all of them remind me of Yu Ziyuan.
Jiang Cheng is very similar to her, and of course even without that he still cares about her. But she was very difficult to please and nurtured his inferiority complex for years. Growing up with her volatility hurt everyone in that house.
AND THEN TACKED ON AT THE VERY END OF THE LIST:
must treat Jin Ling nicely.
So almost all of these bullet points are generic, intangible societal ideals. Rather than being actual preferences for a marriage or to fall in love with, his list reads to me more like this:
Things Everyone Says It's Good For A Wife To Be IDFK
Actually Now That I Think About It Don't Be Like My Mom.
BE NICE TO MY NEPHEW.
Even the 'must treat Jin Ling nicely' can be tied back to Yu Ziyuan if you choose to view it a certain way. A new wife might dislike Jin Ling since he was already there prior to her marriage to Jiang Cheng, even if he's a blood relative rather than a good friend's orphaned child.
An official wife could easily get angry or misguidedly jealous. She could distance or mistreat Jin Ling, an elder male child born to people who are now dead. Who does that remind you of...?
Really all this list proves is Jiang Cheng really, really cares about his nephew + Wei Wuxian and wants the child to be raised with sincere kindness and love. Everything else is just like a dart thrown at a dartboard blind. Sure, write that down. People say it's good for women to be like X and say Y and do Z, right? Sure. Okay.
TL;DR - It's easy to view Jiang Cheng as actually being that arrogant and holding people to every single standard in his list, but IMO he just can't think of traits he actually finds attractive in a person beyond Be Ideal, I Guess. Which is painfully relatable and a primary reason why I see him as aro/ace.

There have been quite a bit of "guilt trippy" and "forceful" posts recently about how you must reblog everything you give a Like, how reblogging is like the lifeblood of this site, and so forth. And yeah, it's true, reblogging is very helpful for everyone involved, especially on Tumblr.
But I want to reassure others (and myself too!) who fret about these (at times) pressing and aggressive-sounding posts. You don't have to reblog if you don't want your blog to be filled with them. Your blog may have a theme/specific subject like it being an art, ask, or roleplay blog. It's fine to not want to clutter your blog(s) with things unrelated to your blog's theme.
The upside of Tumblr is that you can have side blogs and you can dedicate one of them to reblogs only. You can name it whatever you want if you don't want others to quickly find it, in case the stuff you enjoy is on a more personal level you aren't willing to publicly share. I have one too because I'm one of the people who likes to stay on theme with their blogs. It's a bit of a hassle to reblog posts to a side blog if you aren't used to it yet, but you'll get it in time. Just make sure you have an avatar and banner on this side blog, and maybe a short bio/description, to show you aren't a bot. That helps with not getting your side blog blocked.
The thoughts of "I don't want to reblog-spam someone's notifications" or "I don't want to flood my mutuals and followers' feeds with many reblogs" are valid, but still ones you should try and put aside. It's not up to you to curate other people's online experiences; it's their own. If someone doesn't want their posts to be reblogged, they can opt out of that. If a follower/mutual doesn't want to see certain reblogs, they can use Xkit (Rewritten) or whatever tools to hide or blacklist them. You reblog what makes you happy or like to share, and if you're more comfortable doing so from a side blog, then please do. While tags in reblogs are appreciated, they aren't a must so don't feel pressured about that either.
While I know all this is supposed to be common knowledge, I just wanted to make this post in case some of my followers are nervous about the whole reblog subject, or are still learning about how Tumblr works. You've got this!

mental illness/neurodiversity hcs (eg, you could request something like "I HC [insert chr] from [insert source] as having adhd and autism" or "I HC [insert chr] as having BPD")
proship hcs (if you are submitting this kind of hc I will also make you a pfp with the requested character and the flags for the identity you HC them with upon request) (eg, "I HC [insert chr] from [insert source] as being a proshipper")
agere/caregivers hcs (if you are submitting this kind of hc I will also make you a pfp with the requested character and the flags for the identity you HC them with upon request) (eg, "I HC [insert chr] from [insert source] as being an age regressor and [insert chr] as being their caregiver, may I please pfps for this request?")
... and probably more that I'm forgetting! If you're unsure, feel free to ask and I will let you know if I'm comfortable with doing your request! This blog is meant to celebrate headcanons and fandom diversity, fun in fandom, ect, but I still have the right to refuse any request for any reason.
