Hi! As someone that got intrestered in F1 3 months ago, I am curious what the deal is between Lando and Charles? Why would you say that he hates him lol

Lando and Charles are like those two people who have exactly the same mutual friends and try and force a friendship for the sake of those friends but at the end of the day they just don't really get along at all.....

The long and (mostly) short of it all is that they were close in lockdown along with George and Alex, although even then it was a bit weird because George and Alex were Charles' friends first (the three of them have a gc together that dates back about a decade), but Lando/George/Alex had been pushed together a lot the previous year in 2019 since they were all young and marketable rookies. That just creates a weird dynamic as is. I can't speak on 2020-2023 but in 2024 there was a whole weird thing with the way Lando and Charles' contracts were each announced, in which Charles announced his and then Lando announced his literally the day after but whereas Charles' was planned Lando's seemed rushed. In hindsight it could've been due to the Lewis to Ferrari news somehow starting to leak (this was all a week before) but there was also a couple of weird media back and forths in which Lando said he wouldn't want to go to Red Bull because he doesn't want to match up against a prime Max, and then Charles says pretty soon later that he would 100% match up against Max, and all in all it's a little "was that a jab or???" coming from all sides re: their media quotes. I'm definitely forgetting some but that's the gist of it.

All in all as well I think they both generally see each other as a potential threat to each other's 'brands' so to speak. They both want to be the young blazing talent in F1 who will match up to and eventually overthrow the Max Verstappen dominance. They both also have similar niches of fans, that is the traditional die-hard fans of their respective teams and this massive young audience which exists primarily online. They ultimately are quite different people and see each other as a threat. Maybe they should work it out on the remix.

Re: why I was saying something was off in the first place, Lando in the latest GTG referred to Charles by his surname which he only did for drivers he isn't close to.

Hi! I saw a post where you mentioned intersex Jesus being a part of medieval European alchemy and I'd love to learn more about that. Could you elaborate or maybe provide links to some articles? I know some saint mystics talked about Jesus being our Mother, and the holy wound in His side was often likened to a birth canal, especially in medieval times. Is it connected to that in any way?

I'd love to elaborate! (This is going to be a long post so buckle up lol)

I will be using the word "hermaphrodite" instead of "intersex" because that is the word that primary sources from medieval Europe and contemporary medieval scholars use when talking about this subject

The best scholarly article I've found is "The Jesus Hermaphrodite: Science and Sex Difference in Premodern Europe" by Leah DeVun. It talks about how the image of the hermaphrodite was used in a metaphorical way by alchemists to show the combining/transforming of two different metals. They believed that certain metals/elements were gendered, so combining male and female "traits" would make something of a completely new sex; similar to the way they perceived hermaphrodites as both but also neither sex.

The article then goes on to talk about two medieval texts: Aurora consurgens and the Book of the Holy Trinity. Aurora consurgens is an alchemic text and has the image below in it. The hermaphrodite is holding a rabbit and bat, both of which were thought to be hermaphroditic species where both males and females gave birth, to emphasize their dual sexuality as well as the conflicting male and female attributes of alchemy.

The Book of the Holy Trinity transitioned from the traditional alchemic hermaphrodite, like seen above, into the religious sphere by arguing that Jesus and Mary were two sides of the same coin. The author of the text says, "one can never see the mother of God without also seeing that God eternally hides and intermingles [his mother] within him. God was and is eternally his own mother and his own father, human and divine, his divinity and his humanity intermingled within. And he depends on that which he wishes to be hidden most of all within himself, the divine and the human, the feminine and the masculine." This makes Jesus/Mary a hermaphrodite.

As a bit of a fun side note to your ask, the author of the Book of the Holy Trinity gives a few more supporting points to his argument and then turns to say that as Christ contains Mary, He also contains the Antichrist which the Book illustrates like this:

The idea of the hermaphrodite Christ really took off after that and boosted the cult of Saint Wilgefortis, saint of monsters. Images of the hermaphrodite Wilgefortis were often indistinguishable from images of Christ because they were both depicted on a cross but where they both have beards, Wilgefortis only has one shoe on: a playful medieval illusion to female sex organs. Images of Saint Wilgefortis below (some images from the 1800s, some from the 1400s). You can read more about Wilegfortis in Bearded Woman, Female Christ: Gendered Transformations in the Legends and Cult of Saint Wilgefortis by Lewis Wallace.

About a hundred years later, “The Lamentation around the remains of Christ,” below, was made depicting Jesus with breasts and feminine curves. Not much is known about it and Christ's hermaphroditic traits weren't even discovered until it was restored in the 21st century. Because of how recent this discovery is, not much scholarly work has been published on it, but I did find this: "The androgyny of Christ" by H. Valdes‑Socin. It is now at the Museum of Notre-Dame à la Rose Hospital in Lessines, Belgium.

