american healthcare by penelope scott but make it leon s. kennedy.
verse 1, "when i was seven years old i saw a dead man in the road..." could relate to the early loss of his parents and leon's first experience with a police officer. plenty of children are exposed to violence at an early age, and leon is no exception. this experience desensitized him to violence and to cope with it he focused on the positive experience he had with that cop, and decided he wanted to be an officer in order to help people.
he helped claire, sherry, ashley, etc. there's actually kind of a pattern of him "saving" female characters and kind of affirming his own masculinity by doing so. this makes his interactions with ada and luis very interesting, the former of course being a woman that doesnt need his saving and the latter being a man that desperately needs his saving. but thats a conversation for another time.
and in the chorus of the song, "you corporate fucking prick, i did not become a doctor just to suck the devil's dick" relates to him a lot. because leon s kennedy sucks a lot of d---he has a lot of experiences with "corporate overlords", like simmons. but also this doesn't just apply to specific individuals. leon is in law enforcement because he wants to protect people. he was a police officer because he wanted to protect people, he is an agent because he wants to protect as many people around the world in the long run optimally in the most efficient way. but he consistently runs into the problem that his job as a police officer is not to protect people. its to protect private property. his job as an agent is not to protect people. its to protect corporate interests. he's in the wrong job.
i really hope we see leon be a firefighter or an emt some day. like, obviously hes a little old and definitely traumatized enough, but those are occupations where your job literally is just to help people, not keep corporate interests in mind.
and in verse 2 "I asked the right questions, i never even really got bored" relates to him really well too. leon quite easily slipped into his role as "right hand man", never wondering or asking just what exactly left hand was up to. because truthfully, he didn't want to know. he preferred the comfort that came with not knowing.
or in verse 3, "it trickled into both my ears, it got louder over the years, until all that i could hear were fuckin' flies" probably relates to leon the most out of any line from this song. it perfectly represents how incredibly corrupted leon has become. it's also worth mentioning how resident evil viruses do sometimes take the form of insects. you could kind of look at it like a direct parallel between government corruption and the viruses he's fighting. they're both equally parasitic, infectious, and harmful. i imagine sometimes leon just wishes he'd be infected finally, because it's better than this torturous process of corruption. in the pre chorus, she says "sometimes it's like they'd rather die" and i think sometimes it's like he'd rather die.
it's such a great song about american capitalism and how easily it can corrupt people's naive hopes and dreams of helping people. because leon s kennedy... has been corrupted. time and time again throughout the RE franchise we see commanding officers from private corporations, governments, law enforcement, etcetera being revealed as evil and every time... the main characters just kill the guy and get back to work. they never stop and consider... maybe it's not about just one guy. maybe its not about just this one individual that happened to be evil. maybe something made him evil... maybe something allowed him to be evil... and maybe its the exact same thing that i work for... or something like that idk lolllllll.
i really hope we see leon kind of "break the cycle" and have the kinds of realizations that are in this song because like... BITCH... that stupid little boy is lucky hes so pretty!!!
also im really sorry for derailing a song about a womans experience in academia and social services under capitalism and stuff to be about this white boy in the CIA... i hope this little analysis doesnt detract from the actual song. cause like... its a great song and we dont need to make it about leon stupid little bitch kennedy for it to be good.

what are your favourite /least favourite games??
Hmmm long answers
Favorite is probably Chibi Robo. It's silly, whimsical, and full of adventure. It's actually really hard to pick a favorite, there's so many games I like. But Chibi Robo really stands out. I think it got me really interested in drawing as a means of expressing myself-- I used to have a ''video game diary'' where I would draw what happened in the games I played that day. Naturally, Mr. Robo was everywhere. I like games with cartoonish visuals and big worlds to explore.
EDIT: I replayed both Chibi Robo and Chulip recently, and I think Chulip is actually my favorite game. It perfectly encompasses this atmospheric weirdness and playful realism that I wish more games explored. Plus it's genuinely challenging (oftentimes by accident). In a few years, my favorite games will probably be ones that I make myself, because I try to tailor them specifically to my interests
Honestly, any game by people from the former Love-de-Lic crew, namely Moon: Remix RPG, Chulip, and Little Kings Story.
All of their games have a lot of very specific things in common -- a day/night cycle, themes of gathering love and happiness, and vibrant character designs. The worlds just feel lived in. They're imperfect, almost childlike, and a little scary at times. But there's care in there, so much of it. They feel like a homemade meal.
Final verdict: Good👍
Least favorite easy, it's Hello Neighbor. I did like the 2016-2017 pre-alpha/alpha builds well enough, because it felt like a sandbox of sorts. Nothing was defined about the story or characters, so you could kind of interpret whatever you wanted. Honestly the final game looked like a hilariously glitch-y mess. IDK much about it in general, I think there's a sequel now, or something...? I miss the pre-alpha build, when my friends and I thought it was gonna be a burglar simulator. We used to play a game within the game that we called "Chair Quest" where we would steal chairs out of the guys house and try to break the AI over and over.
Final verdict: Let it die

Other least favorite is the Yo! Noid NES game, but that comes from a place of love more than anything else. I dislike it in an affectionate way. Play on an emulator, and use save states.

Speaking of the Noid, another one of his games that fascinates me is this one. Or this version. They're both bad. For GOOD Noid games, look no further than Yo! Noid 2: Enter the Void. Thank you for your ask

also anyuone getting into eckvanet on here: i suggest you either play on the website or watch the vbideo BEFORE going ahead and catching up with it on twitter. in my opinion, the game portion works MUCH better on their own website, or as a video on youtube, due to the fact that the twitter polls make it clunky to read and it has no noise

So basically there’s a website called Serializd, which is a letterboxd ripoff, but for shows, and I made an account there in august. I also have accounts on both letterboxd and backloggd (which is for games), and on both I always log the date I watch a movie/finish a game, but since I first started this account recently, there aren’t any diary entries from before august 29, and I can’t look at something like steam to check dates like with games.
So what I had to do to get a more expansive diary was check every other imaginable outlet for possible dates. This meant mainly Imdb and Discord, but since Imdb only shows the last time you changed a rating because it’s a fuckin piece of shit website with zero thought spared for people like me, it’s less than ideal, and my Discord convos are very sporadic. This led to a need for alternative solutions, and I had to utilize a lot of different sources.
Like for the DCAU shows I watched in late 2021, I mentioned on august 21 that I was watching batman, but then on the 25th I said I was watching superman, so Clearly I finished batman in that space. So I checked a plan I made that summer for which days I could watch shows (because I had little time), and it turned out I could only have finished in on the 23rd, so that was that. Then I found the watch order guide I had used, and discovered that it recommended a movie right after finishing the superman show, so after checking letterboxd for the diary date for that movie, it was a piece of cake to figure out when in the preceding days I got through that show.
Andf then obviously for some of the shows I could just check out the release date for some of them, since I knew which ones I watched immediately. And for Invincible (2021) I had to check out when Schaffrillas Productions made his vbideo on the show, since I remember already having watched it at that time, and that I watched in inbetween classes. So I checked my old school schedule and found the date, easy peasy. And for justice league, I had google the wikipedia episode page, but not click on it, and read when it said I last visited it, since I knew I checked it right until the very end because I kept forgetting which episode I was on because I watched it on an illegal site on incognito.
Anyways, the list is found here: https://www.serializd.com/user/SebMoz/diary It doesn't look impressive, but it took me a long time and it was fun. yeah.