On that note! I have no blacklist for fandoms, but I will not do RPF, or anything live action (as talked about in my Umbrella Academy post) for my own personal comfort. MCYT content will be posted on a case by case basis (as talked about here).
I also have no strict DNI, but I will block people I don't like. As for myself, you can call me mod nanashi or mod no name, whichever you prefer. I use he/they/it pronouns. For personal reasons I will not be sharing my main blog at this time, but that may change in the future!
I am proship, pro-para (anti-contact), supportive of mspec lesbians/gays and lesboys/turigirls, supportive of age regressors, and supportive of fictionkins/otherkins. I am neutral on syscourse as I am a singlet and I don't feel that it's my place. If you have any other questions about my stances on things, feel free to ask, but I figured this would cover most of the bases. If any of my stances make you uncomfortable, the block button is free.
Tag list:
#mod nanashi / #mod no name - posts by mod nanashi/no name
Some of my fav proship blogs:
@proship-paci @proshippersstimming @black-salt-cage @proselfshipsafespace @proshipcallblog @corpsey-moodboards @proshippingcenter @secretspiritmoodboards (if you guys could reblog this so I could get my blog out there that would be greatly appreciated, no pressure though!)
If this post has left any of your questions unanswered, feel free to ask and I will answer to the best of my abilities!

What would croco and doffy do if you wanted to leave your job?
post referenced
tw. workplace harassment, mentions of mental illness, manipulation, yandere vibes, gn reader, minors dni
That's the thing in this scenario: They know damn well that you won't up and leave until something truly grave happens. That's how it is with depression/anxiety disorders (at least for me) - you won't change a single thing even if you fantasize about beating your forehead bloody on the work bathroom's sink every morning on your commute. It's all about slowly pushing your boundaries, even a fucking flashy bird like Doflamingo gets that. You're the frog in the pot and the heat is slowly increasing, you won't even notice just how bad things are turning until you're already gagging on Doflamingo's cock or being called 'sweetheart' by Crocodile. But early on, the other option - getting a new job, maybe quitting without another place lined up (because you see... it's hard to send out applications with the way they're working you to the bone... or at least that's what your tired brain tells you) - that is way more daunting than simply spending another week in that familiar hell, maybe even another month. You tell yourself that you'll brush up your CV during your week off - and then waste that week simply counting the days until you have to go back again, constantly torn between fretting and sleeping. Others would call you lazy and stupid, but it's how your unmedicated brain works; and they both know it, could smell it on you the moment you shuffled your starched shirt into that interview way back when.
Tumblr media
Now, if Doflamingo played his cards wrong - and he forced you under the table too early, or if Crocodile laid into you with gusto and too much anger one day - yep, you'd leave. But both know that good things come to boys who wait; and in this case it's a malleable mess of a person, perfect to mold into whatever shape they desire. For Doflamingo, it's some simple psychological torture lunchtime fun, for Crocodile it's someone he can boss around for the rest of his life, a guaranteed little doll who'll only ever aim to please him. But that wasn't your question, was it? Let's say you have friends, maybe family who help you, who encourage you to leave and support you with everything you could ask for - that get you to finally put in your resignation. Oh. Oh. There will be hell to pay. You see, you don't ditch a man like Doflamingo just like that. He'll be furious, that carefully created, perfectly maintained facade of the cruel, calculated yet sunny big shot cracking to reveal the spoiled little boy he can be deep, deep down. He decides when you're done playing, not your sorry little ass who can't even raise your voice to tell the waitress she's brought you the wrong meal at the cheap fucking diner you eat in on Sundays. You don't get to have agency, you don't get to walk before he is done wiping the floor with you and laughing all the while. He'll give you acid, the wildest tongue lashing you've ever had in your life - and he'll make sure to get your name blacklisted, to have you crawling back into whatever shithole you came from or moving away entirely. He wants you ruined, he wants you desperate, he wants your name so encrusted in shit you'd have to get new skin to rid yourself of the stench. Only if you come back to him, tail shaking in between your mangy legs, then he'd consider forgiving you for ever having the gall to think that you're somehow on the same playing field, on the same level as him. And if you don't do just that because of your pathetic little support system - well, you better hope you never cross his path ever again. Crocodile won't be any less furious, his anger just takes on another form. You see, while his ego won't be as bruised by you putting in your two weeks - the stakes were higher for him. He wanted to keep you around, after all. And now you're slipping through his fingers, take your sad, wet eyes to another one who'll get to exploit them and play you for the perfect fool that you are. Oh, that won't do. Instead, he'll stun you with a counter offer: more money, less hours, hell, he'll give you a shitty gift card for some grocery store once a month; anything to keep you around. He'll break out into an entirely new direction, chooses to play the grumbly yet lovable boss all of a sudden. It's jarring. And it probably works because it's so bizarre. (Of course, he's still himself - he just figures he'll catch more flies with honey instead of vinegar and he can play pretend for a little while, can hide that arrogance and temper because he has a plan. In true Crocodile fashion, he'll be nice and let you off the hook for a little bit, letting you weigh yourself in a false sense of security.) He knows you were ready to leave once - now he has to step it up a notch before you'll truly pull the plug. And isn't a little office party where he'll feed you some spiked drinks and has you waking up in his bed the perfect move, then? A little bit of love-bombing, then putting a little bit of that pressure that made you crack before back on - it'll have your messed up little head spinning, feeling cornered and like a fish out of the water. It won't be his preferred way of doing things, sure, but he can't let you leave. It'll be so out of character, will blind you like a flash granade until you're suddenly stuck in that same old rut, only this time with a ring around your finger and your former boss in your bed.