And you're absolutely right about Christ's stab wound being like a birth canal! I think the article Mysticism and queer readings of Christ’s Side Wound in the Prayer Book of Bonne of Luxembourg by  Dr. Maeve K. Doyle does a good job of explaining it. Dr. Doyle says, "The image of the side wound, ... grants feminine bodily attributes to Christ, destabilizing assumptions about his gender. In mystical images and texts, Christ’s capacity to transcend the gender binary, like his capacity to transcend the binary of life and death, underscores his divinity." Dr. Doyle then goes on to talk about how images of the stab wound looking like a birth canal would also be comforting to medieval women, trans people, and homosexuals on both sides. Now I'm not Christian but I think it's really amazing that such a simple image can elicited so much comfort and joy in so many groups of people who were not able to fully be themselves in the era they lived in. It was a reminder that even Christ was like them, their feelings were valid (to an extent), and that Jesus loved them anyway. Medieval Jesus stab wounds below for people interested.

ok so I must come back with more driver!reader thoughts especially with how they can work at red bull. maybe bc I’m a massive sports person and have read many either “x player has always been a girl”/gender swap fics or what but I kinda love the idea of driver!reader being someone who is absolutely talented, but gets to f1 bc she has family there/the timing works right and while she’s talented, she thrives in a team environment. She can absolutely and does win and set records, but her focus beyond being the best driver she can be is getting more opportunities for women who can drive lights out but lack the connections to make it to f1. I hope that makes sense but something like that to me, someone who wants a WDC but maybe can see that she’s gonna need a shit ton of luck or drive absolute lights out for herself to get it but can get the team the constructors and get a nice number of wins under her belt. She believes in herself for sure, but knows the WDC might not be in the cards for her

this might be TOTALLY delusional of me, but in my little fantasy world she definitely gets a wdc at some point. in the same way i think lando, george, oscar (and a few other drivers) are definitely capable of getting a wdc. i don’t see her becoming a several time wdc champ, twice at the most— but yeah in my head she’s capable of that in the right car. BUT also i don’t she could do it in a redbull? thats another discussion though. i see her definitely staying in f1 for a long time. she amasses a bunch of loyal sponsors and even if her performance takes a bit of a dip she hangs on at midfield teams who need a bit of a mentor and want someone consistent.

but absolutely the moment she stops performing up at the top of the grid and when those top teams don’t really seek her out as much, she’d very much shift into the role of championing diversity and going out on a limb to get drivers that aren’t straight white men into the sport. there’s only so much she can do when she’s young and i think she relies on lewis/mercedes initiatives in the beginning of her career if that makes sense? she feels its her role to speak out but she’s not got the resources/influence to really muscle these more diverse drivers in.

but later, when she does, that’s her main goal.

tbh i think she’s selfish. i think she’s a feminist to her core. but i think the driving comes first? does that make sense. maybe its morally bankrupt but i think she’d ignore things to a certain extent just to keep herself in a situation that is favourable to her. i don’t mean she’d put up with something awful i just think she’s letting microaggressions and unfavourable treatment slide. eventually she learns better. but in her early career she’ll do whatever she can to get the wins.

the first thing to clear up is the idea that to be best friends you have to like the same things or be similar people which I personally (jokingly) take huge offense about. my entire tightest friend group consists of none of us agreeing on ANYTHING. if anything liking someone just because you're similar means you've got less of a friendship than people who love each other regardless of what you perceive as terrible takes on things. obv I'm talking about frivolous shit and not like human rights etc.

but also reminder: Lando doesn't have besties in F1. not one. the whole car|ando encroaching on his own brand that he's worked extremely hard for all on his own is definitely wearing thin on him and it's clearly why he was a bit iffy doing the whole let's do a really obvious bromance schtick with Daniel sometimes. so he's making it very clear that there are some guys he spends down time with in F1… and then there are his real private life non-professional friends. but professionally as a driver, Lando is Lando. he's not one half of anything and he's not another driver's creation or admirer. he is F1 driver Lando Norris, then a McLaren driver, then a teammate, and wayyyy down below that are the guys on the grid he hangs with sometimes (Carlos, Daniel, Max, Charles, Yuki, sometimes Lewis).

so in terms of if Oscar and Lando are good friends I think it would be hard to class anyone on the grid as Lando's "good friend" and not just a friend. Ga|ex is really the only F1 pairing I'd refer to as good friends and not just guys who seek each other out to chat during down time, but who actually cross over into the winter break as well. I don't follow the whole grid super closely but I can definitely say Lando doesn't have anything to do with guys like Carlos and Daniel if it's not to fill time during racing weekends. Lando is a businessman and a lot of us forget that because he's so open and often relatable but this dude is a CEO, a content creator and a top F1 driver - his life is FULL. his real closest friendships are happening off the clock and the most we see of those friendships are caught on his streams and sometimes his videos just with Max.

honestly part of what a lot of us really like about the landoscar friendship is that they've gone completely against the grain of the usual bromance/PR thing that new teammates do and they're just being themselves. Lando cannot hide a single thing on his face and his mouth isn't much better at it so the fact that he is always smiling and happy around Oscar is as genuine proof as you can get that he likes Oscar. even despite (or maybe partly because of?) Oscar being so quiet and calm and unlike the other drivers on the current grid. and the fact that Lando has gone through the entire LN4 Spectrum of Different Moods and Emotions around Oscar and Oscar just seems to want to study Lando like a bug he is particularly fond of is also genuine since that boy wouldn't perform for the cameras without a gun to his head.

but tbh anon more important than that is that Lando is no longer the rookie playing second fiddle to a seasoned driver and he isn't the baby brother to a PR darling, he's Mr. McLaren and he's got his own rookie who looks up to him. which is about damn time for someone who's been in F1 for 5 years. AND they've already had a fiercely competitive first season together where they've both responded with respect and maturity to people desperate to stir things up between them. if that doesn't result in them playing gay for the cameras or having shared hobbies then I can't really say I care.

and while I absolutely think we should all enjoy any rpf we want in the privacy of tumblr's lack of an algorithm or popular appeal, publicly I kiiiiind of feel like it's time for Lando to no longer be defined by bromances or have to answer about them. I'd even lean a bit into saying maybe he's done with that as well. so landoscar not having the usual bromancey corporate engagement hashtag appeal feels pretty comfortable.

