we take the same exact road on the walk to the post box to drop off your lovely etsy things and its a new adventure each time. often there are brush turkeys and bush stone curlews, almost always cane toads, sometimes tree frogs or rocket frogs. the water feature next to the post has tadpoles at certain times of year, and sometimes a water spider hunting them, always in the same place. if you shine a light into the trees you can see huntsman spiders' eyes reflecting back at you. same with shrimp in the water, their eyes are really reflective. big garden orb weavers with huge claws that look like a citadel floating in the sky. on calm nights you might see a fruit bat's very Correct looking batty silhouette and hear a sound like an umbrella opening. sometimes there is betlegeuse and sirius and goat star capella, which pulses unnervingly, and sometimes there is a still grey sky with a rainless lightning storm. every time we think we've seen everything that lives on this stretch of road we see something new, like the rhino beetle yesterday, or the glass/grass/ghost shrimp freshly spawned at the artificial waterfront. everything changes every week

Bunch of dumbass kids with fireworks broke into one of the properties in the back of where my apartment is situated and set off a bunch of fireworks... There was a minor fire and cops had to be called, but the property owner chased them off and hosed down the mini blaze.

Considering the fact most of the properties around here are a little overgrown with greenery (my apartment's main patio included), this could have ended atrociously 💀

When driving in and around residential areas or anywhere there might be pedestrians, always drive extra carefully, be more mindful of following the speed limit, be extra careful about going around corners or approaching anywhere with pedestrian crossing especially if there's low visibility due to things like bushes and trees. In short, don't be afraid to drive like a little old grandparent anywhere residential where there might be pedestrians.

Speed limits are lower in residential areas for a reason, and that's because it reduces pedestrian injuries and deaths when you drive more carefully when people might be around and crossing the street. You never know when a small child chasing a ball or a pet who broke loose from the house might run into the street, and your abiding the speed limit and driving mindfully could be the difference between life and death in these scenarios. Even if a fully grown adult is just walking or biking to the store they deserve to do so safely without being injured or killed by a speeding car whipping around corners without looking where they're going.

This all also applies to other motorized forms of transportation, such as electric scooters, as you're also at risk of hitting and injuring or even killing pedestrians and cyclists.