They b calling Sol Badguy a lesbian again. I gotta point aggressively at like Millia. I-No. The curios and such. You’re familiar
I feel like I'm starting to be an obnoxious asshole about the lesbian Sol Badguy thing so I'm going to explain why I don't care for it in greater depth than I have elsewhere so far and then put something brief about it in my pinned. Not exactly a "DNI" because, ultimately, I think those do more harm to the person sharing it than it does to help them (it's an itemized list of things guaranteed to upset the author), but more of a "I'm very tired, please don't" list.
After I post this, I'm done talking about butch/lesbian Sol Badguy.
My elaboration on this might come across as a little mean so if you're a lesbian Sol enjoyer and don't want to read all that, my feelings can be briefly summarized with: I don't like it and people keep making me see it in places blacklists don't work in.
In essence, I don't really care what people headcanon characters as because, in the end, it's just harmless fun. But the reason I don't care is because I generally have control (via blacklisting, unfollowing, etc) over what I do and don't see. I don't like this headcanon for Sol and people keep making me see it; I can't blacklist what shows up in tags or reblog comments in my notifications tab and it feels really mean blocking every single person that does it.
The lesbian/butch Sol thing came from an innocent one-off kinda jokey comment over on Twitter and people ran with it like it was the best thing ever. I think it's annoying, and I just don't like it. That's the surface level basics of my feelings about this.
The deeper part is that fandoms will pick a cis male character to put femme or lesbian identities/labels on over one of the cis female characters—or even one of the canon trans women, if the IP has it, and GG does have a canon trans woman—in almost every case. I have yet to see as many people call any of the women of Guilty Gear butch or lesbian with the same energy people have for Sol.
There are characters in Guilty Gear that would take far less effort and would have so much more to explore with a butch/lesbian identity than Sol does. There are already characters with very, very, solid evidence suggesting they're lesbian or bisexual women. I-No, Millia, and Elphelt are just 3 of them. Arguments could be made for Baiken, Giovanna, May, Bridget, and Jam too. Personality-wise, Baiken or I-No would probably be the closest to Sol if Sol's pricky-outside-but-softer-inside dynamic is appealing.
Jack-O' is also kind of a blank slate in regards to her interests post-Strive. She's resolved her difficulties with being a vessel for Aria and is now open and excited to explore what the world has to offer her and what things in it she might come to love. If one of the pillars of the lesbian Sol headcanon is his relationship with Jack-O', I don't think it would be hard at all shipping Jack-O' with one of the women with the same level of intimacy she's capable of with Sol.
Her and Sol aren't married, you wouldn't have to divorce them to make it work like a post-Overture era relationship with Ky or Dizzy. Maybe Sol is too clingy and it's suffocating to Jack-O' so they separated, or maybe Sol expected Jack-O' to perfectly fill the void Aria had left (maybe he even eventually slips and calls her Aria?) and it just ended up being too weird so he was the one to break it off. There are even a few points throughout Xrd and Strive where Sol straight up just was not very nice to her and maybe she's thought on it and it bothers her. You could even just say (or not say why at all) that they split with no bad feelings and they're just platonic friends now. There is a lot to work with here.