There’s always something about the way the atmosphere changes as soon as you know something bad is about to happen.

You thought that hunting by your lonesome was the best thing for you, you were always silent and no one could tell you what to do. You were so independent and emotionless, it made hunts far too easy. Of course, this would make you an easy target.

Reece, who had just joined your group 5 months back, lights a cigarette as soon as he steps out of the car. Nightfall had reached it’s peak and the end of his cigarette lit up a small area, quickly flicking ash onto the floor. He breathes in the toxicity, and breathes out. “I don’t know how you even manage that shit, man.” Luna scoffs, “It’s disgusting.” She looks over to you, and you keep your head down. “Listen, man,” He starts. “I need to relax before we even start this mission. It’s Y/Ns fault why we’re here in the first place.” He flicks his arm at you, darting his eyes at you. Luna furrows her eyebrows quickly before stepping back next to you, her raven hair shining against the moonlight.

Luna is one of the first people that you felt like you could be yourself with. After solving the same case at the same time, separately, you both became close, good friends. You had both similar interests in music, TV shows, even fashion. A lot of people had thought you were sisters rather than friends at first glance.

“N-no, it’s not. My mom could still be in there…” You trail off, feeling completely idiotic even mentioning that your mother had been missing. Reece snorts, flicking more ash from his cigarette before crushing it into the mud. “All you ever do is cry about your fucking mother,” Reece stands up straight after leaning against your car. You suddenly felt a hand caress your back and a figure steps up to Reece. “If this is the only chance we have of finding Y/Ns mom, then we should do it.” Lewis spoke up. His dirty blond hair covered his forehead and his brown eyes shone against the dim headlights. Lewis is the only one who would step up to Reece, despite his tough exterior, he is one of the most genuine guys you ever had the chance of meeting.

Lewis was paired with Luna, but as she was doing the same case as you, he was out of town doing his own case, too. You had only met him about a month after becoming friends with Luna, which turned a pair into a triple.

“When do you have a say? Huh?” Reece bickered, a smile curving his lips. “I’m only here for the entertainment. I’m not here for Y/N.” You grind your teeth in frustration, you could never understand why he was even with you guys in the first place, maybe it was because he was too afraid to be on his own? No one else to put up with him? Both statements may be correct. You feel the need to punch this guy in the fucking balls and it takes a lot of effort not to do so. You feel Lunas’ hand wrap around yours and she squeezes it to comfort you. “Come in with us, or don’t. But we’re going in.” Lewis says, ushering both of you to follow him. He rounds to the back of the car, opening the boot. Revealing all of the weapons and stock you have stacked in there. Lewis hands you a small handgun, and a silver axe. You refill your gun with the correct bullets and accidentally catch eye contact with Reece. Your breathing freezes as you look back down, pretending it never happened.

“Okay, are we ready to go?” Luna asks, shutting the boot of your car. “Don’t forget to lock your doors.” She says, giving you a quick smile. You shoot her one back and twist the key in the drivers side, locking your car. “Are you coming?” You ask Reece quietly, and his cold stare latches onto you. You raise your eyebrows and assume he’s coming with you, so you quickly make your way back with Lewis and Luna.

As you enter the warehouse, its eery and absolutely freezing. This place had been abandoned years ago and had recently been made a werewolf’s nest. You first heard about this from your father, whom you were hunting with to find your mother as she had left you both to find this nest herself. When you didn’t hear from her for a couple of days, you knew something had happened. The hunt with your father was messy, leaving you by yourself while your father had been mauled by werewolves. You like to think that he sacrificed himself to save you, as his destiny was coming to an end. Talking about either of your parents severely upsets you, even to this day. So even mentioning anything about your mother still missing after all this time causes so much heartache, you wouldn’t even wish it on your own worst enemy.

Faint flickers of the wall mounted candles help you somewhat see, you notice they’ve been burning for a while, indicating that someone, or something is still here. With each careful footstep, you tread lightly, scanning every inch of the room. Reece is trailing behind you, but still keeping pace. He doesn’t have a weapon drawn, just walking with his hands in his pockets. His presence makes you feel so uncomfortable, but you hide it from the rest of the group and make it seem like you simply dislike him.

Luna softly turned around, her eyes flashed with horror. “Reece!” She screams, making everyone turn around and aim their weapon. Reece turns around, rapidly moving his hands out of his pockets to protect himself. A werewolf pounces on him, wrestling him to the floor. You take a few steps back in shock, whilst Lewis shoots his gun at it.

The bloodcurdling screams coming from Reece were so unsettling you just froze, unsure how to help. What am I doing?

Oh my God, is this humane? Do something!

Your heart tells you to attack the werewolf but your head tells you to stay. Luna rushes up and stabs the werewolf in the back what seems like hundreds of times. Blood splatters everywhere and gets all in her pin-straight hair. Specs cover her face and her chest. The werewolf weakly turns around to grab her, but Lewis swings his axe and beheads the monster. You stand there, taken aback by not being able to do anything yourself. Your chin wobbles as your throat starts to close up. You stare at Reeces’ body who is still laying on the floor, covered in so much blood. “Y/N…” Lewis breathes out, “What the fuck?”

“I…I-“ You panic, your eyes skim across the room, looking for an answer. “Hey.” Luna looks up at you. “Are you okay? You seem a little-“ Your eyes once again, widened by panic, another werewolf latched onto Lunas arm, biting her which lead to the worst scream of all. “Luna!” You yell, hurdling yourself over to help save your best friend. Quickly grabbing your axe with both hands, you swing and slice the werewolf’s torso. It squeals out in pain, focusing its target on you. Luna launches up and rags it back to the floor, protecting you. She let out another scream. “Fuck!” Lewis shouts, trying everything in his power to detach the wolf fangs from Lunas arm. The wolf rags it’s head to the side, pulling Luna’s arm with it. The squelching, the sounds of bones and skin ripping makes you gag, and you throw up in the corner. Luna lets out one last weak scream before it slowly dies down. You haul yourself on top of the werewolf and slam your axe in it’s head. It’s heavy body eventually slows and falls to the side. You fall along with it. Your leg is stuck underneath the animal, so you shove it off. You glance at the body and stare at the back of its head. Oh my God. “...Mom?” 

The tears burn your eyes, as you look over at Lunas dead body. Lewis is stood, wailing to himself. “Oh, fuck… Luna…” He wipes his face aggressively with his hand, pushing his messy hair out of his face. Tears are streaming down his face, you look up at him with sympathy. “Lewis, I’m so sorry…” You say, but your words are nothing to him right now. “Fuck…” He wails, falling to his knees to hold Luna’s fragile state in his arms. From what you knew, Luna and Lewis were inseparable. They spent every living second together and they loved each other with their whole hearts. Seeing one of your friends like this makes you truly empathise for him.

Lewis cocks his gun, taking safety off. “Lewis, what are you d-“ You jump back as a gunshot was fired. You open your eyes to see that Lewis had shot himself, so he could finally be with Luna in eternity. You start to bawl, what the hell happened in the last 5 minutes?

All of my friends are dead. The only time I actually hadn’t felt alone was when I was with them. The thought of having to start all over again makes me sick. Mom is dead, she was the one who killed Luna and then I had to kill her. I’m sick of this empty feeling in my heart.

I’ve sat here for God knows how long, my watch is broke and my phone has ran out of battery. I have nowhere to go.

At least I’m free from the power that Reece held over me, I never told anyone about what he put me through. The first day it happened was the 11th of June, he made me feel absolutely worthless, I wish I didn’t remember how or why, but it’s etched into my skull for the rest of my life. I whole-heartedly hate myself and God for allowing this to happen. But maybe I deserved it, for whatever I’ve done. I’ll never find peace.

My lesson learned:

If it feels like a trap, you’re already in one

Get out your map and just run

To start anew you need to burn everything, desert your past lives and if you don’t recognise yourself, that means you’ve done it right.

Your hands shake as you try to pull yourself together. “I’ve done this countless times before,” you tell yourself, “I can do it again.” You finally find the courage to stand up, your knees almost buckling beneath you. You wipe your nose with the back of your hand, your eyes feel like they’re drying out. Exhausted and out of tears, you exit the building the same way you came in, avoiding the pile of deceased to the left of you.

Fresh air hits you in the face, wishing it could bring you back to reality. Everything that has happened in the past 24 hours feels like a nightmare, it was a nightmare. Feeling more alone than ever, you unlock your car door and sit in silence. You turn the engine over, letting the radios static take over the uncomfortable feeling that’s looming over you. You take out your journal again but not opening it, you start writing on the cover:

If this journal is found, please burn it.

You open your car window and chuck the journal out into the mud. You have written basically your whole life so far into that book, but the desire to start over is so strong right now. Your heart is telling you to go back and get the journal, and just carry on with life as you were, but your brain is acknowledging that leaving everything behind is something that’s a long time coming. You feed into your feelings of abandoning your life story and drive off of the grass and onto the main road.

A few days later

Sam and Dean arrive at what looks like an abandoned warehouse. Muddy and slippery, the wheels of the Impala catch on a small puddle and skids. Dean presses on the gas more but slowly gives up. “Well, guess this is where I’m parking.” He jokes, and Sam huffs. They both exit the vehicle and inspect the outside of the building. Dean walks up to the side of the building and looks through a smashed window. “I can’t see a thing,” He mumbles to himself, before stepping backwards. He turns around and notices what looks like a book on the floor, he bends down and picks it up.

“Hey, Sammy, get a load of this.” He starts, wiping away the residue of mud from the front of the book. Sam stands by his side, “If this journal is found, please burn it.” Sam slowly repeats the cover on the book, squinting trying to read everything correctly. The book itself had been flooded so most of the pages are already damaged, the front cover that was tan, is now a very dark brown. “Okay, well, as they wish.” Dean reaches into his jacket pocket for a lighter, rummaging around. “Got a lighter in here somewhere,” He says, and Sam reaches over quickly to stop him.