To summarize: I think this headcanon is very surface level, a disservice to Guilty Gear's female cast, and that it would be more interesting and more fun for people if they explored these dynamics with one of the women instead of doing it with one of the men.
Don't let this post and my feelings on lesbian Sol stop you from enjoying it if it is fun for you and brings any sort of fulfillment, but know that I just don't like it and I don't want to have to keep seeing it. I have blacklists and things set up to not see it when I go into tags, this is almost purely localized in my notifications tab. Don't stop posting it in tags or sharing it just because of me. However, I will see it if you tag it or comment it on an original post I made or a post reblogged directly from my blog.
Thank you for reading. Sorry for being kind of a bummer about this headcanon.

non con means non consensual
no consent = rape
can you explain why you don’t think writing rape is an issue and that it shouldn’t go unreported? i’m curious
please be kind i’m genuinely curious as to why people think it’s ok to write about
This has been explained multiple times and— not to be rude, but you can easily do your own research. It's tiring explaining this over and over, but here we go again.
TW: talks of SA and rape.
If you think it's an issue, Tumblr and media gives you the options to blacklist words, tags, and even usernames, in case blocking is somehow not an option.
There are things called dark fics, which include topics such as dubcon, rape, and other things. The fact that an author writes about these topics doesn't mean you should report their content or account, it's actually very easy to avoid, and you're responsible for your own triggers and media consumption. Every single author who writes dark fics and I've seen in the COD fandom writes the trigger/content warnings at the beginning of their fics because we understand it's not for everyone.
I've explained this before, but as someone who used to get molested/SAd since middle school and until my late teens, writing about these scenarios helps me cope. Why? Because I get to have control over what I write and situations similar to everything that happened to me, and I get to pick which character is doing that, rather than all the people who did things to me.
Some rape and SA victims develop kinks related to it, and that's totally okay. The fact that we write things about it does NOT mean in any way, shape or form that we want this to happen to our readers or ourselves, it's simply a kink that oftentimes comes from being a victim ourselves. It's all a fantasy, a controlled environment where we can write these things and have control over it, unlike in our real lives.
You may not agree with these things being written and that's where the fact that you can easily avoid them comes into play. It's truly as easy as dismissing a post, blacklisting words/tags, and blocking the creator. Trust me, no creator will ever care that you block them. I have so many people blocked in here, including some of my mutual's mutuals or followers and that has never been an issue.
Dark fics are not for everyone and that's totally okay, but reporting a creator's account for writing a sexual fantasy with fictional characters is something way too extreme. We're not posting rape videos, we're simply writing things with fictional characters. If you're (in general, not only you) not mature enough to understand why dark media is created, you're likely not old enough to be in our blogs in the first place.
I hope that explained it well and pray that this will finally be the last ask I get about it.

I am SO sorry about that other anon good lord, who do they think they are??? You're a human being with feelings and emotions and hardships!! Or a shark I guess in your case, but my point still stands.
I, too, have been a long-time fan of your comic. CoB is my favorite webcomic and I've been loyally following and reading the updates since... end of s1?? It's been a while. BUT despite that, I know that you're still a person at the end of the day, and that sometimes you just need to get shit off your chest. It's far healthier to vent and get things off your chest than it is to bottle it up.
I haven't paid attention because I'm following like 500 different tumblrs, but may I suggest tagging your rants? That way, if people don't want to see it, they can just blacklist the tag, and you can keep getting things off your chest.
>>> Also just a reminder to everyone that YOU CURATE YOUR OWN ONLINE EXPERIENCES. The tag blocker and unfollow button is there for a reason. If you don't like what someone posts, either block the tag or just unfollow them. It's not that hard.
Sorry to that anon in that I didn’t mean to send any hate their way. I appreciate what you’re saying but I understand their point. I made this as a space for fans and I shouldn’t be using it for personal baggage. I’m just going to try to avoid using it like that from now on, so hopefully a tag won’t be necessary but I’ll make sure to do so if I do fall in that hole again. I hopefully just find a better outlet, but I just always appreciate being heard here, even if only by a few people. Even just a like on one of my posts tells me someone heard me and sometimes that’s just all I need. This was just kinda the only place I can get that since Twitter and IG would attract too much attention, and well, my private accounts… just feel like screaming into a void that just echos everything back and confirms everything I’m venting about. I’m gonna try to avoid venting here from now on and do my best to just keep it a positive fan space, but I appreciate all the support up til now whenever I’ve been having a bad night