“Dean, stop. What if this persons in trouble?” He reasons with him, and Dean furrows his eyebrows. “Who gives a damn? I wanna set this thing on fire.” He chuckles, sticking his tongue out a little.

“Dean.” Sam lowers his tone, and Dean pauses. “Let’s at least put it aside and go check inside. There could be werewolves inside waiting for their next dinner, and it’ll be you next if we aren’t careful.” He says, dragging his brother along with him to the entrance of the warehouse.

As soon as they enter, they’re hit with a foul smell of rotting flesh. Dean suddenly covers his nose and Sam wretches. “Holy mother…” Dean coughs, double taking at the pile of rotting corpses in the middle of the building. “What the Hell?” He says, Sam peering over as well. They both make their way over and notice a small girl with black, pin straight hair laying lifeless underneath another body of a woman, who seemed to be the attacker. “Was this our vic?” Sam says, bending down to inspect both of the bodies. He lifts the first woman’s head and lifts her mouth up, his eyes narrowing straight to the set of fang-like teeth. He takes her hand and notices her claws, too. Sam shakes his head. “Well, she’s definitely our culprit.” He stands up, allowing his brother to take a look himself. He walks over to the other side to inspect the other bodies. Dean hisses as he examines the wounds on the girl with the dark hair. “This must’ve hurt. Not sure if she’s the person with the journal though.” He says, shaking his head lightly. “How did it get out there if these are in here?” He asks, standing back up. “I’m not sure. But I don’t want to give up hope yet.” Sam says.

“It’s a case within a case within a case.” Dean looks at Sam, obviously proud of himself.

“Shut up.” Sam smiles at his brothers stupidity. “C’mon, let’s go find the person who’s journal it is.” He says, and they both walk back to the Impala, carrying the journal with them.

Dean turns the engine over and before he sets off, he notices that there are very faint tyre marks leading toward the main road. “Those are fresh, look,” He nudges Sam and points toward the road. “This could be them,” Sam states, “Let’s go.” Dean revs his engine and unsticks himself from the puddle, and rapidly emerges onto the road, darting down to the closest town.

I finished Yellowjackets and I already miss it! Any recs for what to watch to fill the void?

Omg I feel you every day of my life I miss Yellowjackets I wish I could watch it all for the first time again 😭

I don’t really watch that many shows so I’m terrible with recommending stuff 😅

If you want more depravity & complicated awful female villains & anti heroes with complex toxic sapphic dynamics Hostel 2 is my go to but you do have to watch the first one to understand it & I love the first one myself but it is very man heavy with characters lol

If you are really wanting to lean more into the messed up flesh consuming homoerotic codependent sapphic dynamic aspect specifically I’d recommend Ginger Snaps or Jennifer’s Body the main canon sapphic female relationships in both those movies are brain rotting in similar ways to JackieShauna. (Though Ginger Snaps gets incestuous so I know that’s as quick for a lot of people tread carefully)

Ooh as far as TV shows go you’d probably enjoy Killing Eve if you like Yellowjackets although that one the writing really goes downhill pretty badly so I do hesitate to recommend it unless you’re in it for the parts that are worth it & prepared for disappoint down the line…. Ugh but Eve & Villanelle are SUCH amazing characters!!

Dead to Me is another show that’s really good & far less depraved & more drama centric than the other stuff I’ve mentioned. However in my opinion the writing does go downhill but the first 2 seasons? Iconic. Not canonically gay like the other things I’ve mentioned but still a delicious dynamic between two complicated & somewhat crazy women.

Not in the same genre as my other recs but Bottoms is a great comedic movie if you just want crazy & sort of awful lesbians.

Oh —- ok last 3 recommendations. These ones don’t necessarily have the toxic crazy sapphic girlies element of YJ that I just assume is a big part of the draw (it is for me lol) HOWEVER they are some of my faves -

Hannibal. I love this show. It’s art. I don’t have anything else to say that hasn’t been said meow articulately by more hardcore fans. I watched this entire show in a fever haze when I had Covid so that probably affects my analytical ability but I promise it’s great. It’s also a little man heavy & the female characters could be… done better sometimes so that is a criticism I have that keeps it from being a number one fave for me but Hannibal & Will are VERY compelling & the plot & visuals are soooo good.

Scream mtv I honestly feel like you’ve seen this one I’m pretty sure but it’s a fave of all time & Emma/Audrey is one of my fave ships of all time. Excellent cast excellent writing it’s so good.

Bates Motel. This show is so slept on in fandom & it’s probably the best horror tv I’ve ever seen from start to finish it tells an amazingly cohesive prequel backstory for one of the most iconic villains of all time in a way that honors the book & film both of which I LOVE & somehow manages to stay fresh & shocking & exciting despite the audience knowing where it’s going. For quality horror tv I can’t recommend this show highly enough it’s honestly the best thing on this list on an objective level like the cinematography the fantastic acting from Vera Farmiga & Freddy Highmore especially but also Max Theriot & Olivia Cookie I just - I LOVE this show. Heavy heavy trigger warning though not just for incest which is inherent to a Psycho prequel but like…. Everything you could ever need a trigger warning for. There is a significant amount of SA shown so yeah be careful.

Anyway there you go you’ve probably seen a lot of the stuff on this list but this is what I could think of to watch next to somewhat keep the mood of Yellowjackets although of course we both know YJ is unique enough you’re never going to recapture that exact vibe 😉

Oh wait last thing my best friend Juliet Lewis plays another iconic traumatized girly with maybe worse daddy issues than Natalie even in Natural Born Killers. This is one of my favorite movies but it is NOT for everyone. You are signing up for unapologetic depravity & sympathetic serial killer villain main characters with a toxic relationship. Now for me those are selling points but it is a very messed up movie so yeah. Trigger warning for SA incest & basically every dynamic in the movie being the definition of toxic.

thoughts, explanations (and a lot of babbling) under the cut:

red bull: maybe i'm delulu for thinking daniel to red bull will still happen lol but it makes perfect sense on paper-- daniel's already familiar with the team and works well with them, he has support from the higher ups, he's a marketing dream, he has a similar driving style and preference to max...

also i know there have been rumours about alex going to red bull again but i don't think he'll do it in the end.

mercedes: i want it to be fernando that replaces lewis bc it would bring the most chaos and drama lol, but it's also a decision that actually makes sense? swapping a world champion with another world champion, and one that isn't likely to want to stay long term (5-10 years)? i guess this is dependent on how both mercedes and aston do this year but 🙏 pls make it happen lol

alex is my second choice for the seat if fernando doesn’t take it. i started making my predictions before james confirmed that alex was signed to williams for 2025, but even with that news, i still think it's a possibility he could go to mercedes. there's been so many whispers in the press about alex wanting to either leave williams or getting offers from top teams, that i can't help but think that alex is trying to gun for a top seat.. and mercedes is his best choice for a top seat imo. not to mention that james did say that he wouldn't stop alex from leaving if he wanted to, and of course the ties with mercedes that james and williams have... it would be easy for them to do some negotiations and make it happen. also i'm sure that george would put in a good word for alex, if alex was interested.

also some honourable mentions, because there's a lot of possibilities to consider: everyone is talking about kimi antonelli and mercedes and i do think that they're going to try and push him into f1 as soon as they can.. i just don't know if they'll take the risk of putting him in the merc seat right away. i'm really interested to see how he does in f2 either way-- if he's as good as everyone says then the results will speak for themselves. i think esteban is a good option too; he's a solid driver (and underrated imo), and more importantly he has ties to merc and toto. if merc wants a more short term option then carlos is a good choice, though it's more likely he would go to sauber. as for mick, i don't think that he's merc's first (or even second or third) choice for the seat, unfortunately for him and the mick girlies. lastly, this one is a bit random but nico hulkenberg also came to mind as a solid short term option (plus, he's german).

ferrari: still can’t believe lewis is going to be driving for them.

mclaren: no notes, very solid pairing.

aston martin: i think the lineup will stay the same if fernando doesn’t want to move to mercedes. i suppose there’s a chance that the rumours about lance going to wec could be true but we will see.

if fernando does go to mercedes then yuki is probably the most obvious choice as his replacement. i also think it’s in yuki's best interest in the long term to leave the red bull family, and this would probably be the best opportunity to do so.

i was actually initially considering checo as the driver to replace fernando — they have history after all, and checo seems to love the team. however, thinking about it, 2023 really took a hit to his reputation as a driver and I don’t know if aston would want him back anyways? i think checo would absolutely reach out to them though if the seat opens up, i think he’s going to try and stay on the grid if it's possible.

alpine: i think both will stay, but if one was to leave it would probably be este (to mercedes?) rather than pierre. if he were to go then jack doohan would be the likely replacement, maybe victor martins if his results in f2 are good.

williams: like i said earlier, i think mercedes is going to try and get kimi into f1 asap, even if he doesn't win f2, and aside from merc itself, williams is the most likely option for that to happen. alex will stay if he doesn’t get the mercedes seat—the supposed red bull offer doesn't start until 2026 and i don’t think he would break his contract to go to aston or alpine.

as for who would replace alex if he does go to mercedes, i would love for it to be valtteri. i stole this idea from @velvetsainz actually, but the more i think about it, the more i like it... the idea of valtteri and james on the same team again tickles me and valtteri is a fantastic mentor (as evidenced by his relationship with guanyu). also i'm fairly certain that toto is back on valtteri's management team again so i can see toto mentioning valtteri as an option for williams in their negotations for the hypothetical alex to mercedes move. is this likely this is to happen, idk, because valtteri did pick sauber over williams in 2021 for a reason but a girl can dream lol

visa cash grab rb: this one was the one i probably struggled with the most ngl.. i think liam is definitely going to be in f1 in 2025 (and deservedly so) but the question of who's going to be in the other seat.. the three main options would be yuki, checo and daniel (if daniel remains at visa instead of moving up, either checo stays at red bull or yuki is the one getting promoted). i originally had the lineup as yuki and liam (and checo at aston martin) but ended up switching yuki and checo around in the end. if checo does end up retiring at the end of this year and yuki goes off to aston then i'm not sure who would replace him..maybe ayumu iwasa? i looked at their list of juniors and am not really familiar with anyone besides him tbh

sauber: this one pains me because i'm a huge fan of both valtteri and guanyu, and they're actually my favorite pairing, in terms of overall vibes and personality... but i would be (very pleasantly) surprised if they both manage to stay at sauber next year. i think it's a given that carlos is going to go to sauber now that he isn't with ferrari, especially with his ties his dad has to audi. i also think sauber/audi would want to start preparing for 2026 and they would also want a german driver to drive for them, hence nico hulkenberg (plus the rumours that they were interested in hulkenberg last year, but ended up renewing guanyu instead).

there's a chance that one of the current drivers could stay, which in that case it would likely be valtteri (with carlos as his teammate, rather than nico). they could also promote theo pourchaire to f1, but i think it's likely they would stick to established drivers, especially during the first couple of years that audi settle in.

haas: the new haas tp has spoken very highly of ollie and with the amount of free practice sessions they have scheduled for ollie this year, it wouldn't surprise me if they're trying to get him on the grid. i know some people think that kevin might retire after this year, but i think they would like to keep one of the current drivers since the last time they had two new drivers didn't go well 😬. on the chance that kevin does end up retiring, i think guanyu is a good shout for a replacement. it might seem a bit random but he's a consistent driver who rarely crashes and more importantly, brings a lot of money and sponsorship, which haas needs.

I am in a career that is highly competitive in a very similar way to f1. I can say, from experience, that having friends who share that same limited spot, competitive, career as you is very much a double edged sword.

You are both aware that you are competing for that top spot that only one can be in, you are both very talented, you both have ambition, and your life is very much given to that thing you both do in a way that no one else really understands. In a sense, you are the only people who truly understand each other, and there is a kind of familial kinship that develops in a way.

But also, you are both aware that you stand on opposite sides of the scale, a win for a friend is a loss for you, I win for you is a loss for your friend. You want to see your friend happy, but it comes at the cost of your own happiness. You treat each other as equals, you are friends as equals, but the people who perceive you, the rest of the world ranks you as one above the other. No matter what one is always lesser, one is always greater.

One sees the others success and says “well I’m just as good at this too, but I can do this, but I have this skill or attribute, why don’t you all see that. Why do you only see them?”

You hate that that’s the way things are, but live that they are your friend and are happy for their success and amazed at what they can do, but that happiness eats at you because why not you. The hate and love for your friend and equal-but-not-equal coexist.

So comments like Lando’s- complementing max one second, saying something a bit less positive the next, make complete sense to me, it’s honest. He loves max and is happy and amazed for him and what he’s able to do, he hates that he can’t seem to live up to that same expectation.

Max is the scale Lando is measuring himself against, clearly, it wears at him. Max is in top of the world. The jealousy, envy, and exasperation, coupled with the knowledge that there can only be one, and that it is not Lando, hurts. But Max, who Lando wants to beat, to be better than is also someone he cares for and wants to be happy for. Both sides coexist and it creates a duality that stings. But it is the way that it is, there really isn’t a way around it, even if you try your hardest to find one. That’s the reality of the situation.

I mean, again, I think it’s a bit wild that people are basically expecting Lando to say “he’s better than me” about Max, consistently and succinctly. He is, we all know it, but if that’s how Lando thinks then he wouldn’t be where he is and he’s wasting his time. If they roll over and admit he’s invincible…why tf are they travelling for 24 weeks a year?

So I am what they call a DTS fan I got into F1 during lockdown cause I watched DTS because all I knew at that point was Lewis Hamilton (because I was a big PCD girlie back in the day) but like even just the short clips of Daniel driving were so incredible to me that I went back and watched a lot of his older races and read a lot about his career and 2021 was the year he got Monza win so I truly was convinced that he still had it in him to fight for a championship but he’d just been unlucky with Red Bull not prioritizing him, and basically was building Renault up by himself, and then it was so obvious that McLaren wasn’t supporting him the way he needed especially after so many people talking about how the McLaren is hard to drive (and comparing how Sainz struggled with the Renault but not the McLaren so Daniel was probably going to have the opposite problem)

Idk I think it’s a mix of genuine talent, the hard work he puts in, the fact that he is pretty personable, but also that he has this similar hunger that you do see in drivers like Lewis, Schumi, Alonso (unfortunately), Seb etc (like no hate to the younger drivers I know they also have the same goal but it just doesn’t seem the same now that I’ve had the time to deep dive into Formula 1 the last couple years) it’s just like a different beast they have inside them

I personally think as long as you’re a journalist, why shouldn’t one be biased? it’s a sport at the end of the day. A technical one so there’s a more quantifiable logic but a sport regardless. I understand what you mean with rivalry and I agree but personally didn't find the teamLH-orange army war fun at all because it got nasty really quickly. Fans were hating on each other and very aggressive about their opinions and I don't like that. I like heated arguments fine but when it tips into hate then it becomes a bad experience for most people.

To take your football example, I think singing songs in the stadium, making fun of the other team and fans, it's all playful and part of the culture. But fuck ultras, you know what I mean? I shouldn't be worried about getting jumped when I leave a game. Same thing goes here. The problem is a lot of people get genuinely angry at things and then genuinely aggro and that's not fun. So like I said in my previous post, if getting into fights with other people over these things is fun to you, you do you, I'll personally probably block you cause it's not enjoyable to me.

Imo the difference lies in self awareness. If you're a bit or even fully insane about your fav but you know that you are then it's generally all in good fun. But some people aren't aware that they are being irrational about things and that can get ugly because they take things seriously and get serious emotions about it and send serious hate about it etc. But it's not only bad for other people they might get aggressive towards. I've had anons here be genuinely distraught and/or enraged by the lack of performance at the moment. Listen, I may be biased (as an Ozzy stan and all), but I’m honestly not worried. Could Ozzy be recoupling? Yes. Is it 100% IC for him? I don’t think so, but at the end of the day Fusebox will find a “plausible” reason if that’s what they want him to do (same as with any other romanceable character). However, do I think that recoupling will mean anything for any of our possible LIs? No lol. Just for Elliot, but is anyone taking him seriously, anyway?

Generally, I think that, based on personality\the storylines FB has been going with so far, it’s more likely Elliot and your former LI will bring someone back from CA. Amelia’s LI (Roberto in my case) could bring someone back, but it just wouldn’t add much to the plot. Plus, considering Amelia’s coupled up with someone you didn’t want, having her partner stick and her switch could lead to him being sent home. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised.

It’s kind of similar for Ozzy. It doesn’t make much sense, personality-wise, to have him bring back someone from CA. I could only see it if Ozzy was bringing someone back as a friend or if he was all over the place about MC going home. However, having Ozzy recouple would still be a bit of a stretch. In my opinion, he’s not going to switch; mainly because that would endanger Grace and he doesn’t want that, but also because he doesn’t connect easily. And honestly, I also feel like, plot-wise, it’s a weak choice. As you and the other anon were saying, Grace and Ozzy’s situation AND Marshall’s words could lead to doubts on Ozzy’s character. In a scenario in which MC didn’t believe Marshall and Grace, it’d be cool if MC saw Ozzy recouple. The whole thing would be a misunderstanding, sure, but MC wouldn’t know, so it’d be cool. However, there are a couple of reasons for which I don’t think going with this plot is a good idea:

1) If you believe Marshall and Grace, what’s the point? Like, okay, you’re going to have a moment later when it’s revealed there were reasons behind Ozzy’s choice, but it’s still a very weak reveal. The only way I could see this recoupling scenario happening is if it’s to amp up the rivalry between Ozzy and Marshall. Even then, though, it’d be a bit anticlimactic and in need to be resolved soon, as Ozzy, whether you reject him or not, is about to shoot his shoot as a LI.

2) On the other hand, if Ozzy doesn’t recouple, the plot works very well no matter if you believed Marshall and Grace or not. If you didn’t believe Marshall and Grace, seeing Ozzy come back alone would prove you were right (and Marshall is just a liar). If you believed them, seeing him come back alone would make both you and Grace realize you were played, and Marshall would look like a fool. This scenario would have more impact, and it could lead to the start of the Ozzy romance (as even slow burns tend to have at least ten or twelve chapters of coupling before the game ends, so it shouldn’t be that long now).

Of course, Ozzy could still recouple, these are just my two cents about it.

But back to the main point, Elliot is (as we all know) no doubt recoupling. Not only it makes complete sense for his current situation, but he’s clearly also a bit of a player. While Elliot is clear though, Roberto\Jamal\Ryan\Lewie is way more difficult to understand.

Based on what your former LI says he feels and the fact that you’ve been coupled up with him for a while, it’d make the least sense (theoretically) for him to recouple. However, Fusebox’s track record with the og trio\Roberto, this season, has been bad. They have made them look bad on different occasions, and while it was mostly incomprehensions I don’t see them letting go of one “last chance” to do so. Not to mention that Jamal\Ryan are two of the four previous partner options. The same Jamal and Ryan that can make complete fools of themselves when Ivy is dumped, and we know how Fusebox codes, so…

We’ll see, I guess. I’m actually really curious about the new chapters this time around.

I mean first and foremost in full reality Lando and Carlos are just shooting the shit when they meet up. I'd pointed out in a previous ask that when carlando race moments get isolated out they're missing a lot of the same pair ups happening out of frame. there are a whole lot of friends meeting up for one on ones like that. they're also being just as physically without boundaries but folks have latched onto carlando more than those (me included lol). in terms of rpf material maxiel and galex are waaayyyy more intimate and devoted to each other.

but yeah none of these guys are talking about personal shit in those moments. they've got a race up ahead and they're catching up on everything from sports to sports and sports and then maybe something funny from a group chat or social media. mics have sometimes picked up on bits of them talking (including carlando) and it's the most banal guy talk you've ever heard in your life. it's way better as a fan of a ship to focus on how close they stand and pretend they're gooey over each other lsgjlaflslahd

so I think whatever you're seeing in Carlos in terms of choosing to go talk to other guys is just as incidental and without meaning! Carlos will always seek out Checo and Nando the way all ppl want to talk in their native language for a change. and literally the entire grid wants to talk to Lewis lol. especially if a free shoulder rub comes out of it.

and babe Carlos' gfs have always been his preferred place to be during down time on race weekends so there's never going to be much if any interaction with Lando. I can't comment on what Carlos actually feels obviously but he's a guy who needs a gf in his life and they're where he goes as soon as the racing weekend is over.

real life non-rpf carlando for me has always been a big brother/little brother relationship very similar to Charles with Arthur. they love each other and huddle together a lot but there's also a divide in terms of one feeling responsible for the other. so maybe what you're seeing is that sometimes big brother wants to go off with his partner and be around people his own age while little brother does the same.
